This Tuxedo Cat Saw a Cat Statue and Immediately Chose To Make It Everyone's Problem
I have watched enough reality television to know exactly what happened here.
This Tuxedo cat took one look at a decorative cat statue and reacted the same way two Real Housewives react when they arrive at the same event wearing identical gowns. Apparently, there was only room for one fabulous feline in this house, and somebody forgot to tell the statue.
@exe_neuroTerritory defense mode: ACTIVATED
♬ original sound - EXEThe hilarious video, shared by @exe_neuro on TikTok, shows a Tuxedo cat perched on a console table having an absolute meltdown over a decorative kitty statue. The caption reads, "Defense mode: activated," which feels pretty accurate considering the amount of hissing and yowling involved.

The poor statue never even moved, but that didn't stop the offended cat from making his feelings known.
Cats are so funny because they can become deeply invested in the strangest things. My Maine Coon, Meatball, is generally pretty laid back, but my senior cat, Tarkus, has reached the age where he occasionally stares suspiciously at absolutely nothing. Meanwhile, my sweet Calico, Elvis, is mostly concerned with making sure nobody forgets dinnertime. I could absolutely see one of them deciding a statue was a personal enemy.
TikTok viewers were cracking up at the drama.
"Maybe there is a spirit inside that cat figurine. Cats can see paranormal entities," one person joked.
"So dramatic!" wrote another viewer.
"One angry cat!" someone else added.
Others simply declared, "This is too funny."
One commenter may have had the most relatable response of all, writing, "My mother-in-law when she first met me."

♬ Funny video "Carmen Prelude" Arranging weakness(836530) - yo suzuki(akisai)While humans can immediately recognize the difference between a real animal and a decorative object, cats rely on much more than eyesight to understand their surroundings. Since statues and figurines don't smell like real animals and don't move naturally, some kitties become confused or defensive when they encounter them.
According to experts, unfamiliar objects that resemble animals can trigger cautious behavior because cats are programmed to evaluate potential threats. Some felines ignore these items completely, while others decide the only reasonable response is to announce their concerns to the entire household.
Fortunately, most cats eventually realize the strange object poses no danger and move on to more important matters, like demanding treats and knocking pens off tables.

Someone Made the Most Hilarious Observation About the Way Dachshunds Walk, and Now We Can't Unsee It
Many breeds of dogs are know for their quirks, but few come with more personality in delightfully small packages than a Dachshund. Expressive, moody, sassy, and full of spunk, dachshunds are notorious (in the best way!) for being a dog that will keep any human on their toes.
@oliveyoufreddie is an account dedicated to documenting living with a full pack of this low and lively pups. Recently, they shared a video showing off the silly way dachshunds walk, and it's too funny to handle. One you see it, you can't unsee it.
View this post on InstagramTheir little legs move so quick it's like they're worried about being late for work!
Commenters got a kick out of the video, shared to Instagram, and chimed in with their own little quips.
"Let’s pick up the pace 😂"
"That waddle is just the best! 😍😍😍😍"
"Always on a mission. ❤️😅"
Why Dachshunds are So QuirkyScientifically speaking, dachshunds are quirky and particular partially due to their breeding to be badger hunters. Their notorious "stubborn" dispositions are actually just pure determination. When a dachshund locks in on something, it's really difficult to get them away from it. Combined with their high intelligence, they'll often find their own fun so they'll never be bored or unstimulated.
Some other personality traits dachshunds are known for:
- They love to burrow in part because of their history hunting in tunnels.
- Their sharp bark came from needing to alert hunters to their whereabouts.
- They're fiercely independent thinkers.
- They're very observant and have the classic "doxie stare."
- They'll go to any length to get their person's attention.
Anyone who is a fan of an original, silly, loving, and quirky dog is sure to love a dachshund. Just don't get in their way when they're on a mission. Those short, little legs will run you right over!

6 Subtle Ways Your Dog Silently Asks for Love, According to Behaviorists
Dogs are very expressive companions, and they often communicate their internal states through a complex tapestry of body language and vocalizations. Many of their more wild behaviors, such as "zoomies" or a playful tilt of the head after getting into a bit of harmless mischief, serve as a source of laughter and joy. However, not every expression is meant for just entertainment. Occasionally, these behaviors are signals that a dog is seeking something much deeper than a pat on the head or a quick kiss before heading out the door.
While most dogs have mastered the art of demanding dinner or staging a dramatic tantrum when their toy rolls under the couch, they also frequently signal a profound need for emotional connection in ways that are much easier to miss. Because our furry friends lack the capacity to simply tell us when they are feeling lonely or understimulated, they have to rely on sending you subtle cues to make their feelings known—and it's up to you to recognize them.

