1976 Ultra Classic Was a No. 1 Hit 50 Years Ago Today
On March 18, 1976, Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons reached the top of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 with their timeless hit, "December, 1963 (Oh, What a Night)."
Half a century later, the song still holds a unique place in music history as the only track to give the band No. 1 hits before, during, and after The Beatles’ era of dominance.
The New Jersey rock group, formed in 1960, had already scored several chart-toppers in the early 1960s, including “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry” and “Walk Like a Man,” per History.
They later achieved another No. 1 with “Rag Doll” in 1964, during the height of Beatlemania. Then, more than a decade later, “December, 1963 (Oh, What a Night)” became the band’s fifth and final U.S. No. 1, topping charts also in Canada, South Africa and the United Kingdom.
The Four Season group members Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito, Frankie Valli and Nick Massi posed for photo.Unlike many of the Four Seasons’ hits, this song did not feature Frankie Valli’s iconic falsetto as the primary lead. Instead, drummer Gerry Polci sang the verses, Valli contributed to the bridge sections and backing vocals and bassist Don Ciccone delivered the soaring falsetto line that fans still sing along to:
"And I felt a rush like a rolling ball of thunder / Spinning my head around and taking my body under."
The change in lead vocals came after Warner Bros. suggested giving Polci and Ciccone more spotlight to differentiate the group from Valli’s solo work. This bold move paid off, helping the band remain relevant and fresh during the mid-1970s disco era.
Interestingly, the song almost wasn’t set in 1963 at all. According to Stereogum, co-writer Bob Gaudio revealed that the track’s original lyrics were written to celebrate the repeal of Prohibition in 1933 under the title “December 5th, 1933.”
The band liked the groove but not the lyrics, so Judy Parker, Gaudio’s future wife, rewrote them as a nostalgic love story about a first romantic encounter. Parker’s approach kept the song family-friendly, aligning with the Four Seasons’ clean-cut image.
The track was part of their 1975 album Who Loves You, which became a surprise commercial success. Billboard praised the single for having “the flavor and fun of ’60s rock with a disco feel” while Cash Box highlighted its “unforgettable bass line” and sing-along quality.
Upon release, “December, 1963 (Oh, What a Night)” topped the UK Singles Chart on February 21, 1976, and repeated the feat in the U.S. by March 13, holding the No. 1 spot for three weeks. Beyond North America, it reached No. 2 in New Zealand, No. 3 in Australia, Belgium and the Netherlands.
Legacy of the Four SeasonsFormed in Newark, New Jersey in 1960, the Four Seasons are among the best-selling musical groups of all time, with an estimated 100 million records sold worldwide. Their original lineup, including Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990. Valli received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2025, the only Grammy honor for the group.
Even today, decades after their chart-topping days, the Four Seasons continue to tour. According to Detroit Free Press, Valli’s farewell tour includes stops in Detroit, Indiana, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts.

Who Is Joseph Duggar’s Wife? What to Know About Kendra Caldwell and Their 4 Kids After His Arrest
The Duggar family has been in the media spotlight ever since their reality show 19 Kids and Counting premiered on TLC back in 2008 and that scrutiny will certainly continue with the recent news that Joseph Duggar has been arrested for child molestation. According to Florida news outlet WJHG 7, the 31-year-old former TV star was arrested and charged on March 18 with Lewd and Lascivious Behavior, involving unlawful sexual activity with a minor. The incident reportedly took place in 2020 during a family vacation in Panama City Beach, Florida; the alleged victim was only nine years old.
It's just the latest scandal for the larger Duggar clan, which is helmed by parents Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar — Joseph's older brother Joshua Duggar was previously the subject of his own child molestation allegations, including several of his own sisters (Jill, Jessa, Jinger, and Jana), as well as an Ashley Madison data breach. Those scandals had ripple effects throughout the Duggar family, leading to the cancellation of their two TLC reality series, and it's no doubt that Joseph's actions will be similarly burdensome for his wife and young kids.
With that in mind, here's what we know about Joseph Duggar's wife Kendra Caldwell and their four children.
Who is Joseph Duggar’s wife, Kendra Caldwell?Joseph Duggar has been married to wife Kendra Caldwell since September 8, 2017; they wed at First Baptist Church in Siloam Springs, Arkansas when the pair was 23 years old and 19 years old, respectively. “It is an amazing feeling to be husband and wife,” the young groom said at the time, per PEOPLE. “It’s something that I’ve always dreamed of to have a wife and to raise a family in a way that honors the lord. We are very excited to see what God has in the future for us.”
Kendra is the daughter of Paul Caldwell, a Baptist pastor, and Christina Caldwell. She was raised in a conservative and strictly religious household in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and was homeschooled, graduating in 2016.

