Cockatoo's Sweet Happiness Over New Custom Outfit Is Too Cute to Resist

Mon, 02/09/2026 - 8:00am

Everyone loves a new outfit, right? There's no better feeling than when you have some fresh new clothes to show off to all of your friends. Our pets can feel this, too; that's why there are so many clothing options for them!

One Cockatoo really lucked out in the wardrobe department. Her mom makes outfits for her and her siblings, and they're really cool. Her new one is custom and very spring-forward:

@alayner11

New outfit day for Abbie! I used scrap fabric to put this one together. It’s very soft, and she seems to love it! You can check us out on Etsy! Abby’s Parrot Boutique! The link is in my bio. Please share with any friends who have a parrot that might need a little extra protection from over preening. #roseberrybirdrescue #rescue #abbiesboutiqueforparrots #parrot #cockatoo

Alayne and Abbie are a match made in heaven. Abbie loves and needs clothes, and Alayne makes them. Abbie and her siblings get new outfits for every season! Their mom even sells them sometimes.

Abbie actually really needs her outfits: she's a feather plucker. As a rescue, she's picked up some pretty severe bad habits. The clothes help:

  • Keep a distance between her and her feathers.
  • Provide a way for fresh wounds to heal and stay clean.
  • Keep her bare chest warm.

She has a sibling (also a Moluccan Cockatoo) who has the same issues. Both of them love their clothes!

Her new mom provides plenty of structure and opportunity for Abbie to thrive, and she does. Unfortunately, she spent so long plucking to self-soothe that she simply continues to do it.

Don't worry, though; her mom is fully aware of that. In addition to the clothes (with a special middle piece to prevent plucking), Abbie receives plenty of wound care and regular vet checkups. Mostly, though, the outfits:

I love it when people put their pets in matching outfits. Even better, Alayne makes a lot of her birds' clothes from scrap fabric. No waste!

Cockatoos Can Love Clothes

Whether a pet likes clothes will always come down strictly to personal preference. Clothing can provide comfort and be a necessary safety measure, but it needs to fit well. Clothing should be:

  1. Not too tight around the neck or chest.
  2. Not covering their bottoms.
  3. Not covering their feet.
  4. Lightweight and breathable.

Ideally, you should start a Cockatoo in clothes when they're young. Since so many are rescues, though, taking it slow and making sure they're comfortable works just as well!

Tiny Bichon Has Such an Epic Nap, Her Entire Face Is Completely Smooshed

Mon, 02/09/2026 - 7:55am

There are naps… and then there are naps that change your whole face structure and give you an entirely new hairstyle.

This tiny senior Bichon named Spicy just achieved legendary snooze status, and when she wakes up, half her little face is completely smooshed, as if she pressed it into another dimension. Her smile is lopsided. Her tongue is slightly out. It is the exact expression you make when the nap hits so hard you forget what year it is.

@spicy.thedog

Smooshed face? Good nap. Smooshed face AND tongue?! Amaaazing nap 🐶 #littledog #bichon

♬ Cena Engraçada e Inusitada - HarmonicoHCO

@spicy.thedog uploaded the precious video to TikTok, and the caption reads, “When your dog wakes up with the half-smoosh face and her tongue hanging out, you know it was a good nap.”

And lissssssen. That is science.

Related: Golden Retriever 'Trying to Figure Out Where He Is' After Long Nap Is All of Us

Spicy blinks awake with one cheek flattened and that dreamy, crooked grin that says she just had the deepest sleep of her life. The comments were immediate. “We love a good smoosh face,” one person wrote. Another added, “I love that face. I wish I could nap like my pup.” Someone else said, “Awww! Such a sweet face! I wish I could sleep like that! I’m exhausted!” One commenter perfectly described it as “the derp face,” which is honestly accurate. Another guessed she was probably dreaming about yummy treats, which feels right.

It's freezing where I live right now, the kind of cold that makes you want to cancel everything and hibernate. All I want to do is curl up under a blanket with our cats and our Pomeranian, Kingston, and fully commit to a face-smooshing nap. Senior dog energy in winter just makes sense. Cozy. Warm. No responsibilities. Just vibes.

Spicy is living the dream, and I respect it.

Senior dogs actually need more sleep than younger dogs. While adult dogs typically sleep around 12 to 14 hours a day, older dogs can easily clock 16 to 18 hours, depending on their health and activity level.

Their bodies are working harder, their joints may be stiffer, and they simply need more recovery time. As long as your senior dog is still eating, interacting, and moving comfortably when awake, those epic naps are usually completely normal.

In Spicy’s case, that smooshed face is just proof she is doing senior dog life exactly right.

Morning Routine of 9 Dachshunds and a Great Dane Is Beautiful Chaos

Mon, 02/09/2026 - 7:20am

If you thought your morning routine was chaotic, you ain't seen nothing yet.

Imagine if you had eight Dachshunds, one Puggle mix named Penny, a Great Dane, and a cat.

Well, that is this creator's reality, and though most of her days are chaotic with that barnyard of animals, their morning routine may take the cake.

Somehow, all these dogs fit into their mom's bed (though there seems to be no room for her anymore), and then it is suddenly time to wake up.

The barking commences!

They all jump out of bed, and then it is a mad dash to the door to head out to the yard.

The Great Dane, whose name is Harley, showed a bit more reserve than the Dachshunds, but once she got outside, she was running and galloping all over.

Of course, after bathroom and exercise, now it is time for the most exciting part of the day: BREAKFAST!

It is pretty amazing to see this army of dogs waiting patiently, sitting in a row as their mom prepares each of their meals in beautiful strawberry-and-orange bowls.

It looks like most of the dogs get kibble and a piece of fish to start the day!

