Women’s Hockey USA Coach John Wroblewski Sobs as Team USA Wins Gold in Dramatic Overtime

Thu, 02/19/2026 - 3:39pm

Well, that’s a wrap.

The most-anticipated women’s hockey matchup -- Team USA v. Team Canada -- is in the books, with Team USA winning gold.

— NBC Olympics & Paralympics (@NBCOlympics) February 19, 2026

In dramatic form, team captain Hilary Knight scored for Team USA late in regulation, tying up the score and taking the game into overtime. That goal, per The Associated Press, was Knight's 15th goal at the Olympics, “the most in team history.”

After Megan Keller scored the game-winning goal for Team USA, Team USA's gloves and helmets flew into the air, and chants of "U-S-A" broke out. But there was another priceless reaction cameras caught: Coach John Wroblewski sobbing as his girls celebrated.

There may not be crying in baseball, but there is in hockey. Good on coach John Roblewski for letting the joy flow.

Congrats to the women of @usahockey and everyone who helped them get there!#OlympicGold pic.twitter.com/k1gR5TT6ET

Per the AP, since women’s hockey debuted at the 1998 Nagano Games, the U.S. and Canada have played each other in all but one Olympic final. They did not play each other in the 2006 Winter Games in Turin.

Following the win, Knight, 36, spoke with an NBC reporter who surprised Knight with the news that she is now the all-time American point- and goal-scoring leader.

“This feels amazing,” she said, about the moment of elation.

She added, “We definitely had to will something. In the second period, we started to pick up momentum. We had to find the back of the net against a great goaltender.”

Speaking about goaltender Aerin Frankel, she said, “That save she made – she is unbelievable. She’s an incredible talent. I’m so glad the world gets to see it.”

As for whether the 36-year-old captain will return to the Olympics in the future: “We’ll see,” she said as retirement speculation builds.

Knight is also celebrating another milestone. She and Team USA speed skater Brittany Bowe got engaged on Wednesday.

"Knight and Bowe have lived out an Olympic fairytale love story since 2018. In their final Games, they leave together engaged," the official Olympics website reported.

The latest win gives Team USA their third gold medal in women’s hockey history.

United Airlines Just Overhauled Its MileagePlus Frequent Flyer Program

Thu, 02/19/2026 - 3:35pm

United Airlines has announced a major overhaul of its MileagePlus loyalty program, marking one of the most significant changes to the carrier's frequent-flyer benefits in years. The redesign, which takes effect for tickets purchased on or after April 2, 2026, shifts the program's focus heavily toward rewarding customers who carry United's co-branded credit or debit cards—and scaling back earnings for those who don't.

At the heart of the changes is a revamped mileage-earning structure that dramatically favors cardholders. United's primary MileagePlus cardholders will now earn up to twice as many miles per dollar spent on United flights as members without a co-branded card. In addition, cardholders who also use their United card to purchase flights can earn even more miles, creating a clear incentive to both carry and actively use one of United's credit or debit products.

"The most rewarding way to fly United is as a MileagePlus member, and the best way to get the most value from the MileagePlus program is to have one of our credit or debit cards," Andrew Nocella, United's Chief Commercial Officer, stated in a press release. "MileagePlus is designed to reward loyalty to United, and our best customers deserve the best benefits in the industry. MileagePlus members can now earn more miles faster with a United card—and every one of those miles will go further with our always-on award ticket discounts and expanded access to Saver Award fares."

Related: United Is Resuming Its Summer Service to the World’s Northernmost Capital

On the redemption side, the overhaul also brings at least a 10 percent discount on award bookings for MileagePlus cardholders, with larger savings (at least 15 percent) for Premier elite members who hold a United card. Cardholders will also gain access to the inventory of United's lowest-priced award seats on flights to United's more than 380 destinations around the globe, including expanded options in premium cabins that were previously reserved for higher elite tiers.

Conversely, infrequent flyers or members without a United card will find it harder to accumulate miles and unlock traditional rewards, reshaping the value proposition of the program in a way that aligns loyalty benefits with spending behavior.

United says the overhaul is designed to more directly reward its most loyal and engaged customers, and to boost adoption of its co-branded credit and debit cards, which are a major driver of ancillary revenue in the airline industry.

