Heavy bedding season is almost behind us. While you might swap out the plump comforters and flannel sheets in preparation for the seasonal shift, a blanket is still an important layer that can help you stay comfortable on those cool spring nights. The key to maintaining that comfort is to opt for bedding that helps regulate your temperature without sacrificing the coziness that helps you sleep soundly.

An option like the Brookstone Cooling Reversible Blanket makes a thoughtful addition to your linen closet, especially if your current blanket lineup leans heavier and thicker. This offers the best of both worlds, with a soft-knit fabric on one side that promotes warmth and a cool-touch material on the other for nights when you might sleep hot. Down from $50 to just $25 at Marshalls, the queen-size blanket adds a touch of soft, springy blue to your bedroom.

Cooling bedding is a smart investment, seeing you through several seasons with a breathable option that wicks moisture and helps you stay fresh through the night. The dual-sided design is an especially practical touch for those who tend to feel hot no matter the season. It's great to use solo during spring and summer, and transitions nicely to cooler months as a smooth layering piece under a comforter or duvet.

The fill is what sets this apart from other cooling blankets. It contains hypoallergenic polyester that's designed to mimic the lofty feel of genuine down, giving you an allergy-friendly alternative that feels as light as a cloud. Made with a blend of polyester and nylon, it's also machine washable for easy care.

There's a misconception that functional bedding like this leans more plain, but this attractive design proves otherwise. Brookstone incorporated a homey quilted finish on both sides, a subtle but eye-catching element that adds to the blanket's classic appeal. The aesthetic is clean and streamlined, and it blends in nicely whether you love a farmhouse or slight cottagecore aesthetic or prefer a traditional look.

Tossing and turning can really interfere with the quality of your sleep, and in turn impact how you feel during the day. 2000s Rock Band Announces First North America Tour in 14 Years

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 1:39pm

The Cab is back from the dead.

The Las Vegas pop-rock band went on hiatus after their guitarist, Alex Marshall, in April 2014, after the release of their EP, Lock Me Up. Since then, the other members have gone on to pursue other projects.

The Cab released new music for the first time in 11 years, with another EP titled Road to Reign: A Prelude on Sept. 26. They also marked their first performance since their breakup at the When We Were Young Festival this past October in Nevada, and played two shows in Singapore and the Philippines in December.

The Cab performs at the Sims 3 Ambitions at H Wood on June 23, 2010 in Los Angeles, California.

On Tuesday, The Cab announced via X that they will be headlining their first United States tour in over a decade, billed as the Back From the Dead Tour, this May and June. The tour will kick off in Dallas on May 22 and conclude in Boston on June 30. The group is also expected to perform in Houston, San Diego, Los Angeles, Denver, Portland, Seattle, Nashville, Orlando, Atlanta, Philadelphia, New York City and more. Paradise Fears, Jady and CARR will be opening acts for select shows.

"We know it's been a minute, but WE’RE BACK and coming to a city near you!" the group wrote as their caption. "Can’t believe we are going on our first U.S. headliner in over a decade."

The last time they embarked on a headlining tour across the United States was in January and February 2012, when they hit the road for the Everything’s Fine Symphony Soldier Tour, co-headlining alongside The Summer Set.

In the same announcement, The Cab also revealed that their third studio album, Chasing Crowns, will be out on April 24. The lead single, "Locked and Loaded," will be released this Friday. The last LP the band put out was Symphony Soldier in August 2011.

Alex Marshall, guitar player of The Cab performs live at the Wachovia Spectrum on Nov. 1, 2008, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The American rock band was formed in Las Vegas by Alexander DeLeon, Alex Marshall and Joey Thunder in 2004. After performing at local shows and even singing with a local label (but not releasing any material), the band finally released their debut album, Whisper War, four years later.

The Cab released a second studio album and two EPs before Marshall announced he was parting ways with the group, and they eventually went on hiatus shortly afterwards. In an interview DeLeon did with All Access in October 2017, he revealed that the band was taking a break and he was working as a solo artist, but he hinted at a potential return for The Cab. Then two years later, the musician confirmed that the band was working on new music, but didn't come back until 2025, when they were offered the opportunity to perform at When We Are Young and support All Time Low on their EVERYONE'S TALKING Tour.

"We’ve been on the fence for a long time about when and if we were gonna get back together. We’re old men now, we’re in our thirties. We started this thing when we were like 14," DeLeon told Melodic Magazine. "We got the call from When We Were Young and found out Panic! [at the Disco] was headlining, playing a Fever You Can’t Sweat Out. I think we all got on the phone and were like, ‘If we’re not doing it now, we’re never doing it. This is too perfect.'"

Shakira Set to Headline Copacabana Megashow 2026 in Río de Janeiro

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 1:37pm

Colombian superstar Shakira has been officially confirmed as the headlining artist for the "Todo Mundo no Rio" megashow, scheduled for May 2, 2026, on the iconic Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The announcement was made by Rio's mayor, Eduardo Paes, ending weeks of speculation about who would top this year's bill.

