Petco Just Announced Rare Chance for Free Puppy Playtime and a Sweet Surprise
If you’ve ever watched a group of puppies meet each other for the first time, you know the energy is impossible to resist.
Imagine a whole store dedicated to that kind of joyful chaos. Well, that is the idea Petco is trying to bring with its free events lineup in March. Early socialization for puppies is important, and Petco is helping dogs and their pet parents do just that in a controlled setting, without paying hundreds of dollars for puppy classes.
The lineup of free events in March includes puppy playtime sessions every Saturday, a collar and leash trade-in event with major discounts on March 14, a photo session with the Easter Bunny on March 28 and 29, and an Easter egg hunt on April 4, according to @thefreebieguy on Instagram.
View this post on Instagram What Are Fans Saying About It?Fans are loving the idea that Petco offers some free events. It shows that the company cares for its customers and wants to give something back.
Some of the fans didn’t know about the events. Spreading the word will help more pet parents learn and visit these free events. Some fans said, “How fun. Great events to take the furry friends too!” and “I had no idea about puppy play time!!! My daughter will love that.”
Why Puppy Playtime MattersEarly socialization is one of the most important aspects of raising a well-behaved and confident dog. According to the American Kennel Club, the first three months of puppyhood are the most important for socialization. During this period, puppies should be exposed to different sounds, sights, people and animals.
Pet events like the ones Petco is organizing allow owners to bring their puppies to a controlled environment to learn these important skills. Safe play sessions with other puppies allow your dog to learn critical social skills like reading body language, understanding play signals and building confidence around other animals.

Does Every Petco Hosts the Puppy Playtime Events? As one of the commenters on the Instagram post said, it is best that you check with your local store first because not all stores do all of the free events.
To be sure your local Petco store offers these events, visit the Petco website, and then click on Find a Store. For the free puppy playtime sessions, you also have to book it in advance and bring proof of vaccination. The puppy playtime events are for puppies aged eight weeks to six months.
Pet events like these also give owners something valuable: connection. You might arrive simply hoping to tire out your high-energy puppy, but you may end up chatting with other pet parents, comparing training stories and sharing laughs about the chaos of raising a young dog. By the time you are ready to leave, puppies are happily exhausted, and you may have made a few new friends in the process.

Shelter Cat Finds Love After Being Returned and It’s Pure Goodness
Shelter life isn't easy. Shelter employees are basically angels, but even the kindest shelter employee in the world can't change that fact: shelter life, for most animals, is hard. In some cases, it's even traumatic.
For one black cat, shelter life proved to be nothing short of awful. That's why he was so excited to go off to his forever home... And when they returned him, he was crushed. He's only just starting to get his sparkle back:
@fuzzyferalfriendsthis is my cat cedar. I have had him for a few years and I can only pet him when i’m lucky. His previous owners returned him to the shelter because they were moving and he has been terrified of people since. I would love any tips from someone who has got their feral cat to cuddle with them! he has the biggest heart
♬ snowfall - Øneheart & reidenshiThe Fuzzy Feral Friends house has turned out to be exactly the kind of place Cedar the cat needs to be in. His mom has had him for years at this point, but he's still not all the way healed. He's:
- Apprehensive about being pet.
- Independent.
- Terrified of people.
According to Cedar's mom, his previous family wasn't unkind to him; they returned him to the shelter because they had to move. They couldn't bring him, and it absolutely crushed him.

More About Cedar the CatCedar has been in his forever home (for real this time) for a few years now, and he's definitely been having his issues, but he's also making a ton of progress. He lives inside full-time, though he does get to have some outside time. He has 6 other cat siblings.
Cedar likes to be comfy: he makes himself at home in mom's bed, on some blankets he finds on the ground, wherever he can. He's not aggressive, but he is a little skittish. When he's lounging, though, he looks like a true king:
@fuzzyferalfriendsToday I was able to get in bed next to cedar (even if i am on the edge) This is one of many suggestions I got on my previous video! i’m going to attempt all the suggestions I got and update you guys on his progress. Cedar is sleeping in a little ball next to me as i post this! I did also eat my breakfast with him and let him sniff it today
♬ cardigan - Taylor SwiftIt took Cedar years to be comfortable co-existing in the same space as his mom, whom he sees every day. This just goes to show that good things are worth the wait!
Shelter Cats Need TimeCedar is just one example of what happens to thousands of shelter cats. Unfortunately, Cedar got very lucky: many cats who end up in his position wait months, or sometimes longer, to be adopted. Feral cats or skittish cats in general are not "desirable."

