Clever Sheepdog Holding Remote Control Ransom In Exchange For A Treat Is So Wholesome
When it comes to our dogs, sometimes the best laid plans don’t yield the results we’d like. For humans who have clever dog breeds like a Sheepdog in the house, you know that even a family’s rules are no match for a smart dog. In a recent social media video that crossed our TikTok feed, a Sheepdog named Maui showed his human that even her plans to protect the family’s remote control are no match for a dog with a plan.
In the video, Maui can be seen approaching his human with a remote control holder in his mouth. If you’re not familiar with remote control holders, they’re designed to protect the remote control from dogs (or kids) who might want to take them for themselves.
@maui.the.sheepdogon today’s episode of “things Maui took that he shouldn’t have”: our remote holder, that’s supposed to deter him from getting the remote. 😂 #oldenglishsheepdog #oldenglishsheepdogsoftiktok #sheepdogsoftiktok #sheepdog #MauiTheSheepdog
♬ original sound - Maui The Sheepdog 🐾“Things Maui took that he shouldn’t have,” is written in the caption of the video, a clear giveaway that the remote control holder is not the first household item this Sheepdog has taken hostage. What’s even more charming about the video is that Maui won’t give up the remote control holder until Mom offers him a treat in exchange. Maui clearly has expert negotiation skills. Once the suggested treat has been offered, Maui surrenders the remote control holder and goes on about his way. Hopefully his humans have secured their shoes, glasses, phones, and headphones before Maui gets hungry again.
Clever Sheepdog Turns Stolen Remote Into a Treat Negotiation @maui.the.sheepdogThis is why we can’t have nice things 😩🎃 #MauiTheSheepdog #oldenglishsheepdog #oldenglishsheepdogsoftiktok
♬ original sound - Maui The Sheepdog 🐾Maui gained some serious fans who viewed this viral video. One wrote, “The way he came to the door like “hey so I got a thing you might want.” Another added, “So basically he’s training you.”
One noted, “The man just appreciates the barter system.”
Another commenter gushed, “That is such a gorgeous dog! He is like art.”
Every pet parent has likely been in a similar position with their pup. While not all dogs are as wise as Maui the Sheepdog, whose clever negotiation skills are on display, most of our furry friends are known to take household items they recognize as important to their humans. Chalk it up to dogs seeing important items as a way to connect to their humans and as a way to get an extra treat.
When a Sheepdog like Maui is in the house, no remote control (or remote control holder) is safe, but it’s tough to get too frustrated at a face this cute. Maui’s human is clearly charmed by her pup’s antics, which just might be why he keeps taking things.
Mini Dachshund Is Left Alone for 5 Minutes and Suddenly the Treats Are Gone
Leaving a Dachshund alone near snacks is always a calculated risk because they love to eat, and when you add in their curiosity and determination, it’s like a recipe for disaster that usually lands in some sort of chaos. Give them even a few unsupervised minutes, and they’ll start causing chaos in a way that you didn’t expect. They keep you on your toes!
This video captures the aftermath as a Mini Dachshund sits nearby looking suspiciously innocent while his parent tries to figure out exactly what happened. The expression says, “I have no idea what you’re talking about,” even though the evidence might suggest otherwise. Take a look!

He's trying to play coy and act like he's got no idea why his parent is asking about the bowl of treats that they swore was on the table, but has mysteriously disappeared.
From this clip, it's probably safe to say it was Dougie who ate all the snacks, and it's the sad puppy eyes he's giving his parent that give away his secret. Yes, he's guilty, his tummy is full, and it's hilarious.

In the comments, people made it very clear that they're taking sides, and it's not on the side of the one pointing fingers.
One person wrote, "He's like, 'Your fault, Dad, you left them there just unattended.'"
Another shared, "Why do they always do the tail wag when they have done something wrong?"
Someone else added, "It's the low wagging, that's my Dachshund's sign she's definitely done something naughty."
Other comments included, "Looks exactly, exactly, like mine," "He wee guilty face. Dachshunds Are Sweet, Silly, and Not Afraid To WorkDougie is such a fun character, and it's so enjoyable to see his personality even when he's getting a little bit of heat from his parents. And watching it, we see many of the qualities commonly found in a Dachshund.
According to the American Kennel Club, Dachshunds can be described as "curious," "friendly," "spunky," "bold," and "vivacious." It probably doesn't come as a surprise that these pups are considered a "superstar" breed because they're so silly and playful, affectionate, and good with other pups, too.
But Dachshunds also aren't afraid to put in some hard work, the experts say. These pups are good for hunting since they're part of the hound group and have been bred to be an "independent hunter of dangerous prey," where they can be brave to the point of rashness."
We love sweet Dougie, and we agree with the commenters on this one.
Golden Retriever Puppy's New Baby Makes the Best Snuggle Partner
Golden Retriever puppies are my weakness. I'm a very introverted person, but if I spot a Golden Retriever puppy while I'm out on a walk, I am going to ask to pet them every time. It just doesn't get cuter than that classic Golden puppy look.
Recently, one Golden Retriever puppy proved that she might just be the cutest puppy ever. Everything about her is adorable, but most adorably, she loves to snuggle her new baby:

