This 1991 TV Moment Made History — Then Quietly Hit a Wall

Sat, 02/07/2026 - 9:22am

On February 7, 1991—35 years ago today—network television crossed a line it had spent decades carefully skirting, and then almost immediately stopped short of going any further.

That night, NBC aired an episode of L.A. Law titled “He’s a Crowd,” which featured what would quickly be labeled the first lesbian kiss on U.S. television. The scene, brief but unmistakably tender, showed attorneys Abby Perkins (Michele Greene) and C.J. Lamb (Amanda Donohoe) sharing an intimate moment outside a restaurant after celebrating a professional victory.

The kiss wasn’t played for shock value. It wasn’t a joke, a dare, or a throwaway gag. And unlike earlier moments sometimes cited as precedents, it was mutual—two characters genuinely drawn to each other, leaning in by choice.

RELATED: The Only Time the Entire ‘Brady Bunch’ Reunited After the Series

That distinction is why the moment landed differently.

Abby had long been established as heterosexual. C.J. would soon be revealed as bisexual, making her the first openly bisexual regular character on a network television series. The episode itself was written by series creator David E. Kelley, whose show had already earned a reputation for tackling controversial social issues.

The reaction was swift but telling. According to Steven Capsuto's book "Alternate Channels: The Uncensored Story of Gay and Lesbian Images on Radio and Television," some advertisers pulled commercials from the broadcast, and NBC received complaints, though far fewer than might have been expected. Network executives acknowledged the pushback while also noting that other sponsors were willing to step in, albeit at reduced rates.

Within the LGBTQ community, the moment resonated far more deeply than its brief screen time suggested. For many viewers, it was the first time they had seen even a fragment of their own experience reflected on one of television’s most prestigious dramas. The scene became a touchstone, replayed and discussed well beyond its original airing, wrote Capsuto in his book.

And yet, despite the attention, the story quietly stalled.

Although later episodes hinted that Abby and C.J.’s relationship might develop, it never truly did. Abby ultimately left the series at the end of the season, and the possibility of a sustained same-sex romance disappeared with her. The kiss remained historic, but isolated.

In the years that followed, television would repeatedly return to the idea of women kissing women—often during ratings sweeps—without committing to long-term storytelling. The pattern became so familiar that it earned its own shorthand: the “lesbian kiss episode.” The moment would appear, generate buzz, and then vanish without consequence.

Even a decade later, writers continued to encounter resistance. Buffy the Vampire Slayer writer Marti Noxon later recalled being told by executives that while audiences might tolerate seeing women kiss once, showing it again implied something deeper, which was unacceptable.

RELATED: ’60s Child Star ‘Absolutely Heartbroken’ Over Distressing News About TV Home Away From Home

"You can show girls kissing once, but you can't show them kissing twice
because the second time, it means that they liked it," said Noxon in a 2002 interview with NPR.

Seen in hindsight, L.A. Law’s 1991 kiss didn’t just make history. It revealed the limits of what network television was willing to allow at the time. Progress, it turned out, could be acknowledged—as long as it didn’t linger.

The moment opened a door. Television simply wasn’t ready to walk through it yet.

A Bakery Favorite at Sam’s Club Has the Sweetest New Flavors

Sat, 02/07/2026 - 9:17am

If you’re planning to host a large gathering, you already know how quickly the costs can add up. Between appetizers, drinks, the main dish, and dessert, even casual get-togethers can become surprisingly expensive. That’s one reason warehouse bakery options continue to hold their appeal. They offer a ready-made dessert that doesn’t require extra prep or a separate trip to a specialty bakery, and their value is often hard to beat.

While seasonal cookie trays are a familiar sight at Sam’s Club, this latest version stands out for its updated lineup. With five brand-new flavors and a price under $20, it has more of a specialty-cookie feel than past assortments.

You can see the party-sized tray up close in a February 3 TikTok from @samsclublovers, which offers a clear look at what’s inside the package.

@samsclublovers

đŸȘ Be on the lookout for this NEW Seasonal Cookie Tray! It comes with 60 cookies in five new flavors - Honey Almond Shortbread, Birthday Cake Shortbread, Chocolate Cherry, Blueberry & Creme, and Salted Caramel Cashew. Perfect for parties and gatherings! 😋 #samsclub #samsclubfinds #cookielover

♬ Ladies Room - Olivia Dean

Instead of classic bakery staples like chocolate chunk and oatmeal raisin, the assortment leans more gourmet in style. The $19.93 tray includes 60 cookies, divided among five new varieties: Honey Almond Shortbread, Birthday Cake Shortbread, Chocolate Cherry, Blueberry & CrÚme, and Salted Caramel Cashew. Visually, the cookies have that soft, bakery-case look that reads as more premium than the price suggests.

Sam’s Club Winter Cookie Assortment

According to Sam’s Club, the Member’s Mark Seasonal Cookie Tray is baked fresh daily in club bakeries and offered for a limited time as part of the retailer’s rotating bakery lineup. The assortment comes packaged in a resealable container designed to help keep the cookies fresh after opening.

Sam’s Club positions trays like this as a ready-to-serve dessert option that requires no prep, which helps explain why they remain a consistent presence in the bakery section year after year. Member’s Mark is Sam’s Club’s private-label brand, created to give members access to everyday products at lower prices while maintaining consistent quality. As with many bakery items, availability can vary by location, and assortments may change throughout the year.

It’s difficult to argue with the value in this cookie tray. And if a few flavors become your favorites, you can store them in an airtight, freezer-safe container and enjoy them even after they’re no longer available in stores.

For anyone who regularly keeps an eye on Sam’s Club bakery updates, this notable upgrade to a familiar staple shows that even long-running favorites can get fun refreshes we didn’t know we needed.

Away Just Launched New Travel Bags in Rich, Mood-Boosting Colors for Winter

Sat, 02/07/2026 - 9:10am

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

By this point in winter, most of us are looking for something to break up the gray—anything slightly more cheerful than another black coat and another dreary commute. A trip helps, obviously. But so does planning one. Sometimes just seeing color—or imagining packing for somewhere else—is enough to shift the mood.

That’s where Away’s latest releases come in. First came the brand’s Valentine’s Day capsule, which introduced brighter, more playful colors across several travel pieces. That launch was followed shortly by a broader refresh of Away’s lightweight Featherlight bags. Together, the drops are a welcome change at a time of year when most things feel stuck on repeat.

Related: Away is Having a Rare Winter Sale With Carry-Ons and Weekender Bags Up to 40% Off

The Valentine’s Day capsule debuted Blush Pink across multiple styles, with Cherry Red accents throughout. The most eye-catching piece is the Bigger Carry-On in Amour ($315), a two-tone hard-shell suitcase with a Blush Pink front and Cherry Red back. It’s bold, bright and distinctive enough to spot instantly on a baggage carousel.

