Gayle King Breaks Down in Tears While Reporting On Savannah Guthrie Case

Thu, 02/05/2026 - 11:37am

Like many of Savannah Guthrie's friends and colleagues at CBS, Gayle King is voicing her support for the Today anchor's ongoing family crisis involving her 84-year-old mother's recent disappearance.

According to People magazine, the 71-year-old King opened Thursday's episode of CBS Mornings with a candid discussion about the publicized case, sharing the Guthries family's Instagram video asking for Nancy Guthries' safe return home.

“We’re starting things a little differently this morning because like you, we’re all waking up this morning with very heavy hearts — praying for our friend and our colleague, Savannah Guthrie,” King said on the broadcast. “Her mom Nancy is still missing at this hour and late last night, the Guthrie family went public with a very emotional message.”

As she spoke about her friend's dramatic personal crisis, King fought back tears sharing more details about the case.

“We are all wishing that Nancy comes home,” the longtime anchor said. “Everyone’s talking about this story. It is an unimaginable situation for the Guthrie family.”

Responding to the Instagram video, in which the Guthrie family addresses Nancy's potential abductors, King wound up breaking into tears hearing her colleague's social media message.

“Savannah just got to me where she says ‘mommy,’” King said. “To hear a grown woman say, ‘Mommy, we’re all looking for you.’ Everybody’s looking for her.”

“Your heart can’t help but break for her," the TV personality went on to say.

Nancy Guthrie's was last seen the night of Saturday, January 31, by her daughter, Annie. After failing to attend church the next day, she was reported missing to the authorities on February 1. Along with local law enforcement, the FBI is now involved in the case.

“We all know how close she was to her mother,” King said of the situation. “You keep seeing those pictures over and over and over again. We’re trying to make sense of something that makes no sense. And that’s why we keep struggling and gasping for something. Help us understand how this is happening, why this is happening and what we can do about it? It’s so, so, so scary to me.”

This compact device is designed to deliver efficient, low-impact workouts at home, thanks to a dual-motor system that provides smoother performance and greater stability than traditional single-motor models. By producing high-frequency vibrations — over 1,000,000 pulses per session — it can help activate deep muscle groups, boost calorie burn, and support fat metabolism in less time than standard cardio routines.

Built for full-body training, the plate offers multiple modes that target areas like the abs, waist, glutes, and legs while also promoting circulation and lymphatic drainage. With manual and automatic programs (including walking, jogging, and running) and 120 adjustable speed levels, it’s easy to customize workouts for any fitness level.

An acupressure-style surface with built-in foot magnets enhances the vibration experience by stimulating key reflex points to encourage circulation and recovery. The sturdy, compact design features anti-slip suction cups for added stability, supports up to 450 pounds, and operates with minimal noise. Finished with an LED touch screen and remote control and bonus resistance bands, it's completely user-friendly and slots right into your daily routine.

Krispy Kreme’s Super Bowl Deal Is the ‘Perfect Huddle’ of Treats

Thu, 02/05/2026 - 11:29am

Krispy Kreme has a "sweet play" planned ahead of Super Bowl LX—and this one is completely separate from its adorable Valentine's Day Doughnut menu.

The popular doughnut chain knows many football fans are currently prepping their menus for Sunday, and while wings, chicken tenders, chips and dips certainly dominate the apps, it's sharing a special offer that will score big come time for dessert.

On Thursday, mere days before crowds gather at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., to watch the Seattle Seahawks faceoff against the New England Patriots, Krispy Kreme announced the arrival of its new Big Game Dozen and festive BOGO offer—both only here for the weekend.

Krispy Kreme Kicks off Super Bowl Weekend With Touchdown-Worthy Dozen and BOGO Deal

Krispy Kreme's new Big Game Dozen features six Football Doughnuts, two Goal Post Doughnuts and four of its "iconic" Original Glazed Doughnuts, according to the Feb. 5 press release. The company calls it "the perfect huddle of playful, decorated game-day treats" filled with the classic flavors "everyone loves."

Krispy Kreme's Football Doughnut is, in fact, shaped like a football. It starts with an unglazed shell filled with "smooth, white Kreme," then dipped in chocolate icing and finished with white icing football laces.

Its Goal Post Doughnut takes an Original Glazed doughnut, dips it in green icing, tops it with festive nonpareil sprinkles, and adds a yellow buttercream-flavored goal post for sporty, festive flair.

As for those touchdown-worthy deals, Krispy Kreme is inviting fans to "go for 2" all weekend long. Customers can score an Original Glazed dozen for just $2 with the purchase of any dozen (and now that Krispy Kreme recently overhauled its menu, customers have more options than they may realize). There is a limit to how many fans can buy, though, so if you're looking to maximize your potential, you're better off shopping in person.

According to the official announcement, the deal is valid only at participating locations, and customers are limited to buying two dozen in stores and drive-thrus, versus the limit of one for online orders. Customers ordering online (whether for pickup or delivery) will also have to enter the following code at checkout in order to unlock the $2 BOGO deal: SCORE.

