7 Dog Behaviors That Are Actually Devotion Signs
At times, it can feel like you and your dog are on a totally different wavelength. You adore them and vice-versa, but because dogs communicate through body language, sometimes what they are trying to say can be hard to decode when it comes to signs of dog affection. That’s especially true when you catch your dog acting a little odd and displaying somewhat weird behaviors. In those moments you may be wondering, "Why does my dog do awkward things?” It turns out, those actions could be displays of love. To help you understand your dog better, we rounded up 7 awkward dog behaviors that are actually signs of devotion, according to trainers.
"To a dog that adores you, you’re their lifeline, their safe haven and their favorite person,” says Shannon Walker, dog trainer and founder of Northwest Battle Buddies. Though pet parents don't always pick up on how dogs show love. “Dogs can show their devotion in subtle ways that are often rooted in social bonding,” says Erin Askeland, CPDT-KA, CBCC-KA, Camp Bow Wow's animal health and behavior expert.
So, while people know dogs who are ready to protect them against an intruder (real and imagined) consider that a sign of dog faithfullness, pet experts say other signs a dog is commited to their owner can be less obvious. Trainers recommend being on the lookout for the quirky dog behaviors below so you can see what your dog’s awkward habits really mean. Once you're able to decode your dog's body language, you'll know how to tell if your dog is devoted to you or not. You may be surprised to learn that they are ways dogs show unwavering loyalty.

7 Weird Dog Behaviors That Mean They Love You A dog watching its owner. Not all signs of dog devotion are obvious, some are downright quirky! Understanding how dogs show love and attachment can help you strengthen your bond and recognize your pup’s affection. From unusual body language to funny habits, these awkward dog behaviors are actually clear indicators of loyalty, trust, and love. Trainers say that paying attention to these unique ways dogs express themselves can help you better understand your pet’s personality and emotional needs.
They stare at youIt can be a little odd when you’re looking around the room and see your pup staring at you with big heart eyes. If you dog won't look away, take it as a compliment because while it can be a bizzare dog behavior, it means they’re all in with you. “A big sign your dog is devoted is gentle eye contact,” says Elisha Stynchula, CPDT-KA, certified dog trainer and owner of I Said Sit School for Dogs.
Askeland agrees, adding, “A shy, unsure dog is a lot less likely to make direct eye contact.” "When a dog looks at you with relaxed eyes and a loose body, studies show this actually triggers the release of oxytocin, which is the same bonding hormone involved in parent-child attachment.”
They’re constantly touching youThere’s a paw on your knee and a nose nudging your hand, which can make it feel like your dog is a physical extension of you. This dog body language is actually a clear sign of dog loyalty and affection, according to Stynchula. “A dog that leans on you and happily accepts scratches and cuddles is showing trust, comfort and attachment,” she says. Walker adds, “Dogs strongly attached to their owners naturally look for ways to stay in touch—literally. They may rest their full weight on your leg, nuzzle your hand for more petting, or lay their head on your lap and shoulder, demonstrating the unique ways dogs show love and loyalty.”
They do a ‘helicopter’ tailIt’s impressive to watch your pup circle their tail so much that it looks like they’ll leave the ground at any moment. This funny and sometimes awkward-looking dog behavior is a good thing. “Dogs that greet you with a big helicopter tail and wiggly body are thrilled to see you and a good sign of devotion,” Stynchula says. Just be on the lookout for greetings that seem desperate, she says—that can be a sign that your dog needs some separation training.
However, overall, this dog behavior is one of the many quirky dog habits that actually reveal how dogs show love, attachment and trust toward their owners.
Related: 7 Signs You Have an Unbreakable Bond with Your Dog, According to a Trainer
They rubber-neck for youHow dogs show love can be strange at times. While dependable dogs will happily explore their surroundings, they often check back in with their owner. According to Askeland, “When your dog explores but decides to periodically look back at you, it’s a clear sign of dog devotion and affection. This behavior shows your dog trusts you, values you as their home base, and demonstrates the unique ways dogs express loyalty and attachment.”
They low-key stalk youWhen it comes to awkward dog habits, walking into the bathroom and seeing you pooch is there waitng on you can be considered one. You may notice them watching you get changed, and you catch them peeking at you around the corner when you’re working from home. A dog following you around and low-key stalking you calmly and quietly from room to room is a ride-or-die dog, according to Askeland. “In canine social groups, closeness equates to increased safety,” she explains. “So they’re staying close to their trusted person to feel safe.”
That's why the next time you realize your furry family member is doing this, you won't be thinking, "Why does my dog follow me?" Instead, you'll know it's a weird sign of dog affection.
They try to ‘push’ youOh, were you standing there? It can feel like your dog is trying to shove you out of the way sometimes when they put their full body weight against you, but Askeland says they’re just trying to get as close as possible. This quirky dog behavior of your pup leaning into you shows your pooch trusts you and is devoted to you. "Having this kind of contact reinforces that your dog feels safe with you," she explains.
They ignore other peopleWell, this dog behavior can be awkward—for everyone else. One weird dog behavior that mean they love you can be when devoted dogs ignore other people in order to zero in on their favorite human, aka you. “They prefer your company over others and prioritize your commands over those from other family members,” Walker says. Your loyal pooch may also choose you over other people or opportunities around them, Askeland says. “If you’re in a group of friends and they gravitate towards you for attention even if it’s being offered by others, that’s a sign your pup is devoted to you,” she says.