Frequent-flyer programs have increasingly become profitable partnerships with banks, with airlines earning billions annually by selling miles tied to credit card spending.

MileagePlus is free to join. Other benefits include miles that never expire, no blackout dates, ticket purchasing with miles (or a combination of miles and cash), zero change fees on flight award tickets, miles pooling (to combine miles in a joint account), the ability to use miles through the Blue Sky loyalty collaboration, and more.

Hailey Bieber Reveals Son Jack's Favorite Justin Bieber Song

Thu, 02/19/2026 - 3:33pm

Hailey Bieber recently shared a list of milestones her son, Jack Blues Bieber, has hit, which included a reference to which of dad Justin Bieber'ssongs he loves.

While speaking on Jake Shane’s “Therapuss” podcast, Hailey Bieber explained, "[Jack] has been saying, ‘Baby, oh baby, oh baby oh,'" lyrics from Justin Bieber's hit song "Baby"—an appropriate choice for the 16-month-old son of Bieber.

Hailey Bieber shared many other updates on her son as well, including some of the words he knows and interests he currently has. Among the words he knows, and one he frequently says, according to Bieber, is "basketball."

"He talks a lot about basketball. He says ‘basketball’ all the time...I went to get him up from his nap today, and he was like, ‘Basketball.’ It’s insane. So funny," Hailey Bieber said.

The model and entrepreneur went on to share that her son recently started saying "please" as well—something he initially learned in sign language but has now begun verbalizing too.

According to Bieber, basketball isn't the only sport Jack has expressed an interest in; she shared, "He’s kicking a soccer ball. He’s throwing the soccer ball. He’s into all of it."

The couple has shared updates on and stories about their son at times, although they've been careful about protecting his privacy in many ways. Jack has made appearances on Hailey Bieber's social media accounts, including Instagram, but his face is hidden in such posts, either because a photo is taken from behind him or because of the camera angle.

In one post, Jack, wearing an outfit that is very reminiscent of Justin Bieber's earliest days of stardom, is shown from behind, with the caption "Happy Halloween from JBB 🎃🎃🎃💜" and Bieber's hit song "One Less Lonely Girl" playing in the background.

In another, Jack is once again shown from behind, this time donning a hoodie that depicts his dad's face from when he was younger.

Clearly, Jack is being raised with an understanding of and appreciation for his dad's musical legacy, although it seems that, for now, he's very focused on sports.

And right now, Costco shoppers are buzzing about a stoneware find that looks way more expensive than it actually is.

Costco is selling a set of stoneware berry bowls from Over and Back for just $15, and people are obsessed. You get a pack of three berry bowls—two medium and one large—and they come in either teal or white. Both colors are adorable, and lots of fans said they couldn't pick just one. So what even is a berry bowl? A berry bowl is a small stoneware bowl with lots of tiny holes in the sides. Think of it like a mini colander made of stoneware. The holes help water drain out and let air get in, so your berries stay fresh longer. You can rinse strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and more right in the berry bowl, store them in the fridge, and serve them at the table, too. That's way better than juggling separate bowls, colanders and plates.

Because these are stoneware, they feel sturdy and look a lot nicer than plain plastic. Stoneware berry bowls like these make the fruit look extra pretty, whether you're eating it yourself or serving guests. And if you're into decorating your kitchen, these are fun pieces to display. Some people even said they use their berry bowls as tiny planters for strawberries.

This Is a Great Deal at Costco

Another cool thing about this Costco find is the price. Similar berry bowls at Crate & Barrel cost about $13 each. But at Costco, you get three Over and Back stoneware berry bowls for $15 total. That means you essentially get three pretty, useful bowls for the price of one elsewhere. That's the kind of deal that makes people do a happy dance in the cereal aisle.

These berry bowls aren't just for fruit either. You can use them for rinsing veggies, serving snacks or even holding small items on your countertop. And because they're stoneware, most are microwave- and dishwasher-safe, making clean-up a breeze.

If you've been looking for something cute and useful to add to your kitchen, this stoneware berry bowl set from Costco might be it. With style that looks straight out of Crate & Barrel and a price tag that feels like a steal, it's easy to see why everyone's talking about them.

