Below Deck Down Understew Joe Caron made a hasty exit before the first charter after receiving devastating news that her grandfather, who was already battling cancer, had been hospitalized.

As the rest of the crew hustled to prepare for their first group of charter guests, The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, Captain Jason Chambersassisted Joe with her departure, noting that emergencies can arise at any point—even before a season officially begins.

“Look, I’ve been in yachting a long time,” Captain Jason said. “I’ve seen crew come and go during charter, at the start of charter, at the end of charter. We just can’t let this rock the boat. We need to keep moving, stay positive, and get through it.”

Heading into what the crew anticipated would be a challenging charter, losing a crew member was far from ideal. However, Below Deck viewers are no strangers to watching crews navigate charters while short-staffed—situations that often present an opportunity for cast members to either rise to the occasion or falter under pressure.

While many seasons across the franchise have seen crew members come and go, only a handful of Below Deck installments have experienced a cast departure before the season even begins.

How many 'Below Deck' crew members have exited before the season began?

In addition to Joe, only two other Below Deck crew members departed before the season began.

The first crew member to leave before the season launch was Below Deck Season 8 deckhand, Avery Russell.  The deckhand who showed the most promise among the crew received a phone call from home that his grandmother was critically ill prior to the first charter. Like Joe, he struggled with his decision, but ultimately left the boat.

The next pre-season crew member to leave was bosun Ruán Irving, who departed under very different circumstances on Below Deck Mediterranean Season 8. Unlike Joe and Avery, Ruán never saw the first charter due to questionable documentation that Captain Sandy Yawn learned was forged for the show. He was swiftly escorted off the boat, and deckhand Luka Brunton took over as bosun.

A nationwide search is underway as Savannah Guthrie's family continues to face the unimaginable. The disappearance of the Today Show host's 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, has captivated America and resulted in an outpouring of love and prayers to bring the beloved family matriarch home safely.

Nancy Guthrie was forcibly taken from her home in the Catalina Foothills neighborhood of Tucson, Arizona, sometime after the evening hours of Saturday, January 31. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has said that evidence indicates that Nancy was taken against her will, although no suspect has been identified at this point.

When asked about his neighborhood becoming an active crime scene, Lamie states, "people feel unsettled. I wouldn’t say fearful, but obviously, this is shocking. This is a very quiet, safe neighborhood." He went on to describe the massive search effort that includes drones, helicopters, and search and rescue volunteers casing the mountains and scouring the traditionally peaceful neighborhood.

When asked about the neighborhood's response, Lamie stated that the Sheriff's office has asked residents to check their acre-plus properties, underbrush areas, and provide ring video footage to assist with the search. He called the situation "horrible," and said that "everyone is hoping for Nancy's safe return."

In a public statement on Tuesday, February 3, Pima Sheriff Chris Nanos continued to urge the public to assist with the search efforts by calling in tips or leads to 1-800-CALL-FBI in addition to the Pima County Sheriff’s Office number, 520-351-4900. 

Nancy Guthrie is described as being in declining physical health, but does not present any cognitive deficits. She is approximately 5 feet, 5 inches tall, 150 pounds, and has brown hair and blue eyes.

Saturday Night Liveis officially heading across the pond.

The U.K. spin-off of the legendary comedy series unveiled its cast on Wednesday, Feb. 4. The key players of SNL U.K.'s ensemble are Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, Ania Magliano, Annabel Marlow, Al Nash, Jack Shep, Emma Sidi, and Paddy Young.

The cast consists of primarily U.K. based comedians, TikTok stars, and television and stage performers. The series is executive produced by Lorne Michaels and will premiere on March 21 on the British broadcasting service Sky for a six episode run.

"The U.K. is absolutely packed with incredible comedy talent right now and this cast represents the freshest voices we have," said lead producer James Longman. "They’re bold, exciting and of course, incredibly funny. The chemistry between them is something special and we can’t wait to share this funny group of people with the world."

The executive director of unscripted entertainment at Sky, Phil Edgar Jones, also said, "We all need a laugh like never before, so we’re beyond excited to bring Saturday Night Live to the U.K., only 50 short years after it first launched in the U.S. The show’s long-standing legacy of discovering and nurturing outstanding comedy talent speaks for itself, and this U.K. version will build on that legacy with the support of Lorne Michaels, a brilliant local production team, and an exciting new generation of voices."

