As nice as these cats are to look at, experts explain that Ragdolls have all that plush fur because of their breeding history, which prioritized silky hair like that of a rabbit. Born from Persian and Birman cat ancestors, you can expect that these kittens are going to be irresistibly cute, but their fur is actually pretty unique.

At first glance, their fur looks like many layers, almost like tulle, but it's really just a soft, single-layer coat doing all that work! The end result is pretty, but it's also less prone to matting, unlike other long-haired felines.

Aside from the distinguishable way their fur looks, it also acts as an insulator, which doesn't shed the way other cat fur does. And despite how intimidating it may seem to have a fluff like Carol, Ragdolls are considered low-maintenance as long as pet parents keep up on brushing. TikTok user @helloitsmeheather shared the slow-motion "dog licks frog" video, and honestly, the timing is what makes it. Pep gives the frog a tiny lick and immediately cycles through confusion, alarm, regret, and full-body “why did I do that” in a matter of seconds.

It’s not dramatic. It’s worse. It’s specific.

Her eyes widen just slightly, her mouth shifts, and then you can almost see the exact moment the realization hits. This was not the right decision. This was never going to be the right decision.

The frog, for his part, remains completely unbothered. Which somehow makes it funnier.

People in the comments were absolutely losing it over her reaction.

“She said EEEYUUUCK!” one person wrote.

“Why is this spicy?” another added.

I don’t know, it’s one of those moments that feels very universal. My cat Meatball once sniffed something questionable and immediately looked personally offended, like the world had betrayed him. Pep just took it one step further and committed to the experience.

Most frogs are harmless, but some toads can release toxins that may irritate your dog’s mouth, or in more serious cases, cause poisoning.

If your pup licks a frog or toad, watch closely for symptoms like excessive drooling, pawing at the mouth, vomiting, or unusual behavior. These can be signs of irritation or a reaction to toxins.

If you’re concerned, gently rinse your dog’s mouth with clean water, being careful not to force water down their throat. Then contact your veterinarian or an emergency animal clinic right away, especially if symptoms appear or worsen.

Certain species, like Cane Toads or Colorado River Toads, can be particularly dangerous, so it’s always better to be cautious.

In Pep’s case, it looks like she mostly experienced immediate regret. Which… honestly, might be the best possible outcome.

But those specks are a sign most pet parents miss. The good news is that there is a simple way to confirm whether they mean trouble.

What Is the Coffee Grounds Trick?

The "coffee grounds trick" is actually a common nickname for a simple at-home test to check if your dog has fleas. It doesn't use real coffee; it just describes what flea dirt looks like.

Flea dirt is a clear sign that, sadly, most pet parents miss. It looks like someone sprinkled black pepper or coffee grounds across your dog's skin.

You can confirm a flea infestation by collecting a few flecks, placing them on a damp towel, and waiting a few minutes. If their color changes into reddish-brown smears, that's digested blood, and your dog has fleas.

Dr. Colleen Lambo, a relief veterinarian in Texas with a PhD in conservation medicine, says that "most of the time you won't actually see the fleas since they move so quickly. What you'll often find instead is 'flea dirt,' those tiny black specks that turn reddish-brown when placed on a damp paper towel."

She checks the base of the tail first because fleas prefer warm, dense areas where dogs can't easily groom themselves. Dr. Scarlett Magdalen, a holistic veterinarian and founder of the Regenerative Sanctuary, also points to the armpits and between the legs as common hiding spots.

When Should You Check Your Dog For Fleas?

According to Dr. Lambo, you should check for fleas after hikes, visits to dog parks, boarding, or whenever your dog comes into contact with other animals.

Pay attention to your dog. If they suddenly start scratching, chewing at their skin, or rubbing against furniture, you want to rule out fleas. Even a single bite can cause significant discomfort.

Dogs with flea allergy dermatitis react to the proteins in flea saliva, becoming intensely itchy from a single bite.

Dr. Magdalen adds that dogs without a preventative should be checked after every outdoor exposure, and that fleas tend to peak in late summer and early fall, though they can be active year-round. She also flags one symptom that requires immediate attention: pale gums. In puppies, especially, a heavy infestation can cause flea anemia, a life-threatening condition.

Dr. Helle Brandrup, a veterinarian at Neurogan Health, notes that bath time is the perfect opportunity to check. Fleas are easier to spot on wet fur. She also points out that paws are often where fleas first hitch a ride when a dog comes in from outside.

Where Do Fleas Most Commonly Hide on Dogs?

Always start at the base of the tail because fleas concentrate where your dog's coat is thick, where your pet cannot reach to scratch or bite. Once you rule out the tail, check the lower back, groin, belly, armpits, and behind the ears.

Dr. Brandrup recommends checking the face, especially near the eyes and mouth. These are also areas with possible moisture accumulation. You can apply the coffee grounds trick here, or in any area you suspect. Simply run a damp paper towel and look for that red-brown bleed.