If you're adopting a feral cat, or you're adopting a cat who's been at the shelter for a while, you really need to manage your expectations. They may fold into your home immediately, but odds are, that simply won't be the case.
Some cats never fully warm up to people, and that's something you have to be okay with when you're adopting them. There are some ways to gain their trust, though, even if it looks a little different:
- Never push them to be closer than they're ready for.
- Stay consistent with feedings and routine.
- Continue to offer them chances to interact with you.
Scared, formerly feral cats are some of the best cats ever. They're just not traditional!

Sweet Cat’s Heartwarming Reaction to Mom’s Piano Playing Is Pure Joy
If you play an instrument, have you ever asked yourself if your pet is your biggest fan? Just imagine, as the first few piano notes fill the room, your pet sitting calmly next to you, listening and enjoying your music. Your music is the most calming sound for your pet, and the time spent together strengthens your bond.
And instead of cheering crowds and a round of applause, you have one lucky cat giving you a deep, resonant purr. Well, there is no need to imagine it: one lucky cat owner experienced this exact thing firsthand.
In a video shared on Reddit, we see a cat mom playing the piano while her relaxed feline lies beside her, completely unbothered by the music. If anything, it looks like the cat is savoring every note. With her eyes half-closed, the cat appears to be having the best nap of his life.
That is the kind of moment that pet parents love and recognize: when your beloved friend chooses to simply exist next to you and watch you do something you love. That's a special kind of companionship, wouldn’t you say?
People Are Loving the VideoOne commenter instantly noticed a thoughtful gesture by the cat’s mom. He said, “So thoughtful that she provided a pillow so he could truly relax and enjoy the experience. The cat in the window also seems to appreciate the music.”
Most of the comments mention that the cat is having the time of his life, saying, “What a pleasure!!! I wish I could relax like that kitten and enjoy a moment of peace” and “You’re only getting crickets from this audience!!! How cute thou!ask him what his favorite tune was.”

Do Cats Actually Like Music? You might be asking the same question if you like to play music for your cat, be it from your favorite instrument or from YouTube videos. It turns out that cats are sensitive to sound, and far more so than humans.
While cats are not listening to classical music the same way we do, they respond positively to it. Classical music often uses the same tempo as a purr, which mimics the pitch range of feline vocalizations. That might be the reason why this cat enjoys the piano so much.
A Front-Row Seat to a Personal ConcertWhat makes this simple scene so charming is the quiet magic of sharing space. The owner sits at the piano with her fingers moving across the keys, while her cat lounges comfortably on a nearby pillow.
This cat has the time of his life because he knows he is entirely safe. When a cat sits close like this to his human, it is a sign of unwavering trust.
So, the next time your cat chooses to nap on your lap while you are working, don’t move. Consider it the highest compliment you can receive from your feline friend.

PetSmart’s $3 Storage Pouch Keeps Treats Close While on the Move
Parade Pets aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.
Of all the words that my Jack Russell, Winnie, knows by now, I think “treat” and “toy” are her favorites. You’d have to ask her which one ranks No. 1, but all I know is that I love the big grin she gets when she realizes it’s time for a reward.
Typically, Winnie gets her treat after we’re done walking, partly because I’ve never managed to find the right setup to keep them with me while we’re outside. Maybe it’s me, but keeping the treats in my hoodie or pants pocket just feels uncomfortable.
If you’re like me and considering switching up the routine, PetSmart has the Top Paw puppy treat pouch on sale right now for under $3. What a deal.
The Top Paw Puppy Treat Pouch Is a Dog’s DreamWinnie and I go walking enough that if I’m adding something new, I need to feel confident about making a change. That’s why we’ve had the same walking path for at least a year now. We know the ins and the outs, and it meets our needs, especially because Winnie likes having everything in her line of sight.
That’s why I’m so intrigued by the Top Paw puppy treat pouch. The pouch is designed for quick access and convenience — a major plus for our 20-minute morning loops. I also like the overall simple look. As fun as it can be to have something fancy or overly colorful and creative, there’s no shame in simplicity.
3 Quick Things to Know- It has a clip-on feature and a zipper to keep the treats from falling out.
- You can get your pouch in two colors: blue or pink.
- PetSmart offers same-day delivery on many orders, and you can currently snag this pouch for its lowest price yet by applying the promo code SAVE20 at checkout.

