This Cruise Line’s Pizza Was Just Recognized as Truly Authentic
If you’ve ever gone on a cruise, you know that late-night pizza is a beloved staple for seemingly all passengers. But in most cases, the pizza is not the star of the culinary show–unless you’re on a Princess Cruises ship.
The fleet’s newest ships, Sun Princess and Star Princess, both have pizza available in their main dining eateries as well as through their poolside dining options and OceanNow delivery service. But in addition to those options, guests can enjoy world-class pizza at Alfredo’s Pizzeria, which has recently received a major culinary accolade.

The pizza restaurant, located in the piazza of the ships, has been awarded a prestigious Ospitalità Italiana Certification, the top global recognition for both authentic Italian cuisine and hospitality.
To receive the certification, dining establishments must uphold Italy’s culinary traditions, and Alfredo’s does that with its Neapolitan pizzas made to order. They feature hand-stretched dough and are baked in a stone Moretti Forni oven.

In addition to Alfredo’s, both Star Princess and Sun Princess are home to Sabatini's Italian Trattoria, an Italian speciality restaurant available across the fleet, featuring handcrafted pasta, authentic sauces, and classic charm that celebrates Italy’s culinary traditions.

'Dawson's Creek' Star Remembered for 'Slaying His Own Ego' and Devotion to Family
James Van Der Beek, the actor whose earnest portrayal of Dawson Leery defined a generation of teen drama before he reinvented himself as a sharp comedic talent, has died. He was 48.
Van Der Beek passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 11, at his home in Austin, Tex., surrounded by his family. The cause was colorectal cancer, a diagnosis he first shared publicly in late 2024.
"Our beloved James David Van Der Beek passed peacefully this morning," his wife, Kimberly Van Der Beek, said in the announcement. "He met his final days with courage, faith, and grace."
While the world first fell in love with him as the sensitive, Spielberg-obsessed teenager on Dawson’s Creek, Van Der Beek’s career was defined by a rare ability to evolve. He transitioned from heartthrob to self-aware comedic actor, famously playing a heightened, narcissistic version of himself in the cult hit Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23.
In a 2014 interview with Parade, Van Der Beek opened up about that pivot, describing it as a necessary liberation from his early fame.
"I was lucky enough to step into some crazy fame in my early twenties, and amidst all that craziness, I just laughed at it," Van Der Beek told Parade. He explained that the role allowed him to "just get out and slay my own ego every day and just have some fun doing it."
A Private BattleVan Der Beek’s cancer diagnosis in 2023 came as a shock to the actor, who had no family history of the disease and prioritized his health. Despite the severity of the illness, he approached it with the same introspection he applied to his career.
"I’m very healthy... I tried to eat healthy as much as I could," he shared shortly after going public with the news. Throughout his treatment, he remained an advocate for early screening, using his platform to demystify a disease that is increasingly affecting younger adults.

More Than 'Dawson'Born in Cheshire, Conn., Van Der Beek told Parade he had a "very normal childhood," which drove him to seek out the "abnormal" world of entertainment. He began auditing for theater in New York City at age 15, eventually landing the role that would change his life at 20.
"The next thing I knew we just blew up," he recalled of the Dawson's Creek phenomenon.
However, Van Der Beek never let the "icon" status paralyze him. He showcased his range in films like Varsity Blues and The Rules of Attraction, and later charmed audiences on Dancing with the Stars.
A Family Man FirstDespite his Hollywood success, Van Der Beek made it clear that his most important role was at home. He and Kimberly shared six children: Olivia, Joshua, Annabel, Emilia, Gwendolyn, and Jeremiah.
In his 2014 sit-down with Parade, he joked that his celebrity status held no weight within his own household.
"The kids are less than impressed by any celebrity that I may accrue," he said. "They get excited, but I think they probably think it's just normal and that everybody's dad is on TV."
He described the balance of filming sitcoms like Friends with Better Lives as a blessing because it allowed him to maintain a "home base" and be present for his children—a priority he kept until the very end.
James Van Der Beek is survived by his wife, Kimberly, and their six children.

