The Honest Kitchen’s Newest Partnership Is a Dream for Cheese Lovers (And Their Dogs)

Sun, 02/01/2026 - 10:50pm

Parade Pets aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

The Honest Kitchen has long been one of our favorite dog brands. We used several of their products with our first pup, Paisley, and have continued using the ones that became staples. Our go-to kibble topper is their dehydrated Goat's Milk with Probiotics. But there are plenty of fabulous products in their line, and it's about to get even better.

Recently, the human-grade pet food maker has teamed up with an equally amazing snack creator, Moon Cheese. For years, the brand has amassed a cult-like following while bringing crunchy, cheesy snacks into our lives. Now, thanks to this new partnership, our pups will get the chance to enjoy the same quality and great taste.

A Steller Snack Mash-Up The Honest Kitchen Partners with Moon Cheese

While National Cheese Lovers Day may be in the rear-view mirror, true cheese lovers know that just one day isn't enough to give the savory treat all the appreciation it deserves. With The Honest Kitchen and Moon Cheese teaming up, dogs will no longer have to look on longingly while their owners enjoy top-notch snacks. Now, they will have their own, very similar versions.

"Pet parents are paying closer attention than ever to what they snack on, and they want the same level of quality for their dogs," said Miki Dosen, Chief Marketing Officer at The Honest Kitchen, in a press release. "This partnership with Moon Cheese allows us to give dogs their own version of the snacks that humans love, creating treats that feel fun, familiar, and perfect for shareable moments."

The collaboration between the two food makers brings together the best of both worlds and recognizes that dogs are a significant part of their owners' lives and often share snacks. Plus, owners are more conscious of what goes into their canines' food, especially after so many food recalls across major dog brands, and the rise in fresh food and treat options.

Two of the treats actually contain Moon Cheese, while the other two in the collection are high-quality baked treats. All four treats focus on providing your pup with high-protein snacks with plenty of protein and real cheese.

"Moon Cheese has always been about celebrating real ingredients and bold flavor in a fun, unexpected way," said Kate Richmond, Sales Director at Moon Cheese. "Partnering with The Honest Kitchen lets us extend that philosophy to our four-legged friends, creating a snack moment that feels playful, familiar, and rooted in the same quality standards pet parents expect for themselves and their dogs."

The collection includes:

The Cheddar Cheese Bites and Gouda Cheese Bites are both made with Moon Cheese and are single-ingredient options that both you and your pet will feel good about having in the treat pantry. The Cheddar Cheese and Crackers is a combination of cheese and bone broth that's served up in a simple snack cracker. The Cheddar Cheese Biscuits are equally simple, combining indulgent cheesy flavors with the crunch most of our pups crave.

To commemorate the launch, a limited-edition cheese crumble shaker will be for sale. The delectable treats are available at pet stores like Petco and online at thehonestkitchen.com. For a limited time, pet parents can score an extra 20% with the code "CHEESE20."

German Shepherd's Gentle Reaction to Baby Caressing His Ear Is Everything

Sun, 02/01/2026 - 8:20pm

Giving your baby a dog to grow up with means they'll always have a built-in friend, companion, and cozy snuggle bug to be their number one fan. Most dogs take this role seriously, vowing from their first interaction, that's their human to protect, no matter what.

German Shepherd Bruce made this promise to his human sister from the moment he recognized Mom's pregnancy. Now that the baby is in the world, Bruce is taking his big brother duties to new heights. The recent video shows their sweet cuddle time together, and it's one for the record books.

Bruce is exactly why so many people, including me, repeatedly say we don't deserve dogs. When you hit the doggy jackpot and get such a loyal, devoted, affectionate pup who loves the new baby as much as you (or more), it's worth capturing.

German Shepherds Are Natural Protectors

Like Bruce, German Shepherds as a whole have guarding in their DNA—it's in their name to "shepherd." Not only are these dogs some of the most devoted pets and companions, but they're extremely smart, which is why they're a top choice as police or search-and-rescue canines.

Described as courageous, confident, agile, and noble, this is the perfect pup for families with children because they'll literally put their lives on the line to keep them safe. You couldn't ask for more!

Bruce has been proving all of these things true from the very beginning, and his love for his tiny human grows more every day.

Indy Zoo Welcomes an Adorable New Baby Gibbon, but the Exhibit Is Closed for a Relatable Reason

Sun, 02/01/2026 - 7:50pm

White-handed gibbons are an endangered species in the wild, with the population thought to be in decline. However, obtaining an exact count is difficult because their population is spread across Southeast Asian forests, and they're frequently misidentified as other Gibbon species. A 2014 study showed that their population has declined by half over the last 40 years.

The decline of these adorable primates in the wild makes their conservation a priority. Several conservation breeding programs in zoos and sanctuaries worldwide help increase populations. One pair of gibbons in Indianapolis is definitely doing its part to save its species: earlier this month, they welcomed their fourth offspring.

A New White-Handed Gibbon Is Born View this post on Instagram

Indianapolis Zoo's pair of Gibbons, Elliot and Koko, are proud parents of their fourth baby. Their newest addition was born on Jan. 10, 2026. According to an Instagram post from the zoo, the baby and momma are doing great, but you won't be able to see the pair in the exhibit just yet.

They will recuperate and bond until the winter weather has subsided. Gibbons are native to Southeast Asia, so they're partial to warm, tropical conditions with higher humidity, all of which is lacking in the Midwest at the moment.

Temperatures below 40 degrees Fahrenheit can be especially challenging for their young. The zoo has heated indoor areas where gibbons can remain warm and comfortable, which is where they will be for the foreseeable future. Once the weather is warmer, they will return to the enclosure with their other child, Echo.

The Gibbon Family Unit

In the wild, a bonded pair of gibbons lives in their family unit with up to four offspring until their young reach maturity. Then, they leave to find their own bonded mates and start families, something the zoo has been replicating while working to preserve the species.

Koko and Elliot's newest little one is their fourth baby. Unfortunately, their firstborn, Kopi, who they had in 2015, passed away. Kavi, Echo's older sister, is living her best life at the Cincinnati Zoo with a male named Hosen, leaving Echo and the new, yet-to-be-named baby with Koko and Elliot.

