When Will Season 2 of 'High Potential' Return? Here's Everything We Know

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 5:00pm

Unlike The Rookie and Will Trent, which were held for midseason premieres, High Potential launched its second season in September 2025, so it wasn’t a surprise that the top-rated ABC series, starring Kaitlin Olson as LAPD consultant Morgan Gillory, was due for a hiatus, which it took.

It is most likely that ABC picked this time period for the hiatus so that new episodes wouldn’t compete with the Winter Olympics, which are not on ABC, but do draw a huge audience to another network. It makes sense then that the network would want to hold new episodes of its cop dramedy so it wouldn’t have to compete with the sporting event.

But now fans are asking: When will High Potential return with new episodes, and here’s the answer to that question:

When Will High Potential Air New Episodes in 2026?

High Potential Season 2 is set to resume with new episodes on Tuesday, March 3.

While the final day of competition for the Olympics is February 22, High Potential couldn’t return on Tuesday, Feb. 24 because that is the night of the State of the Union address, so the series would have been preempted by the president. Hence, the March 3 return.

What can fans expect from High Potential when it returns?

The tune-in information for the episode hasn’t been released yet, but there is this trailer, which teases a fun episode coming our way.

Also, it looks as if there will be more romance with Karadec (Daniel Sunjata) and his former fiancée and current girlfriend, Lucia (Susan Kelechi Watson), plus an exploration into exactly why Nick Wagner (Steve Howey) wanted to become the captain of the Major Crimes unit, and more on Arthur's (Mekhi Phifer) connection to Morgan's ex Roman.

How many episodes of High Potential are there for Season 2?

Due to the popularity of the series and the availability of series star Kaitlin Olson, Season 2 of High Potential added an additional five episodes, taking the total to 18 episodes from Season 1’s 13.

Where can I watch High Potential during its hiatus?

Season 1 and Season 2 episodes are currently streaming on Hulu.

What was the last new episode of High Potential that aired?

On February 3, the “The Faust and the Furious” episode aired, in which Oz (Deniz Akdeniz) faced a deeply personal struggle when he discovered his late father’s headstone was never ordered. Elsewhere, the team investigated the murder of a tech founder obsessed with life extension.

Season 2 of High Potential returns Tuesday, March 3 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC. Streams next day on Hulu.

FBI to Use Genetic Genealogy on DNA Evidence in Nancy Guthrie Investigation

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 4:55pm

The FBI is planning on using genetic genealogy in the Nancy Guthrie investigation.

On Tuesday, Feb. 17, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that a glove found two miles from Nancy's Tucson home—which appeared to match the gloves seen in a doorbell camera video of a potential suspect—did not match any profiles in the CODIS system.

CODIS, or the Combined DNA Index System, is a computer software program that operates local, state, and national databases of DNA profiles from convicted offenders, unsolved crime scene evidence, and missing persons cases. To date, there are 27 million DNA profiles in the CODIS system.

“DNA evidence from gloves found approximately 2 miles from Nancy Guthrie’s residence was submitted to CODIS & produced no matches. There is additional DNA evidence that was found at the residence that is also being analyzed,” read a message posted on the Sheriff’s Department’s official X account.

RELATED: Key Evidence in Nancy Guthrie Case Being Sent Back to Arizona for More DNA Testing

However, the DNA evidence from the gloves may not be a dead end just yet. According to TMZ, the FBI is now using genetic genealogy to analyze the sample, hoping to identify a potential match through a relative of the suspect.

While 23andMe and Ancestry.com require a legally binding warrant, subpoena, or court order to release user DNA data to law enforcement, smaller DNA testing companies, like GEDMatch, have voluntarily released data in the past.

Genetic genealogy has become a powerful tool for solving crimes, most notably in the 2022 murders of four University of Idaho students. In that case, investigators analyzed DNA recovered from a knife sheath left at the scene and compared it to public genealogy databases, ultimately building a family tree that led them to Bryan Kohberger.

Stephen Colbert Directly Calls Out CBS On 'Late Show,' Names Guest The Network Barred

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 4:47pm

Host of The Late Show Stephen Colbertdidn't hold back during a recent segment on his talk show when he revealed that network lawyers had contacted him to inform him that his interview with Democratic Texas State Representative James Talarico wouldn't be aired due to concerns about the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

According to Colbert, "[Talarico] was supposed to be here, but we were told in no uncertain terms by our network's lawyers, who called us directly, that we could not have him on the broadcast. Then, I was told in some uncertain terms that not only could I not have him on, I could not mention me not having him on."

Colbert added, "And because my network clearly doesn't want us to talk about this, let's talk about this."

The talk show host went on to call out Donald Trump's administration in particular, saying, "Let's just call this what it is. Donald Trump's administration wants to silence anyone who says anything bad about Trump on TV," and stated that he and Jimmy Kimmelhave been specifically affected—the latter no doubt a reference at least in part to Disney's suspension of Kimmel's show in 2025.

