This Goose Ignores 80 MPH Winds Like a Tiny Storm Chaser
The chickens had a plan.
A smart one.
A weather-appropriate one.
They were tucked safely inside the coop, hiding from the pounding rain like sensible little citizens who understood that sometimes the best response to chaos is simply staying dry.
And then there was the goose.
@jaclyn_baker80 mph winds never stop this goose! Lefty loves storms 😂 #spring #springstorms #storm #farm
♬ original sound - MikeIn the video, the camera starts on the chicken coop, where the chickens are doing exactly what you would expect during an absolute downpour. Then it pans to the right, and there he is, just standing out in the rain like he personally asked for this weather event. Not hurrying. Not sheltering. Not reconsidering his choices. Just planted there in the storm with the kind of confidence usually reserved for people who own all-terrain jackets and call bad weather “refreshing.”
It's already hilarious before the sound kicks in.
But then the clip uses audio from Forrest Gump, the part where Lieutenant Dan is out there battling the storm, and suddenly the whole thing becomes art. Real cinema. The contrast is so ridiculous and so perfect that it takes the video from funny to unforgettable. One comment says, “🤣🤣🤣🤣 Love the sound choice 👌” and honestly, yes. Exactly. Whoever paired that soundtrack with this goose understood the assignment on a spiritual level.
That's what makes the whole thing work so well. The chickens are hiding like normal creatures with instincts. The goose, meanwhile, looks like he's entered his final form. He's not bothered by the rain. He's not enduring the storm. He's thriving in it. If anything, he seems mildly disappointed that it's not raining harder.
And that's why geese are so funny. They carry themselves with this weird, fearless certainty, no matter how absurd the situation is. A storm strong enough to send everyone else running for cover just becomes a dramatic backdrop for this one bird to live his truth.
I love animal videos like this because they remind you how wildly different personalities can be, even in the same yard. One species says absolutely not. Another says this is my moment. And honestly, the goose kind of wins just by sheer commitment.
The shot, the timing, the soundtrack, the refusal to seek shelter—it all comes together in the dumbest, funniest, most glorious way.
This isn't just a goose in bad weather.
This is a goose in a character arc.
Animals React to Weather in Their Own, Very Specific WaysAs funny as this is, it's also a good reminder that different animals handle weather differently, and not always as humans expect. Some will seek shelter right away, while others seem determined to stand out in the drama for reasons no one can fully explain. The Humane World for Animals offers animal care resources that are a good reminder that safe shelter, dry space, and close monitoring matter during severe weather, even when an animal seems personally committed to making things theatrical.
Honestly, this goose looked like he had been waiting all year for his big weather monologue.

Maine Coon Mom Offers Kittens a Straw—and There's an Adorable Reason Behind It
When you become a mom, everything takes on a different meaning—even for cats. What was once a fun frolic through the house with cat siblings has now transformed into using that time to care for kittens. One Maine Coon mom found a workaround and decided to give her little kitty crew the cutest lesson in fun.
@maine.coon.mayhemher kittens can’t even walk yet but she thinks they’d like to play with her favorite toys. straws! #mainecoon #kitten #cat #catsoftiktok #mainecoonkitten
♬ Beauty And A Beat - Justin BieberThe new mom offering the Maine Coon kittens a straw is beyond heartwarming, because she's doing it to share in her favorite hobby: playing with straws! The itty-bitty kitty crew is obviously too young to understand what she's doing or why, but the gesture shows what a loving parent she is already—willing to sacrifice her favorite toy if it means making them happy (aww)!
As Maine Coons go, this is an accurate visual that speaks to their nurturing, fun, and affectionate temperaments, but also to how young at heart they remain well into adulthood. Sharing a thrilling hobby with her babies is one way to strengthen the bond, and it teaches them that she'll always provide.
Related: Charcoal-Colored Maine Coon's Colossal 'Hulk Hands' Look Like Giant Rocks
The kittens are only a couple of weeks old, which means they're only recently opening their eyes and starting to navigate more of the house (under strict supervision, of course). When they're this small, everything they do is cute, including all the screaming, shouting, and rioting about being held.
Some of them already have some pretty cool colors going on, too. Take a closer look!
@maine.coon.mayhemwe have eyeballs! #mainecoon #kitten #cat #catsoftiktok #mainecoonkitten
♬ original sound - Maine Coon Mayhem Why Mother Cats Bring ToysWhether the mama cat with kittens wanted to show the babies her favorite toy in hopes they'd engage in play or not, there's actually an instinctual reason cats bring anyone gifts.
Hannah Hart, DVM, tells PetMD that showing kittens the straw may have been the mom's attempt to teach them how to hunt. By bringing the straw to a safe location with her brood, she also may have wanted to keep it away from "predators," even if there really aren't any in the house.
These maternal, instinctual behaviors help build social bonds while showing the littles the ways of the world so they'll be prepared for what's ahead. They may not get it now, but one day, they'll be grateful for all of Mom's life lessons (and it's just plain cute)!