Chewy Is Selling a Gigantic Human-Sized Dog Bed That’s ‘Very Soft and Washable'
Parade Pets aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.
As an early riser who works from home, there naturally — and hopefully, understandably — comes a time most days where I feel the urge to nap.
But, because there is work to be done, I might lie on the couch for a few minutes and watch YouTube videos. If my Jack Russell, Winnie, doesn’t come and join me, she’ll usually stare at me from her dog bed, which is currently seated next to the reclining chair in my living room.
Chewy seems to have read my mind, offering the perfect solution for pet parents who aren’t afraid to admit they’d rather be at eye-level with their furry friends.
The Bedsure folding giant dog bed, which it touts as “human size,” is currently on sale at Chewy for only $130 -- a worthwhile investment for any pet parent who craves comfort and snuggles.
What to Know Before You Buy- At 20 pounds, this bed is surprisingly portable despite being spacious enough to accommodate you and your pup — whether you’re wrangling a tiny Yorkie or a sprawling Goldendoodle.
- The cushioned bolster and foam are designed to provide head and neck support. I wish I had that kind of setup when I was in college.
- This bed is currently available in dark gray (pictured below).
- New customers get a $20 eGift card and free shipping if they use code WELCOME on orders that are least $49 (this order qualifies).

Reviews: What Buyers Say About This Fluff-tastic Dog BedAs of March 2026, this oversized bed has a 4.7-star rating (out of 5.0) on Chewy. Nearly 90% of shoppers have left a five-star review, and the feedback is filled with touching stories about how helpful this bed is for older dogs or those with health problems.
Sophie, my Jack Russell for nearly 20 years, still slept in the bed with me even after a 2021 stroke and 2022 sickness.
What have other buyers said?
- “The cover is very soft and washable. ... I recommend this for anyone who has a dog with physical needs who still wants to be close to their human.”
- “When our friends dog comes to visit we fold it out for the slumber party and everyone fits!"
- "All our dogs have tried it & everyone likes this huge bed."
The Bottom Line: Every dog that I’ve had, going back to when Sophie entered my life in 2005, has slept with me in the bed. Sophie and Winnie have both been massive fans of dog beds, too. Maybe the solution isn’t the couch, after all. Who needs a sofa and a throw pillow when you can have a human-sized dog bed and a furry friend by your side?
Golden Retriever Meets a Worm for the First Time and His Mind Is Blown
A Golden Retriever discovering a worm for the first time might not sound like a major life event, but for one curious pup named Marley, it turned into a full-blown, unhinged investigation. The hilarious Golden Retriever video shows the dog encountering a tiny worm during a rainy walk, and his reaction is equal parts curiosity, confusion, and dramatic retreat.
Golden Retrievers are known for their goofy personalities and love of exploring the outdoors, which means they often come face-to-face with all kinds of unexpected things on walks. In Marley’s case, that unexpected discovery just happened to be a very wiggly worm.

♬ Stealthy mischief(1088178) - KBYSThe precious video was uploaded to the TikTok account @oopsitsmarley1, and it shows Marley spotting the worm on the sidewalk during a rainy-day walk.