Several soft bags joined the Valentine’s release as well. The Featherlight Duo Crossbody ($58) is compact and flexible, designed to be worn crossbody or carried by hand, with small, discreet pockets for everyday essentials. The Featherlight Overnight Bag ($128) is sized for short trips and overnights, with a wide opening, a padded laptop sleeve and a zip-around bottom compartment that separates shoes or toiletries from the main section.

For travelers who like everything to have its place, the Hanging Travel Vanity ($78) is built for easy setup in shared or unfamiliar bathrooms, with a hook for hanging and multiple interior compartments that keep items visible and contained. The Jewelry Roll ($65) rounds out the capsule with structured storage for necklaces, earrings and rings, designed to prevent tangling whether you’re packing for a trip or organizing at home.

Fan-favorite carry styles—the Large Featherlight Backpack ($118), Large Featherlight Tote ($98), and Featherlight Weekender ($148)—also became available in Blush Pink as part of the Valentine’s Day launch, making coordinated sets an option without feeling overly matched.

Shortly after the Valentine’s capsule dropped, Away refreshed the Featherlight collection itself, adding a new Camel Brown color to select styles and updating the bags’ construction. The refreshed Featherlight pieces feature water-repellent fabric, lighter hardware to reduce overall weight and more intuitive interior layouts based on frequent travel use. Like the Valentine’s styles, they’re fully machine washable—an especially useful detail during winter travel season.

Even if travel plans are still tentative, the timing is right. New colors, lightweight bags and practical updates may not change the weather—but they might make the idea of getting out feel a little closer.

'I Have No Friends': Genevieve Mushaluk is Embracing an Even More Cutthroat Game in 'Survivor 50' (Exclusive)

Sat, 02/07/2026 - 9:00am

In one moving scene towards the end of Survivor 47, Genevieve Mushaluk mused on her father's sentiments from a letter from home, realizing she had no friends on the islands. Unfortunately, she's walking into her second season with the same belief. The 34-year-old is one of only a few cast members not connected to anyone on Season 50, which she fears could make her name easy to throw out early on. But if the lawyer is able to get past the opening arguments of this 26-day trial, she has a real shot at a winning verdict. This time, she's eager to cut people with no remorse — and even has a couple of names top of mind already to, much like her hair between seasons, get the chop.

Read on for my interview with Genevieve, and check in with Parade daily for interviews with this season's contestants and other tidbits. Survivor 50 premieres on Feb. 25 with a three-hour episode on CBS.

Survivor 50 interview with Genevieve Mushaluk

When you and I spoke after your exit in 47, I had asked you the next time you came out, if there was another time, would you be more of Genevieve the player or Genevieve the person? Right? This would this was your entire balance. You had said that you would be fine cutting people now that you understand the inherent emotions in doing so. Do you feel the same thing now? What is your headspace approaching this?
I love that I said that, because now I don't have to contradict myself. Because that is exactly how I feel as I sit here, sweaty, pumped to be talking to you. Everyone here knows the deal, and it's not personal or it shouldn't be. I can't control how they're going to interpret it. But I know, one, I want to connect more with people. And two, yes, it does not feel good to get voted out. But I would rather you get voted out than me get voted out, and I don't feel bad about that fact. No apologies there.

What's interesting about returning player seasons, though, is how much emotion is baked into it. Yes, most people here have been voted off before. But now there may be relationships baked into every move you make. Is that something you've anticipated?
The great thing for me is I have no friends. Not no friends period, but I can see why you might have interpreted it that way. [Laughs.]

Never! You're a queen bee.
[Laughs.] But as I look around, I'm pretty sure it's only me, Jonathan and Chrissy who haven't played with someone else on this cast before. So there's a lot of history with everybody else. And I'm not sure, is it history like it's your best friend, and so you've got their back? Or is it history like it's your ex, and so you've got a score to settle? I don't know. And I'm hoping that just coming in neutral gives me an opportunity to build a positive connection with people. And listen, there may be friendships that are very scary to me. But you can't split the check with your friends.

While you aren't coming in with anyone who played on your season, you're coming in with plenty of people who have watched your season. What do you think your perception is going to be in 50, given what the others saw in 47?
I think people are going to expect me to be pretty standoffish. Listen, you tell me! What is your perception of me? [Laughs.]

I think people watch your arc and may have seen someone who was able to make these impressive moves in the first half of the game, but had to work her way up from the bottom in the second half. And, if she had made it to the end, she most likely would have won. Which is a reputation that can work for or against you in a returning player season.
Yes. Well, thank you! I am hoping as much as 47 is in recent memory, and maybe some of those things about me, 48 is super fresh. Let's focus on 48 because there's three of them, so you don't need to worry about me! Let's talk about the 48ers, because they are so scary. And I am just little old me. I've got no one! I'm a gross, sweaty girl from Canada. I am not someone to be worried about!

You have made the (very healthy) choice to not really be on social media. But do you feel like that might make you less connected to all of these players who are commenting on each other's posts and posting photos with each other?
Yes, it's tough, because — let me be very clear. Every time I go on social media, I put down my phone a long time after I would have intended to put down my phone, conscious of the time I'm spending, and I just feel worse about myself. So I don't like to spend much time on social media.

But now that I'm out here, I am wondering, and I'm a little insecure of, is that gonna work against me? Because people have this ability to connect now. There are good parts to social media, including being able to connect and converse with people who aren't in your immediate vicinity. And if I'm limited to my immediate vicinity, that's the Survivor population in Winnipeg, which is me. And I can't help me much more than one vote! So yeah, I am worried that. Being a private person might not help me out here. But I don't know, every disadvantage has its advantages, sometimes.

Quite literally here. You had a big start to your game early on, taking charge with the Kishan vote. Is that a similar mentality you're going into your second season with?
See, you say I started 47 like that. But you're talking about Episode 4. I mean, I guess one of the great things about being the Purple Princess of 47 is no one knows how I started the game. But no, it was bad. I won't start that way again. But early days is what I'm worried about. Because I think your relationships, your voting blocs, the people who come in with you from your season, that's gonna protect you in the early days. Because if you're someone from 48 or 46 or Heroes vs. Villains, you've got people that played with you, and so maybe I don't say your name to any of those people.

It sort of whittles down the group that you can say without worrying that they've got an advocate amongst the cast. And people can look at me and rightfully guess that I probably don't have a Genevieve advocate out there. So my name is a pretty low-risk name to throw out at the beginning of the game. And so I'm gonna have to get to quick work at making friends and connections, because I think I'm most vulnerable in the beginning of the game. And later in the game, I think those friendships will matter less as it gets a little more cutthroat. But I'm cutthroat from Day 1. Or am I? You don't know.

