9 Tactics High-Level Gaslighters Use That Most People Miss

Wed, 03/18/2026 - 6:40pm

Gaslighting is all over the place—social media, podcasts, self-help Substacks, you name it. Yet, one psychologist shares that the buzz around gaslighting has turned its actual definition into a game of telephone, and it's gotten misinterpreted along the way.

"While it's good that society's awareness of gaslighting has increased, it has become too often misconstrued as little more than lying or contradicting others," says Dr. Deborah Vinall, Psy.D., LMFT, the Chief Psychological Consultant with Recovered.org. "Accusations of 'gaslighting' are now frequently used to shut down dialogue and avoid confrontation."

That said, Dr. Vinall—who authored Gaslighting: A Step-by-Step Recovery Guide—isn't advocating that we overcorrect and stop recognizing the signs of gaslighting. It can and does happen to people.

"Gaslighting is a pattern of manipulation and control using bold lies designed to make you doubt your own senses, intuition and memory," she clarifies. "It is an insidious form of psychological abuse."

Unfortunately, some people are really good at gaslighting. You could call them "high-level" gaslighters, and they have the playbook down pat. The problem is that many of us struggle to spot high-level gaslighting tactics, and it can have devastating consequences.

"Having a high-level gaslighter in your life means a loss of control," she shares. "It means being constantly unsure of what is true."

As a result, you may find yourself questioning your own truth, losing contact with loved ones and suffering emotionally and mentally. You deserve to protect your peace, so Dr. Vinall shares nine tactics high-level gaslighters use that most people miss. Scroll on to learn how to spot them.

What Is a High-Level Gaslighter?

Richard Drury/Getty Images

"A high-level gaslighter is someone who effectively employs gaslighting to gain and maintain control over others," Dr. Vinall shares.

The term isn't clinical, but, in other words, a high-level gaslighter is a skilled gaslighter. Gaslighting is a form of manipulation and control. High-level gaslighters are extra subtle in how they conduct their business.

But you may find yourself wondering if you and they live on the same planet and experience the same reality. That's by design.

"They craft an alternate reality and insist upon it until you are uncertain what is true or are convinced of their lies," she explains.

It's devastating. Any gaslighting—especially high-level gaslighting—can trigger stress, anxiety and isolation.

"Life with such gaslighters erodes self-confidence and self-esteem. It leads to chronic stress and anxiety," the psychologist adds. "The behaviors associated with chronic gaslighting also leave you with a shrunken circle of support."

9 Tactics Used by High-Level Gaslighters That Most People Miss, According to a Psychologist1. Shrinking your inner circle

If you're dealing with a high-level gaslighter, you may wake up one day and realize your inner circle is much smaller. You might even barely swap memes with the person you once met for coffee daily.

"Gaslighters diminish your support system by trying to change your positive opinions of them, competing with others for your attention and laying guilt trips when you spend time with others," Dr. Vinall shares.

The problem is that gaslighters might make it sound like they are looking out for you or simply want to spend more time with you, which can be flattering. But that's not their real endgame.

"The purpose is to increase your dependency on them and decrease outside voices who could call out their lies," she says.

2. Victim or hero narrative (often alternating between both)

The regular plot twists with high-level gaslighters become disorienting.

"Gaslighters are motivated by buried insecurity," Dr. Vinall reveals. "Instead of building relationships through confidence and authenticity, they manipulate others into staying near them by trying to extract pity or using grandiosity to impress. They frequently alternate between both approaches."

3. Firehose of lies

Perhaps surprisingly, Dr. Vinall reports that gaslighters aren't necessarily trying to convince you that their endless, rapid stream of lies has any validity. Instead, she says that a high-level gaslighter wants to keep you off balance.

"As you try to make sense of each story, the next lie arrives, leaving you insufficient time to get to the bottom of anything," she explains. "Things may feel 'off,' but you seldom can prove why. Ultimately, at least some of the lies stick."

4. Making harmful comparisons

Comparison is the thief of joy, and you certainly may not feel any joy if you're dealing with a skilled manipulator.

"Gaslighters intentionally attack your self-esteem so you will become more dependent on them and less sure about leaving," Dr. Vinall says. "One of the ways they do this is by negatively comparing you to others. The intended effect is to make you feel lucky that they are willing to be with you."

People under the "spell" of a highly controlling, power-hungry gaslighter may see the comparison as a sign they need to improve.

