Buying Your Dog Real Diamonds Is Now a Trend: Here's What You Need To Know

Sun, 03/08/2026 - 7:55am

The dogs have won.

Watch any movie from the 1960s and prior, and dogs were often meant to fend for themselves most of the time (Old Yeller had to walk, Beverly Hills Chihuahua could not run but be carried around in a Birkin).

Even though these pups were loved by their families, when they went away on a trip, the dog was often on their own for a few days (or put to work as a live-in indentured servant, like Nanna in Peter Pan).

This is a starkly different picture from today, in which we see dogs not only wearing designer clothes and leashes, but also being toted around in $4,000 Gucci carriers.

The global luxury pet accessories market was valued at $4 billion in 2023 and is projected to reach $6.7 billion by 2033, according to data from Market.us.

Americans were projected to spend a total of $157 billion on their pets in 2025, and according to projections, U.S. pet spending will total almost $200 billion in 2030.

View this post on Instagram

In 2024 alone, Americans spent roughly $152  billion on pet-related items and services, and this figure includes “new essentials,” such as dog clothing and accessories.

And this isn’t just spending on food, supplies, and toys. Dogs are living the life.

Our canine companions now have their own airlines like BARKAir, which also has a dog travel concierge service, pet protection systems, and state-of-the-art carry-on pet car seats like this one from Tavo Pets (the brand behind Nuna, which makes the super-popular stroller and other chic baby gear). Pet pampering packages at elite hotels include properties like the Conrad New York Downtown, which includes amenities like mats, doggie beds, and local grooming and spa recommendations.

There has been a cultural shift when it comes to our pets. They are now beloved members of our family, and we are devoted to them. What better way to recognize that than with fine jewelry?

This is why we are starting to see the trend of dog fine jewelry brands, and D Diamond New York, the first American fine jewelry house dedicated exclusively to dogs, is at the forefront.

Founded in New York City by Racheli Waters Shamir, this category-defining brand is ushering in a new form of luxury for dogs in the form of natural diamonds (prices can range from $1,435 to high-commission creations that can reach $150,000 and even exceed $1 million).

Shamir told Parade Pets, "Luxury for canine companions is not a trend. It is a cultural shift. Dogs are no longer pets; they are family. As people invest in heirloom-quality pieces for themselves, they naturally want the same level of craftsmanship, integrity, and meaning for their dogs."

She noted that at D Diamond New York, they create solid 18K gold jewelry with D color VVS diamonds because love deserves permanence. "This is about legacy, intention, and honoring the bond between humans and their dogs."

View this post on Instagram The Origins of a New Kind of Luxury for Dogs

The idea was born from a quiet realization inspired by Shamir’s two rescues, Fancy and Luli.

Like most dog parents, Shamir learned a lot from her pups.

“They show me every day how much love, loyalty, and presence they bring into daily life. I founded The D Diamond New York to honor that bond with the same permanence and intention people associate with true fine jewelry. At its core, the brand is about creating objects of devotion for canines, made to fine jewelry house standards, so each piece carries memory and meaning long after a moment has passed.”

Shamir felt a tremendous bond with her dog, and it could not be captured by some run-of-the-mill collar.

She also grew up watching her mother make jewelry, which taught her that “the most beautiful pieces are precise, restrained, and built to last.” But she didn’t want to approach D Diamond New York as simply “pet jewelry” and a way to fill a marketplace gap.

She envisioned a fine jewelry house for canines, held to high standards of craftsmanship and materials as any valuable heirloom, with an emphasis on memory and meaning.

"For many of us, our dogs are not 'like' family, they simply are family. They are there for us in every moment, even the ones who come with a formal celebration. Jewelry has always been a way to make a feeling permanent, and that is how I think about these pieces," she said.

View this post on Instagram Luxury With Purpose

Something else very appealing to clients is that the brand gives back 10% of its annual profits to no-kill canine shelters.

In 2025, approximately 5.8 million companion animals entered shelters nationwide. The length of time dogs, especially large dogs, remain in shelters before being adopted has increased in the last five years. This adds more stress to an already-strained system.

That is why philanthropy has been part of the brand from the very beginning, as Fancy and Luli were rescued.

The Future of Luxury Accessories for Dogs

Here are some interesting statistics: 94 million U.S. households have at least one pet, up from 82 million in 2023; 51% of U.S. households (68 million) have a dog, and 37% of U.S. households (49 million) have a cat.

This market has many possibilities, which is why Shamir plans to grow D Diamond New York over the next decade, but with intention.

“New partnerships, new stories, and new pieces will emerge, but the heart of the brand will stay the same: honoring the bond with one beloved dog and turning that love into something lasting and meaningful,” she said.

Diamonds may be a girl’s best friend, but so are dogs, after all.

Golden Retriever's Funny Reaction to Spotting Mom in Nail Salon Is the Best

Sun, 03/08/2026 - 7:10am

It's hard to top the look on my dogs' faces when they see me or another family member walk through the door. My Dachshund's tail goes into overdrive, and she practically shakes with excitement. Her Pug brother does his little "dance of joy" and prances around in circles. Their greeting is a beautiful expression of their unconditional love and gratitude.

Duke the Golden Retriever also appears to have an instant reaction when he sees his mom and the look on his face speaks volumes.

♬ Little Things - Adrián Berenguer

In the TikTok from @dukethatgolden, the precious pooch strolled down the street and passed by the window of a nail salon. Catching a glimpse of something — or someone — inside, Duke immediately jumped on the window like he was trying to break through.

"POV: My Golden Retriever on his walk found me in the nail salon," the onscreen text explained.

Duke lost all self-control at the sight of his mother. When window access didn't work, Duke bolted for the door and demanded it to be opened.

"My Golden Retriever immediately invited himself in," the caption read.

Someone saw the fur baby's unbridled excitement and let him in the salon. Duke literally pulled the person walking him as he dashed toward his mom like he couldn't get to her fast enough.

The final clip showed Duke completely calm, sitting by his mom's side. Maybe he even stayed for a manicure.

Golden Retrievers are Love Bugs

This beautiful breed is known for its huge heart, playful spirit, and infinite affection. Golden Retrievers show their love in a variety of ways, including tail wagging, jumping, snuggling, playing, licking, bringing objects, and loving gazes. Duke has obviously mastered all of these affectionate gestures.

Followers raved over the canine cutie and felt he was completely justified in crashing his mom's manicure.

"I would pay extra for a dog at a nail salon," one remarked.

"In the window: Mom MOM MOM! Sitting next to you: Yay! I’m with my mom," another posted.

"Boy dogs and their love for their mama. It is the best thing," a follower noted.

"Look at that face, he couldn't wait to see you again," someone raved.