Fans only in it for the Big Game Dozen are invited to pre-order their box online, via the Krispy Kreme catering menu.

Kelce Brothers Host Second Annual 'New Heights' Super Bowl Bash

Thu, 02/05/2026 - 11:21am

Jason Kelce and Travis Kelce's New HeightsSuper Bowl party appears to be becoming a tradition. On Feb. 4, the brothers had their second annual pregame event in San Francisco, Calif. The location isn't far from Sunday's Super Bowl LX location at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara.

On the podcast's Instagram stories, the brothers posted videos from the event. Jason wore a tie-dye coat with velvet trim and proudly showed off his chest hair peeking out beneath it. Travis, on the other hand, wore a red, white, and gray-striped sweater over a white T-shirt, along with a Kansas City Chiefs baseball hat. Behind them were photos of Jason in his Philadelphia Eagles uniform and Travis in his Chiefs gear.

Other videos showcased their interns and a shoutout to Raising Cane's, which provided the party food of crispy chicken sandwiches and fries. The final video showed Jason posing with New York Giants runningback Cam Skattebo. The brothers are fans and felt his pain when he suffered an open tibia fracture, dislocated his ankle, and ruptured his deltoid ligament.

“Nobody wants to see one of the most-loved players in the league get hurt like that,” Taylor Swift's fiancé said on their podcast. “Obviously, what that guy’s meant to football over the past couple of weeks has been pretty f--king fun to watch. So hopefully he gets back healthy and back to running dudes over and being the epitome of a f--king NFL football player.”

Others spotted at the party included the Workaholics guys, Anders Holm, Blake Anderson, and Adam DeVine, as well as Jason's wife, Kylie Kelce.

Travis had a pretty eventful week leading up to the party. During their Feb. 3 episode, he leaned back too far in the chair he was sitting in, stumbled, and appeared to break something. After cracking up over the incident, then swearing a few times, he exclaimed, "Taylor is going to kill me."

Wednesday morning, Travis attended the WM Phoenix Open Pro-Am golf tournament. Held in Scottsdale, Ariz., the three-time Super Bowl champ nearly made a hole-in-one on the par-3 16th hole. Instead, he came away with a birdie, earning the tight end a WM gold chain.

9 Best Mature Beauty Gifts for Valentine’s Day From Our 49-Year-Old Beauty Editor

Thu, 02/05/2026 - 11:15am

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

In my experience, Valentine's Day matters less as you get older. Compared with the intense nerves I felt in school about being "chosen," the holiday now goes by like a passing train that you can jump on—or watch rumble on by.

But if you're in the mood for love (romantic, platonic, self), it can be an excuse to go to that restaurant you've been meaning to try, spring for a weekend trip, plan a fun Galentine's brunch or find a treasure for a loved one (or for yourself). It's also a chance to experiment with a new beauty product—or to hint at one as a gift idea.

Below is a list of favorite products I've already tried, fell in love with and committed to for the long-term. These beauty picks riff off of classic Valentine's Day gifts: roses, chocolates, stuffed toys, pink and red hearts and the like. Many of them are mature beauty faves that work especially well for women over 40, like moi.

So, whether you're looking for yourself or a loved one, this selection—that includes fragrance, lipstick, skincare and even a hair dryer(!)—will be sure to have something to make this February 14 that much sweeter.

Top Mature Beauty Gifts for Valentine's Day9 Best Mature Beauty Gifts for Valentine’s Day, According to Our 49-Year-Old Beauty EditorFor Someone Who Loves Roses: Diptyque Eau de Toilette L'Ombre Dans L'eau, $140

Diptyque

This French perfume house started in Paris in the 1960s and is still a favorite of master perfumers. L'ombre Dans L'eau translates to "Shadow in the Water," and although it's rose-based, the scent is unconventional and sophisticated.

It opens with green grassy notes, then develops with white grapefruit, tangy blackcurrant leaf and amber. Instead of that baby-powder smell often associated with rose perfumes, this scent incorporates myrrh and musk for sexy staying power.

For Someone a Bit Complicated: Diptyque Eau de Toilette Set of 5, $140

Diptyque

If it's daunting to choose a scent for someone else, much less that special someone, try a discovery set of five to increase your odds of success. Like all Diptyque fragrances, the scents are unisex. This set comes with L'ombre Dans L'eau featured above, as well as favorites Do Son, Eau Rose, Eau des Sens and Philosykos.

For Someone Who Loves Little Luxuries: Byredo Satin Lipstick, $60

Bloomingdale's

This gift whispers luxury from the beautiful refillable lipstick bullet designed by Ben Gorham, to the incredible light and creamy feel of the lipstick itself, which incorporates rose flower extract for extra hydration.

Created by famous Italian makeup artist Lucia Pica for Byredo, which typically focuses on top-tier fragrances, this grown-up satin lipstick comes in ten shades with names like "Divorce" and "Chemical Dream."