James Van Der Beek Shared Excitement About His ‘Next Act’ Just Months Before His Death (Exclusive)
James Van Der Beek expressed excitement about his "next act" just six months before his death at the age of 48.
On Wednesday, Feb. 11, the actor's family confirmed he died earlier that morning after battling stage 3 colorectal cancer since 2023.
Six months prior, in an exclusive interview with Parade published in August 2025, the actor shared how his diagnosis reinvigorated his passion for acting after moving to Texas with his wife and six children during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I really let go of any attachments that I had to what it means to be an actor, or what my own version of success is or felt like or needs to be. And I just really felt like, ‘Oh, I could walk away from this,'” Van Der Beek said at the time. “And then when I got cancer and I looked around at the world and where my place is in it and wanting to stay in it, I realized I love to tell stories. I really am so grateful for this opportunity to write and to act.”
“I joked that I’m the only guy who got cancer and said, ‘You know what I’ve realized is I need to work more,'” he added.

Elsewhere in the interview, the Dawson's Creek alum said his diagnosis gave him a newfound appreciation for life.
“And so I’m really looking forward to this next act,” he said.
As for what he wanted his "next act" to look like, Van Der Beek said he was hoping to get back into entertainment, noting he “really, really, really” wanted to do a musical one day.
“I think it’s going to be a combination of things that I write and create and things that I’m just lucky enough to step into and join,” he explained. “I would imagine there’s got to be some comedy in there and hopefully some singing and dancing, too.”
At the time of his death, the actor had one last upcoming role: playing the character Dean Wilson in the highly-anticipated Legally Blonde prequel TV series titled Elle.
According to an article in Variety about his casting last spring, Van Der Beek’s character is “the city’s new Mayoral candidate and current school district superintendent.”
“It was such a gift to get to do such a cool, high-profile project," Van Der Beek said of filming Elle as well as the TV series Overcompensating, which premiered in 2025. “Both were relatively small time commitments, which allowed me to stay with my family, but then I also get to go to set with these genius people and make something really fun.”
Elle has already finished filming season one, and a premiere date is set for July 1 on Prime Video.
Van Der Beek is survived by his wife, Kimberly, and their six children: Olivia, 15; Joshua, 13; Annabel, 12; Emilia, 9; Gwendolyn, 6; and Jeremiah, 4.

Never Rely on This One Factor Alone To Protect You From Cancer, Oncologists Warn
Real talk: The idea of getting cancer is petrifying. More than 2 million people receive a new cancer diagnosis each year, and more than 600,000 die. It would be wonderful if we could all do one thing—the same thing!—to protect ourselves from cancer. Yet, that's not a biological reality.
"Cancer is fundamentally a whole-body problem," explains Dr. Michael Foote, MD, a gastrointestinal medical oncologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. "Cancer happens when a normal cell is injured in a way that damages its DNA, the fundamental blueprint that tells the cell how to work. This leads to abnormal behavior and growth into a tumor."
Dr. Foote notes that many factors can contribute to this abnormal growth and behavior, so it's impossible to focus on one knock-out prevention strategy. Another oncologist agrees.
"Cancer rarely develops from a single cause," states Dr. Kyaw Kyaw Tun, MD, a hematologist/oncologist at Kaiser Permanente Southern California. "Instead, it reflects the combined effects of genetics, aging, environmental exposures and long-term lifestyle habits."
That's why oncologists recommend a holistic approach to reducing cancer risk. There's strength in the number of tools you use.
"No behavior prevents cancer, but several healthy habits together can meaningfully lower risk over time," Dr. Tun adds. "Cancer risk is shaped by patterns of behavior—not by one magic food or supplement."
Therefore, oncologists warn against relying on this one factor alone to protect you from cancer. Instead, they suggest using the strategy alongside several other tried-and-true ways to lower your risk of cancer. Here's what to know.
Oncologists are begging people not to think that a healthy diet alone will prevent cancer. "It is not, unfortunately, sufficient to only stick to healthy eating." Dr. Foote says. "Many non-diet-related factors can cause cell injury and cancer progression."
Indeed, while diet is a great start for reducing cancer risk, it's not the endgame if other aspects of your life need improvement.
"You can eat well and still increase cancer risk if you’re sedentary, chronically sleep-deprived, exposed to tobacco or excess alcohol or missing recommended screenings," says Dr. Shikha Jain, MD, FACP, a triple board-certified hematologist and oncologist and an associate professor at the University of Illinois Cancer Center.
Speaking of screenings, it's worth mentioning that you can check all of the lifestyle boxes and still develop cancer because there are risk factors we cannot control.
"Your family history and genetics can also have a significant impact on your risk of developing certain cancers," Dr. Jain says. "Cancer biology is complex. Diet helps lower risk, but it doesn’t act in isolation, and it doesn’t cancel out other harmful behaviors or your family history."
For this reason, Dr. Tun has significant concerns with putting a nutritious diet on too high a pedestal for cancer prevention.
"Believing diet alone is protective can also create false reassurance and lead people to delay routine cancer screening, which remains one of the most effective ways to reduce cancer deaths," he stresses. "Healthy eating helps—but it does not provide immunity."