The former proposed on May 26, 2017, at his sisterJoy-Anna Duggar's wedding reception, as shown during an episode of the family's reality show Counting On — during the customary bouquet toss, the blooms were pointedly given to Kendra, signifying that she would be next in line to get married. Her future husband got down on one knee then and there.
How did Joseph Duggar and Kendra Caldwell meet?Joseph and Kendra Duggar first met while attending the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Fayetteville, Arkansas; Kendra's father was the pastor there and the Duggar family were patrons. The young Duggar reportedly asked Mr. Caldwell for permission to court his daughter; he later presented Kendra with a promise ring, per PEOPLE.
“I’ve known Kendra for about five years now and we met at their church. We’ve been talking for close to six months. I guess we would call it more of a friendship stage,” Joseph said of their first date, which was detailed in the season three premiere of Counting On. “Our plan is to go to the car auction and use this as a decoy so she won’t catch on to what we’re actually planning on doing.”
“Once we’re finished up with the auction, I’m going to take her to the house where I was actually born. It’s kind of on the way home, and then I’ll pop the question to her and ask her if she’ll start a courtship with me,” Duggar explained. “It’ll show her where I started my life and then maybe we’ll be able to start a new portion of life with her there.”

Bravo Just Shelved a Popular Show — and Fans Are Concerned
What's your favorite Real Housewives ensemble?
If it's the gang from Florida, fans were in for a shocker on Wednesday, March 18. Variety reports that Bravo has put a pause on The Real Housewives of Miami after weeks of rumors.
The reality show's seventh season came to an end in October 2025 and is cherished by Bravo die-hards but, as Variety noted this week, was ultimately the least-watched series among the Real Housewives franchise.
Fan accounts have already taken to social media to spread the news about the recent shelving of Miami, with @thebravoguru even weighing in their post's caption that "the revived series shimmered with great storylines, funny reads, and dynamic friendships. I truly feel that moving the series back on to Bravo is what sealed its fate."
View this post on InstagramAnd the comments left on the post above indicate that many of the show's other fans are certainly disappointed as well. "Put RHOBH on pause. Not Miami," wrote one Instagram user, while another person commented, "oh this is TERRIBLE news… these women deserve better!!"
In the comments section of a similar post by @therealhousewiveszone that revealed the news, fans also didn't hold back in expressing their reactions. "Does no one have taste!???" one person commented, while another Instagram user wrote, "This is crazy. RHOM is ten times more interesting and fun that RHOBH but yet producers just have let it skate by for season after season. Don’t get me wrong. I love BH (more like Encino and the valley ha ha I see them all over my neighborhood! ) but it’s stale. This is just [sad]. Miami is great!"
The Real Housewives of Miami is known for featuring a mostly Latina cast, as well as Bravo’s first fully out LGBTQ cast member in Julia Lemigova, who is married to tennis star Martina Navratilova.

