Dairy Queen Just Announced a New 'Breakfast Collection' Inspired by Childhood Favorites

Wed, 03/18/2026 - 7:25pm

Breakfast always has been and always will be my favorite meal of the day. There's just something about breakfast flavors that hits differently. So when I heard about Dairy Queen's newest drop, I was thrilled. The new lineup turns some seriously nostalgic morning staples into over-the-top indulgences. It's not exactly what you'd expect to see on a Dairy Queen menu, but that's kind of the point.

This latest lineup leans all the way into comfort, color and a little bit of childhood whimsy. If you've ever wished your favorite cereals or sweet treats could double as a frozen treat, this is welcome news.

A Frozen Treat Lineup That Feels Like Saturday Morning View this post on Instagram

Food blogger @snackolator shared that the new Dairy Queen breakfast collection is set to roll out in April 2026, bringing three limited-time items that remix classic morning flavors into dessert form. Each frozen treat draws on something familiar but gives it that signature Dairy Queen twist.

First up is the Fruity Pebbles Shake, a vibrant, cereal-inspired drink made with a sweet cereal milk-style base and Fruity Pebbles mixed throughout. It's colorful, nostalgic and already proven to be a hit after testing last year. Fruity Pebbles is my favorite sugary cereal from childhood, so I'll definitely have to give this one a try.

Then there's the Choco Frosted Donut Blizzard, which might be the most indulgent of the three. It features chocolate-covered donut pieces blended into Dairy Queen's signature soft serve, finished with sprinkles for that bakery-meets-dessert-shop vibe.

And finally, the Cinnamon Toast Crunch Dipped Cone brings a crunchy twist to a classic. This frozen treat starts with a standard soft-serve cone and is then coated in a sweet, cinnamon cereal-inspired shell.

Why Dairy Queen Is Tapping Into Breakfast Nostalgia

Cereal flavors have had a major comeback, especially among millennials and Gen Z, who grew up on these brands. Turning them into a frozen treat adds a layer of novelty while still feeling familiar. It's comfort food with a playful twist.

If you're planning to try them, timing matters. The Dairy Queen collection is expected to hit most locations by the end of April, and like many seasonal drops, it likely won't stick around for long.

So no, it's not an actual breakfast—but it might be a pretty convincing excuse to treat yourself a little earlier in the day.

His Colossal Clue featured Johnny Gill from legendary R&B group New Edition, who said, "This guy has been like a brother to me, and we've riffed together for years. While singing is my day job, it is not his."

Why This Disney Star Told a Big Lie About His Age — And No One Noticed

Wed, 03/18/2026 - 7:17pm

Hannah Montana actor Jason Earles was nearly 30 during the first season of the hit '00s Disney show, where he starred as Miley Stewart's (Miley Cyrus) 16-year-old brother, Jackson.

In the premiere episode of his Hannah Montana-themed podcast,Best of Both Our Worlds, Earles revealed that he purposely lied about his age during the audition process.

"When I auditioned for the show, I lied to them and told them I was 18 years old," said Earles on the March 17 podcast episode.

Earles also shared that the show's cast, crew, and the network executives didn't realize he wasn't a teenager "until halfway through the first season."

"I remember one of the higherup network executives showed up on show night and he was like, 'Hey, so you're 28.' And I was like, 'I am,'" said Earles in the podcast episode.

According to Earles, he was also asked about his marriage to his now ex-wife, Jennifer Earles, whom he divorced in 2013. After he confirmed he was a 28-year-old married man, and not an 18-year-old, the network executive asked if he had "any more secrets" to share. Earles replied that he didn't and also promised to not start a family while working on the Disney Channel show, which aired for four seasons until 2011.

In addition, Earles said the show's executive producer and showrunner, Steven Peterman, had told him that he wouldn't have been cast as Jackson if he had been honest about his age.

"He did say after he found out, he's like, 'Thank you so much for lying to us. Because we would have gotten nervous if we had found out during the pilot, and we would have recast you. Since we're kind of committed now, eight episodes in, like you know, it actually ended up working out for the best,''' recalled the actor on his podcast.

Jason Earles Revealed When He Knew 'Hannah Montana' Was a Hit

In a March 2026 interview with Sunrise, Earles teased what fans can expect from his Best of Both Our Worlds podcast, which is co-hosted by one of the show's writers and executive producers, Douglas Danger Lieblein, and Shannon Flynn, who served as the show's acting coach and one of the producers.

"It's the three of us basically sitting around talking about the show from all of our different perspectives," said Earles, now 48.

In addition, he told Sunrise that he didn't expect Hannah Montana to have such mainstream success. He said, however, that he realized the magnitude of the show when Cyrus was invited to the White House in 2007 for the Easter Egg Roll.