"The greatest Latino artist in history will make history on the sands of Copacabana," Paes wrote on Instagram, after sharing another video of Shakira with a "confirmed" caption just days ago. "The River welcomes you with open arms, @shakira."

Shakira's performance is expected to transform Copacabana's famed shoreline into a massive stage for fans from Brazil and around the world. A supporting act has not yet been announced, but organizers are preparing a full production including significant audiovisual enhancements.

The event, produced in partnership between the Rio city government and the concert promoter Bonus Track, has quickly become one of the world's premier free open-air concerts. Previous editions featured massive performances by global icons: Madonna drew an estimated 1.6 million people in 2024, and Lady Gaga attracted over two million in 2025, helping boost tourism and local economic activity.

Shakira's attendance caps a remarkable period in her career. The singer has been on the road with her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, which launched in February 2025 and became one of the most successful Latin music tours ever, with millions of tickets sold globally.

Shakira herself has expressed excitement about performing on Copacabana's sands, saying she misses her Brazilian fans and can't wait to share an unforgettable night of music and dance.

"Brazil, I love you!!!!" she wrote on Instagram. "Soon I will be with you to sing, dance, samba, and share unforgettable moments on the most iconic beach in the world!!! 🇧🇷😍❤️"

With expectations of drawing well over a million attendees, the 2026 Copacabana Megashow is poised to be another historic moment for live music in Brazil, reinforcing both Shakira's global appeal and the cultural significance of open-air music festivals in Rio.

For now, the singer is celebrating one year since her tour began, alongside her "herd," which has made her "so happy these 365 days," she's shared on social media.

Savannah Guthrie's Mom: Breaking Update From Sheriff Confirms Information About DNA Test

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 1:36pm

Nancy Guthrie has been missing since Sunday, Feb. 1, and a recent DNA test has not provided any possible matches within CODIS—an FBI-managed system that matches DNA profiles from convicted offenders, arrestees, crime scene evidence, and missing persons.

Over the past two weeks, authorities have found a number of different gloves in the areas around Nancy's home. There was one in particular, however, that was sent out to a lab for testing. Those results would then be entered into the CODIS system to see if there was a potential match. However, on Tuesday, Feb. 17, the Pima County Sheriff's Department confirmed that no match was found.

"DNA evidence from gloves found approximately 2 miles from Nancy Guthrie's residence was submitted to CODIS & produced no matches. There is additional DNA evidence that was found at the residence that is also being analyzed," read a message posted on the Pima County Sheriff's Department's official X account.

The post was met with harsh criticism from social media users, many who have become frustrated by the case.

"17 days. Her life is in danger and still no dna test results for inside Nancy’s house. Find Nancy! Yesterday!!!" one person wrote.

"We are begging you, please let the FBI take over. This isn’t a game. A vulnerable woman’s life is in danger and it’s evident you want to play games. Please set aside your ego for the good of Nancy and her family," someone else said.

Additionally, according to Fox News Digital's Michael Ruiz, Sheriff Nanos told Fox News' Jonathan Hunt that the DNA on the glove did not match the DNA found inside Nancy's home. The FBI has confirmed this and that there was no match in CODIS.

The latest update from PCSD comes just one day after Sheriff Chris Nanos stated that the Guthrie family had been cleared as suspects in the case.

"To be clear…the Guthrie family – to include all siblings and spouses – has been cleared as possible suspects in this case. The family has been nothing but cooperative and gracious and are victims in this case," Nanos said in a statement posted on social media.

The public has been questioning that conclusion, with retired FBI agent Jonathan Gilliam saying that he believes that Nanos' claims were emotional rather than based on facts.

Authorities believe that Nancy, 84, may have been abducted from her Arizona home in the overnight hours of Feb. 1. Investigators have been sifting through thousands of tips with no clear leads, suspects, or information on Nancy's current whereabouts that the public is aware of.

Trader Joe’s Drops New Limited-Time Flavor of Chips

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 1:35pm

Have potato chip flavors gotten out of control, or can we all agree that it’s a “the more, the merrier” situation? Enter: Trader Joe’s new, limited-time Thai Style Yellow Curry Flavored Potato Chips.

According to the popular nationwide grocer, the chips, retailing for $2.99 a bag, “will curry favor with anyone who loves a savory, aromatic, spice-forward snack.”

The official Trader Joe’s website, adds, “Just like authentic Thai Yellow Curry, these golden-hued Chips convey the mild heat of chili pepper, with the subtle tang of lime, plus a hint of brown-sugar—along with garlic, onion, and a host of other spices. All of this is delivered with the crisp crunch of thin, classic-cut Potato Chips.”

These chips will be available at Trader Joe’s through April of this year.

