Super Rare Persian-Ragdoll Cat Looks Like a Smoky Mountain

Thu, 03/12/2026 - 10:00am

If I could have a cat, it would either be a Ragdoll or a Maine Coon. They've always been my favorites: so elegant, fluffy, and sweet! I love cats that can look a little bit grumpy sometimes, too.

So, naturally, this Persian-Ragdoll cat has blown my mind. She's everything a cat lover could possibly want, plus massive, beautiful eyes and just a little bit of a grumpy face:

@miss.cinny.emry

And they called her Cinny #fyp #viral #cat #ragamuffin #cutecat

♬ son original - @disneyloova

When Cinny the Persian-Ragdoll came up from under that blanket, I actually gasped. She was in the dark, so her pupils were huge, too, like she's a real-life version of Puss in Boots doing his kitty eyes!

Cinny is the oldest of three cats living in this house. She has two sisters: a Ragdoll and a Persian. They're a very beautiful bunch, but this Smoky Mountain girl takes the cake! I would love to see her parents!

Cinny is the pretty princess: she never does anything wrong. She was the cat who made her mom want another cat, who ended up being a menace. Then she balanced it out with a third, who's also goofy and loves beefing with the dog:

@miss.cinny.emry

I swear they love each other #fyp #viral #cute #cat #dog

I just know this house has never been quiet before. That's just how mom likes it!

More About Persian-Ragdoll Cats

Though not a breed most people would think to consider, Persian-Ragdoll cats are very sweet, beautiful cats. They're a mid-sized cat, with Persians being on the smaller side and Ragdolls being a little bit bigger.

Persian-Ragdoll cats are known for being:

  • Very affectionate.
  • Fluffy.
  • Curious and inquisitive.
  • A little bit nosy.
  • Vocal.

They're an awesome addition to most families: they're somewhere in the middle in terms of energy levels, and they're typically pretty good with kids and other pets. Don't let their grumpy faces fool you: they're little babies!

This $25 Camera With 308,000 Reviews Lets You Watch Your Pets All Day

Thu, 03/12/2026 - 9:59am

Parade Pets aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

As a dog dad, there’s something I’ve always wondered: Outside of stealing my socks, just what does Winnie do when I’m gone?

Well, I know that she sits on the couch. I would like to think, though, that there are other things that she gets up to, whether I’m out walking, running to the store, or getting dinner with friends. Does she sleep? Does she play with her toys? I’m just grateful I don’t come home to any accidents.

Blink is here to answer those questions, and its extremely popular mini indoor smart security camera is currently on sale on Amazon. You can get it for $25 in black or white, but we suggest moving quickly, because this thing is selling fast with over 8,000 bought in the past month alone.

Why This Camera Is a Winner for Pet Parents
  • The camera captures footage in 1080p, and you’ll get alerts on your smartphone whenever motion is detected. That is excellent news for anyone who has a pet that loves sneaking around and maybe, just maybe, getting into the pantry.
  • Thankfully, this camera is incredibly easy to set up. All you need to do is plug in the camera, connect it to Wi-Fi, download the app to your smartphone (or tablet), and you’re good to go. You can also connect the camera to Alexa.
  • The two-way audio is a standout feature, and for good reason. You can communicate with your pet or anyone else in the house without needing to call them.
  • Amazon offers free shipping for Prime customers, and a 30-day refund/replacement window is available.

What Do Other Shoppers Say?

This Blink Mini indoor camera has a 4.4-star rating (out of 5.0) on Amazon. Considering that over 308,000 people have left a review, that’s nothing short of incredible. There are some music albums that might not even sell 308,000 copies.

  • “The video quality is clear, even at night, and the motion alerts are accurate. Setup was quick and easy, and it doesn’t take up much space. It’s a simple, reliable camera for keeping an eye on things indoors.”
  • “It gives me so much peace of mind. ... The two way talk feature is amazing."

The Bottom Line: When over 308,000 people grade a product, and 73% believe said product is worthy of a 5-star rating, you have to pay attention. The Blink Mini compact security camera sounds like a must-buy for anyone with pets or children in their household, especially at its affordable $25 price point.

Australian Shepherd's Cute Interaction With Dolphin Is Straight Out of a Storybook

Thu, 03/12/2026 - 9:55am

You never know when or where you may find a new friend! You don't even need to have much in common to form a bond.

This adorable Australian Shepherd who befriends a dolphin is proof that sometimes all you need to connect is an open mind and a friendly disposition. Take a look at this heartwarming clip and see if it doesn't make you smile (and maybe also want to book a vacation!).

How sweet are these two together? No fear or hesitancy on either side!

And those little dolphin sounds? Too cute! It's as if the dolphin is greeting this Australian Shepherd. You wonder if the dolphin is trying to say, "Hey, jump on in! The water feels great! I'll even teach you how to do a backflip!"

Are Australian Shepherds Friendly Dogs?

If you're wondering if this is typical behavior for this breed, it is! Australian Shepherds are beloved for their friendly dispositions. These dogs are eager to please. They're also intelligent and hardworking. Some can be shy (hard to believe from this video!), but with early socialization, they quickly enjoy time with adults, children, and other pets.

Their love for the water varies, so maybe it's not a surprise that this dog decided to stay in the kayak!

Whenever you travel, you hope to make memories that last long after you've returned home. It's safe to say that seeing your pet engage with a dolphin is an experience you'll never forget!

Normally $52 at Walmart, it's on sale for only $30 for a limited-time. This is a great opportunity to give your feline a little extra TLC! The tree is packed with all that they need to satisfy their natural scratching instincts, catch a few ZZZs, and play to their heart's content.

Designed to comfortably support up to 18 pounds, this "adorable" cat tree checks all the boxes where your pet's comfort and play needs are concerned. Hundreds of pet owners concur, sharing praise for both the easy setup and the clever design. "It is really cute and good quality," wrote one shopper. "My kitten is obsessed with it!"

Goldendoodles Catch Glimpse of Statue in Their Likeness and It's an Immediate 'Nope'

Thu, 03/12/2026 - 9:32am

There is something deeply funny about dogs being offended by home decor, and this TikTok absolutely delivers. The moment Dad brings home the viral Doodle statue from Sam’s Club, the whole house shifts into low-level canine panic. Bear and Yogi take one look at the thing and immediately decide this fake Doodle is not to be trusted.

