Brian Wilson's Rare Live Recordings Finally Being Released

Wed, 02/04/2026 - 7:07pm

Rare live recordings from Brian Wilson’s post-millennium touring years are finally seeing the light of day, offering fans an expansive look at one of the most creatively vibrant chapters of his later career.

A newly announced collection titled On Tour 1999–2007 will arrive exclusively for Record Store Day on April 18, 2026, via Oglio Entertainment. Available only on vinyl at independent record stores worldwide, the release captures Wilson performing across iconic venues in the U.S. and abroad during a period widely seen as his post-Roxy renaissance.

The album spans performances recorded between 1999 and 2007, drawing from shows at Carnegie Hall in New York, London’s Royal Festival Hall, UCLA’s Royce Hall, the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles, CenterStaging in Burbank, and Chicago. Together, the recordings document Wilson reimagining beloved classics alongside solo material and personal favorites with renewed warmth and emotional depth.

On Tour 1999–2007 also serves as a companion to last year’s Brian Wilson: Live at the Roxy Theatre (25th Anniversary Edition), which chronicled Wilson’s triumphant April 2000 return to the stage at West Hollywood’s legendary Roxy Theatre. While that release captured the spark of an intimate breakthrough moment, the new collection follows the momentum outward, tracing how those sold-out shows evolved into a globe-spanning live era.

Anchoring the performances is Wilson’s acclaimed touring ensemble, including longtime collaborators Darian Sahanaja, Jeff Foskett, Probyn Gregory, Scott Bennett, Nick Walusko, Paul Mertens and others whose close creative partnership with Wilson helped define all of his subsequent tours and solo albums. The album is arranged by Wilson himself and produced by longtime collaborator Mark Linett, preserving the power and intimacy of the live performances while highlighting the dynamic chemistry of the band.

The tracklist showcases the breadth of Wilson’s catalog and influences, from the sweeping Smile-era mini-suite “Our Prayer / Gee / Heroes & Villains” to solo-album standouts like “Melt Away” and “Desert Drive.” The collection also revisits classics from The Beach Boys, including “Busy Doin’ Nothing,” “Friends,” and “The Night Was So Young.”

Tributes to Wilson’s musical heroes are woven throughout as well, with spirited renditions of Chuck Berry’s “Johnny B. Goode,” The Beatles’ “She’s Leaving Home,” and a heartfelt live interpretation of Dennis Wilson’s “Forever,” recorded at Carnegie Hall.

The release arrives months after Wilson’s death on June 11, just nine days shy of his 83rd birthday. His family later shared that he was laid to rest on August 6.

For longtime fans and vinyl collectors, On Tour 1999–2007 offers a rare, carefully curated window into Brian Wilson’s modern touring legacy, capturing a creative run that bridged generations, styles, and eras in a format available only for one day and only in independent record stores.

Amazon Has a 'Beautiful' Bag Charm on Sale for as Low as $10, and It Looks So 'Expensive'

Wed, 02/04/2026 - 7:06pm

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Looking for a last-minute Valentine's Day gift that's cute, affordable, and chic? We've got you covered — or, at least, Amazon does. The retailer is selling the most adorable holiday treasures, spanning from a heart-shaped birthstone necklace to a Valentine's spa gift basket. Now, we have our eye on the Sorgerly Bag Purse Charm Chain, which is currently up to 33% off.

The accessory was originally being sold for $15, but has been reduced to just $10 in the heart charm colorway. The other two patterns on sale include red cherry charms and miscellaneous charms, including a pretzel, a heart, and a flower, each of which are $13. The rest of the five hues are being sold at their usual price. The metal accessory is made of zinc alloy and is 12 inches long, making it the perfect add-on for mini bags and purses.

The heart charm hue specifically features seven unique heart charms with gold and silver adornments that can customize your bag with ease. There are simple clasps located on each end of the accessory so that you can place it on each strap (this makes it lie across the purse in a U-shape). Or, you can just attach the bag charm to one end of the bag and have it hanging off vertically, which is also a popular trend.

Shoppers love this fun accessory, describing it as the "perfect choice" for totes and hobo bags. Others say that the "beautiful" bag charms "look expensive," are so "adorable," and are "good quality for the price." It's just recommended that you try not to get the chain caught on anything, as they can break if pulled on hard enough.

"It's been holding up pretty well so far and doesn't get easily tangled with my other trinkets & charms," one reviewer added. "It's pretty good about staying in place, and the charms seem sturdy."

