In one example published by ADT, a sensor on an upper-level window detected an attempted entry through a window the homeowners hadn’t initially considered particularly vulnerable.

For rental properties, walk the exterior before installing equipment and identify side doors, rear entrances, basement windows and other accessible openings. Garages and doors connecting an attached garage to the living area may also warrant coverage.

Comedians know him as “Scott,” but fans have long known him by his stage name, “Carrot Top.”

The Chairman of the Board actor and, more notably, Las Vegas mainstay has become one of Sin City’s highest-rated acts as a prop comedian headlining shows at the famed Luxor.

The funnyman, known for his signature fiery red locks, shocked his beloved fans after late-night reports emerged that Carrot Top had attempted to take his own life at his Las Vegas mansion.

While details are still slowly being revealed, it has been reported that he is recovering in the hospital after canceling Friday and Saturday night’s shows.

It’s not confirmed whether his suicide attempt is directly related to a $15 million lawsuit filed in Winter Park, Florida, which Carrot Top’s attorney now claims is an  extortion attempt, but one can only imagine the comedian’s life has taken a turn in the last year or so.

He appeared with fellow comedian Joe Rogan on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast in September 2025.

Seemingly jolly, upbeat, and cracking jokes as he has made a career out of doing, he detailed not only the success of his long-running Luxor show, but why he loves calling Las Vegas home.

“The last two years, I’ve just—since the club opened, I just stopped and it’s been amazing. I love it,” Carrot Top told Rogan, explaining that he had stopped touring and was enjoying the advantages of being home.

“But being at home has giant advantages,” he continued. “You don’t realize, like, how much you’re destroying your body until you stop doing it.”

For the comedian, life in Las Vegas meant a much more ordinary routine than his years on tour, expressing little desire to return to the grind and instead savoring a slower pace.

“You can have a normal day,” he explained. “I had a dog for a bit. You can take a dog and then go to work and come home. You’re watching SportsCenter at 10:30.”

The JRE episode aired Sept. 10, 2025, offering a rare glimpse into the quieter side of Carrot Top’s life away from the stage—a life he described with unmistakable affection for his work/life balance, making the events of this week all the more jarring.

It was announced on Friday that famous stand-up comedian Taylor Tomlinson will be a guest on Late Night with Seth Meyers this Tuesday.

Tomlinson was the former host of CBS’ After Midnight, which aired at 12:37 am ET, making Late Night her direct competition, which airs at 12:35 am ET on NBC. Though airing at the same time, the two programs were completely different. Meyers hosts a traditional talk show built around comedy and celebrity interviews, while After Midnight was a comedy panel show that put Tomlinson alongside three comedian guests each night.

After Midnight with Taylor Tomlinson was executive produced by Stephen Colbert via his company Spartina Productions, along with Henry R. Muñoz III and Tom Purcell. The show debuted on January 2024 and lasted two seasons. CBS renewed After Midnight for a third, but Tomlinson decided to step down to focus on her stand-up career. The final episode aired on June 12, 2025.

“I’m so grateful that I got a chance to do this. I never thought that I would be able to host a late-night show. This was never something that was on my vision board at all because I just didn’t think it was possible for me,” Tomlinson said during the final episode of After Midnight. “I’m a touring stand-up and I feel very grateful to have that career that I do, and this opportunity came along at a time in my life where I could take advantage of it, and, while, unfortunately, I couldn’t keep doing the show, it just wasn’t sustainable for me. I can’t believe that I got to do it as long as I did.”

Tomlinson will be on Late Night with Seth Meyers to promote Actually, Nevermind, her debut collection of autobiographical essays, which is set for release on Tuesday. This is the 32-year-old comedian’s second time on Meyers’ show. Her first came on Aug. 24, 2021, and earlier this year, she joined Meyers and his brother Josh for an episode of their Family Trips with the Meyers Brothers podcast.

“It always just sort of breaks my heart because this was just such a cool destination for people in comedy,” Meyers said when CBS pulled the plug on After Midnight. “The cool thing that After Midnight was doing was not only did they have a host, it was also a really nice place for three comedians to get to do their thing. So, it’s disappointing. It’s never good when comedy platforms go away.”

