This 1983 'Cheers' Episode Released 43 Years Ago and Ranked 'Best TV Episodes of All Time'
Ted Danson as ex-jock bartender Sam Malone in Cheers will always be a TV sitcom staple. In 1983, Cheers released its Season 1 two-part finale, which was a giant success among fans and was ranked as one of the best TV episodes to have ever been released.
Rolling Stone's Top of the "Best TV Episodes of All Time" has some home runs fromSeinfeld's "The Contest," a The Sopranos favorite, to their number one choice being a Breaking Bad episode. Cheers' "Showdown" episode holds its own praise for a few reasons, one of them being nominated for a jaw-dropping thirteen Emmys and taking home five wins.
The list puts a bigger emphasis on Part 2 of the first-season finale, and ranks the episode as No. 7 on the list. The crux of the episode's storyline is the "long-simmering romantic tension" between Sam and his pretentious waitress Diane Chambers (Shelley Long). Sitcom fans had been waiting for this "will they finally reveal their true feelings" moment for an entire season, with the finale finally giving them the climax.
"Showdown" Part 1 involved Sam's jealousy towards his brother Derek (George Bill) whose wildly more successful than him and will be visiting. Upon his brother's early arrival, everyone becomes enamored with his success, charm, and solves the problems of series regulars like teaching Coach (George Bill) Spanish. The main focus of the issue is when Derek catches Diane's interest, and they hit it off with their similar interests.

Part 1 of the episode ends with the two going on a date in Derek's private jet, with "Showdown" Part 2 further adding fuel to the fire of Sam's pent-up tension and feelings for Diane. The second half of the season finally has Diane become conflicted with her ideal man, Derek, and her "bubblegum" Sam. Coach insists that Sam has a hard time expressing his feelings, with Sam firing her after Diane tells him she and Derek are going on another trip.
When Diane says goodbye to everyone at the bar and accidentally hits Sam on the nose as she enters the office, she becomes convinced he was on his way to tell her something. Cheers' "The Showdown" ends up in a heated lovers' quarrel that leads to an ending kiss that studio audiences erupted in applause over.
"Showdown" Part 2 aired on March 31 to considerably good ratings. Graphic designers James Castle and Brucy Bryant won awards at the 1983 Emmys for Part 1, with James Burrows winning an Emmy for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series for Part 2.

Former Fleetwood Mac Star Lindsey Buckingham Reportedly Attacked By Stalker
Lindsey Buckingham, of Fleetwood Mac fame and infamy, was reportedly recently attacked in Santa Monica while trying to attend a prescheduled appointment.
NBC4, a local Los Angeles affiliate, broke the news, revealing that a stalker of the rock legend was apparently waiting inside of the building when he arrived and threw an unidentified substance at the rocker when he stepped inside. Law enforcement sources told the outlet that she then fled.
The woman has been identified, though her name has not been revealed to the public at this time. She has apparently been involved in "past incidents" with Buckingham and has not been apprehended at the time of writing, but investigators said they expect to arrest her soon.
According to the outlet, the guitarist was not injured in the incident. He has not yet released a statement regarding the attack or the investigation.

It's unclear how the suspect found out when and where Buckingham was scheduled to be, nor what charges may be pending against her at this time, but Santa Monica police and LAPD are collaborating on the case.
In December of 2024, Buckingham secured a temporary restraining order against a then-52-year-old woman named Michelle, which ordered her to stay 100 yards away from him, his wife Kristen, and his son, William Buckingham.
According to court documents obtained by In Touch at the time, she had allegedly been harassing him and his family since 2021, going so far as to obtain the family's cell phone numbers, calling incessantly every day and leaving messages in which she claimed to be his daughter and lobbied threats to harm him and his family.
Eventually, she began showing up at their home, and even reportedly swatted the family, sending police to detain them and ransack the house over a false 911 call. He was later granted a permanent restraining order, which is not so permanent, as it expires in December 2029.
There's no indication yet if this incident involved the same or a different woman.

The Official ‘Most Beautiful Drive in America’ Has Clear Alpine Lakes, Mountain Ranges, and Year-Round Snowy Views
If there’s one road trip in America that truly lives up to the hype, it’s the Beartooth Highway. Legendary broadcaster Charles Kuralt famously dubbed the Beartooth Highway "the most beautiful drive in America," and this high-altitude drive lives up to the label. There is jaw-dropping scenery at nearly every turn, from crystal-clear alpine lakes to snow-covered peaks that linger even in summer.
Related: This Car Was Named the Best Choice for Road Trips in 2026
A Drive Like No OtherStretching roughly 68–69 miles between Red Lodge, Montana, and the northeast entrance of Yellowstone National Park, the route climbs dramatically from around 5,000 feet to an astonishing 10,947 feet at Beartooth Pass, making it one of the highest highways in the country. Along the way, you’ll travel through multiple ecosystems, from dense pine forests to wide-open alpine tundra where trees disappear, and the landscape feels almost otherworldly.
What makes this drive so unique is how accessible the views are; you don’t need to hike miles to experience them. Many of the best panoramas are just steps from your car, making it one of the most rewarding scenic drives in the U.S.