Five Below's Vibrant $7 Outdoor Cushions Are Making Us Long for Warm Spring Days

Wed, 02/04/2026 - 7:05pm

It may still be freezing outside, but I'm already dreaming up how I'm going to refresh my patio. I love an al fresco dining moment, or a simple front porch chill session with friends, so sprucing up those spots around my home just feels good. And after trudging through short, gray-ish days and long, dark nights, I want to add all of the vibrant colors I can find.

You may not think of Five Below as a patio decor destination, but it actually has some really fun finds that work perfectly outside. More often than not, these accessories cost more than $5 apiece, but they're still a good value, like this outdoor cushion find I recently came across.

Printed Outdoor Cushion, $7 at Five Below

Five Below

Five Below's Printed Outdoor Cushions are $7 (so, yeah, more than $5) but come in the most colorful, vibrant patterns you'll find. My personal favorite is the oranges against a pink background, but there's also a "flower power" colorway, a tropical-meets-cowgirl-meets-coquette colorway, and a blue checks/seashells pattern.

Related: Aldi's Decorative but Functional Storage Solution Is a Chic Upgrade for Any Home

There's a tufted button in the middle, which, I recently learned, actually serves a purpose. These buttons aren't just for show; they help keep the internal padding in place so that the cushion-y stuff doesn't shift around or sag after a lot of use. That detail makes the cushion more durable.

Spring is the perfect excuse to give your porch or patio a little refresh, and you really don't need to spend much to make it feel brand new. Start with the basics, like a good clean. Sweep, hose down surfaces, and wipe furniture clean, and the space will already look much better.

Next, think about quick swaps that make a big difference. A new doormat or an outdoor rug can change the mood. Toss in a couple of outdoor pillows, and your seating instantly feels like it wasn't left out all winter (even though it totally was). Finish things off with lighting and plants. String lights, solar lanterns or flameless candles make everything feel cozy once the sun goes down. But plants give the space life and a ton of color. Plus, there's always a sense of satisfaction in helping something grow and thrive.

'80s Chart-Topper, 71, Releases 'Superb' New Single Fans Call 'One of the Best'

Wed, 02/04/2026 - 7:00pm

Fans were overjoyed when Bruce Hornsby announced his plans for 2026: A spring tour and a new album scheduled to drop on April 3, titled Indigo Park. Now the three-time Grammy Award winner has released the title track (and first single) from the upcoming record, and fans already want more.

According to a release shared on Hornsby's official website, "Indigo Park" chronicles "episodes in the young life of Bruce; in classic pop fashion, the chorus lifts to higher altitude, to survey not just the remembered scene but the ways it has hung around, informing his adult perspective."

“Lessons learned through the years of boneheaded attempts and failures…Indigo Park is a state of mind," Hornsby said.

Fans commenting on the official performance video of "Indigo Park" on YouTube had nothing but praise for the tune.

"This song makes my soul sing! Still got it after all these years," one person wrote, with another calling it "one of the best!"

"This is superb Bruce," raved a third commenter, adding, "Thank you so much for this. I'm feeling every note and lyrics here. You never disappoint."

"Another beauty...man, life's great listening to the jams from Bruce and crew, his lyrics, melodies, harmonies, instrumentation are brilliant," someone else declared. "Thank you for continuing your journey and sharing your gift!"

'Indigo Park' features an appearance by the late Bob Weir

As fans are well aware, Hornsby was a touring member of the Grateful Dead for years, so it makes sense that Indigo Park would include collaborations with lyricist Robert Hunter (who co-wrote the songs "Alabama" and "Might As Well Be Me, Florinda") and the late Bob Weir, who plays guitar and duets with Hornsby on "Might As Well Be Me, Florinda."

Interestingly enough, Hornsby explained that all of his work with Hunter happened remotely.

“I never saw him,” Hornsby said. “No. Not once. I’d tell him, ‘Hey, I’m coming to town to play so-and-so in the San Francisco area.’ He’d write me something that said, ‘I only go out for doctor’s visits now. I hardly ever leave the house. I can’t.’ Anyway, I hardly knew him. These five songs are what we did. I cherish that remote relationship.”

The upcoming Bruce Hornsby and the Noisemakers tour kicks off on April 9 in Cincinnati, Ohio, going on to visit cities including Atlanta, Seattle and Los Angeles before wrapping up in Patchougue, NY, on July 25.

Slipknot's New Project Gets a Spring 2026 Release Date

Wed, 02/04/2026 - 6:59pm

After a delay, Slipknot fans will finally know when the heavy metal band's new project will be released. The upcoming tracks were recorded in 2008 when they weren't working on All Hope Is Gone. These songs were different from the band's sound and weren't included in the fourth album. Now we know when the unreleased songs will be available this year.