This Golden Retriever’s Reaction to 'Homeward Bound' Is Bringing People To Tears
I didn't even last 2 seconds.
That is how fast this clip got me.
Before anything major even happens, before the full emotional impact of the scene really lands, just seeing a Golden Retriever watching Homeward Bound is already enough to start the waterworks. And honestly, if you grew up with that movie, you already know why. This is not just any pet film. This is emotional devastation dressed up as family entertainment, and apparently, we're all still dealing with it decades later.
@pickles_the_golden_Ignore my gasps. This movie still makes me tear up till this day🥹🥹🥹 #homewardbound #disney #fyp #dogsoftiktok #petlovers
♬ original sound - pickles_the_golden_In the video, Pickles, the Golden Retriever, is watching the moment from Homeward Bound when Shadow finally makes it home. You know the one. The hill. The limp. The pause where your soul leaves your body for a second. Absolute cinematic history, if you ask me. And yes, I'm crying again just typing about it.
What makes this extra unfair is that Pickles actually looks like Shadow.
You're not just watching one Golden Retriever react to one of the most emotionally destructive dog movie scenes ever made. You're watching what feels like Shadow watching Shadow, which is frankly too much for any stable person to handle on a regular day.
The caption says, “Ignore my gasps. This movie still makes me tear up till this day🥹🥹🥹.” Same. Deeply same. I loved this movie as a kid, and it still absolutely destroys me now. I'm 43 and can confirm that this film has lost none of its power. If anything, it hits harder when you're older and have loved more animals.
The people in the comments completely get it, too. One person wrote, “The waterworks started at the part the boy said, ‘He’s not coming, he’s too old,’ baby, when he hobbles up that hill… wrecked!” Correct. Completely wrecked. Another said, “I’m almost 40, and this scene still makes me tear up!” Again, yes. This is one of those rare movie moments that seems to be permanently wired into people’s nervous systems.
And then there is Pickles, just sitting there being perfect, making the whole thing somehow even sweeter. Her reaction turns an already-emotional scene into something even softer, because now it feels like two worlds are meeting. The dog on the screen. The dog on the couch. All of us in tears.
What a sweet moment.
What an impossible setup.
And what a perfect name, by the way. Pickles. I mean, come on.
Dogs Pick up More Than We ThinkPart of why this clip hits so hard is that dogs are often incredibly tuned in to our voices, tone, and emotional energy. Pickles may or may not fully understand Homeward Bound, but she is clearly part of the moment, and that's a beautiful reminder that our pets often experience things with us in their own way. Rover has a helpful piece on how dogs bond with people, and it's a good reminder that shared routines, closeness, and emotional cues matter more than we realize.
If Pickles starts reacting to Old Yeller, too, I'm going to need professional supervision.

Cockatoo's Crack of Dawn Routine Garners Him 'Feathery Hurricane' Title
There are a lot of comparisons between kids and certain pets, and it makes sense. Human children need solid routines, regular schedules, rules, and dedicated bonding time with Mom and/or Dad, and it's the same thing with high-maintenance dogs, cats, and even birds. Charlie Jr. is a Cockatoo on the surface, but this Cockatoo's wake-up routine is all toddler energy!

Age is nothing but a number when it comes to Charlie. He may be 26, but his heart is all excited kid if it involves Dad. Sometimes he'll cave and give Mom some love, but it's rare.
Of all the reasons Charlie has become a viral Cockatoo many times over, it still always comes back to his favorite person and the time they spend together.

♬ Param-Pam-Pam - Carlos Campos The Importance of Routines for CockatoosBirds as intelligent as Charlie really are compared to human toddlers, and it's because they're as smart as 3- to 4-year-olds in terms of cognitive ability, comprehension, and complex problem-solving skills. It's pretty amazing what all the things they're capable of understanding.
With that, they should be treated with the same level of care, including having a routine to keep them on track. Consistent morning routines help reduce anxiety, make them feel safe, loved, and secure, and keep behavior in check. Just like toddlers, Cockatoos need structure, and it begins with the morning schedule, setting the tone for the day.
So, while Charlie's mom and dad wish they could sleep late and take a more casual approach to the day, it's not happening on Charlie's watch. His house, his rules!

Dog Dad’s Clever Pool Noodle Hack Helps His Disabled Shepherds Enjoy Summer Swims
If you've ever loved a dog through mobility loss, you know how hard it is to watch them miss out on the things they once loved. I've been there with large dogs later in life, and it never gets easier.
And when it's an activity like swimming, something they used to light up over, it hits even harder.
But for these beautiful German Shepherds living with degenerative myelopathy, or DM, they’re not missing out.
Not even close.
Their dad found a simple way to help them stay in the water, and the result is something special to watch.
You can see it in this April 8 TikTok from @rahamx:
@rahamx ♬ original sound - RWEeditzUsing nothing more than a pool noodle, this dog dad gives his pups the extra support they need to stay afloat, letting them paddle, splash, and move in ways that still feel natural.
And the difference? You can see it immediately.
They're not struggling. They're not sitting it out. They're right there in the water, doing what they love.
For dogs dealing with mobility challenges, that kind of support can make a huge difference. And just as it does for us, the weightlessness in the water likely brings them some relief while still allowing them to move and stay active.
Degenerative Myelopathy in Dogs Causes Progressive Loss of MobilityDegenerative myelopathy, often shortened to DM, is a progressive neurological condition that affects a dog's spinal cord. According to Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, it gradually impairs coordination and mobility, especially in the hind legs. Other conditions, like IVDD, can cause similar challenges, which is why low-impact movement like swimming is often recommended when possible.
And that's exactly what makes this so special.
These dogs aren't being defined by what they've lost. They're still in the water, still moving, still getting to enjoy something that clearly means everything to them.