However, Colbert's interview with Talarico still took place (but was not shown on The Late Show) and has since made the rounds online, including on the official YouTube and TikTok accounts of The Late Show.

In the interview, Colbert acknowledged that anyone viewing the video would be doing so online and referenced the FCC probe into The Viewfollowing Talarico's appearance on that show as well.

In Talarico's view, this stems from one place in particular. Speaking with Colbert, Talarico said, "I think that Donald Trump is worried that we're about to flip Texas," meaning Texas potentially voting primarily Democrat rather than Republican in upcoming elections.

This latest incident comes during Colbert's final year on The Late Show—something that had already drawn scrutiny and outrage, as many perceived it as targeted (although, as Colbert joked during his interview with Talarico, he's been told this decision was "purely financial" in nature).

Special guests Local H, Vandoliers and Sparta will be joining Toadies on different stops, while The Black Angels will only be performing with them on their Dallas stop on May 2.

In addition, the group announced that their new album, The Charmer, will be out on May 1 via Spaceflight Records. This is the Toadies' eighth studio album, and was recorded with Steve Albini at Electrical Audio studios in Chicago. This is their first LP since their 2017 project The Lower Side of Uptown.

The Toadies will also be going on a mini tour in April, performing at five different venues across Texas, Missouri and Louisiana before The Charmer is officially released.

Best known for their song "Possum Kingdom" from their debut album Rubberneck, the Toadies were formed in Fort Worth, Texas, by Vaden Todd Lewis, Lisa Umbarger, Charles Mooney III and Guy Vaughan in 1989. They released two studio albums — Rubberneck (1994) and Hell Below/Stars Above (2001) — before disbanding in 2001 after Umbarger left. Five years later, they reformed and released No Deliverance in 2008.

Rubberneck did not become a huge success until months later, when some of the songs were featured in many different media. One of the singles, "Backslider," is featured in the film Black Sheep, while "Possum Kingdom" became a playable track in the Xbox 360 version of Guitar Hero 2. Throughout the 1990s, the band toured extensively and opened for many rock bands such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, White Zombie and Bush, as well as headlined and co-headlined tours with Supersucks and The Reverend Horton Heat.

More recently, Toadies released their EP Damn You All to Hell on Sept. 13, 2022, and have been touring North America to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Rubberneck. Throughout 2023-2025, the rock group has been performing around the United States, headlining or opening for various bands. Now, its current members include Lewis, Mark Reznicek, Clark Vogeler and Doni Blair.

Vaden Todd Lewis (L) and Mark Reznicek of the Toadies perform in concert at Stubb's Bar-B-Q on November 10, 2017 in Austin, Texas.

Fans can purchase tickets for the Toadies' The Charmer Touron their official website. The Charmer will be out on all streaming platforms on May 1.

Usually priced at $79, it's now on sale at a generous 44% discount in white and pink. As versatile as it is chic, one shopper said, "It looks like it came from an expensive furniture store."

A storage ottoman is one of those smart buys that instantly declutters a space while doubling as extra seating or a footrest. The best ones look pretty enough to leave out in the open but feel sturdy enough to actually use every day, and this one truly delivers. The boucle fabric gives it that textured, high-end look that's also soft to the touch. It's perfect for using as extra storage and seating in bedrooms, living rooms, entryways, or even at the foot of your bed.

This storage bench measures 43 inches long, 15 inches high, and 15 inches deep. It features a medium-density fiberboard (MDF) wood frame with reinforced metal corners that provides excellent structural support, topped with high-density foam padding for a comfortable seat. Inside, you’ll get a spacious 35-gallon storage compartment with two removable dividers, lined with smooth fabric to protect whatever you're storing. The space-saving design folds totally flat so you could easily slide it under a bed or store it in the back of a closet when not in use.

Several reviewers noted that they use this bench to store their bed's throw pillows overnight or extra blankets and pillows for guests. Some shoppers also shared that it comes in handy as a way to help their pets climb up onto the bed. Others used it as a substitute for a coffee table, to store seasonal decor, and as shoe storage in entryways.

Having invested in a similar collapsible storage bench in the past, I can attest to how much durability matters with a purchase like this. Shoppers said this bench is "surprisingly sturdy," and one noted that it "will easily support a 200-pound person." Another said, "I can sit on it and have no concerns of it falling under me."

Steve Jobs' Daughter Has One Word for Eileen Gu Amid Winter Olympics

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 4:38pm

Eileen Gu drew reactions from fans and celebrities, including Eve Jobs, after adding another medal to her impressive collection during the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina.

After winning her second silver medal of the Games, Gu shared a carousel of photos on Instagram. One image showed her proudly holding her medal.