Look Outside Your Window will be released on April 18 Michael Pfaff, Alessandro Venturella, Michael Shawn Crahan and Sid Wilson of Slipknot attend the 66th GRAMMY Awards.

Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic

Look Outside Your Window won't be branded as Slipknot, but it's Shawn "Clown" Crahan, Corey Taylor, guitarist Jim Root, and DJ Sid Wilson's creation. It'll be released on April 18, exclusively on Record Store Day. They released a statement about the project, which has 10 tracks.

1. 11th March
2. Moth
3. Dirge
4. Christina
5. Is Real
6. Away
7. In Reverse
8. Toad
9. Juliette
10. U Can't Stop This

"Created during a chaotic time in our shared history, the songs were born late at night, in a house on a farm in the middle of nowhere," read the statement, according to Knotfest. "Peering out through a big picture window, we wondered about what, or who, might be lurking outside. That sense of the unknown seeped into the music itself. There were no rules; ideas could come from anywhere: subtle drum loops, bits of organ or abstract guitar noise, even samples of frogs or crickets. Guided by emotion and instinct, we let the sounds themselves point the way."

The website also shows the project's beautiful cover of the sky with palm trees. The vinyl has a splatter on it, and the jacket is purple. Slipknot recently released a deluxe edition of its 25th anniversary album. The band members then took a break. That's fitting since the 10 songs were created 15 years ago during the band's free time years ago.

Hulu's Immersive New True Crime Docuseries 'Friends Like These' Unveils First Look

Wed, 02/04/2026 - 6:52pm

Yet another riveting documentary is coming to Hulu next month.

If you're not yet familiar with the Skylar Neese case, a new three-part docuseries will premiere on the streaming giant March 6 from director Clair Titley (The Contestant) and BAFTA-winning producer Josie Besbrode.

When 16-year-old Skylar vanished from her West Virginia home in July 2012, her family and community were thrown into turmoil. As the search for answers intensified, attention turned toward Skylar’s closest friends — uncovering a tangled web of secrets, betrayal and identity. See the first-look image Hulu released on Wednesday, Feb. 4 below.

(Hulu)

Told through social media posts, intimate interviews and Skylar’s own words, Friends Like These: The Murder of Skylar Neese immerses viewers in the emotional intensity of adolescence. From the thrill of rebellion to the fragility of friendship, the three-part series is said to capture the pressures of growing up in the digital age — and the devastating consequences when love turns to hate.

Was Skylar escaping small-town monotony, caught up in a random act of violence, or the victim of a calculated betrayal? As the truth unfolds, the chilling series challenges our understanding of memory, trust and loyalty, Hulu boasts.

Friends Like These: The Murder of Skylar Neese, from Dorothy Street Pictures, premieres March 6 on both Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ in the U.S., and on Disney+ internationally.

How will it compare to the groundbreaking documentaries from 2025? At the end of last year, Variety released its list of top offerings. Maybe you're able to guess the magazine's No. 1 pick. Here's the top five:

5. One Night in Idaho: The College Murders (Prime Video)
4. The Alabama Solution (HBO Max)
3. Unknown Number: The High School Catfish (Netflix)
2. The Perfect Neighbor (Netflix) — currently nominated for an Academy Award

Here's How Much You Paid for Groceries in 2016

Wed, 02/04/2026 - 6:45pm

If there's anything we've all collectively learned in the past 10 years, it's to expect the unexpected. The decade from 2016 to 2026 has seen us setting our Bingo cards ablaze and tossing any semblance that we know anything at all straight out the window. It's a period that has not only brought us incredible works of entertainment and media such as Stranger ThingsInsecure, Rihanna's career-defining Anti, and Beyoncé's Lemonade, but also marked by significant changes in the world around us.

We've seen Brexit, the overturning of Roe v. Wade, the COVID-19 pandemic, and even the rise of AI-generated slop posited as genuinely valuable. From global warming to climate change and the ongoing circus that is politics, the period from 2016 to now has been nothing short of unpredictable. But the most obvious visual representation of just how over the top things have gotten lies nowhere else but in our shopping carts.

😋😋SIGN UP to get delicious recipes, handy kitchen hacks & more in our daily Pop Kitchen newsletter🍳🍔

Unless you're Kim Kardashian and haven't gone grocery shopping in 15 years, then you're well aware that grocery prices have gone through the roof. According to data aggregated by the USDA, grocery costs have surged in recent years, with the period from 2020 to 2024 seeing a 23.6 percent increase in food-at-home prices alone. Even more shocking is the revelation that your shopping cart in 2016 would've cost 30 percent less on average than it does today. To put that into numbers, a cart full of groceries that would've cost you $100 in 2016 would cost nearly $130.