Tomlinson was born and raised in California. Her comedy career started when she was just 16 years old, when her father signed them up for a stand-up class. Three years later, she ended up dropping out of college to pursue comedy more seriously.

After performing at multiple clubs and making appearances on Last Comic Standing, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Conan, many Comedy Central productions and the Just for Laughs Festival, Tomlinson released her first Netflix special, Quarter-Life Crisis, in March 2020, then went on tour with fellow comedian Whitney Cummings. She now has four Netflix stand-up comedy specials, with her most recent being Prodigal Daughter, which was filmed in December 2025 at Fountain Street Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan and released in February 2026.

“That show was so much fun to do. Our writers’ room was amazing,” Tomlinson said about the end of After Midnight. “I really couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to go to work with every day.”

Tomlinson’s appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers will air on NBC at 12:35 am ET on Tuesday. Actors Jon Hamm and Sabrina Impacciatore are also booked for that episode. Full episodes can be streamed the next day on Peacock and are uploaded to YouTube.

Instead, it is frequently a subtle, deeply ingrained coping mechanism fueled by high-functioning anxiety.

On the surface, individuals living with high-functioning anxiety often appear incredibly composed, reliable, hyper-capable and exceptionally driven. They are the ones who step up to plan group events, hit deadlines effortlessly and keep complicated logistics running smoothly. But behind that polished, put-together exterior lies a continuous stream of internal worry, worst-case scenario forecasting and a lingering, quiet dread of the unknown.

When it comes to travel—even a low-stakes weekend road trip—the human mind is suddenly forced to process a mountain of unpredictable factors. For someone navigating high-functioning anxiety, those open-ended variables do not register as exciting possibilities or adventure. Instead, they register as potential threats waiting to derail a fragile sense of personal safety. Understanding why uncertainty feels so secretly terrifying can change how we view our own rigid habits and foster genuine empathy for the passionate over-planners in our lives.

The Paradox of High-Functioning Anxiety and Over-Planning

High-functioning anxiety operates on a distinct psychological paradox: external achievement paired with internal turbulence. While traditional presentations of anxiety might cause a person to freeze, withdraw or show clear signs of emotional distress, high-functioning anxiety channels that restless energy outward into high levels of productivity, meticulous preparation and proactive control.

When an over-planner maps out every single detail of an upcoming trip, they are essentially trying to build an emotional safety net. Research shows that the human brain naturally seeks predictability, but high-functioning anxiety amplifies that need into overdrive. Unstructured environments act as major psychological triggers because the anxious mind interprets a lack of information as an immediate vulnerability. Detailed itineraries act as an anchor, convincing the subconscious that as long as a clear blueprint exists, catastrophe can be kept at bay.

In a breakdown of how this particular type of anxiety presents itself in daily habits, psychologist Dr. Patricia Dixon, PsyD, previously told Parade: “This is the paradox of high-functioning anxiety: You appear composed and in control externally, but internally, there is a nagging worry. You may complete tasks, but it’s anxiety that is driving you to stay on task, not giving you space to feel safe or calm down.”

This underlying drive explains why missing a single train connection or finding a dinner spot unexpectedly closed can spark an intense wave of distress for an over-planner. What looks like an overreaction to a minor inconvenience is actually the sudden collapse of their primary defense mechanism against panic.

Why Uncertainty Feels Threatening and How To Reclaim Control

At the root of trip over-planning is an intense intolerance for what psychologists call “worst-case scenario thinking.” Rather than anticipating a pleasant, relaxing journey, an anxious nervous system automatically scans the horizon for potential pitfalls—lost reservations, bad weather, wasted time or missed transportation.

Addressing this habit in the same article, Dr. Dixon explained that constantly preparing for negative outcomes points directly to an internal state of present fear.

“Rather than being in the moment, you’re driven to predict what could go wrong and be prepared for any challenge,” she stated. “That pressure creates the need to stay ahead of potential failure, even when nothing is wrong now.”

When every small detail becomes a shield against perceived failure, decision-making becomes exhausting.

“Part of you wants to make sure that you are not making any mistakes, so even small decisions can become a higher-stakes situation than they should be,” Dr. Dixon noted, “leaving you mired in analysis paralysis and unable to take action.”

