Maine Coon Kittens Go From Tiny Fluff Balls to Regal Giants in Just 6 Weeks

Tue, 02/24/2026 - 6:33am

There’s no denying that Maine Coons have a beauty all their own. Even as tiny kittens, these fluffy felines carry a quiet elegance that hints at what they will become. It doesn’t take long for these big cats to grow into the majestic giants the breed is known for.

That transformation is on full display in a beautiful litter shared by @mossycottagemainecoons. At four weeks old, their sleepy faces and tousled fur are almost too sweet to resist. Six weeks later, the change is remarkable, and somehow they are even more charming.

Check out the stunning glow-up in this TikTok shared on February 13:

Those tiny babies are enough to melt anyone’s heart. Their features have begun to lengthen, their coats are growing fuller, and their bright eyes stand out even more. From the dramatic contrast of the Black Smoke and Ginger Kittens, whose blue eyes pop against their silky fur, to the striped Tabby and the soft gray siblings, each one seems to grow more striking by the day.

Beyond their good looks, one of the most noticeable traits is how relaxed these kittens appear. Draped in mom’s hand and resting without a worry, they radiate calm confidence. If ever there were ambassadors for this beautiful breed, these ultra-relaxed little ones might be it.

Another standout look appears in a February 19 TikTok, where a lookalike kitten’s unique markings closely mirror her stunning mom:

The Cottage has welcomed many beautiful babies… but something about Momma Koi’s “mini me” feels a little extra….. magical. 🥹🌱✨ #mainecoonkitten #mainecooncat #tortoiseshellcat #oceaneyes #beautifulcreature

Maine Coon kittens undergo rapid physical changes in their first months of life. The breed is known for its long, luxurious coat, large, expressive eyes, and distinctive ear tufts, often called lynx tips. These features become more pronounced as kittens grow, giving them the regal appearance the breed is famous for.

According to the International Cat Association, Maine Coons are also recognized for their gentle, social temperament. Their calm, easygoing nature makes them popular family companions and helps explain why even young kittens can seem unusually relaxed.

Seeing these kittens grow is a reminder of how quickly time passes and how dramatically these gentle giants develop. From sleepy bundles of fluff to striking young cats, their glow-ups are part of the magic that keeps Maine Coon lovers completely enchanted.

Sweet Bulldog Being Mom's Source of Emotional Support Is Giving People the Feels

Tue, 02/24/2026 - 6:21am

Some people have therapists. Some people have yoga. This woman has Raymond the English Bulldog, and to be honest? That might be the best coping mechanism of all.

There's a TikTok going viral with the caption, "Me after any minor stress / inconvenience in life," and it shows exactly what that looks like. Mom sitting with Raymond, getting absolutely smothered in bulldog cuddles. Raymond has mom wrapped gently, but firmly, in his arms, head tucked in close, being the most devoted emotional support animal we never knew that we all need.

The text says it all, "Just a girl and her emotional support bulldog" and yeah, if you know, that's an entire vibe.

@raymondthebulldog

♬ When the Clouds Cleared - Alexander Motovilov

People in the comments are feeling it. "His arms around you 🥰😍" captured what everyone's noticing—Raymond is literally hugging her.

Raymond's mom responded: "We take cuddles seriously." Clearly.

Another person said what every bulldog owner knows to be true: "Best medicine ever 🥰❤️"

One commenter shared something deeper: "My girl Polly is also my go-to. She saved me and brought me back from a dark moment of my life. She is very special."

That's what dogs do. They show up when things are difficult. They don't ask questions. They just press their whole body against you and refuse to leave your side until they know that you feel better.

Hot take as over a decade as a bulldog owner? Humans don't deserve the loyalty, devotion and unconditional love that bulldogs give. But if we're lucky enough to have it, we should soak in every single moment of that bulldog goodness.

Do English Bulldogs Actually Enjoy Giving Hugs and Cuddles?

Here's the truth about dogs and hugging—most experts say dogs don't naturally love being hugged. It's not how they normally communicate affection. Dogs don't have arms built to embrace things. Hugging is kind of a weird human concept they endure for us.

But here's the truth of the matter: every dog, like every human, is different. Some bulldogs will absolutely hate being hugged. But others, like Raymond? They're all about those hugs.

Dogs show their affection in different ways than we do. When they're really bonded with someone, they might lean into you, put a paw on you, or do what Raymond's doing—press their whole body weight against yours and refuse to move.

🐶SIGN UP to get “pawsitivity” delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾🐾

You can tell if your dog likes warm hugs by simply watching their body language. A relaxed dog will have a loose, calm expression. Perhaps, they might pant gently. There are signs that they are not in distress. They'll lean in or lick your face. Their tail will wag in that full-body way that says "this is great."

A dog that hates hugs? Look for a tense face, closed mouth and ears back. Another sign they're not having a good time, trying to escape.

Raymond's clearly in the first category. He's gently embracing his human, tucking in close, and making himself comfortable. That's a dog who's chosen this life.

Bulldogs especially seem to love physical contact with their people. They're companion dogs through and through. Being close to their humans is what they are made for.

So when minor stress hits and you need your emotional support bulldog? Raymond's already there. Arms out. Ready to cuddle. Taking his job very seriously.

Best medicine ever.

Shelter Terrier Mix Who Carries Her Stuffie Everywhere Is Giving 'Punch the Monkey' Vibes

Tue, 02/24/2026 - 6:20am

Of the millions of shelter dogs looking for homes, only a fraction ever get their happy ending. As someone who worked in a shelter, I know firsthand that there are way too many incredible pups who end up there, often through no fault of their own. As heartbreaking as this reality is, I'm always happy to shine a light on some amazing canines ready to steal your heart—especially when they're channeling viral sensation (and my favorite) Punch the monkey!

Amelia is a Terrier mix spending her time in a Connecticut shelter, waiting for a family. To keep her company, she comes equipped with an adorable stuffie just like Punch (who I haven't stopped crying or thinking about).

@psar_rachael

I finally stopped crying about Punch the monkey, and then I get to work and Amelia is showing off her blue monkey every time someone visits her kennel. Amelia is a 4 month old, terrier mix who loves everyone she meets. #terrier #pawsafeanimalrescue #terriermix #adopt #amelia

♬ Tenderness - Elia Lo Monaco

Sweet Amelia's excitement over any visitor, like Paw Safe staff member Rachael, is enough to make my heart burst wide open. This little lady, who's only 4 months old, comes with a blue stuffed monkey to keep her company. She loves showing off her prized possession, who's becomes her best, most reliable friend, but I'm sure that also like Punch, she'd much rather have a real friend to hold her tight.