Learning to interpret these signs is not merely about providing a few extra scratches behind the ears; it’s important for catering to a dog’s emotional and mental well-being. Plus, deciphering these signs can help strengthen the unique bond between you and your pup. While a happy dog might be satisfied with snuggles, periods of high stress, environmental changes or underlying anxiety may leave them desperately seeking some extra reassurance to feel safe.
Ultimately, becoming fluent in your dog's specific love language ensures that you can provide the exact level of support and comfort they need to thrive by your side. Here are the ways your dog may be trying to tell you they need a bit more attention and love, straight from animal experts.
How Dogs Actually Communicate AffectionNick Fewings/Unsplash
While every pet parent might note unique ways their dog likes to show affection, in general, most dogs will show their affection by proximity, body language and social behavior, according to Mikayla Morris, CPDT-KA, and a member of Dogtopia’s Canine Behavior Expert Council.
“One of the strongest signs of affection is voluntary proximity,” Morris says. “In animal behavior, choosing to remain close to another individual when there is not an obvious reward is considered an indicator of social bonding and trust.”
According to Morris, some of the more obvious signs include tail wagging, physical contact like leaning or licking you, following you around, and sleeping near you.
While every dog might have their own specific ways of showing love, these behaviors are the more general signs you can look out for to see if your furry friend is showcasing their love for you.
Why Your Dog Doesn't Always Demand PetsAllan N/Unsplash
Although humans may have gotten used to petting any and every dog they meet, it’s not always a welcome sign to dogs. Some dogs don’t demand or want pets, and it has nothing to do with you personally.
According to Dr. Annie Valuska, Purina pet behaviorist and certified applied animal behaviorist, “Just like people, individual dogs have different preferences for how much physical contact they want from humans! This can be affected by a dog’s genetics, their experiences and most likely a combination of both.”
Dr. Valuska adds that each dog’s emotional state can also determine how much ‘personal space’ they want. While at first they might be cuddly, a change to a less favorable environment or sudden changes in events may cause them to want to be on their own for a bit.
Signs Your Dog Is Asking for LoveVictor G/Unsplash
Morris says that dogs may ask for love in the same ways they show it. This includes behaviors like:
- Nosing your hand
- Putting a paw on you
- Leaning against you
- Resting nearby
- Following you around
- Making eye contact from where they are
For dogs, physical touch means they hold you in very high regard, so if they’re willingly seeking physical touch from you, they're asking for more love from you.
Although these six subtle signs might not be the only ways they’re asking for attention, they are some of the usual cues you can look out for in your pup.

How to 'Speak Dog' and Return the Affection on Their TermsDesign Wala/Unsplash
To properly return affection to dogs, it’s vital to know the signs that they are uncomfortable first. “The term for these appeasement behaviors is ‘calming signals,’ and dogs use them to express discomfort with what’s happening and attempt to create more distance,” Dr. Valuska says.
Behaviors like turning their head away, hard blinking, lip or nose licking, freezing, yawning, licking the person (also known as a “kiss to dismiss”), pinning their ears back, panting, biting, growling and barking are just a few stress signals Dr. Valuska says to look out for. If your furry friend exhibits any of these while you’re petting them, it’s best to give them some space.
On the other hand, dogs may appreciate affection in the form of “mutual play sessions, chest rubs, soft verbal praise and training/enrichment sessions,” Morris says.
The 3-Second Rule: How to Tell If Your Dog Actually Wants More PetsChewy/Unsplash
While they may not be able to verbally tell you, dogs tend to be very open in letting humans know if they’re enjoying an interaction or not. Known as the 3-second rule. Dr. Valuska explains it as the notion of frequently pausing and assessing a dog’s behavior to see if they’re still enjoying the interaction.
“During that pause, momentarily withdraw contact,” Dr. Valuska says. “If the dog freezes, disengages, or creates more space by turning or moving away, that’s a sign that they’d probably prefer for the petting to end. On the other hand, if the dog nudges your hand, scooches closer or otherwise tries to get your attention back on them, then they’d likely appreciate more petting!”
Paying attention to these subtle cues is important not only for keeping your dog’s boundaries, but also for letting them know that you respect their personal space.
Affection vs. Anxiety: When Clinginess Signals a ProblemYevhen Stienin/Unsplash
Although at times pet parents can joke about having a ‘clingy’ dog, sometimes it’s a sign of more serious emotional issues.
“Sometimes excessive clinginess can indicate stress, fear or anxiety," Morris says. "A key sign to look for is your dog's ability to relax independently. A confident dog will enjoy being near you, but should be able to self-soothe and settle if you are occupied, while anxious dogs will struggle to cope without their human present.”
If you happen to find that your dog struggles to be alone, Dr. Valuska recommends consulting your veterinarian and a credentialed dog behavior expert, as separation anxiety is unlikely to resolve on its own and may worsen over time.
While every pet parent is confident in the amount of love they give to their pups, it’s important to take a step back and evaluate what your furry friend is really trying to tell you. Even if some of these subtle signs may have gone unnoticed, it’s never too late to learn about your dog’s behavior and what they may need from you.

The Look Every Dog Dad KnowsThe moment you start getting ready to leave the house, your dog is already standing by the door. They wag their tail, lock their eyes on you, and try to show you they are ready to come too.
But some small dogs do not have the stamina for some trips. Apartment dogs like Maltese, bichon frise, French bulldog and Pomeranian quickly become exhausted. Their tiny legs are not built for walking more than a few miles.
The Heart to Tail backpack at Aldi lets you explore local events without worrying about whether your dog can handle it. Instead of cutting your day short and rushing home to your pet, you can now bring him along.
For many pet parents, that is the difference between planning activities around their dog's limitations and enjoying the day together.

Tiny Kitten Won't Nap Anywhere but on His Giant Golden Retriever Friend
Adding a new pet to the family can be exciting and stressful at the same time. There's no guarantee that everyone is going to get along at first (or ever), but that's clearly not a concern for this Golden Retriever and her new foster kittens.
In fact, one of the kittens has taken to using the dog as his own personal cozy bed, and it might be the cutest thing you'll see all day.
@britts.kittensthe way you can find him riding her like a horse at any given moment has me dead #kittensoftiktok #fosterkittensoftiktok #newgirlkittens #goldenretriever #dogandcat
♬ Curious Little Creatures - BlueWhaleMusicFoster mom Britt shared this sweet video on TikTok on June 11, and I am squealing over all the adorableness.
One of the kitties she's currently caring for is sound asleep on the Golden Retriever's back, and the dog doesn't seem to mind at all.
According to Britt, this is a very common occurrence. In the caption, she wrote, "the way you can find him riding her like a horse at any given moment has me dead."
There are a couple of other kittens from the litter in their home, too, but they don't seem to have formed the same bond with the dog that this one did. Something tells me this could be a foster fail in the making.
If you want to make sure your own dogs and cats will get along this well, keep reading.