To soften the urge to over-plan without causing overwhelming stress, experts suggest taking small steps to build tolerance for uncertainty:

• Schedule unscheduled blocks: Build intentional two- to three-hour windows into your travel schedule that are designated purely for wandering without a set plan or goal.
• Question the stakes: When you feel the intense urge to research a fifth backup option, ask yourself: What am I trying to protect myself from right now, and what is the actual likelihood of it happening?
• Practice micro-spontaneity at home: Practice sitting with small uncertainties before heading out on a major trip. Try visiting a local neighborhood spot without reading online reviews first or following a new route on your daily commute.

By recognizing hyper-organization as an emotional shield rather than an annoying personality trait, travelers can learn to gently lower their defenses, trust their ability to handle bumps in the road and enjoy the real world beyond the spreadsheet.

The Holy Grail of ’90s Trick-or-Treating

The best thing about candy is there’s always a little something for everyone. And while plenty of our childhood favorites are still around today, the following somehow managed to quietly disappear after the decade, leaving behind a tiny, bite-sized hole in many of our hearts.

PB Max 

Introduced by Mars in 1989 and featuring a rectangular cookie covered in peanut butter and coated in milk chocolate, PB Max was sold until sometime between 1992 and 1994. A beloved choice for many fans of the decade, it reportedly generated roughly $50 million in sales before being discontinued, and it still has a loyal following begging for its return to this day. Rumor has it that the Mars family disliked peanut butter, which may have played a role in its ultimate demise.

Nestlé Wonder Ball

Brought to life in the mid-’90s as Nestlé Magic Ball, this childhood favorite featured a hollow chocolate ball with a small toy hidden inside. With a commercial jingle likely to get stuck in your head for hours on end, it became a popular trick-or-treating staple before being pulled from shelves in 1997 due to potential choking hazards and legal issues surrounding nonfood items inside candy. Years later, the Magic Ball returned as Wonder Ball, with candy pieces inside instead of toys, only to disappear again after Nestlé sold the brand to Frankford Candy in 2004.

Butterfinger BB’s

A true grail of its time, Butterfinger BB’s were unveiled in the early ’90s and remained on shelves into the early 2000s. Offering fans the same crispy, peanut buttery center of the popular candy bar but in a small, spherical form, the bite-sized snack cemented itself in pop culture with memorable Simpsons advertising campaigns and party-sized offerings that were perfect for the Halloween candy bowl. Though the candy eventually disappeared from shelves in 2006 without a clear explanation from Nestlé, to this day, fans are petitioning for its return.

Reese’s Peanut Butter Bites

Another bite-sized favorite that had no business disappearing from shelves, Reese’s Peanut Butter Bites took the brand’s popular peanut butter-filled chocolate cup and reshaped it into small, perfectly round pieces. An easy addition to any Halloween candy haul, the beloved snack was released in the late ’90s and lasted until roughly 2008. Reportedly discontinued over concerns they could pose a potential choking hazard, the popular snack would likely still do major numbers on shelves today.

Wonka Chewy Runts

Released in the early ’80s as Runts and lasting strong through 2014, Chewy Runts were a softer, chewier alternative to the original candy, which featured miniature, fruit-shaped pieces with a hard, jawbreaker-like texture. Featuring a sweet, tart, fruity flavor, each bag included a mix of oranges, small cherries and adorable neon-yellow bananas. Despite being very difficult to bite through in its earliest iteration, Chewy Runts offered a much more pleasant candy-eating experience, often coming in party-sized bags that were perfect for trick-or-treating.

Brach’s Rocks

Another early ’90s favorite, Brach’s Rocks were rock candy-coated chewy treats that came in five fruity flavors: cherry, grape, lemon, orange and strawberry. Designed to look like tiny geodes when cracked open, the popular jelly candies were beloved by kids and marketed through commercials featuring Rocky D., a letterman jacket-wearing dinosaur who pitched the snack as his “fossilized” candy. Experiencing a very limited run on shelves, Brach’s Rocks are still, to this day, a nostalgic relic of the era, something many fans today would likely love to see make a comeback.