“Most Olympic medals in freeski history. Thank you Olympics 🤍,” she wrote in the caption.

Among the flood of reactions, one comment stood out. Eve Jobs, the youngest daughter of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, responded with a single word: “unbelievable!!!!!! 😍”

Eileen Gu’s Record-Breaking Winter Olympics Achievement

Gu entered the 2026 Milan-Cortina Games as one of the biggest stars in freestyle skiing. She was the defending gold medalist in big air after winning at the 2022 Beijing Olympics.

View this post on Instagram

In Milan, she first competed in slopestyle and earned silver, finishing just behind Switzerland’s Mathilde Gremaud. It marked her fourth Olympic medal overall.

Days later, Gu competed in the big air final. She scored 90.0 on her first run but made a costly mistake on her second attempt, earning a 61.25 after failing to grab her ski cleanly during landing. That error pushed her out of medal position heading into her final run.

Needing a near-perfect score, Gu delivered an 89.0 on her third run. Her total reached 179.00 points. It was impressive, but just short.

Canada’s Megan Oldham posted 180.75 to secure gold, finishing 1.75 points ahead of Gu. Oldham’s win marked Canada’s first Olympic gold in women’s freeski big air.

Gu settled for silver, her fifth Olympic medal overall. Despite missing gold, Gu made history. She now stands alone as the most decorated freestyle skier in Olympic history with five medals: two gold and three silver.

Even so, Gu’s performance remains remarkable. At just 22 years old, she has already built a resume many athletes spend a lifetime chasing.

She still has one more chance to add to her medal total. Gu will compete in the halfpipe, the event in which she won gold in during the 2022 Olympics. Qualification is set for Thursday, with the final scheduled for Saturday.

While Gu’s silver medal was headline-worthy on its own, Eve Jobs’ comment added an unexpected pop culture moment.

Eve, who has built a name for herself in fashion and equestrian sports, is no stranger to Olympic circles. She married British Olympian Harry Charles in 2025 and has frequently shown support for elite athletes on social media.

Gu’s medal haul continues to inspire supporters across sports, fashion, and entertainment. From fellow Olympians to public figures like Eve Jobs, admiration for the freestyle skiing star is spreading beyond the slopes.

Sweet Niblets! Miley’s 'Hannah Montana' Homecoming is Confirmed

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 4:31pm

Sweet niblets! After months of speculation, Disney officially announced that Miley Cyrus will officially return to celebrate for the 20th anniversary of Hannah Montana. Unlike a traditional reboot or revival, the Disney+ special is unscripted and will offer a deep-dive into the show that captured a generation.

"Hannah Montana will always be a part of who I am," says Cyrus. "This 'Hannahversary' is my way of celebrating and thanking the fans who’ve stood by me for 20 years. The fact that it still means so much to people all these years later is something I’m very proud of."

While reunion rumors have swirled for years—and even been teased by the cast in recent months—this marks Miley's first Hannah Montana homecoming since its 2011 finale. Read on for everything we know about the "Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special"—including how to watch, which cast members will return and more.

How Can I Watch the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special?

The "Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special" will be available to stream exclusively on Disney+ starting Tuesday, March 24, 2026. While Disney has not confirmed the specific release time, major original titles typically drop on the platform at 12:00 a.m. PT.

It's important to note that while the original Hannah Montana aired on Disney Channel, this will not be shown on cable television. You must have a subscription to Disney+ in order ot watch the special.

View this post on Instagram What will happen in the anniversary special?

The official press release says: "The special will be filmed in front of a live studio audience and will feature an exclusive, in-depth interview with Miley Cyrus, hosted by Alex Cooper. The conversation will offer an intimate look at the creation of one of pop culture’s most iconic characters and the lasting impact the show and character have had on fans around the world."

Will Billy Ray Cyrus be in the Hannah Montana Special?

As of right now, the returning cast members have not yet been announced. However, we did notice that the language in Disney's official press release describes it as an "intimate conversation" between Alex Cooper and Cyrus. Additionally, Miley and her mother, Tish Cyrus-Purcell are listed as Executive Producers alongside Cooper and Matt Kaplan, but Billy Ray Cyrus is not mentioned.

Over the years, there has been ongoing tension within the Cyrus family. In her 2023 "Used to Be Young" TikTok series, Miley opened up about how she and her dad have different reactions to fame. "My dad grew up the opposite of me, so I think that's where me and my dad's relationship to fame and success is wildly different," she said. "Him feeling loved by a big audience impacted him emotionally more than it ever could me. When he feels special or important it's like healing a childhood wound and I've always been made to feel like a star. It makes me emotional."

Will There Be a Hannah Montana Reboot in 2026?

Currently, there are no plans for a scripted Hannah Montana reboot or a "Season 5" revival.