The first celebrity host and musical guest have not yet been announced. Similarly to the U.S. version, episodes of SNL U.K. will be written and rehearsed in the week leading up to the live show in front of a studio audience.

Liz Clare will serve as the director for the series and Daran Jonno Johnson was named as head writer.

But here’s why we’re humming the Paula Cole classic: The show is being run by Greg Berlanti, the man who pulled the strings on Dawson’s Creek's for years.

Berlanti got his start as a staff writer on the then WB show, then climbed ranks to executive producer and showrunner after only one year, per Deadline. Largely responsible for shaping the tone of the beloved series, he transitioned it toward more emotionally driven and character-based storytelling. 

Following the series’ bow, Berlanti directed crowd-pleasers including Fly Me to the Moonand Love Simon, wrote for series such as Everwood and You, and produced cult-followed hits like Red, White & Royal Blue and Riverdale. 

With How to Survive Without Me, Berlanti is writing, producing, and showrunning with Bathsheba “Bash” Doran, known for Beef, Boardwalk Empire, and Masters of Sex. 

Jackson joins Ray Romano in the pilot drama. He plays -- and stop us if you’ve heard this one -- a chef. As Cooper, he’s on the precipice of opening a members dining club in Los Angeles.

According to Variety, per the series' logline, “Cooper is literally carrying forward his mother’s recipes and approach to food. He presents as confident and a player, but he’s suffering in silence — keeping a secret that could destroy both his lifelong friendships and the culinary career he’s built in his mother's honor.”

If that doesn’t sound like the brooding, mysterious, tortured Pacey Witter we all know, love, and fiercely miss, we don’t know what does. 

Romano plays Leo, the family’s patriarch “suddenly performing the lead role of parent that he never auditioned for.”

This will be one of several Dawson's Creek reunions for Jackson. Not only did he catch up with creekside buddies, including Berlanti, last September to honor James Van Der Beek, but he's starring in Katie Holmes' latest directorial project, Happy Hours, in which she also stars.

From the rest of the details we have so far about the HBO Max drama, Leo has five adult children. So, we have quite a few more casting announcements to look forward to.

How to Survive Without Me is in the early stages of development, with no official premiere date, as the project is a pilot and has not yet been ordered to series. So, stay tuned.

New details about the search for Nancy Guthrie have been reported on Wednesday, Feb. 4.

According to TMZ, authorities are investigating a possible link between Guthrie's disappearance and an alleged neighborhood trespasser who was reported to police by another resident in the area in January.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department told the outlet that an "elderly man" who lives less than 10 minutes from Guthrie, had phoned police to report a trespasser at his home last month. TMZ spoke with the man, who claimed that he saw someone in his yard after being alerted by a motion sensor that triggered a floodlight.

Now, lead investigators are trying to see if there's a connection between the two cases.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department did not immediately respond to Parade's request for comment.

Guthrie is the 84-year-old mother of Today anchor, Savannah Guthrie. Authorities say that they believe that Nancy may have been kidnapped from her home in the Catalina Foothills of Arizona, just north of Tucson. She was last seen by her daughter, Annie Guthrie, who went to dinner with her on Saturday, Jan. 31, and dropped her off at home around 9:30 p.m. local time.

Concerns about Nancy's whereabouts grew when she didn't attend church on Sunday, Feb. 1. Authorities are working tirelessly to find Nancy and to bring her home safely. They've also been piecing together a timeline of events that occurred at Nancy's home, and believe that she was taken in the middle of the night. One key giveaway according to a law enforcement source who spoke with Fox News Digital is that Nancy's pacemaker allegedly stopped syncing with her Apple watch around 2 a.m. local time.

As of Wednesday, Feb. 4, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said that he believes that Nancy is alive.

"She’s present. She’s alive, and we want to save her," Nanos said during an interview that aired on Today.

The Today show family is supporting Savannah Guthrie during a very difficult moment in her life.

As the Today co-anchor’s 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, remains missing after reportedly being taken from her Arizona home, fans, colleagues, and friends have all been sending their prayers that she's found safe.

Carson Daly's wife, Siri Daly, took to Instagram to reveal that while it's her 45th birthday, she wants nothing more than for law enforcement to bring Nancy home.