The cat gets her own food in a cat bowl, and one of the Dachshunds, Tubby, who has some urinary issues, also gets a special diet.

Harley gets her meal in one of those big maze bowls.

Now the pups are getting a little less patient and starting to paw at Mom. Don't worry, everyone! Breakfast is coming!

Somehow, after all that, their mom has energy to work out in her garage.

She brings out one of the Dachshunds to sit in a chair in the sun and watch her do squats.

After her session, it is time for the dogs to exercise!

Back out in the yard they go, and this time with a big neon green soccer ball to chase!

Everyone is running and digging holes, and there is even a pool for the Dachshunds to swim in (it is more of a wading pool for Harley).

When they come in at the end, the ball has been deflated, but everyone has gotten some good energy out!

Maybe it will minimize the barking (but probably not).

@yunabugs

Still getting used to the pony’s size over here! 😅

♬ original sound - Onyx Harley, the Great Dane, Has Joined the Family of 9 Dachshunds

The Great Dane, whose name is Harley, is a new addition to the family.

She started as a senior foster dog but has now been adopted by the family after they saw she was so gentle and chill with the little dogs, even the ones who had been afraid of big dogs in the past.

The mom of the nine little dogs talked in another video about how she was a bit concerned if all the dogs would mesh with Harley, but they worked on it, and now she is part of all the chaos!

English Labrador Puppy Makes Hiccup Sound In His Sleep and It's the Sweetest

Mon, 02/09/2026 - 7:10am

My dogs both "talk" in their sleep. Though she's a very sound sleeper, my senior Dachshund sort of whines and even lets out little woofs when she's napping. Her Pug brother makes a whole symphony of noises when he's catching some Zs and even moves his paws, like he's dreaming about chasing something or running away from something (probably a squirrel). Somehow, they both manage to be adorable when they're awake and when they're asleep.

Hank the English Labrador puppy is also quite vocal when he dozes off, though he makes a different sort of sleep sound.

@hanktheenglishlab

Hank loves to bark when he naps! Almost always accompanied by running feet 😂🧐 Drop your guesses on what he’s dreaming about! 👇🏼👇🏼#puppytiktok #puppy #puppylife #fyp #dogsoftiktok

♬ original sound - Hank the English Lab

In the TikTok from @hanktheenglishlab, the precious puppy was sleeping on the couch but was anything but peaceful. Hank was making an adorable noise that sounded exactly like a hiccup. It was kind of a squeal, a little bit of a woof, with a movement that added to the cuteness. The caption called them "barks", but that may be a misclassification.

"Hank loves to bark when he naps! Almost always accompanied by running feet," the caption explained.

With each little sound, Hank's entire body jolted as if he were actually hiccupping. Did he dream about having a big meal followed by indigestion? Or did he swallow too much air while in REM sleep? The possibilities of what prompted the adorable noise were endless.

Followers weighed in on potential dream scenarios that caused Hank's animated vocals and movements.

"Chasing rabbits," one suggested.

"He’s playing as Kirby in a Smash Bros dream," another remarked.

"Dreaming about his next lick mat," someone posted.

Signs Your Dog Is Dreaming

A dog's sleep cycle lasts approximately 20 minutes. Six of those minutes are usually in REM sleep, when dreaming occurs. Signs of this phase include:

  • Closed eyes, but rapidly moving back and forth
  • Rapid, shallow, and irregular breathing
  • Twitching muscles, and legs may be moving
  • Vocal sounds like barking, whining, or crying

Related: Senior Labrador Meets New Puppy Sister and Pure Sweetness Results

Pet parents get tempted to wake up their dog when they observe these signs, assuming their fur baby is having a nightmare. Yet those sounds and movements your pooch is displaying could actually be from a pleasant dream.

The motto "let sleeping dogs lie" is best to follow, since interrupting your pooch's sleep hinders their cognitive abilities and, just like with humans, can make them a bit grumpy.

Hank's little sleep hiccups didn't appear to be a sign of distress, so hopefully his parents let him enjoy his REM phase.

Picky Kitty Only Has Eyes for His Auntie, and His Reaction Is the Best

Mon, 02/09/2026 - 7:00am

TikTok viewers are loving a rescue cat named Cowboy who is very picky about the people he allows into his inner circle. So far, it includes his mom and one other person, her roommate, who has Cowboy jumping for joy every time she comes and goes.

In this video montage, Cowboy enthusiastically bids the roommate farewell as she leaves each day by jumping up to meet her eye-to-eye through the glass door. He also waits patiently for her to return, tracking her every move until she enters the house. Based on her huge smiles, it must feel good to be adored this much by such a frisky and finicky feline.

Cats, as we know, can be notoriously stingy with their affection, but Cowboy has nothing but love for his chosen auntie.

As one viewer attests, "it feels good to be loved by a cat."

"I would feel so elite," agrees another.

Playing Favorites, Feline Style

Like dogs, cats have favorite people. But unlike dogs, who tend to look for a leader, cats favor the person(s) they can trust to provide them with basic needs like food and comfort.

It stands to reason that cats will gravitate toward the people who feed them, whether it be regular meals or occasional treats. Bonding goes beyond food, though. Cats choose the human who gives them positive experiences — playtime, brushing, or whatever they enjoy. Some cats love being held, others prefer personal space, so paying attention matters. If your cat purrs, rubs against you, or sticks close, you’re doing it right.

Personality also plays a role. Cats typically prefer calm, predictable people who move slowly, speak softly, and respect their boundaries. Gentle interaction, interactive toys, and a relaxed vibe go a long way — and before you know it, you may earn that coveted “favorite human” status.

Winning over a cat isn’t about forcing affection — it’s about earning trust. If you want to move up the household rankings, these simple habits make a big difference. Kittens handled gently during their first few weeks tend to bond with people more easily. Older or shy cats can still warm up — it just takes time and consistency.