♬ Brunch (Lofi) - Muspace Lofi The Scenery Along the WayThe scenery on Beartooth Highway changes constantly, which is part of its magic. Early in the drive, you’ll wind through forested valleys and waterfalls before climbing into rugged mountain terrain.
As you gain elevation, expect sweeping views of the Absaroka and Beartooth mountain ranges, with more than 20 peaks towering above 12,000 feet.
At higher elevations, the landscape opens up into vast alpine plateaus dotted with glacial lakes, some still partially frozen even in mid-summer. Snowbanks often line the road well into July, creating a surreal contrast against bright blue skies.
Wildlife sightings are also common, with chances to spot mountain goats, marmots, and even bears in the surrounding areas.

Best Scenic Stops for PhotosWhile the entire drive feels like one long scenic overlook, there are a few must-stop spots you shouldn’t miss:
- Rock Creek Vista Point: One of the most iconic viewpoints, offering panoramic views of a deep canyon and winding road below.
- Beartooth Pass Summit: At nearly 11,000 feet, this is the highest point on the highway and a perfect place for photos (and a quick break to take in the views).
- Alpine Lake Pullouts: Numerous unnamed lakes sit just off the road, providing mirror-like reflections of the surrounding peaks.
- Top of the World Store Area: A popular stopping point for snacks, souvenirs, and sweeping views of the plateau.
The best part? There are dozens of pull-offs along the route, so you can stop frequently without planning every detail.
@christina_ricoThe Beartooth Highway is a scenic route that connects Red Lodge, Montana to the Northeast Entrance of Yellowstone National Park (near Cooke City). You can go either way, though! This highway is home to grizzly and black bears, elk, deer, moose, goats and so much more! There’s many different hikes and areas to stop along the way, making it an amazing “activity” to do if you’re on a road trip to Montana or Wyoming. We visited Montana, and as we were heading south to Colorado and then Arizona, we made sure to drive the Beartooth Highway! We drove from Red Lodge to Cooke City. Things to know: •Highway starts at ~5,000 feet •The highway climbs to an impressive ~11,000 feet •It can be quite windy, so pack layers •Only open Memorial Day - early October •Plan for 2-3 hours, as you will want to stop every few miles…it’s BEAUTIFUL! •You will cross the “45th parallel” which is the exact halfway point between the North Pole and the Equator!! •There’s 950+ alpine lakes in the Beartooth Mountain Range I highly recommend driving this scenic route at least once in your life! #Hiketok #hikers #hikingbabes #hikebabe #adventuremore #adventuretok #adventurelife #hikinglife #hikeutah #hikemontana #hikewashington #pnwlife #exploremore #hikemore #hikingaz #azhiker #azhikes #hikingtips #hikinghacks #campingtips #camptips #camping #campersoftiktok #campingtips #beartoothpass #beartoothmountains #beartoothhighway #scenicdrive #roadtrip
♬ Ends of the Earth - Lord Huron When Is the Best Time to Go?Timing is everything when it comes to Beartooth Highway. Due to extreme weather and heavy snowfall, the road is only open seasonally, typically from late May (around Memorial Day) through early October. The best overall time to visit is late June through September because there is ideal weather, clear roads, and full access to viewpoints
What to expect by month:
- June: Snowbanks still line the road, creating dramatic scenery
- July–August: Warmest temperatures and easiest driving conditions
- September: Fewer crowds and beautiful early fall colors
For photography, mid-morning through mid-afternoon offers the best lighting, illuminating the valleys and mountain peaks.
Tips for Driving the HighwayWhile the drive is incredibly rewarding, it does require a bit of preparation:
- Allow plenty of time: The drive itself takes about 2–3 hours, but most travelers spend half a day or more stopping for photos and short walks
- Check weather conditions: Snow can fall even in summer at higher elevations
- Fuel up beforehand: There are limited services along the route
- Be comfortable with mountain driving: The road features steep switchbacks and high elevations
The Beartooth Highway isn’t just a scenic drive; it’s one of the most unforgettable road trips in the country. With its combination of alpine lakes, towering peaks, and ever-changing landscapes, it delivers a level of natural beauty that’s hard to match.
Whether you’re visiting Yellowstone National Park or planning a standalone road trip, this highway is worth carving out time for. Just be prepared to stop often because around every corner, there’s another view you won’t want to miss.
Dolly Parton's Latest Donation Called a 'Lifeline' by CEO
Dolly Partonhas made a donation so significant that the CEO of a children's hospital is struggling to find words big enough to describe it.
Matt Schaefer, president and CEO of what is now officially Dolly Parton Children's Hospital in East Tennessee, sat down with Chief Healthcare Executive on Monday, March 30, to speak about Parton's contribution to the institution.
While he declined to reveal the exact figure, his description of it left little to the imagination. "What I can tell you is that she has made a generational and transformational commitment to Children's and its mission, and that commitment is something that goes beyond our wildest expectations, that is beyond generous, and will be a lifeline for this mission for now and for years to come," he said.
Schaefer described meeting the 80-year-old country legend as a "surreal moment," praising her "incredibly disarming personality" and the genuine passion she brought to the conversation. "It was truly humbling, and to hear her, in her own words, talk about the importance of this to her, to her community, to this organization, and to children, was super affirming," he said.