For Someone Who Loves Blowouts and Pink: Mermade Hair Dryer, $79

Mermade

A hair dryer may seem like an unromantic choice, but here's why I think it's a great gift: most people already have one that's a million years old, ugly and smells slightly of burnt hair, but they don't want to replace it themselves because it works perfectly fine.

This is a pretty upgrade that's professional quality, compact and intended to protect the hair from long-term damage. I also love their pink round brushes for at-home blowouts because it helps you to keep your hair taut without using a lot of muscle.

For Your Galentine's Gathering: Mahalo Queen Galentine Bundle, $190

Mahalo

Mahalo is one of my all-time favorite skincare brands—they make small batch, handcrafted balms, serums and masks in their studio in Kauai. I highly recommend the Rare Indigo Beauty Balm, which smells like Hawaii in a jar, and friends will love to try this bundle of Queen Nani resurfacing masks, made from Hawaiian berries, fruits and sea minerals that exfoliate and hydrate.

For the Nail Enthusiast: PrettyHouseNails Press on Nails, Starting at $28

Courtesy Pretty House Nails

These beautiful press on nails are reusable and hand painted with five to six layers of gel. The Etsy seller PrettyHouseNails is located in Texas, and says in her profile that she is "very passionate about painting and failed the art college entrance exam twice." Lucky for us, since her talent and skill are undeniable, and we may not have otherwise had access to these stunning little works of art for our fingertips.

You can select a custom size and shape, so be sure to follow the provided guide and measure your nail size in milimeters to get the perfect fit. In my experience, the seller is responsive and kind and will help address any questions or issues.

For the Francophile: Buly Body Oil, $45

Buly

Anyone who loves France will love...well anything at Officine Universelle Buly...but I've tried these body oils and definitely recommend them. It's a truly unique gift, and they will personalize it using a calligraphed label with the person's name.

The bottle looks gorgeous on any bathroom shelf or countertop and there are 16 unusual and seductive scent profiles like "Yuzu Oil from Kiso," "Amber Oil from Madagascar" and "Scandinavian Gooseberry with Peruvian Tomato."

Iconic ’90s Rock Band Announces Worldwide Search for Lead Vocalist

Thu, 02/05/2026 - 11:14am

Skid Row needs a new lead singer once again, and this time, the band is inviting the entire world to weigh in.

The iconic '80s and '90s rock band has announced a worldwide search for a new lead vocalist, partnering with music retailer Sweetwater to open auditions to singers across the globe. The move follows years of lineup changes and the recent departure of singer Erik Grönwall, who stepped away due to health concerns.

Through Skid Row's partnership with Sweetwater, vocalists from anywhere in the world can submit audition videos online, showcasing their voice, range, and stage presence. The band has emphasized that they're not just looking for technical skill, but for a singer who can respect Skid Row’s legacy while providing long-term stability after decades of change.

View this post on Instagram

For longtime fans, Skid Row’s frontman history is central to the band’s story.

The group originally rose to fame with Sebastian Bach, whose powerful vocals helped define their late-'80s and early-'90s peak. Albums like Skid Row (1989) and Slave to the Grind (1991) turned the band into hard rock staples, producing enduring hits such as "18 and Life," "Youth Gone Wild," and "I Remember You." Bach was dismissed from the band in 1996 after internal conflicts, a split that permanently shaped Skid Row's public narrative.

After a brief hiatus, Skid Row returned in 1999 with Johnny Solinger as lead vocalist. Solinger fronted the band for 16 years, one of the longest tenures in Skid Row history, while the group focused primarily on touring. He was let go in 2015 as the band sought a new direction.

That transition led to a short-lived chapter with Tony Harnell, formerly of TNT, whose tenure lasted less than a year. In 2016, Skid Row brought in ZP Theart, the former DragonForce vocalist, who helped stabilize the lineup during several years of consistent touring before exiting in early 2022.

Later that year, Skid Row entered a new era with Erik Grönwall, whose arrival coincided with the band's first full-length studio album in 16 years, The Gang's All Here. However, in 2024, Grönwall announced he could no longer tour full time after undergoing treatment for leukemia, citing the physical demands of the road.

With the band once again without a permanent frontman, Skid Row chose a different approach: launching an open, global audition.

Auditions are now open, with the band reviewing submissions as they begin the search for the vocalist who could become the next defining presence in Skid Row’s long and evolving story.

Reba McEntire’s Jaw-Dropping Confession: The One Thing She Refuses to Let Control Her Life

Thu, 02/05/2026 - 11:09am

Reba McEntire has conquered music, film, and even Broadway, all while holding fast to one rule she refuses to break about how she lives her life.

In an interview with Garden & Gun, McEntire explained that she doesn't let fear rule her decisions. This mindset, she said, has guided her through every phase of her career.

She explained, "It was a little like when I was doing Annie Get Your Gun on Broadway [in 2001]. I did an interview before we premiered, and a man said to me, 'Aren’t you nervous about being on Broadway? You’ve never even done a play before.'"