Daily play, enrichment toys, and gentle chin or ear scratches help release feel-good hormones and strengthen your bond. But respect boundaries: most cats don’t love belly rubs, paw grabs, or being disturbed while sleeping. If they walk away, let them. Ignoring their signals is the fastest way to lose points.

Regular feeding and predictable interaction build trust. To a cat, reliability equals safety — and safety equals favorite human status.

Golden Retriever Wants To Be Dad's Biggest Helper and It's Too Sweet for Words

Mon, 02/09/2026 - 6:55am

One adorable pooch is making it difficult for his pet pappa to get anything done around the house!

In a hilarious clip on TikTok, Spencer, the Golden Retriever, can’t help but keep a loving eye on his pet parent as his dad attempts to assemble furniture.

“You have a Golden Retriever who needs to be involved in everything,” the clip's caption reads. “Dad, are you sure I can’t help?”

A mix between a micromanager and an eager intern, it’s amazing that Spencer’s pop was able to even get all the parts out of the box, let alone begin assembly!

Look at that cuteness! It’s so sweet to watch how intently he “oversees” the job and then jumps onto the worksite to give kisses! Take a look!

No.

But Goldens are so unbelievably sweet and good with people; it would be great to have them around any worksite, so long as their safety remains a top priority.

Southwick’s Majestic Lion Is Completely Mesmerized by the Falling Snow

Mon, 02/09/2026 - 5:50am

Lions are synonymous with sunny skies, warm air, and vast plains. Of course, they've often been called the "King of the jungle," but in reality, they tend to stick to open plains and avoid the thick of the trees. Even in zoos, habitats often resemble arid environments with limited water and vegetation, relying more on rocks, sand, and grasses.

However, when the zoo is in a snowy area, lions are exposed to slightly different conditions than they are used to. In Massachusetts, one of the resident lions at Southwick's Zoo experienced falling snow, and, like some of the other zoo animals, his reaction was priceless.

Resident Lion Marvels at Falling Snow @southwickszoo

Just a lion soaking in the snow ❄️ Our lions enjoy playing in the snow for periods of time! With each fresh snowfall, we often see them exploring, experiencing, and engaging with the snow as a form of enrichment. They ALWAYS have access to their heated winter housing and can move in and out as they choose!

♬ Little Life - Robert Gromotka

In a recent TikTok post, Southwick's Zoo shares what it considers enrichment for its lions with its loyal audience. In the clip, LJ walks out of his cave enclosure onto the freshly fallen snow and stares almost mesmerized across his habitat as more snow falls to the ground.

He stands there, perfectly still, watching the scene. It's almost as if heis frozen in place. It's hard to believe that a creature so magnificent would be stopped in its tracks by something as simple as new snowfall. He doesn't even seem the least bit bothered by the cold, wet powder gathering underneath his paws.

The zoo gives a little context to the scene in the caption, "Our lions experience joy and curiosity as they play in the snow, which serves as an enriching experience for them. With each fresh snowfall, these majestic animals explore their environment."

Of course, LJ's sister, Levanna, stays behind in their heated enclosure during this outing. The zoo notes in the comments that she comes out and frolics through the snow from time to time as well. Maybe she was letting her brother have his moment, or he may have needed some space from his sister. You never know.

The lions are free to roam into the snow as they please or duck back in to the warm embrace of their heated back area. Both of these big cats were born at the zoo in 2012, so snow isn't new for them. However, it seems LJ hasn't lost the ability to appreciate the phenomenon yet.

Some fans were concerned that LJ might be uncomfortable or cold due to the snowy conditions. But the zoo reassured them that the lions have the final say on whether they head outside, and they often choose to go for a stroll or play. Other fans pointed out the similarities between LJ and the beloved Narnia lion, Aslan. That's quite the compliment for LJ here, as Aslan is quite the regal and beloved lion.

9 Ways Dogs Show You Matter to Them & They Love You

Mon, 02/09/2026 - 5:10am

As a pet parent, you and your furbaby have probably been through a lot together. While you’re always there to comfort them during scary moments like thunderstorms, they’re always happy to provide a friendly greeting when you get home. But while you know how you feel about your faithful sidekick, it can be hard to know if they also feel that you’re as vital to their happiness as they are to yours. After all, dogs communicate different than people do, which makes it hard to decode them at times. To help you understand your dog's behaviors better, we rounded up 9 ways dogs show you matter to them and they love you, according to experts.

By knowing what your dog's body language means, it can help you bond better and recognize what they are trying to express to you. “Dogs are constantly communicating, and many of the ways they show affection are subtle, easy to miss, and rooted in the trust and social bond they develop with their person or people,” says Erin Askeland, CPDT-KA, CBCC-KA, Camp Bow Wow's animal health and behavior expert.

So, even though you can probably pick up on your dog’s cues for basic needs like being hungry or wanting to play, love can be a trickier thing to detect. Still, Askeland says your dog is constantly showing you signs of affection that mean you matter to them—you just may not be aware of them just yet. “These types of dog behaviors reflect a relationship built on safety, predictability and positive experiences, which is what sound bonds are made of,” Askeland says.  If you're curious what are they are and how dogs show love, these are some of the more subtle signs that mean you matter to your dog.

There's no denying it, dogs have the sweetest ways of saying, “I love you!” That's why paying attention to these adorable dog signals shows just how much your pup treasures you.

1. They know where you are at all times

How can you tell if your dog cares about you? "Loyal dogs will actually 'track' their humans to keep an eye on where they are," Askeland points out. This can be as simple as following you across the room with their eyes, or actually getting up and moving around your place as you do. “If your dog keeps tabs on where you are in a calm, easy manner, it’s often due to their connection with you,” Askeland shares.