5. Undermining your accomplishments

There's a reason this one feels so horrid: Dr. Vinall shares that undermining your accomplishments has two aims.

"It contributes to tearing down your self-confidence, and in their zero-sum worldview, it elevates them by comparison," she explains. "The weak ego of the controlling gaslighter cannot stand competition for the spotlight."

Related: 5 Unexpected Signs *You* Might Be a Narcissist, Psychologists Warn

6. Putting you down in front of others

This high-level gaslighting tactic is more than embarrassing.

"This also serves the goal of eroding your support system, while simultaneously harming your self-confidence," Dr. Vinall notes. "Gaslighters may even imagine such behavior makes them look smart."

Unfortunately, after enough time with a skilled gaslighter, you might think you deserve it.

7. Refusing accountability

High-level gaslighters never got the memo that no one is perfect.

"Gaslighters never take responsibility or admit they've been wrong," Dr. Vinall notes. "They cling to and double down on the false narratives they want others to believe."

High-level gaslighters are so good at it that they often succeed.

8. Splitting

This one can fracture long-standing, deep relationships. It also ensures the non-gaslighters in a friend group, family or workplace can't find strength in numbers.

"Gaslighters split others by controlling communication between two previously connected parties," Dr. Vinall warns. "Doing so allows them to control narratives and push their alternative reality."

9. Transactionalism

You may start to wonder whether everything is conditional or comes with strings when dealing with a high-level gaslighter.

"With gaslighters, everything comes at a cost," Dr. Vinall says. "There is no reciprocity or generosity because the sole concern is getting what they want."

How To Respond to High-Level Gaslighting1. Understand the cycle

To break free from gaslighting, Dr. Vinall notes you need to learn their tactics and cycles. This education lets you spot them in action, which is empowering, but the process isn't easy.

"This may bring up a lot of emotion, including shame, self-doubt and grief over a relationship you valued," she says. "Getting support from a therapist can be helpful to work through this stage.

2. Keep detailed records

Dr. Vinall suggests taking notes in meetings with gaslighting bosses, journaling daily or recording conversations.

"This empowers you by creating a record you can refer back to when you begin to feel 'crazy' or doubt your own memories in response to ongoing gaslighting," Dr. Vinall points out.

3. Set boundaries and make decisions

Dr. Vinall says boundaries protect you physically and emotionally.

"Depending on your proximity and relationship dynamic with the gaslighter, setting communication boundaries may create sufficient distance to reduce or remove the impact of their behaviors on your emotional well-being," she shares.

She explains that it may not be possible to go no-contact with a high-level gaslighter, such as if you share legal custody of a child. In other cases, it's worth considering.

"If the gaslighter is a boss, clergyperson, parent or partner, recognizing the dysfunctional and damaging behavior patterns may lead you to explore ceasing contact to protect and rebuild your self-esteem," Dr. Vinall states.

'Big Little Lies' Author Liane Moriarty Announces New Sequel Book—With a Twist

Wed, 03/18/2026 - 6:23pm

Liane Moriarty has more Big Little Lies to tell.

The author behind the best-selling book that inspired HBO's Big Little Lies has officially announced a new sequel, Big Little Truths, set to hit bookshelves later this year.

Big Little Truths Will Provide the Season 3 Plot—But With a Twist

Moriarty's new novel, Big Little Truths, not only serves as a sequel to her 2014 book Big Little Lies, but it will also provide source material for the upcoming third season of the Emmy-winning HBO series.

The hit show—starring Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern and Zoe Kravtiz—premiered in 2017, followed by its second season in 2019. (Moriarty previously wrote an unpublished novella to serve as the basis for Season 2 of the series.)

But there's a twist with Moriarty's upcoming novel, in that it will feature a major time jump, taking place 10 years after the original story.

View this post on Instagram

Big Little Truths, which is Moriarty's first-ever sequel, will pick up a decade after where the first book leaves off, with returning characters like Madeline, Celeste, Renata and Jane, who, in the first book, found themselves caught up in secrets and lies regarding a murder in their affluent community.

The sequel will focus on the women's children, like Ziggy, Amabella and Chloe, who are now teenagers navigating high school when they reconnect at Madeline's 50th birthday—and like with their parents, trouble eventually ensues.

Moriarty revealed to USA Today, that the plot involves a "strange man lurking around the school," a "severed finger" sent to the high school principal's office and plenty of the usual teenage topics, like drugs, sex and alcohol.