The Bottom Line: If a time comes where this version of the Top Paw puppy treat pouch becomes immensely popular, we can say that we knew about it at the very start.
Have you ever had that experience with a musician, where you found them early before they became superstars? That was me with Wiz Khalifa, and hopefully, it’ll be me with Leah Kate. We shouldn’t be surprised if we’re having a similar conversation regarding this treat pouch down the road.
Yellow Labrador Loses His Mind When Noah Kahan’s 'Stick Season' Starts Playing
Every dog has that one thing that sends them into full-body joy mode. Sometimes it’s the word “walk.” Sometimes it’s the sound of the treat bag opening. For our pup, it's the phrase B-Y-E B-Y-E, which we have to spell, or he thinks it's time for, you know, bye-bye. And sometimes, apparently, it’s Noah Kahan.
A Yellow Labrador named Noodle has the most enthusiastic reaction imaginable when the opening of the song “Stick Season” starts playing in the car.
@nicoleandnoodlenoodle approved @Noah Kahan #fyp #foryou #dogsoftiktok #noahkahan
♬ original sound - Carpaw KaraokeTikTok user @nicoleandnoodle shared the hilarious clip showing Noodle sitting in the back seat as the song begins. The second the music kicks in, the dog completely lights up.
The Labrador starts hopping around, tail going full helicopter mode, while his entire body wiggles with excitement. It’s the kind of reaction that suggests this dog has been waiting all day to hear this exact song.
Honestly, the vibe is extremely relatable.

If you have ever met a Noah Kahan superfan, you already know the energy. My daughter loves him, and this is basically how she reacts, too, when one of his songs comes on.
People watching the video in the comments clearly understood the assignment.
“My guy heard the word stick and couldn’t contain himself,” one person joked.
Another viewer admitted, “This is how I listen to Noah Kahan.”
"Of course he loves 'Stick Season!!!'" someone else added.
One comment pointed out a detail that makes the moment even funnier.
“He’s like, ‘I approve. At least three songs on the album mention dogs.’”
And another person summed up Noodle’s joy perfectly: “That is the happiest good boy I ever did see. I hope you find the most perfect stick every day, Noodle.”
At this point, it’s safe to say Noodle has excellent taste in music.
Noah Kahan Has His Own Fan of Sticks Named Penny View this post on InstagramIf Noodle loves the idea of sticks this much, he would probably get along great with Noah Kahan’s own dog.
The singer has a German Shepherd named Penny, who shows up frequently in his social media posts. Penny has basically become a minor celebrity among fans because she’s often seen tagging along with Kahan on hikes, outdoor adventures, and cozy moments at home.
Considering how often Kahan references nature, small towns, and wandering through the woods in his music, it makes sense that a dog would fit right into that world.
And if Noodle’s reaction to “Stick Season” is any indication, he might just be the newest member of Noah Kahan’s very enthusiastic canine fan club.

Shelter Cat Labeled As 'Too Mean' Turns Into a Cuddle Bug the First Day After Adoption
Many dogs and cats experience stress and anxiety in a shelter environment. The trauma of abandonment, as well as the uncertainty of their future, causes fear in these fur babies. Add the chaotic and noisy surroundings, and these stray animals often shut down or lash out under the pressure.
Jax is a black-and-white cat who appeared to have anger issues when he was placed in a shelter. The frightened feline let his real personality show once someone gave him the love he needed.
@jaxwithatwistHis first full day home from the shelter with us he didn’t want to leave my side. At first I was like awww so cute but then my heart started to break seeing the exhaustion in his eyes and the sadness. He was labeled “feral” and “too mean,” but all he really wanted was warmth, safety, and love. It’s hard to believe the shelter was planning to release him back to the streets that very week. Im so glad we found him and in time. Here’s to a lifetime of love, safety, and endless cuddles with our sweet Jax. 🤍🐾
♬ Turning Page | Piano Cover - James WongThe TikTok from @jaxwithatwist told the pretty kitty's story, where he was misunderstood at the shelter.
"No one wanted this cat," the onscreen text explained. "The shelter said he was 'too mean' and planned to release him back to the streets."
The next clip showed Jax nestled into his new mom's shoulder, where he camped out for the entire day right after she adopted him.
"His first full day home from the shelter with us, he didn’t want to leave my side," the caption shared. "At first, I was like, aww, so cute, but then my heart started to break seeing the exhaustion in his eyes and the sadness."
Jax's mom realized the troubled cat was traumatized and worn out. She snuggled with him all day while letting him know he was home for good.
"As the day went on, I could see him slowly relax, although still unsure," the story continued. "I kept reassuring him he was home now and safe forever."
Jax Now Gets 'Endless Cuddles'The former shelter cat must have immediately sensed he was safe, thanks to his mom's comfort and compassion. Jax transformed into a total love bug now that he had his forever family.

Rare Corgi-Malamute Mix’s Fluffy Cheek Is What Dreams Are Made Of
I don't have fluffy dogs: I have three Boston Terriers, and while they're all beautiful and perfect, they're short-haired. I wouldn't trade them for the world, but whenever I see a fluffy dog, you better believe I'm asking if I can pet them!
Though I don't live anywhere near this ultra-fluffy, rare Corgi-Malamute mix, I so wish I did. When his dad started running his hands through his cheek fluff, I have to admit that I was experiencing a lot of jealousy:
@apollothecorgimuteHe loves his pets #dog #corgi #malamute
♬ original sound - apollothecorgimuteApollo the Corgi-Mute is the talk of his town. He's a very social dog, and he loves walking around. Wherever dogs are allowed, Apollo likes to go, and he gets lots of pets. No one can resist him, and he can't resist showing off!
He's a California boy, too; he lives in LA. There are tons of places for him to visit and people for him to see there. His favorite activity, though, is lying around while other people appreciate him for his looks.