Created in 1999, Mike and Ike Zours featured a colorful, sour spin on the brand’s classic chewy candies. Featuring a smooth, sour-sugar coating and a jelly-like texture, they came in five fruity flavors, including lemon, green apple, watermelon, blue raspberry and cherry. Experiencing a solid run through the decades after its inception in the late ’90s, the beloved sour snack ultimately disappeared from shelves sometime around 2020, despite multiple petitions existing online for its return to this day.

Willy Wonka’s Super Sour Dina-Sour Eggs

Created in the early ’80s, Willy Wonka’s Dina-Sour Eggs just make the cut, though they were ultimately discontinued sometime around 1992. Perfectly befitting of Halloween, the oversized jawbreakers combined two major childhood obsessions: dinosaurs and candy. Made with layered rings that changed the experience as you licked your way through grape, orange, cherry and lemon flavors, the candy was eventually shrunk down from its original oversized form in the late ’80s, while still remaining a highly coveted addition to any trick-or-treating haul.

Fifty years ago, legendary rock band KISS released “Beth”—a song that went on to define their career.

“Beth” was originally released on July 28, 1976, as the B-side to “Detroit Rock City” from their fourth studio album, Destroyer. Once it garnered significant attention from radio airplay, it was re-issued as an official A-side single. On September 4, it debuted on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No. 7 on December 4. In total, the track spent 13 consecutive weeks in the Top 40.

Aside from chart success, “Beth” also experienced significant commercial triumph. In 1977, the song was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for selling over 1 million copies in the U.S. alone. The single marked the band’s highest-charting and biggest commercial hit of their career.

Creating “Beth”

“Beth” was produced by Bob Ezrin in late 1975 at the iconic Record Plant and Electric Lady Studios in New York City. The track featured Peter Criss’s emotional lead vocals layered over a grand piano and lush orchestral arrangement.

The power ballad served as a stark juxtaposition to the rest of the band’s heavy-rock discography. It explores themes of loneliness and isolation, getting personal about the band’s experience of being on the road away from home while working late in the studio.

Lines like “You say you feel so empty / That our house just ain’t a home / That I’m always somewhere else / And you’re always there alone” shared the intense emotional turmoil musicians face while being away from loved ones. The authenticity of the song deeply connected with wide-ranging audiences, solidifying the band’s versatility.

Five decades after its release, “Beth” maintains its legacy as one of the most notable power ballads ever recorded. On Spotify, the track has garnered over 87 million streams, attesting to its ability to bridge the gap between audiences in the digital era.

Before his departure from Pink Floyd in 1985, Roger Waters showed off his vocal range in many of the band’s iconic songs, such as “Comfortably Numb” (1979), “Shine On You Crazy Diamond” (1975), and “Brain Damage” (1973). Waters also famously provided the scream in 1968’s “Careful With That Axe, Eugene.”

In a 2023 Q&A interview, Waters, now 83, revealed that vocalizing in that way during live performances of “Careful With That Axe, Eugene” did some damage to his vocal cords.

“Did you know that scream I did back in the day was so bad for the vocal cords and so bad for everything physical about my vocal cords, and my throat or whatever? I just didn’t know it at the time. I was pig ignorant. Not that pigs are all that ignorant,” stated Waters in the 2023 interview.

David Gilmour Discussed Pink Floyd’s Unconventional Tracks in a 2011 Interview

“Careful With That Axe, Eugene” was featured on the Pink Floyd album, 1969’s Ummagumma. According to Ultimate Classic Rock, Pink Floyd guitarist and vocalist David Gilmour referenced the band’s unusual and unconventional tracks, such as the tunes featured on Ummagumma, in a 2011 interview with Rolling Stone magazine.

“We were fairly brave, and would put anything on a record that amused us one way or another. But in some of those moments we were floundering about, and didn’t have our forward momentum very clear, and inspiration might have been a bit thin on the ground at times,” said Gilmour to Rolling Stone.

He then mentioned the band’s 13-minute track, “Psychedelic Breakfast,” off their 1970 album, Atom Heart Mother, and 1971’s “Echoes” as songs that went outside the box.

“Moving on from our ‘Psychedelic Breakfast’ moments – which is great in its way, but I’d never want to listen to it really – to something more concrete like ‘Echoes’ was much more satisfying,” said Gilmour during the 2011 interview.