The upcoming March 24 event is strictly an unscripted special designed to celebrate the show’s 20-year legacy. While it will recreate the show's iconic sets, these will serve as backdrops for Cyrus and Cooper to discuss the show's history, not film new episodes in character.

Ayo Davis, President of Disney Branded Television, described the project as a "love letter to the fans" rather than a relaunch. "Hannah Montana opened the door for so many fans to dream big, sing loud and embrace every side of themselves," he said. "Partnering with Miley on this special is a dream, and we want it to be a love letter to the fans, who remain as passionate today as they were when the series debuted."

Topo Chico Hard Unveils New Look, Stronger Recipe Ahead of National Margarita Day

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 4:26pm

Topo Chico is celebrating National Margarita Day (recognized on Sunday, Feb. 22) with hard and refreshing news.

The Coca-Cola brand of sparkling mineral water announced on Tuesday that it's renewing its exclusive licensing agreement with Molson Coors Beverage Company again this year, celebrating the first anniversary of its Topo Chico Hard Margarita and Margarita Max launch with twice the excitement and twice the number of new releases.

"Topo Chico Hard has always been about trusting your own taste and enjoying refreshment on your terms," Liz Cramton, senior director of marketing for flavor & RTDs at Molson Coors Beverage Company. "After a strong launch for our Topo Chico Hard Margarita FAB last year, we've earned the confidence to keep building our margarita-flavored lineup—bringing our point of view into the space while staying true to what makes Topo Chico Hard different, like our iconic glass bottle and flavor-forward innovation."

In other words, the flavored alcohol beverages will now look even more like the original that inspired them. Separately, its Strawberry Hibiscus flavor is also getting a spin-off: an even bolder, stronger, higher-alcohol variety.

Topo Chico Hard Debuts Glass Bottles and a New, Stronger Flavor

For the first time ever, per the Feb. 17 press release, Topo Chico Hard Margarita Flavored Alcohol Beverage (FAB) will be available in a six-pack of glass bottles. The official website for the brand suggests it's not just the original ready-to-drink margarita flavor that's launching in glass, but the entire line—including its Tropical Mango and Strawberry Guava flavors.

Related: Truly Makes ‘Dreams Come True’ With New Flavor Pack

The line is made with real lime juice, added minerals for a crisp finish and flavored alcohol (instead of distilled spirits), making it 6 percent alcohol by volume (ABV) for the "same perfectly balanced sweet-tart lime flavor fans love," just in a more premium, ready-to-enjoy experience. According to the official announcement, the new glass bottle is launching in response to the "growing demand" for premium, ready-to-enjoy options and celebrates "the details that matter."

Regarding that new, stronger Strawberry Hibiscus flavor, the MAX FAB will be available only in a 24-ounce can, alongside the original Margarita MAX. Both contain 8 percent ABV from flavored alcohol (not spirits).

Topo Chico Hard debuts its signature margarita in the iconic glass bottle alongside the new Margarita MAX FAB Strawberry Hibiscus.

Molson Coors Beverage Company

Although Molson Coors is known for brewing some of the best low-carb beers (including Coors Light, Miller Light, and Keystone Light) and the fan-favorite Belgian-style wheat ale, Blue Moon, the beverage giant is also appeasing other consumer trends with brands like Vizzy Hard Seltzer, Five Trail whiskey, ZOA Energy, and, of course, Topo Chico Hard.

The new glass bottles and revamped flavor are expected to be available at most retailers that already stock Topo Chico Hard beginning in the next few weeks, while the new Topo Chico Strawberry Hibiscus MAX FAB flavor is now available nationwide (prices may vary). To find either locally, refer to the official product locator.

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 4:21pm

An official cause of death has been released for Victoria Jones, the 34-year-old daughter of Academy Award-winning actor Tommy Lee Jones.

On Tuesday, Feb. 17, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in San Francisco, California announced that Victoria died due to "toxic effects of cocaine," and ruled the manner of her death as an "accident."

Victoria was found dead on Jan. 1 after the San Francisco Police and San Francisco Fire Department both responded to a report of a medical emergency at the Fairmont San Francisco hotel at 2:52 a.m.

The next day, her family released a statement, writing, "We appreciate all of the kind words, thoughts, and prayers. Please respect our privacy during this difficult time. Thank you."

In the year leading up to her death, Victoria was arrested at least two times, according to court records reviewed by People.

She pleaded not guilty to the charges.

On June 17, 2025, Victoria was arrested again in Napa County and charged with misdemeanor domestic battery, once again entering a not guilty plea.

