Does Nurse Emma Die on 'The Pitt'?

Sat, 03/21/2026 - 3:30am

After The Pitt ended on the worst cliffhanger of its time on air—so far—fans are undeniably restless while waiting for the next episode to see whether or not sweet baby nurse Emma Nolan is okay following a harrowing attack at the hands of a drunk and disoriented patient.

The young woman, who is on her very first day as a registered nurse after her schooling, was attempting to take the man's vitals when he woke up suddenly, demanding to know, "What did you do to me?!" as he pulled her into an unexpected headlock, holding her tightly against his chest with his arm pinned against her neck.

This week's episode ended with a wide shot of her struggling against him, and the preview for next week's episode conveniently fails to show Nurse Emma at all, leaving fans to wonder if she'll survive the assault, or if it'll be too late by the time her colleagues realize what's happening.

Is Emma's Absence From the Trailer a Hint, or a Trick?

Editors were careful to omit Emma's face from the trailer for next week, leaving viewers to wonder what plot twist they may be hiding. Is Emma going to be all right? Is she going to be The Pitt's next fatality in a very Grey's Anatomy-esque twist, or will Nurse Dana come to her rescue in time?

Or, as some suspect, will Emma pull herself out of his grasp and take care of business herself in a surprising show of force?

I hope Dana beats his fucking ass next episode #PittSpoilers #ThePitt https://t.co/1B1SUgqclW

— Jordan. 🩺 (@ChoiceReznikov) March 20, 2026 Fans May Riot if Anything Happens to the New Character

Viewers are gathering the troops in her defense—one is even prepared to hire an Etsy witch to protect the fan-favorite new character—while stressing out over the waiting period to see what comes next.

so i’m just going to be worried about nurse emma for week? right right pic.twitter.com/7kNLzkrpUF

— stef🎱 (@yoyo__master) March 20, 2026

nurse emma pls be okay wthhhh

— bloop (@m4ndsloth) March 20, 2026

Unfortunately, even if Emma pulls through, things look like they're taking a grave turn as multiple members of the hospital's workforce rush to respond to a "Code Hula Hoop" in the room where it happened, while Dana appears to reach her breaking point in the aftermath.

It's unclear what exactly that means, but if their faces are anything to go by, it's certainly nothing good.

1977 Hit Song Was No. 1 49 Years Ago Today

Sat, 03/21/2026 - 1:06am

In 1977, Glen Campbell scored one of the biggest hits of his career when “Southern Nights” climbed to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart in March 1977.

Already a dominant force in country music, Campbell had crossed over to pop success before, but “Southern Nights” marked a rare moment where everything aligned.

Related: Iconic Rock Guitarist, 69, Hospitalized During Global Tour

The song didn’t just top one chart, either. It not only reached No. 1 on the Hot Country Songs chart, but also on the Hot 100 chart and Adult Contemporary chart, making it one of the most successful crossover hits of the decade.

The song was originally written and recorded by Allen Toussaint, who drew inspiration from childhood memories of visiting relatives in rural Louisiana.

When Glen Campbell recorded the song in 1976, he connected with its themes, which echoed his own upbringing in Arkansas. His version featured a more upbeat arrangement and a distinctive guitar part, inspired by Campbell's friend Jerry Reed ("Eastbound and Down"), helping transform the track into a major crossover hit.

Related: Classic Rock Band Announces Final Tour After 54 Years

As noted by music historian Fred Bronson in his book "The Billboard Book of Number One Hits," Toussaint was already a proven hitmaker, responsible for songs like Lee Dorsey’s “Ya Ya” and Labelle’s “Lady Marmalade.” But “Southern Nights” became one of his most enduring compositions thanks to Campbell’s version.

The timing couldn’t have been better. Released in early 1977, the song quickly gained traction across multiple formats. By late April, it had reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Campbell’s second and final chart-topper on that list, the first being the 1975 smash hit "Rhinestone Cowboy."

Related: 1991 Hit Ranked No. 1 ‘Greatest One-Hit Wonder’ of All Time

Its appeal was broad. Country audiences embraced it, pop listeners found it instantly catchy, and adult contemporary radio gave it heavy rotation. That wide reach helped push the single to platinum status in the United States.

“Southern Nights” also had staying power beyond the charts. It was nominated for Song of the Year by the Country Music Association and later found new life through film and pop culture, including a memorable placement in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 decades later.