June is new to this whole life thing: she's only 10 weeks old! She's only been in her forever home for about two weeks, but luckily, her life is already filled with more love than anyone could ever dream of. She's having the best time:
- Playing.
- Training.
- Teething on everyone around her.
- Napping.
Her favorite thing, though, is her "baby," which is just a stuffed toy they gave her. She doesn't like to sleep without it... Well, unless Mom is cradling her like she's the baby:

Toys Can Really Help PuppiesIf you're getting a puppy, especially one who was raised with their mama and siblings around, it's going to be tough. They're used to being with others 24/7, and suddenly, they're in a strange home with people they don't know, no siblings to be found.
One thing that can really help your puppy feel less alone, especially if you're trying to train them to sleep independently, is a stuffed toy. They even make special toys with heartbeats that can help calm puppies down!
June's stuffed animal is definitely helping her. I hope she never forgets about her baby, even when she's grown!

Bernese Mountain Dog Crushes 'First Days as Big Brother' in Adorable Clip
Babies and dogs go together like peanut butter and jelly. It takes a little patience for some pups to adjust to a new baby in the house, but there are definitely some who were clearly born for the role of older sibling.
Gus, the Bernese Mountain Dog, is still getting used to his human baby sister, Isla, but already, he's passing the test with flying colors.

As a young boy himself, the Bernese Mountain Dog has lots of energy to burn, so those quiet moments babies need have been a bit of a test for the sweet boy.
The video shows that Gus is a happy pup who'll do anything his parents ask of him. But as explained, he's not quite sure what to do with a baby and prefers older kids who will play with him and engage a little more. Don't worry, Gus—she'll be big soon enough!

The changes are something Gus is still working through, especially after the sudden and shocking loss of his older dog brother, Walt, a couple of months back. The two were close, and Gus learned how to be a good boy from his brother, so I imagine it'll take some time for the doting dog to accept that this is what life is now.
Honestly, as a fan of the pup brothers, it's a loss felt across the miles, and I'm sure I'm not alone. Gus really loved Walt, and I'm sure he'll learn to love and care for Isla, too.

Nearly all family pups are loyal to their people, but Berners like Gus stick by their loved ones like it's literally their job. That means one day Isla will understand all the ways Gus adored and protected her—even if she's just a boring baby right now!

Ragdoll Cat ‘Eats Lying Down’ Like a Cool King
When they want to be, pets are playful, energetic, and hard to keep down. However, when they set their mind to it, even the most energetic pet can be lazier than Garfield after a full pan of lasagna.
Just look at this Ragdoll cat: he was feeling so lazy that he decided to eat his dinner while lying down. Honestly, it was pretty efficient. I might need to try it for myself:
@laurenmurppthis isn’t the first time he’s done this 🤣 #fy #catsoftiktok #ragdoll #funny
♬ original sound - TheChilledButterflyAccording to this kitty's mom, Lauren Murphy, this is not the first time he's done this. He probably figured out that he could and now saves it for those days when he's spent all day running around.
If I were him, I'd take it one step further: he should just have his mom hand-feed him each piece of kibble. One day, he'll get there, but for now, he just eats lying down. It all goes to the same place, after all!

Finny also has a very beautiful Calico sister, but she's not quite as lazy as he is. Though Lauren doesn't post her cats very often, she did post about her female cat getting spayed.
When it happened, they put the sweet girl in a hilarious outfit. Obviously, that won't make her feel any better, but at least the color makes her fur pop:

Laziness vs. Lethargy In CatsIn the first video, Finny is definitely just being lazy. It's not the first time he's done it, though he doesn't make it a habit. However, there is a fine line between laziness, which you don't need to worry about, and lethargy, which you do.
A lazy cat is going to be fully alert, they just don't want to get up. They should respond when you say their name, their eyes will be clear, and if they're prompted, they will get up. A lethargic cat, however, will seem "out of it." Their eyes may be hazy.
Laziness
Lethargy
Alert
Decreased alertness
Will stop being lazy for the right price.
Non-responsive to their favorite things.
Goes away as soon as they're ready to play again.
May persist for hours or days.
If your cat seems lethargic, you should contact your vet immediately. While not always super serious, lethargy is definitely nothing to brush off!