Beloved '90s Actor, Who Became a TV Villain, Turns 64
Birthday wishes are in order for actor Thomas Ian Griffith.
Griffith, who first rose to fame in the 1990s, turned 64 on Wednesday. While longtime fans remember him from his early film roles, a new generation has come to know him as the unforgettable villain Terry Silver on the hit series Cobra Kai.
Griffith originally introduced the character of Terry Silver in The Karate Kid Part III, where his over-the-top performance and ruthless energy made him one of the franchise’s most memorable antagonists. Decades later, he reprised the role in Cobra Kai, bringing a more layered and complex version of the character to life.
"Karate Kid [Part III] is by no means a great film, but I’m so proud of my work because even back then, the idea was just to be brave enough not to hold back," Griffith told Vulture. "John Avildsen took a chance on an unknown actor and just kept giving me free rein to say, 'Bring all those things you do, that glee.' I think he really tapped into that."
On the series, Silver evolves from a manipulative businessman into a full-fledged power player within the world of karate, delivering some of the show's most intense and dramatic moments. His return quickly became a standout for fans, with many praising Griffith for seamlessly stepping back into the role after so many years.
"Karate Kid III was my first film, so it was always such a part of me," Griffith said. "But I had no interest in repeating anything I’d done in the past, so it was really refreshing to hear I could take this archetypal villain from the '80s and show some different colors."
Before his resurgence on Cobra Kai, Griffith built a steady career in film and television throughout the '90s, appearing in action and drama projects and even working behind the scenes as a writer and producer alongside his wife, Mary Page Keller.
His return as Terry Silver marked a major comeback moment, reintroducing him to audiences and proving the lasting impact of his original performance.
As Thomas Ian Griffith turns 64, his resume and legacy continue to grow thanks to a villain fans love to hate and a career that has come full circle.

These U.S. Airports Have the Worst TSA Lines Right Now—Is Yours One of Them?
Lawmakers failed to come to a funding agreement at the end of January, prompting a partial government shutdown that eliminated funding to the agency that runs the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). As a result, travelers across the country reported airport delays, as they stood in long lines waiting to get through security checkpoints.
Now, with no end to the partial shutdown in sight, and many travelers trying to head out for their spring travel plans, people are searching for ways to get through TSA checkpoints faster so they can avoid missing their flights. And while there are some tricks people can use to make things move a little faster, many may find that their best best is avoiding traveling out of the airports that have the longest lines. So, which ones are those? Keep reading as we share what people are saying about their experiences right now.
@cbseveningnewsAirport delays are worsening as the partial government shutdown drags on, with thousands of TSA agents working without pay and calling out sick. The staffing shortages are leading to long security lines and raising concerns about travel during the busy spring break season. #travel #airport #traveltok #aviation #airline #TSA
♬ original sound - CBSEveningNews - CBSEveningNews Call Outs Are Causing Longer LinesStaffing issues appear to be at the forefront of the issue with TSA delays, with Business Insider reporting that callouts are one of the major reasons why certain airports are seeing longer lines. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) shared its latest figures with Business Insider, based on data gathered up to Mar. 16. According to them, 366 TSA agents have left their jobs between the beginning of the shutdown and Monday, which was just a few days after agents experienced their first missed paycheck.
Not only are agents walking away from their posts, but some are also refusing to come in some days, and instead opting to callout sick instead. And while Monday was the day with the most callouts to date since the shutdown, DHS told the publication that they have been seeing high numbers of callouts across the board.
According to them, the following airports have faced some of the highest average callout rates since the shutdown began:
- Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International, which has seen an average of 21.5 percent of its agents call out
- John F. Kennedy International, which has seen an average of 21.4 percent of its agents call out
- Houston Hobby, which has seen an average of 20.1 percent of its agents call out
- Louis Armstrong New Orleans International, which has seen an average of 16.5 percent of its agents call out
- Pittsburg International, which has seen an average of 13.8 percent of its agents call out
Prior to the shutdown, the average call out rate was less than 2 percent, highlighting just how big of a jump there has been.
Parade reached out to the TSA for comment on the checkpoint wait times, but they did not respond to our request prior to publication.
Related: Travelers Warned of Longer TSA Lines — Here’s How to Check Wait Times Before You Fly
Travelers Are Sharing Their ExperiencesAccording to Steve Griswold, owner of Pixie Vacations, passengers flying out of Atlanta's Hartsfield Jackson Airport are seeing an average wait time of 90 minutes. "So you need to arrive at least two hours head of when you would normally arrive for your flight," he explained, adding that passengers may need to arrive as early as four hours prior to their flight to be safe. And Griswold says he's hearing the same things about the reason for the slowdown at these busy airports right now, explaining how the gate agents he has spoken with have also said that the bulk of the delays have been caused by TSA callouts.
However, Lauren Leibowitz of New Jersey says that she was pleasantly surprised to see how fast things went during her Mar. 14 flight from Orlando International Airport to Newark Liberty International Airport. "There were about three people working security, and it went by quickly," she recalled, noting that she was pleasantly surprised by the speed, especially considering a lot of families were coming from Disney at the time.
Meanwhile, a Pennsylvania man said he flew out of Newark that same day, and spent less than 30 minutes in line. However, arrived at 6:00 a.m., which could've played a part in how quickly he was able to get through the line.
Some Airports Have Faster Security LinesWhile I've personally seen horror stories from travelers who have been stuck in lines for hours on end—including one newlywed who said a delay at Florida's Fort Lauderdale Airport saw her waiting in line for a shocking 12 hours—there are some airports that seem to be having some good luck when it comes to wait times. According to On Air Parking, which keeps track of airport security lines around the country, there are some wait times that they consider "short," even in this current slowdown.
There are even a few where the lines are listed as taking less than 10 minutes to get through, including:
- Seattle-Tacoma International Airport
- Palm Springs International Airport
- Las Vegas McCarran International Airport
- Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport
Of course, all of this can change in an instant. If you're curious what the wait time will be at your local airport, download the MyTSA App, which gives passengers 24/7 access to the TSA wait times at participating airlines. Additionally, as time goes on, some airlines that previously saw bigger wait times could see those numbers go down as more passengers take advantage of options that allow them to clear security faster, like CLEAR, Global Entry, and PreCheck.