Taking to Reddit, Trader Joe’s fans have already started debating over the Thai Style Yellow Curry Flavored Potato Chips. One Reddit user kicked off the now-popular thread by posting about the new item, and later added their review:

“The chips are OK — they're what's advertised on the bag: Good amount of curry seasoning, but it doesn't quite hit the spot in terms of a flavor that's super satisfying in chip format or that I'm dying to try again. I agree with the other commenter who said they're kind of boring in a way,” they wrote.

Others, however, seemed to really enjoy the new selection. “I had them, they're very good. Heavy curry spice notes, especially turmeric, are present on the chips and slightly [fishy] saucy savoriness," a second TJ shopper added.

Trader Joe's year-round chip selection includes popular flavors like Chili & Lime Rolled Corn Chips, Organic Elote Corn Chip Dippers, Chips in a Pickle, Gluten-Free Garlic Butter Irish Potato Chips, Jerk-Style Plantain Chips, White Truffle Potato Chips, Ridge Cut Potato Chips (Horseradish & Chives), Gluten-Free Spicy Cheese Crunchies, Blue Corn Tortilla Chips, and Ghost Pepper Potato Chips.

Death of James Van Der Beek Marks Three Losses Among Varsity Blues’ Main Cast

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 1:32pm

The recent passing of Dawson's Creek star, James Van Der Beek, marks the third loss from the main cast of 1999's Varsity Blues.

27 years since its release, the ensemble cast from the 90s film has been faced with numerous tragedies. Joe Pichler, who played Van Der Beek's younger brother in the film, went missing in 2006. Pichler's disappearance remains unsolved to this day but he has never been legally declared deceased.

In 2013, Paul Walker, died tragically in a car crash at just 40-years-old. Walker portrayed team captain Lance Harbor in the film. Then in 2016, Ron Lester, who played offensive guard Billy Bob, passed away in 2016 from liver and kidney failure when he was 45-years-old.

Varsity Blues was filmed shortly after the premiere of Dawson' Creek and Van Der Beek said at the time he was excited to step into a character so different from Dawson.

"If there's something [Mox] wants, he generally goes out and gets it," he told Teen People in 1998. "It's fun to tap into that part of my personality."

Van Der Beek also told Teen People at the time that he had decided to dye his hair for the role because, "I wouldn't want people to look up on screen and see Dawson."

During his battle with colon cancer, Van Der Beek sold signed Varsity Blues jerseys to raise money for treatment.

"Merch drop! Excited to celebrate the 25th anniversary of #VarsityBlues with a limited edition #4 Moxon jersey — each one personally autographed by me. 100% of my net proceeds will go to families recovering from the financial burden of cancer (including my own 😇)," he posted on Instagram and Facebook in Dec. 2024.

Additionally, Van Der Beek auctioned off various memorabilia from his past projects in Nov. 2025, including Varsity Blues, with 100% of the proceeds going to this family and towards his cancer treatment.

After publishing his design on the platform, it reached the 10,000-vote milestone and underwent the rigorous Lego Ideas review process, ultimately earning approval to become an official Lego set.

Becker shared some insight into his process, saying, "I've always been a huge fan of Snoopy and the Lego brand, so I decided to design my own version of him. I originally built them for myself, but over the course of a year, my family persuaded me to submit them to the Lego Ideas platform, and now here we are."

Even Lego Group's marketing director, Monica Pedersen, chimed in to sing Becker's praises, saying, "This set has so much character, clearly inspired by an iconic scene from the Peanuts comic strip. Giving fans the opportunity to build the campfire scene of Snoopy and Woodstock toasting marshmallows under a starry night is a wonderful representation of a much-loved character."

Pee Smelling Like Popcorn? Doctors Reveal the 4 Most Common Reasons—And When to Worry

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 1:25pm

Your pee typically has such a mild odor that you probably don’t even notice it. But it can sometimes take a noticeable stench, like after you eat asparagus. But what does it mean if your pee starts smelling like...popcorn

Urine is the liquid waste that your kidneys produce after the organs filter your blood, according to the Cleveland Clinic. The urine, which is mostly made up of water along with salt, electrolytes and other substances, travels through your urinary system, including through your bladder and urethra, before exiting your body. Healthy urine is typically light yellow in color.

When your urinary system is working as it should, and you’re drinking plenty of water, your pee “shouldn’t be too foul-smelling,” says Dr. Yoshua Quinones, MD,an internal medicine physician at Medical Offices of Manhattan and contributor to LabFinder

But it may have a slight ammonia scent. And, the ammonia odor may become stronger when you’re dehydrated, says Samuel Grey Tilden, MD, a family medicine and primary care physician with PlushCare

Ultimately, there’s “no precise clinical threshold defining excessive odor” of urine, Dr. Tilden says. Really, “it depends a lot on your hydration and diet,” Dr. Quinones adds. Taking certain medications and supplements can sometimes make your pee smelly, too.