"In the first book, the parents at the school, they provide the Greek chorus explaining the action and what happened," Moriarty told the outlet. "In this book, the teenagers − the kids − are the Greek chorus. So they're being interviewed about what happened. So the first thing that happens is they say, 'Well, it all began at Madeline's 50th birthday.'"

Moriarty further teased the plot of the new book on Instagram, writing, "Now, in Big Little Truths, the kids are teens, their parents are older (but not necessarily wiser) and old secrets and new truths are about to catch up with everyone."

When Is Big Little Lies Season 3 Coming Out?

Both Kidman and Witherspoon have confirmed a third season of Big Little Lies, though a release date has not yet been set.

In September 2025, Deadline reported that Season 3 was currently in development at HBO, with writer Francesca Sloane working on the first episode at the time.

Sloane is also set to executive produce the new season, along with series creator David E. Kelley, as well as stars Kidman and Witherspoon.

In the meantime, while fans wait for an official premiere date of the new series, Moriarty's new book, Big Little Truths, will be hitting bookstores on Aug. 25.

First TV Adaptation of 1954 Best-Selling Book Is Coming to Netflix

Wed, 03/18/2026 - 6:12pm

An adaptation of a book you probably read in high school is coming to Netflix.

Lord of the Flies, the classic novel written by William Golding, was adapted into a television drama series by BBC iPlayer and BBC One. The story follows a group of young boys who become stranded on a tropical island in the Pacific Ocean following a plane crash. Ralph (Winston Sawyers), one of the boys, attempts to lead the group, with the help of his friend Piggy (David McKenna), in hopes of surviving and being rescued. But another boy named Jack (Lox Pratt) starts a rebellion and their society starts to fall apart. The show was developed and written by Adolescenceco-creator Jack Thorne and directed by Marc Munden.

Lord of the Flies was the debut novel for Golding. The British author was inspired by The Coral Island, a children's book that was focused on Christianity and the supposed civilizing influence of British colonialism. Golding thought the book was unrealistic, and asked his wife, "Wouldn’t it be a good idea if I wrote a book about children on an island, children who behave in the way children really would behave?"

The novel represents the author's vision of the reality of boys left to their own devices and is a world very different from The Coral Island. In a letter written to The Guardian in 2018 by Golding's daughter Judy Golding Carver, she revealed that her father said "that the novel was about the importance of the rule of law. It was also about the complexity of human beings."

"My father greatly distrusted simple judgments. He was careful to give Jack some good qualities and to make him attractive," Judy Golding Carver wrote. "It’s possible to imagine that under different circumstances, Jack and Ralph would have been friends, would have helped each other’s weaknesses, and admired each other’s strengths. But the author shows that this cannot happen on the island because the boys in their isolation are suffering unchecked 'from the terrible disease of being human.'"

Though Lord of the Flies is one of the most popular assigned books in middle and high schools across the nation, the book was rejected by many publishers before being accepted by Faber & Faber. It was then officially published in the United Kingdom on Sept. 17, 1954.

Though this is the first television adaptation of the novel, the book has multiple film adaptations, including 1963 and 1990 movies with the same title directed by Peter Brook and Harry Hook, respectively. In addition, there is a Filipino version, titled Alkitrang Dugo, that was released in 1975 and directed by Lupita A. Concio. There have also been multiple stage productions of Lord of the Flies — the first one taking place at the Clifton College Preparatory School in Bristol, England, in 1984, then bigger productions like the Royal Shakespeare Company toured around the United Kingdom and the world, years later.

Golding's book also inspired the 2021 TV series, Yellowjackets, a dual-timeline thriller following a high school girls' soccer team whose plane crashes in 1996, forcing them to survive in the Canadian wilderness.

Country Star Cancels Shows, Announces Touring Break to Seek ‘Professional’ Help

Wed, 03/18/2026 - 6:06pm

Randall King is putting his touring life on pause to focus on what matters most — family, faith, and mental health. The country music star, 35, turned to social media to announce his decision to step back from the road in a lengthy post on social media.

On Wednesday, March 18, King reflected on his music career, writing via Instagram: “It’s easy to get lost in this world. Sometimes you have no idea how deep into it you are until you step back and look.”

View this post on Instagram

He went on to add that although he will not be performing live shows anytime soon, he has put a lot of thought into the decision and ultimately feels his past choices have “affected the people I love the most.”