Who Is Punch the Monkey?

If you're not one of the millions obsessed (read: still sobbing) with the precious 7-month-old Macaque Monkey in the Ichikawa City Zoo in Japan, @nbcla has your back.

After being rejected by his mother, Punch joined the zoo's troop of monkeys, who didn't exactly welcome him with open arms. To self-soothe, he finds comfort and acceptance in his stuffed monkey—much like Amelia—and he's breaking all of our hearts with it.

Though zoo officials said it's part of normal socialization, the rest of us really want to give little Punch a hug—and those other monkeys a good talking to!

@nbcla

Punch, a 7-month-old Japanese macaque at Ichikawa City Zoo, has captured hearts worldwide after viral videos showed him clinging to a stuffed toy while integrating with other monkeys. The zoo says the behavior is part of normal socialization despite global concern. #nbcla

In newer videos that have surfaced, Punch seems to have made a monkey bodyguard friend who's protecting him. I know I'm not alone when I say I'll be holding my breath (through tears) until I know Punch is going to be OK!

In the meantime, his stuffie never lets him down, and Amelia, the Terrier mix, can probably relate.

How To Adopt Amelia and Her Stuffie

While we can't do much for sweet Punch, we can for Amelia! This angel, who loves everyone she meets, is friendly, happy, and full of energy. Her Paw Safe adoption page notes she likes to "play, explore, and soak up attention from her people."

This dog-friendly gal is microchipped and spayed, ready to trade her stuffie for a family. For more information on how to adopt Amelia, contact Paw Safe today!

7 Cute Ways Your German Shepherd Protects and Loves You

Tue, 02/24/2026 - 6:10am

German Shepherds are naturally loyal, intelligent and protective, making them one of the most devoted dog breeds you can own. For many pet parents, recognizing the subtle and not-so-subtle signs your German Shepherd protects you is key to understanding them and strengthening your overall bond. However, some dog body language cues that are protective behaviors can be tricky to catch if you aren't sure what to look for. To help you undertstand your dog better, we rounded up 7 signs your German Sheperd consideres protecting you their full-time job. That way, you can know which actions are healthy and when your dog goes too far.

Bridget Murphy, the co-founder and CEO of KoruK9.com and LunaDogAI.com, points out that German Shepherds are "hardwired genetically" to work. So, you may naturally notice signs that your GSD watches over you like they're your bodyguard and you are the center of their universe. "German Shepherds were developed to be a working dog," Murphy explains. "They were originally bred for herding, then for military and police work. They were bred to think, assess and make decisions. Because of this, they are incredibly smart, and their genetic predisposition makes the breed feel so intuitive and protective of their people."

To learn more about how German Sheperds protect you and show you they love you, keep reading. You may be surprised by some of the subtle signs included in our roundup that you hadn't noticed before.

7 Ways Your German Shepherd Shows They Protect You A German Shepherd who loves protecting its owner.

How can you tell if your dog loves you? Well, German Shepherds are naturally loyal, guard dogs, and they show their devotion through behaviors that signal they’re keeping you safe. "In many ways, that instinct and drive are part of what makes them incredible," Murphy shares. "A true protection dog will have the proper balance of temperament, nerves and drive to do protection work. True protection is calm, stable and handler-led."

Scroll down for expert insights on the signs your German Shepherd considers guarding you their duty—and learn which dog behaviors are normal versus ones that may require training attention.

1. Dog park check-ins

German Shepherds are natural-born protectors and they communicate their dog loyalty by keeping an eye on you. Even during the playdate, a protective German Shepherd will often circle back to check in and make sure everything is okay. "If you are at the dog park and your GSD scans and then looks back at you, that isn’t being clingy," Murphy emphasizes. "They are engaged with you."

Make sure you watch their body language, though. "If they can play, relax and reconnect easily, that’s healthy," Murphy adds. "If they’re tense and constantly monitoring everything, that’s stress, not protection."

2. Standing between you and the door

Sometimes a German Shepherd will place themselves between you and an object—whether it’s a guest, a squirrel, or even a blowing leaf. This is a common sign your watchdog companion considers protecting you their full-time job, but it can escalate if not managed properly. "If they refuse to yield space or escalate at guests, that’s a training issue that will escalate if not taken care of, not something to glorify," Murphy shares.

Yet, when a protective dog understands when to stand down, this behavior is healthy and expected. "If they do this calmly, and in a quiet and controlled manner, then you can calmly say 'thank you' and tell them to go to their place," Murphy says. "Let your dog know that they are off 'the job' and that you have your guests taken care of."

3. Perky ears

Want to know if your German Shepherd is in protetcive mode? One way to know is to watch for this German Shepherd behavior. Why? Murphy shares that a dog's ears are their internal radar. Unsurprisingly, a GSD's ears will perk up at the sound of a noise.

"The key here is when they notice, they may alert, and then they calm back down," Murphy clarifies. "If they hear something and escalate or stay in that escalated state of mind, that is when you know it has gone too far."

Related: 7 Ways Your Dog Shows Devotion and Love That You Might Not Notice

4. Barking or growling

This protective dog signs isn't always cause for alarm. Alert barks can be a normal sign your dog is watching out for you. "An alert bark at the door? Normal," Murphy states. "Sustained barking, growling at neutral situations or guarding you from harmless interactions? That’s a dog who feels responsible for security, and likely one that is nervous or stressed because of it."

Murphy emphasizes that the goal of training a guarddog isn’t to suppress natural instincts or breed traits. "It’s to teach them they don’t need to be in that position, that you are there to protect them," Murphy says. "We want to teach your dog what to do with the instincts that it has, and do so in a way that helps to strengthen your bond and relationship with your GSD."

5. Leaning against you

One of the most heartwarming signs your German Shepherd is protecting you is when they lean against you, physically anchoring themselves for comfort and connection. "The lean is my favorite," Murphy shares. "Many Shepherds will physically anchor to their person. It’s grounding and bonding. All of my Shepherds have done the lean. In fact, one in particular used to really lean in and step on my feet. It’s just the best."