But if your pee begins smelling especially pungent or unpleasant, or takes on new odors (such as popcorn), it could suggest something may be going on with your health. Here’s what you should know and when to worry, according to doctors.

Why Does Your Pee Smell Like Popcorn?

Doctors say popcorn-scented urine could be due to a few reasons, including:

Dehydration

The less water you drink, the more concentrated your urine is, Dr. Quinones says. When it becomes too concentrated, waste products also concentrate, which may produce an unusual odor, sometimes described as “sweet, nutty, or popcorn-like,” Dr. Tilden says.

Related: Can a Urinary Tract Infection Cause Lower Back Pain?

Dehydration is the most common reason your pee may smell like popcorn, Dr. Tilden adds. Usually, increasing your water intake will resolve the odor.

Diet

Eating too much popcorn or corn products could potentially make your pee smell like popcorn as well, Dr. Tilden says. So could coffee or certain spices. This may be due to metabolites (or chemical byproducts) excreted in the urine.

A high-protein or low-carb diet may increase fat breakdown and ketones (the acids your body produces when it uses body fat for energy instead of sugar), and this may cause your pee to “smell like sweet popcorn,” says Dr. Quinones.

Diabetes

High ketone levels can “produce a sweet or fruity odor that some patients describe as popcorn-like,” Dr. Tilden says. This could be a sign of diabetes and potentially a symptom of diabetic-related ketoacidosis, which is a life-threatening condition. This should be especially concerning if you have type 1 diabetes, take SGLT2 inhibitors for diabetes or chronic kidney disease, or have unexplained high blood sugar, he says.

Related: This Is Hands-Down the Best Drink for Gut Health, According to Gastroenterologists

If you have other symptoms, including excessive thirst, frequent urination, unintentional weight loss, and fatigue, see your doctor about a possible diabetes screening, Dr. Quinones.

Supplements, antibiotics and UTIs

B vitamins and some antibiotics can give your urine an unusual smell, too, Dr. Quinones. Urinary tract infections may also produce foul or atypical odors, Dr. Tilden adds.

When Should You Worry About Your Pee Smelling Like Popcorn?

When your pee smells like popcorn, start by drinking more water to avoid dehydration, and try to eat a balanced diet, Dr. Quinones says. If it still smells like popcorn after a few days, see your doctor.

It’s especially important to see a doctor if the odor is accompanied by other symptoms, like jaundice, easy bruising, blood in the urine, urinary pain, abdominal pain, nausea or vomiting, or changes in urinary urgency or frequency, Dr. Tilden adds.

Doctors will discuss your symptoms and may do tests, such as a urinalysis to measure ketones and glucose, and check your blood glucose level, Dr. Quinones says. They may also check your hydration status and test for conditions like a UTI, Dr. Tilden adds.

How To Keep Your Pee From Smelling Like Popcorn

To prevent popcorn-scented pee, here are a few tips:

  • Stay hydrated. Your pee should be a light yellow color, Dr. Tilden says. If it’s darker, it could be a sign of dehydration. “You should also be releasing your bladder seven or more times per day to be confident you are adequately hydrated,” he tells Parade
  • Eat a balanced diet. Avoiding a diet too high in protein could normalize your pee odor. Dr. Quinones suggests balancing it out the protein with healthy carbs, like fruits, vegetables and whole grains.
  • Review your medications and supplements. If it’s been prescribed by your doctor, talk to them about any changes in your pee odor, Dr. Tilden says. Your doctor may also be able to help you identify if an over-the-counter supplement could be to blame.

Hilary Duff Says Becoming a Mom Led to 'Deeper, More Surprising Friendships'

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 1:23pm

Pop culture met Hilary Duff as a child and watched her grow up. She's a mother of four children, and her marriage to Matthew Koma has influenced her new music. Duff, 38, revealed how motherhood has changed her friendships, and one famous mother revealed how she's inspired by the returning singer.

Duff's friendship circle recently made headlines because Ashley Tisdale French wrote for The Cut about breaking up with a toxic mom friend group. A psychologist later revealed she inspired The High School Musical star. Koma confirmed she was referencing Duff and other famous mothers with his Instagram Story. Duff addressed motherhood and friendships in her new interview.

"I feel exceedingly lucky that my kids happen to spend time with people that I feel like our values are aligned with," Duff told Glamour. "The friends that I’ve made since becoming a parent are some of the deeper, more surprising friendships I’ve found as an adult." She noted that having a work history going back to 10 years old made it hard for her to find friends her own age. That also affected her dating life, which inspired her song, "Mature."

Mandy Moore is one of those friends and she showed support for Duff's return to music in the same interview. "She’s such an incredible talent and such an incredible mother. Seeing the way that she balances her life is really inspiring to me," the This Is Us star explained. Duff is the mother of a 13-year-old, a seven-year-old, a four-year-old, and a one-year-old.