He Feels He Is Not Ready to Be On Stage at This Time

“Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve dug deep and taken a hard look at areas of my life that need serious attention and change because not only have my choices affected myself, they have affected the people I love the most,” he wrote, adding. “My faith comes first, and right now I don’t feel right stepping on stage without the confidence I’m living as the man God has called me to be.”

He Listed a Series of Canceled and Postponed Dates

In his message, King shared a string of tour dates that have either been postponed or canceled. Texas, Arizona, and California are among the locations where he will no longer perform.

“I’m pausing touring for the time being. I’m actively seeking professional help and focusing on my Faith, my health, my mental health, and my family,” King wrote, adding that he plans to grow his relationship with God while he works on his personal life. “I believe God gave me the gift of music to impact lives and do his will, and he will guide me on the path to healing. But I have to let go, surrender, face the problems, and accept the help of people who understand better what I’m going through."

Although he is taking a break, for now, King acknowledges the difficulties that he faces with putting his career on hold.

He wrote, “It’s so hard for me to cancel shows because touring has been my life for the last decade. But for the sake of my faith, my family, and my fans, I have to be authentic in this change in my life, and walk by Faith. Let me take this time, commit to getting well, and through this, return stronger, focused, and more grateful than ever.”

King closed out his message by sharing his deep appreciation for his fans and supporters, as well as those who have sent prayers

“Thank you to everyone who has supported me and prayed for me,” he wrote. “I’ve always looked at music as a way to heal, but this is bigger than music. I appreciate any prayers you have. Through God’s grace and mercy, I will rise from this and see y'all soon.”

Zendaya Wears a Very Familiar Wedding Dress to Her Movie Premiere

Wed, 03/18/2026 - 5:53pm

Ms. Zendaya (or maybe it's Mrs. now, we still don't know...) hit the red carpet at the premiere of her upcoming film, The Drama, wearing none other than a wedding dress! Smart move, PR team. Smart move. And the very cool thing about this particular off-the-shoulder white wedding dress is that we've actually seen it before. On Zendaya.

Zendaya and fiancé, actor Tom Holland, have been dodging wedding rumors for a steady few weeks since Zendaya's long-time stylist, Law Roach, claimed the celebrity couple already tied the knot, and then, of course, a bunch of AI-generated wedding photos depicting the couple circulated the interwebs. It's been quite the game of "Are they or aren't they?" but the couple isn't saying boo either way.

The Euphoria actress sure does seem to be enjoying all the confusion and curiosity now. In fact, like every hot celeb trying to find new and original ways to work the public relations algorithm, Zendaya seems to be playing into the storytelling now. She actually dusted off the Vivienne Westwood wedding gown (yes, it's an actual wedding gown) she wore to 2015 Oscars and rewore it to the Los Angeles premiere of her new film with Robert Pattinson.

She's also continuing to wear a gold band that's been stirring up conversation since Paris Fashion Week.

19 Kids and Counting's Joseph Duggar Reportedly Arrested for Child Molestation

Wed, 03/18/2026 - 5:52pm

19 Kids and Counting's Joseph Duggar has reportedly been arrested.

According to Florida news outlet WJHG 7, the former reality star, 31, has been arrested and charged for Lewd and Lascivious Behavior, involving unlawful sexual activity with a minor.

The outlet notes that the Joseph Duggar arrested is the same one who appeared on the TLC show from 2008 to 2015 alongside other members of his family.

According to the Bay County Sheriff's Office Facebook, investigators were contacted on Wednesday, Mar. 18 by a police detective in Tontitown, Arkansas—where the Duggar family lives—about a report of past sexual abuse.

During a forensic interview, the 14-year-old victim disclosed incidents involving Duggar during a family vacation in Panama City Beach, Florida when she was 9.

According to the sheriff's office, the victim reported that Duggar "repeatedly asked her to sit on his lap, sit beside him on a couch, and cover them with a blanket." Duggar then allegedly made inappropriate contact with the victim and rubbed his hands on her thighs.

The victim said that Duggar eventually apologized, and that the alleged misconduct stopped after the apology.

Investigators discovered the victim’s father confronted Duggar about these incidents on March 17th, 2026, with Duggar admitting his actions to the victim’s father and to Tontitown Detectives.

Duggar was arrested out of state and faces charges of Lewd and Lascivious Behavior, including Molestation of a victim under 12 and conduct by a person 18 or older. He is currently awaiting extradition to Bay County.

Duggar has been married to Kendra Caldwell since 2017 and the pair share four young children.