Maybe next time, Duke's mom should book him an appointment as well.

Dogs and cats may have different needs, but both four-legged friends present their parents with one very similar conundrum: staying on top of pet hair. As much as we try to stay on top of their grooming, fur throughout the house can be a constant battle.

Thankfully, Bissell has put their 150 years of knowledge to work to create a robot vacuum that not only picks up 30% more pet hair, but also mops and vacuums on demand, taking a dreaded chore off your to-do list.

FlexClean FurForce 2-in-1 Robot, $599.99 at BISSELL FlexClean™ FurForce™

Pets bring a lovable amount of chaos into our lives. Their fur is a constant reminder of their presence, and if you have a messy drinker, you can say goodbye to having water-spot-free floors. My German Shepherd is the prime example of a messy Marvin. Not only is he a fur factory, but he's also the world's sloppiest drinker, so it's RIP to clean the floors. Even if I vacuum twice a day, I still find fur, and no one has time to vacuum multiple times daily.

Robot vacuums have become my go-to solution, but not all are created equal. Quite a few models on the market don't handle pet fur as well as I'd hope. Plus, many of them only vacuum, leaving mopping still on the table as a possible daily chore. Unless you decide to deal with water spots for a couple of days.

BISSELL's latest product not only vacuums with stronger suction but also mops your floors, taking both chores off your plate and leaving your home cleaner.

"Pet parents need reliable solutions that can keep up with real life, and that's exactly what FlexClean FurForce was built to do," Todd Manegold, Vice President & General Manager of Robots at BISSELL, shared in a press release. "We designed this robot to take on the ever-present pet messes with powerful suction, advanced navigation and hands‑free convenience so families can spend more time enjoying their pets — not cleaning up after them."

Related: Aldi's $30 Wireless Gadget Makes Cleaning Pet Messes a Total Breeze

One of the biggest struggles when vacuuming up pet fur is getting it tangled around the brush roll. The FurForce robot has the NeverTangle Brush, promising pet parents that they will never have to deal with hair wrap again.

The robot employs 360React lidar navigation, ensuring the vacuum can make it through your home without running into everything in sight. The HEPA filter blocks dust, pollen and dander from escaping into your home when the vacuum docks and empties itself at the docking station.

Use your phone to run the vacuum via the app, where you can set a schedule or stop it at any time. It has about 180 minutes of runtime, saving you time and effort when cleaning up after your pets.

While $599.99 may seem like a lot for a robot vacuum, it saves you time and effort, freeing up time for you to play with your pet. BISSELL also donates a percentage of every purchase tothe BISSELL Pet Foundation, which helps reduce pet homelessness.

6 Affectionate Behaviors Your Dog Hates, Says a Trainer

Sun, 03/08/2026 - 6:10am

When we talk about dogs, we often think about the unconditional love our furry friends have for us and vice versa. But experts are begging pet parents to understand that unconditional love doesn't mean a dog doesn't have their limits. In fact, there may be affectionate behaviors people do that dogs secretly hate. However, because dogs communicate in ther own way, it can be hard to know how your pup feels if you don't know how to read their body language. To help you understand your dog better, we rounded up 6 things your dog hates that you think are affectionate, according to a trainer.

"Sometimes, people are not the best at seeing a dog's body language and being able to tell that they are unhappy or scared," explains Annie-Mae Levy, CFBA, professional dog trainer at Woofz. So, how can your dog doesn't like something? By paying attention to their reactions when you do something like hug them to see if it seems to affect them or annoy them. In those cases, you may see dog stress signs or signs your dog is uncomfortable. "By educating yourself on what dogs generally do and do not like, you then don’t need to be quite so aware of analyzing how they feel every time you show affection."

Levy shares that loving pet parents aren't trying to upset their dogs on purpose. Sometimes, it's a matter of projection and people forget that our dogs love them, but they are their own separate species. Because of this, there are things dogs hate that owners do. "It is very hard for us as humans to imagine what another species does or doesn’t find pleasant," Levy explains. "We fall into the trap all the time of assuming our dogs like exactly what we do, but canines and humans have evolved very differently so it makes sense they would show affection differently than we do."

To help you how to avoid that trap and keep you from wondering, "What behaviors do dogs hate?" keep reading. Some of them may surprise you. Find out if you're guilty of any, so you can stop doing them and strengthen your human-dog bond.

6 Affectionate Behaviors You Think Your Dog Loves—But Hates A dog annoyed beinig hugged and kissed.

It's natural to want to shower your pet with all the love in the world. However, there are things that your dog hates that you think are affectionate (or, perhaps, guests in your house do). Levy shares insights that will help you show you avoid accidentally scaring or annoying your dog, so you can focus on speaking their actual love language.

1. Hugs

When you think about how you can show affection to your dog as a pet owner, giving them a hug may come to mind. However, that might not be the best idea as it's actually a dog owner mistake and a behavior dogs find stressful. In fact, Levy is begging pet parents to exercise some personal restraint because dogs don't like hugs. "Dogs do not hug one another, so this is one of those actions that translates badly," Levy explains.

Instead, hugs can look a bit like another body cue in the dog world with a different (and fear-triggering) meaning. "Usually, dogs will only posture over one another to assert control, and so for a dog that’s less well socialized or on the nervous side, this can be a bit too scary," Levy adds.

So, how can you show love without upsetting you dog? The best way to show your dog affection is with gentle ear scratches, belly rubs, or back pets. Even a brief touch or quick peck can reinforce your human-dog bond without making your pet uncomfortable.

2. Direct eye contact

Humans are taught to look someone in the eye as a sign of respect or to foster a deep connection. However, this is one of the things dogs hate that owners do to them. Why should you not make direct eye contact with a dog? "Naturally, eye contact in the canine world can signify threatening behaviour and aggression," Levy says.

Instead of forcing direct eye contact, pay attention to your dog’s body language to see that it’s something they dislike, and let them choose when to look at you while using gentle gestures and positive reinforcement to build trust and strengthen your human-dog bond.

3. Over-the-top happy greeting

Your dog may do a happy dance and bark happily the moment they sense you're coming home, which may be before you get to the door. It's natural to want to match the excitement, and Levy says your dog may like it. The issue is that giving a greeting that registers at a 20/10 on the happy scale can backfire, causing stress, frustration, or behavioral issues. If you notices these dog behaviors, those are signs your dog is annoyed.

"Over-the-top greetings can lead to frustration and upset down the line when this isn’t consistent between everyone or someone doesn’t want the dog to jump up," Levy says. Because of this, it’s better to greet your dog calmly, reward relaxed behavior, and maintain a consistent routine to reinforce positive dog behavior and strengthen the human-dog bond.