The donation is expected to fund an expanded roster of doctors, new programs and technology, and increased fundraising efforts. Schaefer also spoke about the impact Parton's name and legacy brings to the table. "To have the halo effect of everything she stood for in her life, including her love for children in particular, it just is fantastic for the future of our mission," he said.
The hospital's renaming was announced in February, when Parton shared the news via Instagram in a characteristically warm video message. "I've always believed that every child deserves a fair chance to grow up healthy, hopeful and surrounded with love," she said, before encouraging the public to get involved.

Classic ‘70s Sitcom Ended Its Six-Season Run 48 Years Ago Today— Fans Still Celebrate Its Timeless Humor
On April 1, 1978, The Bob Newhart Show aired its final episode. The popular sitcom aired from September 16, 1972, to April 1, 1978, on CBS, producing 142 episodes over its six-season run.
Bob Newhart played Chicago psychologist Bob Hartley in the series, while Suzanne Pleshette played his wife, Emily. Other cast members included Bill Daily, Marcia Wallace, Peter Bonerz, and regularly seen “patients” played by Jack Fiedler, Florida Friebus, and more.
For many fans, the show’s best remembered episode is the 1975 Thanksgiving episode titled “Over the River and Through the Woods.”The episode featured Dr. Hartley and his male pals getting drunk while watching Turkey Day football and ordering “moo goo goo goo” for dinner.
Newhart once told Parade it was his favorite episode of the series. “'Over the River and Through the Woods,’ where we do the best job we can, having drunk a lot of alcohol, trying to pronounce moo goo gai pan,” he said in 2022.

On the series finale, titled “Happy Trails to You,” Bob and Emily decided to leave Chicago for Oregon, thus saying goodbye to the beloved TV characters.
Nearly 50 years later, fans still talk about the classic sitcom on social media. In a recent Reddit thread, one fan described it as ”one of the best sitcoms of all time."
“Great show, great cast,” another agreed.
In March 2026, another Reddit user wrote, “All six seasons of The Bob Newhart Show are back on Amazon Prime."

Newhart almost rebooted his classic TV showNewhart was already a successful actor and stand-up comedian when he landed his CBS sitcom. In an interview with The A.V. Club, he revealed that he was drawn to TV as a way to spend more time with his young family.
“I didn’t want to be on the road,” Newhart said. “I wanted to be home and live a somewhat normal life. I was approached at that point by Arthur Price, who was also my co-manager at that time. He and Mary Tyler Moore and Grant Tinker formed MTM [Enterprises], and he said, 'Would you like to do a situation comedy?' And I said, 'Yeah. Get me off the road in some kind of normal life.'"
Even though The Bob Newhart Show ended, Newhart never planned to leave television for good. He even considered a reboot of his sitcom.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter in 2018, Newhart recalled, “I knew I was coming back to television because I loved it — I loved television, the immediacy of the audience.”
“We had considered maybe picking up the show five years later or something like that,” he shared. “Then we decided to not go that direction, because we’d used six years of material! Suzanne Pleshette also wanted to do a Broadway show.”
Newhart ultimately returned to TV with the sitcom Newhart. The actor starred as Vermont innkeeper Dick Loudon from 1982 to 1990, receiving three Primetime Emmy Award nominations over eight seasons.
“I realized how similar a hotel was to what The Bob Newhart Show had been,” Newhart told the outlet. “The patients were the guests at the hotel, and no matter how crazy they were, you had to do what they wanted you to do, and you go along.”

'Britain's Got Talent' Star Susan Boyle Turns 65: Where is the Singer Now?
Everyone remembers the moment Susan Boyle walked on the Britain's Got Talent stage for her audition and turned a moment of skepticism into a jaw-dropping display of talent. Boyle celebrates her 65th birthday on April 1, with the singer still making her dreams come true.
Back in 2009, Boyle was 47 years old when she auditioned for the hit competition series during Season 3. Everyone watched as the judges and even the audience weren't convinced that the woman from Scotland would be a star. Her rendition of "I Dreamed a Dream" fromLes Misérables proved she was a rare talent.
Boyle got through the entire Season 3 competition but landed as the runner-up to the winners, street dance group Diversity. Despite not taking home the win, Boyle became an international star with her debut album, I Dreamed a Dream, becoming one of the best-selling albums of the 21st century.
She made history by also releasing her second album, The Gift, in 2010 and topping both the US and UK album charts. Her third studio album, Someone to Watch Over Me, also gained chart-topping success and a cover of "I Know Him So Well" with Geraldine McQueen. It's been 17 years since she rose to stardom thanks to Britain's Got Talent, so where is she now?
Where is Susan Boyle now?Boyle continues to release new music, and recently returned to Instagram after taking a two-year hiatus.
Since 2009, Boyle has released eight successful studio albums and has toured across the world. Her official website reads that she "continues to perform and record, proving that talent knows no age and that dreams, no matter how long held, can come true."
In 2019, she celebrated her 10th anniversary since the start of her career with a compilation album titled Ten and went on tour. The singer has kept a low profile amid health concerns and complications. According to NBC, while performing "I Dreamed a Dream" on BGT in June 2023, she revealed having suffered a minor stroke the year before.