What Should You Do If You Find Fleas?

Treating the dog alone will not solve the problem. As Dr. Lambo says, only about 5 percent of a flea population lives on the animal. The rest, eggs and larvae, are in your carpets, bedding and furniture. You have to treat both at the same time.

Start with a vet-recommended flea preventative for the dog, and wash all bedding in hot water. Vacuum frequently for several weeks. Dr. Lambo also notes that flea prevention products vary in effectiveness by region, so ask your vet which product performs best where you live.

Dr. Brandrup recommends a flea comb for owners who want to avoid chemical baths, particularly for sensitive dogs. She says, "I do recommend having a Ziploc bag with some type of flea powder in it, ready to go, so that when you pick up a flea with your comb, you can deposit it directly in the bag. This ensures it doesn't hop away before you can kill it."

Dr. Magdalen also uses it around the home, lightly dusted under rugs, between cushions, and beneath pillows, but cautions against leaving it loose where pets might inhale it. She is also checking your dog's stool for tapeworms. Do it two weeks after an infestation because they can transmit if a dog ingests one while grooming.

Can This Trick Replace a Full Flea Check?

The coffee grounds trick to spotting fleas is a fast and reliable first step, but not a complete exam. While it can confirm an active infestation, you still need to make a thorough check with your hands and a fine-toothed comb. Your goal is to find early-stage problems before the population grows. If you find flea dirt but no visible fleas, your dog still needs treatment.

If you've never heard of these cool cats before, same! The small, thin wild cats are native to some states within the U.S. and all the way to central Argentina. Nicknamed "the otter cat" due to their short legs, small, flat heads, and elongated bodies, these cool creatures even move like little weasels!

As a whole, Jaguarundi cats, like the one spotted on a hidden camera in Costa Rica, grow to be 3 to 4 feet tall and only about 16 pounds. They're also excellent tree climbers, and have been rumored to be pretty good swimmers (so look out, Michael Phelps)!

The Comments Roll In 

The people of Reddit were captivated by Rubi’s unique, cartoonish appearance. 

One person wrote in the comment section, “Those eyes! I’d give her anything she wants,” prompting her mom to respond, “Yes, she does get whatever she wants lol.” 

Someone else joked, “If Ariana Grande is a cat…”—a nod to the singer’s signature angled brows and big, expressive eyes.

The Power of a Good ‘Brow’

What makes Rubi so captivating is how much expression those markings seem to add. Her “eyebrows” give her a cartoon-like quality that makes it look like she’s constantly curious.

It’s a reminder of just how powerful facial markings can be in animals. Much like cats with mustache patterns or heart-shaped fur patches, these small details can completely transform their look (and their internet appeal).

Do Cats Actually Have Eyebrows?

As convincing as Rubi’s look is, cats don’t technically have eyebrows like humans do.

They do, however, have a combination of subtle features that can create a similar effect. Cats have facial muscles and slight ridges above their eyes that help with expressions, along with specialized whiskers in that area called supraorbital whiskers. These help them sense their surroundings, especially when navigating tight spaces.

What we often interpret as “eyebrows” are usually just clever fur markings or color variations—like the ones Rubi is rocking.

Between her oversized eyes, tiny frame and those perfectly placed “brows,” Rubi has all the makings of a viral star. She manages to look both adorable and slightly dramatic at the same time, which is a winning combination online.

These sightings aren't rare, either. In Florida, golfers run into alligators during normal play all the time. Sometimes it's just baby alligators adorably crossing fairways in a line. Sometimes it's massive prehistoric-looking adults like the one in Rachel's video, who've definitely been around long enough to remember when golf courses were actual swamps.

The good news? Alligators generally stay away from people and rarely pose a threat when left alone. They've learned to adjust their routines to coexist with humans in shared spaces. Here's what makes Peggy's situation even more heartbreaking: her sister, Helen, has already found her forever home. Why Mama Dogs Get Overlooked in Shelters

Peggy's story isn't unique—it's painfully common. 

According to data from Petfinder analyzed by Priceonomics, 95 percent of puppies listed for adoption get adopted quickly. However, that number drops drastically as dogs age: 80.4 percent for young dogs, 75.5 percent for adults, and just 68.2 percent for seniors.

Mama dogs face an especially hard reality. They give everything to their puppies—physically, emotionally, nutritionally—and by the time those puppies are adopted (often within days) to loving forever homes, the mama is an afterthought. She is exhausted, sometimes shut down from the stress, and no longer the "cute puppy" people are looking for at rescues.

A similar case highlighted in Newsweek involved Karishma, a 2-year-old mama dog in Florida whose five puppies were all adopted within days of availability. After they went to forever homes, Karishma "shut down completely—not wanting to eat, come out and walk, or see people," according to Lacy Landers from Nate's Honor Animal Rescue. 