Miranda Lambert is continuing to roll out new songs ahead of the release of her highly anticipated forthcoming album, Crisco. 

On Friday, Sept. 18, the country music superstar, 42, unveiled her tender heartbreak track, “Two Things Can Be True.” Featuring a soundscape of dreamy strings, synthesizers, and steel guitar, the tune transports listeners into another era. 

With its soft arrangement, Lambert sets the tone as she sings the lyrics of the song with a noticeable ache in her signature voice. 

Throughout the track, Lambert, who is happily married to her husband Brendan McLoughlin in real life, explores the complicated emotions of a love triangle. She sings about a relationship in which the man she loves is falling for someone else while the two remain together, capturing the emotional contradiction at the heart of the song and its title.

Of the track, Lambert shared via a press release: “‘Two Things Can Be True’ is probably my favorite song on the record right now. There’s something about it that feels almost like singing a duet with the steel and strings, and it’s country through and through with an old-school Patsy Cline feeling. I love that it found its own little corner of the Crisco world.”

“Two Things Can Be True” comes after Lambert’s recognition with seven CMA Award nominations as an artist, songwriter, and producer. Among those nominations are honors connected to her work on Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas,” including Single of the Year and Song of the Year. 

The track also follows four early album previews, including “Sunset Marquise,” “Till The Going’s Gone,” her duet with Chris Stapleton on “A Song To Sing,” and the title track, “Crisco,” which Lambert delivered a live performance debut of at the 61st Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards on May 17, 2026.

Produced by Lambert alongside Jesse Frasure, Crisco arrives on Oct. 2nd via MCA.

There’s no arguing that for many, taking a GLP-1 drug (aka glucagon-like peptide-1 drugs, which are commonly known by brand names like Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro and Zepbound) can be life-changing. The first GLP-1 was created to treat the symptoms of type 2 diabetes, per GoodRx. But in recent years, GLP-1s have developed to treat obesity as well.

And though many people are thrilled with the way GLP-1s have affected their health and their bodies, some patients on these drugs have reported issues with hair loss and hair thinning. If you have any concerns about changes in your hair growth or body related to your medication, you should consult your doctor.

But if you are simply looking for a new way to style your thinning hair, look no further. Marcos Diaz, a celebrity hairstylist based in New York City (whose clients include Katy Perry, Sienna Miller and Hailey Bieber) and Andrea Claire, a hair and makeup artist (whose celebrity clients include Seal, Henry Golding and Alanis Morissette) are here to help.

We recently spoke with both stylists to find out what haircuts they recommend for those experiencing hair thinning on GLP-1s, and below, they share their expertise on exactly what you should ask your stylist. Spoiler alert: all the cuts are on the shorter side.

“As a general rule of thumb, whenever you go shorter with hair, it can make the overall profile and silhouette look thicker,” Diaz explains to Parade. “When someone already has thin hair and continues growing it longer, the ends can start to look thinner and wispier.”

Do GLP-1s Cause Hair Thinning?

Although many people on GLP-1s experience hair thinning, this side effect has not been proven to be directly caused by the medication.

For instance, a June 2026 study published in BMJ noted that changes in nutritional health and weight loss, two main effects of GLP-1 drugs, are already known as risk factors for telogen effluvium, which is a rapid yet temporary form of hair loss.

However, the drug itself can potentially directly cause hair loss in some situations. The same study found that for patients with type 2 diabetes, taking a GLP-1 was associated with a slightly increased (though still fairly low) risk of non-scarring alopecia (which is when hair falls out, but the follicles aren’t destroyed and the hair can grow back).

3 Best Haircuts for Thinning Hair on GLP-1s, According to Stylists

Here’s what they recommend.

1. Bob

For thinning hair, Diaz recommends “a bob that hits around the shoulders or slightly above.”

“Bobs are great for thinning hair as shorter styles have less weight pulling on the follicles, vs. longer styles, which can stress the follicles with heaviness,” Claire says. “A bob cut can create an illusion of weight and movement which is often compromised with thinning hair.”

What to tell your stylist if you want a bob

When getting a bob, Diaz recommends telling your stylist to avoid “over-layering” your bob, “because once you start taking too much weight out of it, it defeats the purpose of trying to make the hair look fuller.” But Claire explains that a few “layers can help create an illusion of thickness and movement.”