Aldi's Stackable Organizer 2-Pack Solves One of Your Pantry's Most Chaotic Problems

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 4:05pm

Every time my husband thinks I can't possibly come home with another organizing tool or storage solution, there I am walking through the door with something that's going to make our lives easier. At first, he scoffs at the very notion of bringing one more thing into the house (sorry, buddy), but then once my organizing vision is cleanly laid out before him, he gets it. "Well. that's clever," he'll say. I then go about my business looking for more ways to declutter, and this entire scenario plays out again days later.

Personally, I find Aldi among the best places for affordable organizing supplies. While The Container Store may have everything displayed in the most stunning way, Aldi simply comes in hot with a no-frills stack of organizing finds that get the job done.

🍳 SIGN UP to get delicious recipes, handy kitchen hacks & fun food news in our daily Pop Kitchen newsletter 🍳

Aldi's Kirkton House 2-Pack Stackable Bottle Storage Rack is the kind of low-key piece I'm talking about. It's $9.99 and can hold bottles up to 1.5 liters. No, you won't be able to fit your two-liter soda bottles there, but it's perfect for wine bottles or for carefully stacking reusable water bottles and tumblers.

Kirkton House 2-Pack Stackable Bottle Storage Rack, $9.99 at Aldi

Aldi

While the racks are clearly stackable (hey, it's in the product name), they're also individually expandable if you want to create more horizontal space.

Related: 15 Photos of Pizza Hut in the '90s That Will Unlock a Core Memory

The beauty of stackable bins, drawers or shelves is that they use vertical space, aka the real estate I almost always forget about (and maybe you do, too). Instead of spreading everything out and hoping for the best, you build upward. Suddenly, that tiny pantry shelf, under-sink cabinet or closet corner is working twice as hard without actually taking up any more room.

Once you make more room with stackable organizers, you'll have space in those cabinets for one of Aldi's decorative bowls or a cute little nonstick saucepan. Am I an enabler when it comes to rationalizing Aldi Finds buys? Yes, yes, I am. But, seriously, have you even seen the Marimekko-inspired bedding set? There's a reason I'm obsessed.

Seriously, though, stackable storage just makes sense. It's simple, efficient and proof that sometimes the smartest solutions are the ones that go up instead of out.

'80s Rock Tribute Band Announces Update on 40th Anniversary Tour

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 4:03pm

A tribute band celebrating the music of R.E.M. has announced a last-minute tour update after severe winter weather forced a cancellation in Lake Tahoe.

According to a post shared on the band’s official Instagram account, Michael Shannon and Jason Narducy have added a new show on Feb. 16 at The Independent. The performance will start earlier than usual, with Bobcat at 7 p.m. and Shannon, Narducy and Friends taking the stage at 8 p.m.

The added date comes as their Feb. 17 show at The Fillmore has officially sold out. Organizers confirmed that snowstorms and dangerous road conditions made it unsafe to continue to Lake Tahoe, leading the group to spend more time in San Francisco instead.

Musical guests Michael Shannon and Jason Narducy perform on December 4, 2023 at the Late Night Season 11.

The tour is part of a larger 40th anniversary celebration of R.E.M.’s landmark 1986 album Lifes Rich Pageant. Actor Michael Shannon and musician Jason Narducy are performing the album in full, along with other R.E.M. favorites, on a nationwide 2026 run.

View this post on Instagram

The anniversary tour marks four decades since Lifes Rich Pageant helped push R.E.M. toward mainstream success. Released in July 1986, the album reached No. 21 on the Billboard chart and featured songs such as “Fall on Me,” “Begin the Begin” and a cover of “Superman,” sung by Mike Mills.

In September 2025, Shannon expressed deep gratitude for continuing the tribute run, according to FLOOD Magazine.

“It dumbfounds and delights me that we continue our crusade through this astounding catalogue of music from one of America’s most influential and unique bands,” Shannon said. “Now we find ourselves at a summit, Lifes Rich Pageant, and we’re all pinching ourselves in disbelief to be so lucky. The most strange and beautiful adventure.”

Narducy echoed that excitement by saying, “I’m thrilled to join Michael and our band in celebrating the 40th anniversary of R.E.M.’s monumental fourth album. This impeccable collection of songs meant so much to me when I first heard them and they continue to inspire and invigorate me.”

For Narducy, this album is personal. As a high school student in Evanston, Illinois, he first discovered R.E.M. through their 1987 album Document. That record, which included the hit “The One I Love,” led him backward into the band’s earlier catalog. Over time, Lifes Rich Pageant became one of his favorites.

What started as a small project has grown into a full tour with strong ticket sales. The duo previously celebrated the 40th anniversaries of R.E.M.’s Murmur and Fables of the Reconstruction. During a 2025 show at Athens’ 40 Watt Club, all four original R.E.M. members, Michael Stipe, Peter Buck, Mike Mills and Bill Berry, joined them on stage for “Pretty Persuasion.”

The upcoming 2026 run kicked off on February 11 in Denver and ends on March 16 in Bloomington, Indiana. It includes two nights in Athens, Georgia, the birthplace of R.E.M.

