Golden Retriever Claims Newborn's Blankie as 'His' and It's Pure, Wholesome Goodness

Thu, 02/05/2026 - 11:20am

If ever there was a job with the position as "Resident Smile Maker," a dog would be the top candidate for sure. They're rarely ever trying to make everyone say, "aww," but that's exactly what they end up doing—so don't even bother applying!

Loki, the Golden Retriever, is the pup for the job, having proven his unconditional love and steadfast loyalty to his humans, particularly the newborn baby. Though, they're going to have to work out an agreement with the baby's blanket, because that's Loki's "baby!"

A Golden Retriever looks at the camera while lying in a cozy bed.

Not a day goes by that a Golden Retriever like Loki isn't putting goodness into the atmosphere. He's a dose of optimism, all sunshine and roses, and the best big brother to his human siblings (as long as he gets to keep the blanket)!

@agoldendogmom

that blanket was Loki’s baby & did not leave his side for months 🥹 highly recommend taking your dog a baby blanket from the hospital.. can’t wait to do this again in a few months!! #dogs #tiktokdogs #dogsandbabies

♬ EVERLASTING LOVE - GROWS

To prepare Loki for a newborn baby, Mom and Dad offered the good boy the baby's hospital blanket. Since it had the little one's scent all over it, Loki could connect the comfort of that blanket with her once she came home. As you can see, he took the responsibility of caring for the treasured blanket and the infant seriously!

With his first day on the job, he wasn't about to fail and showed his parents he not only approved of a new baby, but quietly, he promised to be as gentle with her as he was with the blanket. The sweet video is definitive proof we don't deserve dogs!

Loki and Cosmo Are the Best Dog Siblings to Their Human Kids

As the oldest, Loki knows it's a great TK, but his bond with the baby has only strengthened over time. Golden Retriever brother, Cosmo, joined the gang shortly after the baby's birth, so they're all growing up together. It's been two years since Loki's blanket post, and he's about to do it all over again.

A November 2025 video shows the moment Mom reveals she's pregnant with the help of Loki, and it's too cute.

I have no doubt Loki will do just as good a job with the next baby as he did the first—as long as he gets to keep the blankie!

Discarded Breeder Dog Is Now Living Her Sweetest Life as One of the Girls

Thu, 02/05/2026 - 10:55am

There are stories about breeder dogs that break your heart. And then there are stories like this one that put it back together again. This gray-and-white Pit Bull went from being a discarded breeder dog living on the streets to finally experiencing what her new family calls “true girlhood.”

The viral video shows the sweet Pit Bull surrounded by women gently covering her in rhinestones and pink heart stickers while Taylor Swift’s song “Eldest Daughter” plays in the background. (Yes, bring tissues.) The caption reads, “Going from being a discarded breeder dog, living on the streets, to experiencing true girlhood,” and honestly, it hits.

@forlivandlemons

she’s just a girl! #pitbullsoftiktok #pittiesoftiktok #pitbull #mamadog

♬ som original - tayvis 🏹

The emotional TikTok clip, shared by @forlivandlemons, even had the official Barbie account commenting: “She was meant to live a girlhood life.” If that doesn’t tell you the vibe, nothing will.

Related: Sweet Rescue Dog Displays New Toys in Window Each Day and We're Melting

The dog’s expression says everything. She turns her head slowly so everyone gets a turn placing a sticker. At one point, she gives a tiny “mlem,” and the people in the comments lost it. “Even got a mlem out of her. She feels that love,” one person wrote. Another added, “I am sobbing. The love in her eyes.” Someone else said, “Her little face is heart-shaped,” and it really is.

You can see it. The way she looks at every single person around her. No fear. No flinching. Just softness. One commenter summed it up perfectly: “She absolutely radiates ‘what a good girl’ energy.”

And the internet agreed. “Not me literally sobbing over this sweet angel and the kind souls surrounding her…”

Same. Fully sobbing.

What Is a Breeder Dog? @cheezeballer1

Guys I can’t stop posting about bubbles she’s so perfect I’m obsessed

♬ sonido original - CaliMBIANOS

A breeder dog is a dog used for producing litters, often in commercial breeding operations. Sadly, some are discarded when they are no longer considered profitable. Many of these dogs have spent their entire lives having puppies with very little socialization, stability, or affection. Some have never lived in a home. Some have never been someone’s “baby.”

That’s why stories like hers hit so hard.

When breeder dogs are rescued, they often need patience, gentle handling, and time to learn that humans can be safe and kind. But once they settle in, they can be incredibly loyal, affectionate, and grateful in ways that honestly make you rethink everything.

If you want to help pups like her, consider adopting from a rescue that specializes in former breeder dogs or donating to your local shelter. Even fostering can change a life. Sometimes, all it takes is one soft landing and a group of people willing to cover a dog in pink stickers and tell her she’s perfect.

Because she always was.

Behind-the-Scenes Look at How Horses Travel by Airplane Is Fascinating

Thu, 02/05/2026 - 10:30am

TikTok viewers are fascinated by a behind-the-scenes look at how horses travel by airplane, revealing a surprisingly luxurious and carefully managed process. From custom-built stalls to dedicated in-flight care, the video shows that these frequent-flying horses are far more comfortable in the air than most people might expect.

The video is courtesy of The ARK, the animal reception center at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, and shows the high style in which these horses travel. A traditional cargo plane is converted for equine transport with trailer-style stalls. Each stall is complete with water, hay, and in-flight grooms to care for the horses' every need.

"Wish I could have my own stall while traveling," joked one viewer after seeing the well-appointed accommodations.

"How do I become a horse attendant?" jokes one person in the comments.

Another chimes in with “Would you like some hay, sir?"

It's a brief clip, but the account features other videos that further explain the horse transport process from arrival at the facility to departure of the plane. In addition to some being private pets, other horses are actually athletes, traveling to compete all over the world.