This is not the first arrest for the Duggar family, either. Duggar's older brother, Josh Duggar, was convicted of possessing child sexual abuse material in 2021 and sentenced to over 12 years in prison.

The Duggar Family did not immediately respond to Parade's request for comment.

I Made the Viral Salt Bread Fans Call 'Elite'

Wed, 03/18/2026 - 5:50pm

My house is full of bread fans, and I make my own sourdough a few times a week to feed those hungry carbophiles. But you can only have the exact same type of bread so many times before you start to crave something a little different. So, when salt bread recipes started popping up in my feed, I had to see what the hype was all about.

It started with one post, and then my feed became flooded. Everyone was raving about a recipe for salt bread from Erin Lim's Erin's Cozy Kitchen. These breads are buttery, flaky and, of course, salty, to create a mouthwateringly tasty roll.

In fact, Lim's recipe has been so popular that she created both an original and no-knead version to give bakers options. This side has a lot going for it but, like nearly all breads, it requires some serious time and effort on your end before you can dive in.

If you're looking for a quick and easy bread to whip up on a weeknight, this isn't it—you need to set aside several hours to make this all come together. Even then, my results didn't look as magical as Lim's, although I picked up some helpful tricks I'm going to try the next time around. Still, salt bread was a hit with my family, who gobbled the entire batch up within an hour after they came out of the oven.

However, if you've got some time on your hands and want to branch out with your bread-making skills, this is definitely worth a try. Here's why.

What Is Salt Bread and What Are People Saying About It?

Salt bread is a Japanese-style bread roll that's spread to other countries in Asia. It's now making the rounds on social media where, naturally, everyone wants to try it.

Salt bread uses plenty of butter that melts and creates a crispy crust, especially on the bottom. It's fluffy on the inside and crunchy on the outside, and the buttery inside is a real treat.

People are all about salt bread on TikTok, too. One commenter in Lim's post about her bread called it "elite," while another called this dish "the bread in my dreams."

But plenty of people in the comments also pointed out that this isn't the easiest recipe to follow. "What happened," one person wrote alongside a photo of thinner-looking rolls. Another shared round-looking mini loaves, while someone else chimed in with "IDK why it didn't get brown and hard. I did everything the recipe said."

@erin.lim

salt bread is my pride and joy 🥐 imo it's the most elite bread, i love it so much that i used to run a home bakery just for salt bread if you haven't tried it you definitely should!! its so buttery and soft yet crispy it went super viral in asia and if you make it well you'll totally get the hype too. you can also make a ton of different flavors and fillings, comment if you want to see those too! recipe link: https://erinscozykitchen.com/recipe/salt-bread-shiopan/ or search up “erinscozykitchen salt bread” on google and it should be the first link that pops up! the full detailed recipe is also on my website 🔗 linked in bio! #saltbread #shiopan #소금빵 #bread

Here's what you'll need to make your own salt bread at home, according to Lim's recipe:

  • Bread flour
  • Cake flour
  • Sugar
  • Salt
  • Non-fat milk powder
  • Butter (unsalted and salted)
  • Instant dry yeast
  • Coarse salt
How To Make Salt Bread

Set some solid time aside to make salt bread, because you're going to be working on this for a while. Kick things off by mixing bread flour, cake flour, sugar, salt, milk powder, yeast and cold water in a stand mixer.

Courtesy Korin Miller

Mix it with a dough hook on low speed until it forms a shaggy dough. Add in cold, unsalted butter.

Courtesy Korin Miller

Knead your dough until it's smooth and passes the windowpane test (where you can gently stretch a small piece of dough until it's thin enough for light to pass through). Shape your dough into a ball and place it in a bowl to let it rise. Cover it and let it double in size.

Courtesy Korin Miller

Once it's doubled in size, poke the dough with your finger to see if the indentation stays. If so, your dough is ready for the next step.

Courtesy Korin Miller

Degas your dough and divide it into even portions, rolling each into a ball. Cover and let these rest for 15 minutes.

Roll out your dough into a long teardrop shape, and place a piece of butter on one end, before rolling each one up.

Courtesy Korin Miller

Place each roll on a non-stick pan, seam side down. Cover your pan and let the dough rise again until doubled in size.

Preheat your oven to 450 degrees. Spray your rolls lightly with water and add pretzel salt on top. Then, generously spray your rolls with more water. Lower the oven to 450 degrees and bake your rolls for 12 to 15 minutes. Enjoy them hot out of the oven.