Your Favorite Candies Might Be Loaded With Arsenic, New Data Shows

Thu, 02/19/2026 - 3:25pm

A newly released set of food safety test results from the Florida Department of Health reveals that arsenic was detected in more than half of the candies tested in a recent analysis, raising questions about the potential for dangerous levels of heavy-metal exposure from common sweet treats.

As part of the state's Healthy Florida First initiative, health officials tested 46 candy products from 10 companies and detected arsenic in 28 of them. The findings were presented publicly in late January at a news briefing led by Florida's First Lady, Casey DeSantis, alongside state health officials.

In addition to publishing the data, Florida health officials issued consumption guidance based on their testing results. The report outlines estimated annual "safe consumption limits" for certain candies in order to stay below the state's benchmark exposure levels, particularly for children.

The candies with detectable arsenic span a wide range of familiar brands and styles, from fruity hard candies to chocolate bars and chewy taffy. According to the published testing results on ExposingFoodToxins.com, products with detectable arsenic included Black Forest Gummy Bears, Laffy Taffy Banana, multiple Nerds varieties, SweeTarts (Original and Rope), Trolli Sour Brite Crawlers, Hershey's Cookies 'N' Creme, Jolly Rancher hard candies (Sour Apple and Strawberry), Twizzlers (Strawberry, Cherry and Watermelon), Kit Kat, 3 Musketeers, Snickers, Original Skittles, Sour Patch Kids varieties, Swedish Fish, Dots, select Tootsie Roll products and certain SmartSweets items.

How It Got There

Arsenic is a naturally occurring element found in soil and water, and while trace amounts are common in many foods like rice and root vegetables, long-term or high exposures are linked by health agencies like the NIH to serious risks, including increased cancer risk and potential impacts to heart and nerve health. That said, experts also stress that context matters: the test did not distinguish between different chemical forms of arsenic, some of which are considered less toxic than others, and there are currently no federal regulations specifying safe arsenic levels in candy itself.

Officials from the Florida Department of Health say the goal of publishing the data is to increase transparency and give families more information about what is in products marketed to children. The department did not announce recalls, and detection does not necessarily indicate that products exceed federal safety thresholds.

What It All Means View this post on Instagram

The National Confectioners Association (NCA), representing candy manufacturers, has urged consumers not to panic. The organization publicly criticized the testing and its methodology, arguing that it used benchmarks that don't align with federal safety standards or existing scientific evaluation frameworks. Additionally, popular social media health and wellness advisor, Dr. Dan Ginader, labeled the Florida Department of Health's findings as "clickbait" and stated, "there is no widely agreed upon safety standard on how much arsenic is safe to consume in limited amounts (like candy and treats) over the course of a year." He also suggested that, without consistent federal benchmarks specific to candy or foods eaten with only occasional frequency, defining "safe" yearly consumption limits is unsubstantiated.

At this stage, there are no recalls or enforcement actions tied to the findings. The FDA's Closer to Zero initiative was created to reduce exposure to environmental contamination in foods (including arsenic) and has not flagged the candies or their manufacturers for dangerous levels of arsenic. However, for families concerned about potential risks associated with long-term exposure—especially among children who eat sweets regularly—experts recommend moderation and staying up to date with guidance from reputable public health authorities.

The last episode of Season 23 of NCISaired on Tuesday, Dec. 16 before the CBS drama took a winter hiatus that will last until the series returns with new episodes on Tuesday, March 3. It was originally scheduled to return on Tuesday, Feb. 24. But as that is now the night of the State of the Union address, the series would have been preempted by the president, so it had to be moved.

The last episode of 2025 left us with a big cliffhanger: We saw Jessica Knight (Katrina Law) given her first NCIS: Elite mission and it looked as if it was to track down and eliminate Eleanor "Ellie" Bishop (Emily Wickersham). At the same time, we saw Ellie sitting in an automobile at the funeral of Alden Parker’s (Gary Cole) mother watching her former team but we had no clue why Ellie was in trouble. Daniel Radcliffe Reveals the Wild Remake He and His ‘Harry Potter’ Co-Stars Were Once Pitched

Thu, 02/19/2026 - 3:06pm

Daniel Radcliffe revealed that Harry Potterfans almost had the opportunity to see Harry, Ron, and Hermione following the Yellow Brick Road to Emerald City.