Your pup is also more likely to pay closer attention to their favorite caregiver compared to others, says Amanda Farah, coordinator of National Training & Behavior at Best Friends Animal Society. "Whether your dog is a velcro dog who needs to follow you room to room, they just check in on you occasionally, or they watch you from the couch, if your dog wants to know where you are and what you’re doing, it means they care about you," she says.

2. They’ll put a beloved toy in your vicinity

Dogs don’t always love to share their prized possessions, and fair. Who does? But when your pup brings you a favorite toy or beloved item, it’s usually a sign of affection and means you're one of their favorite humans. “Offering valued items reflects comfort and a feeling of closeness, especially when a dog chooses to do it on their own,” Askeland says.

3. They offer play bows or licks

If you need confirmation that your dog loves you, these signs of affection will let you know. Both licking and play bowing shows your dog feels good about engaging with you," Askeland states. "A big, loose play bow is one of the clearest ways dogs say they want to play with you and when it comes to licking, if a dog walks up to you and licks you rather than licking as you come near them, it can serve as a calming or affiliative gesture."

4. You’re their emotional support human

It’s a good sign when your pup seeks you out during scary moments. “Finding you during a scary or unfamiliar situation says your dog sees you as a source of safety and emotional support, which is a sign of a strong bond,” Askeland says. “Your dog may seek you out if they hear loud noises, like fireworks or thunderstorms, or if they are in a new environment like a friend’s house and aren’t quite sure of what to do there.” Dogs are "more likely to seek out a favorite person rather than just any random human in these situations," Farah points out.

Related: 7 Signs Your Dog Considers You Their Hero, Says a Trainer

5. They do a happy dance

Those happy dances you might notice your dog doing aren’t just for show. Instead, they suggest your pup feels joy, comfort and affection around you as they communicate happiness with body language. “A loose, wiggly body and full-body tail movement is a sign your dog is comfortable, relaxed and happy when around you,” Askeland confirms.

By noticing and celebrating your dog's happy dances, you can reinforce your bond and better understand the subtle ways your dog expresses love that you might otherwise miss.

6. They use a soft voice

Another sign your dog cares about you that you can look out for has to do with their voice and how soft it is. “Softer sounds made by a dog are often reserved for people they feel close to,” Askeland explains. "Quiet whines, grumbles, sighs or gentle talking can be one way some dogs connect socially." By using a softer voice instead of a loud bark or howl, your pup is letting you know they feel safe, loved and bonded with you.

However, that doesn’t mean you don’t matter to your pup if they do bark. Dogs communicate in many ways depending on their personality, breed, or mood, making each one different.

7. They nap on you

How dogs show affection can be hard to notice if you aren't sure what your dog's body language means. One sign sign of affection from dogs is if they choose to nap near you or by your feet. "When they do this, it's a sign your pup loves being around you," Askeland says. So, while it may feel crowded, this dog behavior is actually a compliment.

8. They check in with you between play sessions

Playtime is one of the most joyful ways dogs show their love, and devoted pups often want to make sure you’re part of the fun. In fact, our experts say dogs will often check in with their pet parents. "Many dogs will pause mid-play to check in with you—whether through a glance, a wag, a nudge, or making eye contact—to see if you’re still engaged," Askeland says. This pet behavior isn’t just adorablem, it’s a clear example of dog-human bonding and a sign your dog feels emotionally connected to you.

9. They match your pace

One subtle but heartwarming sign your dog loves you and cares for you is how they naturally match your pace. This behavior isn’t just about obedience—it’s a clear example of a dog-human connection, showing that your pup is attuned to your mood, energy and rhythm. "A lot of this depends on your pup’s training and energy levels, but dogs will often match your pace on walks as a sign they’re mentally in sync with you," Askeland says.

For example, when your dog slows down when you slow down or keeps up when you speed up, it’s a gentle reminder that they care about your well-being and enjoy being alongside you, which is a subtle but powerful sign of affection and bonding.

Maine Coons’ Amazing Pink Cat Tree Has Them Looking Like Fairy Lions

Sun, 02/08/2026 - 10:00pm

The type of cat tree you get for your cat says a lot about you as a person. Of course, we'll choose whatever is best for our cat overall, but it's nice when the thing we buy matches our tastes.

One Maine Coon cat mom officially has better taste than anyone I know. There's only one thing she's posted to bring me to that conclusion. Her incredible pink cat tree:

@wildmane_mainecoons

A tree full of joy #mainecoon #kitten #cutekitten #catlitter #mainecoonkittens

♬ Dolce Nonna - Wayne Jones & Amy Hayashi-Jones

Wild Mane Maine Coons is a very fashionable cattery. Their cats are ultra-chic, and their decor is out of this world. They specialize in European-style Maine Coons: big cats that get heavy.

Since there are several in the home at any given time, it's for the best that they have a huge cat tree. It's holding 8 kittens at the start of the video, and it could definitely hold some more.

Related: Cat Mom’s Insane ‘Dinosaur Cat Tree’ Has Her Kitties Roaring in Delight

The cat tree was apparently from a small business, and it has people talking. It kind of looks like:

  • A "truffula tree" from Dr. Seuss's The Lorax.
  • A cotton candy cloud.
  • Several big, fluffy cat paws.
  • A fairy house.

What you think it looks like exactly is up to you, but whatever it is, that pink color is doing wonders for those kittens. They're gorgeous on their own, but the pink really makes them pop in the best possible way:

I need a cat just so I can buy cool things for them, honestly. Plus, they're so beautiful. What's not to love?

Maine Coons Need Cat Trees

Okay, all cats need cat trees. They're an important piece of enrichment: if you can't play with them, a cat tree will give them somewhere to be and something to do. Plus, they provide an essential safe space.