Duff's "Lucky Me" world tour starts in June 2026 in the United States and ends in February 2027. She'll then go to Europe, Australia, Canada, and Mexico City.

1968 Classic Ranked ‘Greatest Country Rock Album’ of All Time

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 1:22pm

After nearly six decades, this classic country rock album is still influencing the genre.

Last October, BBC Music Magazine ranked the top 21 greatest country rock albums of all time. Beating out both Neil Young's 1972 album Harvest at No. 4 and The Flying Burrito Brothers' 1969 album The Gilded Palace of Sin, the Byrds claimed the top spot with their iconic 1968 album Sweetheart of the Rodeo.

Released in 1968, Sweetheart of the Rodeo marked the Byrds' sixth studio album. Recorded by Gary Usher via Columbia Records, the country rock album produced long-lasting classics like the band's cover of Bob Dylan's "You Ain't Goin' Nowhere" and originals co-written by Gram Parsons like "Hickory Wind" and "One Hundred Years From Now." The album is also recognized as a genre shift for the band, distinctly altering their earlier psychedelic/raga rock material to a country rock sound.

While Sweetheart of the Rodeo is recognized today as a foundational country rock album, it didn't start out that way. Initially, the album was a commercial disappointment with only one track making it into the Billboard charts and the album itself peaking at No. 77 on the Billboard Top LP chart. Its poor chart performance contrasted sharply with their earlier top-10 successes. Widespread appreciation for the record didn't come until decades later when the album was re-evaluated with new ears.

Music lovers of the '90s determined the album was a defining work in the genre, highlighting the band's ability to blend country and rock seamlessly. Today, Sweetheart of the Rodeo has solidified a legacy as one of the first albums in the country rock genre, continuing to garner the critical acclaim it deserved decades after its original release.

The Legacy of The Byrds

The Byrds were formed in 1964 by vocalist Roger McGuinn, tambourinist Gene Clark and guitarist David Crosby. Bassist Chris Hillman and drummer Michael Clarke joined later to complete the groups original lineup. Between 1965 and 1973, the band released 12 studio albums, with their debut Mr. Tambourine Man giving the band their first taste of mainstream success.

Throughout their career, the Byrds built a legacy as folk-rock icons, being recognized by several Halls of Fame including inductions into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1991 and Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2006. Additionally, four of their songs have been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Today, the country rockers continue to make waves and resonate with modern audiences.

Drake’s Celebrates 100th Birthday of Devil Dogs With New Flavor

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 1:07pm

Drake's Devil Dogs are officially a century old, and to celebrate the milestone, the iconic snack cake brand is introducing a new flavor for fans to enjoy.

The news comes as the brand celebrates another turning point in its history: the 130th anniversary of its snacking business and from what Parade understands, there are more surprises ahead this year—including the rumored comeback of its famous Honey Buns (which disappeared about five years ago and are expected to return with a new look).

That said, as for what we absolutely do know, Drake's Devil Dogs will soon be available in a new Mochacchino flavor.

"As we celebrate 100 years of Devil Dogs and 130 years of Drake's, we're honoring what fans have always loved while setting the stage for what's next," Erica Cunningham, Drake's brand manager, shared in a Feb. 17 press release. "Mochaccino Devil Dogs are the first taste of an exciting new chapter for Drake's Cakes, pairing the familiar comfort of an iconic favorite with a new layer of flavor and inspiration."

The new treats are said to offer a "bold, modern update" to a longtime favorite, just without a barista or expensive espresso equipment. According to an official description, they're made with a rich devil's food cake that's then filled with a smooth and creamy mochaccino-flavored creme for the "perfect balance" of indulgent cocoa and coffee notes.

"Rooted in nostalgia but energized by bold new ideas, this launch kicks off a year of celebration and innovation, proving that Drake's timeless favorites can still surprise and delight," Cunningham added. "It's a taste that spans generations, and just the beginning of more exciting things to come."

Mochaccino Devil Dogs are the first new release in the year-long celebration dubbed "Drake's Let the Dogs Out!" As part of the campaign, the company said it will introduce a new flavor of Devil Dogs each quarter.

While it's determined to keep the rest of what's to come a surprise, McKee Foods (the maker of both Drake's and Little Debbie) promises that each new addition will "spark excitement" in the snack aisle and "bring fresh energy to the beloved brand."

That said, just like birthdays, these flavors are set to come and go. So expect the Mochaccino Devil Dogs to disappear from shelves by the time the next new variety is announced.

So, if the Mochaccino variety sounds like a can't-miss offer to you, keep an eye out the next time you're in the snack aisle at your local grocer or other Drake's retailer (like Target and Walmart). The new flavor is expected to be on shelves now, if not in the coming weeks, at participating retailers for a limited time (prices may vary).

