Orange Cat Getting Ready for Bed in His Footed Jammies Looks Just Like a Human Baby
There's no doubt that getting a good night's sleep is the best way to not hate your life the next day. But that's easier said than done—especially when it comes to kids and/or pets. It's taken us a while to establish a solid nighttime routine with our three kids, three cats, and two dogs, but now, everyone's catching some z's and feeling good.
In case you need a little sleepy-time inspiration, Teddy, an Orange Cat who loves bedtime, has the purrfect string of events leading up to his shut-eye. OK, so it's really just sporting the cutest footie pajamas in the whole world, but Teddy's obsessed!
Close-up of a fluffy Orange Cat.I've never actually come across a cat who likes, or even allows, clothing of any kind. The internet rules! Seeing kitties like Teddy—a sweet boy who enjoys his jam-jams—allows me to live vicariously while my cats decide they'd really rather not.
@malpluscatsjammies always put this boy right to sleep 💤
♬ Sunlight Waltz - Lo-fi CAT RagdollAs one person described the tangerine baby's reaction, Teddy is: "Very attentive. Very mindful. Very demeow," and I couldn't have said it better myself. He's not just any Orange Cat looking for trouble, but a distinguished gentleman who knows the sight of his pajamas means bedtime, and he's more than happy to oblige.
Teddy is the newest member of the family and the light of Mom's life. His feline sisters, Billie, Georgie, Phoebe, Rockie, and Mary-Kate, didn't instantly accept him, but they're all good now. Luckily, he didn't take it personally!

When "The Tedster" isn't waiting for his pajamas to get cozy, Mom has a backup plan. First, a few cuddles, followed by the blanket burrito wrap, and finally, let the relaxation set in. I guess you could say swaddling isn't only for human toddlers!

♬ son original - @disneyloova Easy Bedtime Routine Tips for CatsIt may seem like an impossible feat to get your cat to sleep through the night so you can, too, but there's hope. As with children, it's all about routine, repetition, and patience.
Sleepopolis recommends these steps to start:
- Make regular feedings throughout the day.
- Provide plenty of mental stimulation during active hours.
- Initiate playtime with a wand or "hunt" play to wear them out.
- Reward them with treats to signal a sleep cycle.
- Create a consistent "lights out" signal, such as wrapping them in a blanket or putting their pajamas on (like Teddy!).
If your kitty doesn't get it at first, keep at it. Soon enough, you'll have a sleepy-eyed baby like Teddy who looks forward to sleep.

PetSmart's $8 'Seasonably Stylish' Sweater Is a Springtime Must-Have
Parade Pets aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.
Karma the Coonhound had an incredible sense of fashion, and I wish I learned from her. Whether she was celebrating a Football Sunday with her New York Jets vest or wearing a tiara on New Year’s Eve, Karma was a master dresser. She even knew how to make a yellow rain poncho work!
Karma was one of those dogs who, understandably, just wanted to be cozy. If you have a best friend like Karma, then you'll want to pounce on the "seasonably stylish" Top Paw pet sweater, which you can snag from PetSmart for as little as $8.
This Sweater Makes Your Furry Friends Look Good and Feel GoodTwo things immediately stood out to me as a Dog Dad when I first saw this deal. First off, that pup (below) looks genuinely happy — it’s that same look of pure joy Winnie gets the second we start playing fetch. It’s that expression of pure joy and excitement that will always warm my heart.
Then, I saw the fabric, and how well the sweater seemed to fit. You can design something with an awesome look, though that only means so much if you’re squirming trying to get comfortable. We’ve all been there, while at a wedding or at picture day in elementary school.
3 Things to Know- Those who have dogs or cats in their lives will be glad to know that this pet sweater currently has a 4.0-star (out of 5.0) rating on PetSmart’s website, with several shoppers sharing photos of their friends all dressed up.
- The pet sweater comes in four colors and five sizes, ranging from extra small (XS) to extra large (XL). Note: Shoppers recommend sizing up!
- While this sweater typically retails for $20, this PetSmart exclusive sale drops it to only $8 — just apply promo code SAVE20 at checkout.
Courtesy of PetSmart
Check out what some past buyers have said in their reviews:
- “The sweater is well made but what I really like is the holes where the legs go through. Good fit without being too tight!”
- “The fabric feels soft and comfortable, and the colors are vibrant and really nice. My dog looks adorable in it and seems very cozy.”
So, the colors are a win, the fabric itself is getting good feedback, and the consensus is that the pet friends are happy. That’s the endgame, right?
The Bottom Line: Just check the face on that pup again. That’s all I can think of when I see this sweater. That’s the look of someone who loves what they’re wearing, and we should all be so lucky.
This Simple Vet-Approved Dental Routine Could Save Your Dog’s Life
It’s no secret that dogs have a way of showing unconditional love. They give us endless boosts of serotonin, snuggle up at a moment’s notice and greet us with pure excitement every time we walk through the door.
The thing is, returning that love means more than treats and belly rubs. Making sure our furry friends stay healthy matters just as much, and when it comes to daily habits that can have a big impact over time, dental care sits high on the list.
Thankfully, with the help of experts like Michael “Dr. T” Tokiwa, aka The Collaborative Vet, we know exactly what steps to take to reduce bacteria buildup, keep breath fresh and support a long, healthy life free of infection and other serious health issues.