Maine Coon cats in particular really need cat trees, and they typically benefit from larger ones. They provide:

  1. Space to climb.
  2. A good place to stretch.
  3. Somewhere to keep their claws under control.
  4. Beds big enough to support their bodies.

Not all cat trees will be suitable for Maine Coons; a lot of smaller options just won't fit. While your cat tree doesn't need to be this-level massive and amazing, it certainly doesn't hurt!

Hogle Zoo’s Newest Resident Has Arrived—And the Photos of This New Baby Giraffe Are Melting Hearts

Sun, 02/08/2026 - 9:50pm

Few things rival the precious arrival of baby animals at zoos. This year has just begun, and we've had quite a few bundles of joy arrive at the zoos across America. Whether it be a baby gibbon helping to increase the endangered primates population or a surprisingly adorable flamingo, it's hard to pick a favorite: until now.

Utah's Hogle Zoo's resident giraffes, Minka and Ja, recently welcomed a healthy calf. While he may not be the smallest, furriest, or even the cuddliest recent zoo addition, he is taking the internet by storm for his heartwarming newborn photoshoot with his proud parents.

Minka the Giraffe Gives Birth View this post on Instagram

On January 26, Minka, 8, and Ja, 5, welcomed quite the big baby, well, by baby standards. For giraffes, though, their offspring's 139 pounds is completely normal and healthy. He stands at 5 feet, 8 inches, slightly above the average height of a person. It's mindblowing to think that this newborn and I could stand eye to eye, but judging by his parents' heights, it makes total sense.

According to the zoo's press release, the newborn tumbled head over hoofs into the world, dropping six feet to the ground. Thankfully, he is in good hands with their team, who made sure he had an appropriate landing space for his entrance into the world.

The young giraffe was born in the African Savanna barn and was closely watched by the facilities staff. However, the first time, mom went through the birth process naturally and without a hitch. The staff did step in once the calf was on the ground to ensure that he found his footing.

"After finding his footing, the calf soon began bonding with Minka, nursing, and exploring his surroundings," the zoo reported. "He has shown a calm, curious demeanor and responded well during his first health checkup and routine care, qualities that will support future training."

Minka is nailing her gig as a first-time mom. The zoo reports that she has been "attentive" and "responsive" to her son, keeping a close eye on him and ensuring he receives the nourishment he needs. Ja has also been a hooves-on father. "Ja, along with other members of the herd, has been very curious, greeting the calf with gentle “smooches” from over the fence," said the zoo.

The touching images recently released by the zoo have generated significant interest from the general public, but zoo-goers will have to wait to see the new family. Both mom and baby will be taking a short hiatus from the enclosure. For now, the pair will bond and acclimate in their indoor enclosure under the watchful eye of their animal care and health teams.

During this time of year, it's not uncommon for the herd to stay inside due to the cold weather. Giraffes prefer a temperature of 50 degrees or higher. Minka's calf holds a lot of hope for the giraffe community. Their numbers in the wild are declining due to poaching, habitat loss, and human encroachment. As of 2016, approximately 117,000 were left roaming their natural habitats, so each birth at accredited zoos helps support population-saving efforts.

Dramatic German Shepherd Scolding Grandpa for Late Dinner Is Such a Mood

Sun, 02/08/2026 - 9:20pm

Unfortunately for pet parents everywhere, dogs on schedules can't deviate, no matter what. I have two, and if I'm even 5 minutes late to give them dinner, I don't hear the end of it. It's both a blessing and a curse to have such ritualistic companions—because we can't always hit every event on the dot—and yet, it's the one constant that keeps my day moving.

This is the exact scenario Rambo, the German Shepherd, went through. While Mom was away on vacation, the vocal pup had quality time with the "grandpawrents." But when Grandpa's not following the mealtime schedule, Rambo's putting him in time-out!

Portrait of a German Shepherd looking up.

Also known as "Soup Baby," Rambo's a man on a mission. He's good at telling time in his own way, and he fully banks on things to happen as expected. Sorry, Grandpa, but Rambo's going off!

"When dog mom is off duty," the caption reads, and I can finish that sentence from my own experiences. "When dog mom is off duty... they will RIOT!"

It's actually a good thing the vocal German Shepherd is sticking to his normal routine. It means he's well-cared for, loved, and finds comfort in knowing when things will happen, including meals. A 29-second video of a screaming boy asking for his yum-yums is too much for me to ignore—I'd let him have the run of everything we have!

"I WANNA GIVE HIM A HUG," one person shouted from the rooftops in the pup's defense. "That is some top-tier ignoring Grandpa is doing, full respect, Sir," another pointed out. "Feed him immediately!" another proclaimed.

Rambo Really Is a 'Soup Baby'

To be honest, I can relate to why Rambo is so passionate about getting his food. The German Shepherd has quite the following, and it's all because Mom is raising him in a "Chinese household" where he gets to taste-test tons of soup.

With such tasty things to snack on, it's no wonder he's scolding Grandpa to get it together!

There isn't a follow-up video showing how long Rambo shouted before he was fed, but if I were Grandpa, I'd get right on top of that to get back in the pup's good graces!

Tired Husky ‘Cries With the Babies’ Like a Single Dad Who Works Two Jobs

Sun, 02/08/2026 - 9:00pm

Having a baby is obviously very challenging for new parents. There are a lot of sleepless nights, milestones, and crying. The changes are instantaneous and severe.

One Husky is taking this whole "new sibling" thing tougher than most. He's being a good sport and helping out, at least. He's pulled out a new trick so mom knows when the babies are crying:

@levithehuskyrescue

yes, he yells at me whenever they cry, only now it’s a little less enthusiastically #husky #funnydogs #dogvideos

♬ original sound - Levi, Smuckers + The Twins

Levi the Husky rescue has been through some tough stuff in his life. He's a rescue, and he was taken in, having never had a bath before. He was also battling a nasty sinus infection.