Koko and Elliot have been residents of the zoo since 2007 and 2009, respectively, and, according to the zoo, they are part of the Gibbon Species Survival Plan (Gibbon SSP). The plan, facilitated by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), aims to establish and sustain a diverse, stable gibbon population across North American locations.

Typically, wild gibbons have up to four offspring due to their slow reproduction rate. While gestation is only 7 months, gibbons usually leave 2 to 3 years between each birth. The SSP and the AZA meticulously cultivate all breeding for gibbons in their program.

According to The Gibbon Conservation Center, they can live up to 50 years in captivity, while only living 30 years in the wild, leaving plenty of time for this pair to produce more little gibbons. This latest addition to their brood is such a cutie!

'Talking' Siamese Cat Puts New Kitten in 'Jail' Then Pleads the 5th

Sun, 02/01/2026 - 7:20pm

Things cats do rarely surprise me anymore because I've come to expect they will one day take over the world, and there's nothing we can do about it. With intelligence that probably ranks far above normal numbers and the kind of curiosity and confidence that gets them in trouble, I can't help but admire (and fear) what felines are capable of.

That said, when kitties do band together and take over, talking Siamese cat Mervyn Cumberland Weems—aka "Merv"—is the exact right gal for the job as commander of the highest degree. If you need proof, her latest stunt of putting the new kitten in "jail" should do it!

Foster Pit Bull Puppy Finds Heating Vent and Sets up Camp

Sun, 02/01/2026 - 6:10pm

Winter is here in full force and most of the country is dealing with freezing temps. Our fur babies may have full coats, but it's still not enough to keep them warm in these conditions. Just like their parents, our dogs seek out any heat source they can find and are hesitant to share.

Case in point, Piglet the foster Pit Bull puppy discovered a heating vent in his house and claimed it as his own.

@we.three.pitties

I was not expecting this 🥺 Our little Piggly Wig 🐷 will seek out any and all heat sources 🔥 to toast up his little bod. His newest obsession? The air vents, which are pumping out hot air right now 🥺. He’s a very smart boy that knows how to use his resources - how impressive (and cute) is this?! Follow along for daily Piglet updates 🐷🤎 #fosterpuppy #fosterdog #fosteringsaveslives #cutepuppy #pitbullpuppy

♬ Dream Away - Ramol

In the TikTok from @we.three.pitties, Piglet's foster mom searched for the Pittie pup and got concerned when she couldn't locate him.

"I panicked when I couldn't find our itty bitty foster Pittie, but then I found him like this," the onscreen text read.

The camera panned over to Piglet, who hovered over a small heating vent in the corner of the bedroom that was releasing very hot air.

"Did you find the heat source?" the canine cutie's mom asked, impressed with his ability to suss out where the warmth originated. Piglet sprawled out on the vent so his entire body could take in the high-temped airstream as his mom praised his resourcefulness.

"You're already a professional Pit Bull and you're only like 8 weeks old — where did you learn to do this?" his mom questioned. "This is incredible."

Piglet Loves the Heat

This wasn't the first time Piglet uncovered a place to keep warm. The foster puppy makes a habit of finding the toastiest place to spend his time.

"Our little Piggly Wig will seek out any and all heat sources to toast up his little bod," the caption shared. "His newest obsession? The air vents, which are pumping out hot air right now."

Related: Foster Pit Bull Cuddles With 'Most Patient' Canine Brother and Our Hearts Are Melting

Apparently, Piglet is picky about his heat sources and currently prefers the vents despite many other options.

"It's so funny he's doing this," his mom remarked. "He has access to heated blankets everywhere. The fire's on and going."

But Piglet couldn't resist the heat blowing directly onto his little body. The adorable pup was practically glued to the vent and even gave it a few licks. He looked completely relaxed and content, and definitely not in a hurry to go anywhere else.

The next time Piglet's mom can't find him, she'll definitely know where to look.

Giant Percheron Horse Towers Over 6' Tall Man

Sun, 02/01/2026 - 6:05pm

TikTok viewers are amazed by Howard, a colossal Percheron horse whose size becomes even more impressive when he’s seen beside a man who himself is six feet tall. Despite his enormous stature, Howard’s calm presence is what truly captures hearts.

In the clip, we learn that Howard is 18.3 hands tall -- a "hand" is the standard unit used to measure horses -- which converts to a height of 6'3". But a horse's height in hands only includes the length from the ground to the top of the shoulder blades, a spot called the "withers," which is found just behind a horse's neck. That means that Howard actually stands much, much taller, eclipsing the man and the other horses in this video.

He's a stunning sight to behold as he strides along happily with his bestie Paddy and his other horse friends on the ranch. They all look like babies next to Harold with his astounding build, despite them being full-grown, average-sized beasts. One of them, named Clara Bell, even seems overcome by Harold's stature and wipes out shortly after galloping past him (thankfully, she's A OK).

Harold is described as playful and as easy-going as "a giant dog," with a tender temperament that belies his intimidating size.

He elicits plenty of compliments like "magnificent" and "beautiful" from people in the comments, with one posting, "Gorgeous. He could easily just step right over the fence with no effort!!"

He probably could. Are all Percherons as enormous as Harold?

The Gentle, Giant Workhorse

Harold is, in fact, an ideal example of a Percheron. Percherons measure 15 to 19 hands and can weigh 1,800 to 2,600 pounds, compared to Thoroughbreds, which average around 16 hands and weigh about 1,000 pounds. The Percheron originated in France, bred from hardy draft horses and agile Arabian horses to create intelligent powerhouses built for hard work. Their unique blend of athleticism and strength makes them perfect for pulling carriages, sleighs, and hayrides. Thanks to their steady stamina, they’re also well-suited for farm work and logging.

Powerful yet even-tempered, Percherons are the definition of gentle giants and are well-suited to all levels of owners and riders who are comfortable with large horses. They can also comfortably carry more than 300 pounds, making them a solid choice for heavier individuals. They are captivating creatures that can thrive in both the competition ring and the local farm if given a job to do -- and much more than the average amount of food to keep them well-fed and energized.

Tabby Cats Waiting in Line To Sit on the Heating Vent in Their House Is LOL Funny

Sun, 02/01/2026 - 5:20pm

Just because cats don't have to go outside in this frigid winter weather, it doesn't mean that they don't get cold, too.

We very much see that in this new hilarious video from @odtanaya.