This video from 2024 features members of a U.S. Equestrian team preparing for their journey to the Paris Olympics:

♬ original sound - The ARK at JFK What is The ARK at JFK?

Only a handful of airports in the U.S. are equipped to transport horses, and one of them is JFK. The ARK is a "privately owned 24/7 animal reception center, equine quarantine facility, and full-service transportation center" located in the cargo area of the airport's campus. The facility also provides pre- and post-travel animal care and veterinary services for animals beyond just horses, such as dogs, cats, birds, non-domesticated mammals, and exotic animals.

In addition to acquiring the proper permits and health certificates, horses imported to the U.S. must quarantine for anywhere from 3 days to 60 days, depending on such factors as the country of origin and the reason for travel. This is where a place like The ARK comes in. Horses remain in the state-of-the-art facility until they complete their evaluation and are looked after by expert veterinary staff and highly-trained, caring handlers for the duration of their stay.

Chesapeake Bay Retriever Steals the Show at Westminster With One Crowd-Pleasing Move

Thu, 02/05/2026 - 10:10am

The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is known as the crown jewel of events in the canine world. Taking place every year since 1877, this year's beloved competition, presented by Purina Pro Plan, was recently held at Jacob K. Javits Convention Center & Madison Square Garden in New York City. A striking Doberman Pinscher named Penny won the coveted title of Best in Show.

Though Penny was center stage, Cota the Chesapeake Bay Retriever caught everyone's eye with an adorable dance after earning an impressive award of his own.

In the TikTok from @carolinekingdom, Cota was led around the ring by his handler and obeyed every command like a pro. The Chesapeake Bay Retriever was the picture of grace and enthusiasm as he exhibited his impressive intelligence and heartwarming personality.

Cota earned the Reserve Best in Show title, which is the runner-up ranking in the event. The precious pooch obviously felt honored by the recognition and treated the live audience and television viewers to a celebratory dance. Cota couldn't contain his excitement and even wanted to hold the ribbon all on his own.

"The crowd roared as Cota, the Chesapeake Bay Retriever, claimed the runner-up spot for Best in Show at Westminster last night," the caption explained from Good Dog's Facebook page. "But perhaps most notable was the moment he pranced off, carrying his ribbon in his mouth in a uniquely playful 'Chessie' kind of way."

The post noted a historical accomplishment by Cota for the breed and gave some background on his breeder, Adam Levy.

"Cota’s story starts with Good Dog breeder Adam Levy of Next Generation, who breeds, raises, and trains Chesapeakes in Chatfield, Minnesota," the caption shared. "His dogs are OFA cleared and health tested for issues common in the breed, family-raised, and bred for versatility, ability, and drive, carrying on the rich hunting history of the Chesapeake. Cota has already made history as the winningest Chesapeake in the breed’s history."

Are Chesapeake Bay Retrievers Rare?

Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, also called “Chessies,” are one of the most esteemed water dogs in the United States. Known for their strong stamina, high intelligence, and unwavering loyalty, these hardworking hunting dogs have a waterproof coat as well as relentless determination. Their strong work ethic is coupled with a loving and affectionate spirit, making them wonderful family pets.

Congrats to Cota on his big win!

Mama Dachshund Can’t Stop Babying Full-Grown Daughter in Precious Clip

Thu, 02/05/2026 - 10:00am

Mamas love their babies, right? That's supposed to be how it goes. Most of the time, it does, especially for dogs. For the 8 weeks between being born and going off to their forever homes, those puppies are her whole world.

If she's lucky, there will be one or two who stay behind. That's exactly what happened for one Dachshund, whose parents let her keep her favorite puppy. Clearly, she could not be any happier about it:

@jiiiimenam

that’s her baby 🥹 #dachshund #dogs #pets #petlover #fyp

♬ original sound - nia

Mena has 5 Dachshunds, or as she calls them, Weens. Out of the five of them, several are related! The one with the cast on actually recently became a big sister; her mom had one puppy late last year.

She's definitely milking the whole "broken leg" bit for more kisses from her mama, but luckily, her mama is more than happy to oblige her. She's okay, just got into a fight with one of the other Weens!

Related: Dachshund ‘Battles’ Cat Sister and the Winner Is So Clear

Most of the time, they get along pretty well. This was just a strange one-off incident, and their mom is taking steps to ensure that it never happens again. Unfortunately, even dogs who have cohabitated peacefully for years might fight over:

  1. A favorite toy.
  2. Food.
  3. Space for napping.

Most likely, they were fighting over who would be the first to snuggle the new puppy, Snickers. He's just too cute:

He was a singleton puppy, and Mena has already mentioned that she'll be keeping him. I'm so happy the family gets to stay together!

Mama Dogs Can Live With Their Puppies

While it's not necessary, and there's no harm in not keeping puppies as long as you find them loving homes, keeping them is an option. Some people think they'll fight as they age, but that's typically not true.

Mama dogs may turn on their puppies, but it's unlikely, as long as you provide proper:

  1. Exercise
  2. Meals
  3. Training
  4. Space

Littermates are more prone to fighting than mother/puppy pairs. Not this pair, though. They'd never put paws on each other!

Golden Retriever's Pure Disdain Over Winter Weather Will Have You Feeling Seen

Thu, 02/05/2026 - 9:32am

When the real feel hits negative six degrees, even the most enthusiastic golden boy has his limits. Meet Auggie, a Golden Retriever who perfectly captured everyone's winter mood while standing on a snowy New York City sidewalk looking absolutely over it.

Posted by @auggie.golden on TikTok, the video shows Auggie dressed for arctic conditions in a burgundy winter hat and hunter green wellies. Despite his adorable cold-weather gear, his expression says everything: "Oh hell naw."