That being said, she warns, “Avoid thinning shears. If your hair is thinning to begin with this will add to the problem.”

And because bobs can vary so much, Claire recommends working with your stylist to determine the right length for you. “Don’t just say you want a bob. Bobs can be micro short, to just above the shoulders,” she says.

Make sure to look in the mirror with your stylist and consider all different lengths and styles, based on what will best suit your face shape, profile and preferences (such as being able to tuck your hair behind your ears, etc.).

2. Graduated bob

A graduated bob is a bob that gets gradually shorter as you go from the front to the back.

Diaz thinks a graduated bob is “a super chic haircut, and the shorter shape can make the overall profile and silhouette look stronger.”

Claire agrees that this haircut is a great choice for people with fine hair. She notes that it’s also known as a stacked bob, and is typically “cut with elevation to create an illusion of weight.”

What to tell your stylist if you want a graduated bob

Diaz says you can “ask for a graduated bob that hits around the chin or above,” but make sure it’s tailored to your head shape. “The most important thing is making sure the haircut follows and respects the head shape and doesn’t remove too much of the weight you’re trying to preserve,” he advises.

“The big thing to discuss here is how exaggerated do you want your graduation to be,” adds Claire, adding that too much graduation is never a good look.

“Just make sure the graduation doesn’t hit the ‘I want to speak to your manager’ tipping point,” she jokes.

3. Pixie cut

“There are so many different versions of a pixie, and you can find one that works with different hair types, whether the hair is curly, wavy or straight,” Diaz tells Parade. “Again, going shorter can make the overall profile and silhouette of the hair look stronger.”

“So many women are afraid of pixie cuts, but done well with the right perimeter for your face shape, this cut can defy thinning hair,” adds Claire. “The texture that’s often cut into pixies can create a diffused illusion gently hiding the thinning roots.”

What to tell your stylist if you want a pixie cut

Diaz and Claire agree that when going from longer hair to a pixie cut, the most important thing to understand is your natural hair texture.

“Hair texture will impact how a pixie sits and the limits your hair might have,” explains Claire, adding that “pixies generally look best when cut with a lot of texture and different lengths.”

It’s also important to work with your stylist to get the perfect length—too long, and it could give off “combover vibes,” says Claire. Too short, and it’s no longer a pixie, but nearing buzzcut territory.

“Ask for a pixie that works with their head shape and natural hair texture, with movement and a shape that feels easy … to style and wear,” advises Diaz.

Just weeks after Lindsay Clancy’s murder trial ended in a mistrial, her ex-husband Patrick Clancy is sharing his side of the story on 60 Minutes.

In a preview of the highly anticipated interview, which will also include his new wife, Dr. Rachel Danis, Clancy is asked if he’s angry at himself or feels like he failed in some way following the death of his three kids.

“I think I did the best I could with what I had at the time,” Clancy said. “And I live with the outcome. I live with it every day. But I think I did the best I could.”

As expected, Clancy’s decision to appear on national television shortly after his ex-wife’s highly publicized murder trial has divided the internet.

“I thought the Prince Andrew interview about Epstein was a bad idea — then Patrick and Rachel came along and made that one look good,” one person wrote on X. Another added, “No one knows the real story behind the scenes. This interview is just a song and dance. People now need to move on.”

Joining Clancy in the interview is his new wife, who defends the mourning father-of-three.

“I don’t understand how the story has been so twisted,” Danis shared. “I would hope people know that Pat is the most selfless father and supportive partner.”

When Clancy took the stand in August 2026, he revealed that he was “hopeful” that his ex-wife was doing better mentally, but knew something was wrong when he got home on January 24, 2023.

“She didn’t talk about our kids, she talked about what she went through,” Clancy said of a phone call from his then-wife at the hospital. “She said she heard a man’s voice telling her that if she didn’t do it now, she would lose her chance – or something like that.”

Prosecutors are still weighing next steps in the Lindsay Clancy case.

Carrot Top is hospitalized and recovering following a reported suicide attempt, according to his representative.