5 Other Ways To Lower Your Cancer RiskOne of the reasons why it's hard to recommend one-size-fits-all strategies to prevent cancer is that it requires tons of funding and investment to meet the gold standard for research.
"The absolute best way to study strategies that decrease cancer risk is with a randomized trial, where half of the people get one strategy, the other half get another, and we compare whether one group versus the other has a lower cancer risk over many years," Dr. Foote says.
Plus, he points out that different cancers affect the body differently and have distinct risk factors. "For example, lung cancer is highly associated with smoking, while skin cancer is associated with exposure to the sun and UV radiation. So, a 'one-size-fits-all' strategy is challenging to make for all of us, patients and doctors alike."
Still, doctors and researchers have combined their basic biology knowledge with data from previous cancer patients' risk factors to develop effective ways to build the strongest possible armor against the disease:
Exercise is an overlooked tool for reducing cancer risk. "Exercise reduces cancer risk by improving insulin sensitivity, lowering chronic inflammation, supporting immune surveillance and helping regulate hormones like estrogen," Dr. Jain says. "It’s one of the most consistently protective behaviors across multiple cancer types."
The American Cancer Society suggests getting at least 150 to 300 minutes of moderate-intensity or 75 to 150 minutes of vigorous-intensity activity (or a combo of the two) each week.
No offense to exfoliants and hyaluronic acid, but regular SPF use is the hands-down best thing you can do for your body's largest organ.
"Limiting UV light exposure can prevent skin cancer and melanoma," Dr. Foote says. "As a bonus, avoiding photoaging from the sun supports healthy skin that looks good without wrinkles and blemishes."
If you do one thing to lower your cancer risk, make it avoiding tobacco, using or quitting smoking, if you currently do. "Avoiding tobacco is the most effective lifestyle step for lowering cancer risk," Dr. Tun states. "Smoking is the leading preventable cause of cancer and is strongly linked to lung, throat, bladder and pancreatic cancer, among others."
While we're talking vices, alcohol is another one to limit or eliminate. Previously, there were some thoughts that alcohol, especially red wine, may have some benefits for your overall health. However, we're learning more and more that no amount of alcohol is healthy.
"Alcohol also raises cancer risk, especially for breast, colon, liver and throat cancer and other cancers, and risk increases with greater intake." Dr. Tun reports. "Together, avoiding tobacco and limiting alcohol significantly reduces exposure to known cancer-causing substances."
Dr. Foote shares that viruses, like HPV, HIV and hepatitis, can weaken the immune system, damage our cells, and increase cancer risk. These viruses spread through sexual contact.
"The HPV vaccine has been a remarkable advance to lower the rate of cervical cancer, but safe sex with barrier protection and STD testing before does prevent virus-associated cancers," he explains. "Safe intimacy is healthy. Observational data have shown us that men who ejaculate more have lower risks of prostate cancer."
Dr. Jain adds that the hepatitis B vaccine is another way to lower your chances of developing certain cancers.
Since you can't eliminate all of your chances of getting cancer, you'll want to set yourself up to detect it as early as possible, just in case. Dr. Jain says it's important to stay up to date on cancer screenings, such as colonoscopies and mammograms. You'll start these screenings at a specific age, depending on your risk factors, such as family history.
Related: Oncologists Are Begging People To Take This One Common Cancer Risk Factor Seriously
None of the above means that you should throw out your effort to eat healthy to lower your risk of cancer and other chronic health conditions. "Diet influences cancer risk through inflammation, insulin signaling, the gut microbiome and body weight regulation," Dr. Jain clarifies. "It’s a powerful supporting tool, just not a standalone solution."
She suggests prioritizing foods like:
- Fruits and vegetables (especially fiber-rich and colorful varieties)
- Whole grains and legumes
- Lean proteins (fish and plant proteins)
- Healthy fats (olive oil, nuts and seeds)
And limiting foods like:
- Processed meats
- Ultra-processed foods
- Sugary beverages
- Red meat
And, keep in mind, even consuming an anti-cancer diet is a holistic endeavor. It's all about balance. "Focusing on overall eating patterns, not just individual superfoods, is beneficial," Dr. Tun says.