The caption perfectly summarizes the situation: "Morning potty walk protest. Auggie says, " Oh, hell naw 😭🥶"

@auggie.golden

morning potty walk protest auggie says oh hell naw 😭🥶 #puppy #freezing #snow #nyc #viral

♬ gymnopédie no.1 - Edits

With text overlay reading "Real feel -6 degrees got us like 😭🥶🤨" Auggie stands motionless as snow falls around him, embodying every person who's ever had to venture outside during a polar vortex.

The comment section exploded with people who felt personally represented by this bundled-up pup. "Same bestie, same 😫" wrote one viewer, while another added, "The struggle is so real 😂"

Why Do Golden Retrievers Hate Cold Weather So Much?

Here's the funny part: Golden Retrievers were actually bred in Scotland for outdoor work, specifically retrieving waterfowl in cold water. These sturdy, medium-sized dogs were developed with dense, water-repellent coats designed for harsh conditions.

Yet, Auggie's protest proves that modern Golden Retrievers have opinions about winter weather—especially when it involves mandatory bathroom breaks at dawn in subzero temps.

"Omg, he's trying so hard to deal with it 🥹🥹😭" one commenter noted, perfectly capturing Auggie's valiant effort to tolerate the elements.

Goldens typically love outdoor activities and are known for their enthusiasm about pretty much everything. Swimming and fetching are natural favorites for this breed, which maintains playful, puppy-like energy well into adulthood.

Related: Moment Chocolate Labrador Puppies From Same Litter Recognize Each Other Is Pure Sweetness

But apparently, standing still on icy sidewalks at negative six degrees? That's where Auggie draws the line.

Viewers couldn't get enough of his outfit. "Absolutely rocking that fit 💅" praised one fan, while another called him "divine 💜." Several compared him to a babushka (Russian grandmother), noting his wise, world-weary expression.

"It's the face that says I wasn't going to dress up because I was just going to the store but I've ran in to everyone I know. 😂😊" joked one commenter, nailing the relatable energy.

Others offered solutions: "Oh puppy! Grab a latte and a little schnecken," suggested one viewer, while another demanded, "Get that good boy a pup cup stat!"

The real winner here? Auggie's commitment to letting his humans know exactly how he feels about winter morning potty walks. No words needed—just one perfectly grumpy golden face that speaks for cold-weather haters everywhere.

Stay warm out there, Auggie. We feel you.

Doberman Pinscher Who Won 150th Westminster Dog Show Just Made History

Thu, 02/05/2026 - 9:30am

Doberman Pinscher named Penny won Best in Show at the 150th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, making history at one of the world’s most prestigious dog competitions. Her handler’s emotional journey is part of the story—but Penny’s landmark victory is what truly sets this win apart.

It was an extraordinary year for the 150th anniversary of the show; it welcomed more than 2,500 canine competitors -- over 500 more than in 2025 -- representing over 200 recognized breeds. Because of this increase in participants, Penny had even more work cut out for her as she battled for the coveted top prize, first winning Best in Breed and Best in the Working Group.

@wkcdogs

History is made: Penny the Doberman Pinscher is the 2026 Best in Show winner at the 150th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. 🏆 A history-defining moment at @The Garden. #WestminsterDogShow #WKC150

The winners of all seven groups (Herding, Hound, Non-Sporting, Sporting, Terrier, Toy, and Working) then compete for the championship, Best in Show, which went to the prized Doberman (her official name is GCHP CH Connquest Best Of Both Worlds) and her veteran handler Andy Linton. Linton previously won Best in Show back in 1989 with the last Doberman to take home the championship, Indy.

Historic, yes, but Penny's win marked the achievement of a deeply personal goal for Linton, who battles Parkinson's disease, of being able to lead his beloved dog around the storied ring. He did so flawlessly.

Related: Alicia Silverstone Saves Terrier Mix Scheduled for Euthanasia and Gets the Sweetest Surprise

And the internet has fallen in love with lucky Penny.

"I knew she was going to win. She's a stunning animal," professes one fan.

"That’s the most perfect dog I’ve ever seen in my life," adds another.

They are also taken with Linton, as one follower proves in the comments, "This is a HUGE win for this man."

Indeed, it is.

The Life of a Show Dog

Show dogs may be known for their elegance and blue ribbons, but they aren’t the right fit for every dog parent. Raising a show dog requires an exceptional puppy (often from top breeding lines), plus a serious investment of time, money, and expertise.

Raising a show dog requires education and dedication regarding nutrition, conditioning, ongoing socialization, daily grooming, and specialized training. It is a job on top of the inherent joy of having a pet, but one that should be a labor of love. Even more importantly, however, it's the dog that needs to genuinely enjoy the ring — their happiness and well-being always come first.

For those deeply passionate about a specific breed, working with breed clubs, reputable breeders, and experienced trainers is essential. Many show dog parents devote a lifetime to the sport. It takes winning many smaller, breed-level competitions before qualifying to run with the big dogs at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.

'Scaredy-Cat' Golden Retriever ‘Bows Down’ to 'Tiny' Cat

Thu, 02/05/2026 - 9:00am

Cats and dogs are supposed to be enemies, but the truth is, they can get along just fine. As long as you follow all of the rules, introduce them slowly, and supervise, it's pretty hard for something to go wrong.

Hard, sure, but not necessarily impossible. For one Golden Retriever, all it took was a single swat for him to swear off the family kitten forever. Now, when the kitten gets near him, this boy knows to bow down:

@kayleehubly

poor baby #goldenretriever #goldenretrieverlife #cats #dog #dogsoftiktok

♬ original sound - Modern family clips

Kaylee Hubly has three dogs: two Golden Retrievers and a Goldendoodle. While all three dogs adore her, there's something special about this one, whose name is Murphy.

The special thing is that he is a total scaredy-cat. At 120 pounds, you might expect that he's:

  • Fearless.
  • In charge.
  • The "big brother" of the group.