Marley jumps back like he has just discovered a tiny alien life-form. Then he creeps forward again, tail wagging, before hopping sideways as if he's trying to decide whether the worm is friend, enemy, or some sort of forbidden noodle. He pounces near it, backs away again, snorts at it, and circles around while his dog mom laughs in the background at the dramatic investigation unfolding.
The whole thing has the chaotic energy of someone encountering a bug in their house and not being emotionally prepared for it. People in the comments had a lot to say about the situation, especially because many dogs apparently react to worms in very different ways.
“My dog just rolls on the worms,” one person admitted.
Another added, “Stranger danger!”
Someone else joked that Marley might actually be the sensible one.
“Good thing Marley is afraid… my Lab just eats them before I can even get him away from them.”
Other dog parents shared equally questionable habits.
“Usually my dog rolls on worms… you are so lucky,” one viewer wrote.
Another commenter said, “I have a male Chihuahua who loves to rub all over the worms after it rains. Any bug, really. So weird.”
And one person summed up Marley’s dramatic reaction perfectly.
“Dude, I feel the same way.” Samesies.
Why Your Dog Loves To Roll Around on Worms and Other Stinky Things A Beagle rolling in the grass.Image via Raindog Photography/Shutterstock
As strange as it seems, many dogs love to roll in worms, dead bugs, or other things with unpleasant smells they find outside.
Experts believe this behavior comes from their wild ancestors. Wolves and other wild canines sometimes roll in strong scents to mask their own smell while hunting, helping them blend in with their surroundings.
Another theory is that pups simply enjoy bringing interesting scents back to their homes. In other words, when your dog rolls in something gross, they might be proudly showing off a new smell they discovered.
Of course, that doesn’t make it any less disgusting when it happens right before your dog jumps into the car.
Luckily for Marley, he seems far more interested in investigating worms than wearing them as cologne, which is probably a huge relief for his dog mom.
Can Dogs Eat Worms? @mrspeed2.0He loves them. #dewormer #bostonterrier #worms #dogsofttiktok
♬ เสียงต้นฉบับ - ROSE 🌹🥀 - ROSE 🌹🥀Most of the time, eating a worm won’t seriously harm a dog, but it’s still something pet parents should discourage. Earthworms themselves are not toxic, but they can carry parasites or bacteria that could upset a pup’s stomach. In some cases, worms may also have come into contact with lawn chemicals or pesticides, which could make them unsafe to eat.
If your dog occasionally tries to snack on a worm during a walk, it usually isn’t an emergency, but it’s best to redirect them and make sure they stay up to date on parasite prevention. If your pup eats worms frequently or shows signs like vomiting, diarrhea, or lethargy afterward, it’s always a good idea to check in with your veterinarian.

This Absolute Unit of a Cat Looks Like a Pit Bull in Feline Form
Cats come in all shapes and sizes, but every now and then one pops up online that makes people do a double-take.
That’s exactly what happened when a particularly muscular feline appeared on Reddit’s r/SupermodelCats subreddit. The post, titled “Mr. nice guy (Pit Bull Cat),” features a gray-and-white cat whose broad chest, sturdy stance and intense stare have people joking that he looks less like a house cat and more like a tiny pit bull.

Meet Mr. Nice GuyStanding squarely with his paws planted and his bright green eyes locked on the camera, the cat has the kind of confident posture that makes him look like he’s ready to guard the snack cabinet or fight off anyone that dares try to take his favorite lounging spot.
What People Are SayingNaturally, Reddit users had plenty to say about the striking-looking feline.
Some commenters thought the cat looked like a familiar animated character on a popular TV show. “He looks like Mr Jim Business, Gayle's cat from Bob's Burgers,” one Redditor wrote in the Reddit comment section.
Others joked that the cat’s adorably tough appearance might have healing powers. “Is this how my depression is cured?” another person quipped.
A few people imagined what it might be like to meet this powerhouse kitty in real life. “Dude looks like hes gonna push me down and steal my treats,” one commenter joked.
And of course, someone summed up the cat’s tough-guy vibe perfectly with this comparison: “If Chuck Norris was a cat.”
Related: Gentle Special-Needs Cat Looks Like an Old-Timey Raccoon
He's Actually a Big SoftieDespite the jokes about his intimidating build, the original poster’s title suggests the cat is actually quite the sweetheart—hence the nickname “Mr. Nice Guy.” And judging by other posts the user shared of Mr. Nice Guy rolling around like a big, soft baby, his tough-guy appearance might be a little misleading.
In reality, many cats with stocky builds or broader faces simply have genetics that give them a more muscular appearance. Certain breeds, such as British shorthairs, chartreux and some mixed-breed domestic shorthairs, are naturally more solid and sturdy than the sleek, athletic cats people often picture.
Still, it’s not every day that a cat manages to look like he could bench press the dog.

Famous 'Surfing Dog' Rides Her Very Last Wave and Everyone Is in Tears
One very talented dog is hanging up her surfboard after a very successful career in the waves.
Sugar, the famous surfing dog (who has proved herself time and time again in world championships) is now 16 years old and was recently diagnosed with cancer. This means that the part of her life that revolved around surfing is now behind her, so when she went out on the waves one last time before she officially retired, an entire community came together to celebrate her.
@abc7laSugar the Surfing Dog rode her last wave over the weekend in Huntington Beacg as the beloved SoCal pup continues battling cancer.
♬ original sound - ABC7LA - ABC7LAIn this news report that an ABC affiliate in LA shared on TikTok, we get to see footage of Sugar surfing for the last time with her dad in Huntington Beach.
She looks just as at home on that surfboard as she always has, and her career has included a lot of major milestones, including becoming the first animal ever to join the Surfer's Hall of Fame.
"I feel like she's created this ripple effect throughout the community and throughout the world that's just unexplainable," her dad told the news cameras.
It certainly seems that way, judging by the number of the people on the beach who had gathered to watch her in the waves. Anyone else crying, or is it just me?
More About Sugar and Her Surfing CareerAfter 16 years of life, it's safe to say that Sugar is kind of a big deal — not just when it comes to surfing, but about the legacy she's leaving behind with all of the people who have loved her and who have cheered her on over the years.
According to what her human wrote on her Instagram account (where she's amassed over 30,000 followers and counting) Sugar is a five time world surf dog champ, which is certainly impressive!
The community has also come together to support her since her cancer diagnosis in ways that had nothing to do with her riding her last wave. A GoFundMe in her honor has already nearly reached its goal of $13,000 to help her family take care of her medical expenses.
Sugar is one talented (and very loved) dog. It's no wonder so many people have continued to cheer her on, even if she's now officially retired from surfing.