Pit Bull’s Wildly Curly Ear Hair Is Giving Luxury Earmuff Energy
Pit Bulls are known for their short coats and strong, smooth lines… which is why Mugen showing up with full-on curly ear feathers feels like he customized himself in the character creation menu. His body says “athletic cuddle machine,” but his ears say “I enjoy skiing in Aspen.”
Unusual ear fur in Pit Bull–type dogs can pop up due to genetics, especially if there’s a mix somewhere in the family tree. But whatever the reason, Mugen’s wildly curly ear hair is doing something very specific. It is giving luxury earmuffs. It is giving high-end winter catalog. It is giving “yes, I moisturize.”

Why Some Pit Bulls Have Curly Ear HairRelated: Silky, Long-Haired Pit Bull Is So Rare People Do a Double Take
While most Pit Bulls have short, straight coats, variations can happen due to recessive genes or mixed lineage. Curly or longer ear hair may appear if there’s influence from another breed in the background, or occasionally from natural genetic variation.
It doesn’t change temperament or health; it just makes the dog look like he borrowed accessories from a different species. Mugen’s curls are harmless, adorable, and frankly, a branding opportunity.

Former 'Nameless' and 'Terrified' Street Puppy Celebrating First Birthday With Forever Family Is the Best
Niall Harbison helps countless street dogs on a daily basis through his Thailand animal rescue, Happy Doggo. The canines he encounters are usually abandoned, scared, and suffering from medical issues. The animal advocate often sees an amazing transformation in these fur babies when he brings them to his sanctuary, where they receive the love and care they deserve.
Socks the puppy is one of those stories where the "terrified" pooch turned into a different dog after being rescued.
View this post on InstagramThe Instagram video from @wearehappydoggo showed when Harbison first found Socks hiding in an area loaded with dirt and debris. The scared puppy was timid, yet willing to accept Haribson's help.
Socks had an injured leg that was tended to by the vets at Happy Doggo. Under the care of Harbison and his team at his sanctuary, the canine cutie finally felt safe and flourished. Soon, she was adopted by her forever family in Spain.
"Looking back at where she started, it’s hard to believe she’s even the same dog," the caption shared. "Socks went from hiding on the streets of Thailand to finding her place in the sun in Spain. She was so terrified when she first arrived, but seeing her open up has been everything. We still don’t know the story behind her leg, but it clearly doesn’t slow her down!"
Socks Had a 1st Birthday PartyThe video continued with a montage of Socks in her new home getting plenty of attention from her parents, playing with her canine sibling, and frolicking on the beach. Her family even threw her a special first birthday party, complete with party hats and balloons.
Socks is now enjoying a lot of love and affection in her new home and is living her best life.
"From a nameless pup alone on the streets to celebrating her birthday with her forever family," the onscreen text read. "You are so loved, Socks."

Making Dogs Part of WeddingsWhile it may have been some time since you last attended a wedding, there’s one trend that never goes out of style: including your pet in your special day!
Whether it’s appearing in the engagement announcement photos, walking in the ceremony as ring bearers, or being honorary members of the bridal party, dogs are very much a part of today’s weddings!
In fact, wedding pet care is a rapidly growing market, operating at the intersection of the pet care and wedding sectors.
With this in mind, however, it’s not an open invitation for dogs to crash a wedding.

8 Dog Body Language Signs You Need to Know
Dogs may not speak our language, but they’re always communicating with us in their own canine way through different behaviors. From the way they hold their bodies to the position of their ears and even small movements of their eyes or tails, subtle movements offer important insight into how they’re feeling. The tricky part for many pet parents is figuring out what those signals actually mean. To help you out, we rounded up 8 dog body language signs so you can understand your pup better, according to experts.
After all, while a wagging tail can seem like an obvious sign of happiness, it’s not always that simple. Same for a hard stare, a lick of the lips or even a dog pacing across the room as they can mean anything from excitement to stress. To help make sense of these everyday dog behaviors, we asked veterinarians and professional dog trainers to give some insight on how pet parents can read their dog’s body language and decode it. That way, it's less confusing.
By learning these signs, you’ll be able to better understand your dog, respond to their needs, and strengthen the bond you share. With just a little attention to their gestures and movements, your dog’s daily behavior can become much easier to interpret—making life together more joyful for both you and your pup.