— HouseOfVanity (@HouseOfVanity88) March 19, 2026According to TMZ, the model arrived at an L.A. fashion studio today in her Porsche, greeting a friend before heading inside the venue.
Why Was Bianca Censori in Court? The outing follows Censori’s appearance in court tetstifying at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse in Ye’s Malibu mansion case. Ordered to adhere to an appropriate dress code, the 31-year-old dressed conservatively in a black midi skirt and buttoned-up black cardigan.
In the end, the hip-hop mogul was ordered to pay his ex-project manager $140,000 in damages. Ye has since filed a motion to overturn the decision, Rolling Stone reported.
Are Bianca Censori and Kanye West Splitting Up?Reports of Censori preparing to leave Ye have been circulating online, beginning for the second time in February of this year. The couple denied similar rumors in early 2025, with their representatives denying the claims, People reported.
Since then, the rapper has issued an apology ad in The Wall Street Journal, sat for an interview with Vanity Fair, and sought help in rehab for bipolar disorder.
There have also been rumors about Censori getting ready to release a tell-all memoir. But this is just gossip so far, as neither this rumor, nor the one about her leaving Ye a second time, has been confirmed.

2014 Psychological Movie Ranked the 'Most Exciting Drama' of All Time
In an era where action-packed blockbusters dominate screens, a psychological drama has stunned audiences and critics alike. Whiplash (2014), directed by Damien Chazelle, has been ranked as the most exciting drama of all time.
The making of Whiplash was as demanding as its story. Filmed in just 19 days, the production involved 14–18 hour days with up to 100 setups each day. Director Damien Chazelle faced near-impossible schedules and even returned to set the day after a serious car accident that left him hospitalized with a possible concussion.
The film originated from a 2013 short by Chazelle, which starred J.K. Simmons and won the Short Film Jury Award at Sundance. This success directly led to financing for the feature-length production.