"I thought that the show was special and we thought that people would think it's funny, but it was around the time that President Obama invited Miley to the White House to roll Easter eggs with his daughters that I was like, 'Oh, I think maybe the show is popular,'" said Earles during the March 2026 interview.

1971 Career-Defining Classic Was a No. 1 Hit 55 Years Ago Today

Wed, 03/18/2026 - 7:13pm

In 1971, T.Rex delivered a song that would help launch the glam rock movement into the mainstream.

Their single, "Hot Love" quickly became a massive success, reaching No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart and holding the top spot for six weeks. The track marked a major breakthrough for frontman Marc Bolan and solidified the band's growing popularity.

With its infectious melody, handclaps and stripped-down arrangement, "Hot Love" stood out from the heavier rock sounds of the time. The song's charm and Bolan's charismatic vocal delivery helped make it an instant fan favorite.

"I don't contrive my success in the sense of going into a studio to make hit singles," Bolan told Record Mirror in 1971. "I've no idea what makes a hit single anyway. I go in and do what I like – just the funkiest thing I have goes into a single. I get a few people in the business come up and give me a nudge and say 'Go on, Bole, you've got it made – you're a sly one', but I really don't have any kind of secret formula. I just don't think like that."

"Hot Love" also signaled a shift in T.Rex's sound. Originally rooted in folk and psychedelic rock, the band began embracing a more accessible, groove-driven style, paving the way for their later glam rock classics.

The song's success was amplified by a memorable television performance on Top of the Pops, where Bolan's appearance, complete with glitter under his eyes, helped ignite what would soon be known as "T.Rextasy," a wave of fan frenzy that swept across the UK.

T.Rex formed in the late 1960s as a rock band under is original name, Tyrannosaurus Rex before evolving into a full electric group and changing its moniker. The band became one of the pioneers of glam rock throughout the early 1970s, earning a reputation for their catchy melodies and flashy style.

However, tragedy struck nearly a decade into the's band's successful fun. Bolan was killed in a car accident in 1977 at just 29 years old, cementing his legacy as one of rock's most influential and enigmatic figures. In 2020, T.Rex was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 50 years after their first hit, "Ride a White Swan," earned the No. 2 spot on the U.K. charts.

More than five decades later, "Hot Love" remains a cornerstone of early glam rock and a reminder of the moment T.Rex stepped into superstardom.

1977 Classic Hit Ranked Among 'Best Soft Rock Songs' of All Time

Wed, 03/18/2026 - 7:10pm

Of all the classic albums in rock history, it could be said that Fleetwood Mac's Rumours might have the messiest backstory of all (and that's saying quite a lot). It's common knowledge now that the band was going through all kinds of drama during the recording of the iconic album, which was released in 1977: Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nickswere in the process of breaking up, as were Christine and John McVie.

As unpleasant as being in the studio together might have been for the band members at the time, all the pain behind the scenes resulted in some of the most popular (and relatable) songs ever, from "Go Your Own Way" to "Dreams" to "Never Going Back Again" and so many others. But while all of those tunes were inspired by Nicks and Buckingham's romantic turmoil, another one of the album's standouts was a direct result of the McVies' split.

Ranked by Ultimate Classic Rock as one of the "best soft rock songs" of all time, Christine wrote the upbeat, romantic "You Make Loving Fun." However, she didn't write it about John. The couple had been struggling for quite some time before the band started recording Rumours, as Christine told Uncut's Nigel Williamson in 2013.

"We were very happy for three years and then the strain of me being in the same band started to take its toll,” she said. “When you’re in the same band as somebody, you’re seeing them 24 hours a day and you start to see an awful lot of the bad side. There’s a lot of drinking and John is not the most pleasant of people when he’s drunk. Very belligerent. I was seeing more Hyde than Jekyll.”

In the same interview, John gave a similar account.

“You’ve got the pressure of being on the road and living with each other and seeing each other at their worst,” he said. “Chris saw me at my worst one time too many. I drink too much and when I’ve drunk too much, a personality comes out. It’s not very pleasant to be around. And bless her heart, Chris said, ‘I don’t want to be around this person.’ It was awful. You’re told by someone you adore and love that they don’t want you in their life anymore.”

By the time recording sessions for Rumours started, the couple wasn't speaking to each other. Not only that, but Christine had started an affair with Curry Grant, the band's lighting director.

Related: This 1977 Classic Ranked the 'Best Breakup Song' of All Time

“Wherever John was, he couldn’t be,” Christine said. “There were some very delicate moments.”

To make matters even more complicated, "You Make Loving Fun" was penned about Grant...but Christine didn't want John to know that.

As Rumours producer Ken Caillat revealed in the book, Making Rumours: The Inside Story of the Classic Fleetwood Mac Album, in an attempt to spare John's feelings, Christine told him the song was really about her dog.

Interestingly enough, the emotional fireworks that exploded during the recording of the tune came from Buckingham and Nicks, not the McVies.