The Importance of Proper Dental CareFebruary was National Pet Dental Health Month, and even though we’re now a week into March, dental care is a year-round responsibility every pet owner should take seriously. And if you’ve ever wondered why we can’t use our own toothpaste on our dogs, it’s because the foaming agents and chemicals that whiten and freshen our teeth can actually upset your little one's stomach.
Instead, we use enzyme-based toothpastes made for pets, which help break down tartar without upsetting their stomachs. With tasty flavors like mint and poultry generally available, it’s often the part of teeth cleaning your dog will actually enjoy. That said, not every dog will love a full brushing, but dental care is essential because the bacteria that builds up on their teeth can lead to more serious health problems down the line.
“My concern is that bacteria can cause infection and get into the bloodstream,” Dr. T tells viewers in a YouTube video. “It then flows from the mouth to vital organs like the kidneys, heart, and liver.”
Dr. T also notes that it’s not uncommon for 75 to 80 percent of pets by age three to have some form of moderate dental disease—a condition that is completely preventable. In fact, it’s not unusual for pets with kidney issues to also have poor dental health.

How to Properly Brush Your Dog’s Teeth in 3 Simple Steps1. Toothpaste and toothbrush: This is the first line of defense. Use toothpaste liberally and brush their teeth gently, focusing on the exterior of each row. Starting young will help your dog get used to the process, and ideally you should brush twice a day, though once a day is the gold standard or after every meal if you can.
2. Toothpaste and microfiber cloth: In addition to a good brushing, an additional wipe down with toothpaste and a microfiber cloth helps reinforce the cleanup while further freshening their breath. Simply wrap the cloth around your finger, add an enzyme-based toothpaste and gently wipe their teeth and gums clean.
3. Daily dental chew: This is the fun part. Dental chews help grind away tartar and double as a yummy snack for your dog. Your furry friend will enjoy it as a reward for getting through brushing, and it will freshen their breath and help remove any extra tartar during chewing.
Unconditional love goes both ways, and our pets deserve the best when it comes to their health and long-term care. Regular brushing is the most important thing you can do to prevent dental problems in the present and future.
If your dog’s breath stinks when they lick your face, take that as an immediate sign that tartar and bacteria are building up. And while routine dental visits aren’t always popular with pets and can be expensive, staying on top of brushing and checkups is far better than waiting years and risking extractions or infections that could lead to even more serious health problems.

Bernese Mountain Dog's Post-Dinner Zoomies Will Instantly Brighten Your Day
My dog is turning eight this year, and somehow, she still has just as much energy as she did when she was a puppy. She is always ready to pick a play fight with one of her cat siblings, and she will chase her human sister around the yard for hours in any weather. And of course, zoomies are still very much a thing for her... especially before bedtime.
Plenty of dogs hang onto their zoomie habit for long past their puppy years, and that appears to be the case for the Bernese Mountain Dog in the video below, who turns into total chaos after eating dinner.
@erniethebernPoor lamb got caught in the post dinner zoomies #bernesemountaindogs #bernerpuppy #berneseoftheday #dogsofttiktok #bernerlife
♬ original sound - EpicGamingMusicIn this video from @erniethebern on TikTok, we see exactly what happens at Ernie's house after dinner is finished: Mega zoomies, and nobody is safe, not even his lamb stuffy.
Ernie's just prancing around, throwing his lamb into the air (and he can get it surprisingly high for a dog who doesn't have hands). Sometimes, he even flings it clear across the room. That's impressive!
What really gets me about this video is how truly happy Ernie appears to be. He has a full belly and a toy to play with — what could be better?
Related: Bernese Mountain Dog's Precious 'Understanding' With the Mailman Is Heart-Melting
Some Dogs Love Having Zoomies After a MealZoomies (which are also known as FRAPs, or Frenetic Random Activity Periods) are both normal and adorable in dogs, and if you notice that yours likes to zoom around after dinner, toward the end of their day, you are most definitely not alone!
Having zoomies is how many dogs get their excess energy out, and night is a big time for that to happen. They're reunited with their humans again after they may have been gone at work all day, they have a second wind from the food they just ate, and that energy left over from the day has to go somewhere before they wind down for bed.
As Outward Hound points out, you'll probably notice them engaging in this behavior like Ernie does for a few minutes, and then they'll collapse, a bit depleted from all that fun, which means their mission has been accomplished!
If it helps them sleep better, what could be wrong with that? Maybe having zoomies after dinner is something that we humans need to try, too.

Golden Retriever 'Finally Realizes He's the Handsome Guy in the Mirror' in Cute Clip
It only took three years for Charlie the Golden Retriever to realize that the handsome boy he's been admiring in the mirror is indeed himself. The look of shock and recognition he gives his mom when the lightbulb goes off is nothing short of perfection.
In the following TikTok, Charlie's mom says to him, "That's you in the mirror," as the pup's head swivels back and forth between her and his reflection in the full-length mirror. It finally dawns on him who he's looking at, and the moment we see his expression turn from confusion to comprehension is LOL hysterical.
@laurenandcodyBro just met himself
♬ Funny - Gold-TigerWith his wheels still turning, Charlie admires himself a little longer before letting out a small whine as if to say, "I don't trust that dude," and turns away.
"Are you scared of yourself?" his mom asks.
Possibly, but fans of the gorgeous Golden think otherwise:
"He is stunningly handsome, probably surprised himself," said one.
"He’s like 'omg! I’m gorgeous!!!'" agrees another.
Either way, life will never be the same for Charlie now that he's discovered a doppelgänger hanging around the house.