Nearly half a century on, the song remains one of the defining crossover hits of the 1970s—an easygoing, sun-drenched track that bridged genres and introduced a new audience to one of music’s most versatile performers.

1980 Timeless Classic Written for a Film Hit No. 1 45 Years Ago Today

Sat, 03/21/2026 - 12:52am

45 years ago today, on March 21, 1981, Willie Nelson scored his seventh major country hit with “Angel Flying Too Close To The Ground.” The song, released in 1980, was a featured track for the musical drama, Honeysuckle Rose, which also gave the legendary icon his first leading role, playing the character of Buck Bonham.

RELATED: ’80s No. 1 Hit Ranked Best ‘Country Love Song Duet’ of All Time

Penned and produced solely by Nelson, “Angel Flying Too Close To The Ground” is a poetic, deeply sentimental ballad that reflects on the inevitability of letting go of someone you love. In the song, The Red Headed Stranger, 92, plays a heroic role, portraying a figure who comes to the rescue of a wounded soul that he refers to as an “angel” that fell “too close to the ground.”

If you had not a-fallen, then I would not have found you / Angel flying too close to the ground / And I patched up your broken wing / And hung around a while / Trying to keep your spirits up / And your fever down,” Nelson sings throughout first verse of the emotionally-charged track before heading into the chorus: “I knew someday that you would fly away / For love's the greatest healer to be found / So leave me if you need to, I will still remember / Angel flying too close to the ground.”

The Inspiration Behind the Song Remains Unclear

While the ballad was included in the soundtrack to Honeysuckle Rose, the song’s true inspiration remains something of a mystery. According to American Songwriter, the song may have either been written about Nelson’s ex-wife Connie Koepke or his good friend Charlie Magoo, a Hells Angels biker who passed away in 1971.

“Angel Flying Too Close To The Ground” was one of several tunes Nelson wrote for Honeysuckle Rose as he contributed the entire soundtrack of the same name to the film. Other notable songs from that album, which hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Albums chart, include “On the Road Again,” “Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain,” and “Bloody Mary Morning.”

Though the album has several timeless songs and chart toppers, Nelson previously revealed that “Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground” is one of two songs that he can’t help but get choked up over while playing live.

“Yeah, there are a couple,” Nelson told GQ. “‘Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground’ is one. ‘Always on My Mind’ is another.”

Over the years, “Angel Flying Too Close To The Ground” has become so beloved that it has been covered countless times. Bob Dylan, Chris Stapleton, and Alison Krauss are among the artists who have put their own spin on the country classic.

'The Pitt': What Is EMTALA?

Sat, 03/21/2026 - 12:52am

The Pitt proves time and again that it is dedicated to being as realistic as can be, both in its depictions of symptoms and in its detailing of the impacts of real-world happenings on doctors and patients alike.

On this week's episode, the show tackled a very hot topic when a pair of ICE agents brought in a detainee named Pranita (Ramona DuBarry), who was diagnosed with a torn rotator cuff after she was “shoved down some alley stairs” in the chaos of an immigration raid at the restaurant where she works.

Related: 'The Pitt': What Is a Code Hula Hoop?

New nurse Emma Nolan seemed surprised to hear that the hospital would treat her if she was undocumented, and Nurse Dana quickly educated her: “All patients, regardless of immigration status, have the right to emergency care under EMTALA.”

EMTALA exists to protect the public's right to medical care, but what exactly is EMTALA?

What Is EMTALA?

EMTALA is the abbreviation for the Emergency Medical Treatment & Labor Act, enacted in 1986 to ensure that everybody would have access to emergency medical treatment even if they did not have the money to pay for their services.

What Does EMTALA Enforce?

The law requires hospitals to provide every person who comes in with a complaint with a medical screening examination (MSE), according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. If the patient's condition calls for it, the hospital must provide stabilizing treatment, or transfer them to an appropriate facility if they are not capable of doing so.

Essentially, nobody can be denied an examination and/or life-saving interventions—even if they’re uninsured, even if they don’t have the money to pay out of pocket, and even if they are not a U.S. citizen.

What Happens if a Hospital Violates EMTALA?

According to the American College of Emergency Physicians, hospitals or providers who violate the act can face fines up to $119,942. Hospitals and providers may also be excluded from participating in Medicare or other state health programs as a result of a violation.

Plus, individuals who face direct harm as a result of the hospital's failure to treat them can, of course, file civil lawsuits against the facility or provider.

EMTALA exists to ensure that nobody is turned away from receiving life-saving medical intervention for any reason—especially because they can't afford it.