According to Caillat, the couple suddenly started screaming at each other while recording background vocals.

“Stevie suddenly looked at Lindsey and cried out, ‘F—k you! You can go to hell!’ Lindsey responded with a tirade of his own. ‘When we get back to LA, I’m moving out,'" Caillat wrote.

At the end of the day, Rumours was the first album in history to spawn four top 10 singles. As Caillat put it, "Rumours probably succeeded because it was brilliant group therapy in which we all — wittingly or unwittingly — participated.”

Duggar Family Scandals Explained After Another '19 Kids and Counting' Arrest

Wed, 03/18/2026 - 7:05pm

Duggar family scandals have plagued Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar and their 19 kids through the years, resulting in the cancellation of not one but two TLC reality TV series. Most recently, their son, Joseph Duggar, was arrested for child molestation.

Let's take a closer look at the legal and personal challenges faced by the former 19 Kids and Counting and Counting On family.

Joseph Duggar Was Reportedly Arrested for Alleged Child Molestation

On March 17, the Bay County Sheriff’s Office in Florida arrested Joseph, 31, and charged him with Lewd and Lascivious Behavior Conducted By A Person 18 Years Or Older, the BCSO wrote in a March 18 statement on Facebook.

"On March 18, 2026, Bay County investigators were contacted by a detective with the Tontitown Police Department regarding a report of past sexual abuse," the post read. "The 14-year-old victim participated in a forensic interview, where she disclosed several incidents involving Duggar that occurred during a family vacation in Panama City Beach when she was 9-years-old."

It continued, "According to the investigation, the incidents took place in 2020 while the family was staying at a residence on Danny Drive. The victim reported Duggar repeatedly asked her to sit on his lap. As the vacation continued, he also asked her to sit next to him on a couch and covered them with a blanket. During this time, Duggar manipulated the victim’s underwear and grazed her genitals. Duggar would also continue to rub his hands on her thighs. The victim stated Duggar eventually apologized for his actions and the incidents stopped after the apology."

Josh Duggar Is Serving Prison Time for Child Sexual Abuse Material

In December 2021, Josh Duggar, 38, was convicted on federal charges of receiving and possessing child sexual abuse material (CSAM). He was sentenced in May 2022 to more than 12 years in prison. Currently, Josh is serving his sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution in Seagoville, Texas.

TLC cancelled Counting On ahead of the trial.

A 2015 data breach of Ashley Madison, an online dating service that facilitates affairs, Josh was among the users whose data was hacked and publicly released.

"I have been the biggest hypocrite ever," Josh said in a statement at the time, per CNN. "While espousing faith and family values, I have secretly over the last several years been viewing pornography on the internet and this became a secret addiction and I became unfaithful to my wife,” Duggar said in a statement Thursday.

Josh continued, "I brought hurt and a reproach to my family, close friends and the fans of our show with my actions that happened when I was 14-15 years old, and now I have re-broken their trust."

Josh Inappropriately Touched His Sisters & an Unrelated Child as a Teen

Earlier in 2015, the scandal involving Josh came to light, which effectively canceled 19 Kids and Counting. Josh was 14 when he confessed to his parents that he touched several of his sisters inappropriately while they were sleeping, a bombshell report from In Touch Weekly revealed. Several more incidents of similar behavior happened, including with an unrelated child.

"James said that after these incidents, he met with the elders of his church and told them what was going on," a leaked police report read, of Jim Bob. "James said that they all agreed that [Josh, redacted] needed to be put in a treatment program."

Josh started the program in March 2002, one year after the first confession, and no legal action was taken.

After the news came to light, Josh resigned from his position with the Family Research Council, a Christian lobby group.

“Twelve years ago, as a young teenager, I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret. I hurt others, including my family and close friends,” he said in a statement posted on the Duggar family's Facebook account. Country Music Legend, 92, Announces New Album & Fans Are Calling the Title Track a 'True Inspiration'

Wed, 03/18/2026 - 6:45pm

At 92 years old, it would certainly be understandable if Willie Nelson were to start slowing down musically...but it doesn't look like that's going to happen anytime soon. Instead, the country music icon just announced the impending release of a brand-new album.

Scheduled to drop on May 29 via Sony, Dream Chaser features songs co-written by Buddy Cannon, Bobby Tomberlin, and Nelson's recent Outlaw Music Festival tourmate, Bob Dylan (on the track “I Can’t Read Your Mind"), according to Brooklyn Vegan.

While fans might have to wait to hear that particular Dylan/Nelson collab, the album's title track has already been shared. The lyrics are sure to hit home for longtime listeners:

"Today I looked in the mirror / And I caught me by surprise / The man I saw lookin’ back at me I almost didn’t recognize / Wasn’t I just a kid movin’ to Tennessee / With an old guitar and eyes full of stars / Chasin’ a crazy dream"

Commenters on YouTube couldn't get enough of the new tune.