How to Help Dogs and Cats Become FriendsIn some cases, dogs and cats will immediately take to each other way that these two adorable besties did, but that's never a given, and it's better to be prepared for them to both need a bit of an adjustment.
According to the American Kennel Club (AKC), one of the most important things you can do to ensure that your dog and cat become friends is to avoid rushing the process. You want to take your time introducing them to each other, and you want to give them each their own space while you do it.
This means keeping them apart in separate rooms at first, while also giving the dog and cat something that smells like the other animal, like a toy or a blanket, to introduce the idea that a new friend is becoming part of their life. Your next step can be feeding them each on separate sides of the same door at the same time.
When you feel like they are ready to come face-to-face, you can do so with a pet gate between them while keeping your dog leashed.
Even when they're able to be in the same room together, they should be supervised, and each animal should have their own space to retreat to where they will be left alone if they choose. From there, it can help to reward your pets with a treat every time they interact positively with each other, and hopefully, their relationship will only grow.
It does take some time, but that investment will be well worth it when you get to see your pets cuddling each other like BFFs when they're napping. Seriously, there is nothing cuter!

Goldendoodle Stares at Dad in Pure Disgust When His Food Doesn't Come With 'Extra Toppings'
Both of my dogs are pretty flexible when it comes to food. If it's edible (or even if it isn't), chances are they'll eat it. There have been times when they turn their nose up at something new, like if I try to introduce a vegetable or throw in some bland white rice. Other than that, my fur babies aren't that finicky.
This Goldendoodle seems to have higher standards than my dogs and gave his dad a hard time when he didn't get some extra goodies on top of his regular meal.
@chrisgiaimoHe will refuse to eat unless he gets a little extra on top. He prefers whip cream or a pinch of parmesan cheese #goldendoodle #doodle #dogsoftiktok
♬ Funny - Gold-TigerIn the TikTok from @chrisgiaimo, the Goldendoodle sat at the entrance of the kitchen with an obvious look of displeasure on his face. The dog was clearly disgruntled about something and wasn't afraid to show it.
"Anybody else's dog just sit there staring at you in disgust after you give them food if you don't put some extra toppings on it?" the onscreen text asked.
The Doodle's expression spoke volumes about his disappointment with dinner. He was obviously trying to make his dad feel guilty for depriving him of an upscale dish. Apparently, the precious pooch prefers items of a dairy variety.
"He will refuse to eat unless he gets a little extra on top," the caption revealed. "He prefers whipped cream or a pinch of parmesan cheese."
Followers related to the dog parent's dilemma and shared their own stories.
"I have to give mine a piece of chicken and then she’ll eat. I created a monster," one admitted.
"Two toppings minimum or else…," another shared.
"My doodle loves a sprinkle of cheese!" a follower remarked.
"My Brittany wouldn't take a chicken nugget if you didn't do it first," someone noted.
How to Cope With a Dog Who's a Picky EaterSome dogs are more selective than others when it comes to meals. If your pooch is on the picky side, get them evaluated by your vet to make sure there isn't an underlying health issue.
If your fur baby is just fussy about their food, there are some ways to encourage your dog to eat well:
Related: Fluffy Goldendoodle Who 'Whisper Barks' Looks Like a Real-Life Muppet Baby
- Keep meals on a schedule for consistency and better digestion.
- Limit treats and table scraps to avoid overeating and to make sure they are hungry at meal time.
- Set up a comfortable, calm environment for feeding times that are distraction-free.
- Make sure your dog's bowls are clean for every meal.
- Warm up their food to enhance the flavor.
- Add dog-friendly toppings to make their meals more appetizing.
With time and patience, your dog can learn to be more flexible with their taste preferences. Hopefully this Goldendoodle will be a little more forgiving at his next meal.

Maine Coon Mom Luna Welcomes 4 Tiny Kittens, and the Size Difference Is Melting Hearts

This majestic Maine Coon mom knows exactly what to do when it comes to nurturing and cleaning these brand-new, hour-old, adorable kittens, and it's absolutely precious.

How Big Do Maine Coon Cats Get?It's hard to believe that these four tiny Maine Coon kittens, who still have their eyes closed and their ears shut (so technically they can't see or hear), will double their birth rate in the first week of their life!
According to Maine Coon cat breeder Sassy Koonz, Maine Coon kittens are expected to gain about 10 to 15 grams per day to reach 300 to 400 grams by 2 weeks of age.
So how big do full-size Maine Coon cats get?
As one of the largest domestic breeds of cats, Maine Coons typically reach between 12 and 15 pounds for the females and between 18 and 22 pounds for the males.
As you can see, this Maine Coon mom cat, Luna, is substantially sized for a female, so these kittens have a solid chance of being on the larger size.
Part of that growth will, of course, include their signature lynx-like tufted ears, thick coats, and bushy tails.
As someone about to become a first-time mom this summer, I hope I am just as calm and cool as Luna was during her birth (and luckily I'm just having the one and not four!).

What Are the Rarest German Shepherd Colors? If you've never seen a pretty blue girl like Maeve, it's because this particular German Shepherd shade—which is actually more of a gunmetal gray—only makes up a small percentage of the population because of how rarely both parents carry the recessive gene.
A recessive gene that dilutes a dog's black pigment causes this blue color, and both parents have to carry the gene. Though blue is a rarity, there are even rarer colors that German Shepherds may end up with, including:
- Isabella (the rarest): a dusty lilac or faded champagne
- Liver: a dark chocolate or reddish-brown hue
- Panda: a unique tricolor pattern with symmetrical white, black, and tan marks
- White: a breed variation more than just genetics
If you encounter a blue German Shepherd or any other of the rare-colored pups, do your research to find the most reputable, responsible breeder. And always check out your local shelter or a German Shepherd rescue first. You never know when or where you'll find your little beauty like Maeve!