Another added, "Thank you for sharing! We'll be doing this."
And someone else said it best: "Still living their best lives."
They’re just as happy out of the water, too. You can see it in this April 17 video, where the pair rolls up for a well-earned pup cup at a café:

Rescue Pit Bull Lived on a Chain — Now He's Living His Best Life
Niall Harbison saves countless street dogs through his Thailand rescue organization, Happy Doggo, and works tirelessly to heal and rehabilitate these abused and abandoned canines. Many of them come from horrific living conditions and deal with medical and behavioral challenges, yet these dogs transform under the care of Harbison and his team.
Buster the Pit Bull is just one of Harbison's many rescue success stories. The precious pooch was held captive on a short chain for most of his life until Harbison came along and helped him flourish.
View this post on InstagramThe Instagram video from @wearehappydoggo shared Buster's story.
"They called him 'vicious' and left him on a chain," the onscreen text read as Buster stood on a cement floor surrounded by debris and chained to a wall. "He spent his life tied up, feared by everyone. But we saw something different."
Harbison immediately bonded with Buster and saw the fur baby's sweet and loving spirit. The pretty Pittie showed his gentle and kind demeanor as soon as he came to Happy Doggo.
"When he arrived at the rescue, we saw the truth immediately," the caption explained. "There wasn’t a mean bone in his body — just a dog who had never been given a chance to be one."
Buster Found His PersonAfter spending some time with Harbison and his Happy Doggo team, Buster was ready for a forever home and adopted by a woman named Kitty. The two have been inseparable ever since.
The Instagram video shared clips of the two snuggling and Buster covering Kitty with kisses. The canine cutie's mom is committed to giving him a life of love and joy.
"Now he's living a life he always deserved," the story continued as Buster enjoyed a fancy beverage, ran in the grass, and nibbled on a yummy dairy dessert. The friendly fur baby traded that restrictive chain for "car rides, beach days, and ice cream" thanks to his devoted mom.
The post included other highlights of Buster lying on his back for a belly rub and cuddling with a stuffed animal. "There's nothing to fear from this gentle giant," the story concluded as Buster peacefully slept, safe and happy in his forever home.

Massive Whale Shark Creeps Up Behind a Swimmer and It's Intense
I am scared of the ocean. Bodies of water in general aren't for me, but I love marine life. I love to admire them from afar, on video, or in aquariums. You just never know what's going to happen to you in the ocean!
Like, what if a whale shark creeps up on you while you're swimming? That's exactly what happened to one swimmer recently, and even though it was definitely a little scary, it was also pretty awesome:
@foxnewsA woman in the Philippines got an unexpected surprise when a massive whale shark approached unnoticed and nudged her arm while she posed for underwater photos.
♬ original sound - Fox NewsFox News shared this clip of a woman in the Philippines. She didn't see the whale shark when she started swimming, which is a feat: these creatures are absolutely massive!
Related: ‘Basking Shark’ Spotted off the Coast of San Diego Looks Like It Belongs in a Museum
She was minding her business, posing for a photo underwater, when the whale shark swam up on her like it was no big deal. It even nudged her arm, which is the coolest part: I wish I knew what a whale shark feels like!
After it nudged her, it went back to doing its own thing, swimming away like it didn't just give her the biggest fright of her life! It didn't even seem to mind bumping into her; I wonder if this happens a lot. It seems like a pretty touristy area.
Are Whale Sharks Dangerous? What to Know About These Gentle GiantsThis is really cool, but it's also really dangerous. Ultimately, she's lucky she wasn't hurt! It wouldn't have been her fault; she didn't provoke the whale shark in any way, but things still could have ended badly.
Whale shark swimming and feeding.Image via Shutterstock / Shane Myers Photography
Whale sharks are not dangerous or aggressive toward humans under normal circumstances. If you provoke them or try to mess with their calves, they will get defensive, but it's highly unlikely that a whale shark would go after you otherwise. However, that doesn't mean they're not dangerous. You could get hurt if:
- It hits you with its tail.
- It pushes you too hard.
- It breaches the surface, creating dangerous waves.
Though whale sharks are gentle giants, it's best to avoid getting too close if you see them in the water. They don't know their own strength, and you just never know what might happen. Thank goodness all this whale shark wanted was a photo bomb!

This Grieving Horse Lost Her Baby -- Then Something Incredible Happened
On April 17, Camy, a thoroughbred maiden mare, gave birth to her first filly. The foal was absolutely perfect in every way except one—she was born sleeping.
For any mare, especially a first-time mother, the loss is completely devastating. But less than 48 hours later, Camy got a second chance at motherhood.
The endearing TikTok from @whoopsanothervetbill explains the situation: "The vet gave us the clear to offer her as a nurse mare; less than 48 hours later, we received a message of a local colt (owned by a complete stranger) who had lost his mom due to a birthing complication."
That colt was Arlo, a standardbred whose mother died during his birth. His humans rushed to get him to Camy as quickly as possible. And when the two met? Camy was immediately smitten with the foal.
@whoopsanothervetbillOn April 17, our wonderful maiden mare, Camy, delivered the most perfect filly; sadly she was born sleeping. The vet gave us the clear to offer her as a nurse mare; less than 48 hours later, we received a message of a local colt (owned by a complete stranger) who had lost his mom due to a birthing complication. They rushed out, grabbed Camy, and she was immediately smitten with baby Arlo. They are learning this together, and I am so blessed that she gets this opportunity to heal. The text overlay reads: "First time mom loses her foal, then adopts orphaned foal."
Two completely devastating losses, share one healing bond.
The caption continues: "They are learning this together, and I am so blessed that she gets this opportunity to heal. It's been a devastating time for everyone, but this absolutely helps mend our broken hearts. This mare is so, so special."