Now, though, Levi lives in Canada. He used to just have one sister, but his mom recently gave birth to twins. She blocks them out in the video, but we don't need to see them to hear their cries.

Related: Handsome Husky’s ‘Bald Spot’ Has the World Giggling

Levi has adjusted pretty well to life with a pair of newborns. He even developed a new skill: he was going to get mom every time the babies cried. However, it's been weeks, and they still haven't stopped.

He's had to change directions. Now, he just cries along with them. Three babies crying is apparently harder to ignore than two! Levi is the biggest baby of all, though:

Huskies Are Known For Drama

Huskies are one of, if not the most dramatic, dog breeds on the planet. They really have no reason to be doing all of that, but it's a massive part of what makes this breed so charming.

Huskies are smart, kind, and typically very outgoing. They can handle a variety of lifestyles as long as they have ways to:

  • Stay active.
  • Socialize with people and other dogs.
  • Meet their enrichment needs.

A home with a lot of time to dedicate to both training and upkeep is very important. Luckily, Levi has that, and as they grow, those babies will become an integral part of his daily life. Just wait until they start dropping food on the floor!

This Cherry Blossom Cat Tree Is a Literal Work of Art

Sun, 02/08/2026 - 8:50pm

Cherry blossoms often symbolize the impending arrival of spring: longer, warmer days, more time outside, and dreamy floral aesthetics. It’s a promise to say goodbye to the drab gray days and tiresome winter months. Much like most of us are over winter, cat parents are over the drab, gray cat trees.

Instead, some are opting for fun, colorful options such as this castle or a festive seasonal piece. Others are upgrading with trees that match their home's aesthetic. Whether it's a minimalist or elegant vibe, aesthetically pleasing, functional pieces keep their cat happy while adding a touch of art to their home. Nothing says artistic beauty quite like the KBPET's Cherry Blossom Eden Cat Tree.

Cherry Blossom Eden: The Garden of Flowers, $409.00 at KBPETS

KBPETS has long been a consistent presence in the pet space, offering functional, solid pieces with quality you can count on. But the Eden cat tree is truly a piece of art. The cat tree stands 63-inches tall with four petals staggered up the trunk, offering multiple levels for your cat to lounge, hop, or play on.

The sturdy 30-inch base not only supports the tree and its branches but also hosts a partially enclosed mushroom house, which serves as the perfect hidey-hole for your cat to sleep and play. Additionally, it features a dangling pink pom-pom that complements the mushrooms' pink roof. Your cat can bat and bounce the ball to their heart's content while keeping cozy in the padded cove.

In case they get bored with that pom pom ball, four others are hanging from each of the petals, and all of them have bells to hold your cat's interest. The green trunk is covered in sisal rope, creating a durable scratching post that is accessible from all levels.

Each cozy pink petal is 20.5-inches wide, leaving plenty of room for cats of all sizes to sprawl out. The cat tree can hold cats up to 25 pounds, accommodating the kittens, adults, and senior felines in your life. The only downside is that this gorgeous tree has quite the shipping lead time. Plan for 6 to 8 weeks from order to delivery. But on the plus side, it is fairly easy to assemble and worth the wait, according to customer reviews.

One satisfied cat mom wrote, "My cats absolutely love it! They love resting in the adorable little flowers and look so cute while doing so. Shipping took about 8 weeks due to back order, but I’m very happy with my purchase." Another said, "This is absolutely the cutest cat tower I’ve ever had, and it looks perfect in my daughter‘s room."

If this beautiful piece has caught your eye, prepare for a long wait, all while knowing it will be well worth it.

Fluffy Little Dog’s DNA Test Results Are Not What Anyone Expected

Sun, 02/08/2026 - 8:20pm

Some dogs just look like they were assembled from leftover parts in the cutest way possible.

Sage is tiny. She is fluffy. She has black spots scattered across a white body, pale blue eyes that look like she sees into your soul, and ears that honestly might qualify as their own tax bracket. If you told me she was some rare Arctic farm fairy breed discovered in a snow-covered village, I would nod respectfully and believe you.

I am not a scientist or a dog DNA specialist, but I would have guessed she was 99% cutie patootie and maybe 1% magical woodland creature.

The adorable clip was shared on the TikTok account @life_bybrooke, and after building up the mystery, the breed reveal finally drops.

Sage is… mostly Chihuahua. Like 51% Chihuahua.

I KNOW.

Related: Lab Mix Turns Out to Be Less Than 5%, and Its Main Breed Will Shock You

The comments were divided between “I guessed Chihuahua” and absolute disbelief. One person wrote, “I guessed Chihuahua, I have a long-haired Chihuahua, and he's the best boy.” Another said, “She has to be 21% bunny ears.” Someone else admitted, “When you said she was a crazy mix and that no one would guess it, I wasn’t thinking Chihuahua.” And honestly? Same.

We have a Pomeranian, and we have never done a DNA test, but I assume he is 90% Pomeranian and 10% barky obnoxious monster. I say that with love. Small dogs contain multitudes.

But Sage being primarily Chihuahua just proves how wildly common that breed is in mixes. They sneak into everything. They are tiny but mighty.

And in this case? Absolutely adorable.

How Accurate Are Dog DNA Tests? @life_bybrooke

#dogsoftiktok #dogmom #doglovers #puppy #dog

♬ เสียงต้นฉบับ - kittikmr - veesun95

If Sage has you side-eyeing your own dog’s ancestry, you are not alone.

Dog DNA tests have improved a lot over the years and can be fairly accurate, especially for common breeds like Chihuahuas or Poodles. However, results can vary between companies, and rare breeds or very mixed backgrounds can make things less precise.