Related: Skip Reservations This Valentine's Day and Get Sam's Club's Romantic Restaurant-Quality Dinner Delivered to Your Door Instead

Courtesy Kenn Bivins

While that might not seem immediately significant, according to data from the USDA's Monthly Cost of Food Report, the average four-person household spends at least $1,011 a month on groceries. At that rate, even conservatively, most households spend about $12,132 on groceries per year, up from $8,492.40 in 2016. That equates to a whopping $3,639.60 extra on average. While numbers have typically increased across the board, a few items have seen significant price increases. Eggs, coffee, ground beef and milk have all seen significant price increases compared to the relatively low prices of 2016.

Despite falling significantly from a high of nearly $6.23 in March 2025, a dozen eggs today will set you back about $2.71. Ground beef rose by nearly half, with the average price being a jaw-dropping $6.69 per pound today, and coffee increased the most, jumping nearly $4.66! Although it's difficult to pinpoint a single cause, factors such as an increase in communicable diseases among livestock, rising tariffs on imported goods, and regulatory and policy changes affecting production and agriculture are significant drivers of higher food costs.

Unfortunately, as much as we'd love to say that things are bound to stabilize sometime soon, a decade of experience has taught us that we really have no clue. While you might be looking back at 2016 with rose colored glasses and at your grocery bill with disdain, at least the silver lining is that after the Bad Bunny Bowl and the impending return of Beyoncé to complete her dazzling three-act trilogy, we still have season two of Heated Rivalry to look forward to.

'Gossip Girl' Author Returns With New Blair Waldorf Novel

Wed, 02/04/2026 - 6:43pm

Fans of Gossip Girl may soon be heading back to the Upper East Side. Author Cecily Von Ziegsar is returning to the world she created, revisiting one of the franchise’s most iconic characters two decades later.

According to Deadline, von Ziegsar is currently working on a new novel centered on Blair Waldorf. The book is set approximately 20 years after the original series and follows Blair as she returns to the Upper East Side and reenters New York City’s elite social scene.

While no specific date has been announced, the novel is expected to be released in summer 2027.

Von Ziegesar’s original Gossip Girl book series ran for 13 novels between 2002 and 2009. The franchise later expanded with several spin-offs, including Gossip Girl: Psycho Killer, a parody slasher novel that reimagined Blair and her best friend/enemy Serena as serial killers.

In the novels Blair is best friends with Serena Van der Woodsen and Nate Archibald, with the three forming a central love triangle throughout the series. As Nate navigates relationships with both women, the dynamic ultimately fractures, and the characters eventually go their separate ways as they move into adulthood. Blair also has a brief relationship with Chuck Bass while they are in college, though the relationship is short lived. This differs from the television adaptation, where Blair and Chuck’s relationship became a major focus and ultimately culminated in their marriage.

The novel inspired Gossip Girl, the popular CW television series that aired for six seasons from 2007 to 2012.

On the show, the character of Blair Waldorf was portrayed by Leighton Meester, whose performance helped turn the character into a pop culture icon.

The franchise was later revived with a sequel series, also titled Gossip Girl, which streamed on HBO Max from 2021 until 2023.

Outside of the Gossip Girl universe, von Ziegesar’s most recent novel, Cobble Hill, was released in October 2020.

All six seasons of the original Gossip Girl are currently streaming on HBO Max and Netflix.

Ellen Pompeo Reflects on First Conversation with Eric Dane After ALS Diagnosis

Wed, 02/04/2026 - 6:21pm

Ellen Pompeo shared the moment she learned of her Grey's Anatomy co-star, Eric Dane's, ALS diagnosis.

Pompeo recently spoke at the ALS Network Champions for Cures & Care Gala in a pre-taped message on Saturday, Jan. 24. Dane was being honored with the Advocate of the Year award at the gala.

"As soon as I heard about his diagnosis, I texted him, and I said, 'I’m here if you want to speak,'" she recalled in the message. "And my phone rang 30 seconds later."

Pompeo added in the video to Dane, "I'm really proud of you. I love you so much, and I am honored to get to speak about you today."

Dane was not physically present at the event, as the organizers announced that he was no longer able to attend in person "due to the physical realities of ALS."

Dane publicly revealed his ALS diagnosis in April 2025 and has since been an outspoken advocate for ALS awareness.

"I want to make sure that people are aware of what ALS is and, more importantly, what we can do to combat it and improve the landscape," Dane said at a panel hosted by I AM ALS in December 2025.