It features two Tabby cats sitting in a hallway, looking like they are waiting in line for something, but what?

If you look closely, you see that the cat in the foreground is sitting on a vent, soaking up all that heat and getting warm and toasty.

The cat behind them is clearly waiting for their turn on the magical warm vent.

The text overlay on the video reads, "There is currently (1) cat in line for the vent. Estimated wait time: 2 hours."

Aww, it's gonna be a while for Cat No. 2!

However, as one commenter pointed out, the second cat should be OK because: "At least the next one up is wearing socks to keep him warm," as his little feet are white, unlike the rest of his brown body, giving the adorable appearance of socks.

The 80s-sounding waiting music playing for the audio is also the perfect touch.

Another funny commenter on the video wrote, "Our vents are experiencing heavier sit volume than usual. You will be vented in the order in which your call was placed. If you like, leave your name and collar number, and a qualified vent will warm up to you at their earliest convenience."

If you enjoy videos of cats waiting in line for things, this is actually a whole genre on social media.

Though the kitties in the above video were very patient about taking turns with the vent, it looks like it took a violent turn in this other video, which shows the two kitties fighting over the vent.

♬ Yacht Club - MusicBox Why Do Cats Crave Heat?

You may be wondering why these cats are turning to violence just to sit on a heating vent.

The answer is: Cats crave warmth.

A source of warmth is an instinctual need in felines, and luckily, in these modern times, they can find it right in their house!

Related: 11 Signs Your Cat Imprinted on You, According to Cat Experts

When they lie on a heating vent like this, they require less energy from their bodies, allowing them to remain less active and not exert as much effort to maintain their body temperature.

It is a win-win!

Unless, of course, you have to wait in line for the vent.

7 Words That Cats Hate the Most, According to a Vet

Sun, 02/01/2026 - 4:30pm

If you're a pet parents, sometimes it may feel like you live on a different planet from your cat. After all, since cats communicate differently than people do, knowing what they are trying to tell you can be hard to determine. So if you've ever thought to yourself, "Why does my cat ignore me when I talk?" it might be due to the phrases you're using, as there are some common words cats dislike. To find out what those are, keep reading because we rounded up 7 words cats hate the most, according to a vet.

But why do some words bother cats more than others? While cats do their talking without words and express their feelings in non-verbal ways, it turns out that they have more in common with people than you may realize, at least when it comes to learning language. Dr. Julie Hunt, DVM, a veterinarian contributor for Embrace Pet Insurance, points to a 2024 study suggesting that cats can form "picture and word associations quickly after only brief exposure." The research also points out that cats form these associations more quickly than infants do. Because of that, if you suspect that your cat is not a fan of certain words, it's probably true.

If you're curious which words cats hate the most, you may be surprised that a lot of them are common phrases you probably use. Though, in case you aren't sure how to tell if your cat is in a bad mood because of somethign you said, it's important that you pay attention to your cat's body language and your cat's behaviors as that can help you find out if certain words annoy your cat. Once you recognize your cat's stress signals and have an idea of what words you should aviod around your cat, you'll see that your bond will grow even more and your cat will be happy.

Related: 8 Heartwarming Signs Your Cat is Happy You’re Home, Say Vets

7 Words Cats Hate the Most, According to a Vet A cat upset by something its owner said.

No matter if you have a Maine Coon or a Tabby cat, chances are the same similar words can make them upset. When you understand the common words cats hate the most, you can take steps to ensure your cat has a more positive association with those terms. Scroll on to learn the words that make your cat cringe on the inside. That way, you'll know how to communicate with your cat better and you'll also know some signs your cat is stressed so you can know what not to say to your cat.

1. "No"

One word cats dislike the most is “no,” which many cat owners unknowingly use too often. Like human toddlers (and, let’s be honest, some adults), cats can interpret “no” as a negative or punishing signal. "Young children almost universally understand the word 'no' as a rebuke or a prohibition, so we can assume that cats know this word also," Dr. Hunt explains. "The word 'no' may be associated with the owner taking away something the cat is very interested in or relocating the cat to a different room, isolating them from something they wanted."

Avoiding this word can help improve communication with your cat and reduce stress, making interactions with your pet cat more positive and enjoyable.

2. "Carrier"

Cat carriers may be on the safest way to transport a cat, but that doesn’t mean your pet cat enjoys the ride. Many cats develop a negative association with the word “carrier” because it’s often linked to trips they don’t want to take.

"If an owner has consistently used the word 'carrier' while presenting the cat carrier, and then has taken the cat somewhere it doesn’t want to go, it’s reasonable to assume that the cat has developed a negative association with the word," Dr. Hunt explains.

To help prevent this, Dr. Hunt suggests keeping the carrier out and accessible even when no one is going anywhere. This helps your cat stay comfortable with the carrier and reduces stress during trips, making travel with your pet cat easier and less stressful.

Related: 6 Things That Secretly Annoy Cats, According to Experts

3. "Car"

While we're on the travel struggle bus, another word cats hate is "car." Why? "Most cats don’t love car rides, unlike most dogs," Dr. Hunt states. "If the cat develops an association between the word 'car' and being put into a carrier to go somewhere they don’t want to go, it’s reasonable to think it won’t be a positive association."

Understanding that this is a common word cats hates can help improve your cat’s mood and overall well-being so your cat feels more like part of your family.

4. "Vet"

Vet care is vital, but don't expect a thank you for taking your kitty to their regular check-up. Yet, not even Dr. Hunt is surprised that "vet" is one of the words cats hate the most.

"Going to the veterinary office is inherently stressful for cats," Dr. Hunt concedes. "They may have to sit in a waiting room with other pets, including dogs, then be brought into an examination room, pulled from their safe carrier, examined, poked and then stuffed back into their carrier."

Related: 7 Signs Your Cat Considers You Their Hero, Says Vets

5. "Here, kitty"

Are you guilty of saying this phrase to your cat? If so, you're not alone. Many cat owners use this without knowing it's a phrase cats hate being said to them, especially by a stranger.

"Some cats are happy to meet strangers, while others have no interest in becoming friends with a new person and instead are scared during the experience," Dr. Hunt notes. Cats who aren’t comfortable around strangers may link this short phrase with fear, making it a word or phrase they dislike. “Humans who want to have a more positive first interaction with a new cat may consider learning to slow blink and ‘tortle,’ which is a trill or chirrup, at the new cat,” Dr. Hunt recommends. “These communicate friendship in the cat’s own language.”

