Sometimes you really don't know what is going to walk through the door at a veterinary clinic, and apparently that includes a Cane Toad wearing a harness.

In this adorable clip, a female Cane Toad is calmly perched on an exam table wearing a bright red harness attached to a bungee leash. She sits there with her little front legs tucked neatly in front of her, as if she has an appointment to keep and places to be. With her stocky build and serious expression, she honestly does resemble a tiny green Bulldog waiting patiently for her name to be called. Just check out this cutie.

The cute video was shared on the @animaldocaust TikTok account with the caption, “Sometimes you never know what’s gonna walk through the door in a vet clinic, and that's what makes it fun.” And judging by the comments, vets everywhere were both delighted and slightly jealous.

There were plenty of exotic pet stories in the comments, too. Of course, someone added, “They’re getting out of hand with these Frenchies,” which honestly feels like the perfect final joke.

Believe it or not, how to teach your parrot to talk isn't super hard. While there are plenty of videos on social media of parrots chattering up a storm, Aimee Warner, DVM, resident veterinarian at Waggel says it’s best to start with the basics. “Simple words are easiest to learn because they are associated with moments, routines and feelings,” she says. “Parrots are considered intelligent and social birds and learning their first words reveals how they communicate with people.” 

Keep in mind that teaching a parrot to talk takes patience and consistency, but starting with the right approach can make learning new words much easier, especially when birds are introduced to speech early and reinforced often. Reinforcement is key during the process, according to Tara M. Harrison, DVM, professor of Zoo and Exotic Animal Medicine at NC State College of Veterinary Medicine. “You can try saying things over and over. For example, do it daily or multiple times a day,” she says. “Some might pick it up or pick up other words.” 

Consistency is crucial as well when it comes to teaching your pet parrot how to speak, Warner notes. “Say the word, use the same tone and follow it up with something positive, like attention, praise or a favorite snack,” she says. “They learn best in a relaxed and social environment where talking is encouraged."

Some birds will also say some or all of the words they know randomly, Harrison explains. “For all of them, the earlier in their life you start, the more likely you will be successful,” she says. With consistent practice and positive reinforcement, even shy or older parrots can learn a surprising number of words. Start with simple, repeatable phrases and gradually introduce new words to help your parrot expand its vocabulary over time.

1. “Hi”

Every bird learns at a different pace, but “hi” tends to be one of the easiest words for parrots to pick up. Short words like “hi” are learned quickly because parrots hear them frequently in predictable situations, Warner shares. Using simple greetings like this helps your talking parrot start repeating human speech naturally, and it’s often the first word your pet parrot will say on its own. Starting with easy, everyday words also builds your bird’s confidence and encourages it to try more words over time.

2. “Hello”

Looking for another easy word to teach your talking parrot? Like “hi,” “hello” is often one of the simplest words for a pet parrot to learn. “This word is typically said with excitement, eye contact, and movement, which is an attention-grabbers for parrots,” Warner says. Teaching common greetings like this helps your bird start mimicking human speech and can be used to help later form phrases.

3. “Bye”

Want a quick word your talking parrot can pick up easily? Like “hi” and “hello,” “bye” is short, simple, and used frequently throughout the day, making it an ideal word for a pet parrot to learn. It's no wonder it's one of the best words to teach a talking parrot.

“The easiest words for a parrot, macaw, or other species are the things they hear the most or are shortest or easiest to say,” Harrison says. “For some birds, it is either the repetition—over and over—or whatever the bird hears often and finds fun.” Using everyday words like this helps your bird naturally learn how to talk while keeping interactions enjoyable.

4. “What”

Another short word your parrot can learn is “what." “It is frequently used in reaction to the sounds made by the parrot,” Warner says. “Many parrots enjoy call-and-response activities, and ‘what’ is a good word to use in this way.”

5. Your bird’s name

One of the first words to teach a parrot should be their name! In fact, Warner says like the word “hi,” a parrot's name is one of the easiest words a bird will learn. “They hear it frequently, and it is addressed to them,” Warner explains. “It is also accompanied by positive reinforcement. The parrot will eventually learn to associate its name with interaction and reward.”

A Golden Retriever named Charlie has TikTok viewers cracking up as he stands upright like a human while devouring his pup cup. The adorable moment highlights not only his impressive strength and balance, but also his very good manners as he keeps his doggy elbows off the counter.

Who Invented the Pup Cup?

According to his own website, Rocky Kanaka, a pet rescue advocate and founder of The Dog Bakery chain of shops, coined the term puppaccino in 2008. He started serving cups of whipped cream to dogs who visited his bakery with their humans, and the tradition became a sweet success. But the actual birth of the pup cup was likely thanks to a wider group of loyal coffee shop patrons who were keen to include their best furry buds in on their cafe gatherings.