Related: Meet the Full Cast of Survivor 50

Let's talk about your prep between your two seasons.
No! I was so worried you were gonna ask me about this. No, skip past. The next one.

Genevieve, did you practice firemaking?
I did. I did. I did. I did practice firemaking. That was so many "I did"s, it's probably suspicious I practice firemaking a little bit enough to know that if I had a whole day to practice, I could do it. But, have you played Expedition 33? I didn't play it because, specifically for you, I was like, "I'm not going there again." But I made my husband download it and played it and I watched him.

I meant to not. But it's like, you know, when someone's watching a TV show, and you're like, "I'm not interested." And then you walk by, and you catch like a line of dialogue, and you're like, "Oh, it's interesting." You turn, and then before you know, you're leaning, and before you know it, you're sitting. And before I knew it, there's four hours that I could have been doing something else. That game is amazing. So as soon as I get home, I would highly recommend it. It looks amazing. Shout out to Mark and video games and being unprepared. [Laughs.]

We're gonna play a game called "Friend or Foe." I'm going to give you a name of someone on the cast, and you have to tell me if they're someone you want to work with, or someone you see as an enemy or threat.
Gut instinct. Because I literally have no friends out here. But I don't want to call them all Foes. It's gonna be gut instinct. No one take it personally.

There we go, very lawyerly of you. Let's start with Jenna.
Friend. Good vibes, great vibes. Never spoken a word to her. But great, great vibes.

Colby.
Foe. He's no Jenna. [Laughs.]

[Laughs.] Stephenie.
Friend.

Cirie.
[Pause.] Foe. I can't tell if my like initial impression of vibes is influenced by an intimidation factor. It's probably more me than her, but I'd say Foe.

Ozzy.
Friend. I'm just going off a hunch right now. Let me be clear, this is not from what I've seen. This is in leading up to the game and the exposure that I've had to people. I haven't spoken to them, but it's just the initial vibe of how people present, like nonverbal body language communication, that's what I'm going off of right now. So almost nothing. These are not well-informed opinions! [Laughs.]

Well, how about Coach?
Friend! Him and Jenna, the vibes are so good.

Aubry.
You know what? If you asked me yesterday, I would have said Foe. But today, the vibes are Friend.

What was she doing yesterday that was so different?
[Pauses, then laughs.] I had a good breakfast sandwich this morning, I don't know! I have Friend vibes today.

Genevieve Mushaluk on 'Survivor 50'

Robert Voets/CBS

Chrissy.
Friend. Because I was a Chrissy fan.

Let's get to our David vs. Goliath block here.
All Friends. I have such complicated feelings about Mike being here. I am worried that people are not going to want to vote him out. And I'm worried he's in addition to having the benefits that come with people from your season and being in the community longer, so having the opportunity to make more connections, I'm worried, because of The White Lotus of it all, people are not going to want to vote him out. And I'm like, "Let's then maybe let's get him out extra early! Let's get him out before the game even starts then!" It's not too soon to get rid of someone that no one wants to get rid of.

So Angelina and Christian are both Friends for you?
The only thing that makes me nervous about Angelina is that I'm wearing this beautiful coat. [Laughs.] And I could just hear already. "Genevieve? Genevieve?"

Would you give it to her?
I would, I would! Of course I would. If she asked. I wouldn't offer it. [Pause.] I might. But I would want her to ask me, and then I would give to her.

How about Rick?
Ooh
[Pause.] Friend. I didn't think that I would say Friend. Having watched him, I didn't we would click. But then out here, I'm getting, I'm optimistic that we will click.

Let's get into your fellow new era contestants. Starting with Jonathan.
Well, I hope he's on my tribe! If he's not, how are we ever gonna win? He's huge. In real life, he is huge.

Dee.
Friend. I said I wanted to play like her for Season 47. We get asked who we want to play like. And I gave different answers for every interview, because I'm a driven person. But she was one answer that I gave over and over again.

Yeah, I remember you writing in your bio that you could be "Dee on one day and Sydney on another." How about Emily?
Friend. I've met Emily at one "Rob Has a Podcast" event.

Charlie.
[Pause.] Hmm. My knee-jerk reaction was Friend, but I think Foe.

What made you change your tune?
I don't know. My knee said one thing, and my gut said another. [Laughs.] We'll see. When people open their mouths, then I'll really know. When people cast their votes.

Related: The 50 Best ‘Survivor’ Challenges Ever — According to the People Who Made Them (Exclusive)

Q.
I love chaotic men. So Friend. [Laughs.] Best friend! [Laughs.] Who would be my best friend? Jenna. She doesn't know it. Her vibes are amazing. You'll see, the vibes are amazing.

Tiffany.
Friend, but also foe. Because out of everyone here, I'm most afraid of Tiffany. Tiffany and Joe. Because I think Tiffany and Joe are exactly the type of people who would win a season like this. Because we've got the 49ers, who stand out because we don't know them, right, and they've seen all of us. So there's that. And then you've got sort of these Survivor figureheads larger than life, Cirie, Ozzy, Colby, we'll put on this end of the spectrum. And everyone's gonna be looking at them for other reasons.

So there's people that draw attention. And then there's people in the middle who are capable and clever and strong, but are just sort of in this sweet spot where you might overlook them and find yourself leaving the game before they do. And I think Tiffany and Joe are the type of players who can play with old era, new era, any group of people. And they're going to be difficult to get rid of, and that's why I'm afraid of them.

You spoke about Joe. What are your thoughts on Kamilla?
Friend. She just seems so likable.

Kyle.
Friend. Good vibes. You see why he won. How do I bottle that up? Give me some Kyle vibes!

You mentioned the 49 players before. What's your sense of them as unknown entities?
Well, I saw the trailer. I don't remember if she spoke in it, but he did, because it made a lasting impression on me, the "RizGod." I don't generally get along well with men who add "God" to their name. I mean, I haven't met many who do. [Laughs.] But maybe that's not fair. Because maybe he's gonna fall into this bucket of chaotic men who I find fascinating in a clinical way. [Laughs.] Listen, I'm not standing on a soapbox saying that, so please, don't get me wrong.

Which previous player do you wish were out here on the island with you right now?
Jerri. But it's probably for the best. Because if Jerri was out here, I would just be like, "Oh, sorry, Jeff. Let me interrupt this marooning." Walk over, bend the knee. "I love you."

"JerriGod" is your one exception.
[Laughs.] Women who add God to their name, now them's my people!