According to the product description, the balls are designed to be durable enough for repeated play while still being light enough for dogs to carry comfortably in their mouths.
And if you have a smaller pup, there’s another option available. Dollar General also carries a mini version that includes three smaller balls for the same $1 price, making them a great fit for small breeds.
Because they’re so inexpensive, it might be worth picking up a few packs to stash in different places—one in the car for park trips, another in the backyard and maybe a set indoors for rainy-day games of fetch.
Why Fetch Is So Good for DogsA simple game of fetch might look like pure fun (and for dogs, it absolutely is), but it also serves an important purpose.
Regular play helps dogs burn off excess energy, maintain a healthy weight and stay mentally stimulated. Active games like fetch also strengthen the bond between dogs and their humans.
For dogs who love chasing a ball, fetch can become one of the easiest ways to incorporate exercise into their daily routine.
To make the game even more exciting (and easier for you), some pet parents use a ball launcher—often called a “chucker.” These tools allow you to throw the ball farther with less effort, which means your dog gets to enjoy longer sprints and more activity.
Whether it’s in the backyard, at the dog park or down a long hallway inside the house, a simple ball can turn an ordinary moment into a fun burst of exercise. And at just $1, this Dollar General find makes it easy to keep the games of fetch going.

Breaking Pit Bull StereotypesThe 40-second video, which has garnered over 11,000 upvotes in just ten days, is a perfect example of how pit bulls are often misunderstood. Frequently seen as one of the more dangerous or unpredictable breeds, pits are really teddy bears at heart despite the outlier scenarios we hear about. This clip, showing a clearly happy pup enjoying a good wrestle with his owner, is a reminder that with the right training and endless love, stereotypes can be broken one pup at a time.
More importantly, this video highlights the value of play, exercise and rewarding good behavior. As the duo roll around on the mat, the pit has plenty of opportunities to snap or act aggressively, but instead recognizes that it’s playtime and responds with joy and affection. You can see him taking cues from his owner, sometimes submitting and other times playfully taking the lead.
“Happiest pupper ever,” one viewer wrote in response to u/Odd_Aioli_7437’s video. “My dog loves to wrestle like this, guess I need to invest in a mat.”
Others chimed in, praising the pup for his “great transitions and flow” and noting the “harmony in motion” on display. “The foundation of trust right here,” one comment read, “they are matching energies and have practiced this a ton—they are so in sync.”
A couple of other viewers joked back and forth:
“You know they say the Brazilian Pitbull is the most dangerous dog breed there is.”
“Because of their bite?”
“No, their armbar.”
Another chimed in, “Their flying armbark is deadly.”

What Makes Pit Bulls Such Great CompanionsPit bulls have a reputation for being loving, loyal and undeniably gentle. Despite common myths, many are known for their strong bonds with their owners and incredible affection for family members. They thrive on interaction, which makes them playful partners for activities like wrestling, jogging or even a little at-home jiu jitsu.
Pits are also very smart and eager to please, which means they pick up training quickly and love to engage in games or rewarding activities. Their energy and enthusiasm make them a lot of fun, but it also means they do best with consistent guidance and plenty of attention. With that said, they’re true companions who enjoy being part of your daily life, whether it’s playtime, training or a good snuggle session on the couch.
Funny Munchkin Cat 'Announcing' Bedtime to the House Is Such a Boss Queen
As true creatures of habit, of course many cats get very serious about keeping to their routine. There is no time I get meowed at more than the time of day when my cats know it's time for dinner to be served — it's like clockwork that they both hunt me down in the kitchen, trying to hurry the process along.
And while food is no doubt an excellent motivator for pets everywhere, it's actually bedtime that the senior Munchkin cat in the video is taking extremely seriously.
@munchkinstevieNonna was telling the whole house it was time for bed... it was only 7pm but she wanted her night time snack! #talkingcat #seniorcat
♬ original sound - Stevie & NonnaOn Monday, March 9, this adorable kitty took it upon herself to walk around the house, meowing as loud as she could as her official announcement that bedtime was finally here. There's just one problem, though: Her timing may have been a bit off thanks to daylight savings time.
Well, that, and it sounds like she wanted the exciting thing that comes right before bedtime, too.
"Nonna was telling the whole house it was time for bed," her mom wrote in her caption on the video. "It was only 7 pm but she wanted her night time snack!"
Now, it's all starting to make more sense...
Munchkin Cats Don't Always Have This Much to SayThere are plenty of indicators that Nonna is a special cat, but those loud meows are another trait that we should add to the list.
As PetMD points out, Munchkins aren't known for being an especially vocal breed of cats, so the fact that this one likes using her voice makes her personality all the more unique.
Some people also believe that cats become more vocal in their golden years, and since Nonna is a senior kitty, it's totally possible that she's just becoming chatty in her old age. Nothing wrong with that, especially if she's using those powers to remind everyone that it's time for bed.
I just hope the humans in the house followed her orders. Nonna doesn't seem like one to mess around when it comes to bedtime!