Entertainment Weekly reported that Radcliffe, who famously played the titular character in the Harry Potter film franchise, shared he was approached with the idea of a strange The Wizard of Oz remake during a February 2026 interview on Hot Ones. According to Radcliffe, his Harry Potter castmates, Emma Watson, who played Hermione Granger, and Rupert Grint, who played Ron Weasley, were also pitched roles for the Wizard of Oz remake.

"Somebody came to us and I think asked, like they wanted to cast all three of us, me, Emma and Rupert, as, in a remake of Wizard of Oz, where Emma was Dorothy, I can't remember what Rupert was, and I just remember that I was gonna be the lion but also he knew karate. I was like a karate-kicking Cowardly Lion," said Radcliffe in the Hot Ones interview.

Radcliffe noted that he was pitched to play the martial arts enthusiast version of the Cowardly Lion when he was a teenager, meaning he was in the middle of filming the Harry Pottermovies.

"I was like 14 or 15, and I was like, 'I don't know a lot about the world, but this is a bad idea and it should not be made,'" said Radcliffe in the interview.

Daniel Radcliffe Commented on the Upcoming 'Harry Potter' Series

As Harry Potter fans are aware, Radcliffe played The Boy Who Lived throughout eight movies, based onJ.K. Rowling's book series, spanning from 2001 to 2011. An upcoming HBO Harry Potter series is currently in the works, with Dominic McLaughlin playing Harry, Alastair Stout playing Ron, and Arabella Stanton playing Hermione.

Varietyreported that Radcliffe issued a warning to Harry Potter fans about the treatment of McLaughlin, Stout, and Stanton in a February 2026 interview with Screenrant.

“When these kids got cast, there is a whole thing around the internet being like, ‘We have to look after these kids!' If you really mean that, then one of the things you can do is don’t ask about us – me, Emma [Watson] and Rupert [Grint] – all the time," said Radcliffe in the interview. "I would like not to be weird spectral phantoms in these children’s lives. Just let them get on [with it], it’s going to be a new, different thing. I’m sure Dominic is going to be better than me.”

Radcliffe made similar comments about the new stars of the Harry Potter series in a November 2025 interview with Good Morning America. He suggested he was giving the cast some space as he didn't "want to be like a spectre in the lives of these children at all."

In addition, he said that he hopes the child actors have "a great time" filming the upcoming series.

James Van Der Beek Fans Claim His Merch Store Won’t Offer Refunds for Signed Items

Thu, 02/19/2026 - 3:06pm

James Van Der Beek's merch store is reportedly refusing to offer full refunds to fans who purchased jerseys signed by the late actor, according to an alleged email sent by the store to its customers.

In November 2025, Van Der Beek announced he was selling both signed and unsigned football jerseys inspired by his Varsity Blues character, Jonathan “Mox” Moxon. The proceeds raised money to fund his treatment for stage 3 colorectal cancer, which he was diagnosed with in August 2023.

Those who opted for the signed option were told it would take 10 to 12 weeks to receive their orders. However, some customers are reporting they still haven't received their package, and the unsigned jerseys are currently being sold for $115.

In the alleged email posted to social media on Wednesday, Feb. 18, customers were notified that their orders for the signed jerseys could no longer be fulfilled. The message seemingly offered two options — neither of which is a full refund.

“You now have two options regarding your autographed order,” the email read.

The first option offered was to “receive the unsigned jersey with a partial refund,” and the second was to “receive the unsigned jersey with no refund” with 100 percent of the proceeds going to Van Der Beek’s wife, Kimberly, and their six children: Olivia, 15; Joshua, 13; Annabel, 12; Emilia, 9; Gwendolyn, 6; and Jeremiah, 4.

“We want to be fully transparent that any refunds will be deducted from the proceeds being sent directly to James’s family, which will reduce the overall support they receive,” the email continued. “We deeply appreciate your understanding and generosity during this incredibly difficult time.”

RELATED: James Van Der Beek’s Friend Defends $2.6M GoFundMe With Blunt Message to Critics

After screenshots of the email were posted to Reddit, fans called out the store for "guilting" customers into not requesting a refund for their purchase. Users also pointed out that the Van Der Beeks have already raised 2.7 million dollars on GoFundMe after the family said the actor's cancer treatment left them "depleted" of funds.