"Looking in the mirror with those same 'eyes full of stars' today. Thank you for showing us that it’s worth every single mile, Willie. A true inspiration for every dream chaser out here," one person wrote.

"Yet another great song from one of the world's best singer/song writers," a second fan added, with a third chiming in to say, "Such a gift from you Willie! I'm so glad you are still making the music!"

"This man is a damn legend," declared someone else.

Fans on Instagram were equally enthusiastic about the upcoming album, with one calling it a "dream come true" and another saying they were "SO excited."

The legendary musician isn't stopping at a new album. He's also got a series of concerts planned for April and May, including shows in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina and Texas (mostly with Drayton Farley).

Nelson's annual Luck Reunion SXSW-week event in Texas is also coming up on March 19, with this year's festival featuring appearances by the likes of St. Vincent, Booker T. Jones, Robert Lester Folsom, Trampled by Turtles, and others.

9 Tactics High-Level Gaslighters Use That Most People Miss

Wed, 03/18/2026 - 6:40pm

Gaslighting is all over the place—social media, podcasts, self-help Substacks, you name it. Yet, one psychologist shares that the buzz around gaslighting has turned its actual definition into a game of telephone, and it's gotten misinterpreted along the way.

"While it's good that society's awareness of gaslighting has increased, it has become too often misconstrued as little more than lying or contradicting others," says Dr. Deborah Vinall, Psy.D., LMFT, the Chief Psychological Consultant with Recovered.org. "Accusations of 'gaslighting' are now frequently used to shut down dialogue and avoid confrontation."

That said, Dr. Vinall—who authored Gaslighting: A Step-by-Step Recovery Guide—isn't advocating that we overcorrect and stop recognizing the signs of gaslighting. It can and does happen to people.

"Gaslighting is a pattern of manipulation and control using bold lies designed to make you doubt your own senses, intuition and memory," she clarifies. "It is an insidious form of psychological abuse."

Unfortunately, some people are really good at gaslighting. You could call them "high-level" gaslighters, and they have the playbook down pat. The problem is that many of us struggle to spot high-level gaslighting tactics, and it can have devastating consequences.

"Having a high-level gaslighter in your life means a loss of control," she shares. "It means being constantly unsure of what is true."

As a result, you may find yourself questioning your own truth, losing contact with loved ones and suffering emotionally and mentally. You deserve to protect your peace, so Dr. Vinall shares nine tactics high-level gaslighters use that most people miss. Scroll on to learn how to spot them.

What Is a High-Level Gaslighter?

Richard Drury/Getty Images

"A high-level gaslighter is someone who effectively employs gaslighting to gain and maintain control over others," Dr. Vinall shares.

The term isn't clinical, but, in other words, a high-level gaslighter is a skilled gaslighter. Gaslighting is a form of manipulation and control. High-level gaslighters are extra subtle in how they conduct their business.

But you may find yourself wondering if you and they live on the same planet and experience the same reality. That's by design.

"They craft an alternate reality and insist upon it until you are uncertain what is true or are convinced of their lies," she explains.

It's devastating. Any gaslighting—especially high-level gaslighting—can trigger stress, anxiety and isolation.

"Life with such gaslighters erodes self-confidence and self-esteem. It leads to chronic stress and anxiety," the psychologist adds. "The behaviors associated with chronic gaslighting also leave you with a shrunken circle of support."

9 Tactics Used by High-Level Gaslighters That Most People Miss, According to a Psychologist1. Shrinking your inner circle

If you're dealing with a high-level gaslighter, you may wake up one day and realize your inner circle is much smaller. You might even barely swap memes with the person you once met for coffee daily.

"Gaslighters diminish your support system by trying to change your positive opinions of them, competing with others for your attention and laying guilt trips when you spend time with others," Dr. Vinall shares.

The problem is that gaslighters might make it sound like they are looking out for you or simply want to spend more time with you, which can be flattering. But that's not their real endgame.

"The purpose is to increase your dependency on them and decrease outside voices who could call out their lies," she says.

Related: 8 Phrases High-Level Gaslighters Often Use, According to Psychologists

2. Victim or hero narrative (often alternating between both)

The regular plot twists with high-level gaslighters become disorienting.

"Gaslighters are motivated by buried insecurity," Dr. Vinall reveals. "Instead of building relationships through confidence and authenticity, they manipulate others into staying near them by trying to extract pity or using grandiosity to impress. They frequently alternate between both approaches."

3. Firehose of lies

Perhaps surprisingly, Dr. Vinall reports that gaslighters aren't necessarily trying to convince you that their endless, rapid stream of lies has any validity. Instead, she says that a high-level gaslighter wants to keep you off balance.

"As you try to make sense of each story, the next lie arrives, leaving you insufficient time to get to the bottom of anything," she explains. "Things may feel 'off,' but you seldom can prove why. Ultimately, at least some of the lies stick."