The comedian, whose real name is Scott Christopher Thompson, was rushed to the hospital in Las Vegas late Friday, Sept. 18. His Friday night performance at the Luxor resort was canceled as a result.

In a statement to People, Carrot Top’s representative shared an update on his condition.

“Mr. Thompson is recovering in the hospital and is receiving the care and support he needs,” the rep told the outlet. “His family and those closest to him are deeply grateful for the concern, prayers and respectfully ask for privacy.”

The representative did not provide any additional details about what led to Carrot Top’s hospitalization.

According to Ticketmaster and other ticketing sites, Carrot Top’s show scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 19 also appears to be canceled. Carrot Top has held a residency at the Luxor since 2005.

The comedian’s hospitalization comes days after a new allegation was made against him as part of an ongoing legal dispute.

On Monday, Sept. 14, 25-year-old Zachary Defazio filed a declaration in Broward County, Florida, in support of a lawsuit brought by singer Brian Evans against Carrot Top. In the declaration, Defazio described himself as “a second independent victim” of the comedian.

“I am coming forward in Evans’ cases because what he has told this Court about Thompson’s pattern, as it concerns me, is true, and because I support him,” Defazio’s declaration reads.

Defazio alleges that Carrot Top sexually exploited him and supplied him with alcohol at his home in Winter Park, Florida, in 2021, when Defazio was 19.

Defazio previously took legal action against Carrot Top in 2025 and, according to Orlando Weekly, sought a $7.5 million settlement. That case was dropped on Sept. 11, according to Defazio’s declaration.

Evans, a former opening act for Carrot Top’s Las Vegas shows, filed a lawsuit against him in July alleging that the comedian sent him an unsolicited sexually explicit video in 2022 or 2023. Evans said he was “immediately shocked, disturbed and offended” by the video.

Evans initially filed the case in federal court in July, but voluntarily dismissed it without prejudice on Aug. 6. He then refiled the lawsuit in Broward County Circuit Court that same day.

Tom Petty‘s second solo album, 1994’s Wildflowers, features several hit songs, including “Wildflowers,” “You Don’t Know How It Feels,” and “To Find A Friend.”

“To Find A Friend” opens up with an image of a middle-aged man ending his marriage. In an interview about the Wildflower record from the 2021 documentary, Tom Petty: Somewhere You Feel Free, Petty explained that the events depicted in “To Find a Friend” mirror his and his first wife, Jane Benyo‘s breakup.

“‘To Find a Friend,’ it’s just a beautiful little song, but I think subconsciously it probably had something to do with my life, you know, because I was becoming disenchanted with my marriage at the time,” said Petty, who finalized his divorce from Benyo in 1996 after 22 years of marriage.

He clarified that while his and Benyo’s “marriage was falling apart” during the production of Wildflowers, he didn’t think he was intentionally trying to make an album about a divorce.

“I wasn’t really thinking along a thematic line. But when I hear it, I can see that it was working in the back of my mind somewhere,” said the musician, who died in 2017 at the age of 66.

Petty and Benyo’s daughter, Adria Petty, now 51, also shared her thoughts about how her parents’ divorce impacted the making of Wildflowers. During an interview seen in Somewhere You Feel Free, Adria said that while her mother and father’s bond “was crazy big,” she noticed that “there were things on this record,” specifically in “To Find a Friend,” “where you’re like, ‘Oh, okay, a paper in the wind, I get it.'”

“You’re preparing us for the cliché of what you’re about to have to go through to get out of this relationship,” continued Adria.

In addition, she said that the Wildflower album has several lines “that are so indicative of [her father] being in a time of change.”

“He had sort of this complete escape in the music at that point. There’s not any other album I can point to in particular that so strongly reflected what his psychological state of mind was at the time that he was making it. So in that way, I think it’s very personal,” said Adria in the interview.

Long before Lita Ford became one of the most recognizable women in 1980s hard rock, she was a teenage guitarist trying to keep up with her heroes.

Born Sept. 19, 1958, in London, England, Ford moved with her family to the United States when she was 7, eventually settling in Long Beach, California. Inspired in particular by Deep Purple guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, she picked up the guitar at 11. Just five years later, she was recruited to join the Runaways.

Today, Ford turns 68.