So the next time you notice this dog behavior, know it is more than adorable—it’s a clear signal of a loyal that a guardian dog will do because they want to stay close to you while staying connected. Understanding these dog body language cues over time will help you strengthen your bond with your devoted dog and recognize just how deeply your German Shepherd cares. In fact, to them you are their favorite person.

6. Shadowing

Murphy shares that GSDs commonly engage in Velcro-like behavior by closely shadowing their owners and following their humans around. This is a common sign your dog is protecting you and demonstrates the strong bond between a loyal German Shepherd and their human. "They bond deeply," she says. "A lot of Shepherds like knowing where you are. But always remember: they can do this, but they also need to be able to settle down on their own."

7. Stiff bodies in stressful situations

German Shepherds often show tension through their bodies, and this is one of the most overlooked signs your dog considers guarding you their full-time job. Noticing these cues early can help you guide your loyal dog before stress escalates. "This is your cue that something is up, and you need to act rather than letting your dog do it for you," Murphy shares. "Stiffness, a tight mouth, a hard stare and a frozen posture are the first steps before escalation to a trigger."

Murphy explains that these reactions are completely natural for loyal dogs, but Murphy emphasizes that the duration and recovery time from a trigger are just as important. "If they alert, then listen to you and remain responsive to you, that’s perfect," she says. "If they alert and then keep escalating, that is when you have a training problem that you need to address."

Paying attention to these dog body language cues ensures your German Shepherd can protect safely without unnecessary stress, which helps them stay calm, confident and responsive to you.

Signs Your GSD Is Overprotective and Needs Guidance

Murphy shares that there's a difference between healthy and problematic protective traits and behaviors in German Shepherds. "A well-bred, well-trained Shepherd notices things and then looks to you for guidance," Murphy adds. "A fearful, stressed or untrained Shepherd feels like they have to handle everything themselves."

Murphy describes healthy protection as calm awareness and calculated, not impulsive. "Dogs will notice things, they may alert, but they will defer to you for direction and guidance," Murphy says. "It’s important to note that GSDs need to be trained. Training is not optional with dogs like this."

Murphy notes that some behaviors in a German Shepherd go beyond normal protective instincts and signal the need for training and guidance. Red flags include:

  • Guarding you from guests using growling or ignoring your commands
  • Quickly escalating perceived threats from a 1 to 10
  • Difficulty disengaging from a trigger, like constant barking

"These are not cute signs that your dog is protecting you," Murphy shares. "These are signs that your dog is stressed, uncomfortable and likely making decisions for themselves that they would rather you make for them. With a powerful breed, that’s when you must bring in a professional trainer." Understanding these overprotective behaviors helps you address them safely, keeping your loyal German Shepherd confident, calm, and well-behaved while maintaining their natural protective instincts.

Pet Parents Say These Budget-Friendly Squeezable Cat Treats From Costco Are a Hit

Tue, 02/24/2026 - 5:55am

If you've ever shaken a treat bag and been met with indifference, you know the struggle: cats are picky. So when pet parents say they've found a lickable treat their felines actually come running for, it's worth paying attention.

Costco shoppers are raving about the Catit Creamy Lickable Cat Treats Mega Mix—a variety pack of squeezable tubes that many say has become a daily ritual in their homes.

Catit Creamy Lickable Cat Treats Mega Mix, $26.99 at Costco Catit Creamy Lickable Cat Treat Mega Mix

Costco

The mega mix includes 72 single-serve 15-gram tubes in four flavors:

  • 18 Chicken & Liver
  • 18 Salmon
  • 18 Tuna
  • 18 Chicken & Shrimp

This treat can be served directly from the package (like a cat Go-Gurt, if you will), squeezed onto a dish or used as a cat food topper. Most flavors contain just 4.6 calories per tube (the Chicken & Shrimp one contains 6.5 calories), making them a relatively low-calorie option.

The treats are high in protein, rich in amino acids and contain added taurine, an essential nutrient for feline health. The recipes are made with just a handful of simple ingredients and are free from by-products, artificial flavors, preservatives and grains. And with moisture levels around 90 percent, they provide a small but helpful hydration boost.

Cat Parents Say Their Cats Go Wild for Them

With 4.8 stars and over 1,800 reviews, cat parents have rave reviews about this creamy treat.

One pet parent wrote in a review on the product page, "My cat requires me to give him one every evening. If I forget, he taps my shoulder and looks up at the counter where they are!"

Several reviewers described a noticeable change in their cats' enthusiasm at treat time. One said their cats used to lose interest when treats came out, but now "they line up the moment they hear the box open." Another wrote that all five of their cats happily eat all four flavors, and even nip at the tube if it's not squeezed quickly enough. One cat even gets so excited that it makes the hair on their spine stand up!

One especially touching review came from a pet parent with a 19-year-old cat with kidney issues who had lost interest in food. "When offered this creamy, lickable treat, he often eats it all. It's got vitamins, too. His skin got better, and some hair grew in," the reviewer shared.

Several reviewers also mentioned how useful the treats have been for giving medication, whether by hiding a pill or liquid medication in the creamy mixture or using them as a reward after administering meds.

A Budget-Friendly Crowd-Pleaser

With 72 tubes in one box, many Costco shoppers say the mega pack makes it easier to keep these on hand without constantly having to restock. And compared to some other popular squeezable cat treat brands, the bulk pricing can make these a more wallet-friendly option, especially for multi-cat households.

Of course, like any treat, these should be offered in moderation. Veterinarians generally recommend that treats make up no more than 10 percent of a cat's daily diet. That said, if you've been struggling to find a treat your feline gets really excited about, this creamy option could be a game changer.

Mom Asks Her Bulldog to 'Sing' and Her Immediate Response Is Pure Comedy Gold

Tue, 02/24/2026 - 5:17am

You know how some dogs do tricks? Sit, down, roll over— the basics. Well, Miss Beverly Beef the English Bulldog has a different talent. She sings on command. And it's absolutely and ridiculously cute in the best possible way.

There's a TikTok where Beverly's mom says one single word—"sing"—and immediately, Miss Beverly tilts her bulldog head back and lets out the most dramatically adorable howl you or I have ever heard. The caption asks, "Have you ever seen a bulldog do this? The head tilt kills me."