Honestly, my dog Lola would do the exact same thing. She has a real talent for acting personally betrayed by random objects, especially if they seem like they showed up uninvited. Bear and Yogi clearly feel that way here, too, and the result is pure comedy.

@just_jaime76

Bear & Yogi are not happy with dad right now, but mom is! He grabbed the last doodle statue at Sam’s Club today! 💙 #goldendoodle #goldendoodlesoftiktok #doodletales #mustlovedogs #doodlemom @Sam’s Club

♬ Heartwarming, everyday, funny BGM(1194980) - K's note

The post frames it perfectly. Mom is thrilled because Dad managed to grab the last Doodle statue at Sam’s Club, which already makes this feel like a victory lap for one human and a horror movie for two dogs. Meanwhile, Bear and Yogi are very much not sharing in the excitement. If anything, they seem deeply concerned that someone has placed a suspicious, silent cousin in their living space without proper discussion.

This is not cautious curiosity. This is full-on “absolutely not” energy. They clock the statue, freeze up, and seem to decide in real time that Dad has made a terrible mistake. It is such a classic dog reaction to a random object that looks almost familiar, but not quite right.

View this post on Instagram

The statue is supposed to be cute. To the humans, it is a fun little find, a viral Doodle-shaped prize worthy of being hauled home. To Bear and Yogi, it is apparently an uncanny intruder with bad vibes. The fact that it resembles them just makes the whole thing funnier. It is like they are being forced to confront a very cursed version of themselves and would strongly prefer not to.

Their expressions and body language tell the whole story. No barking speech needed, no elaborate setup, just two Goldendoodles taking one look and filing an immediate emotional complaint. Sometimes pet videos work because of chaos. Sometimes, they work because one tiny household moment turns into an instant standoff between reality and whatever in the world Dad just dragged through the door.

How to Help Dogs Who Fear Weird Objects

When dogs get spooked by random things like statues, bags, or yard decorations, the best move is to slow everything down. Give them distance, let them look without pressure, and reward calm curiosity with treats or praise. Do not force them closer just to prove the object is harmless.

The AKC recommends using desensitization and counterconditioning, which means introducing the scary thing gradually and pairing it with something the dog loves so the feeling can shift over time.

Basically, Bear and Yogi saw that statue and reacted like Dad had brought home the world’s creepiest HOA-approved jump scare.

Tiny Black Kitten Looks Exactly Like a Baby Bat

Thu, 03/12/2026 - 9:20am

If you’ve ever had a human baby or spent time around one, you may have played that classic little game where you gently stretch their arms above their head and ask, “How big is baby?” before answering, “Sooooooo big!”

Well… that is sort of what is happening in this tiny kitten video, except instead of a baby human, we have a teeny-tiny Black Kitten, whose arms are stretched up in the air, and the result is honestly a little bit shocking.

Because when those paws go up, this kitten stops looking like a kitten and starts looking suspiciously like a baby vampire bat.

The cute little clip from the TikTok account @just.lulu.2025 shows the tiny Black Kitten with his little arms stretched above his head, and the pose makes his small body, pointy ears, and wide eyes suddenly resemble what can only be described as a cartoonish baby bat.

Related: Pudgy Gray Frenchie Looks Exactly Like a Baby Koala Bear

Or, as one commenter perfectly put it, “He looks like somebody was trying to draw the concept of a cat…”

Another viewer agreed that the resemblance was uncanny.

“That is the batiest cat I’ve ever seen!”

Others were simply overwhelmed by the tiny creature’s chaotic cuteness.

“Awww, take a look at this cutie patootie,” one person wrote.

Some people pointed out that kittens this young often look a little extra strange before their fluffy coats fully grow in.

“Before they really grow in the fuzzies. Too cute,” one viewer said.

Of course, the tiny kitten’s sharp little teeth and miniature claws didn’t go unnoticed either.

“His little murder mittens are adorable!”

Another person summed up the entire situation in a single dramatic question.

“What in the name of gargoyles is that?”

But perhaps the most accurate description of all came from someone who clearly understood exactly what we were looking at.

“Tiny little vampire cat bat.”

Why Black Cats Get a Bad Rap Black Cat rolling on a bed.

Image Via: Larysa Shcherbyna/Shutterstock

Unfortunately, Black Cats have carried a lot of unfair myths and superstitions over the years. In many cultures, they were once associated with bad luck or spooky folklore, which led to a reputation they absolutely do not deserve.

Growing up, I had two rescue Black Cats, and both of them were incredible. They were playful, affectionate, and loved attention just as much as any other kitty. In fact, many people who share their homes with Black Cats will tell you they tend to have especially sweet personalities.

The truth is that Black Cats are just like any other feline when it comes to temperament. What really matters is their individual personality and how they are raised and cared for.

Why You Shouldn't Adopt a Black Cat Around Halloween Two Black Cats

Image Via: Ranimiro Lotufo Neto/Shutterstock

You may have heard people say that shelters discourage adopting Black Cats around Halloween because of safety concerns. Actually, most animal shelters and humane societies don't ban Black Cat adoptions during October.

Many shelters actually encourage adoptions year-round, including during Halloween season, because Black Cats often wait longer to find homes than other kitties simply due to lingering myths and outdated superstitions.

Animal shelters widely agree that responsible adopters should be welcomed at any time of year. So if you have ever considered adding a Black Cat to your family, your local shelter or humane society likely has some incredible kitties waiting to meet you.

And who knows, one of them might even turn out to be a tiny vampire bat in disguise.

Moment Golden Retriever Puppy Chooses His Human Is the Sweetest Thing We've Ever Seen

Thu, 03/12/2026 - 9:00am

Speaking from experience, there is absolutely no feeling more magical than choosing your puppy. I've only gotten the chance once, but it was so amazing, and it was much clearer than you might think. That's coming from someone with a terrible case of decision paralysis!