Fellow Grey's Anatomy alum, Patrick Dempsey, also opened up about learning of Dane's diagnosis in an exclusive interview with Parade.

"It’s heartbreaking. It really is. For him and for his family. You feel for them when you see this terrible disease and how quickly it attacks the body," Dempsey told Parade. "But he’s bringing a lot of light to that, and he’s using his platform in a positive way. I wish him the best."

HGTV’s New Series With Familiar Faces Finally Gets a Premiere Date

Wed, 02/04/2026 - 6:11pm

HGTV stars Jonathan and Drew Scott's upcoming series, Property Brothers: Under Pressure, has a release date.

EntertainmentNowreported that HGTV announced that the Scott brothers' latest renovation show is starting on March 15 via a February 4 Instagram upload.

The post featured a picture that showed Drew and Scott posing in front of a house in the middle of a remodel.

"High stakes. Tough choices. Dream homes unlocked. Watch Drew and Jonathan help buyers make confident decisions and transform their properties into forever houses in Property Brothers: Under Pressure, premiering March 15 at 9|8c!" read the caption of the post.

Several fans took to the post's comments section to share that they were looking forward to the 14-episode first season of Property Brothers: Under Pressure.

"I am so excited for the premiere of Property Brothers: Under Pressure! I can't wait to watch it!" wrote a commenter.

"Awesome!!! I will be watching!!" added another.

"Ahhh can’t wait," shared a different person.

"I'm there thank you my brothers," chimed in a social media user.

Drew & Jonathan Scott Explained the Premise of Their New Show

In a February 4 article on Drew and Jonathan Scott's website, the brothers explained the premise of Property Brothers: Under Pressure.

Drew said that the show is about encouraging homebuyers to fix up houses that aren't quite "move-in ready." Jonathan also explained that he and Drew "encourage them to see past a home’s current state and envision its untapped potential, which can be tough."

"But when the ideal property pops up, they’ve got to be ready to make an offer and then trust us to create a design that fits their family’s needs," continued Jonathan.

Drew Scott Shared Fans Are a Source of Inspiration

While speaking to Parade in August 2025, Jonathan and Drew referenced that they've been HGTV stars with several series for the last 15 years. Drew said he thinks they've remained successful due to their willingness to listen to their fans when coming up with their shows.

"Being on the air for 15 years is wild, but we've always listened to our audience. We each get half a million messages a week from fans on social media DMs. People say, 'Hey, I love this in the shows. I wish you could do this,'" said Drew to Parade.

Drew made similar comments in an October 2025 interview with Us Weekly, alongside Jonathan. Drew said that fans were clamoring for a series like Property Brothers: Under Pressure.

"It's the whole process from house hunting, getting that offer in, renovating the house. And it's so interesting to see the different dynamics of families. And what they feel. They don't want to touch their home because they just don't know where to start. But we come in, they're under pressure, but we take that pressure off their shoulders and get them into their home," said Drew to Us Weekly.

’90s Rocker Announced as Contributor on Metal Band’s New Album

Wed, 02/04/2026 - 6:06pm

The star-studded track list for the highly anticipated Bruce Hornsby and the Noisemakers album Indigo Park has finally been announced, and fans of folk rock music might be elated to find that the legendary Bonnie Raitt will be a featured artist on one of the songs.

The album, which will be released on April 3, consists of 10 tracks featuring other major names such as Bob Weir, Ezra Koenig and Blake Mills. Raitt will appear on the album's fifth track "Ecstatic."

This wouldn't be the first time Raitt and Hornsby have collaborated on a project before. Raitt's 1991 ballad "I Can't Make You Love Me" featured Hornsby on the piano, which was a top-20 release on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The two also performed several shows live together in 1999.

L-R: Musical guests Jackson Browne, Shawn Colvin, Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Hornsby perform on July 27, 1999.

Paul Drinkwater/NBCU Photo Bank

Now, the new collaboration on Hornsby's Indigo Park is yet another contribution to their longstanding creative partnership over more than 30 years.

Raitt is by far one of the most highly accomplished musicians of her generation. She debuted as a singer-songwriter in 1971 with her self-titled album. Her music stood out as being a unique blend of folk, rock and country with roots influence as well. She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000, and in 2024 she received the Kennedy Center Honor. Over the course of her career, Raitt has released 18 studio albums, with the latest one being the Grammy-nominated Just Like That... (2022). As of today, Raitt has 13 Grammy Awards, 31 nominations and a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, which she was honored with in 2022, making her the ninth winningest woman when it comes to Grammys (she shares this honor with Ella Fitzgerald, Emmylou Harris and Leontyne Price).