They say sometimes when a player returns, they take from the game of the person who won their original season. Is there anything from your "frenemy" Rachel that you're taking from her 47 game into 50?
We were at an event, and another former Survivor player who's not here, sort of described Rachel as someone she felt like she's known her whole life, and me as someone who she would do what I say, because I'm intimidating. And I want to channel more of that. Like you've known me your whole life, safe, warm space to be comfortable. I will still try to turn on the "do what I say" when it comes to Tribal. But I want people to feel comfortable with me and go along with what I want because they want to, not because they're intimidated. I want to be wanted. Don't we all!

Finally, what celebrity or fictional character would you bring out for a Loved Ones visit? Last time, you said Dumbledore. Do you want to double Dumbledore down, or pick somebody else?
No, I don't want to double Dumbledore down. [Laughs.] I want Joy from Inside Out. That's a great movie, too. If you haven't seen it, everybody go watch. Or Amy Poehler. Or Leslie Knope, or any version of her. [Laughs.]

Country Star Sheryl Crow Has a Scathing Message For Donald Trump Over Epstein Files

Sat, 02/07/2026 - 8:36am

Sheryl Crow wants Donald Trump to be "impeached and imprisoned."

In a fiery new message shared on social media this week, the country music singer called for Trump to be held accountable for his association with late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein after the president was mentioned thousands of times in the latest batch of files released by the U.S. Department of Justice.

Taking to her Instagram Stories on Thursday, Feb. 5 to make her thoughts on the subject crystal-clear, Crow wrote: "Those named in the Epstein files in other countries are going down hard for it."

"Not in America," she added. "We're just going to act like it never happened or that it's fake."

— Molly Ploofkins (@Mollyploofkins) February 7, 2026

"Who are we if we do not stand up for children who are knowingly being pedaled to rich leaders all over the world," the 63-year-old musician asked.

Crow went on to insist that Trump, along with anyone else who allegedly "knew" what Epstein was doing and failed to act, deserved to be punished to the fullest extent of the law.

"Trump needs to be impeached and imprisoned along with every other person...Democrat, Republican, American or foreign who knew this was going on and never said anything."

Following the release of over 3 million files this week, Trump claimed that he documents cleared him of any wrongdoing, telling reporters, "I was told by some very important people that not only does it absolve me, it’s the opposite of what people were hoping, you know, the radical left," The Hill reports.

However, Trump is said to be referenced, along with a number of other related words and phrases, over 38,000 times in the files, per the New York Times.

Steven Spielberg and Morgan Freeman Team Up for New Dinosaur Project

Sat, 02/07/2026 - 8:32am

Netflixis set to debut The Dinosaurs, a four-episode documentary series created by Steven Spielberg, on March 6. The series traces the rise and fall of dinosaurs over 150 million years, blending scientific research with cinematic flair. Morgan Freeman narrates, bringing his well-known voice to the ancient world.

The trailer showcases realistic depictions of dinosaurs, produced by Industrial Light & Magic, along with detailed reconstructions of lesser-known species. Freeman’s narration frames these creatures in both scientific and cultural context, helping viewers understand their behavior, adaptations, and ecological roles. Fans on Reddit and other forums have already shared reactions, praising the return of iconic species like T. rex and Stegosaurus while debating the accuracy of some reconstructions.

The Dinosaurs intends to spotlight narrative in order to ground the spectacle. It follows the evolution of early dinosaurs, like Marasuchus and Herrerasaurus, their diversification into numerous ecological roles, and the dramatic extinction events that shaped their world. Episodes highlight the contrast between massive land predators, herbivores, and ocean leviathans such as Pliosaurus and Mosasaurus. Feathered species like Anchiornis illustrate the evolutionary links to modern birds, providing insight into how some dinosaurs survived and evolved.

The series is produced by Spielberg’s Amblin Documentaries and Silverback Films, bringing together talent from acclaimed projects like Life on Our Planet. Experienced producers and directors Dan Tapster, Keith Scholey, and Alastair Fothergill direct the storytelling. Their intent is to balances awe-inspiring visuals with grounded science, making it accessible to viewers of all ages.

Beyond visuals, the show highlights behavioral and environmental context. Scenes depict hunting strategies, migration, nesting, and even interactions between species, creating a sense of a living, breathing ecosystem. Freeman’s narration, as seen in the trailer above, adds information with his trademark gravitas without slowing the pace of the story.

Online discussions reflect excitement and curiosity, with viewers debating scientific choices and speculating on what other species will appear. Clearly hardcore dinosaur fans are watching - and arguing.

'Sauropods in the snow is something I never even knew I needed.' wrote one fan. 'Omg, it's so unexpected!'

'I'd be pretty suspicious of this,' another poster countered. 'Global distribution of sauropod fossils indicates a strong preference for warmer climates with a especially strong susceptibility to minimum temperatures even when compared with contemporaneous theropod and orinthiscian dinosaurs. The published paleoclimate reconstructions for the Yixian Formation do show some evidence of...' It continues, but you get the idea.

While Spielberg's own Jurassic Park set a standard for dino spectacle, The Dinosaurs aims to expand that view, presenting a richer and more nuanced prehistoric world.

How Many Super Bowls Has Travis Kelce Played In?

Travis Kelce has played in five Super Bowls during his 12-year NFL career, all with the Kansas City Chiefs, who drafted him with the 63rd pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. The 10-time Pro Bowler won three titles with the Chiefs—in 2020 (Super Bowl LIV vs. the San Francisco 49ers), 2023 (Super Bowl LVII vs. the Philadelphia Eagles) and 2024 (Super Bowl LVIII vs. the 49ers).

He was also part of the Kansas City team that lost to Tom Brady's Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV in 2021 and Jalen Hurts' Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX in 2025.

How Many Super Bowl Rings Has Travis Kelce Won?

Kelce has won three Super Bowl championships. He claimed his third ring in February 2024 when the Kansas City Chiefs overpowered the San Francisco 49ers in a 25-22 OT win.

Super Bowl LVIII wasn't the first time the Chiefs and 49ers played on the biggest Sunday of them all. Kelce won his first Super Bowl when the Chiefs downed San Francisco 31-20 in Super Bowl LIV in 2020. Kelce made six catches and scored the Chiefs' first of three fourth-quarter touchdowns in the come-from-behind victory.

Kansas City had a chance to repeat in Super Bowl LV the following year. Kelce finished with 133 receiving yards but did not score a touchdown—no one did for KC. Harrison Butker's three field goals accounted for all of the Chiefs' offense in a 31-9 loss to the Tom Brady-led Bucs.

Kelce scored the Chiefs' first touchdown of Super Bowl LVIII in 2023. Despite the touchdown, the Chiefs were in a 24-14 hole against the Eagles at halftime but mounted a second-half comeback, winning on a Butker field goal with eight seconds left. After the game, the Kelce brothers' embrace drew "Awws" from everyone—except maybe sad Eagles fans.

