'Welcome to Plathville': Is Ethan Plath Still Dating Teegan Nichols?

Tue, 03/31/2026 - 9:30pm

Welcome to Plathville star Ethan Plathintroduced a new girlfriend, Teegan Nichols, in Season 7 of the TLC series — but are Ethan and Teegan still dating in Season 8 and beyond?

On Tuesday, March 31, the Season 8 premiere of Welcome to Plathville aired on TLC. Ethan revealed during the first half of the episode that he and Teegan had gone their separate ways.

"Me and Teegan broke up," he told producers. "I knew that she was tired of long distance. And I kept telling her that I would move to Wisconsin, and I never did. You can only tell someone so many times, 'I'm going to do this,' and then you don't, that it just doesn't mean anything."

Additionally, Ethan revealed that he and his wife, Olivia Plath — who exited the show after Season 7 — still weren't officially divorced yet.

"That's been extremely frustrating for me in the last year," he admitted. "And it definitely has affected me and Teegan. I've had an attorney for over a year now, and Olivia has ignored him, said, 'I'm out of the country, I'll get back to you whenever I'm home.' And then weeks later, when she comes back, never does anything. So then he has to start over ... and nothing ever has happened."

Despite the hold-up in finalizing his divorce from Olivia, Ethan said he hasn't completely ruled out reconnecting with Teegan.

"Sometimes in life, you're lucky enough to meet somebody that you actually, truly connect with. And not just on a physical level, but in a spiritual, emotional level," he explained. "And that was very much true with me and Teegan. It's hard to move on. I feel like I can't walk away and spend the rest of my life wondering if I could have saved it."

Ethan concluded, "I really, truly feel like there's unfinished business." It's unclear, as of writing, whether Ethan and Teegan reconnected or are still split in real time.

Olivia and Ethan married in 2018, when they were both 20. In 2023, they announced their split after five years of marriage.

Catch new episodes of Welcome to Plathville on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET on TLC and streaming the next day on HBO Max.

Queen Elizabeth Was 'Furious' She Wasn't at Prince Philip's Side When He Died

Tue, 03/31/2026 - 9:17pm

Queen Elizabeth II was not with Prince Philip in his final moments, according to a new biography about the monarch.

Royal biographer Hugo Vickers shares insights into Elizabeth’s life from close royal insiders in his upcoming book, Queen Elizabeth II, coming out in April. The biography also delves into Philip’s final days before his 2021 death, reporting that Elizabeth was not present the day he died.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s health began declining in 2013 when he was reportedly diagnosed with inoperable pancreatic cancer, and in the following years, he had multiple heart procedures that impacted his health. He officially retired from his royal duties in August 2017, and "the Queen let the Duke do exactly as he pleased,” Vickers writes, per People.

Philip relocated to Wood Farm on the Sandringham estate, the secluded five-bedroom farmhouse where he was “happiest.”

During these years, Vickers claims Philip and Elizabeth lived "separate" lives. The Duke enjoyed leisure activities like carriage driving, reading, and painting, while his wife fulfilled her royal duties back at Buckingham Palace.

"From time to time, the Queen went up by train to Norfolk to stay the weekend. Once again, she gave him a loose rein,” Vickers says.

Things changed when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Elizabeth relocated to Windsor Castle from Buckingham Palace and had Philip leave Wood Farm to join her. The elderly couple “entered strict isolation,” Vickers shares, adding their setup was “jokingly nicknamed HMS Bubble, by the Master of the Household, Tony Johnstone-Burt.”

“Nobody was allowed to enter the Upper Ward of the castle, and there were no ladies-in-waiting in attendance,” details Vickers, explaining that Elizabeth and Philip lived in just four rooms of the castle and were taken care of by a “skeleton staff, 22 in total.” The pair lived in isolation together for the remainder of the year, even skipping Christmas at Sandringham with other royal family members.

Philip was in and out of the hospital in early 2021, and he reportedly nearly died during heart surgery in March of that year. His inner circle also began to notice that his short-term memory was deteriorating, claims Vickers.

"He did not want to reach his 100th birthday, particularly disliking the fuss attendant at such events," according to the biography.

The night before he died, Vickers says Philip "gave his nurses the slip, shuffled along the corridor on his Zimmer frame (walker), helped himself to a beer and drank it in the Oak Room. The following morning, he got up, had a bath, said he did not feel well, and quietly slipped away."