Are Dogs Really Self-Aware?People often wonder whether dogs are truly self-aware — meaning they understand themselves as individuals separate from others. Traditionally, scientists have studied this using the famous mirror test, where an animal is marked with dye and given access to a mirror to see if it recognizes its own reflection. While some animals pass this test, dogs typically don’t.
But that may not mean they lack self-awareness. The mirror test relies on sight, and dogs experience the world very differently from humans. Instead of vision, their primary sense is smell. What if scientists changed the parameters to be more dog-friendly?
Researchers have explored this idea using the sniff test of self-recognition. In experiments, dogs were presented with samples of their own scent, altered versions of it, and scents from other dogs. The results showed that dogs spent more time investigating their own odor when it had been changed, suggesting they recognized it as their personal scent.
In other words, dogs may not recognize themselves in a mirror, but they seem to recognize themselves through smell. Scientists still debate whether this counts as true self-awareness, but it offers an intriguing glimpse into how dogs understand themselves and the world around them.
Anecdotally, however, we believe that Charlie did in fact recognize himself in that mirror and is still squarely on the fence about exactly how he feels about it!

Funny Kitty Is 'Too Stunned to Speak' After First Glimpse of New Cat Sitter
We have a few dog sitters we gratefully call on when we travel. Our dogs know them well, but we had to go through an introduction process first. My Dachshund and my Pug mix are both very sensitive and need time to warm up to someone, so they spent some time with every dog sitter we've ever had before they stayed at our house.
Aslan the cat may have needed a preview of his cat sitter as well by the expression on his face when the new kitty caretaker walked in the door.

"It's okay Aslan, I promise," she gently told the cat as he stared at her in shock.
Aslan's mouth literally hung open as he glared at her, wide-eyed with surprise. The pretty kitty was literally gobsmacked by this newcomer and the expression on his face spoke volumes. Julie tried to flatter the fur baby in the hopes of smoothing things over.
"Your perfect face is so perfect," she told him, though Aslan was unmoved. He gaped at her in utter amazement, making for quite a comical sight. His face almost seemed to say, "How dare this stranger enter my home!"
Aslan's Brother Broke the IceThankfully, Aslan's kitty brother Moes wandered over to welcome the new sitter and cut the tension. Aslan relaxed a bit when he saw his sibling allow Julie to pet him. Finally, Aslan permitted her to approach him and make contact.
The flabbergasted feline let his guard down, and Julie was able to build a bridge of trust. Her gentleness and patience helped pave the way.
Followers got a kick out of the cat's reaction and noted his utter shock at Julie's arrival.
"He was too stunned to speak," one pointed out.

Tiny Pug Puppies Wrestling Look Like '2 Cinnamon Rolls Fighting Each Other'
Puppies are the epitome of cute with their floofy coats, round bellies, giant paws too big for their bodies, and childlike wonder at their surroundings. These fluffy fur babies often get into mischief trying to satisfy their infinite curiosity of the world around them, and it's highly entertaining to watch.
These Pug puppies were testing their athletic abilities when they got into a bit of a wrestling match and looked like two puffy bakery items rather than pooches.

Their coats were wrinkling as they sparred, boasting a sort of layered look in their fur. At one point, one Pug had their sibling in a headlock. The pinned pooch was able to wriggle out of the expert hold and tried running to safety. It was like watching a puppy version of Sumo wrestlers.
Apparently, the younger female pup was the dominant dog. "When your baby sister shows you who's boss... WOOF!" the caption shared.
Viewers of the video got a kick out of the commotion and noted the puppies' irresistible charm.
"They look like two cinnamon rolls fighting," one pointed out.
"I could literally watch this on repeat all day," another remarked.
"Aww those baby potatoes," a follower gushed.
"PFC - Pugs fighting championship," someone posted.
Pug Puppies' Color Can ChangeThese adorable pooches are born with a soft tail that curls over time. Pugs have a double coat that sheds year-round and can change color with age. Puppies are born a certain shade, but the color can shift or become more defined as they get older. The most common Pug colors include fawn, silver, black, and apricot.

German Shepherd Finds Her Way Back to the Woman Who Rescued Her in Total Miracle Moment
When you find a stray dog, the dream scenario is that they actually have a loving family, and you've reunited them. Maybe they give you some cash for the trouble. But either way, you've done a good deed!
Unfortunately, though, life is not always a dream scenario. For one German Shepherd, being abandoned simply meant that she would need to find her rescuer again, and that's exactly what she did:
@takarebearThis poor dog had been through hell. I am so happy that I found her alive. She won’t ever have to endure the crap she went through again! #dogrescue #animalwelfare #dumpeddog #dogsoftiktok #animalrescue

I can't imagine Keekee's joy when she ran back to that place and found that her safe person was still there. KeeKee was apparently in rough shape:
- She was underweight.
- There are signs of physical abuse.
- She was neglected.
Apparently, this is the second time that poor KeeKee has been outright dumped by her previous family. The first time, they reunited, only for them to dump her again. This time, she's not going back.