Therefore, avoiding phrases like “here, kitty” can help improve interactions with your pet cat and create a more positive relationship.

6. "Vacuum"

To be honest, you may not like this word either. But for cats, it’s often a trigger for anxiety. Many felines dread the loud, roaring sound of a vacuum cleaner, which can make even the mention of “vacuum” a stressful word for them to hear.

"Few cats appreciate a loud vacuum moving through the house in what the cat may perceive as a random or unpredictable pattern, potentially trapping them in the same space as this loud and presumably dangerous contraption," Dr. Hunt says.

As a result, Dr. Hunt says it's common for cats to hide when they hear you mention the need to vacuum. Understanding this cat behavior can help pet owners reduce stress and create a calmer home environment for their feline friends.

7. "Trim"

"Trim" is one of the words cats hate the most, and Dr. Hunt says a trip down memory lane usually reveals why.

"If an owner has consistently used the word 'trim' or 'nail trim' and then clipped the cat’s nails shortly after, it’s possible that the cat may have a negative association with these words," says Hunt. Cat paws are very sensitive. This helps them to capture and handle prey effectively."

However, it can make claw-di-cures uncomfy, though Dr. Hunt stresses that they shouldn't cause a cat's pain. "Owners can offer the cat some treats before and after the nail trim to limit the negative association with these words and this simple procedure," Dr. Hunt advises.

By understanding why cats react to these triggers, cat owners can make routine grooming less stressful and strengthen their bond with their feline friends.

Calico Cat Has Distinct Pattern on Her Back That Looks Like Jesus and Nobody Can Unsee It

Sun, 02/01/2026 - 10:55am

You never know who will cross your path, or why, but the universe decides when it's time. This is mostly true when it comes to the cat distribution system, and whether we like it or not, these kitties, usually stray cats, choose their humans carefully, so all we can do is go with it!

Recently, one stray Calico cat did just that by choosing @frankwhite1985 to take care of her. As a devoted cat daddy, Frank didn't hesitate to make sure "Porch Kitty" was safe and warm. But the coolest part is the color pattern on her back, which has people literally seeing Jesus.

A Calico cat poses outside.

It must be a sign from above that Porch Kitty ended up at Frank's—who's known for taking in strays—because the Jesus pattern on her back feels like some kind of miracle. He was supposed to meet Porch Kitty, and we were all meant to see her, too. #blessed

Just 3 seconds into the clip, you can clearly see the face of Jesus on this sweet girl's back! I've heard of Jesus appearing on toast, but I wonder what the odds are with cat fur?

With something so crystal clear, the comments section did not disappoint. Some, however, see Charles Manson, Mick Foley, Tommy Chong, Jim Morrison, Cat Stevens, and even Forrest Gump, and many more funny comparisons. What do you see?

Porch Kitty Isn't the Only Rescue

As Frank (the patron saint, as some deemed him) explained, Porch Kitty isn't all that interested in coming inside, but that's OK because he's got his hands full.

Other members of the feline brigade include Lucy Mom, her offspring Sadie, the only male named Ozzy, Lucy (another offspring), and Stevie, whom he hilariously says is "no relation."

We may never know why some stray cats choose us or why they appear when they do, but a feline with the actual face of Jesus showing up has to be some kind of sign. Maybe Frank should light a candle and pray or hit the confessional to make sure everything's all good! Either way, Porch Kitty is one of a kind!

Golden Retriever Puppy Gets a Lesson in 'Dog Manners' and Everyone's Melting

Sun, 02/01/2026 - 10:10am

Most siblings argue and bicker from time to time. It's like it's in their DNA. Teasing, taunting, and even wrestling are often a part of the sibling relationship. Brothers and sisters learn their first social skills from each other, and the same applies to our fur babies.

Pearl the Golden Retriever is a perfect example, where she had to teach her puppy sister Poppi a lesson on boundaries.

@pearlgoldengirl

Do you know how powerful it is for the adult dog to appropriately correct a puppy? Here's why I didn't step in, in this moment. Adult dogs communicate boundaries in ways puppies need to learn. A brief growl or posture change isn't aggression, it's information. This is how puppies learn manners, respect space, and develop social skills they'll use for life. It also teaches pearl to stand up for herself and not allow bad behaviors. The correction is calm, short, and stops the behavior, exactly how puppies learn boundaries and confidence. #dog #puppy #doglover

♬ Homestead - The Bare Bones

In the TikTok from @pearlgoldengirl, Pearl was lying on the floor just minding her own business, hoping to get in some relaxation time. Poppi saw the situation differently and wanted to play, so she grabbed her big sister's tail and pulled. And pulled. And pulled.

"Pearl, are you alright?" her mom asked, witnessing the interaction.

The older sibling was quite patient and waited for her little sister to get the hint that she wasn't up for the game. However, Poppi was oblivious to Pearl's social cues and continued to treat her tail like a tug-of-war rope.

Finally, Pearl had to put an end to the behavior and bolted up. "Okay, she said enough," their mom called out. The eldest Golden scolded Poppi with some low growls and snarls, adding in a few nips to put her in her place. The playful puppy finally got the message and backed off.

Pearl's mom praised her for reprimanding her little sister in a firm but gentle manner.

Puppies Learn From Older Dogs

At first glance, viewers may have wondered why the siblings' mom didn't break up the altercation sooner. She saw the situation as a teachable moment.

"Do you know how powerful it is for the adult dog to appropriately correct a puppy?" the caption read. "Here's why I didn't step in at this moment. Adult dogs communicate boundaries in ways puppies need to learn. A brief growl or posture change isn't aggression, it's information. This is how puppies learn manners, respect space, and develop social skills they'll use for life."

Their mom also considered the incident a win for Pearl, who's learning how to be assertive in a positive way.

"It also teaches Pearl to stand up for herself and not allow bad behaviors," the story continued. "The correction is calm, short, and stops the behavior, exactly how puppies learn boundaries and confidence."

Poppi will probably think twice before trying that game again.