Philip died on April 9, 2021, two months before his 100th birthday. He and Elizabeth had been married more than 73 years, the longest of any British royal couple in history. Sadly, she never had the opportunity to say her final farewell to her longtime companion.

"She took the line, I was told, that she was ‘absolutely furious that, as so often in life, he left without saying goodbye,’” Vickers writes.

Philip died at Windsor Castle three weeks after being discharged from the hospital. His passing was a quiet affair, which he would have probably appreciated.

"Due to COVID rules, the number of mourners at Philip's funeral was restricted to 30,” says Vickers. “Nothing would have delighted the Duke more than having such a pared-down farewell."

Elizabeth mourned her husband and sat alone in St. George's Chapel for the funeral service.

Author Gyles Brandreth wrote more details about the monarch’s whereabouts at the time of Philip’s death in his book, Elizabeth: An Intimate Portrait. Brandreth claimed Philip passed quickly, and there wasn’t enough time to get Elizabeth to his bedside.

"When he came back [from the bath], he said he felt a little faint and wanted help getting back into bed," the author wrote, per Daily Mirror. "The nurse called the Duke's valet and the Queen's page, Paul Whybrew, for help — and he died before the Queen could be called."

"The Queen wasn't yet up," said the book, noting Her Majesty was asleep in a separate room. "And she wasn't called until after a doctor had come and pronounced the Duke dead."

Award-Winning Actress, Who Became a '60s Legend, Turns 92

Tue, 03/31/2026 - 9:04pm

Few stars bridged classic Hollywood and television quite like Shirley Jones, who turned 92 on Tuesday.

Born in Charleroi in 1934, Jones began her career as a singer before transitioning into film, where her natural warmth and strong voice quickly set her apart. She gained early recognition starring in classic musicals like Oklahoma! and Carousel, establishing herself as a rising talent in Hollywood.

Her career reached a major milestone when she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Elmer Gantry. The performance marked a dramatic shift from her earlier wholesome roles, showcasing her range and earning widespread critical acclaim.

Jones became a true cultural icon in the 1960s and early '70s with her starring role in The Partridge Family, where she played Shirley Partridge, the matriarch of a musical family band.

"I was the first person cast," Jones told NPR." And they came to me and said, 'Shirley, how do you feel about your stepson David Cassidy?' And I said, 'Why?' And they said, 'Well, we're thinking of him to play, you know, the role in the show.' So I said, 'He'd be perfect for it; that's great.'"

The show became a massive hit and helped define an era of family-friendly television, with Jones' performance anchoring its charm and appeal.

"It wasn’t a stereotyped role," Jones said in a 2012 interview. "I was the first working mother on television. It was a performing family. This was different: it wasn’t Mom putting the roast in the oven."

Across film and television, Jones built a career that balanced musical talent with emotional depth, allowing her to move seamlessly between genres. In more recent years, she has continued to make appearances in television and film, including roles in projects like Days of Our Lives and General Hospital, proving her enduring presence in the industry.

At 92, her legacy remains firmly intact: an award-winning actress who helped shape both Hollywood musicals and television history, leaving an enduring mark on generations of audiences.

Nancy Guthrie Update: Former FBI Agent Challenges Door Theory in Kidnapping

Tue, 03/31/2026 - 9:01pm

Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie‘s mom, Nancy Guthrie, is still missing more than eight weeks after the abduction from her Tucson, Ariz., home—and a retired FBI agent recently challenged a door theory in the 84-year-old's kidnapping.

During a March 30 interview with NewsNation's Elizabeth Vargas, retired FBI special agent Raymond Carr weighed in on the entrance and exit routes Nancy's abductors took

🎬 SIGN UP for Parade’s Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬

Because the back doors of Nancy's Catalina Foothills residence were left propped open, many have thought that was how the suspects took Savannah's mother out of her home. However, Carr refuted that idea.

"How do you think they took Nancy out?" Vargas asked. "It looks like going out the back, you'd go into that rough terrain. There's no way you could carry an elderly woman through that."

That's when Carr pointed out, “I don’t think that the back door was an exit, I think it was an entry. I think that’s how additional individuals may have been let into the home. But the one individual went in through the front."