"It kind of shocked me. I said, 'You know what? I never thought about that, because I don’t let fear rule my life.' When I have a gut feeling to do something, I think that’s the direction given by God. So I go for it. If I make a mistake, I learn from it."

One of the most devastating moments in McEntire’s life came in 1991, when eight members of her band and crew were killed in a plane crash. She leaned on her faith to overcome the fear and grief that followed the tragedy.

She also faced divorce twice, from Charlie Battles and Narvel Blackstock. These life-changing moments gave her time to reflect on growth, strength, and trusting herself again.

McEntire told the outlet, "You have to look at it as something that has happened—now, how are you going to deal with it? I was out walking one time when one of these situations happened in my life. I said, 'Lord, what am I going to do? What do I say?'"

"And it came to me. It said, 'Oh, well. There’s nothing you can do about it. You might as well move forward and find something to occupy your time. Go work, go do something else.'"

She concluded, "I wouldn’t say I’m cocky, but I’m confident. Mama always said, 'You can do anything you set your mind to.  Put your big-girl panties on.'"

McEntire recently performed for the first time at the Grammy Awards. She anchored the "In Memoriam" segment, alongside Brandy Clark, which featured a tribute to her stepson, manager and producer Brandon Blackstock.

He died from melanoma on August 7, 2025. Blackstock was 48.

Reba McEntire currently stars in Happy's Place. Season 2 returns with new episodes on Friday, February 27, at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.

The American heavy metal band Pantera has just announced that they will be performing live in Athens, Greece for the first time in their career.

The band took to social media on Thursday to share the monumental news with their fans. "We are excited to announce that we are coming to Athens, Greece for the first time ever! We can’t wait to play for you!" the band said.

The performance will be taking place on July 9 during the Release Athens festival overlooking the Faliro Marina and the Battleship Averof, making it a beautiful venue surrounded by centuries of Greek history.

The performance will come just after Pantera has finished wrapping up its time supporting Metallica for several of their upcoming European tour dates, during which the band will play live in Frankfurt, Germany, Budapest, Hungary, Dublin, Ireland and London, England. Tickets for their Athens performance will be available starting on Saturday and can be found on Pantera's website.

Pantera started as a glam metal band in 1981 when it was founded by metal music duo and brothers Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul, with bassist Rex Brown joining a year later. The band transitioned into heavier metal in the late '80s after recruiting vocalist Phil Anselmo in 1986 and releasing their album Power Metal (1988). Though Pantera enjoyed several years of success and evolution over the span of their time together, they also faced many moments of tragedy, including growing tensions surrounding Anselmo's drug abuse at the time which resulted in the band breaking up in 2003. Dimebag Darrell, who formed the band Damageplan with his brother after the breakup, was unfortunately shot and killed during a live performance in 2004. Vinnie Paul died too in 2018 from heart failure, leaving Anselmo and Brown to be the last surviving members of Pantera's best-known lineup. Brown and Anselmo reunited in 2023 to tour as Pantera once again, bringing along musicians Zakk Wylde and Charlie Benante into the new lineup.

The band's Greece debut is highly anticipated among Pantera's fans, who are looking forward to yet another era of enjoying the music they know and love all around the world.

2010s Rocker 'Stayed in an Underground Bunker' While Working on First-Ever Solo Album

Thu, 02/05/2026 - 10:55am

Jay Buchanan, best known as the powerful voice behind the 2010s rock band Rival Sons, took an extreme and deeply personal path while creating his first-ever solo album.

While working on Weapons of Beauty, Buchanan spent nearly three months living alone in an underground bunker in the Mojave Desert; a decision he says completely changed how the songs were written, felt and finished.

Speaking on Loudwire Nights on Tuesday, Buchanan openly described the experience as strange, uncomfortable and sometimes boring. But he also said that the isolation became the heart of the album. The 10-song record, Weapons of Beauty, arrived Friday and marks a major turning point in his long career.

“I stayed in an underground bunker out in the middle of the Mojave Desert for three months,” Buchanan said. “I slept on a cot in a tiny windowless bunker alone. I lived off of a gas-powered generator.”

At first, the silence did not bring instant inspiration. Buchanan admitted that much of his time felt unproductive. He had his guitars, books and basic supplies, but no distractions and no escape from his thoughts.

Jay Buchanan from Rival Sons performs on stage at Trondheim Rocks 2024 at E.C Dahls Arena on June 06, 2024 in Trondheim, Norway.

“I had to waste a lot of time in order to find what I was looking for,” he explained. “There were so many fruitless searches and fruitless hunts.”

Over time, Buchanan said the quiet became something he learned to work with instead of fighting against. Without noise from the outside world, the silence itself became part of the creative process.

“You realize how loud the silence is,” he said. “The silence is really loud when that’s all you have.”

Eventually, Buchanan began treating the emptiness like a partner in the writing process. He described trying to “play” the silence the same way he would an instrument, allowing space and stillness to guide the songs instead of rushing ideas.

This approach gave the album a weight he says he has never felt before. Weapons of Beauty is Buchanan’s debut solo LP, and he holds these songs differently than anything he has written with Rival Sons.