James Van Der Beek’s Cancer Battle Left His Family ‘Out of Funds’ After His Death
James Van Der Beek’s wife, Kimberly Van Der Beek, and their six kids are under “significant financial strain” after his death.
Shortly after Kimberly, 43, confirmed James died on Wednesday, February 11, following a battle with colorectal cancer, she launched a GoFundMe to raise money for their family.
“James Van Der Beek was a beloved husband, father and friend who touched the lives of everyone around him. After a long and courageous battle with cancer, James passed away on February 11, 2026, leaving behind his devoted wife, Kimberly, and their six wonderful children,” read a statement posted on the fundraiser website. “Throughout his illness, the family faced not only emotional challenges but also significant financial strain as they did everything possible to support James and provide for his care.”
According to the GoFundMe page, James’ family is struggling to make ends meet after his health battle took a toll on their finances.
“In the wake of this loss, Kimberly and the children are facing an uncertain future,” the statement continued. “The costs of James’ medical care and the extended fight against cancer have left the family out of funds. They are working hard to stay in their home and to ensure the children can continue their education and maintain some stability during this incredibly difficult time. The support of friends, family and the wider community will make a world of difference as they navigate the road ahead.”
The statement concluded: “Your generosity will help cover essential living expenses, pay bills and support the children’s education. Every donation, no matter the size, will help Kimberly and her family find hope and security as they rebuild their lives. Thank you for considering a gift to support them.”
The fundraiser—which had an initial goal of $500,000—received immediate support after the link was shared on James’ Instagram Story.
Earlier on Wednesday, James’ family announced his death via Instagram. The Dawson’s Creek alum was 48.
“Our beloved James David Van Der Beek passed peacefully this morning,” the statement read. “He met his final days with courage, faith and grace. There is much to share regarding his wishes, love for humanity and the sacredness of time. Those days will come. For now we ask for peaceful privacy as we grieve our loving husband, father, son, brother and friend.”
James was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in 2023. He publicly revealed his stage 3 diagnosis in November 2024.
Amid his health battle, James was candid about his family’s financial struggles. In September 2025, his Dawson’s Creek co-stars reunited to raise money for Van Der Beek and F Cancer. Two months later, James auctioned off pieces of his career memorabilia, with 100 percent of the proceeds going toward the cost of his cancer fight.
James is survived by Kimberly—whom he married in August 2010—and their six children: Olivia, 15, Joshua, 13, Annabel, 12, Emilia, 9, Gwendolyn, 7, and Jeremiah, 4.

‘Harold and Maude’ Star Bud Cort Dead at 77
Bud Cort, the star of the beloved 1971 cult classic film Harold and Maude, has died at 77, Variety reported.
The film told the story of a suicide-obsessed young man from a wealthy family who meets an elderly Holocaust survivor, played by Ruth Gordon, who teaches him an entirely new perspective on life. Their friendship eventually evolves into a romantic relationship. Set to a mesmerizing soundtrack by Cat Stevens and directed by Hal Ashby, the film went down in history for its hilarious, dark nature and reminder to embrace the beauty of life.
Born Walter Edward Cox in Rye, New York, Cort kicked off his career after he was cast by director Robert Altman in M*A*S*H and Brewster McCloud in 1970. Cort also appeared in Heat, Dogma, and The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou. His television roles included Arrested Development and Ugly Betty.
Memories From FriendsRoslyn Kind, the maternal half-sister of Barbra Streisand, told Variety in a statement that she remembers meeting Cort vividly.
“I was only fourteen when I met Bud at the backstage door at my sister’s play,” Kind shared in a statement. “He was majoring in art at the time in high school. We became close friends who shared our interest in entertainment. When I got married, Bud and our songwriter friend, Bruce Roberts, wrote a special song that was performed at the ceremony. His unique spirit will always be with me.”
The Film Transcends TimeWhile one watch of Harold and Maude makes it clear it's a film straight out of the '70s, the cult classic has remained a coming-of-age film that applies to anyone.
"Harold and Maude is the kind of cinema that draws you in for the storyline and keeps you there for the beating heart," The Guardian wrote during the film's 50th anniversary in 2021. "It’s a film unapologetically of its time – the wardrobe, cinematography, and Cat Stevens soundtrack place it firmly in the 70s – but its themes of joy and redemption resonate now more than ever."