He is... Kind of. When it comes to his dog siblings, Murphy is both large and in charge. However, when that cat comes around? He's basically rolling over!

Related: Golden Retriever Who ‘Boings’ Into His Sits Is the Most Excited Student

The cat is about 15 pounds, and he's been around since he was a kitten. The issue here is that, apparently, the kitten swatted at the 120-pound dog once, and that was just unforgivable.

His name is Charmin, which is hilarious. His mom chose that name for a few reasons:

  1. He's white.
  2. He's "ultra-soft."
  3. He looks a little bit quilted.

It's perfect for him. Up close, he's very handsome, too. I would let him swat me and not run away!

@kayleehubly

because he’s ultra soft of course 🤍 #kitty #toiletpaper #ashtrevino #brainrot #cat

♬ keepingupwithnunu - Clipzir 📸

He looks perfectly nice. He looks like he would love to befriend Murphy if Murphy would quit running away!

Golden Retrievers Can Be Anxious

Golden Retrievers are often regarded as one of the best, most versatile dogs in the world, and they are. However, it's important to remember that they require extensive training to keep them happy and healthy.

Although Golden Retrievers can be social, outgoing, and playful, they require proper socialization to reach their full potential. That might include:

  1. Trips to the dog park.
  2. Enrollment in doggy daycare.
  3. Neighborhood dog playdates.
  4. Socialization with their siblings.

Exposure to cats is best at a young age, too. Inevitably, there's going to be a swatting incident or two... wouldn't want it to scar them for life or anything!

Horse’s Day Filmed From His Own POV Feels Like Living Inside a Gentle Giant

We humans have been around horses for as long as we can remember, and yet, despite all this time together, these incredible animals can still feel very mysterious. They’re magical and move through the world with a quiet confidence that might make one wonder what they do when no one is watching. What is the world like from their perspective? And do they move about in a slow routine or invite more chaos when there are no eyes on them?

Well, one horse did us a solid and invited us to see "a day in the life" from his perspective, all thanks to a small camera attached to his halter. The result is that we get a quiet, immersive look at life through the eyes of a gentle giant. Gus enjoys the frost on the ground, taking a few opportunities to lick the frosty wood on the fences before going for a jaunt with his mom to some fresh grass, stopping at the water, and then hanging out with some friends.

Moment Chocolate Labrador Puppies From Same Litter Recognize Each Other Is Pure Sweetness

Thu, 02/05/2026 - 8:46am

Some dogs find their best friend at the park. Bucky and Ranger were born best friends—and now they get to stay that way forever.

A heartwarming TikTok video from @duffy.lainee shows two 12-week-old Chocolate Labrador brothers reuniting after adoption, and the connection between these littermates has the internet reaching for tissues.

Set to Noah James' cover of "Smaller Acts," the video captures something special: two puppies who clearly remember each other. Bucky and Ranger, both pure chocolate Lab males from the same litter, now share the same forever home.

@duffy.lainee

Meet Bucky and Ranger! They’re both pure Lab chocolate males, they will be 12 weeks on Monday. They’re brothers from the same littler and we are so glad they will forever have one another!😊❤️.Should I make a tiktok account for them? #dogmom #chocolatelab #spoileddog #brothers #fyp 🐾

"They're brothers from the same littler and we are so glad they will forever have one another!😊❤️," their owner wrote, with text overlay reading: "This is your sign to get the second dog."

The emotional post resonated deeply with viewers. Chocolate Labs are known for their friendly, playful personalities and eagerness to please—traits that make them wonderful family pets and fantastic companions for each other.

Can Littermates Actually Live Together Successfully?

Many people worry about "littermate syndrome"—concerns that puppies raised together might struggle with bonding or training. However, the comment section exploded with success stories proving otherwise.

"Here to say we have two dogs from the same litter and they are the best of friends, with proper training and socialization these boys will be so happy together❤," one experienced owner shared.

Another viewer confirmed: "I have 2 labs from the same litter and they are just fine. Everyone tried to talk me out of getting two as well. They will be the best of friends! 2 is better than 1 🥰"

Related: Tutu-Wearing Dachshund Celebrates Birthday With a Cheeseburger Like the Queen She Is

The key? Providing each puppy with individual training time, separate socialization experiences and personal attention. When done thoughtfully, raising littermates can create an incredible bond.

"Sending all the best energy to your family!! My littermate English labs are the most perfect duo and truly are so special! Congratulations!!" another commenter wrote.

Labs typically live 12-14 years, meaning Bucky and Ranger have over a decade of adventures ahead—swimming sessions, fetch marathons and probably some adorable mischief together.

One viewer captured the bittersweet emotions perfectly: "I had two from the same litter, the best dogs and loved each other so much 😭 I miss them everyday."

Others got inspired by the video: "I got the second dog. Then the third. And a fourth 🤣"

These highly active, social dogs thrive with plenty of exercise, engaging toys and—apparently—each other's company. For Bucky and Ranger, being reunited means having a built-in playmate who speaks the same puppy language.

Parrot’s ‘Splash Pad Fun Time’ Has Everyone Craving Summer

Thu, 02/05/2026 - 8:00am

Groundhog Day has come and gone, and unfortunately, Punxsutawney Phil says we're in for another six weeks of winter. I have major beef with him, to be honest. I just want spring weather! Is that too much to ask?

I've resorted to being legitimately jealous of a parrot. Recently, a stunning Blue and Gold Macaw got to have a splash pad of his very own, and it was awesome. If we can't have the summer vibes ourselves, this will have to do:

@birdsoup

For those who keep saying the water pressure was to harsh, my girl still prefers the shower over this 💅🏼 #parrot #bird #birdsoftiktok #macaw #real

♬ Nintendogs Bath - The Weens

Willow the Blue and Gold Macaw is everything to me. She's beautiful, she's sassy, and she's a great big sister. There are five birds in this flock, including:

  1. Willow, a Blue and Gold Macaw.
  2. Ahri, a Conure.
  3. Another unnamed Conure.
  4. Azul, an Indian Ringneck Parrot.
  5. A baby Eclectus Parrot whose name hasn't been shared yet.