4. Head pats

Both big and small dogs may adore a good petting session focused on their back, however, Levy notes that many pups wince when someone goes in for a head pat, which shows you it's a behavior your dog isn't a fan of. If this is something you do, you're not alone as it's a common mistake dog owners make without knowing it.

Why do dogs dislike head pats? “Hands over a dog’s head aren’t really visible to them, so a hand coming down repeatedly can feel intimidating,” Levy explains. This makes head pats one of the affectionate behaviors dogs don't like.

To avoid stressing your dog, keep your hands where your dog can see them as you pet. Focusing on areas they enjoy, like their back, belly, or ears, shows affection in a way that respects your dog’s comfort and boundaries.

5. Handshakes or dancing

This is one of the affectionate things dogs dislike that owners may not realize. While some dogs enjoy learning tricks like shaking hands, it should never be forced. Even dogs who usually respond to commands may show subtle signs that they’re uncomfortable—like walking away or refusing to participate. The same applies to taking both paws for a “dance” with your pet.

"Grabbing your dog forcibly for anything like this, which might seem fun, can be really upsetting for them," Levy says. "This puts a lot of social pressure on them and will reinforce the feeling that they are unable to flee if they wanted to."

Look out for signs your dog is annoyed or anxious. Pay attention to your dog’s body language, including them turning their head, moving away, or stiffening. These are clear signs your dog is stressed or uncomfortable. Always remember: it’s your pet’s prerogative whether they want to participate in tricks, dances, or affectionate gestures. Respecting their boundaries strengthens trust and promotes a healthy human-dog bo

6. Going to big group gatherings

When it comes to behaviors dogs secretly hate, socalizing them can be one of them. While some pets are the life of the party, others don't feel safe in big, noisy crowds, so keep them in mind before bringing your pet to a family reunion, your wedding or the bash of the summer. Even though you may be bringing them so they can be by your side, the kind guesture may be overwhelming to some pets.

"While for some dogs this might be really fun, for a lot of more introverted dogs, loud noises and busy spaces are very overwhelming and scary," Levy points out. "Dogs love predictability and routine, so more often than not, you're best off leaving them at home for that party."

Signs that your dog is uncomfortable in big crowds include freezing in place, hiding, shaking, or trying to escape. Recognizing these behaviors can help you avoid stressing your dog, keep them safe and maintain their emotional well-being during social events.

Help Your Velcro Pet Get Over Separation Anxiety: 7 Trainer Tips

Sun, 03/08/2026 - 5:10am

It’s so sweet to have your dog be your constant companion, but it’s understandable to feel slightly annoyed when you can’t even go to the bathroom without your pup following you or whining to be let in. If it feels like you can’t do anything without your pooch joining you, you probably have a Velcro dog. You're not alone, though. Lots of pet owners find themselves in the same positon and are often left wondering, "How can I help my dog with separation anxiety?" Luckily, we rounded up 7 ways you can help clingy dogs foster independence, according to trainers.

Why are dogs clingy in the first place? “‘Velcro-like’ behavior for dogs is usually rooted in attachment, so these dogs feel safest close to their person,” says Erin Askeland, CPDT-KA, CBCC-KA, Camp Bow Wow's animal health and behavior expert. But this can be a little challenging for pet owners to deal with, day in and day out. “We all love a Velcro dog wanting to be near us, but sometimes it creates an overly bonded dog,” says Elisha Stynchula, CPDT-KA, certified dog trainer and owner of I Said Sit School for Dogs.

After all, attached dogs can struggle when you inevitably need to be away from them, whether it’s at work or just out living your life away from home. “Some dogs can become reliant on having their owner nearby, making it harder for them to cope when their owner is out of reach,” Askeland says.  But just because your pup is stuck to you like glue right now doesn’t mean they’ll always be that way. A little targeted training can help to teach your furbaby that they can get through the day—and even thrive—without you both being on top of each other. “The goal is to gently teach them that space and time away from you, even when you’re available, is safe, too,” Askeland says.

With that in mind, these are the top ways trainers recommend teaching your furry sidekick to be a little more confident and independent so they know that even though you're their safe place, they can enjoy their alone time too.

Making a change takes patience and consistency, but by implementing these simple, trainer-approved methods, you can gently guide your needy dog toward being comfortable on their own. These steps focus on positive reinforcement and making alone time a calm, happy experience.

1. Start with small moments away from each other

While it's nice when your dog enjoys hanging out with you, it can sometimes lead to a clingy dog not knowing how to be alone without worrying. Because of this, in a perfect world, you’d train your dog early that it’s OK to be away from you sometimes, Stynchula says. “Simple steps like closing the door if you go to the bathroom, supervised tethering or putting up a baby gate can start to teach your dog that the smallest bit of separation is normal and nothing to stress over,” she says. “The trick is pet parents have to create these moments, otherwise their Velcro dog will find its way underfoot time and time again and never learn the life skills to survive small degrees of separation.”

2. Teach reliable cue responses

Teaching your dog cues like sit, stay, and settle, and rewarding calm behavior, can make a big difference when it comes to separation anxiety in dogs, says Shannon Walker, dog trainer and founder of Northwest Battle Buddies. “A dog that knows how to self‑settle is ultimately more comfortable alone and less prone to being your permanent velcro attachment,” she explains.

When you make sure you dog knows these simple training commands, it can help reduce separation anxiety and encourages your anxious or clingy dog to develop more independent behavior.

3. Have entertainment handy when you’re gone

Do you have a clingy dog? It could be because they are bored. After all, it’s understandable for your furry BFF to want to be around you constantly if you’re their only entertainment. That’s why Walker recommends having things like puzzle feeders, long‑lasting chews, lick mats or frozen treat toys around when you need to leave the house, or even when you want some time alone. “It can keep them focused on the toy and not you,” she says.

Related: 7 Adorable Ways Dogs Say ‘I’m Happy’ Without Barking, According to Vets

4. Stick to a schedule

Dogs can feel anxious without a routine, Walker says. Because of this, she suggests being as consistent as possible with regular walking and meal times, so they know what to expect next.

This simple change can helpin reduce a Velcro dog's anxiety and encourage more independent behavior. Once you give it a try, you'll start seeing a change in your pup.

5. Leave the house gradually

Abruptly leaving the house can ramp up your dog’s nerves, making them more likely to be stressed, clingy, or even destructive while you’re gone. Walker recommends “slowly preparing to leave, perhaps by putting on your shoes first, waiting a moment, and then picking up your keys for the final exit when you say goodbye.”

This helps your clingy dog get used to the idea that you’re leaving before you actually do so, reducing separation anxiety and promoting more independent behavior.