"Today is my birthday," she began the post, adding, "If I could collect 45 years worth of birthday wishes and focus them all on one thing, it would be to bring my friend’s mother home."

"This photo was taken at the beginning of my friendship with Savannah, and the first time I met dear Nancy," she explained of the photo she used as a featured image, in which Siri and Savannah bumped their pregnant bellies together and smiled for the camera.

"Please pray with me. And for ANY tips/concerns, call 1-800-CALL-FBI," she concluded the post.

Savannah and Carson's friendship goes way back, as they have long been fixtures on the NBC morning show.

A prayer vigil for Nancy is set for Feb. 4, who was last seen at her home on the evening of Saturday, Jan. 31, before being "taken against her will" in the middle of the night, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department (CSPD) said during their investigation.

Kate Middletonis marking World Cancer Day with a personal reflection that looks back on the uncertainty she faced during her own health journey.

On Tuesday, February 4, the Princess of Wales shared a short video message on Instagram to honor the global awareness day. Middleton narrated the clip with a calm voiceover, while footage showed her meeting patients and staff during a January 2025 visit to The Royal Marsden Hospital’s Chelsea site—where she later confirmed she had received treatment.

“On World Cancer Day, my thoughts are with everyone who is facing a cancer diagnosis, undergoing treatment or finding their way through recovery,” the royal said. “Cancer touches so many lives—not only patients, but the families and friends and caregivers who walk beside them.”

Middleton first revealed in March 2024 that she was undergoing cancer treatment, stepping away from public duties to focus on her health. She later shared in September 2024 that she had completed chemotherapy, and in January 2025 announced she was in remission following her visit to The Royal Marsden. That same day, she and husband Prince Williamwere named Joint Patrons of The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust.

A royal source recently suggested to the Times that the Princess now sees her cancer journey as something meaningful to share, noting that going through a health crisis can slow life down and clarify what truly matters. “On a very human level, if you go through an experience like this, it changes you,” the source said to the outlet. “And it can change you for the good.” According to the source, the experience ultimately strengthened both Middleton and the Prince’s relationship.

That shift has also shown up in practical ways at home. In recent months, the couple have adjusted their family life, including moving their primary residence from Adelaide Cottage to Forest Lodge in Windsor in October 2025.

In a new interview with Parade, Mellencamp opened up about the co-star who became a constant presence in her life long after her final season: Kyle Richards.

“Kyle was there with me in the hospital, like rotating in and out with a couple of my other friends, living there because nobody ever wanted me to be alone.”

That experience, she explained, reshaped her understanding of what the franchise gave her.

Instead, the star says the relationship that emerged from the show became one of the most important in her life.

“But, like, I met my best friend there, and she takes abundantly good care of me, and I'm forever grateful," said Mellencamp.

Donald Trump has reportedly stepped in to lend his support to Savannah Guthrie and her family.

As the search continues for the Today anchor's 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, the president is said to have personally called Savannah to offer "words of support" to her and her family.

NBC News'Tom Llamas confirmed that the call came from the president off-camera after his White House interview with Trump on Wednesday, Feb. 4.

"We also want to mention, after our interview, off-camera, the president called Savannah Guthrie and spoke to her, offering words of support for her and her family as they search for their mother," Llamas said.

The president previously addressed Nancy's disappearance during a press conference at the Oval Office on Tuesday, Feb. 3, where a reporter asked if he had been briefed on the ongoing situation involving the Today show host's mother.

"I think it's terrible," Trump said, while confirming that he would commit to sending more federal agents to assist in the search for Nancy.

Noting at the time that he had planned to call Savannah "later on," Trump went on to say, "I think it's a terrible thing. I always get along very good with Savannah."

The president further called Nancy's case a "very unusual situation," while insisting, "We're gonna find out [what happened]."

The search for Savannah's mother entered its fourth day on Wednesday, after Nancy was last seen at her home outside of Tucson, Ariz., on the evening of Saturday, Jan. 31.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanosreleased a statement on Wednesday to confirm that investigators have not yet identified any suspects or persons of interest in the case, and that detectives are currently "working closely" with the Guthrie family in attempts to bring Nancy home safely.

The special edition vinyls were announced months after The Cure revealed they were performing multiple music festivals across Europe this summer, including Primavera Sound, Firenze Rocks, North Festival, Electric Castle, Festival De Nimes, Way Out Festival and more.