On Instagram, she detailed having had to work "so hard to get my speech and singing back, with the sole aim of being able to sing on stage again."
On April 1, 2025, her birthday, she returned to Instagram and revealed the exciting news of working on new projects. She has since kept fans updated on her progress and posted photos of her working hard in the studio. She even announced her excitement to be joining Summer's End Angus 2026 in Scotland as her first-ever festival performance.
Boyle also gave a shoutout to Timothee Chalamet, who praised her iconic 2009 performance. She even supported his recent film, Marty Supreme, and performed a serenade in honor of his birthday.
Bestselling Author’s Novel Ranked ‘Greatest Audiobook of All Time’ on Goodreads
When your eyes are busy, your ears are still open. Enter: audiobooks.
Not all audiobooks are created equal, however. An uncommitted narrator can kill the experience. So, for a solid "read," you want to listen for immersive narration, stellar production quality, and peak emotional tone. Bonus points if the author or chosen reader does different voices or accents for the characters.
For readers over on Goodreads, it doesn’t get better than Wil Wheaton’s narration in Ernest Cline’s Ready Player One, a sci-fi thrill ride that tops a list the outlet says “covers the crème de la crème from all corners of our library.”
The story is set in the year 2044, when “reality is an ugly place” and people find happiness only when they’re plugged into OASIS, a virtual utopia whose creator has hidden an Easter egg that’ll bring massive power and fortune to whomever finds it. Protag Wade Watts, who stumbles onto the first clue, then finds himself at the mercy of a life-or-death race to win the ultimate prize.
"The D & D Vortex" - Pictured: Will Wheaton (himself) and Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons).Photo by CBS Photo Archive on Getty Images
Wheaton, an actor and voice actor you might recognize from Stand by Me, Star Trek: The Next Generation, and The Big Bang Theory, is engaging, immersive, and perfectly captures Wade’s voice in a fast-paced story. Readers say Wheaton’s narration is so good, they feel as though they are pulled into the story, with the audiobook feeling more like an addictive, high-stakes game than reading a book.
“Thankfully I listened to the audio book read by Wil Wheaton. I almost gave up a couple times but I couldn’t 'put it down' the last few hours,” PBS Book Readers Club writes on Facebook.
“Listening to Ready Player One is as addictive as playing MMORPGs. Who knew RPG lit is a thing? Not me! I flew through RPO in a matter of days. Mind you, I had some qualms with the story, which is the only reason I didn’t finish the book in one day, but I enjoyed RPO more than expected and it didn’t hurt that Wil Wheaton did ALL the voices,” Geek Mom shares, including that RPO changed her mind about audiobooks being cheat reads.
"The audiobook was phenomenal," a reader on Goodreads writes.
“I really enjoyed listening to this book. Wil Wheaton is a great narrator!” another says.

Netflix's Emmy Award-winning docu-reality show Love on the Spectrumis returning for Season 4 on April 1, and the new cast list includes a number of familiar faces and some brand-new ones as well.
Love on the Spectrum follows the dating lives of multiple people on the autism spectrum, from those who have had long-term relationships to those who are just getting started in the dating world.
Each season features a mix of returning cast members and new daters, and Season 4 will be no exception. In addition to some of the fan-favorite cast members from prior seasons, these new episodes will feature three new romantic hopefuls, some of them dipping their toes into the dating world for the very first time.
Here's everyone confirmed by Tudum to be appearing in Love on the Spectrum Season 4.

After trying out some dates in Season 2 that ultimately didn't work out, Connor found love in Season 3 with Georgie, who will also be returning this season. The couple hit it off over shared interests, including a love of the animated show The Dragon Prince and old-fashioned things.
Since Season 3, the couple have reportedly been enjoying a range of experiences, including a visit to the Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament, for which they upgraded to the "queen's package" to get front row seats, per People. Netflix has confirmed that, in Season 4, Connor and Georgie are still together.

JamesJames is another returning cast member in Season 4, and he has been on Love on the Spectrum since the very first season of the United States version of the show. In early seasons, James went on a series of dates, but he never found a true connection.
That all changed when he met Shelley. Although he did not meet her on the show, Love on the Spectrum did play a role in their relationship, as Shelley reportedly reached out to him after she saw him on the show.
Like Connor and Georgie, Shelley and James' budding romance was bolstered by a shared interest in various shows and movies, as well as their favorite foods. This season, Netflix has confirmed that the happy couple will be looking at houses together—an exciting update on their relationship status.