Related: Nancy Guthrie Update: How Savannah’s Interview & ‘Today’ Return Could Impact Investigation, Says Retired FBI Agent

Additionally, Carr said that he agreed with Bob Krygier, a former Pima County SWAT commander, during NewsNation's Brian Entin's recent interview with him.

"They had to leave from the front of the home because of the blood that was found on the steps and on the porch,” he shared. "There’s no doubt in my mind that she left from the front. But there were entries that people were going in from different parts of the home."

Carr also nodded and said, "absolutely"when Vargas said it would be "too much for one person to break into the home and carry" Nancy out.

During an interview with Hoda Kotb that aired on Today on March 26, Savannah revealed new details about what her family and investigators found at Nancy's home shortly after her disappearance.

“We thought that we must have had, like, some kind of medical episode in the night. And somehow, the paramedics had come because the back doors were propped open, you know?” she recounted, of what she and her siblings, Annie Guthrie and Camron Guthrie, initially thought had happened. “We thought maybe they came, and there was a stretcher, and they took her out the back. But her phone was there, and her purse was there, and all her things. And it just didn’t make any sense.”

Savannah said they also quickly ruled out the possibility of their mother wandering off due to her physical condition.

“My mom, she was in tremendous pain. Her back was very bad, you know?” she told Kotb. “On a good day, she could walk down to the mailbox and get the mail. But most days, not. So there was no wander off. And the doors were propped open, and there was blood on the front doorstep, and the Ring camera had been yanked off.”

Nancy was last seen at her Tucson home on the evening of Jan. 31. As of writing, no suspect has been named.

Best-Selling Author's Novel Ranked Among 'Best Books of the Decade' on Goodreads

Tue, 03/31/2026 - 8:56pm

Bonnie Garmus's Lessons in Chemistry has become one of the most beloved novels of recent years and is earning well-deserved recognition, ranking among the "Best Books of the Decade" on Goodreads.

First published in 2022, the novel quickly gained attention through reader recommendations, rising to the top of bestseller lists and building a highly respected reputation. Its vivid storytelling and authentic message helped it stand out, despite it being Garmus's official debut.

At the center of the story is Elizabeth Zott, a brilliant chemist navigating a male-dominated field in the 1960s. The novel blends humor, emotion and social commentary, following her unexpected path from scientist to television cooking show host. That unique premise became a key part of its appeal, offering entertainment alongside deep reflection.

Garmus speaks on the central idea of Lessons in Chemistry in an interview with The Guardian, explaining, "They call chemistry the central science because it touches every other science and every aspect of our lives every single day, ... So that became this unifying theory in the book."

The release's success extended far beyond its initial sales. It was translated into dozens of languages and maintained a consistent presence on reading lists and in book clubs. Its lasting recognition from readers highlights an impact that few debut novels achieve.

The story also reached new audiences through its Apple TV screen adaptation, further cementing its place in current pop culture. While new titles continue to emerge, Lessons in Chemistry remains firmly established as an unforgettable piece of literature.

Recognition from Goodreads reflects what readers have already made clear. Years after its release, the novel's strong message and skilled writing continue to resonate, standing as a highlight of literature throughout the 2020s.

2003 Joke Called ‘Greatest Prank Ever’ Resurfaces 23 Years Later

Tue, 03/31/2026 - 8:40pm

On March 17, 2003, Justin Timberlake got Punk’d. And the antics that literally brought the pop star to tears still deliver the laughs today, 23 years later.

Featured on the debut episode of MTV's hidden-camera series hosted by That '70s Show's Ashton Kutcher, Timberlake shows up at his home in the Hollywood Hills to would-be IRS agents seizing his personal belongings -- everything from his fancy vehicles and water toys, to his dogs and guitar have been boxed, boarded, and billed.

View this post on Instagram

Dax Shepard, whose acting career was apparently minimal enough at the time that the big names and celebrities being duped didn’t recognize him, plays the IRS man informing Timberlake he owes six figures in back taxes.

“Are you Mr. Timberlake?” Shepard asks as the "Cry Me a River" singer walks toward him in a gray Nike T-shirt and baggy pants. He then proceeds to tell Timberlake that he owes $904,000 in back taxes and that there is now a lien on his property.