"If I got this email, I’d probably just do a charge back on my credit card," one comment read. "Neither of these options [are] a full refund and the guilt tripping post 2.8 million dollar GoFundMe is egregious."

"Instead of [guilting] people, why is the company not stepping up to say they will still donate the same amount to the family," read another. "Why is it up to the fans to provide the funds?"

"Don't they have a ton of other celebrities rallying around them? Can their marketing person not arrange to have these jerseys signed by some of his celeb friends instead as a concession?" added a third. "I'm sure whoever bought these would happily take a jersey signed by a few other Dawson's Creek cast members so everyone wins without a guilt trip."

On Wednesday, Feb. 11, Van Der Beek's family confirmed he died earlier that morning at the age of 48.

“Our beloved James David Van Der Beek passed peacefully this morning,” the family's Instagram post read. “He met his final days with courage, faith, and grace. There is much to share regarding his wishes, love for humanity and the sacredness of time. Those days will come. For now we ask for peaceful privacy as we grieve our loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend.”

Presley notably had a red cape to go with the look, which Seymour seemed to reference by adding a red fur coat as part of her fashionable ensemble. She also added a pair of open-toed heels that peeked out from under the bell bottom-style pants.

The day after the event, Seymour shared a recap of the evening on Instagram, sharing a photo alongside Mike Stoller, one of the famous songwriters behind many of Presley's hits.

"What an extraordinary evening! Here we are with the legendary Mike Stoller," Seymour captioned her post on Thursday, which showed her and her boyfriendJohn Zambetti sitting next to Stoller. "His partnership with Jerry Leiber helped define rock ‘n’ roll and gave the world classics like 'Hound Dog,' 'Jailhouse Rock,' and 'Stand By Me.'"

"These songs didn’t just top charts, they shaped culture," Seymour continued. "Without Mike Stoller, there would be no Elvis Presley as we know him. Seeing Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis brought that era roaring back to life in such a bold and brilliant way. An epic night honoring an epic legacy. 🎸"

Presley's ex-girlfriend Linda Thompson—who was also in attendance for Wednesday night's premiere—took to the comments on Seymour's post to express her regret that the two weren't able to catch up during the event.

"I didn’t get to visit with you last night… It was packed!" Thompson, 75, wrote in Seymour's Instagram comments. "I'm glad you enjoyed Epic! Brought back so many visceral memories for me! Can you imagine that I was with him for hundreds of those concerts? I feel very fortunate to have been there..."

EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert officially releases in theaters for an exclusive 1-week IMAX engagement beginning Friday, Feb. 20, followed by a nationwide release on Friday, Feb. 27.

With spring right around the corner, now’s the perfect time to invest in pieces that can handle transitional weather. The best in-between staples are easy to layer, warm but not stuffy, and versatile enough to pair with everything from a mini skirt to tailored wool trousers. A good knit vest fits that description perfectly, giving you coverage without the bulk of a full sweater.

One option that checks every box is the Prettygarden Flower Knit Sweater Vest. Right now, it’s on sale for 54% off at Amazon, bringing the price from $35 down to as low as $16 for select styles. For a piece that feels trend-forward yet wearable, that price makes it even more appealing.

The vest is made from a soft, stretchy knit blend of 70% polyester and 30% acrylic. It has a comfortable feel against the skin and offers easy movement throughout the day. Available in sizes small through XXL, it’s designed to flatter a range of body types. Just keep in mind that it’s hand wash only to help maintain its shape and texture.

It comes in 20 colors, from neutrals like gray, beige, black, and burgundy to brighter spring-ready hues like light blue, pink, and green. The silhouette features a high-crew neckline with ribbed trim at the collar, cuffs, and hem. The standout detail is the tonal 3D floral appliqué on the front, which adds dimension without disrupting the monochromatic palette. The slightly boxy fit and short cap-sleeves create an effortlessly chic shape that’s ideal for layering.

Its elevated-casual vibe makes it incredibly versatile. You can wear it to the office with tailored separates, to weekend brunch with denim, or to family gatherings when you want to look polished but relaxed. It leans into cozy-chic daywear while still feeling modern.

Swap boots for loafers or a pointed-toe kitten heel for a lighter feel.