Madison had her own Disney princess moment on their first date, during which they shared a first kiss and discovered that they both have a love of country music and the same faith. In an interview with People, the couple referred to their meeting as an "act of God" and described a love-at-first-sight experience.
This season, audiences will get to see what the couple is up to following Madison's move to be closer to Tyler, which has allowed them to see each other nearly every day and attend church together weekly, according to Netflix.

That includes reconnecting with friends from school, who saw Georgie on Season 3 and wanted to reach out. Georgie also described being recognized out in public since Season 3 was released, which includes moms hugging her and thanking her for being on the show.
In addition to her Love on the Spectrum connections, Georgie enjoys volunteering, such as by helping to train service dogs. This season, viewers will get to find out more about Georgie's trip to London with Connor.

TylerLike his now-girlfriend Madison, Tyler was introduced in Season 3 and immediately revealed a love of everything country, memorably donning a cowboy hat on their very first date, which Madison explained helped her know that he was right for her.
Beyond just a love of music, Tyler, also referred to as "DJ Ty White," is a DJ and writes his own songs. According to Netflix, since appearing on Season 3, Tyler even had the opportunity to record some of his music in Post Malone's Electric Feel Studios in Nashville, Tennessee.
Tyler also shares an experience with Georgie, in that he describes fans coming up to him when he is in public, particularly moms who hug him or ask him to pose for a photo with their children.

ShelleyAlthough Shelley is now with Love on the Spectrum OG James, she did not appear on the show until Season 3. As mentioned, it was Shelley who ignited the romantic spark between her and James, as she watched Love on the Spectrum and then reached out to him.
Shelley, who is originally from England and lived in Japan for several years, is passionate about language and cultures, and she describes a love of learning in general, which is no doubt something on which she and James have been able to connect.
This season, Love on the Spectrum viewers will get to see what the couple's relationship looks like today. According to Netflix, that includes Shelley feeling that being with James is "very easy, comfortable, and right."

Love on the Spectrum will be released on Netflix on April 1, and all seven episodes will drop at the same time.

Why King Charles Won't Meet With Prince Harry During US Trip
King Charles likely won’t see his son Prince Harry during his visit to the United States in April.
Charles, 77, and wife Queen Camilla, 78, will be in Washington, D.C. from April 27 to 30. During their time, President Donald Trump will host a state banquet dinner at the White House on April 28. From there, Charles will head to Bermuda, marking his first Royal Visit as the reigning monarch to a British Overseas Territory.
A royal insider told People that, given the circumstances of Charles’ trip, Harry, 41, “wouldn’t ask” for a meeting with his father.
"When you’re talking about a state visit, every minute is accounted for — especially when it’s the King traveling as the invited guest of a head of state … Harry knows how things are," a source told People.

Buckingham Palace announced Charles and Camilla’s upcoming travels on March 31.
“On advice of His Majesty’s Government, and at the invitation of The President of the United States, The King and Queen will undertake a State Visit to the United States of America,” their statement posted to social media read. “Their Majesties’ programme will celebrate the historic connections and the modern bilateral relationship between the UK and the US, marking the 250th anniversary of American Independence.”
Harry, for his part, made a rare public appearance in Washington, D.C., on March 31 to speak at the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) Global Summit.

Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, 44, have lived stateside for six years since stepping back from their senior royal duties in 2020. The couple now resides in Montecito, California, with their children, Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4.
The last known meeting between Harry and Charles was in September 2025 at Clarence House in London for a private tea, which reportedly lasted about an hour. The royals reunited after Harry “wrote a handwritten letter” to his father “expressing his desire to reconnect,” a source told Us Weekly at the time.
The reconciliation was a starting point to repair their tense relationship. There were reportedly “hugs and tears,” and the “mood was genuine and positive.”
Their one-hour tea was the first time Harry and Charles had seen each other in 19 months. Before that, the Duke of Sussex made a quick stop to see his father after he publicly announced his diagnosis for an undisclosed cancer in 2024.