She also has stunning, super pointy ears, which you couldn't really see in the video. It's incredible what a little love can do:

♬ original sound - Vertical NostalgiaShe'll only continue to get better, too. Soon enough, she'll be so surrounded by love that she can truly start to heal.
What to Do When You Find a Dumped DogUnfortunately, as the weather starts heating up, there will be an increase in abandoned dogs (and pets in general). Spring is when "mating season" kicks off; after a dog has puppies, she is at risk of being abandoned.
An abandoned dog in the road.Image via Shutterstock / Right Perspective Images
Alternatively, if the litter was unwanted, the puppies might be dumped. Whatever the case, there are a few things you need to know:
- If at all possible, put on gloves before you touch them, especially if you have other pets.
- Check them for injuries/signs of illness.
- If you cannot take them in, you need to bring them to a shelter immediately.
- Try not to take them straight to a vet unless their circumstances are dire, if you're not planning on keeping or fostering them.
You also can't expect that they're happy and settled in right away if you do keep them: things will be rough for a while. That's okay! As Keekee proves, it's all worth it!

Maine Coon Kitten Has One Blue Eye and One Brown Eye—and Her Colors Are Stunning
There are cute kittens, and then there are kittens who make you stop scrolling because something about them looks almost unreal. A Tortie Maine Coon kitten named Miso is doing exactly that, thanks to a rare eye color combination that makes her look completely mesmerizing.

♬ original sound - wildmane_mainecoonsMaine Coon cats are famous for being affectionate, social, and surprisingly dog-like in their personalities. They tend to follow their families from room to room, greet people at the door, and often enjoy interactive play much more than the average kitty.
Speaking from experience, my Maine Coon Meatball behaves less like a traditional cat and more like a very fluffy roommate who wants to be involved in everything happening in the house.
He’s huge, extremely affectionate, and has a strange obsession with water. He regularly splashes in his water bowl as if he’s conducting a science experiment, and then looks very pleased with himself afterward.
Maine Coons also tend to be gentle, playful, and incredibly expressive, which is why so many people fall in love with them instantly.
If little Miso keeps growing into those striking Tortie colors and mismatched eyes, she’s going to be an absolutely breathtaking adult cat.

Tuxedo Cat Proves He's 'Just an Orange Cat in Formal Wear'—His Tail Confusion Says It All
Have you ever watched a cat be completely mesmerized by the discovery of its own tail? Not just interested but, literally, obsessed like it's some kind of alien creature and not part of his own body. Imagine being genuinely baffled and concerned as to why some weird, fuzzy “creature” won't just stop stalking?
That's Moggy the tuxedo cat’s entire vibe, and he is equal parts suspicious and intrigued by his own tail.
This adorable TikTok is going viral for all the right reasons. Moggy's human sets the scene, "Moggy isn't the brightest spark, bless him," which is honestly the sweetest way possible to say your cat might be extra special.
@katetremayneMoggy isn’t the brightest spark bless him #catsoftiktok #petsoftiktok #cats #pets #catslovers
♬ original sound - 🤍Then there's the POV: "A brain-eating bacteria would starve in his head."
Harsh but fair, according to tuxedo cat lovers in the comments.
Moggy's just sitting there minding his business when his tail does what tails do—it moves, and Moggy is suspiciously intrigued. He carefully keeps watch. Looking completely bewildered. It appears like this is brand new information for him, even though this tail has been attached to him since the day he was born.
People cannot get enough of his sweet, bewildered little expression.
"Tuxedo cats have zero brain cells," somebody announced, basically extending the orange cat no-brain-cells meme to include cats wearing fancy outfits.
"I fear the bacteria would get infected with whatever he has," took things even darker.

But then this comment became everything: "I once read Tuxedo Cats are just Orange cats in formal wear, and I've really never thought any different since."
Another person: "Tuxedo cats are just orange cats in fancy dress." Same energy, different words.
“The train of thought does not stop at his station, unfortunately," described where thoughts go around Moggy.
Someone got philosophical: "Does he even know he exists?"
Best comparison: "The WiFi connected, but there’s no internet."
Love came to the rescue: "We still love Moggy🤭"
Tuxedo Cats Share the Same Lovable Confusion as Orange CatsHere's the situation with Moggy. Turns out he's not special in his confusion. Apparently, a bunch of tuxedo cats have this same orange cat situation happening. Just dressed nicer while they're being confused.
Quick thing about tuxedos: not a breed. Just a color combo. Black cat, white chest and paws. That's all it is. It can happen in a variety of breeds; in Maine Coons, British Shorthairs, and it even happens in regular old mixed cats. Honestly, it doesn't matter what kind of cat you've got—if the color combo works out. Boom! You’ve got a tuxedo.
Personality stuff? Most tuxedos are very friendly, chatty, playful, and loyal-ish. Some people believe that tuxedo cats act more like dogs than cats in the way they get so attached.
Smart? More or less like any other cat, but it depends on each cat and maybe what kind of breed they are. Wearing a tuxedo doesn't make a cat smart or dumb, just well-dressed.
Except Moggy apparently missed that memo. The tail thing. Looking generally puzzled by existence, Moggy looks to be visibly struggling to complete a single thought other than, ‘Tail!’.

He's definitely got orange cat brain in a tuxedo cat body, and honestly, it's a great combination. It’s total vibe.