9 Best Cream Blushes, Tested by Celebrity Makeup Artists

Sat, 02/07/2026 - 8:11am

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

If you've been using the same pan of powder blush for years, it might be time for an upgrade. Cream blush is easy to apply, gives you a natural flush of color and it's especially great for people with dry or mature skin, according to the four celebrity makeup artists Parade consulted on the topic.

Michelle Radow is an Emmy-nominated makeup artist who's worked on TV shows like Big Little Lies, The Affair, Sharp Objects and more. Celebrity makeup artist Robin Schoen has worked with A-listers like Kate Winslet, Heidi Klum and Jessica Simpson. Founder of the Jenn of Arch beauty brand, Jenepher Reynolds has worked with Norah Jones, Harry Connick Jr. and more. And Mezhgan Hussainy is a celebrity makeup artist and co-founder and partner of the beauty branding and manufacturing partner Product Society. She's led makeup departments for shows like American Idol, America’s Got Talent, The X Factor and more.

"Cream blush is one of the easiest ways to bring life back into the face," Reynolds says.

And Hussainy explains that the product "is truly for everyone," adding, "I've been reaching for cream blush more and more as I get older, because it gives the skin a healthy, natural glow without looking heavy or overdone."

If you're eager to start your cream blush journey, these nine products (including drugstore, matte and dewy options) are celebrity makeup artist-tested and approved.

What Is Cream Blush?

Instead of powder, cream blush is more like a balm, and has more skin-friendly emollients.

"It's a much more hydrating cheek color," Schoen says. "Unlike powders that can be drying, their creamy texture melts into the skin seamlessly while moisturizing the skin and producing a natural glow."

This type of product can often pull triple duty and be used as a lip, eye and cheek color, she explains.

Top Cream Blushes How To Apply a Cream Blush

"Cream blush is very forgiving, which is part of why I love it," Hussainy tells Parade. She recommends applying it to the apples of your cheeks and blending upward "for a lifted effect."

She adds, "The key is to work in light layers. You can always build, but starting sheer keeps it looking effortless."

And Schoen says you can even tap a bit "onto the bridge of your nose for the most natural result, as this is where we tend to get a little sun-kissed color or a rosy glow." She adds that you can use your fingers to gently warm the product for a blended look "without any harsh edges," or you can also apply the product with a brush.

Radow explains that a damp sponge can do the trick as well.

The Best Brushes for Applying Cream Blush

Radow likes using a brush to apply cream blush as it's "one of the most hygienic options."

She recommends a synthetic brush like the Real Techniques Everything Blending Makeup Brush, The Everything Brush from Jones Road Beauty or the Les Pinceaux De Chanel angled brush.

Schoen suggests the Hourglass No. 15 Blush Brush.

How Long Does Cream Blush Last?

"On its own, cream blush typically lasts four to six hours," says Reynolds. Of course, this depends on your application and skin type. Schoen explains that this product "generally lasts longer on normal-to-dry skin types and maybe a bit less time for oilier skin."

For a longer-lasting effect, Radow recommends setting the blush with a translucent powder or a setting spray.

She adds that she loves the "diffused and soft" finish the product gives. You can get it in five shades and use it on your lips or cheeks.

‘Blue Lagoon’ Star Christopher Atkins Is So Handsome at 64 Sharing Behind-The-Scenes Pics From the Film

Sat, 02/07/2026 - 8:00am

Christopher Atkins is even more handsome these days than he was in the beloved 1980 film The Blue Lagoon.

The former teen heartthrob, 64, starred alongside Brooke Shields in the movie about two teens who were marooned on a tropical island as children, and then grew up and fell in love. Atkins went on to appear on the popular ’80s TV show, Dallas, and even reunited with Shields many years later on her hit NBCsitcom, Suddenly Susan.

These days, Atkins is still known for his dedicated fan base, who loved him in Lagoon and his follow-up roles. Atkins recently took to Instagram to share that he's available to make Cameo videos and revealed some behind-the-scenes photos from his time on the set of the movie, which went down in history as a legendary teen romance.

"I still have some of my old things. This is one of my favorites. Here are some of my old Blue Lagoon pictures that nobody's really ever seen. These are pictures that we took when we were shooting, back in the day," Atkins shared, holding up a board of photographs.

Universal Orlando Park Is Going Cashless – What Guests Should Know

Sat, 02/07/2026 - 8:00am

Parkgoers at Universal’s Volcano Bay will have a very different experience when it comes to making payments at the popular Orlando, Florida water park later this month.

Effective February 25, the park will no longer accept cash payments, only allowing guests to pay via credit or debit card, tap-to-pay methods, with Universal Pay, or with Universal gift cards, reports WDW News Today.

Though cash will no longer be accepted at the water park, visitors who want to pay with cash have an alternate option, as there will be cash-to-card kiosks available that will let guests load their cash onto Visa prepaid cards, reports Inside Universal.

This change comes just months after the park announced that it was ending the TapuTapu wearable and virtual line. This complimentary wristband allowed guests to open rental lockers, access attractions, and join virtual queues, with the wristband vibrating when it was guests’ turn to return.

Additionally, Volcano Bay is slated to close on October 26 for seasonal maintenance, with an opening date on or before March 24, 2027.

Last month, Volcano Bay was closed for several days, including two consecutive days, due to unusually cold temperatures in the area. The park was shuttered on Wednesday, January 28, and Thursday, January 29, “due to inclement weather,” a social media announcement from Universal Orlando revealed.

Though temperatures in the Orlando area were considerably higher than some of the headline-making weather in other parts of the country at the same time, temperatures in the low 50s to 60s Fahrenheit made water activities both uncomfortable for guests and potentially unsafe.

According to the American Heart Association, plunging into cold water under 60 degrees Fahrenheit can cause “cold shock,” which can affect breathing, blood pressure, and heart rate in a potentially dangerous way. It “can cause a person to drown within seconds if they involuntarily gasp while their head is submerged. The shock also places stress on the heart and makes it work harder,” the non-profit organization said in 2022.

Hailee Steinfeld's Super Bowl Plans Revealed—And What She Loves Most About Game Day

Sat, 02/07/2026 - 8:00am

For Hailee Steinfeld, Super Bowl Sunday isn’t about overthinking plans—it’s about enjoying the moment.

Speaking exclusively with Parade, the actress shared how she typically approaches the biggest game of the year, and why the experience itself matters more than any strict tradition. “I love an opportunity to host,” Steinfeld, 29, said. “I love an opportunity to go sit on a couch for a few hours and have somebody else host if that’s the plan.” Either way, she’s content keeping things low-pressure. “We’ll see where we end up this time,” she added.