The comment section captured the emotional complexity of the situation perfectly:
"How precious, heartbreaking about the foal and the other mom, my goodness. I want to see more of these 2 and their journey!"
"This is devastating and beautiful."
That last comment sums it up. Because it is both of those things at once.
How Animals Heal After LossResearch in evolutionary biology, cognitive biology, and social neuroscience supports what anyone who's ever loved an animal already knows: animals make rich, deep emotional connections. They experience many of the same emotions we do; fear, anger, excitement—and grief.
According to Colorado State University's Veterinary Health Network, animals display grief just like humans. Their eating habits may change—loss of appetite or waiting for the deceased animal at meal times. Sleeping patterns may shift—they may sleep in unfamiliar places or where the deceased used to rest. Bonding behaviors change too—some animals become clingy, others isolate, some show searching behavior.
Wild animals express grief by vocalizing, wandering aimlessly, and eventually reorganizing their pack structure. It’s very primal. There is no nonchalant way to experience grief. Domestic animals go through very similar processes.

For Camy, becoming a nurse mare gave her something to look forward to and a purpose to survive her grief: a baby to care for. A reason to keep her milk flowing, her maternal instincts engaged, her heart healing.
For Arlo, Camy gave him what he needed the most to survive: a mother.
They're learning this together. And in the process, two broken hearts are mending—one orphaned colt and one grieving mare at a time.
Giant Maine Coon Caught Sucking on a Blanket and Making Biscuits Like a Total Loverboy
Some cats act tough until the second you’re not looking. Others just skip that part entirely and go straight to being a full-blown baby in a very large body.
Louie is the second kind.
@tiberiusandlouieMy big baby is making me some biscuits #cats #catsoftiktok #mainecoon #catmom #catlover
♬ Biscuits - Tea Leaf GreenThis TikTok moment was shared by @tiberiusandlouie. Their giant gray smoke Maine Coon settles onto the bed, grabs a blanket, and immediately gets to work making biscuits like he’s been emotionally preparing for this all day.
There’s no rush. No chaos. Just slow, deliberate kneading with the tiniest bit of blanket tucked into his mouth like this is part of the process, and he would appreciate if no one questioned it.
Related: Apricot and Gray Maine Coon Kittens Form the Sweetest Reverse-Colored Cuddle Puddle
The caption says, “My big baby is making me some biscuits,” and honestly, that sums it up perfectly.
Because yes, he is enormous. Yes, he looks like he could run a small forest if he wanted to. And yet, here he is, gently kneading a blanket and sucking on it like he’s 5 minutes old and life is simple again.
It’s the contrast that really gets you.
One second, you’re looking at a massive Maine Coon with that slightly intimidating presence they all have, and the next, he’s just… this soft, affectionate, deeply committed little guy who needs his blanket and his moment.
And the way he takes his time with it makes it even better. Like this is not a quick activity. This is an experience.
People in the comments were immediately locked into this Maine Coon making biscuits.
“Aww, he’s taking his sweet time. Does he have part of the blanket in his mouth?” one person wrote.
And yes. Yes, he does.
I don’t know, there’s something about this kind of behavior that always feels a little extra sweet. My own Maine Coon, Meatball, doesn't always have lovey cat moments. He has a schedule, boundaries, and opinions. But when he is affectionate, it’s intense. It's like suddenly he needs to be directly on top of you, making biscuits like it’s his job, and you just have to accept your role in the situation.
Louie feels like that kind of kitty. Just… more consistent about it.
Why Cats Knead @denverveterinarianAsk a veterinarian: Why do cats make biscuits? #veterinarian #cats #catbiscuits #cutecats
♬ Color Sky - Monster RallyWhen cats knead, or “make biscuits,” it’s usually a sign that they feel safe, comfortable, and content.
The behavior starts in kittenhood, when they knead their mother to help stimulate milk flow. Some kitties carry that habit into adulthood, especially when they’re relaxed or feeling affectionate.
Cat sucking blanket behavior can also be tied to that same comforting instinct. It’s often seen in kitties who are especially attached to soft textures or who find the behavior soothing.
While it might look a little silly, it’s generally a sign that your cat feels secure and happy in their environment.
So when a giant Maine Coon like Louie settles in and starts making biscuits with a blanket in his mouth, it’s not just cute. It’s a full demonstration of trust.
And apparently… a very serious baking session.

♬ original sound - Daily MailOne fan, so impressed by their cross-species friendship, asks, "If they can get along, why can’t people get along like this?"
I suppose if humans were as painfully adorable as these two, peace on Earth would be easy. Until then, however, we can choose to live vicariously through George and Thumper and the unlikely bond they and other unexpected pairings share.