Most of them are rescues, and their mom is a huge advocate for keeping birds fully flighted (not clipping their wings). The flock lives together in Australia: it's summer there!

Australia is a pretty dry place, and the birds in this house are all from naturally more humid areas. While they can and do live healthy, happy lives in Australia, you need to make sure they're getting all of the humidity they need.

One of the best ways to do that is with water play. Willow's mom set up a splash pad, but you could also use a hose, a pool, or even just your bathtub. Additionally, a climate-controlled room is essential... But not to Willow, who only cares for her splash time:

She is the cutest. This video was taken during a heatwave; I'm glad their mom did her best to help them all out!

Birds Need Baths

Even if your bird doesn't need or want splashpad time every day, they do need constant access to fresh, clean water. You may need to clean and change it several times a day, because they:

  • Drink it.
  • Bathe in it.
  • Relieve themselves in it.

Birds might require a slightly more involved "bath" if they get dirty, though they typically won't. They'll take care of cleaning themselves as long as you provide the water... And they'll entertain themselves if you provide the splash pad!

German Shepherd Puppy Uses the Water Bowl as a Pillow, and It’s Just Too Funny

Thu, 02/05/2026 - 7:33am

There’s just something about puppies that can instantly change our mood. Their innocence, goofiness, and unfiltered joy have a way of making even the most ordinary moments feel extra special.

For German Shepherd Puppy Mikasa, that charm is on full display in the most unexpected place: her water fountain.

As it turns out, Mikasa’s drinking bowl isn’t just for sipping. It’s also, apparently, a perfectly acceptable place to nap. The result is a scene that's oddly peaceful and funny, making it hard not to laugh while watching.

You can see Mikasa’s unexpected moment of zen in a January 31 TikTok shared by @mikasa_gsd808.

View this post on Instagram

With her face resting right on top of the fountain as the water gently swirls beneath her, Mikasa looks completely content. Many German Shepherds are known for their love of water, and she’s clearly leaning into that reputation. She’s the picture of pure puppy bliss, eyes soft, body relaxed, completely unbothered by the fact that she’s getting a little damp in the process.

Related: German Shepherd Puppy Brings Sprinkler Inside and Turns the House Into a Splash Zone

Even after she realizes she’s being filmed, Mikasa doesn’t move a muscle. Instead, she stays right where she is, soaking it all in like she’s enjoying a spa day. Maybe it’s the sound of the water, the cool sensation on her face, or just one of those puppy quirks that doesn’t need an explanation to be delightful.

As it turns out, this isn’t a new habit. In a February 1 Instagram post, Mikasa can be seen cozying up to the fountain back when she was much smaller.

View this post on Instagram

Judging by the comments, Mikasa’s fans understood her mood. Viewer @jackattackya wrote, “This is the most GSD thing I’ve ever seen. Even the paw tuck.”

While @clairexstone_ joked, “In her dreams she’s a mermaid!”

And @obviously_ambs added, “She’s just a GSD being a GSD. Mine sleeps with her head in the puddle she creates by her water bowl for the fun of it. They just love water and are giant weirdos.”

German Shepherd Puppy Behavior

According to the American Kennel ClubGerman Shepherds are well known for their intelligence, confidence, and playful nature. The breed was developed for herding and working roles that required both mental and physical engagement.

Because of this, German Shepherds tend to be naturally curious about their environment, and often seek out activities or sensations that interest them, whether that’s water play, toys, or interaction with people. Young GSDs, in particular, sometimes explore the world with their whole bodies, including their faces, which can result in quirky, affectionate, or unexpected behaviors, such as resting in moving water.

In Mikasa’s case, it’s just another reminder that puppies don’t need much to be happy. Sometimes, all it takes is a cool splash, a quiet moment, and a water bowl that doubles as the world’s coziest pillow.

Dachshund Who Hates His Crate Willingly Climbs Inside to Be Near Fur Baby Brother on Bed Rest

Thu, 02/05/2026 - 7:10am

My senior Dachshund and her Pug brother have very different personalities, yet they're inseparable. She's the more reserved of the two, while her younger sibling is full of playful energy and can get a little out of hand. While they sometimes bicker and she has no problem putting him in his place when necessary, the two siblings have an unbreakable bond and always have each other's backs.

Theo the Dachshund is a beautiful example of how siblings support each other, where he put his own feelings aside for his brother's sake.

@rachobie

Two days in (only 3-4 weeks left🥲) of strict crate rest for Mr Finnegan after some new back pain (veryyyyyyy early and mild) - Theo HATES his crate but went in for the first time in forever and stayed in all morning just sitting with Finn and checking on him😭🤍 #dachshund #ivdd #weenie #dog #dogsoftiktok

♬ What Was I Made For? (Epilogue) [Instrumental Version] - Mark Ronson & Andrew Wyatt

In the TikTok from @rachobie, Theo sniffed at a crate that his fur baby brother, Finn, was resting in. Finn was recently diagnosed with canine intervertebral disc disease (IVDD) and needed to stay in his crate.

The crate right next to Finn's was technically Theo's, but the caption revealed he didn't use it that much and actually avoided it for long periods of time. Sensing his brother needed support while contending with his health issue, Theo disregarded his own discomfort just to be next to his sibling.

"Strict crate rest for Mr. Finnegan after some new back pain (very early and mild)," the caption explained. "Theo HATES his crate, but went in for the first time in forever and stayed in all morning just sitting with Finn and checking on him."

Theo climbed into the crate and looked at Finn, almost as if to say, "I'm right here, bro", and lay down to support his brother.