Because yeah, the head tilt is everything. Beverly is fully committed to this performance. She's putting her everything into it. This isn't some half-hearted attempt, she's 100% going for it.

@missbeverlybeef

People in the comments had a lot to say about their own bulldogs' vocal abilities. "Mine just likes to talk back, then gets frustrated with me, and barks for five minutes…" wrote someone dealing with a more argumentative bulldog.

"Mine only does this when I leave 😢" shared another person whose bulldog saves the singing for guilt trips.

One commenter brought the musical theater energy: "Sing for me, angel of music," which Phantom of the Opera actually feels appropriate for Miss Beverly's level of drama.

Related: Mom 'Rage Baits' Bulldog With 2 Words—Her Mischievous Response Is Aggressively Adorable

"Such a cute chonky baby," captured her whole vibe perfectly.

Someone related to the emotional weaponizing of bulldog howling: "This is how mine cries when I leave," proving that bulldogs have exactly one volume setting and it's full blast DRAMATIC.

Why Do English Bulldogs Sing and Howl on Command?

So why do bulldogs like Miss Beverly break into 'song' while others do not? It's probably a primal instinct left over from their less domesticated ancestors—wolves.

Howling is how wolves communicate with their pack. For dogs, that can mean a variety of things. Sometimes it's about claiming territory. Sometimes they're howling in response to certain trigger sounds, like sirens or specific music. Other times, like Miss Beverly, they've just learned that howling gets them what they want; attention and treats.

Dogs are very intelligent and fast learners. They figure out which behaviors get which results and keep using the ones that get them the results they want. They are not too proud when it comes to their humans. They have zero shame and all the time in the world. If tilting your head back and howling makes your human laugh and give you praise? You're gonna keep doing exactly that. Who wouldn't?

However, some dogs are just naturally more vocal than others. Bulldogs happen to be a pretty chatty breed. They've got opinions and they're not shy about sharing them—whether that's through talking back, barking, or performing full concerts on command.

🐶SIGN UP to get “pawsitivity” delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾🐾

"Singing" behavior is often triggered by certain pitches or sounds. Some dogs will howl along to their favorite (or least favorite) song, especially if it hits the right notes. Others, like Miss Beverly, have been figured out how to do it on cue.

Training a dog to sing involves rewarding them with treats when they howl, then adding a command word. Eventually they connect "sing" with "tilt head back and make noise" and boom—you've got yourself a 'singing' bulldog.

Miss Beverly's got the routine down. One word from mom and she's ready for her solo. Head tilted, voice projected, full commitment to the part.

8 Signs Your Dog Loves Hanging Out With You

Tue, 02/24/2026 - 5:10am

You and your dog go together like peanut butter and jelly. Because of that, it can feel like something is missing when you're not together. But as much as you love spending quality time with your pooch, it’s hard to know if they feel the same way. Since dogs communicate differently than humans, decoding their affection and behaviors can be tricky. That’s why we rounded up 8 signs your dog loves hanging out with you, according to experts.

So, as a pet parent if you have ever asked yourself, "How do I know my dog loves me?" or "Why does my dog wants to be near me but not touched?" you're not alone. Many pet parents wonder these things, too. Just remember that research suggests that dogs love being around humans at baseline. In fact, one study compared how wolf pups and dog pups reacted to humans and dog puppies were much more likely to be drawn to humans, as well as to make eye contact. “Dog puppies are more attracted to humans, read human gestures more skillfully, and make more eye contact with humans than wolf puppies do,” the researchers concluded.

Because of that, as a dog mom or dad, you’re set up for success from the start. However, since your dog can’t simply tell you they love you, you have to watch their behavior, says Hilary Humm-Beatty, DVM, veterinarian consultant at Embrace Pet Insurance. “Remeber, dogs communicate with their owners through their behavior since they cannot speak to us,” she explains. And while playing, long walks, and backyard goofing off goes a long way, a true human-dog bond takes time to mature, which is why pets are more likely to genuinely enjoy your company the longer you’ve been together. To help you learn about your dog's emotional connection to you, here's what a dog trainer and vet suggest looking for. These expert-backed signs reveal if your pup is just tolerating you or if they truly love being around you.

Recognizing the subtle dog behavior signs of affection can help you understand the depth of your dog-owner bond. While every pup is unique, experts agree that certain types of canine body language are clear indicators of canine affection. By learning these expert-backed signs, you’ll gain a better understanding of how your pet communicates their happiness and proves they truly love hanging out with you.

They Seek Out Proximity

Does your dog like just sitting with you? Even if your living space is small, Askeland says when your dog follows you around and wants to be near you, this is an expert-approved canine sign your dog's behavior is a choice. It's called passive proximity, which is where your pup chooses to nap or flop on the ground near you without needing constant attention and it is one of the strongest signs your dog enjoys your company. According to Askeland, when a dog intentionally chooses to rest in your vicinity, it shows you have a strong dog-owner bond and there's emotional comfort.

They Offer "Kisses"

If your pup walks up to you and licks you, Askland says it's a sign of dog affection that they enjoy being around you. When you couple that behavior with relaxed body language, it is a strong indicator of a healthy dog-owner bond. Your pup is simply giving you a kiss because they love hanging out and want to show their canine affection.

They Do a Full Body Wiggle

That full body wiggle you get when you come home is no accident. It's a sign your dog loves you and being in your company. “When your dog greets you with its full body wiggling from head to toe and a soft, relaxed gaze, this is a sign of affection, pure happiness and love,” Humm-Beatty says. Basically, this enthusiastic canine body language shows that your pup has a strong dog-owner bond and truly loves hanging out with you, viewing your return as the highlight of their day.

They Play with Your Socks

It can feel a little frustrating when your pooch steals your sock yet again, but it’s actually a positive dog behavior sign. you can watch for. “Dogs have an incredibly keen sense of smell,” explains Humm-Beatty. “Dogs can recognize their owners by their scent.” Your scent gives your pup comfort and security, she points out. “Therefore, dogs will play with or snuggle with items that smell like their owner,” Humm-Beatty says.

They ‘Talk’ to You

Not all dogs are big vocalizers, but some will serve up special grumbles or gentle talking, points out Erin Askeland, CPDT-KA, CBCC-KA, Camp Bow Wow's animal health and behavior expert. “These softer sounds are often reserved for people they feel close to,” she says, adding that if you notice your pup doing this, it's ones of the signs your dog enjoys your company and thinks you're the best person in the world to be around.