Miles Teller, who plays the ambitious jazz drummer Andrew Neiman, performed all his drumming stunts himself. Despite years of prior drumming experience, Teller underwent intense training for the role.
The result? Hands blistered and bloodied, with some of the real blood actually appearing on screen. Director Chazelle also deliberately avoided calling "cut" during rehearsals, capturing raw exhaustion and authentic emotion for the camera. One iconic slapping scene even involved a real slap to enhance realism, which became the version used in the final film.
J.K. Simmons’ Award-Winning PerformanceMuch of Whiplash’s acclaim is tied to J.K. Simmons, who portrays the tyrannical instructor Terence Fletcher. Simmons, a veteran actor with a long Broadway and film career, drew on years of experience to create a character both terrifying and compelling. His performance earned him the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, along with a Golden Globe, BAFTA, SAG and around 47 other awards.
The film itself received five Oscar nominations and took home three: Best Supporting Actor, Best Film Editing and Best Sound Mixing.
Simmons’ real-life musical background and Chazelle’s precise direction made Fletcher’s relentless pursuit of perfection both believable and chilling.
“There’s something scary and relatable here, for anyone who’s ever felt passionate about some kind of creative pursuit,” Collider noted in its coverage of the film.
While the premise centers on drumming, Whiplash’s excitement comes from its psychological intensity. Early in the film, Andrew studies Buddy Rich recordings, a nod to the legendary drummer known for his exacting, sometimes brutal standards. The final Carnegie Hall-style performance is shot in long, continuous takes to preserve the tension and momentum, showing Teller battered yet determined.
The final solo is both a defiance of Fletcher’s authority and a declaration of Andrew’s mastery and confidence. The band, initially unsure, gradually follows Andrew’s lead, symbolizing a shift in power and highlighting themes of endurance, timing and precision.
While dramas are not usually associated with adrenaline and tension, this film demonstrates that the stakes of ambition and personal struggle can be just as thrilling as car chases or battles. With a modest budget of $3.3 million, the movie grossed around $50 million worldwide.Whiplash is a testament to what focused storytelling and exceptional performances can achieve.

She clarified that she believed Marcus and Violet's steamy scenes are "important."
"We don't die after a certain age, so it's quite nice to kind of represent that. It's very lovely to see young love and love for the first time, but it's also very important and lovely to see somebody who has loved and lost and grieved and comes with a myriad of baggage, because everyone can identify with that, and I think that's important to show," said the 58-year-old during the Ciné-Télé-Revue interview.
Daniel Francis Shared He Found Out About His Character Steamy Season 4 Scenes in a Similar WayIn the February 3 episode of Bridgerton: The Official Podcast, alongside Gemmell, Francis shared that he also found out about his character's first steamy scene during a costume fitting. According to Francis, he was given a modesty garment before he was told that Marcus and Violet had intimate scenes in the show's fourth season, which began airing in January 2026.
While recording the podcast episode, Gemmell also shared that she and Francis were able to have productive conversations with the intimacy coordinators. In addition, she revealed what her boundaries were when filming her character's more explicit scenes.
"My a-s wasn't getting out for anyone," quipped the British actress.

Chip and Joanna Gaines Just Jumped on a Viral Social Media Trend That Fans Are Calling 'Precious'
If you've spent even just five minutes on social media in 2026, there's a solid chance you've come across the "This Is Who You’re Asking" trend. You know the one—famous people pair a current photo or accomplishment with a throwback from their childhood. It's usually something a little awkward, adorable and maybe even humbling. It's kind of refreshing to see everyone lean into where they started versus where they are now.
What makes it so fun is that it isn't just about big success stories. It's the side-by-side of "former band kid" or "tiny human in oversized glasses" with "person you’re now taking advice from," and it makes everything feel more relatable. Like, oh right, we alllll had a beginning (and an awkward phase). And that's totally okay.
Naturally, Joanna Gaines couldn't resist jumping in, and she brought husband Chip Gaines along for the ride. And let's just say that the photos are absolutely priceless. It's the kind of wholesome, kind of chaotic throwback content that makes you smile and immediately want to dig up your own childhood pics.
View this post on InstagramJoanna alternates between childhood photos of herself and Chip, starting with a pic that reads, "This is who you're asking to choose every paint color in your house."
Personally, I would totally trust that well-accessorized kid to decide that every wall in my home needs shiplap. Why not?
I think the slide that has the biggest LOL factor is the last one with a young Chip in an Incredible Hulk swimsuit. That one is captioned, "This is who you're trusting to behave on national TV."