The Absolute Best Way To Cook Salmon, According to Chef Andrew Zimmern

Wed, 02/04/2026 - 5:17pm

Salmon holds a special place on American dinner tables. It’s consistently one of the most consumed seafoods in the U.S., showing up everywhere from weeknight sheet-pan dinners to sushi rolls to fancy brunch menus.

And it’s no wonder: Salmon is rich, satisfying, widely available and packed with omega-3 fatty acids that help support heart and brain health. Yet despite its popularity, many home cooks approach it with hesitation, wondering the best way to cook salmon and worrying about cooking time and temperature, strong aromas or ending up with a dry piece of fish.

Chef Andrew Zimmern wants to change that. The Emmy- and James Beard Award–winning chef and author isn’t just passionate about cooking fish well. He’s on a broader mission to help people eat more of it, more often. His latest book, The Blue Food Cookbook, which is co-authored with globally recognized seafood expert Barton Seaver in collaboration with ocean food advocacy nonprofit Fed by Blue, builds on that mission, focusing on why eating more seafood matters—for our health, our environment and our future.

In his view, seafood isn’t just delicious; it’s one of the smartest choices we can make for both personal health and the health of the planet. “There is no animal protein choice on planet earth that has a smaller negative impact on our environment and a more positive impact on our human health than blue foods,” Zimmern tells Parade.

While he’d love to see people expand beyond what he calls “celebrity fish,” like tuna, shrimp, salmon and halibut, he’s also pragmatic. Zimmern’s larger goal is simple: Get people to eat more fish (ideally three times a week) and to learn how to prepare it in ways that feel approachable, flavorful and repeatable.

So, if salmon is your gateway fish—the one that gets you comfortable cooking seafood at home—you’re exactly where Zimmern wants you to start. With a few smart techniques and the right mindset, that once-intimidating fillet becomes weeknight-easy, deeply satisfying and endlessly versatile.

We chatted with Zimmern to get his top tips for cooking salmon, including the very best way to cook the fish, the mistake you might be making, some advice on frozen vs. fresh salmon and wild vs. farmed salmon, and more. Read on for everything you need to know to make your next fish dinner so much better.

The Best Way To Cook Salmon, According to Andrew Zimmern

Madeleine Hill

If Zimmern had to distill his approach into a single principle, it would be this: Go low and slow.

He prefers poaching salmon, which he considers one of the easiest and most foolproof methods for home cooks, because it keeps the fish moist without forcing fats to the surface. You can get a detailed recipe for poached salmon on Zimmern's website, but the general idea is to bring some white wine, herbs, aromatics, peppercorns and a bit of water to a boil in a pot large enough to hold the salmon.

Add the salmon, making sure it's submerged, and bring the liquid back to a simmer. Lower the heat and cook until the fish is just cooked through, which should take 12 minutes or so. Turn off the heat and let the fish stand for a couple of minutes.

When serving warm poached salmon, the chef's go-to pairing is a very herby, lemony hollandaise alongside steamed green vegetables. Zimmern especially loves combining spinach with watercress, which adds what he describes as a “sweet green bitterness” that completes the dish. Steamed asparagus or sautéed greens are also great with the fish (and the hollandaise).

He also loves braising salmon in a spicy liquid, like a tomato sauce with some heat, gumbo or shakshuka-style sauce. Zimmern simply submerges the fish in the hot liquid, turns off the heat, covers the pot and returns a few minutes later to perfectly cooked salmon. The surrounding liquid gently cooks the fish while infusing it with flavor, making this method especially forgiving for home cooks.

What Most Home Cooks Do Wrong When Cooking Salmon

According to Zimmern, the biggest mistake home cooks make with salmon is completely avoidable.

“Home cooks fail in the last 90 seconds because they’re overcooking it,” he explains. “They don’t understand that there’s carryover heat.” Salmon continues to cook even after it comes off the heat, and those final moments can be the difference between a filet that's silky in the middle and one that's dry through and through.

One of the biggest red flags? Those chalky white dots that appear on the surface. “When you see those little white dots of protein coagulating on the outside of the fish, you’ve already overcooked it,” Zimmern says. Not only does that signal dryness, but it’s also why kitchens end up smelling “fishy.”

“As those proteins push their way out, they carry natural fish oils into the air,” he explains. “That’s where you get that fish smell in your house.” In other words, if your salmon smells, it’s probably too late.

Zimmern also cautions against heavy-handed techniques, like soaking fish in acidic marinades that break down delicate proteins or blasting it with high heat.