When it comes to what she’s most excited for, her answer is definitely relatable. “Just excited to watch these commercials, get some good food,” she said. “It’s honestly the best part—the food and the commercials, in my opinion.”

Despite appearing in a Super Bowl commercial herself this year, Steinfeld isn’t planning to spend the night glued to social media. Instead, she’s looking forward to the more personal reactions.

The actress is starring in State Farm’s upcoming Super Bowl spot alongside Keegan-Michael Key and Danny McBride, in a campaign that playfully reimagines Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer.” While the commercial is designed for a massive audience, Steinfeld said she’s most excited to hear from people she knows. “I’m always looking forward to friends who catch it and see it,” she explained. “We’ll be watching it in real time and having them reach out.” For her, that immediate, familiar feedback outweighs scrolling through live commentary as the ad airs.

That easygoing mindset is exactly how the Sinner star has been approaching other parts of life lately, including her beauty routine. During a season that includes awards shows, major projects, and pregnancy with her and husband Josh Allen’s first baby, she’s leaned into simplicity off the carpet. “I love to keep things quick and simple,” she previously shared, calling anything too time-consuming “a no-go.”

Whether she’s watching from a couch or hosting friends, Steinfeld’s Super Bowl plan is simple: good food, good company, and enjoying the moment—commercial breaks included.

Sigourney Weaver Teases ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’ in Heartfelt Note to Fans

Sat, 02/07/2026 - 7:47am

In her long career, Sigourney Weaver has helped shape modern sci-fi, but she’s only now stepping into the 'Star Wars' universe. In a recent note reflecting on her involvement in The Mandalorian & Grogu, the actor explained why the project felt unexpectedly personal and expressed her sincere thanks for the fans around the world who have followed along with her trips into genre film.

In the movie, Weaver plays Colonel Ward, a New Republic authority figure and former Rebel Alliance pilot who sends Din Djarin on a mission to the Outer Rim. While she avoided specific plot details, she emphasized how much she enjoyed stepping into a role defined by experience and leadership, and how grateful she is that she's been involved with science fiction juggernauts like Aliens and Avatar.

Here's what she had to say:

'Over the years, I’ve learned that when you’ve been part of stories people love, those stories never really let go and neither do the imaginations around them. I’ve seen a lot of excitement and speculation lately, and while I’m always touched by it, I wanted to share something that is very real and very close to my heart.'

'This May, I’ll be appearing in The Mandalorian and Grogu, and I’m genuinely thrilled for audiences to finally experience it. Stepping into the Star Wars universe was something I never expected earlier in my career, and yet it felt like the right adventure at exactly the right moment. The film carries a wonderful balance of heart, humor, and danger, the kind of storytelling that reminds us why these worlds endure.'

'What struck me most about this project wasn’t just the scale or the legacy, but the intimacy at its core. At the center of it all is connection, between unlikely allies, across generations, and between duty and compassion. Working alongside such a talented cast and creative team was a joy, and watching Grogu continue to capture hearts is something truly special to witness up close.'

'I remain endlessly grateful for the love that continues to surround Alien, Avatar, and so many other chapters of my life on screen. Those films shaped me, and I carry them with me always. But I also believe deeply in moving forward in embracing new stories, new voices, and new galaxies.'

'Thank you for your curiosity, your passion, and your willingness to come along for the ride, wherever it leads next. I can’t wait to share this journey with you when The Mandalorian and Grogu arrives this May. Love y’all so much.'

Related: 5 'Mandalorian' Episodes to Binge Before the New 'Star Wars' Movie Drops

She mentions Grogu (who many refer to as 'Baby Yoda') in her note, and she's previously said that the character is why she chose to join the film. Why? Because, she says, Grogu is 'a little badass.'

While many do not think of Weaver as a 'genre' actor, she has been an icon in 'geek culture' ever since her appearance in 1979's sci-fi powerhouse Alien. A movie, ironically, that was made possible by the global phenomenon that was 'Star Wars' just two years before.

The Mandalorian & Grogu will be released on May 22, 2026.

I Made Cowboy Butter Ranch Wings and They're the Perfect Game-Day Snack

Sat, 02/07/2026 - 7:33am

Winter, in my humble opinion, is peak snacking season. Between cold weather, shorter days and the steady march toward the Super Bowl, this time of year practically begs for cozy, indulgent food you can eat with your hands. It’s the season of wings, dips, sliders and sauces—the kind of food that lives on coffee tables among friends and disappears before halftime.

Lately, though, there’s been one trending food item I genuinely cannot escape. I haven’t been able to scroll Instagram, TikTok or even Pinterest without seeing cowboy butter and, more specifically, cowboy butter ranch in some form.

When I worked at The Rachael Ray Show, we devoted entire episodes of programming to ranch, so when this viral, buzzier take on the herby dressing popped up on my radar, it only felt fair to give it a proper try. If ranch earned that level of airtime in my past life, I think I'm a decent judge for determining a trendy take on the condiment.

Digging in, I learned that cowboy butter started as a simple compound butter but quickly evolved into a whole universe of recipes thanks to cooks looking for bold flavor without complicated techniques. Today, cowboy butter shows up in the form of steak butter, chicken sauce, seafood dip, seasoning blends, wing sauce and cowboy butter ranch.

My curiosity eventually led me to the creator behind the trend, Amanda Rettke, founder of I Am Homesteader. Rettke didn’t just spark the cowboy butter moment—she’s expanded it into more than 30 original recipes, including the cowboy butter ranch dressing that seems destined for a spot on your Super Bowl Sunday buffet.

Not only did I whip up a batch of my own, but I also baked up some crispy chicken wings for pairing purposes. This tasty test would help me determine if the trendy sauce was worthy of my Super Bowl spread—and yours, too.

What Is Cowboy Butter?

According to Rettke, cowboy butter started as a simple, quick recipe she originally published years back, but it quickly grew into something much bigger. “Cowboy butter started as a flavored compound butter I shared in 2022 to serve with steak, and it quickly took on a life of its own,” she tells Parade.

At its core, cowboy butter is a compound butter infused with garlic, herbs, citrus and spices that delivers bold flavor with very little effort. As Rettke puts it, “The trend comes from home cooks loving something that feels indulgent but is still incredibly versatile and easy.”

What began as a steakhouse-style butter has since evolved into sauces, seasonings, dips and dressings, with Amanda creating more than 30 original cowboy butter recipes over the years. The result is a flavor profile that feels decadent but approachable, fancy without being fussy and endlessly adaptable for everyday home cooking.

What Is Cowboy Butter Ranch?