I’m From Louisiana—Here’s What I Really Thought of Ina Garten’s Jambalaya

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 1:07pm

Being from Louisiana, Creole and Cajun food isn’t just something I like, it’s part of how I cook, how I eat and how I think about comfort food. Gumbo, maque choux, étouffée and red beans and rice are some of my favorites. And then there's jambalaya.

The one-pot rice dish is a Louisiana classic, with every cook having their own interpretation of the recipe. There's also the difference between Cajun and Creole jambalaya. Cajun jambalaya is often called “brown jambalaya” because it skips tomatoes and gets its color from deeply browned meat and caramelized vegetables. Creole jambalaya, which is my favorite, is sometimes referred to as “red jambalaya” because it includes tomatoes.

Surprisingly, I don't have a go-to jambalaya recipe, and when I went looking for one, I was intrigued when I ran across a version from none other than Ina Garten. Ina's not a Louisiana gal, so I was interested to learn about her connection to this dish.

As I researched, I found that Ina actually has a few different jambalaya recipes, one of which was shared by the Food Network on YouTube. That dish, made by Ina's friend and Louisiana native Amelia Durand, included diced ham, which wasn’t the direction I was looking to go in.

Instead, I chose Ina's jambalaya recipe from her Barefoot Contessa Foolproof cookbook, which seems to be her interpretation of the recipe Durand shared with her. It uses sausage, shrimp and chicken all in one pot, which is my ideal combo. Would Ina's take on the Louisiana favorite hit the mark? There was only one way to find out. Here's what happened when I made the dish in my kitchen.

How Is Ina Garten’s Jambalaya Different From Traditional Versions?

Ina’s jambalaya leans firmly Creole, thanks to the inclusion of tomatoes, tomato paste and a generous amount of vegetables. While many traditional Louisiana versions rely on long-simmered depth and a heavier hand with spice, Ina’s approach is a bit lighter. The flavors are layered, with herbs like oregano and thyme shining alongside cayenne.

Another notable difference is the technique. Ina browns the sausage and chicken separately, while most jambalaya recipes cook them together. Plus, Ina keeps the skin and bones on her chicken as she cooks it, but most jambalaya recipes call for boneless and skinless chicken.

The addition of white wine in this dish is also a Barefoot Contessa signature. It's not traditional, but it makes the dish feel a little lighter and brighter and adds some subtle wine notes, which make a simple rice recipe feel a little fancy.

Ingredients Needed

Ina's jambalaya is packed with ingredients, but all of them are necessary. You’ll need olive oil, andouille or kielbasa sausage, shrimp (Ina uses shrimp with tails on, but I chose shrimp that were peeled with the tail off), bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs (I used breasts because I don't care for dark meat), salt and black pepper. The vegetable base includes onion, red bell peppers and celery (the Cajun holy trinity) along with peeled canned tomatoes, tomato paste, jalapeño and garlic. I also used a green bell pepper.

Seasonings include dried oregano, dried thyme and cayenne pepper. Dry white wine and chicken stock form the cooking liquid, while extra-long-grain white rice absorbs all that flavor. Fresh parsley, scallions and lemon juice finish the dish.

How To Make Ina Garten’s Jambalaya Recipe

Start by browning the sausage in olive oil, then setting it aside. Pat the chicken dry and season it generously. Brown it skin-side down, then flip and brown again before putting it aside with the sausage. Do not drain or rinse the pot. You want the meat drippings still in it for the next part.

Courtesy Angel Albring

Next, add butter to the pot and let it melt, followed by the onion, bell peppers and celery, which cook until softened, about 10 minutes. Tomatoes, jalapeño, garlic, tomato paste and dried spices go in next, followed by white wine to deglaze the pot. Make sure you scrape the sides and bottom to loosen the flavorful bits.

Chicken stock, rice, sausage, chicken and bay leaves are then added to the pot, and everything simmers until the rice is nearly tender, which takes about 20 minutes.

Courtesy Angel Albring

Ina doesn't specify whether you should add just the chicken meat or the bones and all to the pot, but I deboned my chicken before adding it to the pot because I didn't want to deal with the bones.

Shrimp is stirred in during the last five minutes of simmering. Turn off the heat after those five minutes and fluff the rice. Add parsley, scallions and lemon juice, cover and let it steam for 10 minutes. Serve hot with fresh scallions on top.

My Honest Thoughts

Courtesy Angel Albring

As someone who grew up around jambalaya, I was genuinely impressed. The flavors were rich without being heavy, and every component felt like it belonged. The rice was perfectly cooked, and the lemon juice at the end brightened everything in a way I really loved. It made it feel like a dish you can eat any time of year, even during the summer heat.

Is it exactly like a backyard Cajun jambalaya cooked over a flame burner? No. But it isn’t trying to be. This is a refined, comforting Creole-style jambalaya that still respects the soul of the dish. It's more akin to something you'd find in an upscale tourist restaurant, and I love that.