Apollo Does TricksBeyond being one of the most handsome dogs ever, Apollo the Corgi-Mute is a master of tricks. He knows all the basics like sit, stay, and lie down. Being that he's half Corgi, half Malamute, this is a very smart boy who trained well!
Perhaps the most special of all of his tricks is his wave. He stands on his hind legs and waves to all of his adoring fans, and we eat it up every single time:
@apollothecorgimuteJust a happy boi #dog #puppy #corgi #malamute

Corgi-Malamutes Are High-EnergyApollo loves to chill out sometimes, but as you can tell, he also loves to get up and play. All Corgi-Mutes feel exactly the same way; these dogs are bred from two intelligent, highly energetic breeds.

There are plenty of ways to make sure a playful Corgi-Mute gets exactly what they need to stay happy and healthy. Every day, they'll need:
- Walks around the neighborhood.
- A chance to run and play, either in their own yard or at the dog park.
- Plenty of human interaction indoors, like with small games of fetch.
- Mental enrichment, like puzzle toys, lick mats, or foraging games.
Training is key with a breed like this; otherwise, they could get out of control quickly. Luckily, Apollo is a good boy, and he'd never dare!

New Study Finds Dogs Like to Help Their Humans—Cats, Not So Much
If you’ve ever misplaced something around the house, you may have noticed your dog suddenly taking a keen interest in the search. Your cat, on the other hand, might simply watch from the couch (or settle in for a nap).
According to a new study published in the journal Animal Behaviour, that difference may not be your imagination. Researchers found that dogs often attempt to help their humans when they appear to be searching for something, while cats are far less likely to lend a helping paw.

The research team from Eötvös Loránd University and the HUN‑REN–ELTE Comparative Ethology Research Group in Hungary studied how companion dogs, companion cats and even toddlers respond when a caregiver appears to be looking for a lost object.
Putting Them to the TestTo test this, researchers visited participants’ homes to create a familiar environment and reduce stress for both pets and children. The study included 40 dogs, 27 cats and 20 toddlers between 16 and 24 months old.
During the experiment, each participant watched as a researcher hid a dishwashing sponge. The caregiver then searched for the object and acted confused or frustrated, but never directly asked for help.
Researchers observed whether the dog, cat or child would spontaneously try to guide the adult to the object by looking back and forth between it and the caregiver, approaching it, or even retrieving it. The results revealed a distinct pattern.
“Interestingly, the majority of dogs and children showed similar behavior patterns,” said study co-author Melitta Csepregi in a press release. “They readily engaged with the situation, and more than 75% of them either indicated or retrieved the object, suggesting strong motivation to help, despite being untrained, receiving no reward and the hidden object, a dishwashing sponge, being irrelevant to them.”
Cats behaved differently. While many appeared to notice what was happening, they rarely attempted to help their caregivers locate the object. However, things changed during control trials when the hidden object was something the cats actually wanted, such as a favorite toy or treat. In those cases, cats indicated the object’s location much more frequently.

Aussie Helps His Mom Find Her Keys @whiskeytollerI wasn’t sure if she’d be able to find them… but she’s surprised me in the past by finding things I’ve lost… so I figured might as well give it a try! I’m so lucky to have her 🥹 Last time I lost something on a hike, I spent 45 minutes looking and then almost gave up before asking her, and she found it in less than 2 min. This time I figured asking her first was my best bet at finding them! And I was right. She’s a superstar and I can’t believe she knows what I’m asking of her 🥲🙏 #toller #smartdog My dog found my lost keys.
♬ original sound - Whiskey, Amber & AnimalsA TikTok video posted by @whiskeytoller shows a dog's inclination to help in action. In the clip, a woman loses her car keys in a field and asks her Australian shepherd, Whiskey, to help her find them. The pup immediately springs into action, running around and sniffing through the grass until she eventually tracks down the missing keys.
The Bottom LineResearchers believe the difference between dogs and cats may be rooted in evolutionary history. Dogs evolved from highly social ancestors and have been shaped by thousands of years of close cooperation with humans. Cats, by contrast, descended from more solitary ancestors and historically relied less on human collaboration.
That doesn’t mean cats are unfriendly—it may simply reflect their independent nature.
So if your dog eagerly joins the search when you lose something around the house, science suggests they may genuinely be trying to lend a paw. Your cat, on the other hand, might just prefer to observe from a sunny spot nearby.