Grumpy Golden's Human Tried a Viral Celebrity Wellness Trend - His Face Has Thoughts
Paris Hilton said her dog lived 25 years. She credited that long life to red light therapy. One grumpy golden retriever's human heard this and immediately got to work. The golden retriever had opinions about all of it.
The TikTok from@echogoldenbear shows exactly what happens when a deeply committed dog mom meets a viral wellness trend and an equally committed grumpy golden. The caption states the mission clearly: "Making sure this old grumpy dog lives forever ✨❤️🤭"
The text overlay confirms her inspiration: a celebrity's claim that her dog reached an extraordinary age thanks to regular red light sessions.

♬ original sound - msjacksonn89Meet Echo. He's a senior golden and he's magnificently grumpy. He's got permanent stank face that no amount of wellness technology has softened. His human is trying the red light therapy device anyway because she loves him and because Paris Hilton made a compelling case.
Echo's expression during the session: completely unchanged. He was unmoved and deeply unimpressed.
The comments knew exactly what they were witnessing:
"He might live for 25 years but the way he's looking at you, you might not 🤣"
"Side effect is increase personality spice"
"I love his permanent stank face"
"He's gonna need Botox if he keeps frowning like that!"
"No matter what you do hes always grumpy 🤣"
"We love a sassy king"
That first comment is the entire vibe. Sure, he might achieve immortality but his human may not survive the glare long enough to see it.
But beyond the face and the legendary stank energy: does red light therapy actually do anything for a senior dog?
Does Red Light Therapy Actually Work for Dogs?According to Newsweek, the simple answer is yes. But here is the important part: it really depends on what device you are using and who's running it.
Red light therapy works by using specific light frequencies to reach underneath the skin and help the body heal. When a trained vet uses a professional-grade laser to deliver this treatment, it can genuinely help older dogs dealing with arthritis, slow-healing wounds and inflammation. Dr. Liza Cahn, a veterinarian at Embrace Pet Insurance who spoke to Newsweek, confirmed that "when delivered by a veterinarian with a therapeutic laser, photobiomodulation may be helpful" for exactly these kinds of conditions.
Related: Panic-Stricken Dog Mom Has a Post-Walk Secret — Her Golden Retriever Thinks He's at the Spa
Here is where it gets tricky though. The devices vets use in their clinics are completely different from the LED panels and masks people can buy online. The at-home versions are lower powered, less precise and much less consistent in their results. Experts told Newsweek that device quality varies enormously and some products simply do not work.
Yana Sinkevich, founder and CEO of The Hearty Paw, told Newsweek that red light therapy has shown real potential for dogs dealing with joint pain and chronic inflammation. The issue is that the best results come from professional equipment, not the gadgets you see in viral videos.
So if you want to try this for your senior dog, the first call is to your vet. Not TikTok. Not Paris Hilton. Your vet.
Echo remains skeptical of all of it. His face has not changed. His human keeps trying anyways.
That is what loving a grumpy golden looks like. Long may he live.

Baby Squirrel 'Christmas Vacation'ed a Woman Doing Yard Work - Internet Crowned Her Instantly
She was inside. She’d just finished doing yard work. And then she felt something moving in her hair. She was in the midst of her very own National Lampoons Christmas Vacation antics.
The TikTok from @neckhole8 captures the exact moment everything changed. The caption says it all: "What the actual sh*t just happened?"
The text overlay sets the scene: outside doing yard work and came inside. Twenty minutes later, she feels something unexpected.
@neckhole8What the actual shit just happened?
♬ original sound - Torrell TafaHer exact words once she figures out what's actually happening: "Is that a f***ing squirrel?"
It was. A squirrel had climbed onto her neck, shoulders and hair, apparently mistaking her for the most interesting tree in the yard. She does the only reasonable thing: she stays mostly still, processes the situation in real time and lets the chaos unfold.
The internet had a verdict almost immediately:
"Congratulations you are now Disney princess 💕"
"You have been chosen 😭"
"Patiently waiting for the universe to assign me a baby woodland creature."
"I'm getting pretty tired of doing yard work all day and NOT finding a baby squirrel on my shoulder!! 🥺"
Related: Emo Cow Goes Viral Saying 'It Was Never a Phase'— Internet Dubs Her 'E-Moo'
And then the comment that deserves its own award: "What method do you use to achieve this result? So far I've only achieved sunburn, exhaustion, and some garden beds."
She was chosen. The rest of us are still out here with nothing to show for it but sunburn.
But why did the squirrel decide her hair was the place to hang out? Turns out there’s an actual explanation.
Why Squirrels Sometimes Approach Humans—What It Actually MeansAccording to Skedaddle, a wildlife control company, squirrels are one of the most adaptable urban wildlife around. Urban squirrels behave very differently than their rural counterparts. Instead of foraging deep in the woods, city squirrels rely on parks, backyards and even garbage bins for food. Over time they've learned to associate humans with food sources, which is why they may approach humans rather than run away.
When a squirrel comes close, Skedaddle explains, it's almost always about food. "When a squirrel comes close, it's likely seeking food rather than acting out of aggression."
Was this squirrel hoping for a snack? Maybe. But there's also a much simpler explanation built right into squirrel instincts. These animals are constantly climbing, always looking for the next surface, branch or perch. A person standing still in a yard, especially one who had just been moving through plants and bushes during yard work, may have looked like just another part of the landscape worth investigating.
As for whether this was ‘dangerous’, Skedaddle is clear: squirrels rarely attack humans. Their default behavior is to run away, not fight. "Aggression typically occurs only when a squirrel feels trapped, cornered, or is protecting its babies." City squirrels are simply opportunists, not aggressors.
This squirrel wasn't being combative. It was simply being a squirrel. Curious, adaptable and apparently completely unbothered by the fact that it had just climbed an entire human being.
This woman didn't ask to be the chosen one. The universe decided that after a long day of yard work she deserved a pet baby squirrel and her very own Disney Princess moment. The internet agrees.