Cowboy butter ranch is a playful mash-up of two comfort food favorites: classic ranch dressing and the bold, herby, garlicky flavors of cowboy butter. Rettke describes it as “creamy, herby, a little garlicky and [with] just enough kick to make it perfect for wings.”

As someone who loves anything ranch, I was instantly excited to give it a try. It hits that sweet spot of being familiar enough to feel comforting, but different enough to make it intriguing. Rettke says it’s one of those sauces “that people keep dipping into long after the food is gone,” which, now that I've made it, feels very accurate.

Ingredients Needed for Cowboy Butter Ranch

The ingredients for cowboy butter ranch are straightforward yet creative. Fresh herbs, like dill, parsley and chives add brightness, while lemon juice and Dijon mustard bring acidity and balance. A blend of spices (red pepper flakes, cayenne, paprika and onion powder) provides layered flavor and heat, while buttermilk, sour cream and mayonnaise make it cool and creamy. The prize ingredient of the ranch, melted butter, smooths everything out and brings the sauce together.

How To Make Cowboy Butter Ranch Dressing

To make cowboy butter ranch dressing, start by whisking together a classic ranch-style base: mayonnaise, sour cream, buttermilk, Dijon mustard and a squeeze of lemon, until smooth.

Courtesy Jeanette Donnarumma

From there, you build in flavor with plenty of fresh herbs, garlic and warm spices, then slowly drizzle in melted butter while whisking so everything emulsifies into a rich, silky dressing.

Courtesy Jeanette Donnarumma

That final butter addition is what gives the sauce its signature cowboy butter feel, adding depth and a luxurious texture without overpowering the ranch. Once mixed, the dressing can be used right away, but letting it chill for at least an hour allows the herbs and spices bloom and the flavors meld, creating a thicker, more flavorful dip that’s especially good paired with wings.

How To Make Crispy Oven-Baked Wings To Pair with Cowboy Butter Ranch

Courtesy Jeanette Donnarumma

This sauce was made to pair with extra-crispy wings, so I decided it was the perfect excuse to finally try the much-talked-about baking powder method. To make the crispy snack, you need chicken wings, baking powder, salt and black pepper. Add the wings to a large zip-top plastic bag along with the baking powder, salt and pepper, making sure each wing gets evenly coated. The baking powder helps break down the skin and draws out moisture as the wings cook, which is the key to achieving that crackly, golden exterior without deep-frying.

Transfer the coated wings to a wire rack set inside a baking sheet, then into the oven they go. I baked the wings low and slow at first to render the fat, then cranked up the heat at the end, and the results were genuinely impressive. The skin turned deeply crispy, the meat stayed juicy and they actually tasted fried. The wings paired with the rich, creamy cowboy butter ranch were the perfect contrast of hot, crunchy and cool.

Cowboy Butter Ranch: My Honest Thoughts

I absolutely loved the way the wings turned out, and they paired amazingly with the zesty, punchy ranch. What stood out most was the layering of flavor, as nothing felt one-note or overly aggressive.

The fresh herbs add a pop of brightness that keeps everything balanced and prevents the ranch from feeling heavy. The melted butter is what truly pulls it all together, adding a silky, luxurious texture and an extra layer of fat that helps the flavors cling to the wings and linger on your taste buds. The end result feels indulgent and bold yet familiar. It's exactly the kind of craveable, crowd-pleasing snack you want for game day (or any winter gathering).

Beyond wings, this cowboy butter ranch dip is wildly versatile. It's the kind of sauce that accidentally becomes the star of the fridge. My crew loved it as a dipping sauce for chicken nuggets and fries for lunch the next day. It would also be delicious swiped onto sandwiches or wraps or drizzled over roasted veggies or grilled chicken. And, of course, it's a great salad dressing. Basically, once you make it, you’ll start finding excuses to put it on everything.

3 Tips & Tricks for Making Cowboy Butter Ranch Wings1. Try the baking powder method

You truly get that fried wing experience with way less effort (and without actually frying), all thanks to a coating of baking powder. It's a game-day snack game-changer!

2. Prep work matters

Prep all the ingredients for the ranch first—including slicing the garlic and chopping the herbs—so the dip comes together smoothly and quickly.

3. Make the ranch ahead of time, if possible

I tried the dip again the next day, and the flavors had melded beautifully overnight. Letting it chill for at least an hour (or longer) makes a big difference. Bonus: It's one less thing to do on the day of your party.

J. Cole Just Took Over Apple Music Overnight — 8 of the Top 10 Are His

Sat, 02/07/2026 - 7:31am

J. Cole dropped The Fall-Off on Friday, February 6. By Saturday morning, Apple Music looked like it had been hacked — by the 41-year-old Grammy winner himself. Eight of the Top 10 songs in the U.S. were his, turning a normal album release into a full-on chart takeover overnight.

Leading the surge on the streaming platform's U.S. Top Songs chart was “Two Six,” which climbed to No. 1, followed by a tight cluster of The Fall-Off tracks stacked throughout the Top 10. Only two songs broke through the sweep, both from Bad Bunny.

Accompanying the release, Cole — whose real name is Jermaine Cole — shared a personal note explaining just how long The Fall-Off has been in the making.

“For the past 10 years, this album has been hand crafted with one intention: a personal challenge to myself to create my best work,” he wrote on X, adding that the project was about finishing what he “was unable to do” on his first album and something he felt he owed “to hip hop.”

Everything You Need to Know About the Super Bowl Gatorade Shower and How It Started

Sat, 02/07/2026 - 7:30am

Any sports fan could tell you a bit about the Gatorade shower. Or at least, that it’s a thing that happens.

It may seem odd to the casual onlooker: A large cooler full of Gatorade, hoisted over a player or coach—usually an unwitting victim—as a deluge of the colored liquid soaks them from head to toe. It looks wet and uncomfortable, but this tradition is a beloved one that’s been around for decades now.

"It turned into this thing that today, regardless of level of play—youth, high school, college, pro, international, you name it—a big moment, a seminal moment is oftentimes christened with that Gatorade shower," Jeff Kearney, Gatorade's head of global sports marketing, told ESPN.

The Gatorade shower has particular significance at the Super Bowl, where the winning team’s head coach is usually on the receiving end. Here’s a look at how the tradition began and also how it turned into a popular bet to make before the game.

Here's everything you need to know about the Super Bowl Gatorade shower.

How did the Gatorade shower become Super Bowl tradition?

The Gatorade shower tradition can be traced back to the New York Giants. And rather than starting at the Super Bowl, it started after an intense regular season game that may have saved Bill Parcells’ job.

In 1984, Parcells was in his second year as head coach. New York was sporting a not-great, not-awful record of 4-4 as they prepared to face off against division rival Washington. The previous year, the Giants had won only three games; suffice it to say Parcells was feeling the pressure.