What Fans Are SayingFans of the Gaines were absolutely eating all of this up in the comments section of Joanna's Instagram post.
"I love this," said one commenter. "Could you have ever imagined what your lives would be when you were these little kids? What an amazing journey."
Saturday Night Live icon Cheri Oteri even chimed in with her own thoughts on the post.
"I just love you guys and your beautiful family," Oteri said in her comment.
You've gotta love a successful couple who still keep it real after achieving so much. And clearly their very large fan following appreciates it, too. How often do you get that much love on a social media post? Hardly ever.

Savannah Guthrie's Mom Nancy Update: How Porch Guy's Arm Tattoo Could Solve the Case, Says Retired FBI Agent
Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie‘s mom, Nancy Guthrie, is still missing more than six weeks after the abduction from her Tucson, Ariz., home—and a former FBI agent recently speculated about how a tattoo spotted on "Porch Guy" could help solve the case.
In a March 18 clip from The Megyn Kelly Show, the former Fox News host spoke with former FBI special agent Jonathan Gilliam.
Kelly began by referencing a recent episode of Crime Stories With Nancy Grace, during which Nancy Grace discussed the ink with tattoo artist Darren Rosa.
"Black and gray work is a very prevalent style among gangs, Mexican people who might be in these gangs, or cartels," he claimed. "This is even considered hallmarks of people who've moved up in the echelons of a gang."
After playing the clip, Kelly asked Gilliam for his thoughts on the speculation. "It could be a lot of things," the former FBI agent admitted. " And that's the problem, Megyn, with all this evidence—that is speculation. And Nancy Grace likes to pump things up quite a bit. So it, you know, it could be..."
Gilliam added, "I don't know how he got that from that wrist. I don't know how he came out with that part of it... There's a lot of people who get especially in Arizona, it's like a thing to have a sleeve."
However, the retired agent pointed out one way the tattoo could help the Pima County Sheriff's Department (PCSD) and the FBI find a lead.
"Even that little bit right there, if somebody has been arrested and they have tattoos, they're going to have their tattoos recorded," Gilliam explained. "So there could be a database that recognizes that portion. And somebody just has to put that together."
The footage in question is from a doorbell camera on Nancy's front porch; the FBI released images and video of the masked suspect on Feb. 10.
View this post on InstagramNancy was last seen at her Catalina Foothills home on the evening of Jan. 31, with the PCSD officially launching its search on Feb. 1. As of writing, no suspect has been named in the case.
Costco Is Selling This Fan-Favorite Blackstone Item for an Unbeatable Price, and Shoppers Say It's the 'Absolute Best'
The art of outdoor cooking has evolved far beyond the traditional backyard barbecue. While a standard charcoal or gas grill certainly has its place for high-heat searing, the modern home chef is increasingly looking for versatility that allows for an entire menu to be prepared under the open sky. From sunrise breakfasts of golden pancakes and crispy bacon to late-night smashed burgers and stir-fried vegetables, the transition toward flat-top cooking has revolutionized how families gather. The ability to cook for a crowd without being tethered to a kitchen stove creates a social atmosphere that transforms a simple dinner into a true event.
Investing in high-performance patio equipment is about more than just raw power; it is about precision and heat management. As outdoor living spaces become an extension of the home, the demand for durable, professional-grade tools that can withstand the elements—while providing consistent results—has never been higher. For those who take pride in hosting large gatherings, the challenge is often finding a surface large enough to handle multiple ingredients simultaneously without losing temperature. Achieving that perfect, uniform sear across a massive surface area is the gold standard for any serious griddle enthusiast looking to master the "smash" technique or achieve authentic restaurant-quality results at home.