The renewed interest in R.E.M.’s music also comes as frontman Michael Stipe recently returned to television with an animated appearance on The Simpsons season finale. In the episode titled Homer? A Cracker Bro, Stipe performed a playful version of “Everybody Hurts,” renamed “Everybody Kirks.”As the 40th anniversary tour moves forward, one thing is clear: the music of Lifes Rich Pageant continues to connect with audiences.

On This Day in 1960: Elvis Presley Earned a Gold Record With History-Making Album

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 4:00pm

Exactly 66 years ago, Elvis Presley made history with his second studio album, Elvis.

On Feb. 17, 1960, Elvis was certified Gold by the RIAA, earning the Rock and Roll icon the first of many Gold albums. Elvis was originally released in 1956, and officially earned the Gold title, signifying 500,000 units sold, four years later.

Elvis, the second of two albums Presley released in October 1956, followed his self-titled debut album that dropped in March of that year.

His second album—which hosts songs like "Rip It Up," "Ready Teddy" and "Love Me"—spent four weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Pop Albums chart in 1956, making Presley the first artist to have two chart-topping albums in the same year.

And while Elvis would mark Presley's first-ever certified Gold album, it definitely wouldn't be his last. In fact, he now holds the record for the most RIAA-certified albums.

His debut album, with hits like "That's All Right" and "Blue Suede Shoes," would later be certified in 1966.

Presley has over 100 albums certified Gold or higher, including his only Diamond-certified album, Elvis' Christmas Album, which officially reached 10 million units sold (or streamed) in 2011.

The same year, both Presley's debut album and his second studio album hit Platinum status, reaching 1 million units each.

Presley also has over 80 RIAA-certified singles, including his first, "Hard Headed Woman," which was certified Gold in 1958.

He is the second-most certified Gold and Platinum solo artist of all time, behind only Garth Brooks, while The Beatles hold the number one spot overall.

Supergroup’s Hometown Visit Inspires Partial Reunion by Legendary Band

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 3:58pm

Fans who attended Drink the Sea’s Feb. 16 date at the legendary 40 Watt Club in Athens, Ga. were treated to a surprise guest.

The supergroup, featuring former R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck, was joined by his onetime bandmate Mike Mills for Drink the Sea’s cover of R.E.M.’s 1987 hit “The One I Love.” The band also includes former Screaming Trees drummer Barrett Martin and Alain Johannes of Queens of the Stone Age, Them Crooked Vultures, Eleven and What Is This.

Drink the Sea has been performing “The One I Love” live on their current tour, which included a Feb. 7 stop at the Lodge Room in Los Angeles witnessed by this writer, with Johannes singing lead on the song.

In Athens, per video posted on Instagram, Johannes once again handled the lead vocals, leaving Mills--dressed in a black leather jacket--to recreate his iconic backing vocals from R.E.M.’s classic recording.

The band’s performance in Athens received a rave review by the Songwriters on Process podcast’s Instagram account.

“Where to even begin? Last night’s @drinktheseaofficial show at @40wattathens was one of the most enthralling shows I’ve ever seen. My buddy @alainjohannes is in the band along with @dukegarwood@barrettmartinofficial Peter Buck @rem and @lisettegarcia333,” wrote host Ben Opipari, in the caption he shared along with video of Mills’ guest appearance.

“Alain described it to me perfectly: this show demands audience concentration. The musicianship is exquisite, mesmerizing. You focus intently on the band members as they play. You take turns watching individuals, not just the collective. There are wind instruments, an upright bass, a cigar box guitar, a glockenspiel. And a PBS filmmaker’s images play behind Martin. There are pounding beats and gentle instrumentals. I’ve never experienced music like this before,” he added. “Oh yeah, and Mike Mills joined the band for “The One I Love.” That’s Alain on vox. I only captured this song at the end of the set bc it was the first time I thought about taking my eyes off the band to grab my phone. If this band comes to town, go. You’ll remember this one for a long time.”

R.E.M. formed in Athens in 1980 and some of its members still have ties to the Georgia college town, which means they occasionally drop into their old stomping ground at the 40 Watt for surprise appearances.

Last year when actor Michael Shannon and indie musician Jason Narducy & Friends brought their tour commemorating the 40th anniversary of R.E.M.’s Fables of the Reconstruction album to the club, all four members of R.E.M. turned out and joined Shannon, Narducy and company onstage.

Shannon and Narducy are once again touring to commemorate the 40th anniversary of another classic R.E.M. album. This time it’s Lifes Rich Pageant. They bring their tour to the Bellwether in Los Angeles on Feb. 19. The trek, which kicked off Feb. 11 in Denver, runs through March 16 in Bloomington, Ind. in the same state where the album was recorded at John Mellencamp’s Belmont Mall Studios with producer Don Gehman.