One dog mom also recently got to make the choice... Kind of. When she got to the puppy pen, her puppy immediately chose her. Maybe this is a little more magical than making the choice for yourself:

@_theothegoldenretriever_

He chose me! 🥹 #puppy #goldenretrieverpuppy #cutevideo

♬ Margaret - Lana Del Rey

Theo the Golden Retriever made this choice back in the spring of 2024, so this video is a little bit of a throwback. If I were his mom, I would never stop talking about this. He was lying in this pile of puppies, and as soon as she got there, he went running.

It was legitimately meant to be. He's proven that over and over these last two years, and now that he's almost full-grown, there's nowhere he'd rather be. He fits into his new home perfectly! He even has a best friend horse!

What a dream. I'm so happy it all worked out!

Do You Always Choose Your Puppy?

While this magical moment was perfect in every single way, it's not always how the process goes. If you're adopting from a shelter, you'll always get your pick, of course.

When you go through a breeder, there are two ways the process might go:

  1. You're allowed to pick your puppy either before you meet them, from pictures, or when you get there.
  2. Your breeder assigns you a puppy based on your gender preference and the puppy's personality.

"Matching" is also very common with service dog breeders; they'll match you with a dog based on your needs. Some of them even do trial periods where you go in and meet the dog a few times first!

How to Pick Your Puppy

Don't do what I did (or maybe do?). I got to pick my puppy. There were five options. Only one of them was sitting quietly; the rest were smacking each other and being very chaotic. I decided to take the quiet one; she was the cutest, and I thought she might be quiet. Wrong. I adore her, but geez.

When you're choosing your own puppy, you should:

  • Go based on vibes. If there's one who's calling to you, or sprinting at full speed, that's the one.
  • Watch them interact with their siblings; it'll give you a little insight as to their social skills.
  • Not just go for the prettiest one. Just because they're gorgeous doesn't mean they fit perfectly.

Spend a little time with all of the puppies to be sure. When you know, you know!

English Bulldog Puppy Invades Personal Space - Permission Is Enthusiastically Granted

Thu, 03/12/2026 - 8:18am

Ever want some "me" time but your puppy didn't get the memo? Puppies don't seem to care one iota about your personal space. At least that's what Daisy the English Bulldog puppy seems to think.

There's the most adorable TikTok of Daisy sweetly staring directly into the camera, with "I Think I Like This Little Dog" by Doug the Pug playing in the background. She's got that classic sweet Bulldog face going—wrinkly, adorable, completely irresistible.

Then, right as the lyric ends, she leans in and plants a kiss right on the camera lens.

The caption? "You can always invade my personal space, Daisy 🩷."

@daisyhaswrinkles

you can always invade my personal space Daisy 🩷

♬ I think I like this little dog - Doug The Pug

Honestly, with a face like that, who's ever saying no?

The comments are full of fans who cannot handle Daisy's cuteness.

"I wanna smoosh that little face!!🥰" wrote someone expressing exactly what we’re all thinking.

"What a cutie 🥰," summed up the situation perfectly.

Let’s be honest, Daisy is the kind of puppy where personal space boundaries don't apply anymore. She gets close, she gets cuddles, she gets whatever she wants because look at her.

English Bulldogs Are Natural Velcro Dogs Who Love Being Close to Their People

Daisy's personal space invasion behavior makes total sense: English Bulldogs are naturally clingy dogs. They're what many people call "velcro dogs"—they stick to their humans like glue.

Actually, English Bulldogs were specifically bred to be companion dogs. That means their entire job is being close to people. They can often be found following you around, sitting on your lap, and getting all into your personal space because that's literally what they were made to do.

Related: Toy Poodle's Funny and Unique 'Side Trot' Has the Internet Having a Field Day

Dogs who are personal space invaders, like Daisy, usually do so for a few reasons. Most commonly? They just really love you. Some breeds show affection by constantly wanting to be near their people. English Bulldogs are absolutely one of those space invader breeds.

When a dog lets its guard down and feels comfortable that close to you, it's a definite sign of trust and affection. Daisy staring into that camera and then kissing it? She's showing love the only way she knows how—by getting right up in there.

Dogs also follow their humans and seek close contact because you make them feel safe. Being near their person is very comforting for dogs. English Bulldogs, especially, tend to be anxious when separated from their families, so staying close feels natural to them.

🐶SIGN UP to get “pawsitivity” delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾🐾

The velcro dog behavior can also be learned. If every time your dog gets close, you give them pets, praise, and attention, they're gonna keep doing it. Why wouldn't they? It works.

Daisy's personal space invasion isn't a problem. It's an English Bulldog puppy doing exactly what English Bulldog puppies do—loving their human with zero concept of boundaries.

And judging by that caption, her human wouldn't have it any other way.Permission granted, Daisy. Invade away.

Pampered Parrot Throws Epic Fit Over ‘Surprise Bath'

Thu, 03/12/2026 - 8:00am

One thing everyone needs to know about parrots of any kind is that they are brats. Lovable, hilarious brats, but brats nonetheless. The smallest things can set them off, even if they're things they typically enjoy!

Recently, one African Grey Parrot decided that he would throw the tantrum of a lifetime. His mom decided to gently mist him, which she hasn't done in a while, and you'd think she tore off each of his feathers individually:

@littletraumamama

He hasn’t had a bath in a while and did not appreciate me misting him. He pitched an epic fit for a good hour afterwards 😬 #parrot #parrotsoftiktok #africangrey #africangreyparrot #talkingparrot

♬ Heartwarming, everyday, funny BGM(1194980) - K's note

Bailey the African Grey Parrot apparently threw a tantrum that lasted an entire hour, which is too funny. African Grey Parrots typically love misting and showers, but this must have caught him off guard, because he was not having it!

Bailey's life has been a pretty decent one; he's 18, and he lived with his first mother for most of that life, until she passed away. Then he was inherited by his new mom, her daughter-in-law! That's not as uncommon as it might seem: with lifespans up to 50 years, these birds are passed down all the time!