“Can we step inside, please, for a minute?” Timberlake asks.

“The house itself has been seized," Shepard says. "It’s now property of the government. We can’t go inside.”

As the NSYNC alum begins to understand the weight of the situation, he gets on his 2000s-era flip phone to call his mom, and eventually has a seat on his front porch, dropping his head into his hands.

As Shepard gets further instruction from Kutcher, who’s watching the hilarity unfold from a secret bunker, the prank takes a turn for the even more absurd. Shepard begins telling a tearful Timberlake that he'll be OK and that he’s young enough and handsome enough to no problem making the money back.

“I really feel like you’re chastising me right now," Timberlake says.

As the mood turns hostile following the fake agents breaking a guitar Timberlake believes is his, Kutcher -- sporting the signature uniform of skater aughts culture: ringer tee, trucker hat, baggy jeans -- walks out and the whole nightmare is revealed to be a gag.

“You’re an a–hole,” Timberlake yells, before breaking a smile

Punk’d ran from 2003 to 2015, spanning 10 seasons and 148 episodes. And even though it ended, the pranking continues.

Hit shows like Jury Duty on Prime Video and Impractical Jokers are still going strong. Not to mention the NBA’s Anthony Davis has Foul Play With Anthony Davis debuting April 6 on TBS, TNT, and truTV during which the biggest star athletes are all fair game.

Watch your back out there.

Best-Selling Author’s Novel Ranked No. 1 ‘Best Historical Fiction’ on Goodreads

Tue, 03/31/2026 - 8:34pm

More than two decades after its debut, Memoirs of a Geisha is still leaving a lasting impression on readers.

The bestselling novel by Arthur Golden has been ranked the No. 1 "best historical fiction" book on Goodreads, based on user votes. The ranking reflects reader enthusiasm, with users selecting and ranking their favorite titles in the genre.

Originally published in 1997, Memoirs of a Geisha quickly became a global phenomenon, praised for its immersive storytelling and richly detailed portrayal of Japanese culture. The novel follows Sayuri, a young girl sold into a geisha house in Kyoto, as she navigates a complex world of tradition, artistry and survival.

Told through Sayuri's perspective, the story traces her journey from childhood to becoming one of the most sought-after geisha in Japan. Along the way, the novel explores themes of identity, resilience and the pursuit of independence within a highly structured society.

"In establishing Sayuri's voice in the novel, I considered it essential to find some quality of cleverness that would help her rise out of the mire in which most geisha have no choice but to spend their lives," Golden said in an interview.

Golden's meticulous attention to detail and vivid descriptions helped bring the setting to life, drawing readers into a world that felt both intimate and expansive. The book's emotional core, centered on Sayuri's personal struggles and relationships, has been a key reason for its enduring popularity.

"When I was living in Japan, I met a fellow whose mother was a geisha, and I thought that was kind of fascinating and ended up reading about the subject just about the same time I was getting interested in writing fiction," Golden told CNN. "And that led me to write a novel about a geisha."

The novel's success also led to a major film adaptation in 2005, further expanding its reach and introducing the story to a wider audience.

With its latest recognition on Goodreads, Memoirs of a Geisha continues to stand as one of the most beloved works of historical fiction — proving that its story still resonates with readers around the world.

Notable Red-Haired Actress Boldly Debuts New Short Blonde Hair

Tue, 03/31/2026 - 8:27pm

Whether you know Mireille Enos, 50, from her powerhouse role as Detective Sarah Linden on the AMC/Netflix series The Killing (2011-2014), as Karin Lane in World War Z (2013), or as the high-haired twin sisters on HBO's Big Love (2007), you've probably always known the actress as a redhead. Now Enos appears to be dawning an adorable blonde, asymmetrical bixie cut. Did Enos really just cut off all her hair?

Enos dropped the recent photo of her adorable new 'do on Instagram—a chic, side-parted blonde bixie with longer bangs—and likely made all her fans do a complete double take.

But the truth lies deeper in the comments, folks. A shocked hairstylist commented on the photo and asked Enos if she really lopped her hair short.

"WIG!!!" Enos answered, letting us in on Hollywood's favorite beauty trick.

OK. Wow. Fell for it. Really thought that was a brand new hairstyle.