The shelter environment is especially difficult for dogs who've just lost their puppies. They thrive in foster homes but struggle in kennel environments. Peggy deserves better than going back to a kennel after being such a good mom to her puppies. She needs someone to give her the soft place to land that she's earned.

Cavapoos are a cross between Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and Miniature Poodles, which gives them a naturally friendly attitude and eagerness to please their people. They're adaptable, patient, and thrive being part of all family activities. However, even the friendliest dog needs time to process a major life change like "surprise, you have a sibling now."

The good news? Cavapoos typically warm up to new companions once they realize the puppy is not going anywhere. Give it a few days (ok, maybe weeks), and Willow will probably be the protective big sister showing Coast the ropes.

For now, though? Willow's giving her humans the silent treatment, and honestly, she's earned it. Nobody likes being tricked into life-changing car rides.

The medical alert dog is trained to warn others when Kennedy's blood sugar levels are in a danger zone. In the TikTok from @kennedyst1djourney, Kona relaxed on the couch while Kennedy was at a friend's house, yet he sensed potential trouble.

"Target is two houses away, and he's about to alert!" the onscreen text read.

Kona's ears perked up, obviously sensing something was off. He placed his paw on his mom while making direct eye contact. The camera panned in for a close-up, showing Kona's nose hard at work, sniffing for answers. You could easily see the concentration in Kona's eyes as he reached out a paw again to confirm the alert.

"He alerts when my daughter's blood sugar falls below 75 or rises above 145," the onscreen text explained. "I asked him to follow his nose and find his girl."

Kona Got to Work

Kona jumped off the couch, gave a sort of growl-whine and headed for the front door to go outside. Once he was let out, Kona ran across the lawn to the end of the wooden fence in their yard. He stared at a house in the distance, where Kennedy was with her friends.

Even though she was two spread-out houses away, Kona picked up the scent that her blood sugar needed attention. The family praised the pooch for his dedication to their daughter and his invaluable support.

And then there is this tiny queen at the Erie Zoo, who walks right up to the glass, giggles in a Lynx’s face, and somehow turns the whole encounter into one of the funniest little standoffs on the internet.

The video is already great before the Lynx even reacts. You see the young child standing there, completely locked in, clearly delighted to be so close to this beautiful wild cat. Then the Lynx swats at the glass right in front of her face, and instead of backing up in terror, she just keeps laughing. Honestly, that level of confidence at her age is impressive. If that had happened to me as a kid, I probably would have left my body for a minute.

The energy mismatch is perfect. On one side of the glass, you have a toddler having the time of her life. On the other side, you have a Lynx who seems deeply unconvinced by the whole interaction and maybe just a little offended. What I love most is that the moment never feels scary, just surprising and hilarious. The glass is there, the child is safe, and the Lynx is being a Lynx, which somehow makes the whole thing even funnier. It's one of those zoo moments people remember forever because it captures something real and ridiculous all at once. A little kid’s fearless laugh. A big cat’s dramatic reaction. Pure accidental comedy.

And truly, this girl is probably going to grow up brave. Maybe too brave. The kind of person who casually says things like, “Oh yeah, I loved wild cats as a toddler,” while the rest of us are still recovering from one goose charging us in a park 15 years ago.

Some kittens chase toys. Some pounce on shadows. And then there’s this tiny Maine Coon who just… flips onto his back and starts playing with his own feet like he invented a whole new game.

It’s called the “toesies game,” and once you see it, you kind of understand why everyone is so emotional about it.

We call it the toesies game! Pita is a 7 week old Maine Coon. When he was 5 weeks and 2 days old, we woke up to find him paralyzed. He had been running around just the night before! We rushed him to the ER, but after numerous tests and scans, the vets could not find any answers as to what exactly was wrong with him. We decided to watch and wait for a little bit, to see if his quality of life would improve. Since then we have kept Pita near us 24/7. We do regular physical therapy and feed and potty him by hand. Recently, he has shown dramatic improvement, starting with the toesies game a few days ago and now he is able to sit himself up, hold a standing position if placed in one, and he can take himself all over with his back legs! He is back to purring all the time, and we have every hope he will regain function in his front legs very soon. Pita is such a sweet and curious soul and he deserves the world.

According to the caption, just a couple of weeks earlier, Pita suddenly lost the ability to use his front paws. One day, he was running around like a normal kitten, and the next, his family woke up to find him paralyzed.

After rushing him to the emergency vet and going through extensive testing, they still didn’t have clear answers. Instead, they decided to stay close, care for him around the clock, and focus on giving him the best possible quality of life.

Since then, they’ve been doing regular physical therapy, helping him eat, and assisting with basic care. And slowly, things have started to change.

The toesies game was one of the first signs.

Now, he’s able to sit himself up, hold a standing position when placed, and move himself around using his back legs. He’s purring again, curious again, fully engaged with the world in a way that feels incredibly hopeful.

And watching him play like that, you would never know anything was “wrong.” He’s just… a kitten, doing kitten things in his own way.

People in the comments completely fell for him.