Related: African Grey Parrot’s ‘First Word Since Rescue’ Has Mom So Happy

Bailey has a deformed claw, which they think was an injury when he was a baby. He's a generally happy bird, and he gets a lot of love. Most of the time, he gives it back... Unless he's been misted. Then you need to start praying, because it may never end. When he's not throwing a tantrum, he's just yapping:

@littletraumamama

Bailey does most of his talking when he’s alone. I offered to take him with me to get a shower, but he wanted to stay in his cage so I just shut the door and turned his camera on. “WHAT!?” is definitely his new hyperfixation that he picked up from me 😬 #africangreyparrot #africangrey #talkingparrot #parrotsoftiktok #parrotlife

♬ original sound - Christy B. 💙

This yapping session also happened while his mom was in the shower. Something about showering really upsets this boy!

Do Birds Need Water?

Water is very important for all living things, so birds definitely do need access to fresh, clean water all day, every day. That might look different depending on the bird, and you can offer it in ways such as:

  • A water dish in their cage.
  • Giving them a little container of water to dip into.
  • Setting them in the sink.
  • Bringing them into the shower.

Bigger birds, like the African Grey Parrot, are better-suited for full showers than smaller ones. If you are going to let them shower, make sure there's no soap residue anywhere, and don't put any sort of soap on them unless directed by your avian vet. Beware, though: tantrums may occur!

Chewy’s $5 Find Will Have Your Pets’ Paws Feeling ‘Soft as Silk’

Thu, 03/12/2026 - 7:32am

Parade Pets aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

In over 20 years of having dogs in my life, I think that my Jack Russell, Winnie, is the calmest when it comes to putting anything on her, whether it’s lotion or shampoo. At least, she is when I’m the one lending a helping hand.

But, like plenty of our other furry friends, Winnie is picky about what goes on her skin. I get it, since I’m the same way. That’s part of why I would much rather wear a long-sleeve t-shirt instead of putting sunscreen on if I know that I’m going to be out in the sun all day.

Bag Balm Pet has delivered a skin moisturizer versatile enough for every member of the household — two-legged or four — and it’s currently on sale for up to 35% off at Chewy.

Pets (And Humans) Are Loving This Moisturizer
  • It comes in five different sizes, though the 1-fl oz tin and 2-fl oz tube are the ones at least 30% off. Other sizes include a 4-fl oz tin, an 8 fl-oz tin, and a 0.33 fl-oz tube.
  • Chewy says the moisturizer is “uniquely crafted to discourage licking,” which is always terrific to hear.
  • Some shoppers have said that they’ve successfully applied the lotion on themselves and gotten excellent results.
  • For those planning on doing a larger shop at Chewy, please note that new customers get a $20 eGift card and free shipping if they use code WELCOME on orders of at least $49.
Bag Balm 2. oz Pet Skin Moisturizer, $5 (Was $8) on Chewy

Courtesy of Chewy

Hear From Past Buyers

This Bag Balm Pet nose skin moisturizer has a 4.5-star (out of 5.0) rating on Chewy's website. Of the nearly 1,600 customers who have left a rating, nearly 80% gave a perfect five-star score.

When you’re talking about any type of shampoo, lotion, or cream, it’s a must to see people praise how smooth and effective the product in question is. Other shoppers have said the cream is a hit with older pets and those with sensitive skin, too.

  • “The inner folder of skin at her hind legs were always red even with her being an inside dog and regular baths. Now she is just about clear of this issue since using the balm.”
  • “I have read that as dogs get older their paws can become drier and more sensitive, so I wanted to take extra care for him. This product is a great travel size and very easy to use.”

The Bottom Line: If I wouldn’t want a product on my own skin, I’m certainly not going to subject Winnie to it. The Bag Balm Pet nose skin moisturizer sounds like it’d be a home run for both of us, especially if Winnie gets back into the habit of licking whatever lands on her paws during a walk.

Irish Wolfhound Puppy’s ‘Baby Head Hair’ Is Peak Awkward Puppy Stage

Thu, 03/12/2026 - 7:10am

Puppies are like walking fluffballs of cuteness. Their floofy fur, giant paws too big for their bodies, round bellies, and mischievous curiosity are all completely irresistible. There are some less charming aspects of puppyhood like teething and potty mishaps, but it's still a little sad when they grow out of this adorable baby stage.

Buffalo the Irish Wolfhound is still in that baby/toddler phase and has the wispy, slightly unruly hairdo to prove it.

@buffalothewolfhound

What do you think about my baby head hair? I guess it is pretty cute cause I’m cute! #puppylife #puppytiktok #doglife #irishwolfhoundsoftiktok #irishwolfhound

♬ original sound - Sang Kucing - Sang Kucing

The canine cutie was lying on some blankets, enjoying a chewy bone in the TikTok from @buffalothewolfhound. Buffalo is still in a youthful puppy stage, yet shows signs of the trademark long and lanky body of Irish Wolfhounds. His noticeably big paws hint at Buffalo growing up to be a very big boy.

The hair on Buffalo's head was all puppy. Super scruffy and sticking straight up, his fur gave off pure puppy bedhead vibes. The fine strands seem to meet up into a point in the middle, almost like a faux mohawk, making the canine's coiffure even cuter. Apparently, Buffalo's parents want him to stay in this endearing phase.

"Mom and Dad want me to keep my baby head hair forever!" the onscreen text read, with the caption adding, "What do you think about my baby head hair? I guess it is pretty cute 'cause I’m cute!"

Followers totally agreed with the pup's parents and fell in love with Buffalo and his just-rolled-out-of-bed look.

"Buffalo, you are precious and trust me when I say, there are humans in this world who would pay high dollar for your hairdo!!" one raved.

"Love the little fuzzy stripe in the middle! Don’t lose it, Buffalo!" another pointed out.

"I swear the little spikes they get at this age are so cute," a follower remarked.

"The baby wolfie mohawk goes perfectly with the top hat ears," someone noted.

How Big Are Irish Wolfhounds at Adulthood?

This beautiful breed is known for its mammoth size and gentle heart. Irish Wolfhounds typically grow to approximately 32 to 35 inches in height at the shoulder when they reach adulthood. These colossal canines can weigh between 115 and 180 pounds, with males at the higher end.

Related: Golden Retriever Puppy Refusing to Sleep in Crate Brings the Cutest Toddler Energy

Irish Wolfhounds are large during puppyhood, tipping the scales from 105 to 143 pounds at just 10 months old.