5 Tips for Making This Jambalaya1. Take your time

When you're browning the meat, don't rush things. You want to get some nice color on the sausage and chicken to add flavor to the meat and to also create some fond in the bottom of the pot. Those browned bits are the building blocks of flavor for the whole dish. And, as Ina mentions in the recipe, don't cook the chicken and sausage at the same time because they won't brown properly.

2. Do right by your rice

It's important to use long-grain rice in this recipe because it cooks up light and fluffy. And don't rush the resting time at the end of the recipe, which helps the rice finish cooking evenly.

3. Spice things up

If you like more heat, add extra cayenne or hot sauce at the table rather than potentially overpowering the base dish.

4. Round it out

Ina’s jambalaya is a complete meal on its own, but it pairs well with simple sides like a green salad or crusty bread. And may we suggest some king cake sliders for dessert?

5. Make it last

Leftovers store well in the refrigerator for up to three days and reheat beautifully on the stovetop or in the microwave. Add a splash of stock if the jambalaya is too thick.

The kitchen is widely considered the heart of the home. Everything seems to centralize here, from meals to conversations. Whether you reserve it strictly for whipping up culinary masterpieces or treat it more like a catch-all for nourishment and connection, it makes sense to prioritize organization. Too much clutter can be distracting, but maintaining order by maximizing cabinet space can really ground the room.

Something that combines both shelving and a usable surface area, like the Behost Kitchen Pantry Cabinet, can be invaluable. Brimming with storage on every tier, the farmhouse-style cupboard is an ideal solution for kitchens that need extra room for ingredients, small appliances, and other essentials. Marked down from its usual $220 to just $90 at Walmart, it's an excellent value for such a substantial and attractive piece.

Considering that many standalone pantry cabinets cost several hundred dollars more, this is a rare standout designed with both efficiency and style in mind. It brings instant farmhouse vibes to any kitchen with its warm, earthy brown engineered wood, complete with vintage-style crossbuck doors and a subtly weathered finish.

Up top, the cabinet doors have clear acrylic panels that lend a glass-like effect to the design while allowing you to easily see what's inside. This transparency lightens the structure, giving it a slightly airy and open feel that nicely balances the rustic detailing. It's an ideal spot to keep items you reach for most, like spice jars, baking staples, or glassware.

An open middle shelf adds valuable counter space to your kitchen, well-suited to anything from your toaster to your coffee machine. It also offers you an easy spot to keep items like larger canisters or even cookbooks if you'd like to enhance that cozy, country-kitchen aesthetic even more. It's great for food prep, too!

A spacious lower cabinet gives you even more room to conceal bulkier items, whether a small appliance or a stack of bowls. The expansive spot is especially helpful if you're trying to clear your countertops or just need more room for snacks and other items that may not otherwise have a home.

Adjustable shelves add to its practicality, along with magnetic catches that prevent the doors from staying open. It also comes with a safety anchor that affixes to the wall and keeps the pantry from tipping forward. One shopper praised the overall effect as "cute and simple to assemble," while another added that it's "quite sturdy and looks very nice."

West Wilson Wants To ‘Make Out’ With Ciara Miller — Is a 'Summer House' Love Triangle Brewing? (Exclusive)

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 1:00pm

Summer is about to heat up for Ciara Miller as West Wilson admits he wants to "make out" with her during tonight's episode of Summer House. But with West hoping to restart their romance, could this spark drama with bestie Jesse Solomon, who also seems smitten with Ciara?

Ciara headed into the summer with an open mind and heart after brutally shutting West down last year when he flaked on their romance. In an exclusive clip shared with Parade, West recalls how "last summer Ciara was really, really unhappy with me... and I was afraid to... I didn't want to come off..."

That’s when Kyle Cooke asks West if he wants to rekindle the flame—aka make out—with Ciara. He dramatically pauses before saying, "Um ... sure, yeah, okay. I'll say yeah."

Cue the gales of laughter among the housemates.

The chorus of laughter likely stemmed from how icy last summer was between West and Ciara, but also from witnessing the flirty relationship Ciara and Jesse developed. In the Summer House Season 10 trailer, Jesse asks West, "You don't care if I make out with Ciara, do you?" Stunned, West wonders, "Is that in the works?"

West and Ciara definitely get closer this season as they are seen cuddling in the trailer with Ciara telling West, "I mean, I do miss you." West replies that he misses her too, adding, "How could I not?"

Meanwhile, Jesse and Ciara continue to flirt this season, especially now that Jesse has been made an honorary bedbug. But Jesse insists their relationship doesn't go beyond being “fun and flirty," he told US Weekly. However, Amanda Batula shares that “there’s a lot more to it than what was even touched on in the trailer" about the budding Summer House love triangle.

With West hoping for another chance with Ciara, could it jeopardize his friendship with Jesse? Jesse insists he has “no beef” with West, but viewers have yet to see whether Ciara will truly let him back into her life — or if he’ll escape enemy territory only to land in the friend zone.