1966 Hit Named Best Song From ‘One of the Most Influential Bands’ of All Time

Fri, 03/20/2026 - 11:02pm

The Byrds, known for their expert way of blending folk, psychedelic, and country rock to transcendent effect, were a trailblazing sound of 1960s rock. From “So You Want to Be a Rock ‘n’ Roll Star” to “Mr. Tambourine Man,” the band achieved chart success and helped redefine the sound of an entire generation.

Uncut magazine, purveyors of music journalism, compiled a list of the “Byrds’ 20 Best Songs,” and let’s just say, the list soars.

View this post on Instagram

Encompassing "Ballad of Easy Rider,”“My Back Pages," and “I’ll Feel a Whole Lot Better,” the publication recruited Byrds frontman and leader Roger McGuinn, along with several other “famous fans,” to offer their thoughts on the greatest musical contributions from the genre-defying, experimental band.

“Looking back, you can see there were several main stages of Byrds music,” McGuinn says. “We started out with the folky thing, mixing Dylan and Pete Seeger with The Beatles, then we dabbled in a bit of jazz fusion with ‘Eight Miles High,’ which was misconstrued as psychedelic. It wasn’t meant to be, but it was branded that way. Then we did things that were purposefully psychedelic, like ‘Artificial Energy,’ and then we got into country with Sweetheart of the Rodeo.

The Byrds' Best Song of All Time

Topping the list of the best Byrds songs? “Eight Miles High.”

Off The Byrds’ Fifth Dimension album released July 1966, the song hit No. 14 on the U.S. chart and No. 24 in the U.K. But that doesn’t mean the single, released months earlier in March, is not No. 1 worthy.

“A daring ascent into raga-rock, fusing modal jazz, Indian music, and nascent psychedelia,” Uncut writes. “Sounds as timeless and progressive today as it did in 1966.”

McGuinn adds, “‘Eight Miles High’ is out there. It’s spatial. I was trying to emulate [John] Coltrane’s saxophone with my Rickenbacker. It’s got a lot of what Coltrane was going for on ‘India,’ which was to capture the elephants in India with his wails, and there’s that tabla beat. He was trying to incorporate Indian music into jazz, and we were trying to incorporate his attempts to do that into a rock ’n’ roll song. So there’s a lot of things going on.”

Inspiration for 'Eight Miles High'

Written by McGuinn, David Crosby, and Gene Clark, the song kind of borrowed its title from a hit by The Beatles.

“[Gene] didn’t like the number seven, because the Beatles had ‘Eight Days a Week’ out and he thought that was much cooler. So we changed it to ‘Eight Miles High,’ even though commercial airliners didn’t go to 42,000 feet," McGuinn says.

He adds, “The Gavin Report came out with a tip sheet for radio and they banned the record because they thought it was a flagrant drug ad. Some of the band still like to pretend that it is.”

“Eight Miles High” peaked on the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 14. Often considered the first psychedelic rock song, it was stunted on the charts due to radio bans in the U.S. Didn’t matter that the band confirmed the song was about a flight they took to London.

The Byrds' First No. 1 Hit

Formed in 1964 in Los Angeles, The Byrds first hit No. 1 on the Billboard chart with their cover of “Mr. Tambourine Man,” a song written by Bob Dylan. On May 15, 1965, the track entered the charts and hit the top six weeks later.

“The song’s success made The Byrds one of the most influential bands in folk rock,” Billboard writes, “thanks largely to then-22-year-old frontman Roger McGuinn’s jangly 12-string Rickenbacker guitar virtuosity, which inspired Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, R.E.M.’s Peter Buck and Mumford & Sons, among other contemporary acts.”

“Eight Miles High” -- and The Byrds -- continue to soar 60 years later.

Donald Trump's Reacts to Chuck Norris' Death

"I thought he was a great guy. Wow," Trump, 79, said with surprise after he was told the news by reporters on Friday. "He was a great guy. He was a really good tough cookie."

Going on to further memorialize the late action star and martial artist, the president said, "You didn't want to fight him...He was a tough, great guy."

"He was a great supporter," he added of Norris, a lifelong Republican who had previously expressed his support for Trump during more than one of his presidential election campaigns.

"Wow, that's too bad," Trump repeated in the video taken on Friday, while asking the reporter to send Norris' family his "highest respects."

— CSPAN (@cspan) March 20, 2026 Was Chuck Norris a Trump Supporter?