Buffalo is already a substantial size and will continue to grow, though we're all hoping he keeps that adorable hairdo.

In fact, feline guarding behaviors are how cats look out for their owner. To learn about all of the signs your cat protects you, keep reading to discover 5 ways they demonstrate devotion.

Experts say the signs of feline devotion are soft and subtle, so they can be easy to miss if you don't know what the signs your cat is watching over you are or you aren't familiar with the ways cats tend to protect their humans. In some cases, your cat might simply stick close and keep an eye on you, offering tiny gestures that signal trust and care. In other moments, they may do something super under the radar. While cats won’t make a big show of it and there are some unusual ways cats show love, their loyalty is there in everyday moments.

If you're a pet parent, just know it's not about overthinking your cat's every tiny move. It’s about noticing the small, almost invisible ways your cat shows they love you. If you pay attention, you might realize your furry companion has been looking out for you all along in their own special way. So, is your cat secretly protecting you? To find out some surprising cat behaviors that show they are, below are five signs you should watch for, according to cat experts.

Your cat might be more than just a cuddly companion—they can be quietly protective of their humans. By noticing subtle behaviors like guarding, following, or staying close, you can spot the signs your cat is protecting you and showing their loyalty in ways you might not expect.

They Wait at the Door

What's one of the signs your cat is protecting you? They wait for you by the door! In fact, when certified cat behavior consultant Joey Lusvardi of Class Act Cats first set up a security camera in his home, he says he noticed his cat would patiently wait at the door around the time he was due home. “He'd also jump up as soon as any noise associated with my return happened,” he reveals.

Yet this protective cat behavior isn’t simply a sign of excitement. Cats are instinctively aware of their surroundings, and waiting at the door is a way of monitoring their environment for your safety. By positioning themselves at the entrance, they’re practicing feline guarding behavior, detecting changes, noises, or anything out of the ordinary before you walk in—almost like a quiet guardian.

This behavior demonstrates a deep bond, loyalty, and protective instincts in cats. In short, your cat is showing their love and doing their part to keep you safe, reinforcing why so many cat owners notice these subtle but meaningful signs their cat is protecting them.

They Sleep Near You

Have you ever thought to yourself, "Why does my cat stay near me?" Well, it's a sign your cat is protecting you, especially when they choose to sleep near you. Cats sometimes want to be close without seeking attention.“They may sleep near you on a couch or on your bed when you're sleeping,” Lusvardi says. “This is a sign that they feel safe around you.”

Sleeping near you goes beyond companionship. Cats remain alert to subtle movements or sounds in their environment, even when they rest, and this protective cat behavior allows them to monitor their environment for your safety. So, if you've ever wondered why cats watch you sleep, it's because they care about you. By choosing to sleep near you, they’re positioning themselves to detect potential danger and respond quickly if needed.

They Rub Against You

Smell is very important to cats and it's how they identify both humans and other cats. Because of this, cats will often rub against people they like. When a cat repeatedly rubs against you, it’s more than just affection, our experts say it’s a subtle form of protective behavior and a way of claiming you as part of their trusted circle. “If you notice your cat is rubbing against your legs frequently, it's a sign they're loyal to you because they want other cats to know they were there,” Lusvardi says. “Depending on the cat, they may rub their head against you or they may rub their side and slightly wrap their tail around you. Either way, it's a positive sign.”

Cats have scent glands on their face and head, adds Dr. Nathaniel Rakestraw, veterinarian at TelaVets.com. “When they rub against you, they’re marking you as familiar and safe,” he explains. “It’s their way of saying, ‘You’re part of my inner circle.’”

By leaving their scent on you, your cat is practicing protective cat behavior and asserting feline guarding instincts. This marking is a way a cat communicates to other animals that you’re theirs to watch over, almost like a silent declaration that they’re committed to keeping you safe. While it may seem like a simple rub, this gesture is a meaningful sign your cat is protecting you, showcasing loyalty, care and a deep bond between cat and owner.

They Blink Slowly

A slow blink from your cat—often called a “cat kiss”—it's how your cat talks with its eyes and is a subtle but powerful sign your cat is protecting you and feels completely safe in your presence. “In animal behavior, staring can be a threat, so when a cat slowly closes and opens their eyes around you, it’s a signal of trust,” Rakestraw says. “Many cats will even blink back if you do it first.”

Slow blinking is more than just affection. It’s a display of vulnerability and confidence, showing your cat’s protective instincts and feline guarding behavior. By slowly closing their eyes near you, your cat signals that they feel secure in your presence, creating a shared sense of safety. It’s their unique way of saying, “I trust you, and I’m keeping watch in my own quiet way.”

They Show Their Belly

When a cat rolls over and shows their belly, it’s one of the clearest signs your cat is protecting you and trusts you deeply. This gesture is often misunderstood as an invitation to touch, but in reality, it reflects confidence and vulnerability and feeling safe. “The belly protects vital organs,” Rakestraw says. By showing their belly, your cat is showing they aren't fearful in that moment.

Exposing their most vulnerable area is one of the biggest indicators that your cat is letting you know everything is good and it's safe. By doing this, your cat also demonstrates a reciprocal sense of protection. They show that they trust you to keep them safe as well, but they’re also willing to remain close, alert and aware of any changes in the environment at the same time. Showing their belly is a clear, unmistakable sign that you’re considered a member of their inner circle too and a gesture to your cat’s loyalty, care and protective instincts.

Little Girl’s Sweet Conversation With Elephant Is Unexpectedly Heartwarming

Wed, 03/11/2026 - 8:48pm

Picture this: You kneel down to speak to your dog or whisper to a nervous cat, and somehow they seem to understand the emotion behind your words. You likely experience a version of this story every day at home, but in a recent Reddit video, we see the same connection on a much bigger scale—elephant-sized, to be exact.

As a little girl offers food to an elephant, she speaks kindly, and the giant animal responds in a happy and heartwarming way. It is a reminder that respect and calm communication often shape how animals respond to us. At first glance, it looks like a normal feeding moment, but it is a much deeper connection.

As the girl is talking, we see the elephant wagging his trunk. He is clearly as happy as he can be, and the girl is excited to feed the elephant as well. The elephant opens his mouth and allows the girl to feed him from her hand.