8 Dog Body Language Signs Every Owner Should KnowDogs communicate far more through movement and posture than through sound. Paying attention to canine body language and behavior cues can reveal what your dog is feeling and how they’re reacting to their environment.
A puppy displaying happy body language. Pacing and CirclingIf your dog repeatedly walks back and forth across the room or circles the same spot, it’s not always excess energy. That's why understand dog behavior is difficult when you're a dog mom or dad. So what's your dog trying to tell you when they do this?
In dogs of any age, this can signal anxiety, pain or gastrointestinal upset. Pacing that appears suddenly, happens frequently or is paired with other changes like confusion, accidents in the house or disrupted sleep is worth getting checked out by your veterinarian. “Repetitive movement, particularly in aging dogs, can be a sign of cognitive dysfunction syndrome or internal restlessness caused by discomfort,” adds Bethany Hsia, veterinarian and co-founder of CodaPet.
Understanding these movements is an important part of reading your dog’s body language and recognizing subtle dog behavior signs that help you respond to their needs effectively.
Avoidance and IsolationOne common but often overlooked form of dog body language is avoidance and isolation. This type of dog behavior can easily be misread or go unnoticed by pet parents. Dogs that normally love attention but suddenly seem withdrawn may be trying to tell you something important as this can be a form of dog communication.
“A dog that suddenly seeks isolation or turns its body away from previously enjoyed social touch may be communicating that physical interaction has become painful,” Hsia explains. Turning away, leaving the room or lying down in a quiet corner may be your dog’s way of telling you they’re uncomfortable, ill or stressed. While many dogs simply need downtime, a noticeable shift in your dog’s personality warrants a veterinary checkup to rule out underlying medical issues.
Ears ForwardDid you know that your dog's body language includes signs from their ear positons? A dog’s ears are like emotional antennae, and this dog behavioral sign says they’re likely tuned in. “When a dog’s ears are upright and leaning forward, they’re alert and taking in information,” says Mary van Kriedt, certified dog trainer and founder of FreeRun Leashes Inc. “Something has their attention.”
Basically, forward ears can signal curiosity, interest, or excitement. You might notice that your pup does this when they hear a new sound, spots a squirrel in the yard, or watches another dog approach. Observing these ear movements helps you interpret your dog’s behavior and respond in ways that make them feel safe, understood and engaged.
A Fast Tail WagWhy do dog wags their tail? Well, it’s a popular misconception that any tail wag equals happiness, but experts say speed and height add context to what your dog is actually trying to tell you. A high, tight wag, for instance, can signal rising arousal. “The dog’s nervous system is ramping up,” van Kriedt says. “That excitement isn’t automatically negative, but if they become overstimulated or frustrated, it can tip into reactivity.”
On the other hand, a loose, sweeping wag with a dog's hips often means they are feeling relaxed and friendly, while a quick, rigid tail wag that is held high over their back is often a sign of alertness or agitation. Pay attention to the whole picture, because your dog’s tail posture is just one piece of the puzzle when it comes to decoding a dog's body language.
The Play BowFew canine body language signs are as cute as the classic play bow. “When a dog lowers their front end and keeps their back end up, they’re clearly saying, ‘This is play,’” van Kriedt explains. “It’s their way of making sure the interaction stays friendly.”
In a play bow, dogs stretch their front legs forward, dip their chest low and wag their tail high in the air. This dog behavior cue is an invitation to play or a way to reset interactions that may have gotten too intense. Observing this sign is an important part of understanding your dog’s moods and intentions, helping you recognize when your pup is relaxed, happy, or ready for friendly social interaction.
Related: 7 of the Prettiest Dog Breeds You’ll Ever Meet, According to Experts
Lip LickingAlthough easy to miss, lip licking is a subtle but important dog body language sign that can reveal a lot about your pup’s emotional state. A quick tongue flick when no food is around is often a small stress signal. “It’s a dog’s way of trying to calm themselves or the situation,” van Kriedt says. “Some dogs will lick their lips when you touch them in places they would rather you didn't.”
You may also notice your dog licking its lips at the vet’s office, during grooming or when a child leans in for a hug. That's because this dog behavior cue is widely recognized as a way for dogs to communicate anxiety, or the need for space. Repeated lip licking, often paired with yawning or turning the head away, can signal that your dog is asking for a moment of calmness. So, if you notice your pup doing this, they are trying to silently communicate with you what their needs are in that moment.
Rapid BlinkingAnother classic dog behavior sign you need to know include blinking. In fact, eye movements can be subtle but powerful indicators of emotion and a way your dog speaks to you without making a sound. “Repeated blinking or looking away is often a calming signal,” van Kriedt explains. “A dog doing this is trying to lower the tension at the moment.”
When dogs feel uneasy, they may avoid direct eye contact by blinking rapidly or glancing to the side. It’s an important behavior that helps diffuse potential conflict. Slow blinking and soft eyes, meanwhile, are your dog’s way of telling you that they’re feeling relaxed and trusting.
The Hard StareAt the other end of the spectrum, a hard stare should never be ignored. “When a dog is giving an intense stare without blinking, and the eyes are dilated, it means the dog feels threatened or dominant,” says Sally Grottini, veteran dog trainer and JustAnswer dog behavior expert. “You should be prepared for some aggressive behavior.”
A hard stare is often paired with a stiff body, closed mouth and still posture. If you see this expression directed at another dog or person, it’s best to calmly create distance and redirect your dog’s attention before the situation escalates.
Understanding your dog’s body language doesn’t just prevent problems. It strengthens your bond. When you can recognize early signs of stress, excitement or discomfort, you become better equipped to help your four-legged friend feel safe, comfortable and understood.