Tiny Chihuahua Unleashes Giant Wolf Howls Like He Runs the Wilderness
There are a lot of small dogs in the world, but not all small dogs give off the main-character energy that makes them feel almost larger than life. Chihuahuas are really good at pretending they're the biggest dog in the world, and in another life would have fit right in as the leader of a wolf pack.
This video captures a Chihuahua who very much has that energy, which comes in the form of an enormous howl that lets everyone know he runs the show. Take a look at this little guy!

He has no concept of how small he is compared to his mom or other dogs, and his confidence level proves it. The wilderness may disagree, but he does not.
Related: Long-Haired Chihuahua Squares up With a Tree and Loses His Mind
It doesn't matter if anyone tells him he's not a tough guy, because he believes he is, and he's been practicing his giant wolf howl as if he runs the whole wilderness. Franklin unleashes his massive wolf howl, making size irrelevant, and people in the comments are having a good giggle listening to him.
One person wrote, "Did he literally forget you were sitting next to him, or is he seriously crying for help? I'm confused"
Another shared, "The way he properly throws himself into it 😂 absolutely precious, but you are right, definitely a mini wolf!"
Someone else added, "Does he know you are actually behind him and not abducted by aliens?"
Other comments included, "You hurry up and give that boy whatever he wants," "Poor baby. I would have to hold him all day. Carry him in a papoose," "He’s calling to his ancestors," "He's singing the song of his people," "Your adorable dog is dramatic and doing too much... where can I get one?" and "A proud wolf."

Chihuahuas Are Very Chatty DogsFranklin is working hard to find his voice, and while he may be a tiny guy, he's not going to let people who hear his voice from a distance know that he's not very big. And that's how most Chihuahuas are, according to the experts.
Wag! explains that Chihuahuas are known to be very vocal dogs and howl and bark a lot—often because they're bored. The site explains that Chihuahuas are "high-energy" dogs, and if they don't have a way to release all that extra energy, they may let it out through "a high-pitched, monotone bark."
If it annoys you or you need to keep their noise levels down to a minimum because of your living situation, like if you're in an apartment, having activities and other ways for them to release their energy can help curb the noise they make. That means going for walks, playing together, having mental stimulation toys available, and other activities they love.
Franklin certainly has a bark that's bigger than his size would suggest.

With a fresh arrival of spring-themed mats hitting stores this week, it’s the perfect excuse to inject a little extra charm into your home. Measuring 18 by 30 inches and made with durable natural fibers that help kick dirt off your shoes before going indoors, this mat is a pro at trapping debris before it reaches your home. It also features a skid-resistant bottom to keep it in place no matter where you put it, and an elevated look complemented by an undeniably adorable graphic spelling out the word “Home” with a paw print replacing the letter "o."

The mat comes in one color: a natural light brown with a pair of black pinstripe outlines around the perimeter and black lettering. It stands out thanks to its cutesy welcome message, yet it also serves as a sleek, minimalist addition to your entryway—not so loud that it clashes with your existing decor, but just enough to make an inviting first impression.

Whether your furry friend is home or not, it serves as a reminder of the unconditional love pets bring while adding a functional touch to any entryway. Bright Yellow Parrot Who Looks Like a Banana Lives for Mom's Compliments
Our full house is a busy one, filled with my three children's laughter, three cats going at it during playtime, or my two dogs either screaming at me for another chew or barking with joy when they get amped up. I've never had a bird of any kind, but if I did, it'd be a chatty one to keep life fun.
Twinkie is one darling Parrot you won't soon forget. If there were an award given out for "The Most Distinguished Bird Gentleman in All the Land," he'd win year after year. Sorry to all the other Cockatoos, Macaws, and Parrots I laugh, cry, and obsess over, but there's a new boy in town (well, new to me) and he's ready to steal your heart!

Do Yellow Ringneck Parrots Make Good Pets? It's hard to miss the fact that Twinkie is bright yellow, and it's all thanks to his official title as a Yellow Ringneck Parrot. These are social, playful, intelligent, and adorable birds, beloved for their ability to mimic speech. They begin talking around 8 months to 1 year old, and they're capable of learning more than 200 words.
With a lifespan of 25 to 30 years, outgoing birds like Twinkie make for the best companions for pet parents who know all about caring for these funny birds and how much attention and mental stimulation they require to thrive.
Because of their general chattiness (they're anything but shy), these Parrots can be noisy, so a home where constant conversation is welcomed is ideal. That aside, look how cute they can be!

Golden Retriever's Polite Way of Asking Mom for a 'Pool Day' Is Downright Precious
Some of us are summer people! We live for sunshine and the possibility of going for a swim. It turns out it’s not only humans who look forward to taking a dip.
One Golden Retriever is trying to tell his family that it is definitely time to get back in the water.
Take a look at this hilarious clip from TikTok in which Vader, the Golden Retriever, is eagerly waiting for his family to fill the pool so he can live his best life.