The pup cup eventually became a canine culinary sensation with the support of Starbucks, which began serving the coveted cups of whipped cream on its secret, you've-gotta-specially-request-it, menu. Truth be told, all kittens are perfect and can do no wrong in my eyes, but I'm a sucker for Maine Coons for many reasons. We adopted my Dachshund mix from an Arkansas rescue when she was just a year old. Her dark black fur mixed with tan markings was easy to maintain and even today, she barely sheds. Now, 14 years later, that adorable coat is mixed with gray and white fur, especially around her muzzle and neck. I think it makes her look more sophisticated and dignified, as well as downright adorable.

In the TikTok from @tails@allyandbeau, the gorgeous Golden stood and stared into the camera, patiently waiting for a treat. It was easy to tell that Ally was on the older side due to the amount of white fur that covered her face.

Yet the shape the white fur took could make you do a double-take. Spreading over her eyes and nose, her tan fur still dipped down by her brow into a V-shape. The result was a practically perfect heart shape, just adding to Ally's charm.

"Ally Girl is such a lover, she even wears a heart on her face," the onscreen text read, with the caption providing further details. "[She] started getting her sugar face at age 7. She has always had so much love to give and wanted to wear it on her face. Now, at almost 13, she has a perfect heart shape."

Golden Retrievers Get White Facial Hair as They Age

Most dogs get gray and/or white hair as they get older. With some canines, the graying fur is evenly distributed. Yet with Goldens, their whitening hair tends to stay on their face, mainly around the eyes and muzzle.

This transformation usually starts around 5 years old and gets more noticeable by the time they are 6 or 7 years of age. Genetics also play a part in when your Golden starts getting more white fur. Stress or anxiety can cause premature graying in Goldens.

On January 23, 2026, @dexthegolden shared a TikTok video of their very observant Golden Retriever named Dex, who doesn't let anything slip by him, even if not to be seen; he's watching, always watching. And yes, judging, too. 

All it took for him to appear was the fleeting sound of one of his parents opening the fridge in the kitchen. Suddenly, there he is, head popping down from the top level of the home.

He's "just checking." On what, though, I'm not sure. It could be some judgment because his parent is opening the fridge, again. Or it could be a hopeful puppy glance, thinking there's something in that fridge for him.

Golden Retrievers Have a Silly, Fun Personality

The funniest thing about this clip and Dex staring at his parent from some random place high up is that it's very likely that he's watching to get a snack or just playing because it gets a giggle. Golden Retrievers are known for being silly. 

According to the American Kennel Club, Goldens are at the top end of the "playfulness level," which means they love to play and likely will seek out entertainment, and they're in the middle of the pack for dogs who have a protective nature.

Given these two characteristics and social traits, Dex could really be playing around, but also be serious at the same time. These dogs are "friendly" and "intelligent," the organization writes, which also checks out for silly Dex, too.

Some dogs sprint into the snow like it is their life’s calling. This New York City Pug is… not that dog.

In the TikTok video, the camera is pointed at the building, where the sidewalk is covered in fresh snow. Our tiny star edges up to the threshold, leans her head out, and takes one long, unimpressed look at the winter chaos in front of her. You can almost hear the record scratch.

Her whole face says it before her human does: absolutely not.

Pugs are already little masters of expression, but this one takes it to another level. The big eyes go wide, then squint just enough to say, “You cannot be serious.” Her human laughs and translates what we’re all thinking: “She says hell no.” And honestly, that might be the most accurate closed captioning in internet history.

She doesn’t bark. She doesn’t whine. She simply plants her paws and refuses to cross the invisible force field between “indoor heating” and “frozen sidewalk nonsense.” For a second, she pokes her head out again like she’s willing to reconsider, then pulls back even faster, as if the snow personally offended her.

The video is only a few seconds long, but it perfectly captures that mood we all get when we open the door, feel the wind hit us, and immediately start questioning all our life choices. This is not a snow day Pug. This is a “find me a blanket and a snack” Pug.

You get the sense that her human knows this routine well: open door, offer outside, receive instant tiny veto. The laughter behind the camera isn’t mean, it’s affectionate. They’re in on the bit together. She’s not being forced. She’s being allowed to express exactly how deeply she does not vibe with winter.

Honestly, it is kind of refreshing. Not every dog has to be a snow zoomie machine. Some of them are here to represent the rest of us, the ones who think “nope” is a perfectly valid weather response.

This Pug’s doorway protest is adorable, but it also makes sense. Short-nosed breeds, small dogs, and pups with thin coats can struggle more in cold weather. My dog Lola actually started out wary of snow too, and now she loves it, so there’s always a chance today’s dramatic “nope” becomes tomorrow’s zoomies.

We've all been there. You go for some sort of same-day procedure like getting your wisdom teeth pulled or a test that requires anesthesia, and later hear how batty you acted afterwards. In the TikTok from @imbluethesiberiann, Titan sat in the backseat of the car following his vet appointment where he underwent anesthesia. The woozy canine sat completely upright with his eyes open very, very wide.

"The doctor said he'd be loopy after anesthesia, but I wasn't expecting this," the onscreen text read, with the caption adding, "I need to know what he's thinking asap."