If you've already tuned in for Season 5 of Apple TV+'s For All Mankind, in which Enos is playing Celia Boyd, then you already know her character doesn't have Enos's iconic long, strawberry-blonde locks. It does seem logistically easier to go with a shorter cut when you're a member of the Peacekeeper Security Force on Mars, right?

Anyway, the gorgeous fresh new look works great on the actress. It highlights her pretty blue eyes and soft, freckled skin tone. And fans are blowing up her comments with compliments:

  • "Love this hair!!!!!"
  • "THE HAIR!!! LOVE!!!"
  • "You look amazing ❤️"
  • "You look 12 years old 😍"

While showing off her new hair, Enos also plugged the new show in her caption: "Celia is wondering if you’ve visited Mars yet? 😁🚀❤️" and adds "#shorthairisfun"

Think Enos might really go short and blonde after all this? Well, we've already gotten a sneak peek if she does.

Catch Mireille Enos on For All Mankind on Apple TV+. Fans of The Killing are so excited for her reunion on Mankind with former Killing partner, actor Joel Kinnaman.

10 Things From the 1960s That Kids Today Will Never Understand

Tue, 03/31/2026 - 8:21pm

Whenever innovation and creativity combine forces, brilliant inventions tend to follow suit. Each decade has its own set of unique technological advances that were known for either making life easier or more entertaining, and the 1960s were no different. But what was considered to be new and exciting at the time may make some folks scratch their heads in confusion now, especially since technology has evolved so much since then. As part of our ongoing series, Parade Rewind, we asked the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) to break down some of the best inventions from the 1960s that kids today will never understand.

Last month, we explored some of the most influential inventions from the 1950s, ranging from the integrated circuit and pocket radio to barcodes and the implantable cardiac pacemaker. This month, the USPTO is helping us take a walk down memory lane and dive into some of the 1960s inventions that may seem a little bit strange to kids (and maybe even young adults) today, especially since they're used to far more advanced technology.

Similar to all tech developments, each of the inventions below impacted society and the future of innovation in its own unique way. Have another invention to add to the list? Leave us a comment below!

What Kind of Inventions or Technology Were Invented in the 1960s?

Per the USPTO, Americans were "benefitting from a post-World War II economic boom" in the 1960s and a workforce that "grew by around 33% throughout the decade."

"The space race dominated technological development, culminating with the first moon landing in 1969. Patented technologies, including space suits and missile launch release systems, supported this effort," the USPTO tells Parade.

The organization highlights LED lights and wrinkle-free cotton as two "major technological advancements" of the decade, along with toys such as Etch A Sketch and Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots.

"Although many of the technologies patented in the 1960s are still familiar today, some
might confuse children in the 21st century," the USPTO shares.

10 Important Discoveries or Inventions From the 1960s1. Facsimile apparatus (Fax machine)

Xerox/PhotoQuest/Getty Images

Before the age of emails, fax machines were the preferred method of sending instant communications. As the devices began to be used more widely in the 1960s, the Xerox Magnafax Telecopier hit the scene.

While you may still find a fax machine at your local library, they're pretty rare these days.

"Sending documents by fax machine has largely been made obsolete by the internet," the USPTO says.

2. Tape recorder apparatus

Keystone/Hulton Archive/Getty Images

From phones to laptops, we now have plenty of ways to record conversations that don't involve an actual recording device. But in the 1960s, a tape recorder apparatus was the go-to method of recording.

"Children may be confused by both needing a designated device solely for audio recording
and by using physical tapes," the USPTO says.

3. Telephone answering machine

Fondazione Fiera Milano/Mondadori Portfolio via Getty Images

Per the National Museum of American History, telephone answering machines were around in the early 20th century, but "commercial units did not begin to enter the U.S. market until the 1960s."

"Having a separate device for callers to leave messages, rather than our current ability to
leave a voicemail, may be confusing to children who have never seen an answering machine before," the USPTO shares.

4. Infant car seat

Bert Hardy Advertising Archive/Getty Images

Car seats are a safety must-have for anyone with a young child, but the designs that we're used to today look a lot different—and a lot more secure—than those from the 1960s.

For instance, the USPTO references a 1966 patent application for an infant car seat that looks significantly different from what you'd find in stores now.

"The appearance of this car seat is much simpler than modern versions, looking more like a
21st-century high chair than a car seat," the USPTO says.