Certain Breeds Are Prone to IVDD

This condition in dogs occurs when the discs that cushion the bones of the spinal column burst or bulge and press on the spinal cord, causing extensive pain, nerve damage, and sometimes paralysis.

Breeds with a long back and short legs are predisposed to IVDD. These include:

  • Dachshunds
  • Beagles
  • French Bulldogs
  • Basset Hounds
  • Lhasa Apso
  • Pekingnese
  • Shih-Tzu

Related: Dachshund Dad Steps in to Shower Puppy With Love After Mom Dies the Day He Was Born

Some large breed dogs like German Shepherds or Pit Bulls can also experience IVDD.

Fortunately, Finn's diagnosis is very early Stage 1 IVDD and should improve after a few weeks of crate rest. Theo will probably be right by his side the entire time.

Moment Great Pyrenees Finally Sees Dad After a Year Apart Will Have You Sobbing

Thu, 02/05/2026 - 6:20am

Some airport reunions involve flowers and balloons. This one involves 100+ pounds of fluffy emotion and a Great Pyrenees named Ritchie.

The TikTok video starts in the car, with Ritchie settled in the backseat, that calm, regal Pyrenees posture on full display. He doesn’t know exactly what’s happening, but you can tell he knows it’s important—ears alert, eyes bright, body leaning just a little bit forward. It’s like he’s riding toward something his heart remembers, even if his brain hasn’t caught up yet.

@ritchiethepyr

This video was 5 years ago… when we first decided Ritchie needed his dad around too. We’ve had multiple reunions ever since.. and about to have another one for Ritchie’s 9th bday in a couple weeks, even living in different States, we make it work, for our boy. 🥹💚 #ritchiethepyr

♬ original sound - Ritchie

Then we cut to the airport.

Ritchie pads through the terminal, a big white cloud of a dog trotting, soaking in all the sights and sounds. The caption tells us what’s coming: “Ritchie seeing his dad after 1 year.” One year. That’s a lot of missed walks, missed snuggles, and silent spaces where a familiar voice used to be.

At first, he spots someone ahead, and you can see the question mark form in his body. His pace changes. His head tilts. There’s this split second where his whole posture says, Wait… do I know that human?

And then it hits.

View this post on Instagram

Recognition explodes across his face, and his little trot turns into a full-on, big dog gallop. The video slips into slow motion as Ritchie barrels forward, ears bouncing, tail trying to out-wag his entire back end. He pulls toward his dad like gravity just got stronger, like every day of that year apart suddenly snaps tight into this one moment.

Dad drops down to meet him, and it’s chaos in the best possible way—fur, arms, happy sounds you can feel more than hear. You can see airport workers in the background stopping what they’re doing, phones out, grinning as they capture the reunion too. For a brief moment, baggage claims and flight delays don’t matter. It’s just a dog and his person, whole again.

The most moving part? This isn’t some simple “owner and dog” setup. Ritchie’s people are sharing custody—navigating distance, logistics, and all the complicated feelings that come with it. And yet, watching this, you can tell they’re doing it right. Ritchie isn’t confused or shut down. He’s overjoyed. This is a dog who knows he is loved in more than one place.

If you’ve ever had to leave a pet for longer than you wanted to, this video lands like a punch straight to the heart. Dogs don’t do calendars. They do connection. For Ritchie, that year apart melts into seconds the moment he sees his dad again.

View this post on Instagram Why This Reunion Hits So Hard

Watching Ritchie go from cautious trot to full-speed, tail-wagging gallop the second he realizes who is standing in that airport isn’t just cute — it is a crash course in how deeply dogs bond to “their” person. That split-second body language shift, the way he presses in and can’t get close enough, is what researchers call a secure attachment, and it doesn’t disappear just because life forces time and distance between visits.

Behavior experts point out that dogs tend to choose a favorite human based on consistent care, positive experiences, and emotional safety — not who happens to be around that day or who bought the last toy. Pet Insurance Review breaks it down beautifully: dogs gravitate toward the person who shows up for them with attention, affection, and calm, steady leadership, over and over again.

A year apart might change routines, but it doesn’t erase the history of walks, comforts, and shared everyday life. For dogs like him — and like my own Lola, who would absolutely launch herself across a concourse if she spotted her favorite people — love is not about the calendar. It is about who has proven, again and again, to be home.

Chiweenie Mix’s Dumbo Ears Are Adorably Out of Control

Wed, 02/04/2026 - 8:55pm

If you have ever met a Chiweenie mix, you already know they come with personality turned all the way up. But this merle Chiweenie named Ollie came with something extra. Ears. Massive ones. The kind that look like they might actually be able to help him take flight, like Dumbo.

The adorable Chiweenie puppy has a mottled black-and-gray merle coat and two giant Dumbo ears that are absolutely out of control. The caption reads, “Don’t worry, he’ll grow into his ears,” and I regret to inform everyone that he did not. A second caption jokes, “My dog’s DNA shows that he’s equal parts bat, rabbit, and gremlin,” and honestly? Science checks out.

@bygollymisterollie

♬ original sound - Ollie

The sweet clip was shared on TikTok by @bygollymisterollie. It shows Ollie as a tiny puppy with comically oversized ears, and then it cuts to him slightly older with… the exact same situation. The ears did not shrink. The head did not catch up. They are still living their best independent life.

Related: Adorable One-Eared Kitten Has the Cutest Lopsided Head

People in the comments are fully in love with Ollie. “I love his colors!” one person wrote. Another added, “Oh, he’s so adorable!” Someone else said, “That looks very Corgi Dachshund. Maybe I’m an impartial judge, but that’s what I see.” And honestly, the internet cannot agree on what he is, but everyone agrees on one thing. The ears are everything.

One person summed it up perfectly: “He’s always been perfect just the way he is!” Which is exactly the energy Ollie is giving. Zero shame. Maximum ear.