In 2016, Norris publicly endorsed Trump during his first presidential election, before backing Trump again in 2020 when he ran for reelection.

Norris also appeared to be optimistic about the Trump administration at the start of Trump's second term in office, writing in a January 2025 column that Trump had assembled an "amazing league of Cabinet leaders."

"Amazingly, Trump has stayed strong and continues to fight (fight, fight) to make America great again," Norris wrote at the time. "Now, it's our turn to do our best to support and pray for him...[so] America can finally experience a stronger economy, a secure border, lower crime and a better international position in the world."

Despite internet rumors of Norris having been photographed at the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol in 2021, a representative for the actor later shut down the speculation, confirming that Norris was not present at the insurrection in D.C., and was instead on his Texas ranch with his family.

Reyes’ final appearance is set to air Thursday, March 26, 2026. According to official show spoilers, Ari will share good news with Liam Selejko (Hank Northrop).

News of Reyes’ exit was previously confirmed by the show’s co-head writers, Paula Cwikly and Jeanne Marie Ford, in an interview with TV Insider’s Stephanie Sloane. The writers revealed, “There is also a new actress taking over the role of Ari in April.”

Ari is a legacy character on Days of Our Lives. She is the daughter of Will Horton (Chandler Massey) and Gabi Hernandez (Cherie Jimenez), and was born on-screen on May 22, 2013. Over the years, Ari has been a part of several dramatic storylines, including family tragedies and shifting parental dynamics involving figures like Nick Fallon, Stefan DiMera, Li Shin, and Sonny Kirakis.

Despite these challenges, Ari has maintained a close relationship with her father Will, his husband Sonny, and her mother Gabi. Prior to returning to Salem, she lived in Arizona with Will and Sonny.

During Reyes time in the role, Ari returned to Salem and celebrated her 18thbirthday. She was briefly involved romantically with Doug Williams III (Peyton Meyer), developed a close friendship with Holly Jonas (Ashley Puzemis), and more recently formed a romantic connection with Liam Selejko.

Following the confirmation of the news, fans took to social media to share their disappointment with Reyes’ exit.

One fan wrote on X (Formerly Twitter), “So bummed to be losing her. Too many recasts in such a short periods of time.”

A second fan echoed this critique writing, “Another wasted of time for an under developed character and talented actress that got nothing to do.”

With a third fan sharing, “That sucks I like her.”

While no official confirmation has been made as to who will assume the role of Ari Horton, fans have spotted a few potential options having attended private cast events.

The ‘Buffy’ Moments Nicholas Brendon Loved Most

Fri, 03/20/2026 - 10:31pm

Actor Nicholas Brendon has died at the age of 57, per The Hollywood Reporter. Brendon famously played Buffy Summers' (Sarah Michelle Gellar) close friend, Xander, in the hit WB series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which had a seven-season run until 2003.

Brendon shared his favorite moments from the supernatural show during a 2003 fan panel. The actor explained he had a fondness for the first season, which premiered in 1997, because he and his castmates could enjoy filming the show without any outside pressure.

"That first season, we were all still kids. The celebrity thing wasn't blowing up in our faces yet. We were just having a great time you know and then you know the show got picked up and it's like, 'Whoa, you know, where's this going to go?'" said Brendon on the panel.

Brendon also revealed that his favorite Buffy the Vampire episodes included Season 1, Episode 6 ("The Pack"), Season 4, Episode 10 ("Hush"), Season 4, Episode 22 ("Restless"), and the show's infamous musical moment, Season 6, Episode 7 ("Once More With Feeling").

Nicholas Brendon Said He Felt 'Honored' That 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' Helped Fans at 'Their Lowest'

Brendon shared similar comments about Buffy the Vampire Slayer in a 2015 interview for KLZ Events. He said the show's first season "was really magical," especially "stepping on the set for the first time" and "shooting the pilot."

"The first season was just like 'Wow, what's going on?' It was really, really lovely," said Brendon.

In addition, Brendon shared that he appreciates Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans who have found comfort in the show during difficult times.

"It helps people when they're in their lowest and it's nice because we've all been there. And I feel honored that I was a part of helping pick them up. And giving them hope. Because life can be tough sometimes," said Brendon in the 2015 interview.

Iconic '80s Rocker Reveals Harsh Details on Health Amid 2026 Tour

Fri, 03/20/2026 - 10:28pm

Legendary thrash metal icon Dave Mustaine is opening up about one of the darkest chapters of his life, sharing painful details about his cancer battle as he prepares for a major farewell era with Megadeth in 2026.