At the end of the day, whether Sage is 51% Chihuahua or 100% mystery floof, the only category that truly matters is best girl.

Cockatoo’s Sweet Gesture When He Sees Mom Crying Has Her Sobbing Even Harder

Sun, 02/08/2026 - 8:00pm

Birds aren't necessarily known for their empathy. When we think of a pet bird, we might think they're loud and obnoxious (they are). We might say they're aggressive, which they also can be.

However, one Cockatoo recently proved that they're genuinely intelligent, kind companions. When he saw that his mama was upset, she couldn't believe how he handled it:

@furbythebirb

Furby the therapist #furbythebirb #cry #sad #parrot #cockatoo

♬ original sound - Furby the Birb

Furby the Cockatoo is one of my favorite Cockatoos on the internet. He's the perfect mix of sweet and spicy, and he's a retiree! He was a greeter bird at a pet store for about five years, saying hello to every patron!

Those people skills have gone to excellent use in his forever home, luckily. He has a mom, a dad he refers to exclusively as his "best friend," and quite a few dog siblings. He's still young, too, so he has several good years ahead of him!

Related: Cockatoo Mastering His ‘Evil Laugh’ Is Ready for His Villain Era

In this video, his mom is crying, and Furby didn't like it one bit. He prefers it when she's happy, mostly because when she's happy, she:

  • Lets him out to play.
  • Gives him head scratches.
  • Offers him treats.
  • Lets him look out the window.

Don't get it twisted, though, he loves to mess with her. When she puts on a face mask after a hard day, he's the first to tell her to take it off! He also likes to make cleaning the bathroom a little harder:

@furbythebirb

Furby helps me clean some of the bathroom #furbythebirb #cleaning #bathroom #helper #parrot

♬ original sound - Furby the Birb

He's so unhelpfully helpful. I love this journey for him, and I lover that mom lets him live it.

Cockatoos Are Highly Intelligent

Furby is one example of everything this incredible species has to offer. Though Cockatoos can be difficult to handle, they're very intelligent birds!

It's said that Cockatoos have the cognitive ability of a toddler, depending. Cockatoos tend to be more intelligent the more you:

  1. Speak to them.
  2. Play with them.
  3. Introduce them to new things, people, and places.

A Cockatoo's intelligence is both a blessing and a curse. Though it makes for a very fun pet, it also means that these birds can pull off escapes and often outsmart their parents. It's all worth it, though, to have a feather to cry on!

Bulldog Goes in Timeout With His Human but Can’t Figure Out What To Do Next

Sun, 02/08/2026 - 7:38pm

They say dogs are man’s best friend, but one empathetic Bulldog is going above and beyond best-friend duties. When his favorite human gets put in a timeout—complete with a stint staring at the wall—the precious pup goes into timeout, too. There’s just one problem: the adorable bulldog has no idea what to do in a timeout. His confusion is about as charming as his status as one of the most loyal dogs on social media.

Take a peek at the video that caught our eye.

In the adorable clip, the Bulldog and his buddy look like caught-in-the-act partners in crime as both sit facing the wall while their amused human mom captures the moment on video. The pup embraces his buddy’s position but adorably sticks one leg out, as if he’s not quite sure what comes next.

Judging by the look on the dog’s face, he has no idea why his buddy is facing the wall—or how he got roped into the punishment, too. This bulldog couldn’t be any more charming if he tried.

The sweet Bulldog’s attempt to accompany his friend into timeout quickly won him legions of social media fans.

@fatboybrisket

He was sitting in the corner looking sad, so obviously I got him a chair and scooted him right next to me. Problem solved. 🐶💙 #englishbulldog #bulldoglife #dogmomlife #dogsoftiktok #spoileddog

One commenter wrote, “Yep… looks like a couple partners in crime doing the time.”

Another added, “He’s like quit crying you’re the reason we’re here.”

“That is an emotional support dog if I ever saw one! 😂,” commented another.

“That pup is a ride or die pup,” gushed one viewer.

While we’d like to think this dog and his kiddo sibling share an unbreakable bond, even when caught in the act, the Bulldog’s behavior is also true to the breed. Known for being loyal and devoted companions, Bulldogs are often considered one of the best family dogs and are especially good with kids.

We can’t promise a bulldog will always give up his freedom when his human sibling doesn’t follow the rules, but we can promise he’ll make the consequence a little less lonely.

Resident 'Lowe's' Cat 'Fired' From Alabama Store Has People up in Arms

Sun, 02/08/2026 - 7:20pm

The best stores I'll hype up every chance I get are the ones with a dedicated fur employee on staff. Whether it's a friendly dog who greets customers as they walk in or a resident cat who takes up space wherever they please, these stores deserve all the business for bringing these cuties on board.

One such diligent worker bee named Mama Cat was recently "fired" from her role at a Gadsden, Alabama Lowe's store after five years of service. Now, people are petitioning for this kitty to get her job back.

A store cat relaxes in a cat tree by the window.

As @dailymail reported on February 5, 2026, the unofficial "Quality Assurance" and "Pest Control" Mama Cat became a customer favorite during her time of service, with many shoppers going out of their way to give her plenty of love, praise, and pets.

But after what Lowe's corporate headquarters cited as customer complaints, the longtime feline staff member was "laid off," and devoted fans aren't too happy about it.