We have a Pomeranian, and when he was a puppy, his paws were bigger than his entire body, and I thought he might tip forward at any moment. They grow so fast, it’s offensive. So if you have a puppy with ridiculous proportions, just lean in. Take the photos. Celebrate the chaos. One day, you’ll blink, and they’ll be fully grown and still somehow stealing your socks.

Is a Chiweenie the Right Breed for You? @babayagita

♬ Me and My Pet - Eitan Epstein Music

A Chiweenie is a mix between a Chihuahua and a Dachshund, which basically means you get a big personality in a small body. They are often loyal, clingy, dramatic, and deeply devoted to their people. They can also be stubborn and loud if not trained early. If you want a small dog with giant opinions and even bigger ears, a Chiweenie might be your perfect match.

Golden Retriever Puppy Frolicking in the Snow Will Make You Love Winter Again

Wed, 02/04/2026 - 8:20pm

When it is frigid outside, and you are sick of the cold, it can be easy to get a little depressed.

We're past seasonal affective disorder and officially in the winter of our discontent.

This is why you have to look for some happy winter things, like an adorable Golden Retriever puppy frolicking for the first time in the snow!

This is exactly the winter sweetness we need, and luckily, @claudia.harrington was willing to share a video of her beautiful Golden Retriever puppy, Ralph, experiencing his first snow day.

First, we see Ralph in his blue sweater with his squishy little face being held by his mom, who has a similar blue sweater on, walking in the snow.

The puppy seems to be enjoying the snow, albeit slightly confused.

Cut to him walking in the snow as his dad comes outside to greet him. He picks him up, and they enjoy more of the snow together.

Then it's back to some solo snow shots of Ralph once again, and our hearts are literally melting.

He walks in the snow a bit more, and then at the end of the video, it looks like the little baby is ready for some downtime as he lies down in the snow near his mom.

Time to go inside for hot cocoa and to sit by the fire!

Set to The Ronettes' hit "Be My Baby," this is the perfect video.

@claudia.harrington

Welcome home Ralph🩵❄️ #goldenretriever #puppytiktok #puppylife #goldenretrieverpuppy #ralphthegolden

♬ Be My Baby - The Ronettes

From this account, it looks like Ralph is only a little over 8 weeks old and was just recently brought to his forever home.

His mom is also a big-deal chef and baker, so it looks like we know Ralph will be getting some delicious treats in his future.

Do Puppies Get Colder in the Snow Than Adult Dogs?

The question is, do puppies get colder in the snow than adult dogs? The answer is yes.

Unlike their fully grown friends, puppies have immature thermoregulation systems, so they can't control their body temperature as efficiently as an adult dog.

And though it looks like Ralph has plenty of floofy hair to keep him warm, puppies have less fat than adult dogs, which can also lead to them being colder.

Puppies under 8 weeks old are especially vulnerable to the cold.

Clingy Dachshund Puppy Jumps on the Shower Glass and It’s Adorable

Wed, 02/04/2026 - 7:55pm

Any parent with a toddler knows you cannot sneak off to the bathroom for 30 seconds of peace without someone pounding on the door like it is a fire drill. Turns out, getting a puppy is exactly the same thing, just furrier and louder.

This tiny Dachshund puppy named Bear has decided that shower time is a crisis event. And honestly? He is not handling it well. At all.

@adoxienamedbear

He thinks if he jumps into the glass one more time it’ll disappear 😅 #newpuppy #minidachshund #dogsoftiktok #newdogmom #dachshund

♬ Little Life - Robert Gromotka

The hilarious TikTok clip from @adoxienamedbear has the caption, “POV: Trying to shower, but you just got a puppy.” In the video, Bear stands outside the shower crying dramatically and repeatedly launching himself at the glass as if he's either trying to save his mom or trying to break the door down.

Related: Golden Retriever Needs His Favorite Stuffed Animal While Taking a Bath and Everyone's Melting

The comments are chaos. “He’s trying to save you!” one person joked. Another added, “Poor guy thinks you’re drowning!” Someone else admitted, “We will see tomorrow how mine acts. My fiancé made the mistake of putting her on the bed, and now she cries if we're in bed and she isn't up here. First night is going a bit rough.”

And then the best part? Puppy mom commented, “I gave in,” and showed herself soaking wet, wrapped in a towel, holding Bear. I respect it. I truly do.

Even now that my daughter is in class, Kingston still follows me around like a tiny lost duckling. Bathroom? He is there. Kitchen? There. Existing in my own home? Absolutely not unsupervised. Clingy puppy energy does not expire just because they grow up.

How To Help a Puppy With Separation Anxiety @simonsits

Simon went from having TERRIBLE separation anxiety to none at all 🫶

♬ original sound - Isabel Klee

If your puppy panics the second you disappear, you are not alone. Puppies are social, and new environments can feel scary. Start by practicing short separations and rewarding calm behavior. Give them safe toys or enrichment when you leave the room. Avoid making big, dramatic exits and returns. And most importantly, be patient. Many puppies outgrow this stage with consistency and reassurance.

Until then, expect a tiny hot dog to supervise every shower you take.

Angry Persian Cat Looks Like a Gremlin and People Can't Get Enough

Wed, 02/04/2026 - 7:20pm

You can’t judge a book by its cover.

This certainly holds true for one cat who, despite her tough exterior, is probably a wonderful, sweet pet.

But I have to be honest, this gal looks like she has some serious attitude! Or is it cat-itude?

“My cat, when people tell her she looks like a gremlin,” said the mamma of Belle, the Persian cat, on TikTok.

@lulu_belle_mittens

Look at that face! I can see how Belle might not take too kindly to being compared to a gremlin. I will say, however, the first thing I noticed was Belle’s uncanny likeness to Oscar the Grouch from Sesame Street!