5. Scale calculating devices

Heritage Art/Heritage Images via Getty Images

Today, kids can easily make calculations on their phones, laptops or tablets. They're also used to digital calculators. But in the 1960s, several other calculating methods were more popular, including slide rules.

Per the National Museum of American History, slide rules are "analog computing devices marked with linear or logarithmic scales, some on a moving slide and some stationary on the base of the instrument, so that two numbers may be added or multiplied by aligning the slide."

The USPTO says these mechanical scale calculating devices "would be confusing for children who have digital calculators readily available."

6. Combination airplane and automobile

Museum of Flight/CORBIS/Corbis via Getty Images

"Flying cars have been seen as the 'technology of the future' for more than sixty years," the USPTO shares.

The organization points to a 1960 patent application from Warder H. Skaggs for a "combination automobile and airplane." The design resembles the Aerocar, which, The Museum of Flight reported, had the "ability to transform from automobile to aircraft" in less than 15 minutes.

7. Slide projectors

Henri Leduc/Getty Images

Slide projectors were around for quite some time before the 1960s, but they evolved during the decade. Per the New York Times, Kodak revolutionized the industry when the company released the Kodak Carousel in the 1960s.

Like other slide projectors, the Carousel enlarged images. But, as the New York Times reported, the new model was "more convenient than its predecessors and was designed in a snazzier style that hinted at technological wizardry."

8. Film cameras

jfmdesign/Getty Images

No, cameras weren't first invented in the 1960s. But several camera models did come about during the decade. For instance, Kodak debuted its Instamatic film camera in 1963.

Per the USPTO, the "retro" appearance of many cameras from the decade "would confuse children who are likely used to having their photo taken by digital cameras or cell phones."

9. Telephone handsets

H. Armstrong Roberts/Getty Images

Having a landline phone at home is quite rare these days, but in the 1960s, they were pretty popular. They didn't make their grand debut in the 1960s, but the decade saw several developments in different types of telephone handsets.

Since kids today are so used to smartphones, the USPTO says they may be "unfamiliar with the shape of the telephone" in some cases.

10. Combined television set and telephone

Today's kids are used to watching TV on their parents' phones, but a device that actually includes a separate telephone and television set in one might seem perplexing to them.

A patent from 1964 details the design of such a device—a combined television receiver and telephone—and names its developer as the International Telephone and Telegraph Corporation.

"Children would be surprised by the shape of the cabinet, the built-in style and the size of
the telephone in comparison to the television," the USPTO says.

A 1965 article from the New York Times archives details the debut of a Videx Videx television transmitter, which "sends still pictures over an ordinary telephone line."

"An operator puts a photograph, drawing or small object on the copy table of the transmitter, talks by telephone with a person at the receiver, hangs up and presses a 'send' button. The machine scans slowly, from top to bottom, at about a thousandth of the speed of a conventional television camera, and sends a picture in from 10 to 30 seconds," the article reads. The purpose was for "checking bank signatures and credit records, relaying radar weather maps and reporting the maintenance status of commercial aircraft."

Despite being one of the most popular content creators during the 2010s, Koshy stopped posting videos regularly to prioritize her mental health, escape burnout and stop forcing herself into a "mold" or persona she had outgrown. In a video she shared on her second YouTube channel, Liza Koshy Too, she explained in a January 2019 video that she was under immense pressure to maintain a high-volume, high-performance schedule, losing her passion for creating content that felt authentic to her personal growth.

"I wanna make happy videos. I don't care about the quantity of videos I post; I cared about the quality, and that's why I stopped making them, because I wanted to ensure good content," Koshy explained. "I lost myself and didn't want to document the process. I wanted to learn and live it."

1977 Soft Rock Springtime Classic Is Having a Major Moment Nearly 50 Years Later

Tue, 03/31/2026 - 7:51pm

While the late Dennis Wilson will probably always be remembered first as a founding member of the Beach Boys, the multi-talented musician and singer was also the first person from the iconic band to release a solo album, Pacific Ocean Blue, in 1977.

Now, nearly 50 years later, one of the tracks on that album is finally getting the attention is always deserved.