In a recent Instagram post teasing his upcoming memoir “In My Darkest Hour,” Mustaine revealed that his fight with cancer was not just a medical journey, but a deeply personal struggle to survive and continue making music.

“My new book… releases on September 8th. One of most harrowing experiences of my adult life has been my seven-year journey through cancer treatment and onward into remission,” Mustaine shared. “This was a journey of me saving myself, staying alive, keeping my family together, and continuing to make music through it all.”

The upcoming autobiography will give fans an unfiltered look into Mustaine’s battle with squamous cell carcinoma, which was diagnosed in 2019 at the back of his tongue. The condition forced the singer into intense rounds of chemotherapy and radiation, treatments that nearly cost him his voice and career.

In a newly released video teaser, Mustaine admitted he had long kept the most difficult parts of his treatment private.

View this post on Instagram

“This is the one area that I’ve been just completely walled off from any of the procedure or details being shared with our fan base,” he said. “Not that anybody wants to know what it was like to have my head fried like an egg getting all the radiation… but some people do.”

Despite the pain, the rocker explained why he is now ready to share his story publicly.

“They get strength from the accomplishments of others,” Mustaine added. “I love being able to use the things that I’ve done and that I’ve overcome… to show them you could do this too.”

Mustaine’s health revelations come at a time when Megadeth is entering its final chapter. The band recently released what is expected to be its last album and has begun a global farewell tour that could last several years.

Behind the scenes, however, the physical toll has been mounting. Mustaine has dealt not only with cancer recovery but also long-term issues like arthritis, nerve damage and lingering effects from past injuries. These challenges have made performing increasingly difficult.

Still, during his cancer treatment, Mustaine pushed through extreme conditions, sometimes going straight from radiation sessions to the studio. He recalled moments when he would play, step outside to vomit, then return to continue recording.

That relentless drive led to the creation of “The Sick, the Dying… and the Dead!” in 2022.

Now in remission for several years, Mustaine says the experience has permanently changed his outlook. His memoir will explore not just the treatments, but also the emotional weight of confronting mortality and the strength he found in family, faith and music.

As Megadeth continues its farewell run, Mustaine appears focused on finishing strong while finally telling the story he once kept hidden.

Lush Is Taking on Dry, Sensitive and Mature Skin With New Balm Cleansers

Fri, 03/20/2026 - 10:25pm

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

I've been on a mission to find a cleanser that actually feels good to use at the end of the day—something that melts everything off without leaving my skin tight or irritated. Because let's be honest, not all cleansers are created equal. Some feel like they strip your face completely, while others just don't quite get the job done. But there's one type of cleanser that does both, and Lush just launched new versions.

If you've never tried a balm cleanser before, think of it as the ultimate "take the day off" moment. These formulas are thicker and more waxy than your typical gel or foam cleanser, almost like a soft balm that melts into the skin. Instead of lathering, they dissolve makeup, sunscreen and daily buildup while helping maintain your skin barrier. That makes them especially appealing for dry, sensitive or mature skin—but even oily or breakout-prone types can benefit from the right formula.

Lush recently launched four new balm cleansers designed for different skin needs. The new lineup focuses on gentle, effective cleansing without stripping or overstimulating the skin.

Four New Cleansers

There's an ultra-gentle oat-based balm designed to calm redness and soothe sensitive skin.

For those dealing with dryness or a compromised skin barrier, a richer blend of honey, beeswax and almond oil helps lock in moisture while melting away makeup.

If your skin leans more breakout-prone or hormonal, there's a lighter oil-based option featuring acai and sacha inchi oils. It's designed to clarify without clogging pores or leaving behind a heavy residue—a common concern with richer cleansers. In fact, some early users say it's surprisingly effective for acne-prone skin, with one reviewer noting their breakouts visibly improved overnight while still leaving skin looking dewy and balanced.

And for mature skin, or anyone looking for a glow boost, a turmeric and argan oil formula delivers hydration while helping improve the look of radiance and texture.

Balm Cleansers Are Great for Sensitive Skin

What makes these stand out is their focus on balance. Over-cleansing can damage the skin barrier, leading to irritation, dryness and even more breakouts over time. Balm cleansers work differently by lifting away impurities while leaving behind a soft, conditioned feel. It's a slower, more intentional approach to skincare.

At $23 each, these new additions make it easier to find a balm cleanser that actually matches your skin type, rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.