Ann Patchett Slams ‘Bitter’ Review of ‘New York Times’ No. 1 Bestselling Book: ‘You Should Read It’

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 3:56pm

Ann Patchett rallied behind fellow author George Saunders after his new book, Vigil, received a scathing review.

Patchett, 62, addressed the criticism in the Tuesday, February 17, edition of her Nashville bookstore Parnassus Books’ “Laydown Diaries” series, which highlights new releases each week. She introduced the novel as “No. 1 New York Times bestseller, our [First Editions Club] pick, our friend George Saunders’ Vigil.”

“This is such a wonderful book, and it got the worst, trashing review from the most bitter and self-aggrandizing reviewer. It was as wrong as any review I’ve ever seen,” she said in the video. “And so I love the fact that the nation has stood up and said, ‘Guess what? We love this book. It’s brilliant.’ It is. You should read it.”

Patchett then emphasized her reputation as a stellar recommender of books, asking, “Whose word are you gonna take? Mine or someone else’s?”

In the caption of Parnassus’ Instagram post, the bookstore added, “Ann has some thoughts for a reviewer who shall not be named.”

While Patchett did not identify the critic in the video, she seemed to be referring to Dwight Garner’sNew York Times review of Saunders’ Vigil. The novel—which debuted atop the outlet’s bestsellers list following its January 27 release—follows a dying oil company CEO and an angel who escorts his soul to the afterlife.

“‘Once you start illustrating virtue, you had better stop writing fiction,’ Robert Penn Warren wrote. It was once difficult to imagine this dictum might apply to George Saunders,” Garner began in his review.

The critic went on to disparage different aspects of Vigil, claiming that readers will not “feel the full force of these characters,” the premise is not “enough to hang a novel on” and the author makes “his points too heavily, working to insert wisdom into our open beaks.”

Garner concluded, “This author has a lot of good will in the bank. He deserves it. Come back from the brink, Mr. Saunders. Please don’t disappear up your own kazoo.”

Despite Garner’s critique of Vigil, Saunders’ novel earned praise from other reviewers, with the Los Angeles Times deeming it “even more spectacular than the last” book by the 67-year-old author and Publishers Weekly noting that Saunders “has outdone himself with this endlessly irreverent work of art.”

Readers also supported Patchett calling out Garner in the comments section of Parnassus’ Instagram post.

“Not Ann coming for reviewers! God I love her,” one person wrote, while another added, “I am SO glad you took on the Vigil review! I was verklempt over it … bless you, AP!”

Others shared just how much weight Patchett’s recommendations carry in the book world.

“I loved Vigil! Always listen to Ann!” a fan replied, while another chimed in, “I will always take Ann’s word on books!!”

Many readers concurred with Patchett’s stance on Vigil, with one person responding, “Such a good book! People need to go deeper and see the meaning behind the words. Loved it.”

Another fan added, “I agree with you on [Vigil]. … I read it in 30 hours. Outstanding!”

New Details Emerge in Shia LaBeouf's Arrest

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 3:55pm

New details have emerged regarding the arrest of Shia LaBeouf.

On Tuesday, Feb. 17, the Transformers actor was arrested while celebrating Mardi Gras in New Orleans following an altercation that occurred outside a business on Royal Street.

In a statement provided to People, the New Orleans Police Department alleged that LaBeouf punched two men after causing a disturbance.

“At approximately 12:45am on February 17, 2026, NOPD officers were called to the 1400 block of Royal Street in response to a simple battery where two victims (two adult males), reported being assaulted,” police told the outlet.

“Investigators say a man identified as 39-year-old Shia LaBeouf was reportedly causing a disturbance and becoming increasingly aggressive at a Royal Street business," the statement continued. "A staff member attempted to eject Mr. LaBeouf from the establishment. Once removed from the building, the victim reported being struck by LaBeouf who used his closed fists on the victim several times.”

“The victims reported that LaBeouf left, but then came back, acting even more aggressive," police added.

“Multiple people attempted to hold him down—he was eventually let up in hopes that he would leave-—but he reportedly again struck the same victim with closed fists to the victim’s upper body," the statement continued. "LaBeouf then reportedly assaulted another person-punching him in the nose.”

“LaBeouf was again held down until police arrived,” the statement concluded. “He was taken to a hospital for treatment of unknown injuries. Upon release, he was arrested and charged with two counts of simple battery.”

LaBeouf is expected to appear in court Tuesday afternoon.

TMZ was the first to report LaBeouf's arrest, publishing a video that appears to show the actor shirtless and involved in a fight with a group of men before being restrained by them ahead of police arriving.

The outlet also has photos of the actor receiving medical aid in an ambulance before being taken away.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, LaBeouf has been spotted in multiple drinking establishments in New Orleans recently, with multiple eyewitnesses providing accounts of alleged bad behavior.