Newfoundland Gets Homemade Steak Dinner From 96-Year-Old Grandma, and People Can't Get Enough
Grandparents tend to spoil their grandkids and rumor has it, they enjoy every minute of it. Grandmas and Grandpas don't have to stick to the rules like they did when they were Mom and Dad, so they get a lot of joy out of indulging their grandchildren and being just plain fun.
Chewy the Newfoundland is reaping the benefits of this practice, where he has a 96-year-old grandmother who loves doting on him.
@chewythenewfie"I build my world around you"❤️
♬ Baby Now That I Found You - Ella BrightIn the TikTok from @chewythenewfie, Grandma showed Chewy two beautiful steaks she was about to prepare for him and then set them on the sizzling pan. While some viewers of the video may have assumed she was making dinner for some others at her house, the text revealed the true guest of honor.
"My 96-year-old Grandma invited my dog over for steak tonight," the onscreen text explained.
Chewy didn't mind waiting and got comfortable on the floor near his grandmother to keep her company as she cooked. The kitchen must have been filled with the delectable steak aroma, yet Chewy was a very patient pooch.
Once the steak was done, his grandmother lovingly cut up Chewy's steak into bite-sized pieces and set down his gourmet meal. Grandma stood as she ate her steak with the grateful Newfie right by her side, chowing down every morsel.
Followers found the adoring relationship between Grandma and Grandnewf totally heartwarming.
"I love how they both have the dinner... and you’re just there third wheeling," one pointed out.
He just splays and waits for her to give him his steak? That she cooked just for him?? I simply cannot," another gushed.
"Great... now my dog just asked me if he can go to Chewy's Grandma's house for dinner," a follower joked.
"This feels like I am intruding on a dinner date," someone remarked.
Grandma Got Chewy a PoolChewy's grandmother knows how to indulge a Newfie. With the warm weather finally here, she knew Chewy would need to cool off and recently bought him his own pool for when he visits.
@chewythenewfieHe didn’t want to leave the house in the heat… Grandma made it better ❤️🤍
♬ nhạc nền - cblvvch - cblvvchShe even filled the pool herself and loved watching Chewy turn into a fur maid. The only problem was that his mom had a hard time getting him to come home.
Though Grandma obviously spoils Chewy, the adoration is clearly mutual.

Think Your Frenchie Is Big? Someone Asked if This Pup Ate the Other Frenchies
Chunky the French Bulldog came onto screen and the internet did a double, double take. Then, someone asked the question everyone wanted to know the answer to.
The TikTok from @bigboychunkythefrenchie shows exactly what happens when an XL French Bulldog steps fully into his power. The caption sets the challenge directly: "XL Frenchies stand up." The text overlay doesn't hold back either: "Oh, so you think YOUR Frenchie is Big."
Chunky rises to his feet and suddenly every other Frenchie in the comments looks small by comparison. Wide chest, sturdy legs and the kind of compact muscle that somehow takes up more space standing than most Frenchies do lying down. This is what happens when an XL Frenchie commits to standing tall and showing off.
The personality matches the XL size too. Snorts, head tilts and that alert, slightly offended look French Bulldogs are notorious for, just turned up a notch.

♬ original sound - bigboychunkythefrenchieThe comments had thoughts:
"Did you feed it other frenchies?"
That's the one. The comment everyone was thinking but nobody else said out loud.
But not everyone found it funny. One commenter pushed back: "All these comments showing their obese frenchies are crazy. Frenchies should only be around 20-25 pounds, y'all showing obese dogs isn't a flex."
Which raises a legitimate question. What does a typical French Bulldog actually weigh? And how big can they really get?
What Actually Is an XL French Bulldog and How Big Can They Really Get?Turns out the standard French Bulldog is much smaller than you'd think.
According to Frenchie Shop, female French Bulldogs usually weigh somewhere between 18 and 26 pounds, and males come in slightly heavier at 20 to 28 pounds. Both tend to stand around 11 to 12 inches tall. So that commenter calling for 20-25 pounds isn't actually that far off the normal range. Anything bigger than that starts to fall into XL territory.
Related: French Bulldog Asked What He Does for a Living—'I Nap Like I Worked a Double Shift'
Frenchies don’t hit their full size until around two years old, with most of the growth happening between nine months and a year. After that genetics, body type, lifestyle and how active they are all play a role in where they land.
There are smaller versions too. You've probably already heard of mini or teacup Frenchies. Frenchie Shop points out that these aren't officially recognized by the American Kennel Club since they fall outside the normal size range for the breed.
As for keeping a Frenchie healthy, the source is pretty straightforward about it. When a Frenchie gets bigger than their frame can comfortably handle, it can start to affect their health overall. Regular walks and steering clear of fatty, high-calorie food go a long way toward keeping them in good health. What we know is that a standard Frenchie is a much smaller dog than Chunky.
Whatever the reason for the difference, the internet has questions
The 'Two-Finger Rule' Trainers Swear By to Keep Your Dog Safe and Comfortable on Walks
As any pet parent knows, ensuring a successful walk starts long before you step out the door, beginning with the equipment you choose. While general training and managing behavioral reactions are common concerns on walks, the foundation of a safe and enjoyable outing is the proper fit and comfort of your dog’s collar or harness. Using the right gear isn’t just about control; it is essential for preventing physical discomfort and ensuring that your pup remains secure throughout the journey, regardless of what unexpected distractions you might encounter.
Beyond initial training, mastering the "two-finger rule" is a crucial step in verifying that your dog’s collar or harness is fitted correctly. This simple technique acts as an important safety check, ensuring the equipment is snug enough to prevent slipping, while still providing maximum comfort. By prioritizing this precise fit for your pup, you not only enhance your control during walks, but you also protect your dog from the discomfort of ill-fitting gear, ensuring they remain both secure and comfortable every step of the way.