Sometimes the best cats aren't the clever ones doing all the cool tricks. Sometimes they're the cats staring at their own body parts like, "Wait, what IS that?" while you're dying laughing on the couch.
Moggy's doing absolutely great. He’s living his life to the fullest. He’s just doing it with zero thoughts happening in his head, and maximum adorable confusion. And that's perfect. He's perfect like this.

Better yet, they form strong bonds with their humans.
Though they love their independence (and may not be the best fit for homes with small kids), they're one of my favorite breeds, if only because they remind me of all the good times I had with my babies.

Fluffy Maine Coon ‘Shares His Fur’ With Chilly Sphynx Kitten
Sphynx cats have baffled me ever since I first learned about them when I was a child. I used to think they lost all their fur, not that they were born that way! How they were able to stay warm just didn't compute to me, either.
Recently, I found out that they all have different methods. For one Sphynx cat, the best way to stay warm is to steal fur from his brother. Luckily, he's a Maine Coon, so there's plenty to go around:
@taylornsmith19The new kitten is going well with all of the cats EXCEPT Dolly😂😂 She is our youngest though, so I expect it! #mainecoon #mainecoonsoftiktok #catmom #sphynx #catlover
♬ Heartwarming, everyday, funny BGM(1194980) - K's noteTaylor Smith definitely has a problem on her hands: there are three cats here, and only two of them are snuggling. The new Sphynx kitten's name is Wrigley, and as you might assume, he was more or less supposed to be a partner for Dolly, the other Sphynx cat. There are a few problems:
- Dolly doesn't really like kittens.
- Dolly prefers her Main(e) Man, Bowie the Maine Coon.
- Wrigley, the new kitten, also likes Bowie.
Poor Dolly is feeling a little cheated by the whole thing. Bowie is a nice boy, and he'll snuggle anyone. The kitten just got there first, and to be honest, he needs the snuggles more.

How to Keep Sphynx Cats WarmSphynx cats have some peach fuzz on most of their bodies, but they legitimately get cold a lot easier than furry cats. Additionally, Sphynx kittens have an even harder time keeping warm because of their size.

Luckily, these cats have been around for a long time. There are several ways you can keep a Sphynx cat warm, like:
- Putting sweaters on them.
- Making them blanket nests to sleep in.
- Keeping a heating pad on low heat, then covering it with a blanket.
Sphynx cats will seek out any source of heat they can, which can be dangerous. Keep them away from the stove, the dryer, and any open flames... But if you have a big, fluffy cat, that's just what the doctor ordered!

Golden Retriever Wags Tail With Pure Happiness After Seeing Mom in the Morning
There is something so special about the first few minutes of the morning, especially when a dog makes it feel like the best moment of the entire day. In this TikTok video, Moosey the Golden Retriever is flat on his back, completely relaxed, with his tail wagging like crazy the second he sees his human mom.
The post caption says, “My favorite part of the morning,” and honestly, that says it all. Moosey looks like he has decided there is no better way to start the day than by turning himself into one big, fluffy display of joy.
@mooseythegoldenretrieverMy favorite part of the morning #goldenretriever #dogsoftikok #mamasboy #puppytiktok
♬ sonido original - Vibes by LeyI can absolutely relate to that kind of greeting. When I wake up, my dog Lola comes right over, sits on my chest, and wags her tail like seeing me is the greatest event on earth. It makes my heart swell every single time. There is just something about being loved that openly, before coffee, before the day gets busy, before anything stressful has a chance to creep in.
Moosey has that same energy. He is not playing it cool for even one second. He is fully surrendered to the happiness of seeing his person, and it is impossible not to smile while watching it.
It is simple, but it captures one of those everyday pet moments that feels bigger than it should. Moosey is not doing a trick or making a mess, or causing chaos. He is just thrilled to be near someone he loves.
The tail wagging says plenty on its own, but the full-body softness of the moment makes it even sweeter. According to the AKC, a loose, sweeping tail wag is often part of a friendly greeting, and when dogs see a beloved person, that wag can become especially enthusiastic.
One of the funniest comments reads, “My cats yells at me to pour her food and turn on cat TV.” That contrast is perfect. Some pets greet the morning with affection, some with demands, and some with a very loud agenda. Moosey, though, seems to wake up and choose pure gratitude. He is not asking for anything in that moment except to share his happiness, and that is what makes the whole clip feel so warm and genuine.
It is a reminder that sometimes the best part of the day is not the big thing you planned or the thing you checked off your list. Sometimes, it's just a wagging tail, a soft belly-up flop, and a dog who looks at you like morning officially begins when you walk into the room.
Morning Routines Mean a Lot to DogsDogs often thrive on routine, and those little morning rituals can become deeply meaningful for them. A familiar wake-up, a calm greeting, and a few moments of connection can help your dog feel secure and settled before the day begins. That is part of why small routines like Moosey’s happy morning greeting can feel so powerful to both dogs and humans.
According to the AKC, tail wagging is not a one-size-fits-all signal, but a loose, sweeping wag paired with relaxed body language is often part of a friendly, happy greeting. Research the AKC cites also suggests dogs may wag more when seeing a beloved person, especially when visual cues are involved.
Moosey is basically a golden sunrise with fur.