Adorable Cattle Dogs Become Kitchen Supervisors During Homemade Dog Meatballs
It's easy to dismiss cooking for your dog as a luxury, but there are genuine benefits to incorporating fresh, homemade meals into their routine.
Anyone who has cooked with dogs in the house knows this scene well. You chop ingredients, and suddenly there’s a pair of eyes tracking every movement.
In this video, we meet Sydney and Oliver, two cattle dogs that remain calm through the entire process. You might think filming an 18-minute video with two dogs is a huge challenge, but what makes this homemade meal recipe video so special is the backstory. While cooking their dinner, their owner talks about their history and how they grew from chaotic puppies to the calm adult dogs they are now.
The moment the mixing bowl comes out, these two attentive kitchen assistants appear. They pay attention as their owner is mixing ground beef, pumpkin puree, almond flour and eggs.
What People Are SayingIt is not easy to film an 18-minute video with two dogs who are staying still and waiting for their meal. Anyone who has ever tried filming with dogs will tell you as much. And fans instantly noticed how Sydney and Oliver wait patiently for their meal, with one person saying, “It is cool how they keep sitting, enjoying the show and do not run away.”
Of course, there were also funny comments, like “They're like " less talking more cooking Dad.” That is probably what Sydney and Oliver were thinking, right?
Sydney had the look, as one fan put it, “Sydney looking straight up like ‘Really Pops u had to tell the world didn't yah’.”

Why Some Owners Cook for Their DogsHomemade dog food has grown in popularity because pet parents want more control over the nutrients that go into their pet’s bowl.
Cooking at home allows pet parents to avoid unnecessary fillers, artificial preservatives and overly processed ingredients.
More importantly, you can tailor meals to your dog’s specific needs. For active dogs, that means adjusting protein levels. For dogs with sensitive stomachs, that means adding more digestion-friendly ingredients.
But beyond the nutritional aspect, cooking for dogs brings another hidden benefit. When you prepare homemade food for your furry companion, it strengthens the bond between the two. Food preparation is one of the most nurturing behaviors humans have, and when we direct that effort toward our pet, we create a daily ritual of care.
For our dogs, the kitchen is more than a place where food appears. It is the place where their favorite human creates something just for them.

- The bowls come in several colors, though only the grey and navy — as well as the green and pink, along with the grey and black — are on sale for $6 or less.
- Those three bowls must all be purchased in a size small to get the full discount. However, the grey and navy large bowl is 29% off, so you can get it for $10 instead of $14.