They Show Their Belly

Want to know if your dog likes you? Sometmes a dog's body language can reveal how a dog feels about a person. In fact, this can be a sign of trust and playfulness, Humm-Beatty says. “A dog’s belly is the most vulnerable, organ-rich part of its body,” she explains. “When a dog is interacting with its owner and rolls onto its back with a relaxed and wiggly body and tail, it is inviting you to approach and give it a good belly rub.”

They Bow

While stretching is common, the play bow is a distinct and meaningful way dogs communcate they love you. When dogs whip this out, Askeland says it’s a “clear sign that they want to hang out and play.” This specific piece of canine body language “shows your dog feels good about engaging with you,” she says. Recognizing this gesture is one of the easiest signs your dog enjoys your company and wants to strengthen your bond through active play.

They Share Their Toys

Those dog toys are prized possessions, making this a big deal and a significant dog behavior sign. “Dogs are pack animals and see their owner as part of their pack,” Humm-Beatty says. “When they bring you a toy, it can be a sign of trust and affection.” Your pooch is demonstrating a high level of canine trust, showing they believe you’ll honor their "treasure" rather than take it away. Choosing to share a favorite item is one of the most heartwarming signs your dog loves hanging out with you.

Scottish Fold Cats Have a Personal Paparazzi and They’ve Fully Accepted It

Mon, 02/23/2026 - 9:55pm

Some cats tolerate attention, while others clearly expect it. They go out of their way to find that love and affection, and demand to be treated like a celebrity, even in their own home. When they grow up surrounded by love and cameras, posing just becomes part of the routine, and they live for it.

This video shows Scottish Fold "grandkittens" unfazed as their grandma takes photo after photo of them just going about their most ordinary day. They sit patiently, completely comfortable in the spotlight, like celebrities who’ve been famous their whole lives. It’s sweet, funny, and incredibly charming.

TikTok user @wallylouiearchie_cats shared a video from February 18 of what happens at their home when grandma comes over to visit. She probably says she's there to visit with her human family members, but she never forgets to shower the cats in the home with all that love and more.

This includes Wally, Louie, and Archie, a trio of Scottish Fold cats who look different from each other, but the paparazzi is there to snap the photos, regardless. We meet an orange Scottish Fold named Archie. His fur is cut in a summer style right now, but he gives off similar vibes to a Persian cat. And we also meet Wally, a Scottish Fold who has gray-and-white fur and is as typical of a Scottish Fold cat as you can get.

Related: Scottish Fold Cat Becomes the Sweetest Big Brother to a Fluffy Persian Kitten

They all probably love it when Grandma comes to visit, because they've got their own personal paparazzi right there in their home snapping photos as if they were true celebrities or royals.

The sibling we don't get to meet in this clip is Louie, a Tuxedo-colored Scottish Fold who loves to cause havoc by eating the fresh flowers on the table. That's probably where he was when Grandma was over snapping photos. Using that time when everyone is distracted to go snag a bit of the rose leaves.

Scottish Fold Cats Have a Sweet Personality

Wally, Louie, and Archie are full of personality, and they're not fazed by all the attention, which makes sense.

According to Highland Titles, Scottish Fold cats are "very friendly and loving" to their humans, and they love to have any and all attention.

These kitties don't like to be left alone, so it's nice that they have each other, but if they end up alone, they can be a little destructive to get the attention they want. The site explains that these cats typically bond with only a few people and pour all their love onto them.

Ragdoll Cat Tries in Vain To Be Athletic and the Results Are Hilarious

Mon, 02/23/2026 - 9:20pm

One gorgeous cat is more supermodel than super nimble.

While Billie, the Ragdoll, is certainly a stunning gal, her lack of athleticism really shows she’s probably spent a lot more time primping in front of the mirror than putting the work in at the gym.

In an adorable clip on TikTok, poor Billie can’t jump onto a fairly low couch to retrieve a ball that’s been tossed. The Ragdoll tries once, then a second time, and finally hoists herself up on her third attempt.

Are Ragdolls Less Athletic Than Other Cats?

Cats are usually so graceful and agile, so what’s going on with Billie?

Ragdolls are generally less athletic, less agile, and more laid-back than other cat breeds, often preferring to stay on the ground rather than climbing or jumping to high places. (As is the case with our friend, Billie.) They are known for being docile, gentle, and sometimes clumsy, though they can still be playful and active for short periods.

Maybe hauling around that big, fluffy coat is hard to do.

And, er, perhaps Billie has some heft under all that fur? It’s so hard to tell because those luxurious locks make her look a lot bigger than she probably is!

Regardless, Billie is just the sweetest thing! Her ice-blue eyes and magnificent coat really give her the look of a goddess! I can see her gracing the cover of next year’s cat calendars across the world.

And while she may be a little clumsy, you can see that she’s up for playing a game of fetch as long as you show a little patience!

Billie’s effort to climb the sofa kind of reminds me of struggling through eighth-grade gym class. No, it wasn’t pretty, but I was able to eventually navigate an obstacle course and not get a failing grade.

Hooray for us, Billie!

Hobby Lobby's Vibrant $5 Pet Essential Will Keep Your Bored Pup Busy for Hours

Mon, 02/23/2026 - 8:55pm

The modern philosophy of pet ownership has shifted dramatically toward cognitive enrichment and emotional well-being. It is no longer enough to simply provide a bowl of kibble and a quick walk around the block; today's dedicated pet parents are looking for ways to engage their pets' natural instincts at home. Dogs and cats alike possess an inherent need to work for their food, a drive that, when left unfulfilled, often manifests as destructive chewing, excessive barking, or general restless anxiety. Incorporating mental stimulation into a daily routine has become the gold standard for raising a well-adjusted, happy companion.

One of the most effective, science-backed methods for calming a high-energy animal is repetitive licking. Biologically, licking releases endorphins in a pet's brain, acting as a natural sedative that helps them self-soothe during stressful events like thunderstorms, fireworks, or grooming sessions. This discovery has led to a surge in "slow-feeding" trends across social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram, where owners share creative ways to freeze yogurts, purees, and peanut butter to keep their pets occupied. The beauty of this approach lies in its simplicity: by turning a thirty-second snack into a twenty-minute activity, you give your pet a profound sense of accomplishment.