“These songs have a spirit of creation that is definitely different from anything I’ve done before,” he said.

The album was written during that desert stay and later recorded with longtime collaborator and producer Dave Cobb, who has worked with Buchanan on several Rival Sons albums. Cobb described the project as raw and unfiltered, capturing Buchanan without the safety net of a band.

Buchanan admitted that making a solo album was frightening. After years of success with Rival Sons, stepping out alone forced him to face doubts he had avoided for a long time.

“The entire journey of making this record was just terrifying,” Buchanan said. “I was venturing out on my own. I wasn’t sure I could do it.”

That fear is part of what shaped Weapons of Beauty. Songs like “Caroline,” “True Black,” and the title track reflect themes of grief, vulnerability and emotional honesty. Buchanan previously said that writing about deep loss allowed him to face painful feelings without getting stuck in them.

Outside of his solo work, Buchanan remains active with Rival Sons, who continue to tour and release music. Still, this album represents something new, a personal statement made without compromise or outside pressure.

“I’ve got music, and the music means so much to me,” Buchanan said. “I made my statement, and there’s gonna be many more statements after that.”Weapons of Beauty was born from silence, fear and patience. For Buchanan, the bunker was not about escape, but about listening to the quiet, to himself and to songs that needed time to surface.

Tommaso Cioni Returned Nancy Guthrie Home ‘Safely’ Before She Vanished, Sheriff Says

Thu, 02/05/2026 - 10:52am

Is Tommaso Cioni the last person to have seen Nancy Guthrie?

The search forSavannah Guthrie's elderly mother is on day five and the Pima County Sheriff's Department hasn't shared too many updates with the public. At the time of this writing, there have been no suspects named in the case and no arrests made in the connection with Nancy's disappearance.

Police say that the 84-year-old mother of three (daughters Savannah and Annie Guthrie and son Charles "Camron" Guthrie) was taken from her Arizona home in the middle of the night, sometime between 9:45 p.m. local time on Saturday, January 31 and 11 a.m. on Sunday, February 1. Concerns began when Nancy didn't show up to church service on Sunday morning.

Related: Friend of Savannah Guthrie’s Mom Calls Disappearance ‘a Freaky Thing’

Initial information from the Pima County Sheriff's Office indicated that Nancy had dinner with her daughter Annie on Saturday night and was dropped off at her home around 9:30 p.m. local time. Now, however, there has been an update.

Sheriff Chris Nanos has confirmed that it was Annie's husband, Cioni, who dropped Nancy off at home on Saturday night. Nanos told The New York Times that Cioni drove Nancy home after dinner and made her she was "safely" inside before leaving.

Neither Annie nor her husband have spoken publicly about the time they spent with Nancy on Saturday night. Annie appeared next to her siblings in an emotional video shared on social media on Wednesday, Feb. 4, during which they pleaded with possible kidnappers in hopes of finding their mom.

Cioni was seen in public a handful of times this week, once driving a car with Annie in the passenger's seat, and again at his home, just a few miles away from Nancy's home, when the FBI showed up on Wednesday, Feb. 4, according to photos posted by TMZ.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department is expected to update the public on the case in a press conference on Thursday, Feb. 5, at 1 p.m. Eastern.

The 2026 Grammys included much more than "thank you" acceptance speeches, with multiple winners commenting on the current state of ICE raids in the country. Finneas O'Connell has come to his sister, BillieEilish's defense after her "stolen land" speech was met with outrage.

After winning Song of the Year for "Wildflower", Eilish took the opportunity to declare, "As grateful as I feel, I honestly don't feel like I need to say anything but that no one is illegal on stolen land." She also ended her speech with "F*ck ICE," which was bleeped out.

Despite having been vocal on her political stance before, her comment led to an onslaught of criticism and the hypocrisy of her statement. In return, her brother Finneas took to addressing the situation on Threads in defense of his sister's comment.

"Seeing a lot of very powerful old white men outraged about what my 24-year-old sister said during her acceptance speech," he wrote via Instagram Threads. "We can literally see your names in the Epstein files."

Eilish's comment led many to call her "tone deaf" and the "hypocrisy" behind her statement. It was revealed that her Los Angeles home sits on the ancestral land of the Tongva tribe, also known as the First Angelenos. Her mansion has an estimated worth of $3 million.

The Tongva tribe has commented on Eilish's speech, praising her "provid[ing] visibility to the true history of this country," while also noting, "It is our hope that in future discussions, the tribe can explicitly be referenced."

The siblings weren't the only ones who wore ICE-Out pins and spoke on the current political climate. Bad Bunny, who has been met with backlash over his Super Bowl 2026 halftime performance, also took a stand after his Grammy win.

"We're not savage, we’re not animals, we’re not aliens. We are humans and we are Americans," said the native Puerto Rican singer.

While General Hospital fans know Sidwell (Carlo Rota), Pascal (Marc Forget), and Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) kidnapped Anna and tortured her into believing that Faison (Anders Hove) is alive, Emma, Felicia, and Mac believe Anna is having a mental breakdown.