So, what makes this pet bowl so popular? Part of it is the ease in folding and collapsing, as the name implies. Customers have also praised the bowl’s durability, which is excellent news for the energetic friends in our lives.
You should see Winnie when we’re playing fetch. Between her tail wagging and the grin on her face, it’s only a matter of when, not if, she’s going to down her entire bowl of water.
The Bottom Line: If we’re thirsty after walking in the summer heat, just imagine how your pets feel. Now is the time to get something that is clearly reliable and beloved among your fellow pet parents. The repeated comments about the bowl’s durability should especially stand out.
Maine Coon Kitten's 'Flame-Kissed Face' Is Melting Hearts
When I was little, I thought cats could only have three coat colors: black, white, or orange. Imagine my surprise when I found out that there are dozens, if not more, variations. Each is more beautiful than the last!
One Maine Coon kitten is officially in the running for the most beautiful, though: she's perfect. She's mostly black and orange, but she has the most adorable little flame on her face:
@pridemoire#mainecoon #mainecoonkitten #pridemoire #kätzchen #mainecoonkittens
♬ оригинальный звук - EstellaPridemoire Cattery hasn't shared exactly what she is, but judging by the amount of white on her body, she looks like a Calico. There's the little orange kiss on her forehead, but she has an adorable white stripe all the way from her chin down her belly.
That's a s'more. She looks like a little campfire treat, and I can't get enough! Judging by this video, she acts very fiery, too. I'm a little bit in love with her, and to make it even better, she has pretty blue eyes!

What Makes Her a Calico?Calico cats and Tortoiseshell cats are sometimes easily confused, especially in cases like hers. She's mostly black and orange, which might make you think she's a Tortie. However, a Tortoiseshell cat doesn't usually have white spots, and if they do, they're small. Her white spots are all over, and extend the length of her belly:
@pridemoireМаленьке диво 🐾😻 Kleines Wunder 🐾😻 #kätzchen #mainecoon #katzenbaby #flauschig #pridemoire
♬ lovely - moiseslyricsssIt's not necessarily an important distinction, but it is a point of confusion for a lot of people. Torties and Calicos are both mostly female breeds, and there's no evidence to suggest that their coloring affects their temperament, either. Anecdotes claim that "Tortie-tude" is real, though!
Common Maine Coon ColorsThere are a lot of cat coat colors out there in the world. Maine Coons are super popular, and some breeders pride themselves on having the rarest coat colors! Those are typically very expensive cats, though, and can be hard to find.

Most catteries (and shelters) will offer more common coat colors, like:
- Orange/orange Tabby.
- Grey/grey tabby.
- White.
- Calico.
Tortie Maine Coons are relatively rare, and when you do find one, they typically go pretty quickly. Take your time deciding: any Maine Coon kitten is worth the wait!

Unique Shar-Pei Mix Obsessed With Pacifiers Looks Like the Fluffiest Mini Hippo
These days, it seems like you could dream up any combination of dog breeds, mix them together, and create a totally unique, sometimes rare, new batch of pups. Just when I think I've seen the cutest new puppy, I'm quickly reminded that there are about 20 other mixed canines with their own special look.
Enter Bailey: a Shar-Pei-Cocker Spaniel mix who quite literally looks like a mini hippo! This little angel has the fluffiest ears in all the land from the Spaniel portion, and the classic wrinkled look of a Shar-Pei. She's a real stunner—especially when she obsesses over her pacifier like a human baby!
View this post on InstagramHad I not stumbled onto Bailey's account, I wouldn't have known this stunning mix exists. My bar for what adorable looks like has now been raised to impossible heights, thanks to this little lady! It doesn't hurt that her fascination with pacifiers makes her all the more sweeter.
It's the squeaking of the toy combined with her fluffy, floppy ears and the way her face gets all smushed while she chews that made me rewatch the clip about 15 times (and she gets even more beautiful each time).
Related: Rescue Dog Makes Cutest Donkey Noises While Asking To Be Tucked in for Bed
Both of my dogs love a good braided chew, but neither cares much for squeaky toys to soothe their chewing needs. Bailey makes me want to dig up my kids' old pacifiers and see what happens!
The "Pacifier Chronicles" show Bailey chomping on her pacifiers in a slew of cute videos. She really loves those things! There's even a process to her method of chewing and enjoying, which again, makes her off-the-charts precious.
View this post on Instagram Traits of Shar-Pei and Cocker Spaniel DogsWith such a one-of-a-kind look and personality to boot, Bailey got all the best traits from her parents, such as:
- Loyal
- Independent
- Smart
- Calm
- Happy
- Gentle
- Affectionate
- Energetic
When you mix the two, you get a really special dog whose personality shines. That much is clear with Bailey. Whatever she's doing, chewing on, or into from now on, I'll be following along—if only for another look at that sweet, squishy, mini hippo face!

