Luckily for this mail carrier, Goldens are far friendlier than turkeys are to UPS delivery men, but that shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone who's had experience with this affable breed. Golden Retrievers are basically the emotional support friend of the dog world — and that reputation isn’t just internet lore. But this one got more than 6 million views. The reason? Well, you can see she uses some unique ingredients in this one.

We see Kowalski preparing the meal and talking about the ingredients as she films it. We cannot see the dog’s reaction until the very end, when what looks like a rescue dog goes nuts for the bowl.

But let’s take a look at the ingredients, including raw whole quail eggs, blue spirulina, decaf green tea and a dehydrated chicken foot. Are they your everyday ingredients? Of course not!

The video is controversial in many ways, but looking at the ingredients, people rightfully so noticed that these are all premium ingredients that most dog parents cannot afford.

In the last few years, we’ve gone from quinoa-era humans to modern pet parents, and this dish raises some eyebrows.

Some of the comments on the luxury aspect of the dish included “this looks like its more expensive than what a human eats in 2 weeks” and “How dogs managed to survive for hundreds of thousands of years without blue spirulina and decaf green tea is a mystery for the ages.”

Others said this dog is living a life that's almost like a human's. Some comments included “This dog got a whole 401k, dental, medical, pto, and sick hours,” and “This dog eating better than half of the people on this planet.”

In an era where food is more expensive than ever and people are working hard to put food on the table, spoiling pets this much can be seen as controversial.

Most of the commenters talked about how expensive this dish is—let’s try to provide an estimated breakdown.

First, we have three raw whole quail eggs, which cost around $0.50 to $1 each. That means we may already have $3 toward this meal.

Next, we have pet-grade blue spirulina powder, which can be pricey, and for a sprinkle on a meal, it can cost up to $2.

A serving of plain Greek yogurt can cost up to $2, depending on the brand.

The premium ingredient here is the dehydrated chicken foot, which sells for between $3 and $6 in stores.

Now let’s take a look at the main ingredient: the air-dried beef recipe. Often, that food cost between $10 and $15 for a small bag, which means it is a few dollars per serving. Add in a dollar for the decaffeinated green tea, and you're near $20 for a single meal. That is easily far above a standard commercial dog meal.

In the past several years, it seems like everyone is a dog nutritionist. The meal is labeled as a healthy homemade dinner, but exactly how healthy is it?

According to studies, blue spirulina can support immune and gut function at controlled levels. In a proper dosage, blue spirulina is fine, but overdosing can cause mild digestive upset.

Quail eggs are rich in protein, but eating them raw carries a well-documented risk of salmonella infection. Many vets recommend cooking eggs to reduce this risk.

Plain and unsweetened Greek yogurt is safe for most dogs in moderation and provides beneficial probiotics.

But we have to talk about the decaf green tea. While the decaf label says it doesn’t contain caffeine, there are still traces of it. Yes, the emphasis is on trace. In most cases, if the amount doesn’t cross the threshold, it doesn’t mean anything in terms of toxicity. But would you take that risk?

Commenters had a lot to say, from imagining the contents of the pup’s thought bubble to gushing over the high adorable factor of the video.

If you’ve been around a Maltese, you know the breed is highly intelligent and known for being a social butterfly that relies on different pitches, tones and styles of communication with the intention of being understood.

Bringing a new baby home is an adjustment for everyone who lives under your roof — humans, dogs, and any other living things. It's not just that Beau loves his baby sister (which he clearly does), but also that it's instinctual of him to be protective of such a tiny member of his family.

According to the American Kennel Club (AKC) as a breed, Mastiffs are known for being unflinchingly loyal, and those protective instincts are only made more effective by the fact that they are such large and intimidating dogs... even though, if you've ever met one, you know that Mastiffs are actually big softies.

My dogs are always on the hunt for food. They can be brazen in their attempts to steal any morsel left unattended. Neither my Dachshund nor my Pug mix even try to hide their blatant thievery. When they see or smell any food item that's attainable, nothing gets in the way of achieving their goal.

Ritchie the Great Pyrenees takes a different approach when it comes to a good snack heist. Despite his massive size, he tries to act casual and go unnoticed to make the grab.

In the TikTok from @ritchithepyr, the gentle giant was at the park enjoying some nice weather outdoors. He was standing behind a young woman who had her back to him, and her purse lying on the ground unattended. Ritchie saw this as an opportunity.

"Ritchie's trying to sneak into the girl's bag," the onscreen text explained. "She was eating chips, and Ritchie was swimming in the lake."

The sight and aroma of the chips prompted Ritchie to hatch a quick plan. He nonchalantly stood nearby to survey his target.

"As soon as she put the chips in her bag, Ritchie naturally chose that exact spot to stand," the story continued as Ritchie discreetly bent down to sniff the purse, trying determine their exact location. Then he looked around to make sure no one was watching, especially his mom. "Check him making sure I'm not looking."'

The Great Pyrenees completely played it cool even as more people came nearby, while monitoring his mom's whereabouts so he wouldn't be reprimanded. A man close to Ritchie caught on to the canine cutie's plan and found it amusing.

"Notice the guy behind Ritchie understand the situation," the text read, as the man had a good laugh. Still, the precious pooch didn't seem deterred from his objective.

Followers didn't find any fault with Ritchie's behavior and got a kick out of his determination.

"He’s just making sure no one else takes her chips while she plays with her dog. What a good boy," one pointed out.