Why Are Interspecies Friendships So Appealing? There’s a psychological reason (or several, rather) why we can’t stop watching a lamb and a cat become best friends—it hits something deeper than just “cute.”
Animals are naturally wired to form strong social bonds with their own kind, and when we see that same affection—cuddling, playing, sticking close—happen across species, it feels both familiar and surprising. In a way, it mirrors how we connect with each other, which makes it instantly relatable.
But the real hook is the unexpected factor. Our brains are built to categorize the world (“this animal goes with that one”), so when a lamb and a cat completely ignore those rules, it creates a kind of pleasant surprise. That little mental flip—wait, aren’t they not supposed to be friends?—is part of what makes it so satisfying to watch.
There’s also something a bit aspirational about it. These unlikely friendships tap into a very human desire for harmony—different personalities, different instincts, all coexisting peacefully. It’s hard not to project that onto our own world.
It’s not just that George Coony and Thumper are adorable together (they are). It’s that their bond feels meaningful, unexpected, and oddly hopeful—all at once.

Mom Records the Exact Moment Her Golden Retriever Knew Something Was Wrong
She had just heard the words no one prepares for. The kind that stop everything else mid-thought. Before she could even process her cancer diagnosis, her golden retriever was already moving.
In a photo shared to Reddit's r/goldenretrievers, we see her dog, Goose, placing his paws gently on her and leaning in close. Not playful. Not excited. Just present.
It doesn’t look trained. It doesn’t look rehearsed. It looks instinctive.
Do Dogs Really Know When We’re Not OK?Research suggests dogs do recognize when we're not OK, and they do it in ways we’re still trying to fully understand.
A study published in the journal Learning & Behavior found that dogs are more likely to approach and comfort humans who are crying compared to those who are talking or humming. The response wasn’t based on training. It was tied to emotional cues.
Related: Tiny Golden Retriever Puppy Finds Sweetest Bed on Ride to Forever Home
Dogs also detect changes in scent. Illness can alter human body odor through chemical compounds released during stress or disease. Some trained dogs can even identify certain cancers through smell alone.
What you’re seeing in moments like this is a mix of both.
The Moment Every Dog Parent Has LivedYou’re sitting quietly, maybe not even crying, just feeling off.
And your dog shows up anyway.
They rest their head on your leg. They stay closer than usual. They watch you differently.
No commands. No reason you can point to.
Just something in them that knows.
One person commented on the post on Reddit and shared their own experience, writing, “They can definitely sense when something is up, either by some scent indicator or just behavior. When I was diagnosed I had a shar pei, and he wouldn't leave my side through treatment.”
Golden Retriever as Therapy DogsGolden retrievers are often used as therapy and assistance dogs for a reason. Generations of selective breeding favored calm temperaments and strong responsiveness to human emotion.
That doesn’t mean other breeds can’t do the same, but it means some dogs are wired to notice faster.
The Moment That Stays With You ForeverYou don’t forget moments like this. Not because of what your dog did, but because of when they did it.
Right when you needed it, before you even asked. As one commenter put it, “Looks like you are in good hands.”
That's the thing about dogs. They don't wait to be asked. They don't think about whether the moment is right or whether they have the words for it. They just show up. And sometimes, in the hardest moments of a person's life, that's the only thing that matters.

Rescue Dog Looks Unrecognizable After Grooming Makeover (Wait Until You See the ‘After’)
Some dogs aren't a fan of getting professionally groomed, yet the before-and-after results can turn your canine from unkempt to beautifully coiffed in just an hour.
Merlin the rescue Poodle mix had only been in his new home for a few months when he went in for his very first grooming appointment. The transformation is so dramatic, people are doing a double-take.
@catherrerahe looked like a completely different dog by the end 😳 #dog #doggrooming #rescuedog #cutedog #catthedoggroomer
♬ coffee date maliabeats - MaliaThe groomer assessed Merlin's coat in the TikTok from @catherrera and prepared to give him a full glam session. Merlin's parents booked an evening slot for his inaugural visit to the salon so he would have a calm and peaceful environment.
"He just got rescued a few months ago, so this is a very special grooming appointment," the onscreen text explained. "We are also doing this appointment at 7:30 at night, so we want to make sure his first grooming experience is a good one."
The hair stylist carried Merlin to the tub for his shampoo since the floors had just been waxed. The pretty pooch seemed relatively chill and trusting as the groomer gave him a good shampoo.
After his rinse, Merlin stood on the styling table as the groomer started shaving him down. She went with a "short fluff" look so his coat would stay healthy and manageable. His parents requested a hairdo that reflected his Poodle heritage, so the groomer shaved Merlin's muzzle down a bit.
The moment for the big reveal finally arrived. Merlin stood proudly after his beauty sesh, decked out with a navy blue bow. The fashionable fur baby looked like a completely different dog, with every shiny hair perfectly in place.
"That's a distinguished gentleman," the video concluded.
Why Does My Dog Get Nervous at the Groomer? Many dogs experience anxiety during a grooming appointment. Their nervousness may stem from previous negative experiences or being exposed to unfamiliar sights, sounds, and smells of the salon.
Gradual exposure to the grooming establishment can help your dog acclimate to the environment. Start with short sessions and slowly increase as they become more comfortable.