To ensure the longevity of this essential accessory, follow a few simple care instructions. While it is incredibly durable during use, you should not microwave the mat, as extreme heat can compromise the integrity of the silicone texture. Maintenance is straightforward and quick; these mats are hand-wash only, which allows you to easily scrub away any leftover residue from the nooks and crannies to keep them hygienic for the next use. It is also important to remember that this item is for pet use only, meaning it should be kept out of reach of children and used strictly as a feeding and enrichment tool for your domestic animals.

Yellow Labrador Puppy Napping in Casserole Dish Will Make Your Day

Mon, 02/23/2026 - 8:20pm

There are so many comfy dog beds available these days.

From Pendleton and Jonathan Adler for Ruggable to Lesure, dog beds are made of the softest and plushiest material, and yet sometimes a pup may be just as comfortable and cozy in a casserole dish (it helps if they fit in it, though).

We saw this in the sweetest video from the account @.gusvaughn, which features a Yellow Labrador puppy named Gus, who has decided to get all cozy in none other than a casserole dish.

His parents wrote in the caption that their kitchen is being renovated, so there are pots and pans scattered around, and this one looked particularly appealing to this pup for a nap.

In the video, the puppy looks so safe and secure in this dish that his dad can't even pry him out of it.

The dog is so comfy, his dad has to take the dish off the shelf and put it in his lap.

One wrote, "The recipe says you're supposed to let the dough rest."

Another said, "Fresh out of the oven: one sleepy, slightly toasted, little fluff-soufflé."

My personal favorite: "Labsagna coming right up."

Why Do Dogs Like To Sleep in Small Spaces?

You may be wondering why a dog would curl up in a casserole dish that he barely fits in.

The answer is instincts.

Though they may seem ridiculous compared to a comfy bed, small spaces provide dogs with a sense of security, as their caves did when they lived in the wild.

They may find a spot like this for safety, warmth, or just for a little bit of quiet time.

So think of Gus's casserole dish as a cave.

'Attacked' Street Dog Gets Second Chance After Rescue and Is 'Softest and Most Gentle Soul'

Mon, 02/23/2026 - 8:10pm

Niall Harbison continues to work miracles with street dogs through his Thailand animal rescue, Happy Doggo. He was recently called in to help a sweet canine, who was severely injured after an attack by a pack of dogs. The animal advocate named her Velvet as a promise of hope for the precious pooch.

View this post on Instagram

In the Instagram video from @wearehappydoggo, Harbison explained how he received a call about a dog in need of immediate medical attention.

"She'd been attacked by a pack of dogs," the onscreen text read as Velvet lay on the ground covered in puncture wounds and whimpering. Harbison was able to gently lift her up and take her to his medical clinic at the Happy Doggo sanctuary.

"We rushed her in... and got her treatment, where she needed over 30 stitches as well as extensive wound cleaning and a very late night for the medical team," the caption from a separate post shared. "We also found she was covered with ticks and fleas that were eating her skin to bits."

Velvet Is on the Mend

Harbison gave her the name of a plush and luxurious material to give her hope for the future.

"Because of how rough and broken her skin was, I called her Velvet," he explained. "Because one day soon, I whispered to her in the truck, her skin will be like velvet."

Velvet received treatment and medication, and is now recovering with Harbison and his team. The Happy Doggo founder already feels protective of the sweet dog and is committed to walking her through the healing process every step of the way.

"She is the softest and most gentle soul you could ever meet," he noted in the caption. "The thought of her getting attacked and shredded really breaks our hearts. But the lovely Velvet is safe now."

Shih-Tzu Screaming To Be Lifted Onto the Bed Sounds Exactly Like a Furious Child

Mon, 02/23/2026 - 7:55pm

I need you to mentally prepare before watching this, because I did not and nearly jumped out of my chair. Bailey is an 11-pound Shih-Tzu standing next to a bed, fully capable of jumping, but instead, he's choosing to unleash a scream so loud and so human-sounding that it triggered my internal emergency alert system. Not a bark. Not a whine. A full “someone just took my iPad away” meltdown.

The first time I played it with the volume up, my husband came rushing into the room, asking where the crazy screaming kid was. There was no kid. Just Bailey. Tiny, fluffy, and absolutely livid with outrage that gravity exists and he must personally overcome it. So yes, turn your volume up… unless you’re at work, in a library, or anywhere that being quiet matters, because this dog will absolutely get you side-eyed by strangers. MOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

@screamingbailey8

11 pounds.

♬ Scheming Weasel - Tsoulfas Panormitis

@screamingbailey8 shared this clip and captioned it: “He could jump” and then simply “11 pounds,” which somehow makes the whole situation funnier. He sounds like a 40-pound toddler who just discovered betrayal. One commenter deadpanned, “Well, at least he doesn’t overreact,” while another translated the noise perfectly as “MOOOOOOOMMMMMM.” Someone else pleaded, “Pick him up for goodness' sake,” which honestly feels like the correct course of action at that point.

Related: Deaf Cat’s Happy Little Noises Are So Unique and Perfect

“I ain’t ever seen a dog scream like that before,” one viewer admitted. Another asked if Bailey was even a Shih-Tzu, which is fair, because the decibel level suggests a much larger, much angrier animal. Shih-Tzus, however, are professional drama queens. My boss, Mary, has one named Tito, and she would absolutely confirm that these dogs come preloaded with zero chill. It's Tito's world; we all just live in it. It's a good thing that Shih-Tzus are pretty adorable little creatures.

Meanwhile, my Maine Coon Meatball doesn’t scream—he just sits directly on my chest at 3 a.m. until I wake up, which is arguably more effective and a lot more painful.

Are Shih-Tzus Really Dramatic? @lovebanditandbruno

Every shih tzu parent will understand this 🤭😓 #shihtzu #shihtzusoftiktok #shihtzupuppy #shihtzulovers #shihtzulove

♬ original sound - Bandit & Bruno | Shih Tzus

Yes. Absolutely, yes. Shih-Tzus were bred to be companion dogs, meaning their entire purpose is interacting with humans, preferably while being adored constantly. When that attention is delayed, denied, or insufficiently enthusiastic, many will escalate quickly.