He's too cute. This guy deserves a little fun in the sun, for sure!
Viewers can’t get enough of this darling dog and have interpreted his body language in the comments they left.
“Some water in here would be nice, Mom,” one person said.
"He said WATER ME PLEASE!" a commenter noted.
"Give the man a full pool!" another implored.

"BLESS HIS HEART AWEEEEE," a fan wrote.
It’s clear that Vader was born to be near water. Just look at how happy he is while strolling on the beach! So happy, in fact, he didn’t even notice his family was no longer close behind him as he sauntered along the shoreline! Take a look!
@vaderrthegoldenare you kidding me- why is he so cute 🥹

Are Golden Retrievers Natural Swimmers?Vader isn't alone in his love for swimming. Golden Retrievers are natural-born swimmers. Much like Labradors and Newfoundlands, these dogs have strong builds, powerful legs, and webbed feet (who knew?), which make them well-equipped for the water!
Other dogs, such as Pugs or Bulldogs, may not love the idea of a swim because of their shorter legs.
Vader certainly seems ready for the summer season! We bet that if he could pull over the garden hose and fill up that pool on his own, he would! And we don't blame him one bit. Taking a swim is great exercise and also a fun way to relax on a warm afternoon.
We hope someone fills that pool and makes Vader's swim dreams come true!
Rover Just Launched a New Service for the First Time in 7 Years—Here's What to Know
As a pet parent, it’s only natural to get secondhand embarrassment from your fur baby when they start acting out in public. Sure, they’re adorable little angels (most of the time), but every now and then that sweet little furball decides to terrorize passersby or get a little too excited and do something completely unhinged that you’re left having to apologize for until the end of time. Pets can be unpredictable, and although it might be easy for us as their caretakers to write off their behavior, others might not be so forgiving.
What’s it to us if Princess decides to eat tissue out of the trashcan or Spot nibbles on the couch? Once they activate those puppy dog eyes, we can’t even remember what they did wrong anyway. But if Toto decides to do doughnuts in the neighbor's yard, it’s kind of hard to dismiss it as just another one of their quirks. That’s where training comes in. Although it won’t stop your pet from being, well, a pet, investing in training can at least prepare your pup to go out into the world without you having to worry about their every move.

For the first time in seven years, Rover is adding a new service to its platform, allowing pet parents to book private training sessions with credentialed trainers right in the app. The exciting new feature was initially soft-launched in October 2024 as a beta test, and so far, the brand has added 1,600 credentialed trainers to its roster. More than 6,000 dog parents have booked a training session through the platform.

In a press release about the new launch, Scott Lowe, General Manager of Dog Training, said, “After a year of piloting the new service and building a network of qualified trainers, pet parents nationwide can now find the perfect trainer for their dog’s needs.”

Orange Cat's Dapper Bow Tie Makes Him Look Like 'Bill Nye the Science Guy'
I learned very early on that my cats were never going to be the kind of pets who would tolerate me dressing them up... not on Halloween or otherwise. It's kind of a bummer as their mom, but honestly, I get it — it can't be fun feeling restricted by clothing when you're used to living life freely!
That doesn't mean I can't deeply admire other people's cats who do allow their parents to add a little extra razzle dazzle to their already adorable appearance, including the orange cat in the video below who has the internet falling in love with him and his outfit.
@konakaikaleo ♬ cafe - Runa-Girl8215After seeing Kona's adorable yellow plaid bow tie in this video shared by @konakaikaleo on TikTok earlier this week, it's clear that he was made to be a dapper kind of guy, and of course, one of the commenters said he reminds them of Bill Nye the Science Guy.
If you went to school in the '90s and the early 2000s, that name is very familiar to you... and it's hard to deny the resemblance. He is wearing Bill's signature accessory, after all.
In case you need a little refresher about who Bill is, he's this guy — science obsessed and always wearing a bow tie, just like Kona.
View this post on InstagramSee? The comparisons totally check out.

While being compared to Bill Nye is obviously a huge compliment — particularly for millennials who grew up watching his videos in science class — it's hardly the only one this handsome boy received in the comments.
"Kona’s bow tie makes him look like he has good credit!" one commenter wrote, which is totally true; he looks like the kind of cat who loves to stay ahead of his finances.
Another viewer said it looked like he was all dressed up in his "Sunday best," which is also totally true.
If you're hoping your cat can look as dapper as Kona does, your best bet is to buy them a bow tie like the one he's wearing in the video — one that's attached to a collar, especially if they're used to wearing a regular collar most of the time.
Some cats are never going to be into dressing up a little (including both of mine), but that's okay. We love them for so many other reasons, too!