6. Reinforce moments alone

Askeland suggests rewarding your needy pet every time they do something on their own. “If your dog chooses to lie on their bed across the room instead of at your feet, calmly drop a treat between their feet to show them that being away from you has benefits,” she says.

By doing this, you are helping your clingy pet be independent and slowly reducing pet clinginess.

7. Try not to respond to clinginess

How can you stop a Velcro dog from following you? This can be tough, but Askeland recommends being aware of how you respond when your dog is your constant accessory. “If your dog paws at you every time you sit down and you immediately pet them, you're teaching them that constant contact works,” she says. Instead, she suggests practicing a settle cue on a mat or rewarding calm behavior when they're not actively seeking attention. “Remember, independence is a skill and it can be learned with practice and positive reinforcement,” Askeland says.

This $150 Transformable Cat Tree Fits Perfectly in Small Spaces With Multiple Cats

If you're a multi-cat owner, you know the drama that comes with the prime spots on the cat tree. Of course, more often than not, the most desired spot is just where the other cat is sitting. My two cats were always vying for the top spot on the cat tree, but would barely sit on it if no one was up there.

While we want our cats to be comfortable, no one has room for more than one cat tree in their house, but cat trees that can be transformed are always welcome, and this slim cat tree from All Modern is the perfect fit.

Azar 56.3" Transformable Cat Tree, $155 at All Modern

We've all been in the position where, even though we don't have much space, we recognize that it's sometimes easier to have two cat trees. The Azar Transformable Cat Tower is here to make all our configuration wishes come true, even in small spaces. The tower has three configurations that support all our spatial needs while keeping our cats happy, including the ability to split into two.

The aesthetically neutral tree is made from solid wood with a thick, sturdy base. It weighs 34 pounds and stands 53.6 inches tall when fully assembled. No matter which configuration you choose, your cat will have scratching posts available for stretching and clawing to their heart's desire on all four posts. Plus, there are multiple platforms for relaxing.

One of the coolest features, though, is the U-shaped, sling-like perch your cat can luxuriate on, and the clear, bowl-like half-circle they can pour themselves into.

While all the perches and unique sleeping spots are fabulous features, my favorite part is the three different configurations. It can be a tall tree with a terrace-like perch at the top, or you can switch it up so the U-shaped lounge takes the coveted top slot, with the bowl underneath.

Related: Costco Is Selling a 5-Level, ‘Easy to Assemble’ Cat Tree, and Cats Are Completely Obsessed

You can also split it into two separate cat trees, which may help resolve some issues between your cats if you have the space. In the split configuration, the bowl and U-shaped lounge are on one tree, and the terrace and flat perch are on the other.

The split is also helpful if you only have one cat, but they like to move between rooms during the day. One portion could sit in your living room, while the other portion goes to a bedroom or even a catio. That way, your cat gets options of what and where to sit, adding a bit of variety to their day.

Reviewers seem to love the tree's clean lines and modern aesthetic, as well as its variety of features. One says that the tree is "gorgeous' and has "soft cusions," while others say that their cats "love it."

One thrilled cat mom writes, "I love this cat tree, it still looks great after a year! Plus, the bowl of cat is a treat for everyone." Another cat mom agrees, saying, "Very nice cat tree. Visually appealing in my home. My two furry friends are enjoying the height and various places to nap. Would recommend."

So, whether you have a small space and need an aesthetically pleasing cat tree that doesn't take over your room, or you want your cats to have variety wrapped up into one tree, this may be worth a look.

Neighbor Kid's Snow Day With Rescue Husky Is Pure Wholesome Joy

Sat, 03/07/2026 - 9:20pm

Huskies and snow days are basically a cinematic pairing. Siberian Huskies were bred for cold climates, sled pulling, and generally thriving in winter weather, so when snow hits the ground, something ancient and dramatic awakens inside them. It’s less “dog in yard” and more “Alaskan creature doing what he does best and reliving his destiny.”

Levi, a rescue Husky, proves exactly why this breed and snowy afternoons are a match made in wholesome heaven. When the neighbor’s kid spots him outside looking mildly bored, what happens next feels like the opening scene of a coming-of-age movie set in the suburbs.

@levithehuskyrescue

this one is for the people who say dogs and kids don’t mix… #cutedogs #dogvideos #husky

♬ original sound - Levi, Smuckers + The Twins

TikTok user @levithehuskyrescue shared the moment with the caption, “POV: Your neighbor’s kid spots your Husky bored in the snow and asks if he can come play.” And honestly? Levi says yes with his entire body.

Related: This German Shepherd’s First Snow Zoomies Are Pure Winter Magic

The little boy throws snow, buries the pup, runs around, and Levi fully commits. One commenter hilariously imagined Levi thinking, “Why yes, small human, I shall permit you to treat me as the center of all universes,” which feels deeply accurate.

Another person shared that growing up, they didn’t ask if their friend could play—they asked if the dog could. Same. Some dogs just radiate main-character energy, and Levi clearly has it.

And the mom watching this snow chaos unfold? You know she’s thrilled her kid is outside burning energy instead of negotiating screen time indoors.

Do All Huskies Love Snow? Two Huskies lying in the snow.

Most Huskies adore cold weather because of their thick, double coats and working-dog history. They’re built for freezing temperatures and often show increased energy, playfulness, and stamina when the snow starts falling.

That said, every dog is an individual. While many Huskies turn into full snow goblins the second flakes appear, temperament and past experiences can influence how they respond.

Levi, however, appears to have unlocked Peak Snow Mode. Watching him and that little boy laugh and tumble around is the kind of content that makes you temporarily believe the world is fine. Just two beings experiencing uncomplicated joy in the cold.

Honestly, it’s the best kind of snow day.

Sam's Club Is Selling a New Bolster Pet Bed That's 'Super Comfy and Supportive' for Large Breeds

Sat, 03/07/2026 - 8:55pm

Parade Pets aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Every pet owner knows the familiar sound of a dog circling their favorite spot before finally settling down for a nap. This instinctive behavior is rooted in a deep-seated need for security and physical comfort. In the wild, animals create dens to protect themselves from the elements and potential threats; in our modern homes, that "den" often translates to a patch of rug or the foot of our own beds. However, as our understanding of veterinary science and animal ergonomics evolves, it has become clear that a simple floor cushion isn't always enough to support a pet’s long-term joint health and emotional well-being.

Creating a dedicated restorative space for a pet involves more than just picking a soft fabric. For senior dogs, orthopedic support is a necessity to manage stiff joints and hip dysplasia, while younger, more anxious pets often crave the tactile "hug" of raised edges to feel safe. Furthermore, the modern household demands that these pet accessories integrate seamlessly into interior design. No one wants a tattered, smelly floor mat clashing with their living room decor. The ideal solution balances high-tech pressure relief, sustainable manufacturing and a color palette that reflects contemporary home styling trends—all without breaking the bank.