They’re also famous for the “Shih-Tzu stomp,” where they plant their tiny feet and stomp in protest like a disgruntled little landlord collecting rent. It’s not aggression; it’s their own furry little temper tantrum until they get their way.

If You Thought This Was a Fluke, Think Again @screamingbailey8

Not in danger. Just dramatic.

♬ 鍵穴の外 - yasuhiro soda

In another clip, Bailey delivers a nearly identical scream because he wants to be lifted onto a chair. Not because he can’t. Because he shouldn’t have to. Watching him ramp up from mild grumble to full siren mode is both hilarious and slightly awe-inspiring, like witnessing a fire alarm discover feelings.

The lesson here is clear: If you adopt a Shih-Tzu, you are not getting a quiet roommate. You are getting a tiny, fluffy opera singer with very specific demands and zero shame about expressing them.

Massive Pet Rabbit Who's Bigger Than a Small Dog Has People Doing a Double Take

Mon, 02/23/2026 - 7:20pm

As a seasoned pet parent, I've always had cats and dogs (and one hamster), but never one of what I've deemed "cool" pets, like a rabbit. I didn't even realize that some of these adorable herbivores came in multiple sizes, like small, medium, large, and for one of these bunnies, giant!

LouLou is a Flemish Giant Rabbit, whose sheer size is jaw-dropping. This very big boy gives Bugs Bunny a run for his cartoonish money.

The humongous gray bunny is bigger than small dogs, cats, and in my opinion, human toddlers. He's cuddly soft and a stunning sight for someone like me who never knew something so storybook-like existed. According to Oxbow Animal Health, theGuinness World Records holder, a Continental Giant Rabbit named Darius, grew to be 4'3" and weighed nearly 50 pounds!

How Big Do Flemish Giant Rabbits Get?

Rabbits like LouLou, who are one of the 13 largest rabbit breeds, are known as gentle giants of the domestic pet rabbit world. Typically, they can grow to be upward of 4 feet, weighing 15 to 20 pounds. Much like that of a beloved dog, Flemish Giant Rabbits have an 8- to 10-year lifespan, providing years of devoted companionship.

As an easy-to-train, generally friendly pet, their size may be the first thing you notice, but they have a lot more going on than many realize.

Do Flemish Giant Rabbits Make Good Pets?

These big babies make amazing pets for families with children, thanks to their calm, patient, and docile temperaments. Not all rabbit breeds enjoy being handled much, but these sweethearts are so laid-back and easy breezy, cuddling is in their nature.

Il s’appelle pas “à la moutarde”, il a un prénom quand même 😭 #bunny #rabbits #bunnylove #pet #big

Size may be the first thing you notice, but bunnies like LouLou are also highly social and like plenty of time out of a cage, which makes them the perfect addition to any home looking to add a furry buddy to the mix. And bonus: They can be litter-trained like cats, so cleanup is no big deal.

LouLou made his debut on social media, surprising those like me who never knew about this amazing breed. Now that I've seen one of these gentle giants, I'll never look at bunnies the same way!

Pet Parents Are Obsessed With This Ultra-Plush and Calming Dog Bed at Target

Mon, 02/23/2026 - 6:55pm

Parade Pets aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

The bond between a pet and their owner is often defined by the quiet moments of rest shared in a peaceful home. As we become more tuned into the emotional and physical health of our canine and feline companions, the importance of a dedicated "safe space" has moved to the forefront of modern pet care. Veterinary experts and behaviorists frequently emphasize that high-quality sleep is just as vital for animals as it is for humans, affecting everything from cognitive function to daily stress levels. For large-breed dogs or multi-pet households, finding a resting spot that offers both physical orthopedic support and emotional security is a transformative step toward improving their overall quality of life.

In the world of interior design and pet lifestyle trends, the shift toward "calming" furniture has seen a massive surge in popularity. It isn't just about a soft place to land; it's about the psychological architecture of the bed itself. Many pets suffer from mild separation anxiety or noise phobias, leading them to seek out corners, under-bed hiding spots, or piles of laundry where they can feel enclosed and protected. By providing a structured environment that encourages "nesting," owners can help their pets self-soothe. A well-designed sanctuary uses tactile materials and specific shapes to trigger a sense of safety, allowing even the most anxious animal to drift into a deep, restorative REM cycle.

FurHaven Calming Cuddler Long Fur Donut Dog Bed, $89.99 at Target

Target

If you are looking to provide this level of luxury for your large breed, the FurHaven Calming Cuddler Long Fur Donut Dog Bed is an exceptional choice priced at $89.99. This specific design is a favorite among pet parents because its bolstered donut shape creates a plush, cushy burrowing space that promotes comfort, security, and restful lounging. The architecture of the pet bed cushions pets, making it perfect for dogs and cats that love to nestle and burrow deep into their surroundings. In a beautiful, neutral taupe that complements any home aesthetic, this bed serves as both a functional tool for wellness and a stylish furniture accent.

One of the standout features of this jumbo-sized retreat is its thermal efficiency. The deep, bolstered edges create cozy "pockets" of extra warmth, providing a self-warming effect that is particularly beneficial for senior pets with joint sensitivity or short-haired breeds that struggle to retain body heat. To ensure maximum pillowy softness, the bed is generously stuffed with insulating, high-loft 100 percent polyester fluffy fill that maintains its shape even under the weight of larger dogs. Furthermore, the luxuriously long vegan fur is soft on snouts and paws, providing a tactile experience that mimics the comforting touch of a littermate or mother.

Practicality is never sacrificed for comfort with FurHaven. The brand understands that life with pets can be messy, so they have utilized machine-washable fabrics to make cleanup a breeze. While sizes extra small and small are fully washable, sizes medium, large, and extra large have removable, machine-washable covers, ensuring that your $89.99 investment stays fresh and hygienic for years to come. By choosing a bed that combines high-loft insulation with easy-care features, you ensure your pet's favorite spot remains the cleanest and most comfortable place in the house.

Senior Pomeranian-Yorkie Mix Totally Nails the Perfect 'Moonwalk'

Mon, 02/23/2026 - 6:43pm

If you’ve never seen a dog “moonwalk” Michael Jackson style, today is your lucky day. If it’s been a minute since you cranked up Thriller, the Moonwalk was a dance move perfected by Jackson in which he glided backward across the floor while giving the appearance he was walking forward. A sweet, social media–savvy Pomeranian-Yorkie mix pup named Milo is putting his own spin, pun intended, on the moonwalk and dancing his way into the hearts of viewers who can’t get enough of this adorable furball. In all honesty, neither can we.