@dailymail

A beloved cat has been 'fired' from her 'job' at a Lowe's store - sparking outrage from customers. Mama Cat was a popular presence at the store in Gadsden, Alabama for more than five years. Her unofficial titles included 'Quality Assurance Cat' and 'Pest Control', and shoppers would often stop to pet her when they visited the store. However Lowe's corporate headquarters have now called for her removal, citing customer complaints. Mama Cat was eventually removed from the Lowe's store but her supporters are now calling for her to be brought back. A petition demanding she is 're-hired' has gathered nearly 3,000 signatures. #cat #catlover #alabama #meow

♬ son original - Cat’slife - chubby_s_life

With so many people who grew to love the presence of the kitty during their visit to the home improvement store, an online petition was started boasting more than 3,400 signatures so far, asking the cat get her job back.

“Mama has been a positive and incident-free presence at the store for a significant period of time and has become meaningful to both customers and employees,” the petition reads, in part.

A Mama Cat Update From a Lowe's Employee

As heartbreaking as this all sounds, an employee reached out to the local news via Facebook with an update, stating:

"The cat was taken home by an employee and is doing quite well. We have been talking about this for a while, and the employee told me the cat slept like a baby on his couch and even cuddled up with his other cat. The local Lowe's donated food and other supplies. She will be well cared for. Everyone can rest easy.”

@awdreysimpson

I always have to go to the paint section now to visit the Lowe’s cat! #lowescat #catsoftiktok #lowes #cat #gadsden

♬ What's in the Box? - Xposed 4heads

If that's not enough of a happy ending to the hardworking kitty's story, the mayor declared that February 3 (which happens to be my birthday!) is now “Lowe’s Mama Cat Day" to give credit to her "positive impact" and "civic pride."

That said, may Mama Cat enjoy her retirement basking in the sunlight with all the treats and snuggles she deserves for her dedication to giving Lowe's shoppers all those memorable moments.

Playtime with our furry friends is just as important as regular walks, a consistent feeding schedule and unconditional love. After all, for every bit of energy our pets put into adoring us, they deserve that same enthusiasm returned in full.

Thankfully, brands like Kong make it easy to find the right playtime essentials to get the most out of a good roughhousing session with your good boy or girl. Flexball Sport Ball, $28.99 at Kong Flexball Sport Ball

Kong

Best known for ultra-durable rubber dog toys built to withstand heavy chewing, boost mental stimulation and elevate playtime, having a Kong toy on hand is always a recipe for a good time. The brand first made its name with the classic hollow, snowman-shaped Kong that can be stuffed with treats, peanut butter or kibble to keep dogs occupied longer, but the lineup has since expanded to include a wide range of equally tough, reliably fun toys.

In the case of Kong’s Flexball Sport Ball, this newer arrival to the Kong lineup is perfect for loads of fetching fun in the backyard or at the park. It’s made from a durable swirled material, giving it the right balance of firm and cushiony textures, with deep ridges that make it easy to grip. And thanks to that tough exterior, dogs can move seamlessly from fetching to chewing without skipping a beat.

If you’re looking to spark a little playtime madness, this Kong super toy is guaranteed to get the job done. Honestly, all you need to do is toss this ball into the mix, leave a couple of good boys or girls to their own devices and sit back and watch the action unfold. Husky-Pit Bull Mix Has the Iciest Blue Eyes You’ll Ever See

Some dogs walk into a room, and you notice their tail. Their size. Their bark. And then there are dogs like Indy, where your brain short-circuits for a second because all you can see are the eyes.

The comments are exactly what you’d expect. “Those are the most beautiful eyes on a dog I have ever seen,” one person wrote. Another added, “I can’t get over his eyes.” Someone else said, “He is absolutely gorgeous.” And honestly, they are not wrong.

One viewer joked, “I don’t think I could handle the neediness of that combo,” which feels valid because Husky energy plus Pit Bull loyalty is not a low-maintenance situation. Another person pointed out, “He’s all Husky except the Pit blockhead and paw reach,” which is actually kind of accurate.

Indy is a big, stunning boy. And I will say, as someone with a very small dog, that is enough for me. Our Pomeranian already runs the house with full confidence and about three times the personality required for his size. I cannot imagine doubling the athleticism and adding Husky theatrics to the mix. Indy is beautiful. I admire him from afar.

14-Year-Old Rescue Dog Gets Forever Home After Months of Waiting and It's the Best

Sun, 02/08/2026 - 6:10pm

Senior dogs often get overlooked in shelters. While potential pet parents may hesitate to adopt an older dog due to health issues and age, these older canines have so much to offer and make wonderful family members.

After what seemed like an endless wait, Tinkerbell the 14-year-old rescue dog was recently adopted and is on her way to her forever family.

In the TikTok from @vintagepetrescue, the adorable tan and white Terrier pranced around the room with joy. Tinkerbell wore a stylish orange harness as she appeared to be having a little celebration at some very happy news.

"Absolutely thrilled to announce Tinkerbell has been adopted!" the onscreen text read. "This girl has come so far, we will miss her, but we are beyond happy for her."

Followers cheered for the fur baby getting her forever home and shared some well-wishes on her next chapter.

"What happy news! Go Tinkerbell!" one raved.

"Yay Tink! I’m so happy for you, sweetheart," another wrote.

"Such a fabulous puppy dog," someone posted.

Tinkerbell Was Abandoned in October 2025

A previous Instagram post shared Tinkerbell's story and how she became a resident at Vintage Pet Rescue.

"Last week, this senior was picked up by Providence animal control," the onscreen text read as Tinkerbell sadly lay in a kennel dog bed. "She's 14 years old and was left tied up outside an apartment complex."

The Vintage Pet Rescue team picked up the precious pooch from the shelter in October of last year and brought her to their sanctuary. Tinkerbell seemed to "perk up" as soon as she headed out the door. The canine cutie even had a spring in her step as she left the shelter.

After a refreshing beauty bath, Tinkerbell mingled with her fellow resident fur babies and immediately felt at home.

Now, after several months of hoping and waiting, Tinkerbell finally has a forever family and the fairytale ending she deserves.