Watching Anna lose it on her granddaughter to protect Emma from Faison was beyond emotional, with Hughes and Bruner both delivering heartbreaking performances.

The One Evening Habit a Security Expert Says Seniors Living Alone Should Never Skip

Thu, 02/05/2026 - 10:27am

In an increasingly digital world, it has become more important than ever to familiarize yourself with cybersecurity practices to protect your identity and assets. Similarly, being aware of your physical surroundings should be prioritized as well, especially if you're a senior living alone.

With that in mind, there are a few steps seniors can take to minimize the risk of digital and physical threats. To better understand these steps, especially in light of the scarydisappearance of Nancy Guthrie, Parade asked personal security experts for their top safety tips. They reveal the one evening habit seniors living alone should never skip, common nighttime mistakes to avoid, go-to safety upgrades for homes and more.

As we've all come to realize, scammers tend to use a variety of techniques to execute phishing attempts, ranging from phony emails and text messages to robocalls. Sadly, these scams are often disproportionately targeted towards senior citizens. Having a healthy dose of skepticism is the first step to fighting back against these suspicious incidents, but there are also a few things you can proactively do to keep your digital identity safe.

Likewise, there are several ways to safeguard your home and secure your property to ward off potential intruders. Below, we're sharing a few key ways that seniors living alone (as well as their families) can feel more reassured and at ease.

#1 Evening Habit That Seniors Living Alone Should Never Skip, According to a Safety Expert

Kathleen Gallagher, a personal safety expert who is known as "The SafetyChick," says seniors living alone can take one simple step every evening to be a little bit safer.

"Checking in with their loved ones and letting them know they are home and going to bed (is important)," Gallagher tells Parade.

If you're not in the habit of contacting your elderly loved ones daily, a simple text message is all it takes to make sure they're doing well and don't have any immediate concerns about their well-being.

2 Common Nighttime Mistakes Made by Seniors Living Alone

When the evening rolls around, we all want to wind down for the day and relax our bodies and minds. Personal safety expert Tom Patirewarns that that state of relaxation can put seniors in a position to make two common mistakes—one involving digital activities, and the other having to do with physical safety.

1. Scrolling while tired

"Lots of ‘courting’ goes on in the evening when seniors are alone. Usually their concentration and focus is tired after a long day. So, I tell all seniors to save all the surfing or seeking out until the morning when you are fresh," he explains.

For instance, Patire says a lot of seniors fall prey to fake online deals or phony emails about money being left to them.

"Never give any personal information to an unknown (party) via phone, text or email. That is where it all begins. Once they get you to answer, they have the power of persuasion," he tells Parade.

2. Forgetting to secure their home

On the physical safety front, Gallagher says many seniors forget to turn on their alarms or make sure all their doors are locked and bolted.

"Being older should not mean having a false sense of security," she warns. "Crime knows no age or boundaries."

Related: 2 Things ER Doctors Are Begging You To Stop Doing in Your Front Yard

5 Safety Upgrades Security Experts Recommend for Seniors Living Alone

The pros we polled suggest the following safety upgrades seniors should invest in:

  • Security systems: Gallagher recommends investing in a "solid alarm system that secures all entry doors and windows." She adds, "Make sure when the alarm is triggered it sends notifications to your local police station and family members."
  • Panic buttons: "Panic buttons/life alerts are also a great way to notify people in an emergency," Gallagher says.
  • Secure passwords: Lisa A. D’Ambrosio, Ph.D., a research scientist at MIT's AgeLab, recommends a simple safety upgrade that won't cost seniors a dime. "For any older adults—or really for anyone of any age—use secure passwords that are unique to that site or login," she stresses.
  • Antivirus software: Patire suggests downloading "reputable" antivirus software "to prevent things before they happen."
  • Multifactor authentication: "A second layer identification system comes back to you to authenticate," Patire says, noting that this is especially important with online banking and credit cards.
3 Other Safety Tips To Keep in Mind

There are several other ways to minimize risk in your daily life if you're a senior living alone. Here's what the pros recommend:

1. Think before you act

"Don’t feel pressured to act on something or to make a decision quickly in response to a telephone call or a text message from someone you do not know personally," D’Ambrosio says. "Fraudsters and scammers often try to use time pressure to get people to do things or make choices they would not make if they had a little bit more time to consider their actions and choices. Talk to a family member, talk to a friend, talk to your partner—get another perspective."

2. Invest in a smartwatch

"Falls are one of the most common concerns and risks for older adults in the home, and those who live alone don’t have someone else at hand who can help them or call for medical help if it is needed. A smartwatch can call a loved one or for medical help automatically if it detects a fall and you do not let it know that you are not in need of assistance," D’Ambrosio says.

3. Be open about your location

"Let someone know where you are at all times and use your phone location (feature). It could make all the difference in the world," Patire explains.