Senior Dog Adoption Event Showcases the Sweetest Faces You'll Ever See
I adopted my first senior dog fresh out of high school during my time working at our local animal shelter. Precious, the sweetest blind, partially deaf Pekingese I've ever had the pleasure of knowing, couldn't take the stress of the shelter environment, and I couldn't let her spend her last days like that. Taking her home was one of the best decisions I've ever made, and I miss her dearly.
In case you need a little convincing, Muttville, a senior dog rescue in San Francisco, has some of the most precious pups to ever grace this earth. And thankfully, we get an up-close and personal intro to a few of these cuties.
@allthefosterpupsIt’s a busy day at Muttville Senior Dog Rescue and the mutts are booked and busy. 🐾 Quick intros. Big personalities. So many adoptable senior legends in one loft. If you’ve been thinking about adopting… this is your sign.

I can still remember his epic "freedom zoomies" as he experienced a yard for the first time in his life, and it brings a tear to my eye. I'd adopt every older dog if they could feel that level of happiness.
If you're still on the fence about adopting, The Animal Foundation lists a few good reasons to adopt an older dog, though I think there's no limit to all the ways they make life better. Some highlights include:
- They're usually housebroken, crate-trained, and they know command basics.
- Seniors are calmer, lower-energy dogs who are more laid-back and love relaxing and cuddling.
- They tend to adapt faster to new environments and routines.
- Dogs aged 7 years and older have almost always gotten past their destructive stage.
- They're beyond grateful for their second chance, loyal, and will show you their love every day.
- You're saving the life of a pup who deserves a home to live out the rest of their time.

Clingy Bulldog Stands on Dad's Shoulders Like a Goat-Has Opinions
Dogs do all sorts of things when they want attention; they'll sit by your feet, lick you or maybe even nudge your hand. You know, normal dog stuff.
Kilo the English Bulldog? He's got an entirely unique approach. He climbs you like you’re a piece of furniture. And then, he just...stays up there. Desperate measures, for desperate times.
There's this TikTok where Kilo's dad is standing in the kitchen scrolling through his phone, totally normal, and Kilo has apparently decided that dad's shoulders are the best seat in the house. Kilo’s just perched up there watching the world like he's a parrot. Except for one minor detail, he’s not a bird at all. He's a bulldog; a sweet, solid, chunky bully who absolutely weighs more than any bird ever should.
The caption goes "If Kilo could talk, this is 110% the stuff he would say 🐶" and then his human translates what's going through Kilo's head while he's posted up there.
@sammiteeoohIf Kilo could talk this is 110% the stuff he would say 🐶 #englishbulldog #englishbulldogpuppy #puppy #funnypets #englishbulldogsoftiktok
♬ Idyllic jazz bossa nova with piano and guitar(1298871) - TAKANORI ONDAFirst thing Kilo's thinking: "Whatcha doin?" Because obviously Dad's phone is way more interesting than paying attention to the dog currently using him as a climbing structure.
Kilo’s next observation: "Hmmm, things look different from up here." Kilo just discovered what elevation does. It’s a whole new world when you're looking down at life instead of staring up at everything.
Then, he spots a hanging light fixture: "Oh, bright and shiny." New stuff to look at from this angle, apparently.
Related: Vocal French Bulldog 'Telling on Dad' for Taking Him to Vet Is Pure Internet Gold
Kilo’s final thought: "Please give me attention!" Which was the entire point of this shoulder-climbing adventure anyway. Poor Kilo just wants to be seen.
The fact that Kilo climbed up there, got himself situated, and is now just chillin' while checking out his surroundings and silently demanding to be noticed? That's spot on, bulldog energy right there.
Dad's just standing there letting it all take place. I mean, what are you supposed to do when your dog decides your shoulders are his new observation deck?
English Bulldogs Are Velcro Dogs Known for Clingy, Attention-Seeking BehaviorSo, why is Kilo doing this in the first place? English Bulldogs are what people lovingly refer to as "velcro dogs." They attach themselves to you and don't let go.
Dogs are pack animals. That's just who they are. Even though they don’t have to hunt to survive anymore, that whole "stay close to your pack" instinct? It’s still there. Still controlling everything they do. And you, lucky human, are part of their pack now.
Some dogs take this way more seriously than others do. Bulldogs take it literally.
Velcro dogs are everywhere you are. Going to the bathroom? They're coming too. Cooking in the kitchen? They will absolutely be directly under your feet. They love you so much that they will become a fall hazard. Standing at the counter on your phone? Apparently, that means it's time to scale you like a tree and supervise from up top.
I’ve had the pleasure of being mom to two French and one Victorian bulldog, and auntie to several English and American bulldogs. This is why I can tell you with 100% honesty that this ‘velcro’ behavior is fueled by pure, unconditional love, and, in my opinion, it’s one of the best parts about being a bulldog parent.
The clingy thing can come from the breed itself, or it can be learned. If you're constantly bringing your dog everywhere you go and rewarding them every time they're near you, they're obviously going to keep doing it. They’re smart. They figure out really quickly what works for them, and that’s what they do. Keep in mind also that they are very headstrong, and once they learn a behavior that works, it’s hard to let that go.