German Shepherd Walks Everywhere Backwards and No One Can Figure It Out
German Shepherds are some of my favorite dogs in the world. I don't have one, and I never plan on getting one, but I will always stare at them when I see them. I think they're just such amazing dogs!
They have their quirks, too. For example, this German Shepherd loves walking everywhere backwards. Her mom was also convinced she was a Malinois for her first three years of life, but this quirk is 100% German Shepherd:
@lalaleggWe have always had German shepherds…. Everyone in my family & most of my extended have one…. She is definitely one of a kind #germanshepherd #dogsoftiktok #gsd #funnydog
♬ Heartwarming, everyday, funny BGM(1194980) - K's noteLauren and her German Shepherds live a very interesting life together. Apparently, she's been around German Shepherds for a very long time: her family has always had them. None of them has ever walked backwards until her, though.
Commenters are all saying the same thing: this is 100% normal. Their German Shepherds all do this. This sweet girl was also a rescue, so there might be something going on, but no one minds. It's awesome!
Related: German Shepherd With a Lion’s Mane Finally Perfects His ‘Roar'
Why Is My Dog Walking Backwards?German Shepherds are quirky enough to do this for fun and absolutely no other reason, but that's not always the case. If you find that your dog has suddenly started backing it up for seemingly no reason, it might be that:
- They're afraid of slipping on the floor.
- They're afraid in general and backing away from the threat.
- They're experiencing some kind of pain, and stepping forward makes it worse.
- They're having a potty problem.
- They're showing signs of a larger issue, like a cognitive disorder.
This behavior is more common in puppies, who are new to legs, and senior dogs, who are both prone to slipping and also at greater risk for developing cognitive issues. If it comes on suddenly, you should contact your vet.
How to Make Hard Floors Dog-FriendlyPlenty of dogs don't have a hard time on hard floors; mine don't! But if your dog needs a little support (or if they're just picky about the cold touching their paws), there's no shame in that!
Luckily, there are plenty of ways to make your hard floors easier on your pups, even though some of them might be a little ugly:
- Put down rugs in their frequently-traveled areas.
- Put down foam mats.
- Put down puppy pads.
You can also try putting booties on them to see if that helps. Narrowing down the cause of the issue is key! Additionally, always keeping their nails trimmed and in good shape will help make walking on harder surfaces more comfortable.

'Polite' Abandoned Dog Turns Pushy When Pizza Enters the Home
Isabel Klee is well-known in animal advocacy circles as a seasoned foster mom to over 30 dogs to date. Her current foster, a Shih-Tzu named Raven, is thriving under Klee's care after a recent surgery.
Klee recently found an abandoned dog near her Brooklyn home and brought him home to keep him safe. The precious pooch has been extremely sweet and polite, barely making a sound until the sight of a pizza slice caught his eye.

In the TikTok from @simonsits, the canine cutie was relaxing on the couch, looking like the picture of calm. Klee explained how the pooch has been a bit timid since he arrived at their house.
"He's been so polite and quiet until...," the text began, "we brought home pizza."
Once the little dog saw the pizza, he transformed into a vocal, assertive canine to be reckoned with as he barked in demand for a bite. Klee's fiancé, Jacob, sat on the couch as he enjoyed his pizza and seemed a bit surprised by the fur baby's outburst.
"You don't love me anymore because I won't give you pizza?" Jacob asked the defiant dog, who refused to be silenced until he had a slice.
The commotion caused Simon the Corgi mix to look up from his nap to see what was going on. Klee got a kick out of the dog's feisty personality coming to the surface.
"He's literally stewing," she laughed as the little pooch continued his demands.
"Who is this? Where did you come from?" Jacob asked in amazement at the change in the dog.
The fur baby tried several tactics to lobby for his cause. He closed in on Jacob, possibly as an intimidation strategy, then went to straight begging by standing on his hind legs.
Peace Was Restored After Pizza Was ProvidedKlee encouraged her fiancé to give the pooch a piece, but Jacob waited for the pup's manners to return.
"I want to give him a piece but I don't want to reward him for being rude," Jacob explained.
Finally, Jacob relented and gave the clamoring canine a few bites. The tiny dog even tried jumping up to reach the little piece Jacob held between his fingers, happy to have achieved his goal.
"What a production," Klee remarked as their home was quiet once again.

Bulldog–Frenchie Mix Puppy Gets Stuck Climbing Into a Basket and Tries To Play It Cool
Although French Bulldogs are instantly recognizable for their adorable bat ears and loaf-like bodies, it's their personalities that truly set them apart.
Their compact frames carry big opinions, steady confidence, and just enough mischief to keep life interesting. They're rarely shy, and when something doesn't go according to plan, they tend to handle it with surprising composure.
Case in point: Omar, a Bulldog–Frenchie Mix Puppy whose round little tushy got him stuck mid-climb while trying to squeeze into a basket.
Instead of panicking or yelping for help, Omar simply accepted his fate. He leaned into the moment, casually chewing on the basket handles as if this had been his intention all along.
You can see the predicament he found himself in in this February 28 Instagram from @omarthebulldog:
View this post on InstagramAs the mom to a French Bulldog mix, I can confidently say this tracks. They don't embarrass easily. If one of their antics lands them somewhere unexpected, they adjust and carry on. Omar, with his merle-speckled coat, seemed perfectly content draped awkwardly over the basket rim. And honestly, the stretch may have felt pretty good on his back.