In a video captioned “He’s got some moves,” the Pomeranian-Yorkie mix can be seen walking across his human’s wood floors when he comes to an open doorway leading into another room. Rather than bounding into the room facing forward, Milo turns on his heels and backs into the doorway before turning around and carrying on with his completely adorable day.

Why Do Dogs Walk Backwards? @adventuresofpilot

Queue everyone in the comments telling me his harness is on backwards… ready set go🤪 #dogsoftiktok #fyp #goldensoftiktok #goldenretriever #goldenretrieverpuppy

♬ son original - sirinaꫂ᭪݁

Milo’s moves aren’t completely out of left field. There are actually several reasons why dogs walk backward or back into a space. One common reason a dog may walk backward is physical discomfort or a neurological issue. Sometimes, a dog walks backward out of habit. Likewise, a pup walking in reverse could be an early sign of canine cognitive decline.

There’s also another possible explanation: caution. Sometimes, a dog’s moonwalk can be attributed to something as simple as the pup perceiving the surface ahead as slippery and is playing it safe.

We won’t speculate on Milo’s health or age, but this cute canine might simply be trying not to slip on his home’s gorgeous, and likely slick, wood floors. In this case, Milo may be opting to moonwalk rather than unexpectedly ice skate across hardwood.

Either way, Milo’s got moves, and we can’t wait to see more from this dancing dog.

Golden Retriever Going Candle Shopping Like a Scent Sommelier Is Everything

Mon, 02/23/2026 - 6:20pm

Golden Retrievers experience the world nose first, and places filled with interesting smells are basically paradises for them, thanks to their sense of smell. If you want to give them a fun day full of enrichment, take them to places where they can smell new things—they’re happy to be on an important sensory mission.

We see that play out in a video of a Golden Retriever who’s invited to go to a candle store, and while there, he carefully inspects candles one by one, sniffing with the focus of a professional critic. His thoughtful pauses and clear preferences make it feel like he’s rating each scent internally. It’s wholesome, funny, and oddly impressive. Take a look!

@wally.meets.world

Not how I thought that would go but ok 😂 #goldenretriever #dogsoftiktok

♬ New Home - Penguin Piano

On February 18, TikToker @wally.meets.world shared a video of Wally, a stunning and charming Golden Retriever, heading to the store with his family. But they kind of do things their own way.

Instead of Wally walking with his family into the store with his lead, Wally's sitting in the shopping cart, where you might typically see a human toddler.

Wally is out of the cart when his mom tries to find the best candle scent for their home, and the pup really wants to go smell all the options. He's eager to get right to the job. So, each time his mom takes a candle off the shelf, opens the lid, and does a quick sniff herself, Wally is right there, tapping and choosing the best-smelling options, at least according to his nose.

In the comments, hundreds of people shared their thoughts on Wally going out into the world to help his humans find the best candles for their house.

One person wrote, "I love that Marshalls allows me to take my Golden when I’m running errands if it’s super cold out or rainy, we can always walk around Marshalls, TJ Maxx, or The Home Store."

Another shared, "Be very careful! He is in danger of becoming a chandler and producing his own line of dog-specific scented candles."

Someone else added, "I’ve never tested my Pyrenees, but my parents' dog is scared of the smell of candles."

Other comments include, "Why is it cute when he licks candles, and it’s weird if I were to do it?" "Taste test, not sniff test," "He wants to eat all of them," "But like how’d you get him into the cart?" "He's the sweetest lover in that shopping cart," and "Wally is just so loved by all, how can you not love this puppy dog?"

Golden Retrievers Have a Good Sense of Smell

Wally looks like he had a great time going shopping with his mom and used his very good sense of smell to pretend he's a scent sommelier and an expert on which candles smell the best. And his sense of smell is very much a typical trait in Golden Retrievers.

According to Meadow Brook Goldens, Golden Retrievers are well known for their exceptional scent detection abilities. This comes from their genetics and ancestry. As part of the sporting group, they've been helpful to people, using their sense of smell for a range of applications, including detecting drugs, explosives, human remains, and more.

It makes them great service and emotional support dogs, and apparently, it helps people choose the right candle scent for their homes.

Goldendoodle Hopes to Audition After Chance Meeting With 'Night Agent' Star Gabriel Basso

New York and Los Angeles are known for TV and film shoots, so there's a good chance you'll have some celebrity sightings in those cities. Even our fur babies can spot a famous face and get to rub elbows (or paws) with a superstar.

Scotch the Goldendoodle recently had a brush with fame after meeting an actor from a hit Netflix series and already has stars in his eyes.

In the Instagram post from @scotchinnyc, the gorgeous Goldendoodle sat next to Gabriel Basso, star of Netflix's action thriller, The Night Agent. Basso plays former FBI agent Peter Sutherland in the popular spy series.

The actor crouched down alongside Scotch, more than happy to share the spotlight. The two crossed paths in a coffee shop and captured the moment for Scotch's Instagram followers. The fur baby obviously felt a connection with Basso and is lobbying for a part on the show.

"I'm hoping to audition for The Night Agent season 4, cause clearly I can be a great sidekick!" the caption read, with the onscreen text pointing to Scotch's flair for drama. "Who looks more serious?"

Scotch seems to be quite a character on a regular basis, with many of his social media posts showing off his adorable personality. The precious pooch dressed up in a tux for Valentine's Day, wore on-theme glasses when he rang in 2026, and donned a Dory costume of Finding Nemo fame for Halloween. This canine cutie is obviously ready for his on-camera close-up.

Goldendoodles Are Considered Extroverts

This hybrid of Poodle and Golden Retriever is considered a designer breed. Popular with pet lovers of all ages, Goldendoodles have a playful personality and love being the center of attention.

These dogs are very friendly and thrive in social circles. They are easy to train thanks to their high intelligence and compliant demeanor. Goldendoodles often excel at agility, fun tricks, and acts of service.

Scotch hasn't posted any updates yet on upcoming auditions or contract negotiations, but he's clearly got the charisma to grace the big and small screens.