♬ original sound - its.luna.tok Why Luna's Haircut Is SpecialThough Luna has a look all her own, her haircut happens to be one any pet parent can request by name: the Japanese Lamb cut. This grooming style gives pups that plushie, "lamb-like" look by trimming the torso short, rounding the muzzle and ears, and usually shaping the legs to look softer like tree trunks.
You may drop your dog off at the groomer for a makeover, but you'll pick up an adorably fluffy lamb. To me, that's a win/win in every scenario! This particular cut is usually seen on small, fluffy breeds like Shih-Tzus, Bichon Frises, Maltese, and of course, Poodles. This is because of their dense, curly hair that holds shape, but it does require upkeep to prevent matting.
Luna is the best "spokespupper" for the cut, giving us views of all angles. Next time your dog is due for a trim, please ask for this, and you'll be blessed with the same level of cuteness as Luna gives us all every day!

Extra Fluffy Calico Persian Cat Looks Like a 'Self-Propelled Cotton Ball'
Our pets often possess unique features that give them that "unique" look. Whether it's a massive muscular build, striking eyes, or a head-turning color pattern, our fur babies have features that definitely set them apart.
Carrot the Calico Persian cat is a great example, boasting a poofy coat that makes her look like a giant fluff ball rather than a feline.
@chopper__dailyShe’s so round
♬ original sound - Chopper & Carrot 🥕Carrot was like a one-woman party as she ran across the floor chasing her ball. While her fast-moving actions and focused determination were impressive, Carrot's coat was the attention-grabber.
Thick, plush, and colorful fur covered Carrot's body like a billowy cloud. The sheer poofiness of the layers of fur practically hid her shape, making her appear like a perfectly round sphere of fluff.
The patches of pumpkin orange, midnight black, and snowy white fur were like a vibrant mosaic that could make anyone stop and stare. Carrot darted around the room after her toy, resembling a fast-moving floof mound rather than a cat.
Followers were smitten with Carrot and noted her showstopping appearance.
"Winter floof is my favorite," someone raved.
"Are you aware that you possess a self-propelled cotton ball?" a fan pointed out.
"She’s adorable. So full of energy," another remarked.
"I’d like to nominate her for the knights of the rotund table," a follower joked.
Persian Cats Come In Many ColorsThe stereotype of Persian cats usually includes long, feathery white fur and bright blue eyes. Yet these pretty kitties sport coats of many colors and varieties. In addition to white or silver, Persians can have orange, black, gray, tri-colored, or Calico coats, like Carrot.
Their double-layered coats mean they frequently shed and require regular brushing. Be sure to have a lint roller and vacuum on hand with these felines.

Persians are often thought of as divas, but they are actually very personable and prefer cuddling over playing. If raised as an indoor cat, a Persian can live to approximately 12 to 17 years old.
Carrot adorably demonstrates the charm — and fluffiness — of this beautiful breed.

Pit Bull Carefully Carries Tiny Kitten to Her Human Mom
Dogs and kittens forming unlikely friendships is one of the internet’s favorite genres, but every once in a while, a video comes along that feels almost too sweet to be real.
In this case, a gentle Pit Bull named Kimmy has been trained to do something surprisingly adorable: find a tiny kitten and carefully bring her back to mom. She's basically the best kitten nanny ever.
@maddie22344A little back story: This little kitten came into our family at probably 2 weeks old. We bottle fed her every 3 hours. Kept her warm and her and Kimmy bonded immediately! We don’t deserve dogs 🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽 #dogsoftiktok #dog #catsoftiktok #cat #cute #animallover #funny #fyp