The sweater vest has a 4.6-star rating from over 100 reviews. Gymboree Is Teaming Up With a Luxury Brand—and Parents Are Surprised

Thu, 02/19/2026 - 2:46pm

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

I’m pretty sure my daughter has a super power where she can find the most poofiest, refined, princess dress in any store. This is followed by, “MOMMY, PLEASE CAN WE GET IT?!” It’s always tempting to let my inner child say yes, but I would be broke and my house would be filled with overpriced flimsy dresses that look nice but weren’t made well (or with kids in mind). That’s why I love a collaboration with two brands I trust.

When I saw that Gymboree and the red carpet favorite Marchesa were teaming up for a collection, I was so excited. Then, I saw the dresses and now I’m upset, because how dare there not be a "Mommy and Me" collection?! The whimsy of Gymboree pairs so well with the feminine designs Marchesa is praised for. Your kids, grandkids, nieces or any dress-wearing child you know can now wear the same luxury brand as Scarlett Johansson, Viola Davis, Penélope Cruz, Jennifer Lopez and Zendaya. Yet, this collection isn’t going to cost you the same amount as getting a dress right from the popular designer—they are still affordable and priced similarly to other quality dresses Gymboree offers.

Below are some of my favorites from the collection. They will be available online and in-store, but be quick with your shopping, as I see this collection moving fast—especially for those of us who are looking for affordable and quality dress for upcoming events like weddings, Easter, family photos and birthdays (though what’s another gown to frolic around the house in, too?).

Gymboree x Marchesa Collaboration

Before the official launch (February 19), I was able to attend an event with the two brands and hear a little more about how thoughtful the collaboration was.

Stephanie Thornton, Design Director at Gymboree mentioned they did a lot of trial and error to make sure the dresses were not just red carpet ready, but also able to move with the independent girls who wear them. Smeeta Khetarpaul, SVP and Head of Marketing was excited to pair their already heritage brand with an iconic star-worthy designer. She shared that she could see these dresses getting passed down for generations.

One woman at the event even got emotional looking at the dresses as her wedding dress was a Marchesa gown, and now she’s able to get one for her daughter (a perfect example of why collections like these are so sought after!).

Is Eric Leaving ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’?

Thu, 02/19/2026 - 2:26pm

The Bold and the Beautiful’s Eric (John McCook) has suffered another medical setback, raising the question of whether the character and beloved actor are leaving the show.

In the middle of a tense conversation with Ridge (Thorsten Kaye), Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang), Katie (Heather Tom), Bill (Don Diamont), and Donna (Jennifer Gareis), Eric had a health crisis.

🎬SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox🎬

It came amid the reveal that Eric is the lead designer for Katie’s new fashion house, Logan. Eric made the choice to help Katie launch her company after Ridge ousted him from Forrester Creations with a surprise retirement party.

Neither the retirement nor the retirement party was something Eric was on board with at all, which was why he opted to work with Katie and Bill. However, none of that will matter if Eric is leaving the hit CBS soap.

The good news is that Eric isn’t going anywhere, nor is McCook, who has been part of The Bold and the Beautiful since day one. McCook has revealed more than once that he has plans to be “dragged out of the show” and that he intends to work until that happens.

Eric’s latest medical crisis comes two years after the character had a terminal mystery illness. In true soap fashion, Eric was given a Christmas miracle thanks to Finn (Tanner Novlan). The doctor learned of an experimental procedure that he performed, and Eric’s life was saved.

McCook has revealed that what is happening with Eric now has nothing to do with the previous illness that left him at death’s door.

“They’re not reaching back into the illness he had a few years ago,” he told Soaps.com, speaking about The Bold and the Beautiful writers.

The actor didn’t give any specifics regarding his current storyline, but did admit that he’s enjoying his alter ego’s reaction to being forced to retire. Eric wasn’t ready, and now he’s taking back his dream even if it upsets his family.

The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS.

Eileen Gu's Viral Response to Reporter Asking if Her Silver Medals Are 'Losses' Has Everyone Talking

Thu, 02/19/2026 - 2:26pm

EileenGu is garnering the internet's attention for a few reasons.

Not only is she the most decorated female freestyle skier in Olympic history after taking home two silver medals at the 2026 Winter Olympics, but she's also going viral for her "amazing" response to a reporter.