4. Making harmful comparisons

Comparison is the thief of joy, and you certainly may not feel any joy if you're dealing with a skilled manipulator.

"Gaslighters intentionally attack your self-esteem so you will become more dependent on them and less sure about leaving," Dr. Vinall says. "One of the ways they do this is by negatively comparing you to others. The intended effect is to make you feel lucky that they are willing to be with you."

People under the "spell" of a highly controlling, power-hungry gaslighter may see the comparison as a sign they need to improve.

5. Undermining your accomplishments

There's a reason this one feels so horrid: Dr. Vinall shares that undermining your accomplishments has two aims.

"It contributes to tearing down your self-confidence, and in their zero-sum worldview, it elevates them by comparison," she explains. "The weak ego of the controlling gaslighter cannot stand competition for the spotlight."

Related: 5 Unexpected Signs *You* Might Be a Narcissist, Psychologists Warn

6. Putting you down in front of others

This high-level gaslighting tactic is more than embarrassing.

"This also serves the goal of eroding your support system, while simultaneously harming your self-confidence," Dr. Vinall notes. "Gaslighters may even imagine such behavior makes them look smart."

Unfortunately, after enough time with a skilled gaslighter, you might think you deserve it.

7. Refusing accountability

High-level gaslighters never got the memo that no one is perfect.

"Gaslighters never take responsibility or admit they've been wrong," Dr. Vinall notes. "They cling to and double down on the false narratives they want others to believe."

High-level gaslighters are so good at it that they often succeed.

8. Splitting

This one can fracture long-standing, deep relationships. It also ensures the non-gaslighters in a friend group, family or workplace can't find strength in numbers.

"Gaslighters split others by controlling communication between two previously connected parties," Dr. Vinall warns. "Doing so allows them to control narratives and push their alternative reality."

9. Transactionalism

You may start to wonder whether everything is conditional or comes with strings when dealing with a high-level gaslighter.

"With gaslighters, everything comes at a cost," Dr. Vinall says. "There is no reciprocity or generosity because the sole concern is getting what they want."

Related: How To Deal With a Narcissistic Parent, According to Psychologists

How To Respond to High-Level Gaslighting1. Understand the cycle

To break free from gaslighting, Dr. Vinall notes you need to learn their tactics and cycles. This education lets you spot them in action, which is empowering, but the process isn't easy.

"This may bring up a lot of emotion, including shame, self-doubt and grief over a relationship you valued," she says. "Getting support from a therapist can be helpful to work through this stage.

2. Keep detailed records

Dr. Vinall suggests taking notes in meetings with gaslighting bosses, journaling daily or recording conversations.

"This empowers you by creating a record you can refer back to when you begin to feel 'crazy' or doubt your own memories in response to ongoing gaslighting," Dr. Vinall points out.

3. Set boundaries and make decisions

Dr. Vinall says boundaries protect you physically and emotionally.

"Depending on your proximity and relationship dynamic with the gaslighter, setting communication boundaries may create sufficient distance to reduce or remove the impact of their behaviors on your emotional well-being," she shares.

She explains that it may not be possible to go no-contact with a high-level gaslighter, such as if you share legal custody of a child. In other cases, it's worth considering.

"If the gaslighter is a boss, clergyperson, parent or partner, recognizing the dysfunctional and damaging behavior patterns may lead you to explore ceasing contact to protect and rebuild your self-esteem," Dr. Vinall states.

'Big Little Lies' Author Liane Moriarty Announces New Sequel Book—With a Twist

Wed, 03/18/2026 - 6:23pm

Liane Moriarty has more Big Little Lies to tell.

The author behind the best-selling book that inspired HBO's Big Little Lies has officially announced a new sequel, Big Little Truths, set to hit bookshelves later this year.

Big Little Truths Will Provide the Season 3 Plot—But With a Twist

Moriarty's new novel, Big Little Truths, not only serves as a sequel to her 2014 book Big Little Lies, but it will also provide source material for the upcoming third season of the Emmy-winning HBO series.

The hit show—starring Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern and Zoe Kravtiz—premiered in 2017, followed by its second season in 2019. (Moriarty previously wrote an unpublished novella to serve as the basis for Season 2 of the series.)

But there's a twist with Moriarty's upcoming novel, in that it will feature a major time jump, taking place 10 years after the original story.

View this post on Instagram

Big Little Truths, which is Moriarty's first-ever sequel, will pick up a decade after where the first book leaves off, with returning characters like Madeline, Celeste, Renata and Jane, who, in the first book, found themselves caught up in secrets and lies regarding a murder in their affluent community.

The sequel will focus on the women's children, like Ziggy, Amabella and Chloe, who are now teenagers navigating high school when they reconnect at Madeline's 50th birthday—and like with their parents, trouble eventually ensues.