In the video, Kimmy runs around the living room while her human mom calls out, “Go get the baby! Where’s the baby? Bring her to Mama.”
The Pit Bull begins searching around the room until she spots the tiny Black Kitten. Then comes the moment that has everyone melting.
Kimmy carefully leans down, gently picks up the kitten in her mouth, and trots over to deliver the little passenger straight to Mom.
It’s incredibly delicate work for such a strong dog, and viewers immediately noticed how careful Kimmy was trying to be.
“The way she is trying to find the gentlest and softest way to pick the kitten up,” one commenter wrote.
Another joked about Kimmy’s slightly conflicted feelings about the situation.
“The dog was confused because she thought she was the baby.”
A veterinarian chimed in with a hilarious warning: “As a vet, I wouldn’t recommend this. The kitten may get hurt feelings when the dog doesn’t provide personal transportation for the rest of her life.”
Others couldn’t get over Kimmy’s expression.
“Those are the biggest, ‘but I’m the baby,’ eyes that I have ever seen,” one person said.
Another viewer pointed out something dog lovers instantly recognize.
“Such a nice, gentle mouth. You couldn’t ask for a better dog for kitten retrieval.”
Why Your Dog Needs Their Own Kitten A Terrier dog playing with a kitten.Image Via: PAYM photography/Shutterstock
As a pet mom of a dog and three cats, I love nothing more than watching our cats play with the dog or cuddle the dog. Dogs are naturally social animals, and many of them develop nurturing instincts toward smaller pets in the household. When introduced carefully, dogs can become protective companions, playful siblings, or even unofficial babysitters.
Early positive experiences between dogs and kittens help build trust and teach both animals how to communicate with each other safely.
Of course, every introduction should be supervised and done slowly to make sure both animals feel comfortable.
But when the personalities line up just right, the result can be something pretty special.
In Kimmy’s case, it looks like she didn’t just gain a kitten roommate.
She gained a very tiny best friend who occasionally requires gentle chauffeur service.

Pet ownership in the modern era has evolved far beyond the traditional dynamic of a working animal and its keeper. Today, our four-legged friends are integral family members, sharing our living spaces, our routines, and even our emotional highs and lows. As we become more educated on canine physiology, it has become increasingly clear that the physical environment we provide for them directly impacts their long-term health. Just as humans prioritize ergonomic mattresses to prevent chronic back pain and ensure restorative sleep, the anatomical needs of a dog require specific attention to pressure points and spinal alignment.
Rest is the cornerstone of a healthy immune system and cognitive function in animals. Large breeds, in particular, are prone to musculoskeletal issues such as hip dysplasia and arthritis as they age. Providing a dedicated space that encourages deep, uninterrupted REM sleep isn't just a matter of luxury; it is a preventative health measure. When a dog has a consistent, supportive place to retreat, their cortisol levels drop, and their body can focus on cellular repair. This sense of "place" also provides a psychological anchor, reducing anxiety and offering a sanctuary during thunderstorms. Fireworks or busy household gatherings.

Walmart’s 82% Off Wireless Cleaner Easily Handles Pet Messes

My Jack Russell, Winnie, has a little perch in my bedroom closet where she’s set up spare blankets and pillows.
Seeing as my closet has the lights off most of the time, I only finally noticed today that her mini-fort/bed needs cleaning, and I’m not just talking about a trip to the washing machine.
Winnie doesn’t shed much, but she is the kind of dog that likes ripping into toys and anything with stuffing inside. That sounds like a job for a cordless vacuum.
Luckily for pet parents like me, Walmart is selling the Qunler handheld vacuum cleaner for only $32, and calling it a sale is being generous. It's a whopping 82% off its original retail price of $180! That might be one of the best deals you see all year.
The Purrfict Addition for Pet ParentsGet it? This cordless vacuum is equipped with a 100W motor and three rechargeable batteries. In other words, this thing will pack a punch.
I also love the idea of a vacuum with an LED light. If your dog is the type to hide under the bed, this will be a perfect way to clean the floor.
Qunler Handheld Cordless Vacuum, ($32, Was $180) on WalmartCourtesy of Walmart
Check Out the ReviewsBased on the 600-plus customers who have left a review on Walmart’s website, this cordless vacuum has an average rating of 3.9 stars out of 5.0. Shoppers frequently highlight the vacuum’s efficiency in tight spots — a major win for anyone cleaning up after a messy pet.
So what do other buyers think?
- “Small enough to keep it inside my car. It charges fast, motor is powerful and can pick almost everything including what could end up under the seats.”
- “Sucks up the mess very well and isn’t too loud!”
- “I LOVE THIS THING. I should buy another in the event it sells out.”
The common complaint is that the vacuum cleaner isn’t perfect for larger spaces, though the obvious question becomes what exactly you’re cleaning. If you’re a dog dad with a small friend at your side, you don’t always need a massive vacuum to clean up after them.
The Bottom Line: A review saying “I LOVE THIS THING” in all caps should always grab your attention, and not solely because of caps lock. That’s not even considering the fact that the vacuum is 82% off. At that deal, it’s absolutely worth looking into if you don't already own one, especially if you have multiple pets in your household.

Consider this his audition for the next blockbuster movie, Broadway production, or even a set at your local comedy club!