During a press conference following her second-place finish in freeski slopestyle on Feb. 16, a male reporter asked her if she viewed her finishes as "two silvers gained or two golds lost."

It was a question that didn't sit well with many on the internet, though they championed and applauded her response.

The five-time Olympic medalist laughed off the question before confidently responding, "I’m the most decorated female freeskier in history, I think that’s an answer in and of itself."

The 22-year-old continued, "How do I say this? Winning a medal at the Olympics is a life-changing experience for every athlete. Doing it five times is exponentially harder.”

"The two medals lost situation, to be quite frank with you, I think is kind of a ridiculous perspective to take. I’m showcasing my best skiing,” she explained, adding, “I’m doing things that quite literally have never been done before and so I think that is more than good enough, but thank you.”

The praise was almost instant, as The Skimm, which provides a daily subscription-only newsletter, shared the moment, writing, "Normalize laughing in men’s faces when they ask ridiculous questions" and of Gu, "We are not worthy."

View this post on Instagram

"An amazing response with no filler words, full of confidence 🔥 ALL HAIL," one wrote, as another chimed in, "The laugh 🔥 just to enforce what a ridiculous question it was. Absolutely brilliant response by a fantastic athlete!"

"I want that laugh on repeat. 😂" another noted, with many more stating, "Omg channeling the energy of that laugh all week. Absolute queen" and "This was such an incredible response. LOVED IT."

"I’m not a man hater, but this well-articulated response and her calm delivery was absolute GOLD!!" one comment expressed.

A handful came to the reporter's defense, as one questioned, "I don’t get why is this question considered offensive by so many commenters? The guy is simply asking if her glass is half full or half empty. It’s amazing to hear that it’s half full, and actually not even half, but to the brim!"

Related: Why ’90s Music Is Seeing a Sudden Resurgence at the Winter Olympics

Another pointed out that the reporter was simply trying to ask about Gu's mindset following the finish, which "may be different for any athlete and they may have a different answer at each point in their life."

"Some athletes might look at not winning as a loss and other athletes might look at placing second or third as a win or even not getting on the podium but competing at the Olympics as a win," the comment noted.

Even the official Olympics Instagram account supported Gu, writing, "We couldn’t have said it better ourselves! ⛷️🤩"

View this post on Instagram

In addition to the two silver medals, Gu's career total stands at two golds in Beijining 2022 and three silvers, one from Beijing and two from Milano Cortina.

She's set to compete for her third medal at the Milano Cortina Games today, Thur, Feb. 19, in freeski halfpipe.

Gu recently made headlines after opting to compete for China instead of the U.S., a decision addressed by Vice President J.D. Vance.

"I certainly think that someone who grew up in the United States of America who benefited from our education system, from the freedoms and liberties that make this country a great place, I would hope they want to compete with the United States of America," he said, per Fox.

As the daughter of a first-generation Chinese immigrant in the U.S., Gu also represented China at the 2022 Beijing Winter Games.

Nancy Guthrie Investigation Sheriff Chris Nanos Breaks Silence On Ongoing Backlash

Thu, 02/19/2026 - 2:24pm

As scrutiny intensifies around the investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s mysterious disappearance, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos is pushing back on claims that his handling of the high-profile case has been driven by ego rather than urgency.

In a statement to Parade addressing recent criticism, Nanos said, “Right now, our focus is on this investigation and serving the victims and this community. Internal or political commentary distracts from this active investigation, and it is very unfortunate. My focus remains on justice and transparency."

The comments come after multiple law enforcement sources and critics publicly questioned his leadership. Sgt. Aaron Cross, president of the Pima County Deputies Organization, previously told The Post on Thursday, February 19, “It is a common belief in this agency that this case has become an ego case for Sheriff Nanos.”

Other sources described frustration over shifting communication strategies and a move away from general press briefings toward smaller, one-on-one interviews.

The tension has reportedly extended beyond local law enforcement. Federal sources have indicated that the FBI is “growing frustrated” nearly three weeks into the case, with one saying, “Over two whole weeks into this, the police have made no leads, no progress,” per The Post.