Guinea Pigs Enjoying Their Own Private Salad Bar Will Warm Your Heart

Sun, 02/01/2026 - 9:25am

My favorite TikTok guinea pigs are back, and they're still hungry. Thankfully, they live in a diner's paradise "where a feast just magically falls from the sky." In this recent video, we see the magician behind their gourmet lifestyle chopping up a smorgasbord of fresh veggies (that frankly, any person would be lucky to enjoy) while his gang of little guys squeak wildly in anticipation.

He then spills the salad gently down onto the ground around them, and the ravenous rodents make quick work of their lunch. Instead of Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, the forecast for these furry friends is sunny with the certainty of veg.

I find watching these little creatures indulge in their meals very relaxing, and I can't help but feel comforted by the fact that they are being so well cared for. Do happier guinea pigs exist? How can we tell?

Signs Your Guinea Pig Is Happy

Turns out, you can know whether your guinea pig is happy based on a few telltale signs, some of which include:

  1. A good appetite and enthusiasm for food (check!)
  2. Engaging in plenty of activity
  3. “Popcorning” (when a guinea pig leaps into the air with happiness)
  4. Squeaks and whistles (check, check!)
  5. Peaceful interactions with habitat mates
  6. Grooming their habitat mates

Based on this list, it would seem that the guinea pigs in this clip are supremely happy. Just the food selection and companionship alone should cause them not a care in the world -- except for dreaming about their next salad storm.

Related: Proud Toddler Feeding Horses Is Giving Us All the Feels

In general, guinea pigs are considered social, chatty little animals who make low-maintenance pets. To ensure their happiness, guinea pigs need a roomy indoor cage with solid flooring, clean bedding, a hideaway, and temperatures kept between 65–79°F. A healthy diet is essential: unlimited green grass hay, guinea pig–specific pellets, fresh water, daily vitamin C, and small portions of fresh veggies. Regular grooming and annual vet checkups with an experienced exotic veterinarian help keep them healthy. Guinea pigs also need gentle handling, daily playtime, and companionship—either from humans or another guinea pig—to truly flourish.

Bernedoodle Escapes During Massive Winter Storm and the End Result Will Have You in Tears

Sun, 02/01/2026 - 9:20am

Move over, Ace Ventura, there’s a new pet detective on the scene!

In a heartwarming Fox29 Philadelphia segment on TikTok, we learn about Benji, the Bernedoodle, who became a social media star after escaping from his Philadelphia home during one of the biggest snowstorms the city has seen in years. His running away led to a citywide search and his safe return after 48 hours.

But the real star was drone operator Rick Rotondo, who eventually located Benji in a vacant lot and helped reunite the adorable pooch with his grateful pet parents!

After watching this segment, I’m sure there are lots of people who are re-evaluating their careers and considering a switch to pet detective!

I’ll be honest, I didn’t think this was a real industry, but after watching this clip and seeing the reaction from viewers on TikTok, I’m tempted to get my pet detective certification! (If there is such a thing!)

“So glad he was found safe!!!!” noted a fan.

“I saw this on Facebook. I’m sobbing,” added another person. “I’m so happy he’s home.”

“Lord, dogs don’t know what they put us through when they run away,” said another viewer.

Amen!

Why Do Dogs Run Away?

It sure seems like Benji has a nice setup at home with a comfortable house and loving parents. So, why on earth would he run away?

Tuxedo Cat Brings Her Stuffed Dragon for the Cutest Show-and-Tell We've Ever Seen

Sun, 02/01/2026 - 8:20am

Some cats bring you mice. Some cats bring you parts of mice, ugh. And then there’s MooMoo, a big black-and-white Tuxedo cat who prefers to present her stuffed dragon like she’s leading show-and-tell.

In the sweet clip, you can hear her mom off camera asking if she’s coming. MooMoo answers with a proud little meow, then walks into the room carrying a small stuffed dragon carefully in her mouth. She holds it high, tail up, and drops it off like she has something very important to share.

@moomoosdeliveryservice

Good morning world!!! Had an early morning Dragon drop off to complete and it went perfectly smooth 😻 #cat #catsoftiktok #cute #fyp

♬ A Summer Place - Hollywood Strings Orchestra

The adorable video was shared on TikTok by @moomoosdeliveryservice, and viewers immediately fell in love with her confidence. One person wrote, “I LOVE it when cats are so talkative,” while another said, “Oh my goodness, she’s perfect.” And honestly, she is.

Related: Sweetest Cat’s Affection for Her Favorite Toy Is Truly Never-Ending

What really gets people is the body language. “Holding that dragon just high! You know she’s proud!” one commenter pointed out. Another added, “That is a confident and proud tail!!! What a good girl!” And they’re not wrong. MooMoo isn’t sneaking around. She isn’t hiding her toy. She’s showing it off like she just won it in battle.

Someone else summed up the entire vibe perfectly: “Awww. What a fantastic way to start your day!” Because watching a kitty proudly parade around with her favorite toy has a way of instantly improving whatever mood you’re in.

There’s something so sweet about the way she responds to her mom’s voice. She hears the call, answers it, and makes sure to bring her prized possession along. It feels less like random behavior and more like a deliberate presentation. Look what I have. Isn’t it great!

And honestly? It is.

Why Cats Love Showing off Their Toys @mycatispeople

#catsoftiktok #fluffy #pets

When cats carry toys around and present them to their people, it often taps into natural hunting instincts. In the wild, cats would bring back prey. In our homes, that instinct can translate into proudly carrying stuffed toys instead.

The upright tail, the vocalizing, and the careful delivery can all be signs of confidence and comfort. Kitties who feel safe and bonded with their humans are more likely to engage in this kind of sharing behavior. She loves her toy, so she wants her mama to love it, too.

MooMoo’s dragon may not be real, but the pride definitely is.

Border Collie Teaching Golden Retriever Puppy to Play Tetherball Is the Sweetest

Sun, 02/01/2026 - 7:10am

Older siblings often teach their younger brothers and sisters a lot in life. This applies to our fur babies as well, where an elder dog frequently shows their junior sibling the ropes of daily living. My senior Dachshund took on her big-sister role like a pro when we adopted her Pug mix brother. She took him under her wing — I mean, paw — and helped him learn some basic tasks like climbing stairs, playing tug-of-war, and minding his manners.

This Border Collie obviously takes her job as the older sibling just as seriously and helped her little puppy brother Buzz learn one of her favorite games.