The Cure was formed in Crawley, England, by Robert Smith and Lol Tolhurst in 1976. Their 1979 debut album, Three Imaginary Boys and multiple singles helped the band find their success during the emerging post-punk and new wave movements that were gaining prominence in the United Kingdom. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Smith started experimenting with different styles and genres, introducing more pop music to their discography, which led them to achieve mainstream success.

During their 50-year tenure as a band, The Cure has released 14 studio albums, with their most recent being Songs of a Lost World in November 2024, which won them their first Grammy award for Best Alternative Music Album on Sunday evening. In addition, the band also has seven live albums, three remix albums, seven compilation records, eight box sets and 12 EPs.

One of the band's compilation albums includes Greatest Hits, which was released in November 2001. When the band's relationship with their former record label Fiction Records was coming to a close, The Cure had to release one final album for the label. Smith agreed, but under the condition that he could choose the tracks himself. In addition, the group also recorded a special studio album released as a bonus disc titled Acoustic Hits, which consists of 18 stripped-down versions of songs from Greatest Hits.

Greatest Hits features various popular songs sung by The Cure, such as "Friday I'm In Love," remixes of "Lullaby," "Just Like Heaven" and "Lovesong," "In Between Days" and "Why Can't I Be You?." Two new tracks — "Cut Here" and "Just Say Yes" — were also included. All of the songs were newly remastered by Tim Young.

Super Bowl snacks are a subjective topic. Everyone has their favorites—just like teams—and everyone wants their picks to be a part of the game-day spread. For me, it's all about pigs in a blanket forever and always (because mustard is my favorite condiment and an essential dipping sauce for PIAB), but a close second would be deviled eggs. Or boneless buffalo bites. Not chicken wings—bites. 

My husband, Luke, on the other hand, a chef who grew up in South Dakota, is all about wings (not bites) and nachos. He loves nachos, just like my mother-in-law (hi, Kris!), but my one gripe with the cheesy chips is they get soggy quickly, and then they're ruined for me. Unlike buffalo bites, which can sit around for hours IMO, nachos need to be consumed within the first two minutes. Not 30–40 minutes and an Uber delivery ride later, which is usually how we have them.

So on a recent football Sunday, Luke went to order nachos, and I thought, not again. "Why don't we make them so we don't have sad, soggy nachos for the game??" I begged, and he agreed, saying he would make green chile chili skillet nachos instead.

Before becoming the chef of Elm restaurant in New Canaan, Connecticut, Luke worked in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and lives for anything with green chiles: green chile cheeseburgers, green chile enchiladas and green chile chili. Having tried a few of his green chile chili sliders in the past, I knew these nachos would be epic. Here's what happened when he went into the kitchen to make them—and I tagged along.

You can obviously tweak a few of these ingredients based on your nacho preferences or what you have on hand, but for Luke's skillet nachos he pulled out 3 pounds of ground beef, a store-bought packet of chile seasoning, a cup of roasted poblano chiles (he roasted his own at his restaurant but regular canned green chiles work too) and a cup of pinto beans. 

Then, for toppings, he grabbed a bag of tortilla chips, shredded cheese, a container of crème fraîche (although you can use sour cream or Mexican-style crema) and pico de gallo. Store-bought pico works as a shortcut, although Luke whipped up his own with chopped tomatoes, red onion, cilantro and salt. Fresh, quick, perfect.

How to Make Luke's Skillet Nachos

After your pico is prepped, preheat your oven to 350° and get to work browning your meat. Luke set a pot over medium-high heat, added the ground beef, tossed in the chile seasoning packet and let it do its thing for about 5-10 minutes. Once the meat was browned, he added the green chiles and pinto beans, reduced the heat, covered the pot and let it simmer for another 10-12 minutes.

Once the chili was nice and thick, he started building the nachos by spreading the chili on the bottom of a shallow cast iron skillet, then adding the tortilla chips on top.

Next came the cheese. I'm a firm believer that more is more when it comes to cheese for nachos; thank god, my husband is too.

Once there was cheese touching each and every chip, he stuck the skillet under the broiler on high until it was perfectly melty for a few minutes. Notice I said a few. After not enough cheese, the worst thing that can happen to nachos is burnt cheese so don't leave your nachos under the broiler for too long!