The Mountbatten-Windsors’ relationship has been strained for several years. Harry claimed Charles stopped all communication and cut him off financially when he and Meghan stepped back from their royal duties. The Duke then took part in a bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, expressing hurt that the couple did not feel supported within the system. They divulged more information about the hardships they endured in their 2022 Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan. In 2023, Harry shared more of his personal story of growing up as a royal in his memoir, Spare.
Charles’ cancer diagnosis seemed to be the catalyst that brought them back to a place of reconciliation. Harry told The Guardian after their 2025 reunion that he wanted the “focus” to be on their relationship, but he had no regrets about telling “the truth” about his own story.
“I don’t believe that I aired my dirty laundry in public,” he said. “It was a difficult message, but I did it in the best way possible. My conscience is clear.”
You Won't Be Getting Your April Social Security Check Today—Here's When It Actually Arrives
Each month, Social Security recipients receive payments from the U.S. government. And while things definitely feel more consistent for Social Security recipients after the government phased out paper checks in favor of direct deposit and payment cards, there is still some variation in Social Security payments from month to month.
For example, April's payments will be a little different this month, with deposits hitting banks slightly later than usual in some cases. Curious to know when your Social Security check will hit, and what to do if it doesn't arrive when you're expecting it to? Keep reading as we break it down.
What is April's Social Security Benefit ScheduleAccording to the schedule of Social Security payments, recipients can expect to see their April 2026 payments arrive:
- April 8 for those born between the 1st and 10th of the month
- April 15 for those born between the 11th and 20th of the month
- April 22 for those born between the 21st and 31st of the month
Related: This State Was Just Named the Worst Place To Retire in the U.S.
When Will Those Receiving SSI and Social Security Receive Their April PaymentsFor those who are receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI), the payment schedule is slightly different, and recipients can expect to see their April 2026 payments arrive:
- April 1 for those receiving SSI
- April 3 for those receiving both SSI and receiving Social Security benefits prior to May 1997
Unsure if you should be receiving SSI payments? According to the Social Security Administration (SSA), these benefits are only paid out to those who qualify. In order to qualify, you need to be able to prove that you receive little to no other income, that you are limited in resources to be able to earn other income, or if you have a disability, blindness or are over the age of 65.
If you think you should be receiving SSI payments in addition to your Social Security payments, you can find out if you qualify by applying online using the SSA's tools, which also feature a calculator that can let you know how much you may be entitled to.
What to Do if Your Social Security Payments Don't ArriveIf you believe that your payment should've arrived and it hasn't, you should first contact your bank or financial institution to see if there was a delay in posting the payment. If the bank says that it didn't receive your payment, you can reach out to the SSA directly by calling 1-800-772-1213.
You can also contact your local Social Security office as well, which may be faster if the national line is experiencing long wait times. You can find out where your local Social Security office is by visiting the SSA's website and using the agency's office locator tool. If it's determined that your payment has been stolen or is missing, the agency will be able to help you get a new payment issued.
Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor: Inside the Cheating Scandal, Painful Divorce and New Custody Deal
Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor’s relationship has played out very publicly—and very dramatically—for more than a decade now. The Vanderpump Rules stars, whose romance began in Las Vegas before unfolding on reality TV, have taken fans along for every high and low, from a cheating scandal and a televised wedding to the arrival of their son, Cruz, and, ultimately, a split.
With Season 3 of The Valley — the spinoff that was originally meant to showcase Brittany and Jax settling into suburban family life — now here, let’s take a look at where things stand between the exes, including the latest on custody and how they’re navigating life post-breakup.
How did Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor meet?Brittany and Jax first met in 2015, at the Gold Spike in Las Vegas. At the time, Jax was already a main cast member on Vanderpump Rules, which was then in its third season, and Brittany, who worked at a Hooters in Kentucky, had no clue he was a reality TV star.
“He came [up] to me!” she said on her podcast When Reality Hits, which she initially co-hosted with Jax. “There are so many rumors out there that I came to [him] on Instagram or hit [him] up in a DM or whatever.”
Either way, sparks flew and they began a long-distance relationship, traveling back and forth to see each other before Brittany eventually made the move to Los Angeles and into Jax’s “tiny, tiny studio apartment,” she recalled on the podcast. “It had no air conditioning. You couldn’t even dry your hair and have a fan on at the same time or the power went out.”
Brittany first appeared as Jax’s new girlfriend on the fourth season of Vanderpump Rules, and she officially started working at SUR—the restaurant at the center of the show—in May 2016. By Season 6, she was a main cast member.

When did Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor get married?Brittany and Jax exchanged vows on June 29, 2019 at the Kentucky Castle in her home state. The ceremony, which was officiated by Lance Bass, featured heavily in Season 8 of Vanderpump Rules, with guests including cast members Ariana Madix, Stassi Schroeder, Kristen Doute and Lala Kent, among others.
Celebrating their one-year anniversary in 2020, Brittany wrote on Instagram, “Thank you for making me laugh every single day and for being my best friend. You’re my lobster and I love you to pieces.” She filed for divorce about four years later, in August 2024.
Did Jax Taylor cheat on Brittany Cartwright?Yes. Jax cheated on Brittany with former SUR waitress Faith Stowers in 2017, and the fallout became a major storyline on Vanderpump Rules Season 6. (The tension exploded in Episode 2, when Brittany famously told Jax to “rot in hell.”) Following a brief on-again, off-again period, the pair reconciled in December 2017 following the death of Jax’s father, and got engaged in June 2018.
Looking back, Brittany has said she doesn’t believe Jax cheated on her during their marriage. “We worked together. We did everything together,” she explained. “I had all his passwords. I had everything. I would use his phone. He would use my phone. And honestly, he was just sleeping, snoring on the couch, and farting everywhere.”
That said, she admitted she wouldn’t be surprised if he stepped out on her more times than she knew while they were dating. “Because there were times where I just knew he did, but he would just never admit to it, or I could never get 100 percent proof,” she said. “But my gut has never been wrong.”