Mama Cat Eats Costco Rotisserie Chicken, Then Shows Up For More With Her Kittens
There are very few things that the majority of Americans agree on, but one of the biggest ones is Costco food. In general, it's a classic: big portions, small prices. However, there's one thing that seems to have a true cult following: the rotisserie chicken!
One stray cat recently got her first taste of this iconic treat, and she did what any reasonable kitty would: brought her babies back for more. Luckily for her, her new human friends were all too happy to help:
@msvanessaduranThe Costco Chicken 🙌🏻 #costcofinds #costcotiktok #catslovers #kittensoftiktok #cattok
♬ Cat at the Cafe - fazathecatVanessa Duran not only gave the stray cat some Costco rotisserie chicken, but she also got some sardines. Truly, she was living the dream for that meal! Like a good mother would, though, she knew she needed to bring her kittens back so they could get some.
She had two kittens with her, and Vanessa decided to take them all under her wing as a family. They've all been given names: Mama is Chicken, and her babies are Sardine and Churro. They're named after their favorite foods!

Mama and babies are not yet spayed or neutered, but that'll come soon. There are no plans to separate the family: they'll likely get to stay together, eating rotisserie chicken, forever. They've definitely got some lost time to make up for:

Can Cats Have Rotisserie Chicken? If you have a Costco membership and a pet... Odds are, they've had a little taste of Costco rotisserie chicken. My dogs definitely have, and I'm not ashamed to admit it.

Rotisserie chicken isn't dangerous for cats (or dogs), especially in small quantities. It is definitely very salty, and some parts of the chicken are fattier than others, but a little taste won't hurt. Try to give a cat:
- A piece that's only about as big as your thumbnail.
- White meat (breast meat).
- None of the bones, skin, or cartilage.
Costco rotisserie chicken is a beloved treat for all. What cat wouldn't want a little taste?! Thank goodness Costco sells these things in bulk!

Cat Mom’s Years-Long Quest To Win Feral Cat’s Heart Ends With the Sweetest Surprise
For animal lovers, spotting a homeless cat is heartbreaking. But when that cat is feral, too smart for traps and too scared to let anyone near, it can feel impossible to help. You can only set out food and hope that one day they’ll finally trust you.
That’s exactly what one dedicated cat mom did for two long years. Then one day, the elusive stray showed up with a tiny Tuxedo Kitten in tow.
What started as one meal quickly became a daily routine. The momma Tabby Cat and her son became regulars at the feeding spot. But they kept their distance. No touching. No closeness. Mom especially, just wasnt' ready yet.
This patient rescuer refused to give up. And after years of quiet consistency, she finally got the moment she’d been dreaming of.
Watch the heartwarming story in this TikTok from @violetmoonmade_:
@violetmoonmade_Patience & consistency is key. I finally domesticated the semi-feral mom cat I had been feeding for the last two years! She’s now living her best indoor life with me, her son, and my other cats 🖤 #catsoftiktok #hopecore #rescued #straycat #motherandson
♬ original sound - ♪˚✧₊⁎(( °ω° ))⁎⁺˳✧༚♪Things looked promising at first, but soon only the kitten was coming back. She earned his trust and brought him inside, all while hoping his mom, now named Pepper, would return.
About a month later, just as winter approached, she did.
So, this cat mom set up a heated shelter, gave her space, and slowly Pepper began to soften.
By December 2025, she was rubbing against her new mom's legs, a small but meaningful shift. Not long after, she was finally ready to come indoors.

Today, Pepper is safely inside, fully spayed, dewormed, and receiving all the love and veterinary care she deserves. Best of all, she’s reunited with her son and no longer has to worry about her next meal or a safe place to sleep.
The comments poured in from fellow animal lovers:
Viewer @Sarah wrote, “I love these stories. Thanks for your patience and for loving her enough to let her go at her own pace.”
Another added, “Congratulations. Most people don’t realize what it takes to get this done.”
And @Eirinismatic shared, “You just made me happy!”

Earning a Feral Cat’s Trust Takes Real Patience (But It’s Worth It)As PetMD explains, patience is everything when it comes to taming stray cats. Some warm up in weeks, but many, like Pepper, need months or even years to feel truly safe. The golden rules? Don’t corner them, don’t move too fast, and don’t do anything that could feel threatening.
Instead, do exactly what this rescuer did:
Offer consistent food and fresh water every day.
Keep a calm, predictable routine.
Let the cat set the pace.