Moriarty revealed to USA Today, that the plot involves a "strange man lurking around the school," a "severed finger" sent to the high school principal's office and plenty of the usual teenage topics, like drugs, sex and alcohol.

"In the first book, the parents at the school, they provide the Greek chorus explaining the action and what happened," Moriarty told the outlet. "In this book, the teenagers − the kids − are the Greek chorus. So they're being interviewed about what happened. So the first thing that happens is they say, 'Well, it all began at Madeline's 50th birthday.'"

Moriarty further teased the plot of the new book on Instagram, writing, "Now, in Big Little Truths, the kids are teens, their parents are older (but not necessarily wiser) and old secrets and new truths are about to catch up with everyone."

When Is Big Little Lies Season 3 Coming Out?

Both Kidman and Witherspoon have confirmed a third season of Big Little Lies, though a release date has not yet been set.

In September 2025, Deadline reported that Season 3 was currently in development at HBO, with writer Francesca Sloane working on the first episode at the time.

Sloane is also set to executive produce the new season, along with series creator David E. Kelley, as well as stars Kidman and Witherspoon.

In the meantime, while fans wait for an official premiere date of the new series, Moriarty's new book, Big Little Truths, will be hitting bookstores on Aug. 25.

First TV Adaptation of 1954 Best-Selling Book Is Coming to Netflix

Wed, 03/18/2026 - 6:12pm

An adaptation of a book you probably read in high school is coming to Netflix.

Lord of the Flies, the classic novel written by William Golding, was adapted into a television drama series by BBC iPlayer and BBC One. The story follows a group of young boys who become stranded on a tropical island in the Pacific Ocean following a plane crash. Ralph (Winston Sawyers), one of the boys, attempts to lead the group, with the help of his friend Piggy (David McKenna), in hopes of surviving and being rescued. But another boy named Jack (Lox Pratt) starts a rebellion and their society starts to fall apart. The show was developed and written by Adolescenceco-creator Jack Thorne and directed by Marc Munden.

Lord of the Flies was the debut novel for Golding. The British author was inspired by The Coral Island, a children's book that was focused on Christianity and the supposed civilizing influence of British colonialism. Golding thought the book was unrealistic, and asked his wife, "Wouldn’t it be a good idea if I wrote a book about children on an island, children who behave in the way children really would behave?"

The novel represents the author's vision of the reality of boys left to their own devices and is a world very different from The Coral Island. In a letter written to The Guardian in 2018 by Golding's daughter Judy Golding Carver, she revealed that her father said "that the novel was about the importance of the rule of law. It was also about the complexity of human beings."

"My father greatly distrusted simple judgments. He was careful to give Jack some good qualities and to make him attractive," Judy Golding Carver wrote. "It’s possible to imagine that under different circumstances, Jack and Ralph would have been friends, would have helped each other’s weaknesses, and admired each other’s strengths. But the author shows that this cannot happen on the island because the boys in their isolation are suffering unchecked 'from the terrible disease of being human.'"

Though Lord of the Flies is one of the most popular assigned books in middle and high schools across the nation, the book was rejected by many publishers before being accepted by Faber & Faber. It was then officially published in the United Kingdom on Sept. 17, 1954.

Though this is the first television adaptation of the novel, the book has multiple film adaptations, including 1963 and 1990 movies with the same title directed by Peter Brook and Harry Hook, respectively. In addition, there is a Filipino version, titled Alkitrang Dugo, that was released in 1975 and directed by Lupita A. Concio. There have also been multiple stage productions of Lord of the Flies — the first one taking place at the Clifton College Preparatory School in Bristol, England, in 1984, then bigger productions like the Royal Shakespeare Company toured around the United Kingdom and the world, years later.

Golding's book also inspired the 2021 TV series, Yellowjackets, a dual-timeline thriller following a high school girls' soccer team whose plane crashes in 1996, forcing them to survive in the Canadian wilderness.

Country Star Cancels Shows, Announces Touring Break to Seek ‘Professional’ Help

Wed, 03/18/2026 - 6:06pm

Randall King is putting his touring life on pause to focus on what matters most — family, faith, and mental health. The country music star, 35, turned to social media to announce his decision to step back from the road in a lengthy post on social media.

On Wednesday, March 18, King reflected on his music career, writing via Instagram: “It’s easy to get lost in this world. Sometimes you have no idea how deep into it you are until you step back and look.”

View this post on Instagram

He went on to add that although he will not be performing live shows anytime soon, he has put a lot of thought into the decision and ultimately feels his past choices have “affected the people I love the most.”

He Feels He Is Not Ready to Be On Stage at This Time

“Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve dug deep and taken a hard look at areas of my life that need serious attention and change because not only have my choices affected myself, they have affected the people I love the most,” he wrote, adding. “My faith comes first, and right now I don’t feel right stepping on stage without the confidence I’m living as the man God has called me to be.”