Salt Bread Recipe Review: My Honest Thoughts

Courtesy Korin Miller

I have a lot of thoughts on this recipe, but first, let's talk about the taste. Salt bread uses unsalted butter, salted butter and plenty of generous coarse salt on top, so of course it's going to be tasty. You get an initial crispy and salty exterior texture, followed by a flakier interior and then a buttery, salty interior.

But my final product didn't look like the gorgeous, croissant-style rolls Lim rolled out. Instead, it was more like fluffy pretzel rolls. I think I have a few ideas why, too.

The recipe doesn't proof the yeast before mixing in the flours. When I make this again, I'm definitely going to do that first to see if I can get a little more fluffiness out of my dough. My dough still rose just fine, but the final product just wasn't as fluffy as the ones in the photos.

I struggled to get my rolls to fully cook within 15 minutes, which was the top end of the range the recipe listed. I pulled them out after 15 minutes, but found they weren't browned enough and that the interior was still doughy. So, I ended up cooking these for more like 25 minutes.

Also, I couldn't get these to brown evenly. I spritzed the pre-cooked rolls all over with water based on the recipe's suggestion and still only got a little brown on top. The butter ends up pooling in the bottom of the pan, which creates a nice, crunchy bottom. But I'd like to see that crunchiness all over.

Again, this recipe takes a while to make. But if you find you've got a few hours to spend at home and you're into baking, give it a go. Just know that it make take a few round to get it right.

Final Tips and Takeaways
  • Cut your unsalted butter into small pieces. The recipe doesn't get into specifics here, but you'll have better, more evenly-distributed butter if you cut your unsalted butter in small pieces or even shave it into your dough.
  • Roll out your dough balls into very thin strips. Mine were likely a little too chunky. Thinner dough strips means more layers for air in between and potentially a fluffier final product.
  • Consider brushing the tops with butter. Experiment with brushing the tops of the dough rolls with butter to get a more even golden glow and crunch.
  • Keep a close eye on your rolls as they cook. Mine were definitely not done in 12 to 15 minutes. As a result, I kept cooking them in two-minute increments to make sure I didn't overcook them.

Beloved Show Gets Surprising Update After 15 Years on the Air

Wed, 03/18/2026 - 5:27pm

After more than a decade on television, Impractical Jokers isn’t slowing down. Fans will be elated to know that in fact, it’s doing the opposite.

The long-running hidden camera comedy has officially been renewed for Season 13, even as it wraps up its current run on a major high note.

According to network executives, Impractical Jokers is experiencing some of its strongest performance yet. Since returning in January for the second half of Season 12, the series has seen a massive ratings boost—averaging a 1.72 rating among adults 25-54, marking a 292% increase compared to the previous season. It’s now on track to become the highest-rated season in the show’s history and currently stands as the No. 1 original series on cable in key adult demographics.

“Fifteen years into its run, ‘Impractical Jokers’ is breaking records and delivering some of the best ratings in its history,” said TBS president Jason Sarlanis, per Variety. “Our fans absolutely love the humor and friendship of the Jokers, which keeps them coming back for more. We can’t wait to share even more laughs and unforgettable moments with them.”

The series, which stars Brian “Q” Quinn, James “Murr” Murray, and Sal Vulcano, follows the trio as they challenge each other to increasingly outrageous public dares, which often end in painfully hilarious punishments for whoever loses.

And off-screen, the cast is still keeping fans entertained. Recently, Murr went viral after a TikTok video showed him belting out Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club” during a karaoke night. Holding a drink in one hand and a microphone in the other, he quickly became the center of attention, and fans loved the unexpected moment.

The news of a new season also comes after another beloved cast-member Joe Gratto’s exit in 2022. The former star revealed in an Instagram post that he had to step back from the show to focus on coparenting his children after separation from his wife Bessy Gratto

“Alongside my friends, I've devoted a decade of my life to building this franchise and couldn't be prouder of what has been accomplished. However, due to some issues in my personal life, I have to step away," he wrote in the post. “So now I need to focus on being the best father and co-parent to our two incredible kids.”

Wed, 03/18/2026 - 5:06pm

Kerry Washington is so beautiful that she can pull off any hairstyle, including blonde braids that stream all the way down her back.

Washington, 49, earned international acclaim for her role as Olivia Pope in the ABC drama series Scandal, which she held from 2012 to 2018. Based on a novel of the same name by Araminta Hall,Imperfect Women "examines a crime that shatters the lives of three women in a decades-long friendship."