It’s also wise to first check if the outdoor cat truly needs a home. Not every stray is homeless. Some are just friendly neighborhood cats making the rounds for extra snacks (I once tried to “rescue” an Orange Cat who was happily visiting half the street for treats and attention!).
While strays can take longer to open up, once they do, they become some of the most loyal, affectionate companions you’ll ever have. If you’re currently trying to earn a feral cat’s trust, hang in there. Your patience could be the difference between a lifetime on the streets and a forever home filled with love.
Woman Finds Bird Nest In Trash Can and Finds the Fuzziest Babies Inside
It's baby animal central out in the world right now. Spring has officially sprung, and that means eggs are hatching, mamas are giving birth, and as humans, it's important for us to be aware of our surroundings.
Just like this woman: she went out to a trash bin she had, and when she got there, she found a fuzzy baby bird surprise! Her discovery was so sweet, and those little babies are guaranteed to make everyone smile:
@fayeellen86No updates now moving forward as wouldn't want to disturb them! my aim once the fledglings start to venture out is to hopefully get them to feed from my hands! but for now I'll watch from afar and let mum do her thing 🫶🏼🫶🏼
♬ Wonderful World - Sam CookeFaye Ellen struck gold with this one: this video got hundreds of thousands of views. Everybody loves a sweet baby bird moment! The trash bin is full of branches and sticks: she's an avid gardener, and this is just something that comes with the territory.
Apparently, one mama bird decided that this was the perfect place for her eggs. Faye has been watching the nest for a little while, but she wasn't expecting to see baby birds so soon! But when she opened it up, there they were, expecting food!
Related: Rescue Cockatoo ‘Guards’ Little Brother From Mom Waking Him up Like a Literal Wingman
She could keep checking on them every day: people on TikTok would love it. Curiosity is a great way to get views! However, she's chosen to do the responsible thing: close the lid and stop disturbing the nest. She's not willing to risk stressing them out. Luckily, she's got a Frenchie at home who keeps her hands full:
@fayeellen86Anyone else's Frenchie an absolute bell end #frenchbulldog
♬ original sound - FayeellenThey're Robins. Her hope is that she'll be able to bond with them once they start venturing out of the nest on their own, but until then, she'll just send them her well-wishes and ignore them. It's for their own good!
What to Do If You Find a Bird's NestIt's that time of year: I've seen at least 4 nests around my house. There's one in one of the vents in my house! It's tempting to steal them all and become a Mega Bird Mom, but that wouldn't be good for anyone.
Mama bird feeding her chicks.Image via Shutterstock / Aleksandr LazarenkoMa
If you find a bird's nest with eggs or hatchlings inside, you should leave it alone. While touching it won't always cause their mother to abandon them, it can still:
- Alert predators to the presence of the nest.
- Stress everybody out.
- Potentially harm the babies if you damage the structure of the nest.
- Be against the law (some states forbid tampering with active nests!).
Most of the time, mama birds know what they're doing. They built their nest in the best possible way, and any "help" you're providing will most likely just make things worse. Unless it's in a really bad spot (like, in your house, for example), just let it be!

Ruth the Cow Has Adorable Reaction to Seeing Her Newborn Human Brother
Ruth wasn’t trying to charm all of social media. She just wanted to see her new human baby brother, but the sweet cow managed to win hearts without even trying, an emotional example of a lovely cow and baby bond.
Peering over the barn door where her baby human was nestled in his car seat waiting for mom to lift him out, Ruth took matters into her own hooves. She had waited patiently outside the barn, watching for the moment she could see the little baby. When mom didn’t move fast enough for Ruth’s liking, the cow came looking for her favorite tiny human. Animal lovers often celebrate the bond between dogs and humans, but Ruth is putting everyone on notice: cows have feelings too.
At first glance, @terryfarm8’s heartwarming animal video seems straightforward. Captioned, “I wasn’t getting him out of his car seat fast enough to see him,” the video shows an infant boy relaxing in his car seat on the family’s farm. The camera pans to a half barn door, revealing Ruth peeking over to catch a glimpse of the baby. Mom speaks gently to both Ruth and her child, while the baby squeals at the sound of Ruth’s name.

Ruth appears to be highly emotionally intelligent, but her behavior isn’t as unusual as it might seem. Cows are capable of forming deep emotional bonds with humans, especially when they are raised with care and kindness.
These intelligent, social animals can recognize faces and remember people long term. They also show affection in gentle ways, including licking, nuzzling, and staying close to those they trust.
While mom wisely keeps some distance between Ruth and the newborn, it’s clear the cow is completely smitten. The feeling seems mutual, and viewers can’t get enough of the heartwarming connection and this unexpected animal friendship.
Thanks for the feel good animal story, Ruth. You made our day.

7 Cat Breeds That Love Playing Fetch, According to Vets
Playing fetch is a fun way to bond with your dog, but what about if you have another type of pet? If so, you may be wondering, "Do cats play fetch?" Some do! In fact, depending on the breed, your feline may enjoy fetch, too. So if you are thinking about getting a kitten or if you already have a high-energy cat and are curious if they will play this game or not, see if they made our list of 7 cat breeds that actually love playing fetch, according to vets.
One study published in 2024 surveyed nearly 82,000 pet owners and discovered that nearly 41 percent of cat owners said their kitties enjoy playing fetch. While you can toss a ball, stick or toy in front of any cat to see if they take the bait, some playful cat breeds are better-known for fetching than others. That doesn’t mean a cat in any of these breed categories will be big on fetching though—it’s just a more common trait in certain breeds of cats that act like dogs.
There are so many reasons to focus on one cat breed over another when you're looking to bring an animal home, but having a cat who likes to fetch is a nice perk. So, which cats like to play fetch? If you want one that’s big on interactive play, start your search here. These are the best cat breeds for playing fetch, giving you plenty of opportunities to play with your pet.

7 Cat Breeds That FetchIt may sound hard to believe, but some cat breeds genuinely love to play fetch—a delightful, dog-like behavior confirmed by veterinary experts. Discover the specific playful traits and surprising energy levels of these seven cat breeds and see if one is right for your home.