While it might not seem like it, having ill-fitting collars and harnesses can be a major problem during walks, which can ultimately result in pups slipping out and running away or getting injured. With steps like the two-finger rule, pet parents can ensure each outing is fun, comfortable and controlled. Read on to learn more about this safety rule and how to adjust your dog's collar or harness correctly.
What Exactly Is the Two-Finger Rule?Dave Xu/Unsplash
The two-finger rule is an easy way for pet parents to tell whether their dog’s collar or harness fits comfortably.
“When your dog is standing comfortably (not sitting), you should be able to slide two fingers between the equipment and your dog's body,” says Nicole Ellis, a certified professional dog trainer (CPDT-KA), American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen® (CGC) evaluator, Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) trainer and former celebrity trainer on Amazon Prime's The Pack. “This helps ensure the gear is snug enough to stay secure while remaining comfortable and safe.”
Not meant to be slipped on and forgotten, the collar or harness needs to be on your pet perfectly to ensure they can move around comfortably but can’t slip out during walks.
The Perfect Fit: How to Perform the Two-Finger Testfreestocks/Unsplash
Performing the two-finger test is easy: “Place two fingers flat against your dog's neck (for a collar) or body (for a harness) and slide them underneath the equipment,” Ellis says.
This small gap helps pet parents know that the collar or harness has a snug, safe fit. Ellis says that this ensures dogs aren’t being pinched and aren’t too loose to slip off their collar or harness. Additionally, Ellis also says pet parents should take into account their dog’s fur and body shape, as these factors can majorly affect how a harness or collar fits.
Related: 8 Signs Your Dog Needs More Exercise, According to a Vet
Collar vs. Harness: Does the Rule Apply to Both?Alvan Nee/Unsplash
On the topic of collars and harnesses, the rule still applies to both types of security items. “Yes, the two-finger rule can be used for both collars and harnesses, but there are some differences," Ellis says. "For collars, you check the fit around the neck. For harnesses, check around the chest, shoulders and ribcage.” No matter the style you prefer for your pup, the two-finger rule can help give them a comfortable fit.
The Flight Risk: Why a Loose Collar Is a Danger on WalksAndriyko Podilnyk/Unsplash
While it’s normal for pet parents to be wary of having a tighter fit on their collars, a loose fit can be equally as dangerous. “Many dogs can back out of a loose collar surprisingly quickly, especially when startled, frightened or excited,” Ellis says.
Even at home a loose collar may pose a risk. If the collar falls off during playtime, your pet may lose your contact information or lose their GPS tracking device if you use one, making it harder to find your dog if they were to get lost. Plus, a loose collar can easily entrap another dog’s jaw during a play session, according to Ellis.
The Hidden Dangers of a Tight FitJackie Alexander/Unsplash
On the other hand, as you may expect, a tight-fitting collar and harness is another point of concern for pet parents. Along with causing discomfort, a tight collar or harness can cause skin irritation, restricted movement and difficulty breathing, Ellis says. The professional dog trainer adds that a tight-fitting collar or harness may also lead to behavioral changes or challenges if dogs start to associate walks or touch with discomfort.
Why Trainers Consider Proper Fit the First Step of Leash TrainingViktoriya/Unsplash
While the actual process of training a dog is essential for any pet parent, having the proper fit of a collar or harness is the first step toward successful training.
“Even the best training plan can be undermined if a dog is uncomfortable or able to escape their gear,” Ellis says. “Properly fitted equipment provides safety, comfort and consistency, creating a better foundation for successful leash training.”
Ellis compares having a poorly fitting collar or harness to asking a human to run a mile in shoes that are too small. From this viewpoint, it makes sense that any dog that is uncomfortable in their gear may try to take it off by pulling, scratching or refusing walks.

Fluff vs. Fit: Adjusting the Rule for Thick-Coated BreedsAndy Lyell/Unsplash
Another important factor to consider is your pup’s fur. Certain breeds are known for being thick-coated, making it more likely that they may be more prone to an ill-fitting standard collar or harness.
“Dogs with dense coats—such as Samoyeds, Newfoundlands and many double-coated breeds—can make fit checks more challenging,” Ellis says. “When performing the two-finger test, part the coat so you're checking against the skin, not just the fur. Be sure recheck fit after grooming or seasonal coat changes. Thick fur can create the illusion of a snug fit when the equipment is actually quite loose.”
For pet parents with dogs that tend to have coats that fluctuate, it is important that they go through the test periodically to ensure they still have the proper fit.
The 'Three-Finger' Exception for Giant BreedsDavid Chang Kit/Unsplash
Another exception to the two-finger rule is bigger dog breeds. Larger dogs may need a bit more room to make way for larger neck circumferences, according to Ellis. To get the best fit for your larger breed, you should allow three fingers rather than two.
As Ellis points out, “The goal remains the same of being secure and safe without being restrictive. Rather than focusing strictly on the number of fingers, not to mention we all have different-sized fingers, evaluate the fit entirely.”
How Often Should You Check the Fit?Reed Shepherd / Unsplash
Just as any human looking for the perfect fit of an article of clothing, it’s important to test out a dog’s collar and harness fit regularly. This is especially true with a growing puppy. Ellis says dogs can go through weight changes, coat changes, or may be recovering from illness or injury, which are all factors that may affect body mass. Even the most subtle change may alter a dog’s collar or harness fit, so it's important to recheck that your pup is still properly fitted.
With these tips in mind, walks with your dog can be safe, comfortable and fun for the both of you.