"As the investigation unravels, so does the truth about how even the closest friendships may not be what they seem," Apple said in a press release of the eight-episode thriller, which stars Mad Men icon Elisabeth Mossand House of Cards alum Kate Mara alongside Washington.

Check out the trailer for Imperfect Women below:

What Did Kerry Washington Say About Her Past Struggles?

In a new interview on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, Washington opened up about struggling with an eating disorder in the past. Stuck in a nonstop cycle of binge eating and overexercising, Washington shared that the thing that actually motivated her to get professional help was suicidal ideation.

“The thing that actually got me to get help with my eating disorder wasn’t the food itself, wasn’t the behavior with the food,” Washington said. “It was the suicidal ideation.”

Washington went on to encourage people to seek help.

“If you’re struggling, don’t minimize it,” she said. “If you need help, ask for help. You don’t need to suffer alone. You don’t need to live in pain. You don’t need to engage in activity that takes you out of life.”

Sam's Club's Dreamy New Vera Bradley Quilt Set Looks Like Grandma's Handiwork in the Most Beautiful Way

Wed, 03/18/2026 - 5:05pm

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Growing up, I was lucky enough to have a grandma who made the most beautiful quilts completely by hand. I'm talking tiny, perfect stitches, soft layers that somehow got cozier with time, and patterns you could stare at forever. They weren't just blankets, they were the kind of pieces you keep, move with and pull out year after year. Honestly, they've held up better than just about anything else in my life.

That's probably why I still do a double-take when I spot quilted pieces out in the wild. Even if they're not hand-stitched, there's something about that look. Between the texture, pattern and whole cozy vibe, it instantly takes me back.

How excited was I to find out that Sam's Club carries the Vera Bradley brand! This quilt set does not only look beautiful on your bed, but it also feels great. Ryan Gosling Reveals He Considered Turning Down One of His Most Iconic Roles

Wed, 03/18/2026 - 4:52pm

Ryan Goslingbrought Barbie's boyfriend, Ken, to the big screen in the 2023 hit, Barbie.

While Gosling's live-action version of the doll ended up getting acclaim, he originally wasn't all that interested in taking on the role. During a March 2026 interview with Fuera de Foco, Gosling was asked if he ever thought about saying no or had to be convinced to join a project that ended up being transformative.

"I think maybe Barbie," replied Gosling.

He explained that he didn't believe his "first instinct was to do" Barbie, directed and co-written by Greta Gerwig. Gosling said, however, that he felt inspired to accept the role of Ken after he saw his and his wife, Eva Mendes' two daughters, play with Barbie dolls.

"I could see how much playing with Barbies was doing for my kids, you know, because they were able to act out stuff that was going in a larger world with their dolls, so it ended up being a way to process the world," said the Project Hail Mary star in the March 2026 interview. "And I think that's what Greta was doing in the script. She was trying to take some of these larger ideas and use dolls to tell the story. And I just thought there was such an interesting marriage there."

He said he eventually realized that while playing Ken was "going to be hard to do," he wanted to be a part of the movie.

"Maybe my instinct was to say no, but I thought this is a good challenge," continued the 45-year-old actor.

Gosling mentioned that his daughters' Barbies served as inspiration for him to take on the role of Ken in a 2023 interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. He said after he read the Barbie script, he "walked out in the backyard" and realized his children's Ken doll was facedown in the mud next to a squished lemon." According to Gosling, he immediately contacted Gerwig to let her know he wanted to play Ken.

"I texted [the photo] to Greta and I said, 'I shall be your Ken. For his story must be told,'" quipped the Notebook star.

‘Boy Meets World’ Star Sports a New Incognito Look 25 Years After the Beloved ‘90s Show Ended

Wed, 03/18/2026 - 4:48pm

Boy Meets World alum Rider Strong is looking noticeably different these days.

The actor, 46, attended the 2026 iHeartPodcast Awards in Austin, Texas, on Monday, March 16. On the red carpet at the event, he rocked a slightly shaggy hairstyle, a graying beard and round glasses that might have fans doing a double take. As for his outfit, he wore a gray-blue jacket and T-shirt with dark jeans, a blue scarf and brown lace-up boots.

Strong’s new Feeny-esque look is a departure from Shawn Hunter, the rebellious teen heartthrob he played for seven seasons on the ABC coming-of-age sitcomBoy Meets World from September 1993 to May 2000. He later reprised the role on the Disney Channel spinoff Girl Meets World, guest-starring as an older version of Shawn in seven episodes between December 2014 and January 2017.