Many people love having a Velcro dog. I know I do. What’s not to love? Built-in companion, always down for attention and someone to ramble at who won't interrupt you. Other people find it exhausting.
Kilo climbing onto his dad's shoulders isn't him being bad or aggressive. He just wants attention, and he's getting creative about it. Wants to be close, wants to see what dad's looking at, wants dad to acknowledge that he exists and matters.
His internal monologue? It’s probably pretty spot on. "Things look different from up here," combined with "please give me attention," is basically the whole vibe.Kilo found his perfect spot. Dad's shoulders are that spot. New view unlocked. Absolutely no chance of being ignored. Job well done.
Shy Dachshund Is an ‘Angel’ Jumping in Mom’s Purse Hoping To Join Her at Work
If you’ve ever hoped your workplace would announce bring your dog to work day, you’re not alone. Many humans find it hard to spend a day at the office knowing their furry friend is home alone. Sometimes our pups, especially dogs prone to separation anxiety, would also love nothing more than joining mom or dad at work. Some dogs will do just about anything to keep their humans close, even trying to stealthily join mom and dad at the office.
In a social media video that crossed our TikTok feed, a sweet, shy Dachshundcan be seen seeking refuge from the impending heartache of her human leaving for work by sequestering herself in mom’s work bag. Hoping to join mom at her workplace, the Dachshund has a regular routine of hopping into mom’s tote in hopes of becoming mom’s canine assistant.

♬ original sound - solshinnne“Of course she can go,” commented one viewer. Another added, “So hard to leave them.”
“Same with mine 😂 She would automatically jump in any bag or in her carrier whenever she sees me preparing my stuff,” commented one more.
Another commenter wrote, “You know you need to take her everywhere now, right? No other option here.”
If you’re watching the video and nodding your head while thinking “I feel seen,” you are likely the human to a Dachshund. To know a Dachshund is to know this breed is prone to separation anxiety, earning them the nickname “velcro dog.”
Dachshunds are extremely connected to their humans and would prefer to be in the same room as their favorite people at any given time. That means this breed would love nothing more than to spend the day at work with mom or dad. Better yet, Dachshunds would love nothing more than if mom or dad didn’t leave the house for work at all. To say you’ll never be lonely with a Dachshund in the house is an understatement. The only thing you won’t get with a Dachshund in the house is time alone. But with a face this cute, why would you want to be alone anyway?
145-Pound Cane Corso Gently Getting in Bed to Snuggle His Humans Is Everything
Both of my dogs sleep with us every night. While they're small — a Dachshund and a Pug mix — they manage to take up a lot of space. I must confess, I put their comfort before my own and often end up with barely any blankets or hanging off the side of the bed. Still, they're totally worth it.
Jax the Cane Corso is a bit larger than my pups and has the same preference of sleeping with his parents despite his enormous size.

♬ The Stable Song - Gregory Alan IsakovIn the TikTok from @brittanyandjax, the gentle giant stared at his parents sleeping in bed and felt something missing... himself, right next to them.
Trying his best not to wake his mom and dad, Jax ever-so-quietly walked alongside the bed to figure out his best onboarding strategy. He carefully climbed up and located his target sleep spot. It took some maneuvering, but the colossal canine was able to get comfortably situated.
Jax tried to give his parents as much room as possible by curling up on the comforter rather than stretching out. He even considerately moved to the edge of the bed at one point, trying his best to share the space.
Time for a King-Size Bed?His parents quickly realized they had a visitor and adjusted themselves to accommodate Jax. They didn't appear to have the best sleeping positions, but they made it work.
"Our Cane Corso decided he wanted to sleep with us, so we all slept diagonally to make him comfortable," the onscreen text explained, with the caption adding, "Another comfy cozy night with our 145-lb Cane Corso."
Followers fell in love with Jax's adorable need to cuddle and suggested a bigger bed may be in their future.

"I love how gentle he was. Like you weren't going to notice an extra 145 lbs in bed with you," one pointed out.
'He tried to curl up so small," another remarked.
"Time for a bed upgrade, look into the Alaskan king-size bed," a follower recommended.
"Put him in the middle of you both and hug him, please please," someone pleaded.
I think most parents are willing to sacrifice some comfort to make room for their fur babies. The love and snuggles they give in return are priceless.