@thegoldenboybuzz

The way he sat and listened #bordercollie #goldenretriever #dogmom #dogsoftiktok #dogplaying

♬ The Winner Is... - DeVotchKa Version - DeVotchKa

In the TikTok from @thegoldenboybuzz, the Border Collie was outside with Buzz as they stood around a setup tetherball game. The Golden Retriever puppy sniffed at the ball but wasn't sure what to do with it. Buzz jumped around, expecting it to move on its own so the game could get started. His big sister could see his struggle and decided to step in.

"Watch our Border Collie teach our Golden puppy how to play her favorite game with her," the onscreen text read.

The older sibling went over to the ball and nudged it, showing Buzz that he had to move the ball himself. The precious puppy jumped around in excitement but still didn't understand the game.

The Border Collie then gave a full demonstration, almost like she was saying, "See, this is how you do it". She pushed and chased the ball around, then brought the ball all the way around the pole so Buzz could see how it's done. The Border Collie even held the ball still so Buzz could give it a try.

Buzz Was a Good Student

The older sibling had a very attentive student who really wanted to learn. Buzz sat and patiently watched the demonstration, probably wishing he had a pen and paper to take notes. He tried the game whenever she gave him a chance, and I'm betting he got the hang of it quickly under her tutelage.

Followers loved the tender scene and praised the sweet relationship between the fur babies.

"Your Border Collie is trying to make it longer for your little pup — that just warms my heart so much," one wrote.

"That’s so adorable. He’s actually hitting the ball with his paws, while she uses her mouth. That’s LOVE," another raved.

"They'll play tetherball for years to come," someone remarked.

These two fur babies are a wonderful example of the unbreakable bond between siblings.

7 Adorable Ways Dogs Say 'I'm Happy' Without Barking

Sun, 02/01/2026 - 6:10am

You and your dog have a special bond that no one else shares, which can make it feel like you operate on another wavelength. But because dogs communicate differently than people do, it's understandable to wonder sometimes if your pet is sharing the same feelings of happiness as you. After all, since dogs don't talk, trying to figure out what they are expressing can be tricky. So if you've ever thought to yourself, "How can I tell if my dog is happy?" you're not the only one. To help you understand your dog better, we rounded up 7 adorable ways dogs say 'I'm happy' without barking, according to vets.

All in all, dogs will usually bark when they’re excited and happy, but most pet parents don't know that's not the only way dogs express their happiness. "Some dogs simply aren’t big barkers or they share their feelings in other ways," says Aimee Warner, DVM, resident veterinarian at Waggel. “For example, a quiet dog can also be happy, it's more about a dog's body language and recognizing dog behavior cues." Abel Gonzalez, DVM, clinical director at Dutch, agrees. “A happy dog isn’t the loudest or the most energetic—it’s the one who feels safe enough to be themselves,” he says.

Remember, your dog is an individual, and learning their emotional signs is an ongoing process. That’s why Warner says it’s good to pay attention to them so you can catch subtle, non-verba hints you may otherwise miss. By knowing the signs that your dog is happy, you can then do what you can to keep that joy going. With that in mind, check out how dogs show they are in a good mood and happy without barking, according to vets.

Every dog is unique, and just because your dog doesn’t bark or show certain behaviors doesn’t mean they’re unhappy. Dogs express happiness without words in subtle ways and learning to recognize these signs of a happy dog can strengthen your bond and improve their well-being. From tail wags and relaxed body language to playful behavior and soft facial expressions, there are plenty of nonverbal ways dogs show joy.

1. They Have Laidback Body Language

The exact way a dog shows happiness can vary from pup to pup, but according to Warner, happy dogs typically display relaxed, tension-free body language. This means their neck and muscles are soft, their posture is loose, and they appear calm and at ease. “A wagging tail in a relaxed manner can be an example that indicates this,” Warner shares.

Paying attention to these subtle canine body language cues can help you recognize when your dog is truly is a good mood even if they aren’t barking or making loud noises to tell you.

2. They Do a Happy Dance

Dogs can develop a special happy dance, like wiggling, spinning, or hopping around, according to Ashly Smith, DVM, regional medical director for Small Door Veterinary. “It’s their way of physically expressing joy,” she says. “This behavior usually happens when a dog feels safe and excited, often greeting their favorite person or anticipating something they enjoy, like a walk or treat.” Smith adds that this is a “healthy outlet” for energy and an overall cue of a confident and content dog.

3. They Give You a Special Blink

Dog emotions can be subtle, and one of the clearest nonverbal signs of joy is the “slow blink.” This is when a dog deliberately slows down how fast they close their eyes, and it can be a sign of contentment. “Blinking slowly shows they are comfortable around the people around them,” Warner explains. “This is similar to how humans relax their facial muscles when they are relaxed.”

Basically, it’s a quiet little signal that says your dog feels safe and is totally happy to be by your side. Think of it as your dog’s way of saying, “I’m comfy, I trust you, and life is good.”

4. They’re All About Zoomies

If you're curious what a funny dog happiness cue is that you can watch out for, it's zoomies! These sudden bursts of energy are a sign that a dog is happy, according to Smith. In fact, these quick, playful sprints are one of the most recognizable dog happiness behaviors. “Dogs release built-up excitement or stress this way, and it’s especially common after playtime or when transitioning from rest to activity,” she notes. “Zoomies are a positive dog behavior, showing that a dog has energy, curiosity and is mentally stimulated.”

Overall, when zoomies happen in a safe environment, they are a strong indicator that your dog feels cheerful, which can caues them to express happiness without making noise to do so.

5. They Smile

How do dogs express happiness? Some dogs naturally have a mouth that appears to smile, like a Samoyed and Shiba Inu. However, many dogs outside these breeds will also “smile” when they’re happy. “When a dog is happy, its mouth will be slightly ajar with relaxed lips and the tongue falling naturally into place, not tense,” Warner says. “The overall appearance is one of ease.”

When this happy dog facial expression is paired with loose posture and calm body language, it’s a strong indicator your dog is feeling comfortable and joyful—often expressing happiness without them having to bark.

6. They Play Bow

One cute dog behavior that means your dog is happy is when they play bow. If you're not familiar with this, a play bow is when a dog stretches their front legs forward while keeping their rear up. “This is a clear invitation to engage,” Smith reveals. “I often see this in dogs that are happy, confident and socially comfortable.”