What Are Fans Saying About It?

The video went viral on Reddit, and we can see why. More then 500 people commented on it, and many comments praised elephants and their intelligence and character. Some of the comments included things like “I love how elephants are so intelligent” and “They seem so gentle too like they really understand the people around them.”

According to one commenter, the girl is already known on social media for her special friendship with elephants. One commenter said, “I’ve seen other videos of her feeding her elephant friend different types of fruit. She shouts his / her name and it comes running to her. Kisses are a regular thing too! Very cute.”

Are Elephants Dangerous?

Elephants are among the largest land animals on Earth, and their size alone means they can be dangerous if they feel threatened.

Adult African elephants can weigh up to 13,000 pounds. A single swipe of the trunk or a defensive charge can cause serious harm. In the wild, elephants sometimes attack vehicles or people when they believe their herd is at risk.

Wildlife researchers emphasize that elephants are highly intelligent and emotionally complex animals. They form strong family bonds and remember threats for years. When people enter their space unexpectedly, elephants may react defensively.

How Elephants Can Be Trained to Interact Calmly With People

Despite their size, elephants are capable of learning complex behaviors through consistent training and trust-building.

Handlers often use positive reinforcement, the same training method we see for dog training. When the elephant performs the desired behavior, they reward him with fruits or vegetables. Over time, elephants learn to associate human voices and cues with safe routines.

In wildlife parks and sanctuaries, elephants go through extensive behavior training to keep both animals and humans safe.

Pudgy Beagle Puppy Who Just Ate Dinner Immediately Demands More Food

Wed, 03/11/2026 - 8:20pm

Beagles are famous for loving food. In fact, if you ask most Beagle parents, they will tell you their dogs behave like they have never been fed a single meal in their entire lives.

Which makes the tiny Beagle puppy in this video both extremely relatable and extremely suspicious.

Because, according to the caption, this little guy had just finished dinner… and then immediately came back to the kitchen 5 minutes later to ask for another one.

@beagle.d

Pupdate 538 - I just had a nice meal, but that doesn’t stop me from asking for more by entering the kitchen 5 minutes later 🤪 #scotchvilla #beagle #dogslife #doggo #chonky #fluffy #pupper #cutedogs

@beagle.d shared the cute video on TikTok, and it shows the adorable puppy standing in the kitchen whining and staring up like he has just experienced the greatest injustice in the history of dogs.

The caption reads, “Pupdate 538—I just had a nice meal, but that doesn’t stop me from asking for more by entering the kitchen 5 minutes later.”

Related: Golden Wolfdog Puppy’s Icy-Blue Eyes Are Impossible To Ignore

The puppy’s plan appears to be simple: stand in the kitchen, look extremely hungry, and hope nobody remembers that dinner that happened moments ago.

And judging by his extremely pudgy little legs and belly rolls, it is safe to say this pup has not been skipping meals.

Viewers in the comments were immediately on the puppy’s side.

“So I’m actually his lawyer, and he tells me he’s… checks notes… never ever been fed. Not even once. Care to explain?” one person joked.

Another viewer could not get over how cute the puppy looked.

“Um, why is this the cutest freaking Beagle I have ever seen in my life?”

Several commenters also noticed the tiny rolls on his legs.

“Awww, the rolls on his paws.”

“Oh my God, his little cankles.”

Of course, many people insisted the puppy was clearly starving.

“He’s clearly wasting away. Feed him again,” one person wrote.

Another commenter delivered what might be the most accurate explanation for the situation:

“Beagles have a black hole in their stomachs. It sucks everything in. Nothing can escape the event horizon, more commonly called the Beagle nose.”

And one person made the demand that many viewers were thinking.

“You give the baby second dinner right now.”

How Much Should a Growing Puppy Eat? Golden Retriever puppy looks up while eating food.

Image Via: belefront/Shutterstock

Growing puppies need regular meals to support their development, but the exact amount of food depends on their breed, size, and age. Most puppies are typically fed three to four smaller meals throughout the day rather than one large portion.

Veterinarians often recommend following the feeding guidelines on puppy food packaging and adjusting based on your pup’s growth and activity level. Because puppies grow quickly, their calorie needs can change frequently during the first year.

If you're unsure about how much to feed your puppy, your veterinarian can help create a feeding plan that will help your pet eat the exact amount of food they need.

How To Know If Your Puppy Has a Weight Problem English Bulldog looking at the camera.

Image Via: Twinkle Studio/Shutterstock

Puppies naturally go through awkward, chunky phases while they grow, so a little roundness is not unusual.

However, if a puppy consistently appears very overweight or gains weight rapidly, it may be worth discussing their diet and exercise with a veterinarian.

One easy way to check is by gently feeling your puppy’s ribs. You should be able to feel them under a light layer of fat without pressing too hard. If the ribs are difficult to feel or your pup has very little waist definition, they may be carrying extra weight.

Of course, judging by the tiny rolls on this Beagle puppy, it looks like he is doing just fine when it comes to getting enough food.

The real challenge may be convincing him that dinner only happens once a night.

This $10 Scratcher at Five Below Will Turn Your Cat Into the Cutest DJ

Wed, 03/11/2026 - 7:55pm

If your cat already has main character energy, this playful scratching toy might take things to the next level.

Five Below is selling a cat scratcher for just $10, and it’s designed to look like a miniature DJ setup—complete with a cardboard “record” your cat can scratch to their heart’s content.

DJ Turntable Cat Scratcher, $10 at Five Below
DJ Turntable Cat Scratcher

Five Below

The scratcher features a flat cardboard scratching surface designed to resemble a turntable platter, with a small faux tonearm and colorful graphics around the base. Once your cat starts scratching the cardboard record, it doesn’t take much imagination to picture them dropping beats like a tiny feline producer.

Measuring about 19.6 inches by 15.7 inches, the scratcher is large enough for most cats to comfortably stand on while they scratch and stretch.

Related: Chewy Is Selling the Cutest ‘Flower Shop’ Cat House, and It’s Purr-fect for Spring

Includes Catnip to Get the Party Started

The scratcher comes with catnip, which can help pique your cat’s curiosity about their new “DJ booth.”