French Bulldogs and Bulldogs Share a Playful, Resilient TemperamentBoth French Bulldogs and Bulldogs are known for their sturdy builds and easygoing personalities. The American Kennel Club describes French Bulldogs as affectionate, adaptable companions, while Bulldogs are noted for being calm, courageous, and friendly.
When these two breeds are combined, the result is often a compact dog with a big personality and a remarkably steady outlook. That blend of confidence and resilience helps explain why a puppy like Omar doesn't spiral when he gets stuck mid-climb. Instead of reacting dramatically, he settles in and carries on. It's a very on-brand response for both breeds.
Of course, even the most patient Bulldog–Frenchie mix has limits. In a March 2 Instagram, Omar gives a priceless "I just want some quiet" look when his baby sibling interrupts his beauty rest. You can see that relatable expression here:
View this post on InstagramOmar may have gotten stuck for a second, but like most dogs, he handled it with confidence and a little humor. That steady, silly streak is exactly why our pups bring so much joy into our homes.
Maine Coon Gets ‘First Taste’ of Orange Kitten and He Has Some Thoughts
Kittens take a pretty big toll on any family they join. Even if you're prepared and doing everything right, there are going to be moments that have you positively exhausted. Puppies are exactly the same way.
One Maine Coon's world has recently changed forever: his mom brought in an orange kitten. He's really going through it, and his face seems to say it all:
@maincoonkitten11poor nine. #mainecoon #mainecoonkitten #mainecoonsoftiktok #zodiacacademy #BookTok
♬ original sound - maincoonkitten11Nine the Maine Coon tried his best to be a good sport, and you can very clearly see that. Their mom is playing with a few of the kittens, and he's just sitting there... Until one of them does a little in-air spin.
Once the orange kitten lands on his face, he admittedly gets angry. His face pulls that signature grumpy face, and the fact that he has very chiseled cheekbones certainly doesn't help.

Nine is one of several cats who live in this house; some of them are even rescues. Despite his grumpy looks, he's generally a pretty good big brother, always willing to take one for the team.
In his defense, orange cats are a lot, and orange kittens are even worse. They're awesome, but they never stop moving:

♬ Thawing Blossoms - glowyLook at those two sweeties. I would take both of them in if I could!
Maine Coon Kittens Are Especially CrazyIf you're looking for a kitten who will have you asking why you would ever decide to get a kitten at least once, a Maine Coon kitten is exactly right for you. They're cuddly and affectionate, but they're also little menaces.
Maine Coon kittens are more likely to be crazy because they're so energetic. Maine Coons never really grow out of that, though it does tone down slightly with age. Their temperament can be tough on other cats, unfortunately, and you need to:
- Make sure they get plenty of alone time with you.
- Have their own space in a kitten-free area.
- Give them their meals in a dedicated space to avoid resource guarding.
Training is also a key part of having a Maine Coon kitten. Luckily, they're highly receptive to training and always willing to try something new. As long as you're consistent and stick to positive reinforcement, they'll be well-trained and maybe a tad less crazy in no time!

6 Top Vet-Recommended Dog Breeds to Own (Expert Picks)
Deciding you’re ready to welcome a dog into your life is one thing, but narrowing the field to a particular breed is a whole different factor as there are so many adorable dogs to choose from. In fact, seeing how the American Kennel Club recognizes 205 distinct dog breeds, picking which one is perfect for you can be tricky. To help you out, we rounded up the 6 top vet-recommended dog breeds to own in 2026.
So, what's one of the main things pet parents need to consider when getting a pup? “It’s important to choose a breed that works well with your lifestyle,” says Aimee Warner, DVM, resident veterinarian at Waggel. “Are you often out of the house? Can you make time for activities with your dog? The best breed for you is not the prettiest nor the most popular, but the one that can support your lifestyle.” Warner stresses that each breed has its own special qualities. “There are certain breeds I recommend for families and owners, not because they are better or the best, but only because they can adapt well to family life or modern homes,” she says. Liza Cahn, DVM, a veterinarian at Embrace Pet Insurance, agrees. “There is no one ‘perfect’ dog breed, nor does choosing a certain breed guarantee a specific temperament or health outcome,” she says.
If you're curious what the best dog breeds recommended by veterinarians are, keep reading. From vet-approved family dogs that are great around kids, to the easiest dog breeds to train, to apartment-friendly dog, the best dogs for first-time owners and calm dog breeds for seniors, these are their top picks for dog breeds that suit a range of households.

What's one vet-recommended dog breed to consider if you're thinking of adding a pet to your family? The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel was recommended by both Warner and Cahn. “For pet owners looking for a smaller companion size, these lap dogs are often a great temperament fit,” Warner says. “They are friendly, flexible and usually very people-centric without being overly demanding.”
This vet-approved family dog is known for being a gentle and affectionate pet. “Cavies have the sweetest disposition and can’t help but make you smile,” Cahn says. “These sweethearts can thrive in just about any environment as long as they receive plenty of love and attention.” Plus, our experts say this adaptable dog breed also has lower exercise needs, an eagerness to please and a calm nature, which makes them ideal pets for apartments or smaller homes.