Once the cheese was bubbling and the edges of the chips started to brown, he removed the skillet from the oven and topped the nachos with pico de gallo.

For the last step, he used a piping bag to drizzle on rows of crème fraîche, but sour cream or crema works great too.

My Honest Thoughts About His Skillet Nachos

"I wish your mom were here for these!" was the first thing out of my mouth after one dip. Best. Nachos. Ever! For a self-proclaimed nacho enthusiast who is admittedly very picky, Luke's skillet nachos checked all the boxes: crispy-not-soggy chips, melty cheese in every nook and cranny, and a flavor-bomb mouthful of green chile chili with every bite. Because the meat is on the bottom of the nachos instead of loaded on top, the chips didn't sog out as quickly and allowed us to go back for second scoops later on. The freshness of the pico de gallo and the creamy tang of the crème fraîche were the perfect toppers, but guac would also be great on these skillet nachos.

1. Choose the right cheese. While you can certainly get by with plain cheddar, Luke likes a medley of Colby, cheddar and Jack cheeses, which is usually sold as Mexican blend. Even my chef-husband uses the pre-shredded bag of cheese, so it's ok to skip the grating to save yourself some precious time. You wouldn't want to miss a touchdown, right?

2. Swap out the meat. If your SB menu is a little meat-heavy with wings, sliders and pigs in a blanket, you can swap the beef for a lighter option, like ground turkey or chicken. Just brown it the same way with seasonings and chiles.

3. Use a piping bag for a pro look. Sure, you could dollop the crème fraîche around your skillet with a spoon—or you can elevate your Super Bowl spread contribution with a pretty design. Use a piping bag or spoon your crème fraîche into a regular plastic bag, squeeze the bag to push the crème fraîche down to one corner of the bag, then snip a very small hole in the corner. (Start small. You can always cut a larger hole if your first attempt is too small.) Bonus points if you use football field markings as your design inspo.

It's not lost on me that Trader Joe's has no shortage of influencer-backed tasty snacks, but I have to admit this PB&J-style treat took me by surprise. For their small size, they're surprisingly filling, with my favorite part being the gooey, sticky strawberry filling, which easily steals the spotlight. And while I sometimes steer clear of the dense, chewy nature of certain granola bars, these are moist enough to cut through the toughness and perfectly balanced with sweet and savory notes.

Don't make the same mistake as me, and be sure to stock up on at least two boxes upon your next TJ's run. Actress Sarah Michelle Gellar, who is executive producing and starring in a new series set in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer universe this year, shared a glimpse of her busy day-to-day life in her latest social media update.

In a new video that she captioned, "All in a days work, a long day," the 48-year-old brought fans along as she did an intense workout before getting glammed up for some promotions and other activities for the new competition show Star Search.

Nachos have always been a Super Bowl essential, but Chipotle customers found a way to make them feel fresher and more customizable. By ordering components separately and assembling them at home, fans could control portions, toppings and heat levels while still getting the flavors they love. The hack gained traction online, especially among people hosting watch parties who wanted something easy yet special.

Chipotle is officially bringing that idea to its digital menu for the first time ever. From Feb. 5–8, the chain will offer its Game Day Nacho Hack exclusively through the Chipotle app and website. Each bundle includes two large bags of tortilla chips, queso blanco, guacamole, and salsas, with optional chicken or steak. The setup is designed to serve three to four people and is ready for fast pickup, making it a low-stress option for Super Bowl Sunday.

The timing lines up with Super Bowl LX, which takes place Feb. 8 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara with a 3:30 p.m. Pacific kickoff between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots. It's one of the biggest food days of the year, and Chipotle is clearly aiming to claim a spot on game day tables.

Why Chipotle Is Making It Official Now

Instead of airing an AI-generated commercial during the Super Bowl, Chipotle is leaning into digital culture and real-time engagement. During the game, the brand will drop up to $1 million in free entree codes through a one-time Instagram Reels video that appears after halftime and before the third quarter. The move reinforces Chipotle's focus on real ingredients while rewarding fans who are already tuned in.

There's more good news for longtime customers. Shortly after the game, Chipotle is bringing back its fan-favorite chicken al pastor for a limited time starting Feb. 10, with early access for rewards members on Feb. 9. Between the return of a beloved protein and the official debut of a once-unofficial nacho menu hack, Chipotle is clearly betting that familiar flavors and shareable food are the ultimate Super Bowl win.