And remember Grumpy Cat? Play your cards right, Belle, and you could be the world’s next pouty internet darling!

Fans couldn’t get enough of this gal and had lots to share on TikTok.

“Grumpy Cat turned up a notch!” said a viewer.

“And I bet she’s the sweetest girl,” added another person.

“She has the facial expression of a Monday,” chimed in a third viewer.

I totally agree about the Monday face! I see Belle as a Monday meme.

“I am obsessed with her!” another fan said. “She is the cutest angry-looking cat I've ever seen!”

What Are Persian Cats Known For?

Persian cats are renowned for their luxurious coats, distinctive flat faces, and calm temperaments. Often considered ideal, low-energy lap cats, they are known for their quiet demeanor, social nature, and preference for lounging in serene, indoor environments.

And let’s be honest, many of them have a naturally disapproving stare that just can’t be overlooked. It really is cute and hilarious.

Belle, of course, is queen of the Persians in this regard, as her face screams, “Don’t mess with me!”

I’m sure that beneath that bristly exterior lies a perfectly sweet and gentle feline, but I must say that I was taken aback by this gal. What a death stare she has!

With that, I will keep an eye out for Belle because I truly think she has that special something that could turn her into an internet sensation!

Tiny Ragdoll Kittens Trying To 'Bust Out of Jail' Are So Full of Sass

Wed, 02/04/2026 - 6:55pm

If you put a bunch of curious kittens together, there's bound to be some trouble. As adorable as they are when they're small, their high levels of energy and determination make for some entertaining antics. What could they possibly get into next?

That's the question all the Ragdollcat moms are wondering as they gather around to watch their collective crew of kittens try to escape "jail," and it's a nail-biter!

A Ragdoll kitten runs down the stairs.

The new update shared by @pearlsragdolls shows the sassy, screaming kittens trying to come up with an escape plan. They don't give two hoots that their moms are watching. You can tell they've decided to make this happen, somehow—it's only a matter of time!

The kittens are now in kitten jail

♬ original sound - Pearl’s Ragdolls

I don't know who could look at those Ragdoll angels screaming with their little pink toe beans on the glass and not pick them up for a snuggle! They're ridiculously cute, which is kind of dangerous if you think about it, because they know how to work the system to make the big things happen!

Still, the end of the 48-second clip is telling. What are Heidi and Apple discussing? Does it involve letting the kittens loose? Luckily, they have quite the following to interpret!

"We are innocent!" one fan wrote in their defense. "We want to be free!" another added. "Your cotton balls are becoming sentient," another joked.

Related: Doting Ragdoll Cat Mom Insists on Relocating Newborn Kittens to Favorite Hot Spot on Repeat

This Ragdoll Litter Has Extra Spice

There's almost always an adorable new Ragdoll litter running around in Pearl's house, but the crew planning to bust out of jail is built a little differently. Maybe in the womb, they were gifted with an extra couple dashes of spice or a big scoop of fearlessness, but even some of the older resident cats like Peaches aren't fans of how bold this group is.

These babies do whatever they want when freed from jail, no apologies! It's probably why they're in jail, TBH.

@pearlsragdolls

Peaches is also not a fan of the kittens

♬ original sound - Pearl’s Ragdolls

Like I said, this litter was made with something extra. Give it time, and I'll bet at least one of them finds a way to get out of jail, and then the others will follow. They're so precious though, so who cares—let them out!

Horse's Sweet Obsession With Cats Is So Adorable, We Can't Handle It

Wed, 02/04/2026 - 6:21pm

My dog Lola only acknowledges horses if they’re safely trapped inside the TV, so watching a real horse choose cats as his emotional support squad feels like another universe. In Nairobi the horse’s world, though, barn cats aren’t background characters—they’re his favorite little cuddle magnets.

The TikTok video opens with Nairobi in the barn, lowering his huge head toward a small barn cat. Instead of spooking or bolting, the cat just sort of… accepts their fate. You can almost hear the cat sigh, “Here we go again.”

@horse.nairobi

What’s your horse’s weird obsession? Mine is cats✨ #horse #paard #equestrian #cats #cute

♬ original sound - Mike Brigandi

In the next shot, Nairobi has upgraded to a two-cat setup. Two barn cats sit while this giant horse leans in between them, gently pressing his forehead against their tiny bodies. One viral comment absolutely nails the vibe: barn cats are basically saying, “Sure, you can lay your 40 million pound head on me, I guess.” It’s chaos by scale, but the energy? Pure tenderness.

What’s so sweet is how relaxed everyone is about it. Nairobi isn’t nipping or crowding; he’s soft-eyed, slow-blinking, breathing them in like they’re his emotional support staff. The cats, for their part, are peak barn cat—cool, permissive, maybe a little over it, but clearly comfortable. This is not their first horse smooch. It’s weirdly domestic and completely charming.

There’s something quietly magical about horse–cat friendships. Barn life can be busy, noisy, and cold, but tucked into that chaos, you get moments like this: a 1,000-plus-pound grazing animal choosing to be gentle, and a few scrappy cats deciding to trust that gentleness.

Lola would 100% sound the alarm if a horse tried to park its head on her shoulder, but I have to admit, watching Nairobi and his cat crew makes me wish she had her own barn buddy to squish.

When Barn Cats and Horses Become Besties

Nairobi and his feline fan club are such a perfect snapshot of interspecies friendship. Two very different animals sharing space, trust, and even a little physical affection. Stories like this aren’t rare on farms; cats and horses often fall into an easy companionship while sharing barns, pastures, and people. Greater Good’s feature on a farm cat who literally rides his horse friend around the property shows how these bonds can grow out of routine and simple curiosity into true partnerships built on comfort and mutual benefit.

If a thousand-pound horse can choose gentleness and cat cuddles every day, the rest of us can probably manage to be a little softer with the world too.