If you’ve been on social media lately (no shame), your feed has likely been filled with heartwarming videos of rescue animals getting to choose which human they want to go home with. The videos usually feature a silent room full of people sitting in anticipation as a rescue dog paces through the rows of chairs before finally jumping into the arms of its new companion. Tears are shed, applause breaks out, but most of those social media videos are created with AI and are completely fake.

The Animal Care Centers of NYC, also known as NYCACC, decided to recreate the AI dog adoption trend — except make it real. They recreated the scenario, but in their social media video, the tearful scene is completely authentic. In the video, which NYCACC shared to its own social media, loving pet adoption hopefuls calmly wait while the dogs sniff around the room and, just like in the AI videos, choose the family who gets to adopt them.

Happy humans are later seen taking their first family photos with their new furry friends.

“We saw an AI video of shelter dogs picking their person… so we made it real. Even a New York City blizzard couldn’t keep the good humans of NYCACC from finding these sweet pups new homes.

They write:

“A blizzard couldn’t stop the event from happening. Multiple pups went home, and even more soaked up the spotlight.”

AI can do a lot, but it can’t replicate the sweet kisses of a dog or the sound of a dog greeting you at the door after a long day at work.

It has to be hard to be a big dog sometimes. It's pretty obvious but still worth stating: As a breed, Saint Bernards are big dogs. They're as gentle as they can be, and they're very friendly and affectionate pets... but sometimes, they do have a "bull in a china shop" way about them.

So while it's totally possible to have a happy Saint Bernard in a smaller living space, you and your dog will both be happier with a bit more room (and plenty of clear paths free of things they could crash into).

One dog trainer recommends that these dogs live in homes that also have a yard, preferably a large one. And if you have a Saint Bernard in a warmer climate, you'll want to make sure that yard includes some shade and that you're offering them water, because they do tend to overheat pretty quicky.

And for everyone's health and happiness, it's key to make sure they're getting enough exercise, which should include a 30-60 minute walk each day.

Dachshunds live between 12 and 16 years, with some (like our girl, Daisy) beating that with ease. The best part is that many of these pups remain active and healthy nearly the whole time, giving pet parents a real gift.

The longest-living Dachshund ever recorded, Rocky, made it to an impressive 25 years before passing in 2011, giving all of us hope that our beloved dogs can, too.

Cleo is sitting in her favorite place, right in the middle of the floor, and being the "unbothered queen" she is, there is no fear of the vacuum coming straight for her. She's not just not going to move, but she doesn't give any indication that she even cares that this loud, moving thing is in the room with her. The vacuum grazes her back, runs right behind her down the body, and she doesn't even turn her head to give it a look to make sure it's not going to run her over. Cleo might be the sweetest little cat we've ever seen, and the fact that she can't seem to be bothered by anything makes her even more charming. 

According to Hill's Pet, Persian cats like to chill out in the sun but can have big bursts of energy that can be very "kitten-like." And those bursts can happen out of nowhere, which makes living with them very interesting.

English Setters are known for being gentle, affectionate, and extremely people-oriented dogs. The video shows her opening the door as she’s done countless times before. Waiting patiently outside is her pointy-beaked regular. The moment the door swings open, he confidently strolls in like he has a standing reservation.

His webbed feet make the cutest little sticking sounds against the hardwood floor as he waddles toward a plate of salmon placed on the ground.

Then, with no hesitation, he devours the salmon chunks in about five seconds flat. And on this particular morning, he immediately pivots and heads right back out the door. She captioned the clip, “bro meant business today 😳.”

Apparently, that’s not always the case. In other videos, he lingers after breakfast, casually exploring her home and hanging out for a bit before leaving. But not that day. That day was strictly about the salmon. 

When asked in an Instagram video whether he’s a pet, she clarified: “He lives free and only shows up for breakfast 😌.”

It’s not every day you see a woman and a wild seagull maintaining a seven-year-long breakfast date—and the internet can’t seem to get enough of it.

Over time, repeated positive experiences can make a bird more comfortable returning to the same person and place. That consistency—showing up for seven years—suggests familiarity and trust, even if it’s rooted in a reliable meal schedule.

In the TikTok from @zarathepit, the pretty Pittie was glued to Grandma's lap after being told it was time to leave.

The fur baby wouldn't budge from her grandmother's side as her mom tried to get her moving toward the door.

Zara's grandmother was conveniently on the phone during the interaction and decided to stay out of the debate, though she didn't seem to be in any rush to remove Zara from her lap.

Golden Retrievers are sensitive dogs who excel at reading their humans. This particular trait makes them absolutely amazing therapy dogs, but it also means they've figured out which facial expressions will get you to bend to their will.

Because they are so naturally friendly and gentle, they'll never demand food aggressively. They might not be the traditional begging sort, but they've certainly perfected the art of the guilt trip. The subtle glance. The barely-there acknowledgment that food exists and they, tragically, are not currently eating any of it.

Honestly, I get it. My dog Lola is a smaller breed too, but she lives for being outside and telling everyone what to do. She is part Heeler, so her size does not limit her at all. Just like these little tanks, she believes enthusiasm can solve almost anything.

Buddy is such a good reminder that little dogs are never just little. They are opinionated, committed, and often convinced they are running the whole expedition. And when they decide the hike must continue, you are either moving forward or getting yelled at on a mountain.

For a dog like Buddy and Bear, the best hiking routine is one that matches enthusiasm with common sense.