This move occures when a dog wants to communicate that they have playful intentions to other dogs or humans, reinforcing social bonds, according to Smith.

7. They’re Psyched to Do Anything

Happy dogs are often eager and enthusiastic about everyday activities, whether it’s going for a walk, playing, or simply spending time with you. “A dog who seeks you out, checks in visually, or brings you a leash isn’t just excited, they’re expressing attachment,” Gonzalez says. “That enthusiasm reflects a strong human–animal bond, emotional security and consistent positive experiences.” These pet behaviors are common indicators of a happy, well-adjusted dog, even when they’re expressing joy without barking.

7 Signs Your Dog Is Always Thinking About You, Say a Trainer

Sun, 02/01/2026 - 5:10am

As a pet parent you may wish you could read your dog's mind. While you can't telepathically communicate with your pet, experts say you can get a sense of what they're thinking by watching their body language and behaviors as it's how dogs communicate. Though, because it can be hard to decode at times, we rounded up 7 sweet signs your dog loves you and thinks about you all day, according to a trainer.

"Noticing specific signs can help dog parents better understand how their dog communicates, how they’re feeling and what they need," says Shannon Kenny, CPDT-KA, a professional dog trainer with Woofz. "In my opinion, it helps to strengthen the human-canine bond! It’s also important to remember that how dogs show emotional attachment is different and it’s sometimes quite subtle."

So, if you've ever wondered how you can know if your dog misses you, you're in luck! See below to find out more about how you can decode your dog's emotions and what some of the most common signs your dog is thinking of you are. Once you start to recognize these dog behaviors, you'll see how much your dog loves you and that they really do consider you to be their favorite person.

It's fun—and even flattering—to see the signs your dog thinks about you all the time. But you have to know how to tell if your dog loves you and is always on your mind first. Trainer Kenny shares ways dogs show affection that mean you take up serious real estate in your pup's head. Paying attention to these dog attachment behaviors can help you understand just how much your furry friend values you.

1. They cuddle with you

Your dog may have the coziest bed on the market, but nothing beats cuddling with their favorite human. This is one of the most obvious signs your dog is thinking about you and how dogs communicate that they love you.

"When a dog seeks out a specific person for rest or physical closeness, it likely means that that person feels safe, familiar and comforting," Kenny says. "Dogs are extremely well-versed in pattern recognition, and they often choose the individual they associate with consistent calmness, predictability, and positive interactions."

Basically, your dog's cuddling style is a clear example of dog attachment behavior and how dogs show affection toward their owners through their body language. Paying attention to these dog behavior signs is a great way to know how much your dog loves you and how often you’re on their mind.

2. They follow you to the door

This sweet dog attachment behavior may tug at your heartstrings as it's a sign you are always on your dog's mind. "If your dog follows you, this behavior often reflects social attachment between the dog and human," Kenny says. "Dogs are highly attuned to routines and transitions, so they may be used to going with their human or just want to see if their person is actually leaving the house."

Sometimes shadow dogs get a reputation for being clingy, but that's not necessarily the case. "It’s important to note that confident and emotionally secure dogs can do this," Kenny adds! "If a dog displays intense stress or panic behaviors while an owner gets ready to leave, it’s a sign to seek out professional help."

3. They look at you with soft eye contact

This gentle dog body language cue is one of the more subtle signs your dog is thinking about you. For attentive owners, a devoted dog will soft gaze can reveal just how much you occupy their mind.

"Soft eye contact looks relaxed and 'sleepy,'" Kenny notes. "The eyes may blink slowly, the face appears neutral, and there’s no stiffness in the body. nlike hard staring, which can signal tension, soft eye contact is often a clear example of how dogs show affection toward their owners and a reflection of dog attachment behavior."

Paying attention to these dog behavior signs, like soft, trusting eye contact, can help you understand how much your dog loves you and the strong bond you share.

4. They give you plenty of kisses/lick you

The rumors that dogs only lick you because you taste good are false. In fact, gentle licking is one of the clear signs your lovey-dovey dog is thinking about you and a way dogs show their affection. Kenny explains that licking is a social behavior often rooted in dog attachment and bonding.

"While not all licking equals affection, many dogs use gentle licking as a way to engage, seek interaction or maintain social closeness with someone they care about," Kenny states. "It’s important to observe a dog's body language and a dog's behavior while they do this to ensure it isn’t driven by stress or fear."

5. They greet you when you come home

Dogs often greet their favorite humans with excitement, which is a clear sign your dog is thinking about you. These joyful reunions show just how much you occupy their mind, proving that dogs can truly form strong attachments to their owners.

"A happy greeting usually looks loose and 'wiggly' with relaxed body posture, tail movement that involves the whole body, and a soft face—open mouth, blinking eyes, neutral ears," Kenny says. "This kind of greeting reflects happiness, excitement and a positive association with their owner."

Noticing these greetings by your dog is an easy way to notice dog attachment behavior and understand how much your dog loves you and that they've likley been thinking about you and waiting on your to come home.

6. They’re pumped when you wake up

Your faithful dog may shine when you rise, but their glow isn't just about breakfast-related excitement. "While breakfast can be part of the picture, many dogs display happy or excited body language in the morning," Kenny shares. "Waking up and morning routines can signal social time, attention and fun activities together." She adds it shows they had been thinking about you.

7. They play bow to you

Another one of the sweet signs that you're always on your dog's mind: They essentially give you the royal treatment by bowing. This playful gesture is one of the many dog behavior signs that shows your pup is fully engaged and focused on you.

"A play bow happens when a dog lowers their front end while keeping their rear end up, often with loose movement and a wagging tail," Kenny explains. "It's typically an invitation to play and can mean 'I want to interact with you, and I mean this playfully.'"

In fact, it's a massive compliment. "Dogs usually only play when they are feeling comfortable and safe enough to do so, which is a great sign if the dog is offering it to their human," Kenny beams.

Scottish Fold Cat 'In Disguise' Can't Stop Stealing Dad's Slippers

Sat, 01/31/2026 - 8:20pm

I'm not sure what it is about cats and their motives, but they seem to be born with a little bell in their brains that rings, alerting them that it's time to cause some trouble. Maybe the house has been a little too boring, and they're just fulfilling their purpose to spice things up. Usually, it's in the most unhinged way possible, but at least they're good for a laugh!