As the Runaways’ lead guitarist, Ford helped give the groundbreaking all-female band its hard-rock edge alongside Joan Jett, Cherie Currie, Sandy West and Jackie Fox. The group released its self-titled debut in 1976 and became an international touring act while its members were still teenagers. But musical differences eventually divided the band, with Jett favoring a more punk-oriented direction while Ford and West wanted to remain rooted in hard rock. The Runaways broke up in 1979.

Ford was far from done, though her rise to stardom wouldn’t always be easy.

“Back in the early 1980s, there were no other girls out there that could play like I could play,” she told Guitar Player in 2026. “And I had to prove it was me playing those songs, because nobody could accept it.”

Ford eventually set out on her own, releasing Out for Blood in 1983 and Dancin’ on the Edge the following year. Her real commercial breakthrough came after she signed with RCA and began working with Sharon Osbourne as her manager. Ford’s 1988 album Lita reached No. 29 on the Billboard 200 and was eventually certified platinum.

The album produced Ford’s signature solo hit, “Kiss Me Deadly,” which climbed to No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100. But an even bigger hit was waiting.

As Ford tells it, the inadvertent collaboration with Ozzy Osbourne was “a mistake” that happened at the tail end of a day at the studio.

“Ozzy stayed, Sharon got bored and left, and me and Ozzy had a couple of drinks and we were jamming,” Ford told Metal Underground in 2012. “There was a little side room with a guitar and keyboard and we started messing around, singing and playing, and we wrote ‘Close My Eyes Forever.’ Next thing I know the sun was coming up. I looked at him and I went ‘Uh-oh, we’re in trouble.'”

Sharon Osbourne immediately heard a hit in the song and urged the two to record it immediately. Released as a single in 1989, the duet reached No. 8 on the Hot 100, making it the highest-charting single of Ford’s career.

Neither of Ford’s two Grammy nominations, however, was for her duet with Ozzy. She earned her first Grammy nomination in 1985, when Dancin’ on the Edge was nominated for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance. Eight years later, she received a second nomination in the same category for her 1991 single “Shot of Poison,” further establishing her as one of the most prominent female rock artists of her time.

Ford’s pioneering work as a guitarist has earned her some particularly fitting honors in the decades since. In 2014, she was awarded Guitar Player‘s Certified Legend Award “as the first female shredder” and was inducted into the magazine’s Hall of Fame. Three years later, she received the Icon Award at the She Rocks Awards, which honors women in the music industry. Ford was inducted into the Metal Hall of Fame in 2019, recognizing a career that helped open doors for women in hard rock and heavy metal.

There is even a piece of Ford’s history in Cleveland: In 2021, one of her distinctive B.C. Rich Warlock guitars, which she named “Maurice” after Samantha Stephens’ warlock father in the Bewitched television series, was placed on exhibit at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

“He was a badass,” Ford told the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. “And so I named my guitar, the Warlock, I mean, I thought, it just doesn’t get any cooler than that…I have to name my guitar Maurice. And now he’s iconic.”

Just like she is.

After stepping away from recording for more than a decade while raising her two sons, Ford returned to performing in 2008 and has continued touring and recording ever since.

For all the recognition, Ford doesn’t make much of the trail she blazed. When asked by Guitar World in 2024 if she had come to realize that she was a pioneer at a time when relatively few women were playing lead guitar, Ford was characteristically matter-of-fact.

“I wasn’t trying to carve out a path or the way for whatever was coming behind me,” she said. “I just wanted to be a leader, and I just wanted to play guitar.”

But the female guitarists who have come up in her wake might disagree. Guitar Player reported this year that Lzzy Hale of Halestorm credits Ford with “kicking the door down” for the generations of female guitarists who followed her.

And the pioneering rocker isn’t spending her 68th birthday looking backward. She has been working on a long-awaited new studio album and said this summer that she hoped to release it this fall.

Even more fittingly, Ford will celebrate her birthday exactly where a guitarist who first joined a rock band at 16 might want to be: onstage. She is scheduled to perform tonight at the Rose Music Center in Huber Heights, Ohio, alongside Dokken and Lynch Mob.

More than half a century after joining the Runaways, Lita Ford is still cranking the volume.