Maine Coon Kitten with '26 Toes and Counting' Has Hearts Exploding
Kittens are undeniably cute, resembling little fluff balls that bounce around with unstoppable energy. Some pretty kitties are born with unique features, like a showstopping fur pattern or piercing eyes that make you do a double-take.
Flint the Maine Coon kitten is a perfect example of floofy sweetness and stands out due to his adorable extra digits.
View this post on InstagramThe Instagram video from @flint.themainecoon features the feline fur baby sitting on the kitchen counter in all of his full adorableness. From his soft, poofy, feathery gray and black fur to his big pointy ears, Flint could make anyone stop and stare. He walked across the counter and kept looking around, showing off that trademark kitten curiosity.
And there they were — those precious paws. A little too big for his tiny body, each foot had extra toes, which made him even more endearing.
"26 toes and counting," the caption shared. That's a lot of beans!
Followers immediately fell in love with Flint and commented on those exceptional feline feet.
"Omgosh... mittens! I love it!" one gushed.
"He's going to be a big one from those feet," another pointed out.
"You are sooo cute, we adore you," a follower shared.
"I love him and all those beans!!" someone raved.
Extra Toes in Cats Is HereditaryFelines with extra toes are known as polydactyl cats. This hereditary trait is caused by a genetic mutation usually linked to a dominant gene that affects limb development, resulting in extra toes on one or more paws.
Related: Tiny Tortoiseshell Kitten's Unique Pattern Makes Her Look Like a Peanut Butter Cup
These extra digits provide cats with stellar balance and enhanced climbing abilities. Polydactylism typically doesn't cause any major health issues, though it can sometimes lead to grooming difficulties or nail irritations. Parents of polydactyl cats need to monitor nail growth and hygiene to avoid ingrown nails and any sores that could develop on their paw pads.
Regular veterinary visits to assess mobility or potential joint discomfort are also recommended for polydactyl cats.
Any cat breed can have extra toes. Flint is a prime example of how those extra digits just raise the cuteness level on Maine Coons.

German Shepherds Watch Happy Baby Splash With Pure Gleeful Joy
German Shepherds are one of the most popular dog breeds out there, and yet, they're so underrated. They're often regarded as being too rowdy or too intimidating, when the fact is that they're some of the sweetest dogs the world has to offer.
They're good with kids, too. Recently, a couple of German Shepherds were watching their babysister play with some water. They couldn't get enough, and to boot, they basically got a free trip to the water park:

♬ original sound - K A O S'Absolute Kaos' might be their username, but it also accurately describes the state of their lives. There are two German Shepherds in the house: Kaos, for whom the account is named, and Mayhem.
They live in Australia with their parents and now their baby sister. She used to be a lot smaller, which is when they learned to love her. These days, she splashes about in their water fountain!

They Taught the Baby TricksBoth of them are older than their baby sister by at least a little bit: they were both full-grown when she was born. Pretty much immediately, they started "training" her, and one of the main tricks she learned was "howl." It didn't always go well, though:
@absolute_kaos1The howling scared her 🥹 #germanshepherd #fyp #howling #dogsandbabies
♬ original sound - K A O SI have seen this video several times by now, and the way he gives her a kiss afterward always makes my heart melt. Name something more precious than that! Other than howling, she knows how to drop food on the floor without getting caught, and how to splash them so they can get wet without needing a bath.
German Shepherds Make Great Family DogsGerman Shepherds need training and a family who will (mostly) stick to their rules and habits. They're super smart, so they can quickly figure out the areas you're lacking in. That's exactly why they can be so good with kids: they like them!
German Shepherd kisses a baby.Image via Shutterstock / Alyona Mikhailova
If you want to get a German Shepherd for your family, though, there are some things you need to know:
- These dogs are loyal and forgiving, but do not like being hit or pulled on.
- You'll need to establish clear boundaries with your children about the dog.
- They'll need to have a place to go to get away from the little ones.
As long as their needs are met and you're always supervising, there's no reason why a German shepherd couldn't be an excellent family dog. You can typically find German Shepherds in shelters, too; try checking there first before you go through a breeder!

Tabby Maine Coon Kitten Was Born With the Sweetest Little Ghost Face
Maine Coon kittens already look like tiny forest creatures who wandered in from a fairy tale, but this little guy took it one step further. Beau has a classic fluffy Tabby Maine Coon body… and then a perfectly white face that looks like he’s wearing the world’s softest ghost costume. Not spooky. Just aggressively precious.
Unique facial markings, like Beau’s, can make a Maine Coon kitten completely adorable at first glance. His fluffy ear tufts, wide baby eyes, and bright white face against his Tabby coat give him that rare, “Wait, what did I just see?” scroll-stopping quality. It’s the kind of look that makes you immediately start rearranging your budget and researching ethical Maine Coon breeders and rescue groups.