Catnip contains a natural compound called nepetalactone, which many cats respond to with bursts of playful behavior—rolling, rubbing, pouncing or enthusiastic scratching. Sprinkling a small pinch onto the cardboard “record” can encourage your cat to investigate the toy and start using it right away.

The effect doesn’t last forever. Most cats respond to catnip for about 10 to 15 minutes before losing interest for a while, but it can be a helpful way to introduce a new scratching surface. After the initial excitement wears off, your cat may continue returning to the scratcher because they remember how much fun they had with it.

And once your cat starts “dropping the beat” on their new turntable, it could quickly become their favorite place to scratch—hopefully saving your couch in the process.

Thanks to its playful design, the scratcher can also double as a fun conversation piece (and a pretty hilarious photo opportunity).

Why Scratching Is So Important for Cats

Scratching serves an important purpose for cats, especially for those that live indoors.

Scratching helps cats maintain healthy claws by removing the outer layer of the nail. It also allows them to stretch their muscles, particularly in their shoulders and back.

Just as importantly, scratching is a natural form of communication. Cats have scent glands in their paws, so when they scratch a surface, they leave behind both a visual mark and a scent signal.

For indoor cats, scratching also provides an outlet for stress relief and mental stimulation. Without appropriate scratching surfaces, many cats will turn their attention to furniture, carpets or door frames instead.

Providing dedicated scratchers around the home, whether they’re scratching posts or playful designs like this DJ turntable, can help redirect that behavior to something more appropriate.

And if your cat happens to look like they’re spinning a record while doing it, that’s just an added bonus.

Sweet Husky Finds 'True Calling' as Devoted Big Brother to Human Baby

Wed, 03/11/2026 - 7:55pm

The only thing better than watching an older child care for their younger sibling is seeing all the ways your dog steps up. From the moment a new baby comes home from the hospital, they know it's their job to love and protect forevermore.

This is exactly what a Husky named Theo did with his little human brother from the start, and now he's repeating history with his infant sister. It's been six months since she joined the family, and not only has Theo prided himself as her big brother, but he has also found his true calling as her number one friend.

This is his calling in life.. 💖 #dogandbaby #dogsarefamily #huskylife #huskylove

♬ original sound - jacquelinethoma

As a Husky, it's in Theo's nature to be so vigilant about his sister's safety and care. He may not have always understood why teaching her to play fetch wasn't working, or why she cries sometimes, but he maintains his supervisory duties like the best little fur helper. Of all the ways Theo's been there, he's:

  • Watched over tummy time even when he was exhausted
  • Helped detect dirty diapers and alerted Mom and Dad
  • Offered comic relief when little sis felt grumpy
  • Continues teaching the baby how to "speak" through howling

With a TikTok bio that describes him as "just a Husky raising his tiny humans," I'd say Theo's fulfilling his ultimate purpose well.

Related: Husky Turning New Rescue Puppy Sibling Into a 'Movie Buff' Couldn't Be Sweeter

It's clear that watching over his small humans has been the greatest joy of Theo's life. From Mom's pregnancy, he deemed himself the one who'd check and double-check all the baby's things, like the crib.

Once they joined the world, sweet Theo's job really began, and he couldn't wait for the opportunity—even if it meant never letting them out of his sight. The love from pets is the most perfect kind of love, and he's proof.

For a breed known for being friendly, gentle, and playful, there are many reasons Huskies are great for families with children. These sweet pups are intensely loyal to their people and aren't the aggressive type. With proper training and socialization, their high-energy needs won't lead to accidentally knocking a baby over.

If anything, Huskies (like Theo) respond well to learning how they can be a good helper around any little ones.

Dachshund With No Concept of Personal Space Uses Mom’s Hair as a Blanket

Wed, 03/11/2026 - 7:20pm

Anyone who has ever shared a home with a Dachshund knows one very important fact about the breed. Personal space is not something they believe in.

Dachshunds are famous for wanting to be as close to their humans as physically possible, which means cuddling, burrowing, and occasionally inventing new and extremely creative ways to stay warm.

@eequfd

♬ original sound - eEq uFD

The adorably silly video was shared to the TikTok account @eequfd, and it perfectly captures just how committed Dachshunds are to maximum coziness.

The clip shows a dog mom lying in bed with her head resting on a pillow, as her Dachshund slowly scooches closer and closer until his little snout shows up almost entirely under her long hair.

Related: Blind and Deaf Mini Dachshund Wearing Girly Blue Bows Is Melting Hearts

Eventually, only his tiny face pokes out, looking extremely pleased with himself as he uses her hair like the world’s softest blanket.

The caption reads, “Dachshunds have no boundaries,” which honestly feels like a very accurate description of the breed.

Viewers in the comments immediately recognized the behavior.

Dachshunds are so clingy, they would hide in your organs if they could,” one person joked.

Another commenter pointed out that the dog might actually be doing his human a favor.

“He’s giving you heatless curls, sis. Be grateful.”

Other people admired the Dachshund’s impressive hiding skills.

“Expert level hiding,” someone wrote.

Several fellow Dachshund parents confirmed that this type of behavior is completely normal.

“My Dachshund tries to eat my hair. You are lucky, girl,” one viewer said.

Another added, “My Dachshund always has to be under my jumper as well as the blanket.”

And one person summed up the moment perfectly.

“Hair burrito. New phenomenon. Excellent.”

Of course, the little dog in the video clearly believes he has found the most comfortable place in the entire house.

As one person put it, “I do not see any problems.”

Are Dachshunds Clingy Dogs? Dachshund looking up at Mom.

Image Via: Cavan-Images/Shutterstock

Dachshunds are often described as “Velcro dogs,” meaning they form extremely strong bonds with their humans and like to stay close whenever possible.

Originally bred to hunt badgers and other burrowing animals, Dachshunds are natural snugglers who love warm, enclosed spaces. That instinct is why many of them enjoy burrowing under blankets, pillows, and sometimes even clothing.

Because of this, it's very common for Dachshunds to follow their humans from room to room, curl up beside them on the couch, or find creative ways to stay close at bedtime.