Pit Bull-Boxer Puppy Explores Hilarious 'Options' During First Time Left Out of the Crate

Sat, 03/07/2026 - 8:20pm

Every time I think I've seen my fair share of cute puppies, along comes another ready to blow everyone else out of the proverbial water. They seem to hit their stride in both adorable looks and curiosity once they reach ages 6 to 12 months because the universe knew they'd have to balance the chaos with cuteness, so we forget all the naughty things they do.

One such pup is Button, an 11-month-old Pit Bull-Boxer mix who was recently gifted his first taste of freedom. His very first experience out of a crate alone proved to be an interesting dissection of the best places to sit, stand, and lay—and they did not disappoint!

@beginningwithbutton

He had to be rescued from the table 😭🐶 I moved everything he could get into out of the room so nothing got destroyed 😅 he had no interest in playing with his toys on his doggy bed either #puppytiktok #dogsoftiktok #puppylife #homealone #doglover

It looks like little buddy had a good yet confusing time, but the good news is he didn't get into any trouble (except standing on the table, because parkour!). A perfect gentleman who follows the rules, Button couldn't be any more precious while exploring. He did a whole lot better than my sassy Corgi did when she was small, so kudos!

Related: Fluffy Little Pekingese Puppies Look Just Like a Bunch of Tiny Ewoks

Mom did explain the curious pup "had to be rescued from the table" and she removed things from the room he might destroy, but I'm sure Button standing on the table wasn't on her 2026 Bingo card! It's a good thing he's so cute, right, Mom?!

He's also a fast-growing boy. Depending on the breed, some puppies do the majority of their growing during the first 6 to 18 months of life. Already, Button has doubled in size.

@beginningwithbutton

Time is a thief 😭 3 months vs 11 months🐶 #puppytiktok #dogsoftiktok #timeisathief #growingup #puppylife

♬ night changes - ella🤠 Tips for Your Pup's First Taste of Freedom

One of the first things I learned when leaving my puppy out of the crate was to take it slow and gradually build up their "freedom" time before venturing out for a few hours. It's not clear what Button's mom's process was, but he can still be trained from where he's at now.

Experts recommend first wearing them out with exercise so they're too tired to get into trouble. You also want to make sure they're calm when you leave and don't make a big deal out of coming and going. Leaving them with a high-value toy or treat they only get when you leave can help, but there are some pups who aren't interested, so it takes a little trial and error.

With patience, consistency, and a whole lot of praise (and treats!), I'm sure Button will grow bored with his parkour ways in no time flat!

Vet Explains Why You Need To Get on the Floor With Your Dogs in New Video

Sat, 03/07/2026 - 8:00pm

I don't have kids, but everyone I know who does says that they're always wondering if they're doing enough. I can relate to that for my dogs, though, as I'm sure everyone with a dog can. It's heartbreaking to think that your fur-baby isn't getting enough love!

Recently, a veterinarian took to TikTok to share one thing he thinks dog parents need to be doing more. Apparently, getting on the floor with your dogs is an important, easy way to make their day, and it has several other benefits:

@dr.adam_christman

Friendly reminder…get on the floor! #petsrule #dachshund #petsoftiktok #weens #weinerdog

♬ original sound - dr.adam_christman_Veterinarian

First of all, Dr. Adam Christman has some of the cutest dogs ever, especially Carl. That's a dog I would love to get on the floor and snuggle, and Capone looks like the best playmate! A concern of mine is also a concern of his, though: I will not be getting back up.

I don't get on the floor with my dogs often, but I guess I'll have to start. When I do, I definitely notice that they love it! I get more kisses that way, and they're way more likely to play a successful game of fetch!

Related: Super Rare ‘Isabella’ German Shepherd Has the Coolest Hints of Lavender in His Fur

Why Should You Get On the Floor With Your Dogs?

Dr. Christman is on the floor with his dogs in the video, and both of them are having a great time. In case the "them loving it" aspect isn't enough, though, there are several reasons why it's actually beneficial:

  • Getting on their level enhances bonding time and allows for more love.
  • It helps you play games at their level, and signals to them that it's playtime.
  • It can help you understand their body language and behaviors better.

Think about it this way: why do you let your dog on the furniture? Because they want to spend time with you! Why should they always be the ones changing levels? Though Dr. Christman doesn't give an amount of time per day you should do this, 20 minutes to an hour is enough time for some play and snuggles!

Other Possible Benefits

Dr. Christman goes over three of the benefits, but there are definitely more. Getting on the floor is a free and easy (for most) to make your dog's day brighter!

Happy Golden Retriever smiling at the camera.

Getting on the floor is also:

  1. Easier on a dog's joints than constantly jumping.
  2. Good for gaining insight into comfortable/uncomfortable spots.
  3. Good for seeing if it's time for a nail trim.

Plus, it's a little hilarious. You should give it a try!

Golden Retriever Knows He Can Do No Wrong and Fully Leans Into It

Sat, 03/07/2026 - 7:20pm

Some dogs seek approval and change their personalities, hobbies, dreams, and activities to set themselves up to be loved by everyone. But others seem to be born with this innate buzz around them that makes them so lovable and magical that they can essentially do no wrong. It’s a certain confidence they have about them, and when you see it, you know it.

And there’s one Golden Retriever who knows it, feels it, and now expects it. And somehow, his knowing how amazing he is just dials up his charm. He soaks up the praise like it’s his full-time job, clearly aware that he’s nailed the “good boy” title. And he loves it.

@burrowthegolden

On March 1, 2026, @burrowthegolden shared a TikTok video of their stunning Golden Retriever, Burrow, who has been coined "the most stubborn Golden Retriever in Chicago," but also deserves the title, "the goodest Golden Retriever in Chicago." And he seems to believe that wholeheartedly, too.

In the clip, the sweet, charming dog holds a stick in his mouth and presents it as a gift to the person behind the camera. And he knows that he's the "most adored' Golden, and it doesn't matter what he's doing—biting and chewing a stick, going crazy on a pup cup, getting pets from people while he's out in the world, Burrow is eating up the affection and loving every second.

In the comments, others very much agree with Burrow being the best pup, with comments left to amp up his already large self-esteem. Comments include things like, "The happiest," "That adorable face," "Your pet is absolutely paw-dorable," "Yummy stick," and loads of emojis, too, mostly the ones with hearts.