Are Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor together?Nope. Brittany first announced their separation in February 2024, one month before the premiere of their show The Valley, which was meant to follow the couple into suburban Los Angeles. She revealed the news on her podcast When Reality Hits, which she once cohosted with Jax, telling listeners it was “important to be real and honest” with them.
“I made the decision to move into another home to take some space for the sake of my mental health,” she added.
In August of that year, she filed for divorce. Updating fans on her podcast yet again, she said, “It's taken me many, many years to get to this point where I've gained enough courage and strength to do what was best for me, get myself out of a toxic relationship and ultimately see my worth. It's been very difficult, but I'm stronger than ever and my motivation is my son…who deserves a happy and healthy mommy."
She also seemed to commemorate her divorce filing on Instagram, posting a photo of herself alongside the caption, “Getting my sparkle back.’
View this post on Instagram Why did Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor split?Neither Brittany nor Jax has singled out one reason for their divorce, but from what they’ve shared, it’s clear their relationship was bogged down by unhealthy patterns and toxic behaviors.
After their initial separation, Brittany revealed on an episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen that a particularly messy fight pushed her to move out of her home with Jax.
“...[W]e just had a horrible fight, and it was like the veil was lifted and I noticed everything wrong,” she said. “You know, they always say a woman can hit her breaking point, and then it's hard to come back from that.”
Another turning point, which took place while they were separated, involved Jax throwing furniture after he discovered that Brittany had been messaging his friend Julian. That incident prompted him to enter a 30-day mental health facility, where he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and post traumatic stress disorder.
“It saved my life,” he said of the stay. “I’m probably still here right now because of Brittany and everybody saying, ‘Listen, you need to go.’” (Still, she filed for divorce after his release.)
Jax has also opened up about his alcohol and cocaine addiction, which apparently played a role in his marital issues, too. “I'm glad that he finally admitted to what was really going on,” Brittany said. “For the first time, I can speak openly about the extent of trauma he's instilled on our family over the years.”
How many kids do Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor have together? The reality TV veterans share one son, Cruz, who was born April 12, 2021.
View this post on Instagram Is Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor’s son autistic?Yes. In April 2025, Brittany revealed that her son was diagnosed with autism by his developmental pediatrician in the fall of 2024, before the second season of The Valley wrapped. Her journey navigating her son’s developmental challenges—particularly his speech regression around age 2—was featured as a storyline in the show’s first season.
"Our life is going to look a little bit different, but I feel like I was meant to be his mom," she told People. "He is my better half. He is my little partner in crime. He is everything to me, and even though he can't talk, I know everything that he wants, everything that he needs.”
Did Jax Taylor lose custody of his son?No. Jax and Brittany reached a custody agreement in March 2026, establishing joint legal and physical custody of their son, Cruz. Under the arrangement, Jax will have Cruz every other weekend and on Wednesday nights, while Brittany will have him the rest of the time.
Both parties have also agreed to remain free of alcohol, marijuana or other substances while caring for Cruz.
Why is Jax Taylor not returning to The Valley? In July 2025, Jax revealed that he wouldn’t return for Season 3 of The Valley. “After an incredibly challenging year and many honest conversations with my team and producers, I’ll be stepping away from the next season of The Valley," he said in a statement.
"Right now, my focus needs to be on my sobriety, my mental health, and coparenting. Taking this time is necessary for me to become the best version of myself—especially for our son, Cruz.”
Season 3 of The Valley premieres April 1 on Bravo and streams next day on Peacock.

'Matlock' Sneak Peek: Olympia Visits Shae Behind Bars After Jury Tampering Arrest (Exclusive)
On Matlock, the big trial that Olympia (Skye P. Marshall) is working on along with Matty Matlock (Kathy Bates) and jury consultant Shae Banfield (Yael Grobglas) had a shocking end result when Shae was arrested for jury tampering.
Shae, who is best known as the human lie detector, had a scene earlier that episode where she met with Senior (Beau Bridges), who advised her that her future was only secure in the law firm's pending merger if she won her trial. At least, that was what he implied. That left it so there could be a suspicion that Shae is actually guilty of jury tampering to try to cement her future.
In this exclusive scene from “The Cavalry Isn’t Coming” episode, Olympia is visiting Shae in jail.
Matlock: The Cavalry Isn’t Coming (1:14)“I’ve never been accused of any misconduct,” Shae insists. “Trying to bribe a juror, it’s ridiculous. As is the fact that you aren’t doing anything to stop it.”
“I’m trying, Shae, but a juror was definitely approached, so until I get my hands on whatever the DA thinks they have…” Olympia attempts to reassure her.
Shae interrupts, “They have something false, okay? Someone wanted a mistrial. Flip the table. Heads need to roll.”
Olympia responds, “And they will. I know you didn’t do this.”
“Then why aren’t we having this conversation on the sidewalk?” Shae asks. “You need to get me out of here now. We’re Jacobson Moore. What good is holding all the strings if you can’t pull them?”
Olympia explains, “I did pull them. I am not even supposed to see you until your arraignment.”