Summer House is on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.

This Is the Cheapest Day to Book Travel, According to Expedia

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 12:53pm

According to Expedia's 2026 Air Hacks Report, there's a new standout answer to the age-old question of when is the cheapest day to book travel: Friday is emerging as the most budget-friendly day of the week to both book and fly in 2026.

Expedia's newly released data, which draws on millions of flight data points and consumer trends, shows that shifting travel habits have changed traditional wisdom about airfare pricing. Historically, travel experts often touted mid-week days as the best days to score low fares, based on older patterns of airline pricing and booking behavior. But this year's data indicates that Fridays now offer some of the lowest average ticket prices, especially for flights later in the week when business travel demand drops off and more deals appear for leisure flyers.

Related: The Top No-Fee Travel Credit Card of 2026, According to Motley Fool

"Business travelers head home earlier in the week these days, so new opportunities are opening up for leisure travelers to save by choosing smarter travel days, like Friday for the best prices or Tuesday for fewer crowds," Melanie Fish, head of Expedia Group Brands public relations, said in a press release. "With a year of data from Expedia's Flight Deals now in—which highlights routes and dates priced at least 20 percent lower than the norm—July and October are emerging as two of the best months to travel to secure these high-quality fares."

In short: Airlines adjust prices based on demand, and with fewer corporate travelers booking at the end of the workweek, fare inventories can become more attractive for budget-minded explorers. For example, flights departing on a Friday frequently cost less than those on peak weekend travel days like Sunday. In fact, flying on a Friday instead of Sunday can save up to eight percent.

However, it's worth noting that Friday is the busiest day to travel. Tuesday, on the other hand, is the least busy day of the week to fly, and it's also the cheapest day to fly domestically, averaging 14 percent less than Sunday departures.

The research also doesn't mean that every trip booked on a Friday will automatically be cheaper. Timing still matters. Expedia's analysis suggests that travelers book closer to popular travel windows (but not too far in advance). For domestic economy flights, that means 15 to 30 days prior to departure (which averages $130 less than bookings made more than six months out). For international routes, travelers can save $190, on average, by booking 31 to 45 days ahead of departure. But booking just eight to 15 days ahead of travel can offer the most value, saving last-minute travelers an average of $225.

Considering off-peak months can further amplify savings, as well. For example, August is the most affordable month to travel, with flights 29 percent cheaper on average than in December. And January is the cheapest month to fly domestically, which is largely driven by decreased demand after the holidays.

Outside of flight-day choices, Expedia and travel analysts still recommend flexibility. Using airline alerts and checking multiple departure airports can both trim your travel budget further. But if you're focused purely on when to booktravel, this year's data clearly points to Friday as a smart choice for snagging some of the lowest prices available.

Michelle Obama Reveals Her Favorite 'Real Housewives' Moment —and Her Strong Advice for New Viewers

Tue, 02/17/2026 - 12:52pm

Former First Lady Michelle Obama has some clear advice for anyone new to the Real Housewives universe — don’t jump into a new franchise right away.

“Don't start with a new one... because it takes some time for relationships to cultivate,” Obama said while discussing the shows on her IMO with Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson podcast.

Instead, she recommends immersing yourself in a classic installment like The Real Housewives of New Jersey, specifically the iconic Season 1 table flip by Teresa Giudice.

“But of course, Teresa Giudice's table flip, you know, prostitution whore, you know,” Obama recounted. “Prostitution whore! She flipped the table.” She added, “It was at a nice dinner. There were wine and tablecloths.”

While Obama said she watches multiple versions of the franchise, she noted that New Jersey has faced recent tension behind the scenes.

“New Jersey is going through some stuff right now. Because it wasn't even clear that they were going to film together. Well, because Teresa Giudice and her brother Joe are central, but they haven't been getting along. And it got ugly.”

Obama added that she believes the show is currently in production.

https://youtube.com/shorts/Sovr7sBt5nc?si=W9KAV9UsVLGTHcqm

“It's a good one because the Jersey folks don't play," she said. "So there are a couple of ones from Teresa, who was one of the housewives that actually went to jail.”

Demonstrating her deep knowledge of Housewives history, Obama explained that Teresa and her first husband Joe, served prison sentences for tax fraud and that Joe was later deported to Italy because he was not an American citizen.

“And then when she got out and then she came back on the show ... that's a journey,” Obama said.

For viewers interested in starting the series, Obama suggested jumping in around the period when Teresa went to jail.

“But Teresa's a pill. And there was one time in the reunion when she like almost knocked out Andy Cohen,” she recalled of a chaotic reunion moment involving host Andy Cohen. “She was going after another housewife and he was trying to stop her. This is the host. She takes one arm and just pushes him out of weight. These are little ladies, but she's strong.”