10 Things Your Dog Does That Say “You Matter to Me,” According to a Trainer
Since your pup can’t talk to you, it’s natural to wonder: “Do I really matter to my dog?” After all, your dog matters deeply to you, and noticing signs your dog cares about you in everyday life can feel incredibly reassuring. These small behaviors often reveal the strength of a human–dog bond in ways pet parents don’t always notice in the moment. To help you recognize them, we rounded up 10 signs your dog cares about you, according to a trainer, so you can be on the lookout for them.
The truth is, the love you feel for your furry best friend can be just as strong—if not stronger—than many human relationships. “Dogs are totally unique to us in the way that they are able to offer companionship, loyalty and unwavering devotion in such an unconditional way,” says Annie-Mae Levy, CFBA, professional dog trainer at Woofz. “The bond they have with us is truly one of a kind.”
So how do you know if your dog loves you as much as you love them? Trainers say dogs constantly communicate through body language. Therefore, if you’ve ever asked yourself "Does my dog love me?" the answer may already be in their daily habits. You just have to know how to decode them. Keep reading to learn how! Then you'll be able to see how much your pup values you and is is devoted to you.

It's so easy to get caught up in the hustle and pressures of daily life that we don't catch the signs our dogs give us that they think we mean a lot to them. Here's how trainers say dogs reveal that they adore you and that you matter to them.
1. They Greet You HappilyWhen it comes to signs your dog cares about you, one of the clearest is how they greet you when you walk through the door. Excited welcomes—tail wags, enthusiasm, and instant attention—are all forms of dog affection signs that reflect strong emotional bonding.
"Dogs form the strongest social bonds with us, and reunions after time apart are very important for them," Levy says. "They don’t care how you look or whether you’ve had a bad day at work. They’re just super excited to see you after some time apart."
This kind of greeting behavior is one of the simplest ways dogs show love.
2. They Bring You ToysHow dogs show love can be seen in their behaviors. So if your pup is bringing you toys, it's their way of saying, "You matter to me, human!" How cute is that?
"Dogs may offer you their toys as an invitation to play or even just as a way to start more generic interaction," Levy reveals. "Sharing these possessions with you shows that they trust you with important resources and look to you as someone they’d like to interact with."
3. They Lick YouDo dogs kiss by licking? It's a common question and you'll be happy to know that dogs do lick to show affection and reveal that they feel attached to you.
"Licking can mean all sorts of things, but licking loved humans in a way that’s not excessive is part of normal social bonding and shows that your dog cares about you," Levy tells us.
So, pucker up, because you matter to your dog if this is something your pup does.
4. They Sniff You When You Come HomeWhen you return home after being out, one of the clearest dog bonding behaviors is your dog immediately sniffing you from head to toe. It may seem funny, but it’s actually a powerful form of canine communication and a sign they could never forget you because you are important to them.
“Taking an interest in where you’ve been after an absence is a great sign that you matter to your dog,” Levy explains. “They investigate the world via their nose, and so when they sniff you, they’re collecting all the information on what you’ve been up to.”
5. They Nudge Your Hand for PetsHow do dogs show they care about you? If your pup wants you to pet them, this simple gesture is a way your dog shows they love you and actively wants to have a connection with you. "Lots of dogs learn that this is a great way to start interaction with humans and will habitually nudge us when they’re seeking affection," Levy says. "Dogs that learn how to initiate this kind of contact are very in tune with us, and social interaction matters enough that they’re actively working out how to access it."
6. They Lean Against YouWhen looking for signs your dog feels connected to you and cares about you, leaning or pressing their body against you is a subtle but meaningful behavior. This physical contact is one of the clearest dog affection signs, especially in calm, everyday moments.
"Most dogs will do this as they enjoy the feeling of your body next to them and are seeking some physical contact," Levy shares. "Some dogs might even do this for a feeling of safety and security when they’re a little unsure of a situation, too."
Overall, cogs often lean into the people they feel most secure with, making this a quiet way they show love.
7. They Lie at Your FeetWhether you work from home or have a pet-friendly office, your dog often chooses to settle quietly at your feet while you’re busy. This calm behavior can be a signal your dog cares about you, showing they feel safest simply being near you.
“Choosing certain people’s company during ‘downtime’ and following you around from room to room during your work day can be a great sign that you really matter to your pet,” Levy shares. “Your presence to them is comforting, and they feel safest sleeping at your feet.”
8. They Stop Their Fun Just to Check InIf you've ever asked yourself "What are the signs my dog cares about me?" pay attention when you're walking them. On walks or at the dog park, your dog may be fully absorbed in sniffing, exploring, and taking in every distraction around them. Yet one sign your dog loves you is when they pause their excitement just to look back and check in with you.
“When you see a dog looking back at you a lot on walks, regardless of distractions, it means they are securely bonded to you and that you provide a safe base for them,” Levy reports.
This “check-in behavior” goes beyond simple awareness—it reflects strong dog-human bonding and is often seen in dogs who feel emotionally secure with their owner.
Related: 7 Signs Your Dog Feels Safe and Loved at Bedtime, According to Trainers
9. They Sleep in Your BedSome dogs sleep politely at the foot of the bed, while others take over the blankets. However they do it, co-sleeping can be one of the clearest signs your dog cares about you.
“Dogs are social animals, and sleeping with their relatives or trusted companions makes sense, as sleep is the most vulnerable state they can be in,” Levy says.
In the wild, canines sleep close together for protection and security. That instinct still shows up today in domesticated dogs, who often feel safest when they’re near their people.
For many dogs, choosing to be close to you at bedtime is less about comfort and more about trust, which is a heartwarming dog love sign.
10. They're Extra Cuddly When You’re UpsetOne of the more meaningful examples of dog emotional intelligence is when your dog becomes noticeably more affectionate and cuddly during times you feel down or overwhelmed. Some empathetic dogs seem to adjust their behavior to match your emotional state, offering extra closeness and comfort.
“Some dogs are great at understanding when their humans are upset and can alter their behavior to your emotional state,” Levy explains. “This shows a deep desire to connect and understand us.”
While not every dog responds to human sadness or grief in obvious ways, those that do are often showing a strong form of emotional bonding behavior and are choosing comfort and proximity as a way to stay connected.