Charlie, the Scottish Fold, is the perfect example because he seems to always be up to something. This time, it's another taking of Dad's slippers, which he's done many times before. In the recent video, the sly kitty thought he could get away with it because, as Mom says, he's in a clever disguise and thought no one would notice!

First of all, Scottish Fold felines are just plain silly. Do they understand how strangely adorable they are, and have they decided to use that to do whatever they want? Probably.

The video shows the cute little troublemaker refusing to let go of Dad's slipper. Mom joked that he's an Orange Cat disguised as a white one, and if you know what "peak orange behavior is," this is it—Charlie is doing it!

As one person wrote, he's a "white cat with an orange heart," and that's quite possibly the best way to describe so many diabolical kitties!

Described as loving, calm, and endearing, Scottish Folds are notoriously charming little sweethearts who enjoy interaction with their people, but they don't need it the way other breeds do. They play fetch, are sometimes reserved with strangers, and are a little too smart for their own good, at times.

A fun fact about these cats is that you might catch them sitting upright every now and then, if something intrigues them. Also, they're not huge fans of being left alone too long, and because of the down-turned ears, some other cats won't be fans of them, as it's a sign of hostility!

That said, this breed is just as capable of Orange Cat behavior, like any other. Charlie is proof!

Golden Retriever Refuses To Wake up From Cuddle Nap and Commits Fully to the Bit

Sat, 01/31/2026 - 7:20pm

Cuddle naps are sacred to Golden Retrievers, especially when they involve their favorite human and a perfectly broken-in couch, both of which make for the best sleep environment ever. When that moment gets interrupted, some Goldens will do absolutely anything to extend it, including questionable commitment to the performance.

This video captures one Golden Retriever being gently asked to wake up, only to double down on pretending she’s still asleep. Rather than moving, she slowly slides off the couch in the most dramatic, graceful way possible, never breaking the ruse that she’s still totally, 100% asleep. It’s dedication, and it’s impossible not to laugh. Take a look!

@parkerxpinot

At least her fall off the couch was graceful 😂 #parkerandpinot #viral #fyp #fypage #goldenretriever

♬ original sound - Parker and Pinot

TikToker @parkerxpinot shared a video of a charming Golden Retriever named Pinot who knows how to commit to a bit, especially when sleep and attention are at risk. She's having the best time, doesn't want that to end, and fully knows the best strategy to extend the moment for as long as possible.

Respect to her for fully committing, too. Despite her mama getting up from their cuddle to gently encourage her to wake up, get off the couch, and go outside for a quick potty break, she holds on to the lie that she's asleep. Yes, even when gravity comes into play, she holds strong.

Sure, she fell off the couch in a pretty, graceful, and committed way. Pinot tried to stay "asleep," then tried to reason with her mom that it wasn't, in fact, time to go out. Even when she's on the floor, eyes open and tail wagging, nope... she's still "asleep."

In the comments, people had a good time defending Pinot and commiserating with the pup's mom with similar stories of their own.

One person wrote, "The comfy lip adjustments are my fav when you do them."

Another shared, "My puppers gets SO excited for a before-bed potty because he loves going to bed. Sometimes gets up to go potty and then afterward looks at me like, 'Let’s go, bedtime…' and it isn’t bedtime."

Someone else added, "How can they be so tired when 98% of the time all they do is sleep?"

Other comments included, "Ugh. I love me some sleepy mlems," "You better let that angel baby sleep," "Aww, how could u wake this adorable little thing up?" "The sleepy mlems mean—no pee, pee—just sleepy," "Goldens are soooo dramatic," "Listening? 0%. Love, hugs, and kisses? 1000000%," and "The sleepy kisses instead of moving ALWAYS."

One joked, "She was already sleeping... she stays in the spot until he gets home."

How Many Times Does a Dog Need To 'Go Outside?'

As a dog parent, there are some health things you should keep an eye on, including how many times they have to go pee. Since pooches go outside to pee, it's easier to track how often they do so. How many times is considered normal?

According to Purina, since all dogs are different, like people, there isn't one number that fits all pups, but it can be generalized based on your pet's age. For example, senior dogs might need to go out to pee more often because they don't hold their urine as well as younger dogs do.

Because of that, you'll want to make sure they have more chances to go outside. Puppies who are just learning to potty-train need more opportunities, too. When your dog is an adult and routines are established, you will probably get a good sense of how often your pup typically needs to use the bathroom.

Hopefully, your doggy won't be too sleepy to go outside for a bathroom break, making it a little easier on you than Pinot does on her mom.

Tiny Chihuahua's Dramatic Way of Demanding To Be Carried Down Steps Is So On-Brand

Sat, 01/31/2026 - 6:20pm

For whatever reason, some of the universe's tiniest furry soldiers have the biggest bones to pick with just about everyone and everything. There must be some kind of confidence fairy doling out a little extra dash to any pet under 5 pounds to help them survive or something. The rule is: The smaller the pup, the greater the fury, so if you have a petite prince or princess, sleep with one eye open!

Franklin, the Chihuahua, is the leader of this group, and he cannot possibly believe his loving, devoted human could leave him to suffer at the top of his doggy steps. Sure, he could turn around and take himself down, but that would be too easy, and Mom wouldn't learn her lesson!

Just wait until you see "bad boy" Franklin, because he is such a mood! He's not happy one bit that Mom is filming him instead of helping—take a look at all the drama!

As a dog mom to a rescue also named Franklin, I'm wondering if it's something in the name that makes them so sassy, because my Franklin also screams at me when he's frustrated!

As Taylor Swift says, the small Chihuahua has a list of names, and Mom's is in red underlined; she'd better watch out! Even after the pup, filled with unrelenting chaos, figures out how to get down by himself, he's still showing the attitude.

Franklin Screamed His Way to Internet Fame

Clearly, this boy was made for Hollywood with the level of theatrics involved in just about every conversation. He has a lot of big feelings and far more opinions. When Mom steps out of line, he gives it to her straight.

In one of his most viral videos, the funny pup "casts a spell" on Mom for reasons only he can understand. He's so passionate about what he's shouting, he nearly tips over!

It doesn't matter if Franklin wants help to go down his doggy stairs or if he's decided things need to change in *his* house. He's going to get the last word, so Mom had better sleep with one eye open just in case!