Golden Retrievers Are Known for Their Sweet Temperaments

Burrow is one of the cutest Golden Retrievers we've come across, and the fact that he knows it makes him even cuter. It's a charming vibe to him, and since he's a Golden, he fits the typical sweet temperament these pups have..

The American Kennel Club describes the Golden Retriever as being "devoted, intelligent, and friendly," and PetPlan UK agrees, using the words "reliable, loyal, and kind" to describe this breed's typical personality. And their fun, playful personality tends to stick around far longer than their puppyhood, lasting well into their adult years, which isn't something all pups experience.

Whether they're cuddling on the couch, outside for a walk, working with kids in therapy, or anything in between, play or work, Goldens will always do it with a happy smile and the sweetest of temperaments.

Oh, Burrow, keep that smile!

Wild Cockatoos 'Choose New Mom' and It's Amazing

Sat, 03/07/2026 - 7:00pm

Every day, I wake up and wish a wild animal would choose me. There are about a dozen deer who traipse through my yard regularly, and I adore them, but they do not care for me. If I could, I would bring them all into my home like they're puppies.

One Australian woman is living my dream, except instead of deer, it was a swarm of wild Cockatoos. They've decided they love her vibes, and now they're slowly closing in on her apartment:

@travellingnari

Travelling Nari is an expat, now living in Australia. That's where Cockatoos are from, and she definitely seems to have learned that the hard way. She fed a single Cockatoo who stopped by her balcony.

He must've told all of his friends, because now, she has a whole bunch of children turning up every day. They wait for their snack by her big glass doors and look in on her judgmentally until she comes out with their snack!

Birds Go Where the Food Is

This is the only video she's made about her new "pet" birds so far, but I bet they're still showing up every day looking for their free meal. She shows off a specialty seed stick she bought for them, and they love it.

Cockatoos are lucky: Australia gets a ton of tourism, and tourists tend to think Cockatoos are really cool. You'll often find them hanging out in high-traffic areas, hoping to catch a scrap or swindle some tourists into giving them a bite.

A Quick Guide to Feeding Wild Birds

In most cases, feeding wild birds is completely unnecessary. They know how to find their own food; they're just looking for an easy score. However, if you're anything like me and have the willpower of a wet sponge, there are some rules to follow.

  • Do not feed them fried/saucy foods.
  • Steer clear of giving them bread/pastries.
  • Never feed them chocolate, gummy candy, or anything spicy.

If you're really desperate, try to feed them things like pieces of fruit, fresh vegetables, or bird seed. Though keep in mind that if you're keeping bird seed in your pocket on vacation, you might have gone a little wild yourself...

Five Below's Adorable Mailbox-Inspired Cat Scratcher Is Too Cute to Pass Up

Sat, 03/07/2026 - 6:55pm

The modern pet owner is no longer satisfied with bulky, unattractive accessories that take up valuable square footage. As our homes become multi-functional spaces where we work, relax and entertain, there has been a significant shift toward pet-furniture fusion. This design philosophy prioritizes the psychological needs of our cats—such as their innate drive to climb, hunt and sharpen their claws—while ensuring the items themselves serve as conversation pieces or whimsical additions to our interior decor.

In the age of viral social media pets, the demand for unique, photogenic play structures has also skyrocketed. Owners are constantly searching for interactive solutions that prevent furniture scratching while providing mental stimulation. However, the market is often polarized between flimsy, disposable cardboard slabs and high-end designer trees that can cost hundreds of dollars. Finding that Goldilocks product—one that offers durability, a creative theme and a budget-friendly price point—is the ultimate goal for any savvy cat parent looking to refresh their pet's environment this year.

Great Pyrenees Won't Take Snacks From Strangers Unless He Gets Mom's Permission

Sat, 03/07/2026 - 6:10pm

I'd like to say my dogs are always obedient, but that would be stretching the truth. They're very well-behaved fur babies, but when it comes to food, let's just say they march to their own drummer. My Dachshund is relentless in begging any time we have a snack or meal, and my Pug mix is as quick as lightning if any scrap falls to the floor. They don't feel the need to ask my permission when presented with a treat by someone else or if they happen to find something tossed aside on their own.

Ritchie the Great Pyrenees is quite the opposite and an example in good manners. He waits for his mom to give the green light when any sort of savory is offered.

In the TikTok from @ritchiethepyr, the gentle giant was on a plane en route to an unknown destination with his mom. As he sat quietly by his mother, a woman in the row ahead of him sneaked a piece of jerky through the seats for Ritchie to enjoy.

"The lady sitting in front of us bought a pack of beef jerky just to give it to Ritchie," the onscreen text read.

The canine cutie sniffed the tempting tidbit but didn't partake. Ritchie refused to have even one nibble until his mom gave the go-ahead.

"Had to tell him it was okay to get it," the story continued.

Ritchie Enjoyed the Jerky

Ritchie's mother had no problem allowing her fur baby the special food, especially since he was being such a good boy.

"You can get it, Ritchie," his mom said, then explained his reluctance to the generous passenger. "He doesn't take it from strangers because he is trained to really listen to me in airports and planes."

The Great Pyrenees gently took the beef jerky like a gentleman and looked at the kind lady with gratitude.

"He's so cute," the woman gushed. "He's the best."

Viewers of the video fell in love with Ritchie and praised the precious pooch for his heartwarming manners.

"What a smart boy, not taking things from strangers," one raved.

"Airplane snacks just hit different," another pointed out.

Ragdoll Cat Begs Mom To Kiss His Paws Like the Sweetest Baby

Sat, 03/07/2026 - 6:00pm

Some people say that, if you raise your pets right, they shouldn't be needy at all. Personally, I disagree: I want my pets to need me. I got them because I wanted companionship, not because I want some roommates!

One Ragdoll cat recently provided a perfect example of why it's a little bit awesome when cats are needy. He wanted kisses on his paws from his mom, and it's so sweet, our hearts can't take it:

@the_cat_named_mouse

#catsoftiktok #ragdollcatsoftiktok #kitten #ragdollcat #cat

♬ Slipping Through My Fingers - Declan McKenna

Mouse the Ragdoll Cat is a mama's boy to his core. He's a stunning Blue Bicolor Ragdoll living in LA with his mom, and he's truly living his best life. As the only cat in the house, he gets all of the:

  • Attention
  • Affection
  • Treats

He adores his mom, too, and loves to demand she kiss his paws. He does so by slamming his paws into her face until she kisses them!

Ragdoll Kittens Are Needy

Mouse is a classic Ragdoll kitten, and a purebred one, at that. He's a Blue Bicolor Ragdoll, meaning that he has both white and blue-grey fur. He also has the telltale "inverted V" shape on his face. You can see it better in this clip:

@the_cat_named_mouse

♬ glue song sped up - ່

If that wasn't enough, though, you can really tell he's a Ragdoll by how needy he is. Mouse wants to spend his entire day with his mom, and if he had his way, he would. Ragdoll cats are super affectionate and thrive best in loving homes with attentive parents.