So while this little dog using his mom’s hair as a blanket might look unusual at first glance, most Dachshund parents would probably say the same thing.

That pup is exactly where he wants to be.

What's Up With Dogs Burrowing? A small dog burrowed under a blanket.

Image Via: eva_blanco/Shutterstock

If your dog loves tunneling under blankets, pillows, or even your laundry pile, you’re definitely not alone. Burrowing is actually a natural behavior for many dogs, especially breeds like Dachshunds, who were originally bred to chase animals into underground tunnels. Digging, tunneling, and squeezing into cozy spaces is part of their instinct.

On a softer level, burrowing can also simply mean your dog feels safe and comfy. Warm, enclosed spots mimic the feeling of a den, which is where dogs naturally rest and relax. So when a pup dives under a blanket, or in this case, a pile of hair, they’re basically creating their own tiny cozy cave. For many dogs, it’s the ultimate combination of warmth, security, and being close to their favorite human. Or else, yeah, your hair just smells really good.

Golden Retriever Overcome With Cries of Joy When Best Friend Comes Home for Spring Break

Wed, 03/11/2026 - 7:00pm

College is so fun... For the humans. While we're off learning, making new friends, and having fun, though, there's often somebody with four legs and a big heart missing us. That's what makes breaks so necessary!

Just look at this Golden Retriever! When her best friend comes home for spring break, she's legitimately beside herself with joy. It took him forever to actually come inside, but she knew he would, and she was so excited:

@wendykirklandhojnacki

♬ original sound - Wendy Kirkland Hojna

Wendy Kirkland has two very adorable Golden Retrievers, and I bet they were both equally excited to see their shared best friend! Though there aren't a lot of videos on their account just yet, these two girls are proving to be stars!

The best part is how big their cries get; these two go from little whines of excitement to full-blown barking over the course of the video! They really wanted him (and the whole neighborhood) to know how much they missed him.

I'm sure their mom is ecstatic, too: not only does she get to see her kid, but now she has someone to take the dogs off her back! She loves them dearly, but they can be a little overwhelming sometimes:

@wendykirklandhojnacki

Lucky for them, she loves them too much to stay annoyed for long. It's hard not to. They're just so silly!

Dogs Miss Us While We're Away

Some people think that dogs don't have great memories, but that's just not true. In fact, some studies suggest that dogs can remember people, places, and things from years ago, especially if they've endured trauma.

While dogs might not spend all day, every day moping about how they miss a member of your family who's gone away, you might notice that they:

  • Prefer to visit their room/sleep with something that smells like them.
  • Perk up whenever a car drives by.
  • Sit by spots they know their missing person frequented.
  • In more severe cases, develop and exhibit signs of separation anxiety.

If you're worried that your dog will forget you while you're gone, you shouldn't be. Your pup won't forget you, though they might pretend to be mad for a minute or two!

Golden Retriever Teaches Puppy Brother 'How Morning Wake Ups Are Done,' and We Think It's Heaven

Wed, 03/11/2026 - 6:50pm

Big brother Golden Retriever Beau has his parents' morning wake-up routine down, so it was time to teach baby bro Wylder exactly how things "get done around here" in this amazing TikTok video. The happiness of these two Goldens is infectious, and I can't imagine a better way to start my day than with this much love and cuteness.

Bounding through the door first is Beau, running elite-level zoomie circles around his parents in the bed with a proud smile on his handsome face. Next in comes little Wylder, more tentative at first than his big bro, but still happy to be included. He starts to get the hang of the whole tornado dance as the video progresses, and by the end, the two cuties are playing together, nestled among the morning blankets with their humans. If I had to arrange a wake-up call, this one is about as perfect as it gets.

Why Dogs Treat Every Morning Like the Best Morning Ever

If you live with a dog, you know the routine: the second you open your eyes, your dog greets you like you’ve just returned from a months-long expedition. Tail wagging, happy wiggles, maybe a few enthusiastic licks. Every. Single. Morning. Why? This blog post says it best: mornings are a big deal in the dog world.

Part of that excitement is biological. Dogs run on internal clocks, and morning usually means two very important things: breakfast and the first potty break of the day. After a full night of waiting, the moment you stir signals that both of those needs are finally within reach.

But food and bathroom breaks aren’t the whole story. Dogs are deeply social animals that see their humans as part of their pack. A long night apart can feel like a meaningful separation, so waking up and seeing you again is essentially a little reunion.

There’s also the promise of the day ahead. Walks, playtime, new smells, attention, and cuddles are all possibilities once the household wakes up. In other words, dogs greet every morning like it’s the start of a brand-new adventure — and they’re thrilled you’re part of it.

As am I. We really don't deserve dogs, do we?

Mini Dachshund Nearly Takes Flight When His Ears Catch Wind

Wed, 03/11/2026 - 6:35pm

Dachshunds and Mini Dachshunds are generally known for their low, long bodies and actively moving tails. Dachshunds also have long, floppy ears that are proportionally bigger than their small heads and long, lean bodies. Mini Dachshunds’ head-to-ear ratio is even greater, making the breed’s ears one of their defining characteristics—not to mention one of the most charming.

Big dog ears can also mean big opportunities for cute social media videos, including one that just dropped into our TikTok feed depicting what happens to a Mini Dachshund's ears on a particularly windy day. In the video, a cute Mini Dachshund named Winnie nearly becomes airborne when a massive gust of wind takes his floppy ears by storm and almost sends the pup flying.

Take a peek at the video, and then keep reading for the best of this post’s comment section.

“Winnie you’re adorable,” gushed one commenter. Another added, “Winnie is loving that.”

“Cute,” shared another.

“Hold on tight! He might go airborne any minute!” shared one more.

While it may seem like the Mini Dachshund’s ears are here to bring us social media viewers joy, which they do, the breed’s ears actually serve a purpose and are the result of selective breeding. Dachshunds were originally bred as badger hunters. Their long floppy ears trapped scent molecules near their noses, making tracking scents easier.

Dachshunds’ floppy ears also help keep the dog’s ear canal clean and free of dirt and debris. Thicker than many other breeds’ ears, Dachshunds’ ears are also designed to be durable and rugged, helping prevent them from getting easily torn or damaged while hunting badgers.