Iconic ‘80s Band Members Announce New All Female Supergroup

Thu, 02/05/2026 - 10:18am

Get ready for Psycher, a new all-female transatlantic supergroup featuring members of the Go-Go’s, the Fall, Belly and Zuzu’s Petals.

The all-star combo is currently rehearsing and recording in London and has at least two gigs lined up already.

The announcement of the band, complete with a photo of the four women, came in a Facebook post and Instagram story on Feb. 5 from drummer Linda Pitmon, 59, who first gained notice in the 1980’s Minneapolis band the Zuzu’s Petals, featuring her onetime workmates Coleen Elwood and the late Laurie Lindeen. Since then, she’s played in numerous bands, often featuring her husband, Dream Syndicate singer-guitarist Steve Wynn, and former R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck, including the Baseball Project, Steve Wynn & the Miracle Three, Luke Haines & Peter Buck, Filthy Friends and more.

The other members of Psycher are Kathy Valentine of the Go-Go’s, Brix Smith of the Fall, and new recruit, Gail Greenwood of Belly, who has replaced Cait O’Riordan of the Pogues, who was included in the initial posts about the band in 2025.

Of the four women, Valentine, 67, has experienced the most commercial success and notoriety as the bass player of the Go-Go’s during the band’s chart-topping run in the 1980s and last year played the Coachella and Cruel World festivals in Southern California with the band. She was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the Go-Go’s in 2021. Though she played bass in the Go-Go’s, it appears Valentine is moving back to her original instrument, guitar in Psycher. Before joining the Go-Go’s, Valentine played guitar in the Textones, a band she co-founded with Carla Olson, which recorded the original version of “Vacation,” which was later a hit for the Go-Go’s.

Singer-guitarist Smith, 63, was born and raised in the U.S., but is best-known for her work with the influential British post-punk band the Fall, which she was a member of from 1983-1989 and rejoined for a second tour of duty from 1994-1996.

Bassist Greenwood, 65, most recently toured with another influential British post-punk band, Gang of Four, on their farewell tour. She had her most success as a member of Belly, fronted by Tanya Donelly, in the ‘90s, and later joined L7 after Belly split.

Psycher is on the bill for A Rock n Roll Life Celebration of Clem Burke of Blondie on March 25 and 26 at the Bowery Palace in New York. Valentine was once romantically involved with Burke and remained close friends with him until his death in April 2025. Others on the bill include Burke’s former Blondie bandmates, plus Steve Wynn, Tommy Stinson of the Replacements and more.

Jeff Probst Explains How His Surprise 'Survivor 50' Rock Song Came Together (Exclusive)

Thu, 02/05/2026 - 10:17am

Across 50 seasons and over 750 contestants, Survivor has featured a wide variety of musicians. Some, like "SWV" standout Taj Johnston-George, had a name for themslves long before they ever set foot on the CBS reality series. Others, like Chase Rice, used their time in the spotlight as a springboard to fame, launching a music career in the process. And on Sunday, Feb. 1, one surprise voice joined their ranks: Jeff Probst.

CBS's airing of the Grammy Awards had Cirie Fields, OzzyLusth and Joe Hunter, a few of the 24 castaways hitting the beach again for Survivor 50, walking the red carpet. In an Instagram post, the group stated, "We have the golden idol at the Grammys. But we hear there's a music idol on all platforms." And it wasn't long before Survivor fans went in-depth like an idol hunt, finding a new song available for streaming: "Survivor 50 Come and Get It," by none other than Jeff Probst himself.

🔥Don’t miss our weekly Survivor newsletter! Sign up to get Mike Bloom’s exclusive interviews with the players and the latest news about the show right to your inbox.🔥

The nearly four-minute hard rock anthem is written and performed by the host and executive producer (clearly indicated by the use of the classic Probst-ism "got nothing for ya") as an ode to the upcoming milestone season. Amid wailing electric guitars, Probst encourages the cast of returnees, the subject of the song, that in order to be successful against some of the best the game has ever seen, conservative gameplay must be crushed beneath their feet like the many grains of sand lying the Fijian beaches around them. The chorus, for example, reads: "Come and get it/Take what's yours/You want it bad/I say you gotta want it more/Come and get it/Take what's yours/You want your face in the stone/Then you gots to bring the war."

Parade got the chance to talk with Probst at SCAD TVFest, where he was being honored with the Legend of Television Award for his work across over a quarter century of Survivor. And, given the recency of this surprise song, we had to get all of the details of how this came to be.

"Here's the thing. Season 50 is a celebration," he says in an exclusive interview. "I'm celebrating as well. And I decided I want to write a rock song for my favorite show, which is Survivor."

But, true to the host's tireless worth ethic, he was eager to see this concept actually come into fruition. So he gathered some friends, including longtime Survivor composer David Vanacore and wife and Probst's wife Lisa Ann Russell, went to famed recording property Chaplin Studios, and put "Survivor 50 Come and Get It" together in a one-night session. Rather than coming from CBS, Probst elected to release it as his own EP. And, perhaps taking a page out of Taylor Swift and Beyoncé's book, he dropped it with no announcement whatsoever, leaving many Survivor fans confused as to whether one of the most revered hosts on TV today had actually dropped his own song.