Should You Cook Salmon on the Stovetop or in the Oven?

Zimmern doesn’t see this as an either-or question. What matters more than location is the intensity of the heat.

“Everyone thinks you need to sauté fish with high, hard heat,” Zimmern says. “More mistakes can be made that way.” On the stovetop, he cooks salmon skin-side down over low to medium heat for 12–13 minutes, letting the fish cook through from the bottom. The skin becomes crisp while the top stays tender. He then flips it, serves it skin-side up, and allows the carryover heat to bring the center to doneness.

For most home cooks, the oven is a safer bet. Zimmern prefers a slow, gentle approach that protects the fish’s natural fats. “I’m talking about 175 or 200 degrees, for 15–20 minutes, for a room-temperature piece of fish,” he says.

This method keeps the salmon moist, preserves its delicate texture and prevents oils from being forced out. “It still has a beautiful blush in the center,” Zimmern says. “It doesn’t force any fats or oils to the outside.” And if crispy skin is the goal, he suggests briefly touching the skin side to a very hot pan on the stovetop. How briefly? He says the skin will crisp up in about 15 seconds.

Across cooking methods, Zimmern aims for an internal temperature of roughly 125–135°F, adjusting for species and thickness.

What’s Better: Wild or Farmed Salmon?

“The question isn’t ‘Is it wild or farmed?’” he says. “The question should be, ‘Is it responsibly sourced and how is it handled?’”

He explains: “There are very bad, mismanaged wild fisheries around the world, and there are some bad actors in the aquaculture space. You want fish that’s responsibly sourced, that comes from a responsible fishery or a responsible fish farm.”

So how do you make sure that you’re making the right choices? As Zimmern says, “there are all kinds of alphabet organizations that put out lists about this.” But his advice to consumers is simple: Ask questions at the seafood counter (even at big-box stores) about where the seafood is sourced and how it’s handled, read labels and advocate for yourself.

What’s Better: Frozen or Fresh Salmon?

Frozen fish, Zimmern adds, is often the best value in the supermarket and can be just as high quality as what’s displayed at the counter. Many items sold as “fresh” were previously frozen anyway. “Fresh doesn’t mean that it was caught the day before and comes to you,” he tells Parade. What matters most is buying salmon and other seafood at a store you trust.

And don’t underestimate convenience. Frozen filets can be thawed quickly under running water—or even cooked straight from frozen, which means a healthy dinner can be on the table pretty quickly.

Michelle Obama’s 2020 Documentary Spike's After Melania Trump's Controversial Film Release

Wed, 02/04/2026 - 5:13pm

Michelle Obama’s Netflix documentary, Becoming, is seeing a significant surge in streams right after Melania Trump’sMelania hit theaters.

Despite being released in May 2020, the streaming minutes for Becoming increased by 13,300 percent when compared to the week prior, according to a Wednesday, February 4 report by Deadline. The outlet noted that it took the doc only three days (Friday, January 30 to Sunday, February 1) to get 47.5 million viewing minutes.

The rise in streaming numbers coincides with the January 30 release of Melania’s documentary. The film, directed by Brett Ratner—who was accused of sexual harassment in 2017 and denied all allegations—primarily focuses on the 20 days leading up to the 2025 presidential inauguration and the 55-year-old’s return to the White House with husband President Donald Trump.

The movie and companion docu-series reportedly cost Jeff Bezos' MGM Amazon $40 million to acquire and received $35 million for marketing, but was only able to muster $7 million in sales during its opening weekend.

Michelle’s Becoming was directed by Nadia Hallgren and received four Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special, Outstanding Directing, and Outstanding Cinematography. The documentary gives viewers an intimate look at Michelle’s life both before and after her husband Barack Obama’s eight-year presidency. It also follows Michelle, now 62, while she was on tour for her best-selling 2018 book with the same title.

Fans can watch Becoming on Netflix, and Melania in theaters across the United States, Canada, and the UK until its presumed—but not yet announced—release on Prime Video.

Grey Goose ‘Rethinks’ Flavored Vodka With ‘Vibrant’ New Release

Wed, 02/04/2026 - 5:06pm

Grey Goose is "rethinking" flavored vodka with its newest release, which is also the brand's "largest in a decade."

The popular spirit brand is consistently ranked among the best vodka brands and hopes to make another lasting impression with its latest "super-premium" release, which it suggested was inspired by consumer preferences.

Recently, the French vodka brand unveiled its new "naturally vibrant" expression: Grey Goose Berry Rouge.