Strong now hosts “Pod Meets World” alongside his former Boy Meets World co-stars Will Friedle and Danielle Fishel, who portrayed Eric Matthews and Topanga Lawrence on the show. During a June 2025 episode of the podcast, Strong recalled feeling frustrated about his character’s development later in the series’ run.

Tibrina Hobson/Getty Images

“I was really bored by my character,” Strong said while reflecting on the “Getting Hitched” episode from season 6. “What’s funny is, in retrospect, this is actually a well-written episode for Shawn. He’s finally expressing something. But I remember during rehearsal, I just lost it. I was like, ‘I feel like I’m saying the same thing every week.’”

🎬 SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬

Strong confessed that his reaction to a scene in which Shawn and his brother Jack Hunter (Matthew Lawrence) deal with the aftermath of their father Chet’s (Blake Clark) death could have stemmed from the fact that he “was just tired of being on the show” at that point.

“I was like, ‘Why [do] they keep throwing drama at me?’” he recounted. “Now looking at it, this is on the heels of an episode where they killed my father and really put a lot of pressure on us as actors, pressure on Blake and Matt and me.”

While Strong was unsatisfied with what he considered repetitive storylines, Friedle, 49, remembered being jealous of Shawn’s arc.

“This just shows how self-absorbed we kind of were as people and as actors because I would sit there and watch you and go, like, ‘Why don’t they give me any of that? Why don’t I ever get a chance to do any of that?’” he said.

More recently, Strong confessed that he was reluctant to have Lawrence, 46, join the cast in season 5 due to his previous level of success.

“When you came on set, I think there was this [question] like, ‘What is he doing here? Does he even need to do this?’” Strong told Lawrence on the “Brotherly Love” podcast in February. “It sort of felt like you were being imposed on us. … The network wants a Lawrence in our show and we were like, ‘But we don’t need him.’”

Although Strong initially found it “weird” when he began working with Lawrence, he ultimately realized the situation was “fine,” and Lawrence was more than his famous family and Hollywood past.

Lisa Kudrow Calls This 'Survivor' Winner 'Despicable'

Wed, 03/18/2026 - 4:28pm

Lisa Kudrow is revisiting her early reactions to reality TV, and she’s not holding back.

As the Friends star prepares to return as Valerie Cherish in the upcoming third and final season of The Comeback, she opened up about the real-life inspiration behind the character. In an interview with Hollywood Reporter shared on Wednesday, March 18, Kudrow, 62, revealed that her complicated feelings about early reality shows like Survivor and The Amazing Race helped shape the satirical series.

“I saw the very first season of Survivor and loved it. What a phenomenal show, but the guy who won was despicable,” she said, referring to Survivor season one winner Richard Hatch. “How do people say that he played a better game worthy of $1 million? Why aren’t you rewarding the person who played a great game, didn’t stoop to his level and was a shining example of humanity? That person should get $1 million."

READ MORE: ‘Survivor’ Star Fires Back at Lisa Kudrow After ‘Despicable’ Comment

Kudrow admitted she was both fascinated and unsettled by what she saw unfold on screen. “This is the end of civilization,” she recalled thinking at the time, pointing to the way controversial personalities were rewarded and elevated.

Her reaction didn’t stop there. She also shared her thoughts on The Amazing Race, calling out some of the more intense and emotional moments that defined early reality TV. “Then I watched Amazing Race and saw people vomiting on TV in front of the entire nation, crying while their partners screamed, 'Keep going!' It was the most humiliating thing I’d ever seen, and people were signing up for that? How are they going to feel once they realize what they allowed to happen on camera?”

Those strong opinions ultimately became creative fuel. Kudrow and co-creator Michael Patrick King used that discomfort as a jumping-off point for The Comeback, building a character obsessed with how she appears on camera—something that now feels more relevant than ever in today’s social media-driven world.

Meanwhile, Survivor has been making headlines for more somber reasons. Former Syracuse quarterback Rex Culpepper recently died at age 28 following injuries sustained in a dirt bike accident.

Culpepper was also connected to the Survivor universe through his family. His father, Brad Culpepper, competed on multiple seasons of the show, including Blood vs. Water and Game Changers. His mother, Monica Culpepper, also appeared on Survivor: One World and Blood vs. Water.