What's another family dog vets suggest? Warner is also a fan of Labs, calling them one of the most versatile and well-adjusted breeds. "These big dogs, which are consistently ranked one of the most popular dog breeds in America, are known for their social nature and friendliness, making them easy to train for new pet owners," Warner says.
She adds that they are one of the best dog breeds to own for several reasons. “They are energetic, but not usually reactive and tend to fit in well with family dynamics,” Warner explains. What's not to love?
Breed Stats- Personality: Active, friendly, outgoing

When it comes to tinier dog breeds, Whippets are great small dog breeds for homes and apartments. “They are gentle, quiet and remarkably easy-going in terms of domestic behavior,” Warner says. Though, since Whippets were originally bred for speed and racing, making exercise s a must for this athletic dog breed. That's why vets suggests these pups for active owners.
Warner also points out that Whippets are social and friendly, making them a great fit for families, households with frequent guests and apartment owners. Their adaptable temperament and low-maintenance grooming needs add to their appeal as a small, loving companion dog.
Breed Stats- Personality: Playful, affectionate, calm

Cahn lists this friendly dog breed as one of the best dog breeds to own. “Golden Retrievers are known for being gentle, playful, loyal and affectionate,” she says. “Their natural sweetness and outgoing personalities make them excellent family pets.”
Overall, Golden Retrievers are beloved for their fun-loving attitude, amazing temperament, and love of people, making them a great fit for people with kids, first-time dog owners and active households. So, it's no surprise Goldens are suggested by vets for those looking to add a pet to their household.
Breed Stats- Personality: Intelligent, friendly, devoted
- Height: 21.5-24 inches

- Lifespan: 10–12 years

Did you know Poodles are a low-maintenance dog breed recommended by vets? It's true! Poodles have a pop culture reputation for being aloof, but that’s just not the case in real life. “Poodles, ranging from toy to standard, are known for being smart and friendly,” Cahn notes. She also points out their low-shedding coats, which make them a good pet for people with mild allergies. However, Cahn just stresses that no dog breed is 100% hypoallergenic.
“While they do require daily exercise and mental stimulation, especially the standard Poodle, their intelligence, gentle personality, and playful nature make them a highly adaptable dog breed and a great fit for families, first-time dog owners, and apartment dwellers,” Cahn says. Because of this, they are are one of the top vet-recommended dogs to get in 2026.
Breed Stats- Personality: Active, proud, smart
- Height: Over 15 inches
- Weight: 40-70 pounds
- Lifespan: 10–18 years

Like Whippets, Greyhounds were originally bred to be racers. But don’t confuse that with being a high-energy breed. “Despite their reputation for speed, Greyhounds are actually one of the best dog breeds for homebodies, and many retired racing Greyhounds transition beautifully into calm household companions,” Cahn says. "They’re also great for apartment dwellers and first-time dog owners."
These vet-recommended dogs still require daily exercise and mental stimulation, though. “However, after these needs are met, they typically enjoy lounging on the couch and are generally considered laid-back and low-maintenance dogs with a sweet and gentle personality,” Cahn says.
Another bonus? Their short, smooth coat makes them a low-shedding dog with minimal grooming needs, ideal for owners looking for easy-care dog breeds. It's no shock that Greyhounds are praised for their adaptability as calm indoor pets and loving companions.
Breed Stats- Personality: Independent, gentle, noble
- Weight: 60-70 pounds
- Height: 27-30 inches
- Lifespan: 10-13 years

Lego Creator 3-in-1 White Rabbit Set, $20.75 at Dollar GeneralDollar General
While the set's main attraction is the white rabbit, it's actually designed to be three different builds in one. Using the same collection of pieces, builders can create a bunny, a cockatoo parrot or a seal. Only one animal can be built at a time, but the set is meant to be taken apart and rebuilt whenever you're ready for something new.
Each animal also comes with a few playful details. The bunny can move its head, legs, ears and mouth, and comes with a yellow flower and a carrot for snacking. The cockatoo can move its wings, neck and tail, and rotate its head 360 degrees. The seal has movable flippers and a mouth that can hold a tiny fish.

Fun for Children and AdultsThe set is recommended for builders ages 8 and up, but plenty of adults enjoy these smaller Lego Creator builds too.
With 258 pieces, it's big enough to feel satisfying without turning into an all-day project. That makes it a nice option for a relaxed weekend build or a rainy afternoon activity.
Several reviewers commented on how incredibly adorable the set is.
"I started with the seal, omg too cute, then built the bird, omg too cute, and then built the bunny — OMG! TOO CUTE!" one reviewer wrote on the Dollar General product page. This reviewer loved it so much that she gifted the set to her work friend, who fosters bunnies.
Others mentioned that the set strikes a nice balance between relaxed fun and challenge, especially for little ones. One parent shared that their daughter spread the build out over two days and "thoroughly enjoyed building her favorite animal, the rabbit."
The Perfect Easter AccessoryWith its cutesy bunny design and springtime feel, this set would make a fun addition to an Easter basket. This kit offers a creative activity kids can enjoy long after the holiday is over.
It could also work nicely as a prize for an Easter egg hunt, giving one lucky kid a buildable bunny (and two other animals) to take home.
And once the building is done, the finished rabbit makes a charming Easter decoration for a desk or shelf.
For animal lovers, Lego collectors or anyone looking for an Easter-season activity, this playful set might be worth hopping over to Dollar General to grab.