He Listed a Series of Canceled and Postponed Dates

In his message, King shared a string of tour dates that have either been postponed or canceled. Texas, Arizona, and California are among the locations where he will no longer perform.

“I’m pausing touring for the time being. I’m actively seeking professional help and focusing on my Faith, my health, my mental health, and my family,” King wrote, adding that he plans to grow his relationship with God while he works on his personal life. “I believe God gave me the gift of music to impact lives and do his will, and he will guide me on the path to healing. But I have to let go, surrender, face the problems, and accept the help of people who understand better what I’m going through."

Although he is taking a break, for now, King acknowledges the difficulties that he faces with putting his career on hold.

He wrote, “It’s so hard for me to cancel shows because touring has been my life for the last decade. But for the sake of my faith, my family, and my fans, I have to be authentic in this change in my life, and walk by Faith. Let me take this time, commit to getting well, and through this, return stronger, focused, and more grateful than ever.”

King closed out his message by sharing his deep appreciation for his fans and supporters, as well as those who have sent prayers

“Thank you to everyone who has supported me and prayed for me,” he wrote. “I’ve always looked at music as a way to heal, but this is bigger than music. I appreciate any prayers you have. Through God’s grace and mercy, I will rise from this and see y'all soon.”

Zendaya Wears a Very Familiar Wedding Dress to Her Movie Premiere

Wed, 03/18/2026 - 5:53pm

Ms. Zendaya (or maybe it's Mrs. now, we still don't know...) hit the red carpet at the premiere of her upcoming film, The Drama, wearing none other than a wedding dress! Smart move, PR team. Smart move. And the very cool thing about this particular off-the-shoulder white wedding dress is that we've actually seen it before. On Zendaya.

Zendaya and fiancé, actor Tom Holland, have been dodging wedding rumors for a steady few weeks since Zendaya's long-time stylist, Law Roach, claimed the celebrity couple already tied the knot, and then, of course, a bunch of AI-generated wedding photos depicting the couple circulated the interwebs. It's been quite the game of "Are they or aren't they?" but the couple isn't saying boo either way.

The Euphoria actress sure does seem to be enjoying all the confusion and curiosity now. In fact, like every hot celeb trying to find new and original ways to work the public relations algorithm, Zendaya seems to be playing into the storytelling now. She actually dusted off the Vivienne Westwood wedding gown (yes, it's an actual wedding gown) she wore to 2015 Oscars and rewore it to the Los Angeles premiere of her new film with Robert Pattinson.

She's also continuing to wear a gold band that's been stirring up conversation since Paris Fashion Week.

19 Kids and Counting's Joseph Duggar Reportedly Arrested for Child Molestation

Wed, 03/18/2026 - 5:52pm

19 Kids and Counting's Joseph Duggar has reportedly been arrested.

According to Florida news outlet WJHG 7, the former reality star, 31, has been arrested and charged for Lewd and Lascivious Behavior, involving unlawful sexual activity with a minor.

The outlet notes that the Joseph Duggar arrested is the same one who appeared on the TLC show from 2008 to 2015 alongside other members of his family.

According to the Bay County Sheriff's Office Facebook, investigators were contacted on Wednesday, Mar. 18 by a police detective in Tontitown, Arkansas—where the Duggar family lives—about a report of past sexual abuse.

During a forensic interview, the 14-year-old victim disclosed incidents involving Duggar during a family vacation in Panama City Beach, Florida when she was 9.

According to the sheriff's office, the victim reported that Duggar "repeatedly asked her to sit on his lap, sit beside him on a couch, and cover them with a blanket." Duggar then allegedly made inappropriate contact with the victim and rubbed his hands on her thighs.

The victim said that Duggar eventually apologized, and that the alleged misconduct stopped after the apology.

Investigators discovered the victim’s father confronted Duggar about these incidents on March 17th, 2026, with Duggar admitting his actions to the victim’s father and to Tontitown Detectives.

Duggar was arrested out of state and faces charges of Lewd and Lascivious Behavior, including Molestation of a victim under 12 and conduct by a person 18 or older. He is currently awaiting extradition to Bay County.

Duggar has been married to Kendra Caldwell since 2017 and the pair share four young children.

This is not the first arrest for the Duggar family, either. Duggar's older brother, Josh Duggar, was convicted of possessing child sexual abuse material in 2021 and sentenced to over 12 years in prison.

The Duggar Family did not immediately respond to Parade's request for comment.

I Made the Viral Salt Bread Fans Call 'Elite'

Wed, 03/18/2026 - 5:50pm

My house is full of bread fans, and I make my own sourdough a few times a week to feed those hungry carbophiles. But you can only have the exact same type of bread so many times before you start to crave something a little different. So, when salt bread recipes started popping up in my feed, I had to see what the hype was all about.