'Survivor' Star Fires Back at Lisa Kudrow After 'Despicable' Comment
Richard Hatch is responding after Lisa Kudrow’s bold comments about his Survivor win.
The reality TV pioneer, who won the very first season of Survivor in 2000, addressed the Friends star’s remarks in a statement, pushing back on her characterization of his gameplay.
“I’m disappointed in Lisa. It is ironic that someone so richly rewarded for playing roles and celebrating superficiality feels comfortable imagining she has any idea who I am,” Hatch, 64, said to Men’s Journal on Wednesday, March 18.
Kudrow’s comments came during a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter while discussing the origins of her satirical series The Comeback, which was partly inspired by early reality television. Reflecting on Survivor’s debut season, she didn’t mince words about Hatch’s win.
“I saw the very first season of Survivor and loved it. What a phenomenal show, but the guy who won was despicable. How do people say that he played a better game worthy of $1 million? Why aren’t you rewarding the person who played a great game, didn’t stoop to his level and was a shining example of humanity? That person should get $1 million. I remember thinking, ‘This is the end of civilization.’”

Hatch, however, sees things very differently—and says public perception has shifted over time. “Lisa’s comment is reminiscent of so many viewers 25 years ago who lacked the presence of mind to understand the beautiful game of Survivor,” he said to the outlet. “Long ago now, people began to understand the game’s rules and credit me for having so quickly figured out how to play so well.”
He went on to defend his strategic approach, emphasizing that competition was always at the heart of the show.“The game’s rules (outwit, outlast, outplay) are not dissimilar from other well-known, take-no-prisoners games. Imagine a football player tapping his opponent on the shoulder to let him know he is about to tackle him. How boring would that be? We participants signed up, knowing the rules, to compete for a prize, and I won, fairly and squarely.”
Despite the renewed criticism, Hatch made it clear he stands by his legacy, and believes Kudrow’s opinion might change with more context. “I’m very proud of my accomplishment, and were Lisa to have taken the time to learn anything about me before sharing her opinion, I’d like to think that opinion would be markedly different from the one she expressed today.”
Who Got Voted Off 'Survivor 50' Tonight? Plus That Zac Brown Cameo, Explained
As soon as the Survivor 50 players dropped their buffs, they were ready to pick up the gameplay. The tribe swap reunited friends and created new rivalries, which only continued into this week's episode. While Billie Eilish continued to make an impact on the season with her "Boomerang Idol," the castaways were treated to a Survivor first: A visit from Zac Brown. The country icon stopped by in Fiji for a day of tuna and tunes alike. But it was one player who had their Survivor 50 song cut short, and, fittingly, it was the most notable name on the cast.
Here's our spoiler-filled recap of tonight's episode of Survivor 50, including who went home.
Robert Voets/CBS
Mike WhiteSince Mike White last played Survivor, he not only gained, a six-pack, but international notoriety and a few Emmy Awards to boot. But when the White Lotus creator came back to play for Season 50, he largely resorted to the same tactics that brought him great success in David vs. Goliath, namely using the persuasive skills that he's finessed from decades in Hollywood. And, when he heard his closest ally and friend Angelina Keeley was in trouble, he did just that, trying to get his former castmate Christian Hubicki to take their side and get rid of his new ally, Emily Flippen.
Initially, Christian took the bait, especially when Mike made the comparisons between Emily and his former number one Gabby Pascuzzi. But, incidentally, Mike putting Christian in the nostalgic headspace of David vs. Goliath sealed his fate. Seeing how good he can be (which helped get Christian out in their original season), he put the wheels in motion to pull off an incredibly risky 3-2-1 vote. And so, the man who came into this season wanting to wield "narrative warfare" took out one of the show's most accomplished writers, leaving half the tribe flummoxed and furious.
Yes! While she was the recipient of an idol herself, Aubry Bracco was not resting easy. Feeling on the outs of her tribe, she hit the jungle in search of more hardware. That caused her rival Genevieve Mushaluk to go on an idol hunt as well, and the Canadian hit paydirt once more. Finding her second idol, she chose to send it to Rizo Velovic, knowing he trusted her enough not to realize she would cut his throat later. Indeed, the "RizGod" was all smiles when he found the idol in his bag. And, considering the shenanigans he pulled off with his idol in Survivor 49, which was mere weeks ago, it looks like there's more where that came from.