Titan stared straight ahead and licked his lips, panting but practically motionless in his seat. "Titan, you okay?" his mom asked. The hazy Husky turned his head toward his mother with a blank expression on his face that seemed to say, "Huhhhh"?

The precious pooch remained extremely wide-eyed and didn't even blink. Titan may have had a million thoughts running through his mind, or none it all. It was really hard to tell.

Trixie's babies -- called "kids" -- came into this world the way most goats do: as twins. Triplets are also common, and sometimes, a mama gives birth to even more. More kids equals more sweaters!

There might be some fortuitousness behind these multiple births because goats are herd animals, which means they require companionship to thrive. Not only does a herd keep goats from becoming lonely and anxious, but living in a group provides kids with safety and protection.

Goats are able to stand on their own just minutes after birth and are encouraged by their mothers (like we can see Trixie doing in the video) to use their legs for support. They can also start climbing and jumping in a matter of days, and after a couple of weeks, they have often developed into fearless little kids.

Like human babies, goat kids love to snuggle. It goes back to their need to feel protected and emotionally supported. And not all kids are given their own adorable sweaters, so sticking close to one another also provides warmth!

A kid's vocalizations, known as "bleats," are immediately recognizable to their mothers after birth. Goats bleat for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is because they are excited at feeding time.

Goats sneeze (or make a snorting sound) to warn each other of danger, whether real or imagined. This behavior acts as a subtle but recognizable alert system to communicate fear or safety concerns within the herd.

This Tortie is big and proud, unafraid to be her weird, unique self, and that's pretty great. She may not be saving lives or finding the cure for cancer, but I'd say she's just as important for gifting the world with her presence. We are now #blessed because of this queen.

I remember my children had a similar reaction the first time I took them through a car wash. Luckily, they recovered much more quickly and even came to enjoy it. It's hard not to find yourself almost hypnotized by those spinning brushes, wagging flaps, and all those soap bubbles. For Sydney, however, this was more traumatizing than mesmerizing. 

Can Dogs Stay in the Car for a Car Wash?

It really depends on the individual dog's temperament. While some dogs enjoy the experience, others (like our pal Sydney) find the water pressure and machinery distressing. With that, pet parents should only take calm dogs through the car wash, experts advise.

Regardless, Sydney is just the cutest little girl. I hope she recovers from this trauma soon.

"I woke up and my dog made his own bath," the onscreen text read, with the caption adding, "Second time this week."

Even though River had previously decided to take a dip on his own, his mom was still surprised.

"River, what are you doing?" she exclaimed, yet couldn't help laughing.

The gorgeous Golden whipped his head around in surprise when his mom called him, but didn't seem to feel any remorse. Most of his fur was wet as he pawed and splashed at the water, though there didn't appear to be any shampoo or soap products. Maybe he just wanted to cool off or go for a makeshift swim. Regardless, River was having a blast of a bath.

River Also Loves the Pool

Apparently, the aquatically inclined canine gravitates toward any water-holding structure and apparently has no self-control when it comes to taking a dip.

"It’s a struggle," his mom wrote in the comments. "I can’t go anywhere with a pool because he jumps headfirst."

Followers were amazed at River's ability to prep his own bath, and suggested his name may have something to do with his affinity for water.

"You named him River — what do you expect?" one pointed out.

"He was just trying to get his bath out of the way so it was one less thing for you to have to worry about," another remarked.

"I guess you need to change the faucet handles for the tub," a follower posted.

"Don’t yell at him. You named him River. He’s fulfilling the prophecy," someone noted.

From now on, maybe his mom should keep the bathroom door locked.

Even adorable, well-behaved puppies should know: someone is always watching. And in the case of Hank, it's his parents -- and around 400K other TikTok fans.

As the clip explains, 14-week-old Golden RetrieverHank was left alone and out of his crate for the first time while his humans kept tabs on him via their pet cam. What ensued is some of the most wholesome content the internet has to offer. Hank "got every toy out" of his basket, playing and bouncing around the living room with abandon. He does take a moment to look curiously at the camera, as if knowing something is up, but then happily returns to his busy schedule of wrestling with his stuffies and biting his own paws. Hank is truly on his best behavior, and it's clear he makes his parents very proud.

When Is It OK to Stop Crate Training?

Experts agree that when to allow your dog free rein of the house depends on each pup. However, it is widely recommended that parents wait until at least one year of age before releasing their hound(s). At this age, most dogs are showing a certain level of maturity and trustworthiness, are fully potty trained, and have outgrown any destructive behavior. But dogs achieve these milestones at different rates, so each family needs to decide when to stop relying on a crate based on its own comfort -- and courage -- level. Hank's parents are obviously very brave.

Some benefits of crate training are as follows:

• Creates a safe space: A crate keeps your dog out of trouble when you can’t keep eyes on them.

I know many families with mature dogs who are no longer crate training but have left their dog's crate out and available for them to use at the pup's discretion. Thanks in part to consistent, constructive training, many dogs regard their crate as a positive place that's safe, calming, and all their own.