Parrots like Cruz excel at mimicry, language, and context, as well as object recognition, counting, and so much more (fart sounds, anyone?!). Great Dane–Cane Corso Mix Tastes the Steam From Dinner and Clearly Approves
If you've ever walked past a restaurant or bakery with delicious smells drifting out the door, you can probably imagine how intense those aromas must be for our dogs.
For Loki, a Great Dane–Cane Corso mix, that powerful nose and towering height give him the perfect vantage point to take in the scent of dinner cooking on the stove. He minds his manners and keeps a respectful distance, but as the steam rises from the pan, so does his nose. Before long, his tongue follows along too, trying to sample every bit of flavor floating through the air.
It's a wholesome dog moment that's sure to leave you smiling.

Dogs Do Have Taste Buds, But Smell Plays a Much Bigger RoleDogs experience flavor very differently from humans. According to PetMD, dogs do have taste buds, but far fewer than people. While humans have roughly 9,000 taste buds, dogs have only about 1,700.
Instead, much of what dogs interpret as flavor actually comes from their powerful sense of smell. The scent of food plays a much larger role in how dogs experience taste, which is why aromas rising from a warm pan can be so intriguing.

That’s likely why Loki seems so fascinated by the steam rising from dinner on the stove. Those warm vapors carry scent molecules that give him plenty of clues about what’s cooking, even before he gets a bite.
But this good boy isn't just interested in food. In another recent clip, his squeals of excitement when mom returns home after an hour showcase his charming personality even more.

Orange Maine Coon Welcomes One Single Kitten and Her Reaction Says Everything
Anyone who has ever watched a first-time cat mom meet her newborn kittens knows the moment can be a little… confusing. Sometimes the cat instantly goes into nurturing mode. And sometimes there’s a short pause where the cat seems to be thinking, “Excuse me, what exactly just happened here?”
An orange Maine Coon mom recently had that exact reaction after welcoming just one tiny kitten.

The mother cat stares at the kitten with a look that seems equal parts confusion and disbelief. At one point, she even gently paws at the tiny baby as if she’s trying to figure out where it came from.
The clip becomes even funnier thanks to the soundbite playing over the video.
“Oh my God, what is THAT? Oh my God, what is that?”
Viewers in the comments had a lot of thoughts about the new mom’s reaction.
“She said, ‘Someone wash the birth off,’” one person joked.
Another commenter imagined what the cat might be thinking. “She’s like, ‘Um… eww.’”
Someone else wrote, “‘There’s no way that came out of me, right?’”
One viewer shared their own similar experience with a first-time kitty mom. “My cat is also a first-time mama to one kitten, and she knows nothing about mothering. It’s safe to say I’m the mom and the grandma.”
Another commenter summed up the confusion perfectly. “She said, ‘Who is this and why is it here?’”
Eventually, though, most mother cats quickly adjust to the situation and settle into their new role.
How Many Kittens Do Cats Usually Have? @wildmane_mainecoonsI feel like their names suit them so well! #mainecoon #kitten #cutekitten #kittenlovers #kittensoftiktok
♬ Animal baby - 上野燿The average litter size for cats is typically between three and six kittens, although it can vary depending on the breed and the age of the mother cat. Some litters may only have one kitten, while others can have six or more.
Maine Coon cats, being a large breed, sometimes have larger litters, which makes this single tiny kitten especially funny to see next to such a big mom.
Ethical cat breeders approach breeding very differently from accidental litters. Responsible breeders carefully plan when their cats have kittens and make sure the mothers are healthy, well cared for, and not overbred. Their goal is to maintain and protect the breed while prioritizing the cat’s well-being.
For most household cats, however, veterinarians strongly recommend spaying and neutering.
According to the Pet Refuge Animal Birth Control Clinic, “In just one year, an unspayed cat who is allowed to roam outdoors can have three litters resulting in 12 kittens.”
And the numbers increase super fast from there.
If those 12 kittens remain unspayed or unneutered, they can produce up to 144 additional kittens within a year. 144!
Which is why, confused first-time Maine Coon mom reactions aside, responsible pet population control is incredibly important.

20-Year-Old Cat Complaining Over Mom Going to Work Drives a Hard Bargain
We've all been there. Puff expressed her feelings and added some sad looks to get her point across. "You don't want me to go to work today?" her mom questioned, as she called her to come by her side.
The frustrated feline sauntered over to her mom and seemed to soften when she gave her some much-needed pets. Soon, Puff was purring and momentarily appeased, though still not happy about the situation.
Followers sided with Puff and felt her mom should stay home indefinitely.
"I would immediately put in my 2-hour notice at work," one remarked.
"Hear me out — I think you need to call out sick," another suggested.
"Get a work-from-home job asap!!" a follower demanded.