The public debate has unfolded as Guthrie, 84, remains missing from her Tucson home. On Monday, February 16, Nanos formally cleared Nancy’s children, Savannah Guthrie, her siblings Annie and Camron Guthrie, as well as their respective spouses from suspicion. “To be clear…the Guthrie family—to include all siblings and spouses—has been cleared as possible suspects in this case. The family has been nothing but cooperative and gracious and are victims in this case,” Nanos said, urging the media to avoid speculation. “To suggest otherwise is not only wrong, it is cruel.”

Nancy has been missing since February 1.

Vera Wang Rocks Red to Commemorate the Lunar New Year and Tease Her New Dinnerware

Thu, 02/19/2026 - 2:23pm

When legendary designer Vera Wang marked the Lunar New Year on her Instagram, it wasn't just another fire-horse post. It was a stylish celebration and a subtle hint at what's next from her ever-evolving brand.

In a series of images shared with followers, Wang embraced the year's most auspicious color, vibrant red, posing with confidence as she ushered in the Year of the Horse. Red, which symbolizes good fortune, prosperity, and happiness in Chinese culture, has become a central visual motif in Lunar New Year celebrations around the world. It appears in everything from traditional decorations to fashion and food presentations.

As someone whose influence extends well beyond gowns into lifestyle and home goods, Wang's festive red look served both as a nod to tradition and a visual cue for excitement. In the carousel of photos, the designer wore a red skirt and a matching headband, standing beside her dinner table decorated with red balloons. The red she chose resonated with the season's themes of renewal and luck, echoing centuries of Lunar New Year customs where bright colors ward off bad spirits and usher in blessings for the months ahead.

But her style choice wasn't the only message woven into her post. Alongside her celebratory poses were subtle glimpses of something new: an elegant new dinnerware collection tied to her home and lifestyle brand.

Wang captioned the carousel: "In celebration of CHINESE NEW YEAR 2026, the year of the FIRE HORSE !!🐎🐎🔥🔥🧧🧧🍽️ 🍽️🥢🥢🎈🎈❤️❤️ Dinnerware: Coming Soon…. GRAPHITE LUXE."

The sophisticated dinnerware line seems to capture both her signature aesthetic. And if this tease is any indication, the forthcoming line will likely blend timeless sophistication with modern sensibility. These gorgeous

The Lunar New Year is ultimately about thinking big, moving forward, taking decisive action, and embracing innovation. These themes align seamlessly with the debut of a new creative venture.

Wang's subtle introduction of her dinnerware line feels symbolic of that forward momentum.

Stephen Colbert Reacts to Viral Baby Monkey Punch — and Brings the Same Stuffed Toy

Thu, 02/19/2026 - 2:22pm

Late-night host Stephen Colbert turned a viral animal story into must-see TV, sharing the heartbreaking — and surprisingly sweet — tale of Punch, a baby monkey abandoned by his mother and comforted by an IKEA stuffed toy at a Japanese zoo. To prove the plush was as comforting as it seemed, Colbert even brought the same toy onstage, joking that it looks like “she’s regretting all of her life choices.”

During his Wednesday night monologue, Colbert reported that “the internet has become obsessed with a six-month-old macaque named Punch. After Punch was rejected by his mother after birth, he found solace in a stuffed toy.”

As producers ran a clip of Punch playing with the toy, Colbert melted, saying, “Oh my God, he’s so cute, he thinks that’s his mommy. After his mom abandoned him—she said she was going out for a pack of bananas...I’m sure she’ll be back—Punch struggled to make friends with other monkeys in the exhibit, which is why they gave him the stuffed orangutan. And now he takes it everywhere.”

But in another clip of Punch running from the same stuffed animal, Colbert joked, “What? He abandoned his stuffed mother. Well, I guess it’s true what they say, ‘Hurt monkeys, hurt monkeys.’”

The “abandoned” toy is becoming nearly as popular as Punch himself, with Colbert noting the IKEA plush is called DJUNGELSKOG and retails for $19.99. "And honestly, we could all use a little comfort right about now, so I bought one," Colbert said as he brought the plush onstage as the audience swooned. Colbert even revealed that the stuffed animal has her own mini stuffed animal too.

"I love you, I love you monkey mommy," Colbert said. "Clearly she regrets being part of this bit."

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert airs weeknights at 11:35 PM ET/10:35 PM CT. Only on CBS.