A whopping one in three people in the U.S. doesn’t get the recommended amount of uninterrupted sleep, which, for the record, is between seven and eight hours per night.

The Popular Drink That Disrupts Sleep, According to Sleep Experts

According to Dr. Anne Marie Morse, DO, a neurologist and sleep doctor, alcohol is the most widely self-prescribed sleep aid because it leads to feeling drowsy and can make you fall asleep faster. But she emphasizes that, contrary to what many people think, alcohol does not support sleep. In fact, it disrupts it—big time.

“Alcohol suppresses REM sleep, our vivid dreaming stage of sleep that also has importance for memory,  emotional processing, creativity and mood,” Dr. Morse tells Parade. Scientific research backs this up. A 2025 scientific review published in the journal Sleep Medicine Reviews found that the more alcohol one consumes, the more REM sleep is disrupted.

While alcohol may lead to falling asleep faster, Dr. Morse says that sleep is lighter; alcohol gets in the way of getting into deep sleep. This, she reveals, can lead to waking up more easily throughout the night, explaining, “Add in the fact that it also has a diuretic effect; you will also have a greater need for nighttime bathroom use."

According to Dr. Morse, drinking alcohol also increases the risk of breathing problems during sleep (specifically snoring and sleep apnea) because of the muscle-relaxing effects it has on the muscles of the upper airway.

If you have been using alcohol to fall asleep, even that “benefit” won’t last.

“While alcohol is a sedative that can help with falling asleep initially, its effectiveness diminishes over time. People often find that the same amount of alcohol stops working, leading them to consume more to achieve the same sleepy effect,” says Dr. Michael Gradisar, PhD, a sleep researcher, clinical psychologist specializing in sleep disorders and the head of sleep science at Sleep Cycle.

What if You Have Alcohol Early In the Evening?

Clearly, winding down with an alcoholic beverage right before bed isn’t a great habit to get into if you want to get the sleep your body needs. But what if you have it early in the evening, such as during a pre-dinner cocktail hour or enjoying a glass of wine or two with dinner? 

Unfortunately, Dr. Morse says that this can still get in the way of getting good sleep. “On average, your body metabolizes about one standard drink per hour. Heavy drinking, even early, can still leave alcohol or its stimulating withdrawal effect active by bedtime,” she explains.

Even just one alcoholic drink can impair sleep.

“Although it may be ‘just a glass of wine,’ the question is… is it? A 5-ounce glass of wine is considered a standard drink; however, many times at home or in a restaurant, a standard pour may be more likely 6 to 9 ounces. This misalignment between what is one drink and what we may be having as one drink can lead to differences in impact,” she continues.

How To Unwind Without Alcohol

If you have been using alcohol as a sleep aid, you may be wondering how quickly your body can recover. Unfortunately, if you’ve been relying on it to fall asleep, Dr. Gradisar reveals that it can take a while.

“[What’s challenging] is that when people cut back or abstain, their sleep often gets worse before it improves, which can discourage them from breaking the habit,” he says.

His advice? Stick it out. “Cutting back is a great first step and will eventually lead to significantly better sleep. If you enjoy the ritual of an evening drink, but don’t want it to disrupt your sleep, Dr. Morse recommends replacing alcohol with an alcohol-free beer, alcohol-removed wine or zero-proof spirit—there are so many great ones to try! “Just watch out for the sugar and caffeine,” she adds, since these ingredients can get in the way of good sleep. She says that herbal teas like chamomile, lemon balm or passionflower all help the body relax as well.

To further support your wind-down routine, Dr. Morse suggests five to 10 minutes of slow, diaphragmatic breathing or a short guided meditation. She explains that gentle stretching or yoga can be beneficial too because it releases muscle tension.

After spending some time meditating or stretching, Dr. Morse says to dim the lights, put your screens away and power down with a relaxing hobby, like reading. This routine will prime both the body and mind for a night of great sleep.

For many people, giving up alcohol completely may be unrealistic—and that’s fine. But it’s still important to realize the impact it can have on sleep. Save alcoholic drinks for special occasions and use an alcohol-free version as a replacement for your typical nights at home.