Cats Get More Clingy With AgeWhile cats are known for being highly independent, pet parents often notice their feline fur baby needing more attention and snuggle time as they get older. 7 Ways Your Dog Uses Their Ears to Talk to You, Says Trainer
Wouldn't it be fun if your dog could communicate with you using words? As a pet parent, it would be great to know what your dog was thinking so you can ensure they're happy and emotionally healthy. However, because dogs speak through body language, it can be tricky to decode what they are trying to say, or for people to even notice the signs that a dog is telling you something in the first place. One subtle way dog communicte that owners often miss is when dogs express their emotions with their ears. To help you understand your dog's ear positions better and what they mean, we rounded up 7 ways your dog talks with their ears, according to a trainer.
It turns out, dogs tell people a lot through ear signals so they don't need to bark, howl or whimper to get a point across. "Ears are an important part of our dog's emotional picture and can provide a really important context for other body language signals, such as a wagging tail," says Annie-Mae Levy, CFBA, a professional dog trainer at Woofz. "Ears are actually usually the first part of the dog's body to respond, so they can give people an even earlier warning if pet owners know what to look for."
As the humans in the room, we can also respond to a dog's behavioral cues to help them feel safe if they are stressed or we can bask in their happiness with them. To do so, you need to know the ways your dog talks to you with their ears. Luckily, Levy can help you tune into that. Keep reading to learn more about dog ear language. Once you do, you'll no longer be wondering, "What do dog ear positions mean?" Instead, you'll be able to decode them yourself!

7 Ways Your Dog Uses Their Ears to Talk to You, According to a Trainer A dog speaking with its ears. How do dogs communicate with humans? One way is with their ears! That's why understanding dog body language is crucial to meeting their needs. There are many ways your dog uses their ears to talk to you, but Levy reveals seven of the most common ones, below.
1. Pinned back earsWhy do dogs put their ears back? If you've seen your dog's ears pinned back, that's common dog body language that every dog does from time-to-time. Levy explains that you'll know your dog's ears are pinned back if they look almost flat against their head, as if pressed down as far as possible. If you aren't sure what this dog ear position means, it's not something you want to see. "This is a big sign that the dog is uncomfortable and quite stressed," Levy warns. "This can be due to both fear and appeasement and is often accompanied by lower tail carriage and wide eyes."
2. Airplane earsNo, your furry companion isn't telling you they want to go jet-setting. Instead, this dog ear position means your pup is expressing their emotions about something. This is one of the many ways your dog uses their ears to talk to you about their feelings. "When a dog is unsure or feels conflicted about something, the ears may appear wide, pulled quite far to each side," Levy explains. "This is a dog that’s considering its next move and is deciding whether to move forward or back off."
3. Pricked forwardLevy shares that pricked-forward ears are forward-facing and often tilt a smidge down. If you notice your pet doing this, it's another dog ear language you need to be able to decode. What's this dog ear position's mean? "This is a sign of curiosity and attention," Levy shares. "A dog doing this is focused and anticipating something might be about to happen." For instance, if you walk in the direction of their treat bag and so much as touch it, your dog may prick their ears forward with all of the hope in the world.
Related: 7 Ways Dogs Say “I’ve Got You” Without Words, Experts Say
4. Asymmetrical tiltHow to read dog ear body language can come down to guessing sometimes. If you guessed that this ear position means your dog is confused or intrigued, you were right! This is one way how dogs show emotions with their ears since they can't speak. "Two ears facing different ways can in some dogs be a sign of them trying to understand something, usually a different sound than they are used to," Levy says. So, your dog may use the asymmetrical tilt if you bring a newborn home or start listening to some new tunes from a totally different genre than your usual jams.
5. The flickerDog ear signals and meanings can be confusing to read if you're unfamiliar with them. Of all of the ways your dog uses their ears to talk to you, this one is the subtlest. Blink, and you'll miss the flicker. "Lots of ear flicks can indicate just something annoying touching the dog, such as flies landing around the face," Levy says. "Ear flicks can also occur when lots of different noises are quickly being processed. Emotional state is usually not really a factor here."
6. Neutral, relaxed earsIf you have two dogs, they may have completely different "relaxed" ear positions. "Neutral ear position annoyingly looks different for different breeds of dog, as some stick straight up, others fold, and there is a ton of variation between these," Levy states.
You can notice the telltale sign that your dog is in neutral gear by tuning in to your pet during low-key moments. "Whatever your dog's ’normal’ is when they are relaxed, is what we would refer to as neutral, and this indicates calm feelings and a lower arousal state," Levy says.
7. Tension creep earsThe "tension creep ears" may concern you. Levy explains that this ear signal occurs when a dog's ear slowly moves from a relaxed position to a forward-alert position. So, what are your dog’s ears are telling you when they are in this position? Levy reveals that it's an indication, and the dog may be about to react. "This is a common occurrence in breeds that guard and can indicate an arousal increase," Levy says.