Related: Mike White is Returning for ‘Survivor 50’ With One Goal: ‘To Create an Exciting Season’ (Exclusive)

Interestingly, the anthem shifts in the middle, as Probst breaks into a soliloquoy (not to be confused with shalingua). He says, "Now I hope you're all a little nervous. You should be. You have a chance to make history. And expectations couldn't be higher. So play without fear, make no apologies and show no mercy. Smear their blood across your face. Then race back into the jungle and stir up another brew of chaos. That's how you make this season the season they'll never stop talking about. My advice: Buckle up. Because all I want from you...is everything."

Surprisingly, Probst reveals that the reason why the words deviate so much from the verses around them is that they were actually taken from some of the last things he told the cast of Survivor 50 before the game began.

"in the middle of the song, there is kind of a locker room speech," he describes. "And that is basically the speech I gave to the players the day before when I went to visit them at Ponderosa. And I did just sort of regurgitate a version of, 'You should be nervous, because this is an opportunity to go slay. So kick some ass!'"

The song ends with Probst calling for a toast, as a group of people do a cheers to Season 50. And, in a fun Easter egg, hat audio is actually from the Survivor 50 cast proper. As Probst reveals, executive producer Matt van Wagenen had been surreptitiously recording the audio from the speech and toast at the time. So that hollering and whistling you hear at the end isn't from the people in the recording booth, but instead the voices of players like Mike White, Colby Donaldson and Q Burdette.

There is also, of course, the matter of the cover art to "Survivor 50 Come and Get It." Fans were greeted Sunday night by not only a new track from Probst, but an accompanying image of the host rocking a mustache and volumized moptop. He sports a t-shirt from the 1980 Van Halen Invasion tour underneath a bright blue jacket (a choice certainly appealing to Angelina Keeley) and red pants. While people believed initially the new look had to be AI-generated, Probst confirms it's the real deal.

"That is me in Wichita, Kansas, when I was in a rock band," he says. "And that's why I'm channeling the old rock dreams I had when I was a teenager. That photo was like a Tuesday. That's when I would go out into the world. That was not Halloween or anything. That's what I wore. I was a musician. Not really, but I was portraying one. It's trying to be David Lee Roth."

And, in a fashion that is trademark to the venerated host, he uses his pet project rock song as a larger message for people to pursue their aspirations. It was a lesson he would continue to impart to the students at the Savannah College of Art and Design, as he accepted his award later in the day.

"Do your thing," he states. "I wanted to do that, so I just did it. There's no other purpose. There's no hidden agenda or anything. I just thought, 'I want to do it. I have friends that are musicians. We got a recording studio. Let's go do it.' The point is, that's what Survivorr's about. Just go do it! You want an adventure, sign up for Survivor. You want something else, go do that. But live your life!"

Or, in a phrase, "come and get it."

’70s Heavy Metal Band Announces First-Ever Release From Legendary Reunion

Thu, 02/05/2026 - 10:16am

Ronnie James Dio had one hell of a career.

The heavy metal frontman was perhaps best known for his time at Black Sabbath, when he replaced Ozzy Osbourne in 1979 and recorded the electric album Heaven and Hell (1980). When Dio left Black Sabbath for good in 1992, he reunited with his former bandmates Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice to form the band "Heaven & Hell" in 2006, which stayed active until Dio's death in 2010.

A new box set from Rhino Records, Breaking out of Heaven: 2007–2009, captures the legendary final years of Dio's time with Black Sabbath and their extraordinary reunion during the Heaven & Hell run. The set, which will arrive on March 27, will be offered in both 7 x LP and 4 x CD/Blu-ray editions, and will include extra features such as a replica tour book, a poster and an illustrated book with new liner notes written by designer Hugh Gilmour.

The first disc in the set will feature tracks from Heaven & Hell's sole album The Devil You Know, including fan-favorites such as "Bible Black" and "Follow the Tears." The second and third discs will include performances from the band's Live From Radio City Music Hall show in 2007—the very first time this performance has ever been released on vinyl. The fourth and final disc features the live album Neon Nights: 30 Years of Heaven and Hell, which was performed and recorded at the Wacken Open Air Festival in Germany in 2009.

Eight tracks included in the set will be making their vinyl debuts, which includes some live recordings and studio tracks from Black Sabbath and Heaven & Hell's joint album The Dio Years (2007). The Blu-ray edition of the set will also feature exclusive content such as live shows and interviews with the band, and an HD-upscaled music video of "Bible Black."

Dio's years at Black Sabbath were defined by reinvention and evolution, and the vocalist's ability to take the band into a second golden age after Osbourne's departure. His creation of Heaven & Hell was the powerful epilogue to that era, in which he showed the world that the legends who changed the entire landscape of heavy metal music knew exactly who they were.

The full track list for the Breaking Out of Heaven: 2007–2009 box set is available on the Rhino Records website, where pre-orders are already open.