Beagles are also very patient and have a great temperament for homes with children. Their coats are relatively low maintenance from a grooming perspective, and their expressive faces makes them so hard to resist.
In addition to all of the practical reason for their popularity, beagles have been heavily featured in media, which definitely entices people to wanting one of their own. Some famous beagles include:

What Happens When You Oil Your Dog's Scalp? Pit Bull Mom's Viral Routine Has the Answer
There is a pit bullgetting her scalp oiled right now. Her tongue is out and her eyes are soft, maybe rolling back in her head. She has never been more relaxed in her entire life.
The TikTok from @reignstormpit shows this pit bull mama doing what she does best: taking care of her dog in the most thoroughly thoughtful way possible. The caption is simple: "Oiling My Dogs Scalp 🐾🩷"
The video is ASMR in the purest sense. Gentle hands making soft circular motions working through the scalp. In a calm, spa-like environment that makes you want to put your phone down and relax immediately. The dog settles in completely. And then the tongue comes out.

"She is loving every second of this"

One viewer captured the moment perfectly, noting how the cuteness kept building the longer the video went: "So loved and loving 🥹"
So loved and loving. That is this entire video in four words.
Beyond how peaceful and perfect it looks, there is a real question worth answering: is oiling your dog's scalp actually good for them?
Is Oiling Your Dog's Scalp Actually Good for Them?Yes. And here is what the research says.
According to Naturo & Orgo, natural dog hair oils can help soothe dry skin, reduce itching, add shine and support overall canine coat health. Unlike many traditional grooming products that contain alcohol or synthetic preservatives, plant-based oils are gentle, safe and packed with nutrients.
"Regular use can lead to shinier, softer fur and reduce excessive shedding," the source notes.
Each of the most popular options serve a different and specific purpose. Coconut oil is rich in fatty acids and has antibacterial and antifungal properties, making it ideal for dry and itchy skin. Jojoba oil closely mimics the skin's natural oils and absorbs quickly without leaving any greasy residue. Argan oil contains Vitamin E and antioxidants that add shine and strengthen brittle fur. Almond oil, high in Vitamins A and E, softens and conditions the dog’s coat.
How often should you do it? Naturo & Orgo recommends oiling the scalp once or twice per week for dogs with dry or flaky skin and once every one to two weeks for general shine and coat maintenance.
Dogs that have dry or flaky skin, senior dogs with thinning coats and breeds with long or curly hair will benefit the most. Even short-haired pups can reap the benefit from occasional treatments to maintain healthy skin.
A few important precautions to know: tea tree oil can be toxic in high concentrations so always use dog-formulated products. Do a patch test before applying all over. A little oil goes a long way. And avoid applying near the eyes, nose or mouth.
This pit bull's tongue said yes before the research ever proved it.
Looks like they were both right.

Floki is a very rambunctious Pug whose person documents much of his life over on TikTok via @bubud_vienna—an account shared with his brother, the Dachshund, Vienna. Floki has many quirks, the main of which his person lovingly called "scream therapy" given his propensity for, well, screaming when things distress him. Which is to say, in the house of Floki, chaos often ensues!
Recently they took to TikTok to participate in the "horror movie" trend as it pertained specifically to Floki. Unsurprisingly, most of Floki's horror movies involve things that do, in fact, make him scream. Video included for evidentiary support.

- The Mailman
- UPS Driver
- Amazon Delivery
- People
- Squirrels
Needless to say, anything that may startle Floki? And involving a stranger? He is definitively not into it.
What Is the 'Horror Movie' TikTok Trend? The "horror movie" trend is a very simple trend over on TikTok that invites users to participate by listing out their "horror movies" behind a specific audio track, most commonly it's Katy Perry’s "The One Who Got Away" but occasionally Gracie Abrams' "I Love You, I'm Sorry" is used instead. The "horror movies" are not actual slasher films, but instead of relatable, "slice of life" moments that cause the poster anxiety or discomfort.
So in Floki's case: The Mailman.
Other dog options could include:
- Being fed dinner four minutes too late
- Someone walking by a little bit too fast
- Fireworks
- Mom forgetting to order me a pup cup
- The vacuum
And so on and so forth.
All jokes aside, Floki's video is a great reminder of just how ridiculous it is sharing our lives with these little creatures. They're quirky, filled with personality, and make our lives so much better. Even if better does come with screaming, it's totally worth it.