As Rolling Stone reported, the song "Rainbows" (which was never released as a single) has been enjoying some renewed attention recently thanks to its inclusion in the mega-popular sci-fi movie Project Hail Mary, starring Ryan Reynolds, and the HBO black comedy/mystery series DTF St. Louis, starringJason Bateman, Linda Cardellini and David Harbour.

Considering how different in tone the movie and the show are, the fact that the song is appropriate for both is a testament to the relatability of the nature-themed lyrics:

"Rainbows shinin' on my shoulders / Ooh, sunshine warmin' up my day / Birds sing and in the air the sound of spring / And in the wind the flowers bring / Their presents to the day."

The recording of 'Pacific Ocean Blue' was a difficult process

As collaborating songwriter and friend Gregg Jakobson told Classic Rock years later, Dennis was struggling with substance use while recording Pacific Ocean Blue, which made the process difficult sometimes.

“But it was often a real pleasure too,” Jakobsen added. “During daylight hours he was more or less coherent and conscientious. He wasn’t big on writing words, so he needed collaborators, but his music was fantastic and he had plenty of lyrical ideas.”

“He always had a doomed surfer look, kinda glazed, wanting to be someplace else, even when he’s in paradise," Pacific Ocean Blue art director Dean O. Torrence recalled. "But he was also heaps of fun. We shared a Go-Karts business, Race ’Em, Break ’Em & Wreck ’Em. He liked living on the edge, or over the line was even better.”

Brian Wilson 'loved' his brother's solo music

When Dennis died in 1983 at the age of 39 (he drowned at Marina Del Rey in California), he was still working on his next solo album, Bambu. Years later, Brian Wilson opened up about his reaction to the music on Pacific Ocean Blue, the only solo album his brother ever released.

"After Dennis died, people used to ask me all the time what I thought about his solo record, Pacific Ocean Blue," Wilson wrote in his 2016 memoir, I Am Brian Wilson. "I have said that I never heard it, that I won't listen to it, that it's too many sad memories and too much for me. That's sort of true, but not really. I know the music on it. I was around for much of the time in the mid-'70s when Dennis was cutting the record. I loved what he was doing."

Iconic '70s Actor With Major Emmy Award Turns 99

Tue, 03/31/2026 - 7:50pm

Few actors can claim a career as wide-ranging and enduring as William Daniels, who turned 99 on Tuesday.

Born in Brooklyn in 1927, Daniels built a career that spans over seven decades. Daniels got his start in acting at a young age, performing on radio in New York before transitioning to the stage. He trained as a theater actor and became a regular presence on Broadway in the 1940s and 1950s, building a strong foundation in live performance. His early work in theater eventually opened the door to television and film roles, where his distinctive voice and authoritative presence quickly set him apart.

One of his most acclaimed performances came in the medical drama St. Elsewhere, where he portrayed Dr. Mark Craig. The role earned him two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, highlighting his ability to bring depth and intensity to complex characters.

Daniels also delivered a standout performance as John Adams in the musical 1776, a role he originated on Broadway before reprising it on screen. His portrayal of the Founding Father showcased both his commanding stage presence and sharp comedic timing, becoming one of his most iconic performances.

While his dramatic work earned critical recognition, Daniels also became a beloved figure for an entirely different generation of viewers through his role as Mr. Feeny in Boy Meets World. But at first, Daniels wasn't entirely sold on the role.

"I thought Mr. Feeny would be OK if they didn't write it as a foolish teacher," Daniels told Good Morning America. "I respect teaching, and they're underpaid, and I wanted to make sure -- the producer, Michael Jacobs, assured me -- that they wouldn't make fun of this character, that it was based on a teacher that he had in high school, that he respected a great deal. So I was reassured that way, and he kept his word."

As the wise and patient teacher, and later principal, Feeny became the moral center of the series, guiding his students with a mix of discipline, humor and heartfelt advice. Daniels reprised the role years later in Girl Meets World, introducing the character to yet another new audience while maintaining the same warmth that made him so memorable.

"When you do any kind of play or film or whatever, you never really know how it's going to turn out until you hear the audience reaction," Daniels told TODAY. "And so it's been a pleasant surprise for me, that the show has had such kind of repercussions with people — that they still talk about it."

Beyond these roles, Daniels has appeared in numerous projects over the years, including providing the voice of KITT in Knight Rider, further cementing his place in television history.