Why was Zac Brown on Survivor?A very good question! Over the past 50 seasons of Survivor, we've seen plenty of people from outside the show, whether they be local experts or Green Berets, show up as a reward to assist the castaways. But this was, for lack of a better term, an entirely different kettle of fish.
Upon being introduced by Jeff Probst, Zac revealed he was a big Survivor fan, knowing all of the returning players who were standing shocked in front of him. But he certainly did not come to Fiji empty-handed, as he brought with him a reward he planned, the biggest of the season. The first-place tribe got an afternoon at the Sanctuary for a fish feast, caught that afternoon by Zac (thanks to his latent love of spearfishing). They were then treated to a private concert from the chart-topper, as the players reflected on the opportunity to slow down and enjoy a rare moment out of the game. While admittedly unconventional (especially with so much time dedicated to someone who isn't even a player), Zac Brown's cameo shows how Survivor fans can truly come from anywhere — and any level of celebrity.

Beloved '70s Rock Classic Is Suddenly Climbing the Charts 56 Years Later
While some songs that are considered classics today shot to the top of the charts right away, others took months or even years to become major hits. Such was the case with one of Creedence Clearwater Revival's most beloved songs of all time, "Have You Ever Seen the Rain." The tune took a surprisingly long time to catch on...but boy, did it ever.
Released as a single from the 1970 album Pendulum, "Have You Ever Seen the Rain" peaked at #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. A significant achievement, to be sure, but not as impressive as some of the band's earlier hits; "Proud Mary," "Bad Moon Rising" and "Down on the Corner/Fortunate Son" all went to #2. Over the years, however, the song's popularity grew. It's currently Creedence Clearwater Revival's biggest streaming hit, with over 2 billion streams on Spotify ("Fortunate Son" is in second place with 1.7 billion streams).
Now, as Forbes reported, "Have You Ever Seen the Rain" has made a return to two Billboard charts over 50 years since its release, appearing on both the Rock Streaming Songs chart and the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. at the same time.
On the streaming-only list, "Have You Ever Seen the Rain" made it to #19, while it just made the cut on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. at #199. The song is climbing up the Billboard Global 200, too (though it's been hanging out there for quite some time already), going from #151 to #135.
The song's enduring legacy is also boosting overall Creedence consumption, with the group's 1976 album Chronicle: The 20 Greatest Hits also creeping up the Billboard 200 (from #58 to #49). Overall, the album has spent nearly 800 weeks on that list; it also appears inside the top 10 on both the Top Rock Albums and Top Rock & Alternative Albums charts.
'Have You Ever Seen the Rain' was written about Creedence Clearwater Revival's 'impending breakup'As frontman John Fogerty told Rolling Stone in 1993, "Have You Ever Seen the Rain" was inspired by the band's struggles (brother and bandmate Tom Fogerty left the group in 1971).
“That song is really about the impending breakup of Creedence. The imagery is, you can have a bright, beautiful, sunny day, and it can be raining at the same time,” he said. “The band was breaking up. I was reacting, ‘Geez, this is all getting serious right at the time when we should be having a sunny day.’”
Years later, however, at a 2012 concert in Arizona, Fogerty said the song had taken on a new meaning for him.
“It started out as a sad song many years ago,” he said. “It was about a sad occasion in my life, but I refuse to be sad now. These days, it’s a very happy song, because it reminds me of my beautiful, little baby girl, Kelsy, and that is the truth.”