What Was James Van Der Beek's First Acting Role of His Career?
James Van Der Beek has died at the age of 48 after a battle with Stage 3 colorectal cancer. The actor was largely known for his main role in Dawson's Creek as Dawson Leery, but had a few small roles before his small-screen breakthrough.
Before landing the role in the American teen drama in 1998, Van Der Beek made his acting debut in a small character role in the 1993 Nickelodeon sitcom, Clarissa Explains It All. The actor played the role of Paulie in the episode "Alter Ego" when he was roughly 16.
The series was created by Mitchell Kriegman and starred Melissa Joan Hart as a teen breaking the fourth wall, addressing the audience about her daily life. In the episode, Clarissa (Hart) develops a punk rock alter ego and meets a drummer named Paulie. She tries to uncover whether Paulie likes her for who she is or her alter ego, Jade persona.
Hart would go on to publicly reveal that starring opposite Van Der Beek led to her first TV kiss. At the time, she was 17 years old and one year older than Van Der Beek. The actor also posted on Instagram in remembrance of Van Der Beek following the news of his death.

Two years after the Nickelodeon series, Van Der Beek would star in three episodes of the soap opera As the World Turns, which was a sister series to Guiding Light. He played the role of Stephen Anderson, before landing his first big screen role the same year with the coming-of-age comedy Angus.
TMZ first reported the news of Van Der Beek's death, revealing a rep for the Travis County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed the details early morning on Feb. 11. A cause of death has not officially been revealed by the medical examiner or his wife, Kimberly Van Der Beek, who confirmed the actor's death with a statement.
She posted on Instagram saying, "Our beloved James David Van Der Beek passed peacefully this morning. He met his final days with courage, faith, and grace. There is much to share regarding his wishes, love for humanity and the sacredness of time. Those days will come. For now we ask for peaceful privacy as we grieve our loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend."
In late 2024, the actor disclosed that he was fighting with colorectal cancer, after having been diagnosed in 2023.

James Van Der Beek Previously Addressed Noticeable Change in His Appearance Before Death
Just two months before his death, James Van Der Beek opened up about the noticeable change in his appearance.
The beloved Dawson's Creek star died on Wednesday, Feb. 11 after a battle with stage 3 colorectal cancer. He was 48.
During a now-resurfaced interview with Today's Craig Melvin in December 2025, the actor addressed previous fan concern from his video appearance at the Dawson's Creek cast reunion in September, where he appeared visibly thinner than usual.
Due to illness, Van Der Beek wasn't able to attend the event in person, and instead surprised fans by making a virtual appearance, but many viewers were left feeling worried about his condition after seeing him.
However, when talking to Melvin late last year, Van Der Beek—who first received his diagnosis in August 2023—explained that he had been dealing with the stomach bug, and had lost weight due to reasons not necessarily related to his cancer.
"A lot of folks were worried," Melvin pointed out, while Van Der Beek insisted, "I lost so much weight because of the stomach virus."
View this post on Instagram"Not related to the cancer?" Melvin asked, to which the actor said, "No, it was not cancer-related."
"Although, with cancer, everything's like, 'Why don't we supersize that stomach virus.'"
Van Der Beek's interview with Melvin would end up being one of his last. His wife Kimberlyconfirmed his death on Wednesday, noting that her husband "met his final days with courage, faith, and grace."
"For now we ask for peaceful privacy as we grieve our loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend," she added in her post.
In addition to his wife, Van Der Beek is survived by his six children: Olivia, 15, Joshua, 13, Annabel, 12, Emilia, 9, Gwendolyn, 7 and Jeremiah, 4.