At 99, William Daniels' legacy reflects not just longevity, but impact, an actor whose performances have connected with audiences across generations, from prestige dramas to beloved coming-of-age stories.

What Surprised Melora Hardin About Filming ‘The Office’

Tue, 03/31/2026 - 7:43pm

Actress Melora Hardin, who played Jan Levinson in The Office, found one thing about the beloved NBCsitcom to be surprising.

During a March 2026 episode of Still Here Hollywood Podcast w/ Steve Kmetko, Hardin referenced that she joined the cast of The Office during its first season, which premiered in 2005. Hardin, who had worked on other television shows before The Office, said she "was really surprised" by how involved the show's writers were.

"The writers were right there in a green room, like, right there, you know, and they'd come in and they'd kind of talk through the scene, and 'This is working, that's not, what if we improvise a little,'" said Hardin, who appeared as Jan throughout the show's nine-season run, which ended in 2013.

She said she appreciated that the show's atmosphere was "very inclusive and very collaborative."

Hardin made similar comments about her time on The Office during a March 2025 interview on The Lightweights podcast. She said that she enjoyed how present the writers of The Office were during filming.

"That was a really new and fresh collaborative experience. And I'm a real collaborator, that's one of my greatest skill sets and one of my greatest joys in life, so I was really into that when the writers were showing up and they were changing lines and we were talking about things," said Hardin in the March 2025 interview.

She also said the show's creator, Greg Daniels, worked closely with the cast and crew to know "what was working and what wasn't working."

"That was really, really special for me," said Hardin.

She clarified that she didn't know The Office would end up being a massive success when she was first cast as Jan. She explained that she had already filmed about 13 pilots that hadn't been picked up, causing her to feel "wary." The actress also said she didn't accept the show was a "hit until [they] won that first SAG award" in 2007.

Lauren Conrad’s Comments About Parenting and Stepping Out of the Spotlight Are Dividing Fans

Tue, 03/31/2026 - 7:34pm

With the Laguna Beach reunion on the horizon, Lauren Conrad and the rest of the gang are back in the spotlight again. And if you were wondering what LC has been up to in the past few decades, the reality star/designer opened up to People, sharing her thoughts on stepping out of the spotlight, parenting, and more.

Okay, so LC didn’t exactly disappear from the public eye the way co-stars Jessica Smith (prior to the reunion, the mom was living her best life in Texas) and Dieter Schmitz (he traded reality TV for a career in hospitality and hotel management) did. Conrad famously transitioned from high school star to budding fashionista on MTV’s The Hills, launched her LC Lauren Conrad clothing line for Kohl’s, and now pretty much runs a mini lifestyle empire.

Eventually, Conrad traded late nights at Les Deux for late-night diaper changes. She married her husband, lawyer and former musician, William Tell, in 2014. The couple welcomed their first son, Liam, in 2017 and had another child, Charlie, two years later in 2019. According to LC’s latest interview, she left the spotlight and moved to her hometown four years ago, telling People, “Nobody cares who I am here.”

Of course, LC didn’t only share her decision to move out of the public eye in her new interview. The mom of two also opened up about parenting her boys, praising her husband’s skills. Conrad shared with People, “He’s so engaged with our kids…He’s the parent who does funny voices when her reads stories, he coaches every team they’re on. It’s been really fun to parent together.” The reality star also talked about how lucky she feels to raise her children, “in the same space I grew up. It’s a really special place.”

Conrad (and her interview) got plenty of praise online. Fans flocked to People’s Instagram page, writing comments like, “We miss you, LC,” “Exactly why I love you. You always stay true to yourself and your friends,” and, “One of the few that came out of reality television thriving and still being grounded and humble. Go LC!”

View this post on Instagram

Even though most of the comments were over-the-top raves in support of LC, some weren’t as positive. One commenter pointed out that she wasn’t the only Laguna Beach alum to leave the limelight, “I mean tbh the whole cast literally stepped away from fame. I think they’ve all had the privilege of raising their families away from fame and the spotlight. That’s what makes the reunion so much more meaningful and special for the fans.” Another commenter took things a step further and wrote, “People with a “normal” life don’t do magazine covers.”

Whether Laguna Beach fans think she left fame behind or not, it’s clear that everyone is more than ready for the April 10 reunion!