Is Kissing Cats Safe?

We are all guilty of kissing our pets, and if you say you don't, I genuinely do not believe you. I don't kiss my pets on their mouths, but their little foreheads don't stand a chance! As far as they're concerned, I'm their mother!

Mama Ragdoll Cat grooms her baby.

Image via Shutterstock / Moomusician

It's generally safe to kiss a healthy cat, though you should avoid kissing them on the mouth at any time. You could come in contact with some form of bacteria, like Salmonella, though the risk is low. You should not kiss a cat if:

  • They're a rescue who has not been cleared by a vet yet.
  • They're visibly dirty.
  • You're planning on kissing a baby after.

If you are going to kiss your cat, choose a neutral area, like the forehead, as opposed to the mouth. Paws are questionable, too, though it's not like Mouse left his mom much of a choice!

Couple Shares Rare Look Into the Special Recipe Keeping Their Disabled Dog Healthy

Sat, 03/07/2026 - 5:48pm

A dog waiting patiently in the kitchen isn’t unusual. But when you have a disabled dog wagging his tail and waiting for his meal, the dinner is more than a meal. For dogs with disabilities, every meal is a carefully designed plate to help them with their condition.

In a touching video circulating online, we see a couple preparing meals for their beloved pup. As they say in the video, they consulted a canine nutritionist to help them come up with a recipe tailor-made for their pup and her disability.

🐾 SIGN UP to get “pawsitivity” delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾

The whole process is surgically precise, as the couple measures every single ingredient. Because their dog, Sterling, gets the same meal every day, they prepare it in a large pot. And after preparing, they divide it into small containers perfect for her daily intake.

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/-HAm0YVM_1E

For this couple and their pet, cooking is more than just feeding. It is about giving Sterling the best life possible.

This story isn't just about food though; it’s a heartwarming reminder that "disability" doesn't mean a lesser quality of life. It means higher dedication.

What Viewers Are Saying

Anyone who has lived with dogs and loves dogs knows that pet parents will do anything for their fur babies. In the comments section people talked about how these puppies are lucky to have someone taking care of them, saying, “I feel so happy knowing that these pups found you guys. That could afford this and give them the happiest lives.”

Some fans noticed the way Sterling behaves in the video, saying things like “Sterling takes her supervisory position very seriously," and “Does Sterling lick out the pot?".

Why Nutrition Matters More for Dogs With Disabilities

For dogs with mobility challenges, the entire nutritional plan changes from eating to stay alive to eating to support their body.

Disabled dogs need more omega-3 fatty acids that reduce inflammation in joints. Diets with omega-3 supplementation help disabled dogs improve their mobility.

High-quality protein is the second most important ingredient. Dogs need protein to maintain muscle mass. Dogs that cannot move as easily need even more and higher-quality protein. Some of the better options for protein include turkey meat, lean beef, lamb, salmon, whitefish and eggs.

Caring for Dogs With Disabilities

Sterling is the star of the video. She is so focused on the cooking process; she never breaks eye contact with the turkey pot.

Dogs with disabilities can live happy lives with the proper care and management. And as we see in the video, this family tries their best to provide the best life possible for Sterling.

Disabled dogs can have reduced mobility, a slower metabolism or higher inflammation levels. Their diet needs adjustments to support their joint health, muscle maintenance and overall well-being, and we can see that Sterling's family is providing her with the bowl of food (and love) she needs and deserves.

Pudgy Gray Frenchie Looks Exactly Like a Baby Koala Bear

Sat, 03/07/2026 - 5:20pm

There is something about a fluffy French Bulldog puppy that makes your brain short-circuit in the best possible way. Now imagine one who is 6 weeks old, gray, extra pudgy, and shaped suspiciously like a tiny koala bear who accidentally wandered off a eucalyptus tree and into someone’s arms.

In an adorable TikTok video, a fluffy gray Frenchie is gently held up by his dog mom, and the resemblance is almost unfair. Round face. Plush fur. Compact little body. He looks less like a dog and more like a limited-edition stuffed animal you’d panic-buy at checkout.

♬ Thats my puppy dawg - Frink

Shared by @the.frenchie.queen, the video is captioned: “Fluffy male Frenchie 6 weeks old,” and honestly, that is all the information the internet needed to collectively lose it.

The puppy just hangs there calmly, soft and squishy-looking, blinking at the camera like he has absolutely no idea he resembles a baby koala with a gym membership.

Related: Frenchie Has Full Toddler Tantrum Until He Gets a Popsicle Bite

The comments are exactly what you’d expect.

“He is so cute and soft,” one person wrote.

“Oh, how precious!!! I love him!” said another.

Several people pointed out what we were all thinking: “He looks like a little baby koala bear!”

And they are not wrong. The fluffy coat gives him that plush, rounded silhouette, and his compact Frenchie build seals the deal. It is the kind of puppy who makes you involuntarily say, “Oh my goodness” in a voice you did not know you had.

Why Frenchies Are So Popular White French Bulldog.

Image Via:

French Bulldogs have become one of the most popular dog breeds in recent years, and it's not hard to see why. They are small, adaptable, and known for their affectionate, clownish personalities. Frenchies tend to bond closely with their families and often thrive in apartments or smaller homes because of their compact size.

Their expressive faces and bat-like ears give them a unique look that stands out instantly. Add in the occasional fluffy coat variation, and you get puppies that resemble everything from koalas to tiny bears.

French Bulldogs are also known for being social and relatively low-energy pups compared to some larger breeds. While they still need daily walks and playtime, they are often content to lounge nearby and soak up attention.

That said, prospective families should always research the breed carefully. Frenchies can be prone to certain health concerns, particularly related to their breathing because of their brachycephalic (short-nosed) structure. Responsible breeding, regular veterinary care, and realistic expectations are essential.

But when you see a 6-week-old, gray, fluffy Frenchie looking like a baby koala who pays rent, it becomes very clear why so many people fall head over heels for them.

Cockatoo Returning Home After 4 Months Is the Happiest Boy in the World

Sat, 03/07/2026 - 4:55pm

When we have pets, it's easy to forget all the ways they're affected when we're sick, go on vacation, or undergo a procedure and need time to recover. They don't understand not being around us, why they're restricted from normal routines, or where we've gone.

Cumulus, one of the sweetest Cockatoos in the world, went through this recently when his mom had surgery. While she focused on healing, Cumulus stayed at his parents' animal hospital. While he had a great time, there's no place like home.