In the week leading up to the game, the coach singled out nose tackle Jim Burt, making him do extra drills, telling him how good the Washington center was and even having him punch the padded locker room walls with dumbbells in both hands. Although he was picking on one player, it was a message to the whole roster that they needed to win.

New York ended up blowing past Washington, 37-13, and right after the game ended Burt picked up an orange Gatorade cooler and dumped it over Parcells’ head.

While it started as an act of spite, the Gatorade shower turned into an act of victory and celebration. It followed the Giants all the way to the 1987 Super Bowl, where Parcells was again bathed in orange Gatorade as New York beat Denver to claim the Lombardi Trophy. And it eventually caught on with other teams and became the widespread winning practice it’s known as today.

Can you bet on the Gatorade shower color?

The Gatorade shower color bet falls under the category of a “prop bet,” or proposition bet. This is a bet on a specific occurrence (or non-occurrence) during a game which is not directly tied to the outcome/winner.

An example of a prop bet for Super Bowl LX might be: “Sam Darnold will throw for over 300 yards.” But they can get even more specific. For the truly daring bettor, one might suppose: “Rhamondre Stevenson will score the first touchdown of the game, have at least one 25-yard-plus play and fumble the ball twice.” (Generally, the more outlandish the claim the more money one stands to make.)

Among prop bets, the Gatorade shower color is a popular one. But according to ESPN, it’s only allowed in Illinois, New Jersey and West Virginia, and via offshore books. Sports betting rules can be complicated, and the NFL doesn’t care for this particular bet because someone could leak the Gatorade color ahead of time.

That doesn’t mean fans don’t love to bet on it. Actually, it was among the top 30 Super Bowl prop bets placed on ESPN Bet last year.

"When setting odds for this market, our team looks at a variety of factors, including what color was poured on last year's winning coach, any recent instances of the participating teams doing a Gatorade bath, such as recent Super Bowl appearances or after a conference championship win, and even the color of the team's jerseys," the ESPN Bet trading team explained, as per ESPN.

What will the Gatorade shower color be in Super Bowl LIX?

No one can say with any certainty what the Gatorade shower will look like after this year’s Super Bowl. Some sources have the majority calling orange.

After orange, the next favorite is yellow/green, followed by blue.

The 1980s Sitcom Dad Behind Some of TV’s Most Beloved Theme Songs

Sat, 02/07/2026 - 7:19am

One of the most beloved sitcom dads of the 1980s wrote many of the television theme songs you still know by heart.

Alan Thicke, who played Jason Seaver on Growing Pains, wrote many of the catchiest tunes that peppered the most popular television series of the '70s and '80s. These songs didn’t just open shows; they became part of TV history.

Per Billboard, Thicke, father of entertainer Robin Thicke, wrote one of his very first theme songs for the 1973 game show, The Wizard of Odds. Fun fact: this show was hosted by a pre-JeopardyAlex Trebek.

Thicke also wrote the theme song to the game shows The Joker's Wild, Animal Crack-Ups, Blank Check, and Celebrity Sweepstakes. He penned the original opening for Wheel of Fortune.

Eventually, Thicke transitioned to television theme songs. He wrote the opening to Diff’rent Strokes alongside his wife, Gloria Loring, and Al Burton. The series starred Conrad Bain, Gary Coleman, Todd Bridges, and Dana Plato.

He also penned The Facts of Life theme alongside Loring and Burton, with Loring also performing the vocals. That series starred Charlotte Rae, Lisa Welchel, Kim Fields, Nancy McKeon, and Mindy Cohn.

The multi-hyphenate opened up about his career as a songwriter with over 40 theme songs to his credit in an interview with the AV Club. He said the biggest challenge he faced was to get the point of a show across to viewers in less than 30 seconds.

"You have 24 seconds to do something catchy and memorable and sum up the entire premise of the show in case somebody had never seen it before. You had to do it with an internal rhyme scheme and a perky little ditty," he explained.

"So it was an interesting challenge that way. It varied. I did over 40 themes altogether. Those happen to be two of the most memorable ones and are long-lasting. It would vary. Sometimes it would be brought in at the very last minute, when a show was already completely shot, and the pilot had been edited, and they’d say 'Here, add your 24 seconds.'”

He concluded, "However, there were other instances, and Diff’rent Strokes was one of them, where you got the information, you were included, from day one and page one. I’ve experienced it both ways."

Alan Thicke died on Dec. 13, 2016. He was 69.

Disney Just Filed New Plans for Carousel of Progress—Here’s Why Fans Are Paying Attention

Sat, 02/07/2026 - 7:10am

For generations of Disney fans, Carousel of Progress isn’t just another Tomorrowland attraction. It’s a memory machine—one that many grandparents rode as kids themselves and now share with grandkids, humming along to “A Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow” as the theater slowly turns.

That’s why even a small update tied to the ride tends to get outsized attention. This week, there was one. According to BlogMickey, Walt Disney World has filed a new permit connected to Carousel of Progress at Magic Kingdom, a behind-the-scenes move that suggests long-planned changes to the attraction may finally be moving forward.

The filing itself doesn’t reveal creative details or timelines, but it marks the first concrete development since Disney confirmed last year that a Walt Disney Audio-Animatronic will be added to the attraction’s opening scene—an announcement Parade previously reported following the Destination D23 fan event in August 2025.

At that event, Disney Imagineer Chris Beatty revealed that guests would soon be greeted by Walt Disney himself before the show begins, framing the decades-long story of progress through the eyes of the man who imagined it. Disney emphasized that the heart of the attraction would remain unchanged, even as the introduction is updated for a new generation.

“The introduction of a new Audio-Animatronics figure of Walt Disney in ‘Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress’ marks an exciting milestone in our shared mission to celebrate the story of the man behind the magic and inspire new generations with his innovations and vision for the future,” Kirsten Komoroske, Executive Director of the Walt Disney Family Museum, said at the time.

The new permit, first reported on February 5, was filed by Walt Disney Imagineering and references show-related systems inside the attraction. Disney has not yet announced when work will begin, whether the ride will temporarily close or when guests can expect to see the updated opening scene.

For longtime fans planning multigenerational trips, the excitement comes from seeing a core, signature attraction—one Walt Disney personally shaped—being thoughtfully carried forward. First created for the 1964–65 New York World’s Fair and part of Magic Kingdom since 1975, Carousel of Progress still reflects Walt’s belief in optimism, ingenuity and the hopeful notion that the future is something to look forward to. With this newly filed permit, the attraction appears to be carefully extending that legacy—allowing families who have loved it for decades to experience it in a slightly new way, together.