One account described the actor as being in an “inebriated” state and “somewhat belligerent.” LaBeouf was also accused of asking bar patrons “Do you know who I am?” before posing for a photo with fans.

In August 2022, LaBeouf claimed to be 627 days sober, referring to this period of sobriety as his "great humbling."

LaBeouf has previously been to rehab and has been arrested in the past in relation to alcohol, including a 2017 arrest for public intoxication.

Costco's Must-Have Set of Rechargeable LED Lamps Is the Chic Find You Need to Add Glow to Any Space

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 3:55pm

In the world of home design and tech-integrated living, 2026 is officially the year of the "cordless revolution." Homeowners are increasingly moving away from the clutter of tangled wires and the limitations of fixed wall outlets. Whether you're designing a cozy reading nook or setting up a sleek modern home office, the demand for portable, high-efficiency lighting has never been higher. Designers are now prioritizing flexibility, allowing light to move with the user rather than being tethered to a single corner of the room.

Beyond mere portability, the current trend centers on "layered lighting"—the idea that a single overhead fixture isn't enough to create a truly inviting atmosphere. By incorporating smaller, localized light sources, you can transform a sterile environment into a warm, curated space. From "dopamine decor" to the "quiet luxury" aesthetic, the focus is on sleek silhouettes and intuitive technology that complements a clean, minimalist lifestyle without sacrificing power or performance.

Additionally, they offer a personalized experience with three shades of light: warm white for a cozy evening vibe, natural white for everyday activities, and cool white for crisp, high-visibility illumination.

Designed for indoor use only, these cordless lamps are the perfect solution for areas where an outlet might be out of reach or where a dangling wire would ruin the "aesthetic." 2000s Indie Rock Band Announces New Album Ahead of World Tour

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 3:42pm

Following their 2024 album Synthesizer, A Place To Bury Strangers is back with new music.

The indie alternative rock band announced via Instagram on Tuesday that they will be releasing their new rarities album, Rare and Deadly, on April 3 via Dedstrange Records. The lead single, "Everyone's The Same," is out now.

Rare and Deadly is set to feature 25 new tracks that were written over the past decade. The album will include "demos, B-sides, abandoned experiments and forgotten fragments," which reveal the band's most unfiltered ideas and beautiful mistakes.

"Pulled from my personal archive of late-night recordings, blown-out tapes and half-finished sessions, these tracks pulse with the unruly energy that has always defined APTBS, but here the interference is closer, the electricity more dangerous, the edges left jagged on purpose," frontman Oliver Ackermann wrote on their Instagram caption.

The new project was announced a week after the group finished a tour around Australia. APTBS are also set to tour around Europe this April, hitting multiple cities including Prague, Budapest, Athens, Rome, Milan and more.

View this post on Instagram

What's unique about Rare and Deadly is that each format will tell a different story. The album will come out on CD, cassette, vinyl and digitally, and each will feature its own unique tracks.

"Instead, each format becomes its own window into the archive, revealing alternate paths, missing links and parallel versions of the band’s inner life," Ackermann explained. "It’s a deliberately unstable document: the album shifts depending on how you choose to hear it, mirroring the chaos of its creation."

Reflecting on the lead single, "Everyone's The Same," Ackermann got the idea from a dream he had.

"I had a dream where a man led me to a brook, peaceful and calm. When he turned his head slightly, I saw the most evil smile imaginable. But when I looked directly at him, it was just the back of his head again," he said. "Beauty and horror coexisting in the same space. It felt like hell leaking into something serene. Maybe that’s reality sometimes. And maybe pretending otherwise is a kind of survival."

Indie band A Place To Bury Strangers performing at SXSW in Austin in 2008.

Known as the "loudest band in New York," A Place To Bury Strangers was formed by Ackermann, David Goffan and Tim Gregorio in New York City in 2002. They slowly started gaining a following after a performance with Brian Jonestown Massacre in 2006 at Webster Hall. After playing many local shows for the first few years and after multiple lineup changes, APTBS released their self-titled debut album in 2007. Since then, they have released six studio albums and multiple EPs. The current members include Ackermann, Sandra Fedowitz on drums and John Fedowitz on bass.

"Rare and Deadly is less a compilation and more a documentary — an aural snapshot of how sound takes shape before it hardens into something finished. You hear the room, the accidents, the restless experimentation, the immediacy of a moment being captured before it disappears," the band wrote in their official press release. "It’s a reminder that A Place To Bury Strangers has always thrived in this in-between space: the tension between control and collapse, melody and noise, beauty and distortion."

Rare and Deadly by A Place To Bury Strangers will be out on April 3. Merch, CDs, vinyls, casettes and digital editions are available for pre-order now on their official website.