@fixchix

He was so happy to be home, and we were happy to have him back💙#noplacelikehome #positivevibes #home #love

♬ original sound - Fixchix💙

If you're not an avid @fixchix follower, she explained in the comments why Cumulus stayed at the clinic for four months, writing: "My wife had surgeries and we couldn’t risk him biting her during recovery (infection would have cost her her leg)."

Thankfully, the long wait is over, and the happy, ridiculously cute Cockatoo can get back to his favorite things, like singing and dancing around the house, making everyone's day brighter, and having everyone he loves back together, under one roof.

Related: Sly Cockatoo's Stellar Stalking Skills Are Straight Out of a Horror Movie

A follow-up post showed the toll all that excitement took on the precious Parrot. He was SO happy to be home with his people, and in his cage, where he enjoyed his beloved rope and toys again, that once everything settled, he'd zapped every ounce of his energy!

Luckily, this is one bird who doesn't stay down for long. He probably just needed some time to remember the daily routine. And he's always one for making sure he's the house's prime entertainment source (even if they didn't ask for it)—it's why we adore him!

@fixchix

We didn’t really want to watch that episode anyway😅 def feeling better🤣#noplacelikehome #positivevibes #love

♬ original sound - Fixchix💙 Do Cockatoos Really Need Solid Routines?

As with any pet, Cockatoos thrive on having a solid routine, but so do their caregivers. These social, vocal, and active companions require a lot of attention, mental and physical stimulation, and plenty of love from their humans to ensure they're healthy, anxiety-free, and emotionally stable.

Things like consistent sleep and wake times, mealtimes, and regular social interactions will help prevent destructive behaviors like feather plucking, screaming, or worse. They're just like human toddlers who crave structure to feel their best.

Hopefully, now that life is good again, Cumulus can get back to business. We all need his joy!

While every dog has its quirks, these faithful breeds have built lasting reputations for being tried-and-true pets. “When you think of a ‘dependable pet,’ you should not think 'perfect.' What's not to love about them? Whether you want a calm, easygoing pet or a protective companion, these devoted dogs are among the most trustworthy and family-friendly dogs available today. Check them all out below and know that these pups will always have your back.

7 Dependable Dog Breeds

From well-behaved family dogs to highly trainable working breeds, these seven dogs have proven over generations to be reliable companions. Each breed combines a steady temperament, intelligence and affectionate nature, making them ideal for households with children, seniors, or first-time dog owners.

What's the most dependable dog breed? Many experts will tell you the answer is a Lab. Few breeds exemplify dependability quite like the Labrador Retriever, and much of that reliability traces back to purpose-driven breeding. Originally developed to work closely with hunters, these confident dogs will be your rock as they are valued for steadiness, resilience and an eagerness to cooperate in busy environments.

Smith says partnership is built into the Labrador Retriever’s history, which explains why so many people consider them to be man's best friend. “They were designed to work closely with people,” she explains. “Labradors were bred to retrieve alongside hunters, staying steady around noise, movement and activity.”

That steady foundation still shows today as Labs tend to recover quickly from stress and adapt easily to family life. “These loyal dogs are more forgiving of human mistakes than others,” Smith says. “They can be delightfully goofy, but that softness and stability is part of what makes them feel so dependable for many families.”

If you want a loyal dog that will do anything for you, a German Shepherd may be for you! They were also shaped by generations of structured, cooperative work that ranged from herding to protection roles. Careful breeding centered on focus, courage and responsiveness, which is why this breed is often chosen for police, rescue or military work. “A well-bred German Shepherd is deeply handler-focused and quick to learn,” Smith says. “They tend to communicate clearly and bond intensely with their people.”

Unlike the easygoing Labrador, the German Shepherd’s dependability links back to the precision they were bred for. Smith explains they’re more fine tuned as well. “They thrive with clarity and engagement,” she says. “In the right home, that sensitivity becomes impressive reliability.”

Poodles may be associated with show rings, but this dependable breed is more than just a pretty pup. In fact, they were once known for water retrieval, thanks to their intelligence and athleticism. “Like German Shepherds, they process things quickly and can learn complex tasks with ease,” Smith explains. “But a bored Poodle will find something to do, and you might not love the project they choose as their brains need direction.”

Though with structure and consistent expectations, over the years Poodles have become remarkably well-behaved pets. In fact, their steady temperament, eagerness to please, and strong human-dog bond makes them one of the best reliable dog breeds for active families. Poodles prove time and again that they are far more than a fancy haircut—they are a devoted best friend.

Super Rare ‘Isabella’ German Shepherd Has the Coolest Hints of Lavender in His Fur

Sat, 03/07/2026 - 4:00pm

I have, and have always had, very standard-looking pets. I don't mind that at all; all pets deserve loving homes, and I just so happen to fall in love with the basic ones. However, when other people have stand-out pets, I'm right there, ready to gawk at them!

Take this German Shepherd, for instance: I'm in love. He's an Isabella German Shepherd. Absolutely stunning, and he even has some hints of purple in his fur:

Pablo Escobarks (best name ever, by the way) is a very, very handsome boy. In this video, he's playing with a coffee toy outside. I thought he might be at least part Husky at first, but he isn't. He's an Isabella German Shepherd.

The sunlight helps make all of his fur colors a little easier to see: he's got a little ginger around his head. It transitions into a slightly darker grey/purple-ish color down his back... And none of that is even taking into account his gorgeous blue eyes.

Pablo Is a Puppy

Even though he's a rare, beautiful German Shepherd, Pablo is still a German Shepherd puppy. He's rambunctious, hilarious, and playful, which are all things German Shepherd puppies are known for. He doesn't let his pretty fur hold him back: he loves getting dirty!

Now that he's getting a little older, he has better self-control. That doesn't mean he never gets dirty; he's just more thoughtful about it now, which is hilarious. The fur around his head has really lightened up with age, too!

More About Isabella German Shepherds

Isabella German shepherds are the result of a rare genetic mutation. It causes pigment dilution, and as a result, Isabella German Shepherd puppies are born in varying shades of:

  • Beige
  • Lavender/Lilac
  • Grey

These dogs also typically have light grey/blue eyes, adding to their angelic appearance. They really do almost look like Huskies!

Isabella German Shepherds are very rare. They can be bred, but it's difficult; their coloring is the result of recessive genes. One wrong pairing could muddle the color for generations, and extensive genetic testing is needed to ensure they've got it right.

As a result, these pups are more expensive than your typical German Shepherd. They're also the subject of a lot of scams, so always ask for paperwork/test results, and research any breeder you're considering.

Pablo is a perfectly happy, healthy, handsome boy. His mom couldn't ask for more!