Shae gets desperate, “Olympia, I can’t spend the night in this tank with these [she fumbles for a word]…citizens.”
Olympia says, “You won’t. You’ll be transferred to Central Booking. A bigger tank with 60 other citizens. Just get through the night.”
But then Shae’s future becomes even more precarious when Matty is assigned to represent her at trial, creating problems for Matty at home when she has to inform Edwin (Sam Anderson) that their plans for their 50thwedding anniversary have to be put on hold.
Matlock airs Thursday nights at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CBS. Streams next day on Paramount+.
Olipop And Goodwipes' Cheeky April Fools' Prank Has The Internet Begging For It To Be Real
Olipop and goodwipes have collaborated on a new April Fools' Day joke product, Peaches & Cream flushable wipes, which borrow their design and scent from Olipop's actual drink flavor of the same name.
The companies announced their "Peachy Clean" collaboration on April Fools' Day, revealing that the peaches and cream scented wipes are all in good fun, in honor of the prank-fueled holiday.
The April Fools' product rollout included the tagline "Treat your butt as good as your gut," a playful nod to each company's respective product lines—Olipop as a prebiotic soda line and goodwipes as a hygiene brand offering plant-based, flushable wet wipes.
Already, the joke collaboration announcement post is flooded with comments wishing that this April Fools' Day prank was the real deal. One commenter writes, "This better not be a prank 🥲," and another says, "please don't be a joke please don't be a joke."
View this post on InstagramOlipop emerged in 2018 as an alternative to other soda brands, with drinks containing high fiber and 2-5 grams of sugar per can. The brand offers a range of flavors, including traditional soda flavors like Classic Root Beer and Vintage Cola, in addition to creative combinations like Banana Cream and Strawberry Vanilla. Olipop is also vegan, non-GMO, paleo and gluten free.
Founded in 2013, goodwipes is a hygiene brand focused on eco-friendly products, including flushable wipes—or, "actually flushable wipes," as the company's trademark says. The company is dedicated to offering a safe, sustainable option for flushable wipes, as opposed to wipes that may cause damage to plumbing or other concerns, and is therefore a member of the Responsible Flushing Alliance and Association of the Nonwoven Fabrics Industry.
Although the "Peaches and Cream" flushable wipes have now been revealed to be a prank product for April Fools' Day, goodwipes does offer a mix of scents, which includes botanical bliss, lavender, rosewater, cedar and shea-coco. Each brand has also had its fair share of true limited edition collaborations in the past, such as Olipop's Barbie-inspired design (for its Peaches & Cream flavor, incidentally), its limited time Shirley Temple flavor and its Pineapple Paradise SpongeBob-inspired flavor and design.
Nancy Guthrie Update: New Detail Emerges in Back Doors That Were Propped Open—Report
Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie‘s mom, Nancy Guthrie, is still missing eight weeks after the abduction from her Tucson, Ariz., home—and crime journalist Ashleigh Banfield recently speculated about a detail that "really floored" her about the back doors that were propped open.
During the March 31 episode of Drop Dead Serious with Ashleigh Banfield, the former NewsNation host discussed a new tidbit of information her sources told her about the 84-year-old's case.
"Another detail that really floored me was that the perpetrator used Nancy’s flower pots to do this," she shared. “He took her beautiful flower pots—that I can only imagine she spent time nurturing and making beautiful for her back patio—and he used them for his evil f--king plot."
Banfield reiterated, "He took her beautiful flower pots, and he propped open that screen door." She also revealed that the perpetrator reportedly propped open Nancy's back gate with the flower pots.
Additionally, the journalist brought up that Nancy reportedly rarely locked her back doors. "This might have been one of the ones that was unlocked."
Speaking directly to the unknown person or people responsible for Nancy's disappearance, Banfield asked, "What's so fascinating about this is why. Why'd you prop them open? What was the reason that you needed those things to stay open—the back gate and her back kitchen doors, the screen door and the heavy door?"
During an interview with Hoda Kotb that aired on Today on March 26, Savannah revealed new details about Nancy’s home after her disappearance—including that the back doors were left open.
“We thought that she must have had, like, some kind of medical episode in the night. And somehow, the paramedics had come because the back doors were propped open, you know?” Savannah explained of the initial theory she and her siblings, Annie Guthrie and Camron Guthrie, had. “We thought maybe they came, and there was a stretcher, and they took her out the back. But her phone was there, and her purse was there, and all her things. And it just didn’t make any sense.”
Because of Nancy's bad back, her kids quickly ruled out the possibility of her wandering off.

Japanese cooking has long been celebrated for its precision, balance and deep respect for high-quality ingredients. Mastering the perfect bowl of fluffy rice or the delicate layers of a rolled omelet requires more than just technique; it requires the proper equipment designed to balance heat and moisture. Now that we're spending more time in the kitchen, we need cookware that mixes old-school techniques with modern science.
Investing in specialized, high-performance cookware means long-term durability. Home cooks are increasingly moving away from traditional nonstick coatings (think Teflon) in favor of ceramic cookware free from forever chemicals. A well-crafted pan can offer superior temperature control and versatility, transitioning seamlessly from your cooktops to ovens.