When it comes to cats that play fetch, the Bengal is one. This playful cat breed has a unique wildcat look thanks to its lineage as a hybrid of the Asian Leopard Cat and a domestic cat. Beside their fun appearance, their personality is attention-grabbing, too. “Bengals are incredibly active and curious, and sometimes they can be more ’dog-like’ than most cats,” says Nita Vasudevan, DVM, a veterinarian at Embrace Pet Insurance.
Like dogs, this cat breed is a big fetcher and even enjoys swimming. “They thrive on interaction and mental stimulation, so games like fetch come very naturally to them,” Vasudevan says. In fact, she recommends that Bengal owners make fetching a habit. “A bored Bengal will absolutely make their own fun, so structured play is key,” she says.
Breed Stats- Personality: Inquisitive, spirited, loving
- Weight: 6-15 pounds
- Lifespan: 12–20 years
Manx cats are sometimes (hilariously) compared to bowling balls thanks to their rounder shape. While this feline is known for being tailless, some Max have short-tails, which gives them a dog-like appearance. However, that's not the only thing that is dog-like about these cats. They also like similar games.
“Many Manx cats enjoy interactive games like fetch, especially if they start playing young," Vasudevan says. She describes this active cat breed as playful, intelligent and easygoing, too. “They tend to have an adaptable temperament that fits well into family life and are known for being very loyal and often picking a favorite person in the household,” Vasudevan says. If you want that to be you, maybe start playing regular games of fetch with your furry companion.
Breed Stats- Personality: Even-tempered, affectionate, friendly
- Weight: Unspecified
- Lifespan: 16+ years
Consider the Turkish Van a super athlete of the feline world. This cat breed that plays fetch is known for high energy, intelligence and surprising dog-like behavior. Not only do these cats love interactive games, but they’re also famous for enjoying water—giving you plenty of active, engaging fun at home. “The Turkish Van is generally thought of as an active, confident and extremely playful cat, which is why they are most commonly associated with games of fetch,” says Aimee Warner, DVM, resident veterinarian at Waggel.
Since this breed is smart and inquisitive, Warner notes they prefer active games over quiet, passive ones. “Instead of swatting at a toy, bringing it back and then forgetting about it, Turkish Vans tend to enjoy the challenge of chasing, carrying and bringing something back to their owner, especially if it becomes a part of a routine,” she says.
Breed Stats- Personality: Active, loyal
- Weight: 10- 25 pounds
- Lifespan: 13-17+ years
The Cornish Rex is fun-loving, personable and another cat breed that plays fetch. Warner describes them as “full of energy” and fast, noting that they love running around the house.
These active felines usually fall into the category of “cat-dog,” as they have a puppy-like personality as well. Seeing how the Cornish Rex is smart, as a result, you can teach your fetcher to do a range of tricks as well. But the Cornish Rex is more than a fetching cat: This breed loves people and all the attention they can share. Because of this, you can expect your Cornish Rex to be in the middle of family life as a result.
Breed Stats- Personality: Social, intelligent, active
- Weight: Unspecified
- Lifespan: 9-13+ years

Maine Coons are often compared to dogs, purely because of their large size. (Many Maine Coons rival the size of small canines.) But Maine Coons also enjoy a solid game of fetch, along with overall play. In fact, you can teach your Maine Coon to fetch toys and you can even train this breed to walk on a leash.
But while this breed is admittedly huge (for a cat), Warner refers to them as “gentle giants,” noting that your Maine Coon will happily cozy up to you when playtime is over. Overall, besides being one of the best cat breeds for playing fetch, they are highly affectionate, yet easygoing, making them an excellent family companion. Maine Coons are curious and friendly, too. As a result, they’ll happily follow family members around.
Breed Stats- Personality: Gentle, friendly, affectionate
- Weight: 12-22 pounds
- Lifespan: 12.5+ years

Research lists the Siamese as one of the more common cat breeds that enjoy fetching. The facts add up as this feline is playful and very interactive, making them a natural at this game, according to Kate Elden, DVM, chief medical officer at Dutch.
But Siamese are so much more than great fetchers. "This interactive cat breed tends to be very vocal and social," Dutch says. "They’re also a little nosy, and will happily follow you around to see what you’re getting into. They are likely to talk to you in the process as well."
Breed Stats- Personality: Playful, social
- Weight: 5-12 pounds
- Lifespan: 10-20 years
The Japanese Bobtail just looks like a good time, with its signature pom-pom tail. Though this breed is known for its charm and smarts, it’s also highly active. Hence, why the Japanese Bobtail loves playing fetch.
In fact, some Japanese Bobtails have such an innate habit of fetching that they’ll do it instinctively. Japanese Bobtails are big jumpers and love to splash their paws around in the water as well, giving you both plenty of ways to play together. All in all, Japanese Bobtails are a curious breed, so expect yours to investigate every area of your home and want to play all the time if you get one.
Breed Stats- Personality: Charming, active
- Weight: 8-12 pounds
- Lifespan: 9-13+ years
Can you teach a cat to fetch? Yes, cats can learn to fetch—and many actually love it. The key is tapping into your cat’s natural hunting instincts and turning the game into a rewarding routine.
Start by choosing a toy your cat is already obsessed with, like a small ball or soft mouse. Toss it a short distance and watch how your cat reacts. If they chase it, you’re halfway there. When they pick it up or interact with it, reward them right away with a treat or praise so they begin to associate the behavior with something positive.
Next, encourage your cat to bring the toy back. Some cats will do this instinctively, but if yours doesn’t, try calling them back to you or offering a treat as an incentive. Consistency matters—repeat the process in short, fun sessions so your cat doesn’t lose interest.
As your cat improves, you can gradually increase the distance of the throw and reduce how often you give treats, replacing them with verbal praise or playtime. Keep sessions upbeat and stop before your cat gets bored. While not every cat will become a fetch pro, with patience and the right motivation, many playful, intelligent cats can learn this surprisingly dog-like trick.