Grey Goose Introduces "Vibrant, Berry-Forward" Flavored Vodka

According to a press release, the new flavored vodka is crafted with the same "uncompromising standards" as the original marque and has no added sugar, which is a major draw given that low and no-added-sugar products are certainly having a moment right now.

"Consumers continue to seek cocktails made with spirits that are both premium and flavorful," Aleco Azqueta, vice president of global marketing at Grey Goose, explained in a statement. "With Berry Rouge, we wanted to rethink what a flavored vodka can be, creating a multidimensional blend of four berries that delivers a vibrant flavor."

The new spirit is made with "high-quality, natural ingredients," per the announcement. It blends freshly picked strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries with Grey Goose's "signature soft Picardy wheat" and pure spring water from Gensac-la-Pallue. It's then infused with the natural essence of the fruits (no added sugar, preservatives, or coloring). The company says it will deliver a "tangy, vivid taste bursting with ripe berry character" that's balanced by its smooth texture for a "long, clean finish."

"It's a delicious way for consumers to pick pleasure without compromise, whether enjoyed on its own or mixed into a great cocktail," Azqueta added.

The company said its new Berry Rouge is versatile enough to be enjoyed in a variety of cocktails, whether served simply with club soda or its signature Grey Goose Rouge Royale—a spritz that blends the berry vodka with lemonade, brut rosé and soda water, and is garnished with fresh raspberries, blueberries, a lemon wheel, and a sprig of mint (the full recipe can be found at the end of this story).

"At Grey Goose, we believe exceptional vodka begins with exceptional ingredients," Grey Goose master distiller Gianluigi Torta shared. "For Berry Rouge, it was essential that we source the highest-quality, sun-ripened berries to ensure a flavor profile that tastes fresh and true to the fruit itself. The vibrant berry notes are carefully balanced with the signature smoothness of Grey Goose Vodka to produce a symphony of bright and sweet flavors."

Grey Goose Berry Rouge is now available at spirits retailers for a suggested retail price of $25.99. Find it wherever you shop for other Grey Goose offerings, including its original vodka, Altius, La Poire, L'Orange and Le Citron flavored vodkas.

Bad Bunny 'Culture War' Spurs Erika Kirk to Call Turning Point’s Halftime Show the ‘Pro-America’ Option

Wed, 02/04/2026 - 5:05pm

Bad Bunny’s upcoming Super Bowl halftime performance has become a flashpoint in America’s ongoing culture wars, prompting a sharp response from Erika Kirk, who says Turning Point USA’s alternative halftime show is meant to offer a distinctly “pro-America” option for viewers.

The debate comes just days after Bad Bunny made history at the Grammy Awards, becoming the first artist to win Album of the Year for a Spanish-language album with DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS. The Puerto Rican superstar also took home trophies for Best Música Urbana Album and Best Global Music Performance, cementing his status as one of the most influential artists in the world ahead of his Super Bowl moment.

Appearing on The Story with Martha MacCallum with guest host Trace Gallagher, Kirk framed Turning Point USA’s counter-programming as both a cultural statement and a tribute to her late husband, Charlie Kirk.

“It's powerful, because what Charlie always loved and knew is that he wanted to be in the forefront of the culture war,” Kirk said. “He would be fist-pumping with this. He'd be so stoked.”

Turning Point USA announced its “All-American Halftime Show” in response to the NFL’s decision to feature Bad Bunny as the official Super Bowl halftime headliner. The alternative broadcast will stream during halftime and feature performances by Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice and Gabby Barrett.

While Kirk acknowledged that Bad Bunny’s music resonates with a massive global audience, she said the organization’s goal is not to attack the NFL’s halftime choice but to provide what she described as a family-friendly option rooted in patriotism and shared values.

“That's the thing that's so beautiful about Turning Point USA and all of our programs. It's holistic. It's for the entire home," said Kirk. "It's for every age. And so for us to be able to provide an alternative that's pro-America, that's just pro everything — that's not the opposite of what they're putting out there, I don't want to go into details and bash that, because there's apparently an audience that wants that — but there's a larger audience that wants ours."

Kirk also praised the artists who agreed to participate, calling their decision “very brave,” and emphasized that Turning Point USA’s mission extends beyond politics into culture, faith, and the home.

“The artists that have teamed up with us, I just want to say thank you to them. It's very brave of them to do this. And they have partnered with us without hesitation," said Kirk, adding, " It's one of those things where, at Turning Point USA, we're doing more than just being in one little orbit in space within the country. I mean, we're making a huge impact. We always have, always will. And that will be our mission to continue moving forward and honoring Charlie until my last breath.”