It started with one post, and then my feed became flooded. Everyone was raving about a recipe for salt bread from Erin Lim's Erin's Cozy Kitchen. These breads are buttery, flaky and, of course, salty, to create a mouthwateringly tasty roll.

In fact, Lim's recipe has been so popular that she created both an original and no-knead version to give bakers options. This side has a lot going for it but, like nearly all breads, it requires some serious time and effort on your end before you can dive in.

If you're looking for a quick and easy bread to whip up on a weeknight, this isn't it—you need to set aside several hours to make this all come together. Even then, my results didn't look as magical as Lim's, although I picked up some helpful tricks I'm going to try the next time around. Still, salt bread was a hit with my family, who gobbled the entire batch up within an hour after they came out of the oven.

However, if you've got some time on your hands and want to branch out with your bread-making skills, this is definitely worth a try. Here's why.

Salt bread is a Japanese-style bread roll that's spread to other countries in Asia. It's now making the rounds on social media where, naturally, everyone wants to try it.

Salt bread uses plenty of butter that melts and creates a crispy crust, especially on the bottom. It's fluffy on the inside and crunchy on the outside, and the buttery inside is a real treat.

People are all about salt bread on TikTok, too. One commenter in Lim's post about her bread called it "elite," while another called this dish "the bread in my dreams."

But plenty of people in the comments also pointed out that this isn't the easiest recipe to follow. "What happened," one person wrote alongside a photo of thinner-looking rolls. Another shared round-looking mini loaves, while someone else chimed in with "IDK why it didn't get brown and hard. I did everything the recipe said."

@erin.lim

Set some solid time aside to make salt bread, because you're going to be working on this for a while. Kick things off by mixing bread flour, cake flour, sugar, salt, milk powder, yeast and cold water in a stand mixer.

Mix it with a dough hook on low speed until it forms a shaggy dough. Add in cold, unsalted butter.

Knead your dough until it's smooth and passes the windowpane test (where you can gently stretch a small piece of dough until it's thin enough for light to pass through). Shape your dough into a ball and place it in a bowl to let it rise. Cover it and let it double in size.

Once it's doubled in size, poke the dough with your finger to see if the indentation stays. If so, your dough is ready for the next step.

Degas your dough and divide it into even portions, rolling each into a ball. Cover and let these rest for 15 minutes.

Roll out your dough into a long teardrop shape, and place a piece of butter on one end, before rolling each one up.

Place each roll on a non-stick pan, seam side down. Cover your pan and let the dough rise again until doubled in size.

Preheat your oven to 450 degrees. Spray your rolls lightly with water and add pretzel salt on top. Then, generously spray your rolls with more water. Lower the oven to 450 degrees and bake your rolls for 12 to 15 minutes. Enjoy them hot out of the oven.

Salt Bread Recipe Review: My Honest Thoughts

Courtesy Korin Miller

I have a lot of thoughts on this recipe, but first, let's talk about the taste. Salt bread uses unsalted butter, salted butter and plenty of generous coarse salt on top, so of course it's going to be tasty. You get an initial crispy and salty exterior texture, followed by a flakier interior and then a buttery, salty interior.

But my final product didn't look like the gorgeous, croissant-style rolls Lim rolled out. Instead, it was more like fluffy pretzel rolls. I think I have a few ideas why, too.

The recipe doesn't proof the yeast before mixing in the flours. When I make this again, I'm definitely going to do that first to see if I can get a little more fluffiness out of my dough. My dough still rose just fine, but the final product just wasn't as fluffy as the ones in the photos.

I struggled to get my rolls to fully cook within 15 minutes, which was the top end of the range the recipe listed. I pulled them out after 15 minutes, but found they weren't browned enough and that the interior was still doughy. So, I ended up cooking these for more like 25 minutes.

Also, I couldn't get these to brown evenly. I spritzed the pre-cooked rolls all over with water based on the recipe's suggestion and still only got a little brown on top. The butter ends up pooling in the bottom of the pan, which creates a nice, crunchy bottom. But I'd like to see that crunchiness all over.

Again, this recipe takes a while to make. But if you find you've got a few hours to spend at home and you're into baking, give it a go. Just know that it make take a few round to get it right.

Final Tips and Takeaways
  • Cut your unsalted butter into small pieces. The recipe doesn't get into specifics here, but you'll have better, more evenly-distributed butter if you cut your unsalted butter in small pieces or even shave it into your dough.
  • Roll out your dough balls into very thin strips. Mine were likely a little too chunky. Thinner dough strips means more layers for air in between and potentially a fluffier final product.
  • Consider brushing the tops with butter. Experiment with brushing the tops of the dough rolls with butter to get a more even golden glow and crunch.
  • Keep a close eye on your rolls as they cook. Mine were definitely not done in 12 to 15 minutes. As a result, I kept cooking them in two-minute increments to make sure I didn't overcook them.