He’s held up in one hand like a little floofy loaf, and the contrast between his striped body and snowy face is almost too much. One commenter wrote, “Oh my gosh, what a cutie,” while another said, “I love his little white face,” which feels like the understatement of the century.

Why Maine Coon Cats Are Different Than 'Normal' Cats Huge Maine Coon cat outside.Image via Shutterstock/Summer 1810
Maine Coon cats are known for their large size, slow maturity, dramatic ear tufts, and extremely social personalities. They tend to act more like small dogs than aloof cats, often following their people around and inserting themselves into daily activities, whether invited or not.
My Maine Coon, Meatball, is technically 2 years old, but he's still considered a kitten because Maine Coons don’t fully mature until around 4 to 5 years. He sleeps like it’s a competitive sport, chirps instead of meows, and has recently had a growth spurt that made me question if I accidentally adopted a small tiger. He would absolutely try to groom Beau’s little ghost face until it was slightly damp.
They are just built differently. Bigger. Floofier. Slightly more dramatic.
How Big Do Maine Coon Cats Get? @dear.figgHe wont stop growing until he’s 4-5yrs old too 😳 #bigcat #mainecoon #giantcat #maincooncat
♬ so this is love - soft girl aestheticMaine Coons are one of the largest domestic cat breeds. Males can weigh between 13 and 18 pounds on average, with some exceeding 20 pounds. They are long, muscular, and impressively fluffy.
And they don’t grow quickly; they stretch out slowly over several years, which means your “tiny kitten” may eventually become a majestic hallway-blocking presence. Beau might look like a delicate little ghost now, but give him time. That floof is loading.

Rare Scottish Fold-Maine Coon Cat Looks Like a Supermodel
One day, I'm going to get a cat. Specifically, I'm going to get a Maine coon, and she's going to be the fluffiest, prettiest princess in the entire world For now, I'm stuck with three dogs, who I love dearly, but they're not nearly as regal.
Speaking of "regal," you have to see this kitten. She's a Scottish Fold-Maine Coon mix, and she's stunning. Her little ears are just too cute to pass up:
@bigbabyaslanWhat should I name this little one? It’s Scottish fold female #aslan #petlovers #mainecoon #catsoftiktok #scottishfold
♬ For videos! Rejector weakness system - MoppySoundAslan the Maine Coon recently got a little sister. He's a stunning, fully black Maine Coon cat, and he really does look like Aslan! However, right now, all eyes are on this little girl! She doesn't have a name yet, but she is so cute!
Her new mom has been calling her "Baby Boo" while they work on finding a fitting name. It's hard to think when you're looking at her: she has huge eyes and very pretty, very floppy ears! As she grows, they're only going to get bigger, too!

How Kittens Get Along With Grown CatsBringing home a kitten in general is scary, but when you have a cat who's as big as a Maine Coon, it must be extra scary. If Aslan wanted to, he could probably eat his new sister for dinner and still have room for dessert!
However, their mom has been very cautious. A lot of making sure your cat doesn't mind a kitten is making sure they don't feel cramped, like their space is being invaded, or left out. There are several pets in their home, so Aslan knows how to share the love.

What Are Maine Coon-Scottish Fold Cats Like? This is not a mix I ever really considered, but seeing this pretty girl, I must say... I'm tempted. Since the breed is a cross, they'll inherit traits from both parent breeds, which often leads to a cat that's:
- Cuddly
- Rambunctious
- Floppy-eared
- Opinionated
Scottish Folds are generally a little calmer than Maine Coons are, but they're still cats. You'll have a cuddly couch buddy and a big baby all in one!

Clever Cockatoo Lets Dog in To Show Mom Who's in Charge
If you've never stopped to think about the level of intelligence some pets have, the internet and all of its animal superstars will remind you. I'm not talking about the AI-generated videos of a cat playing a guitar, but the real, everyday decisions some of these geniuses make that rival our own critical thinking.
If ever there were an example of Einstein's IQ—but make it a bird—it'd be Preston, the Cockatoo. Though he's known for his wild, chaotic ways, he's always one-upping himself with things he knows how to do. This time, he's using his skills on the dog!

♬ 実体不明 - yasuhiro sodaPreston's lore goes deep, so if you're not familiar with this funny bird who had his own Inside Edition segment, he's always bringing the laughs with his vivacious and bold personality. Sometimes that includes rage-baiting Mom, or arguing about going outside, so opening the door to let the dog in isn't much of a stretch.
Like many of the Cockatoos I cover, Preston is evolving each day with new and exciting things he's learned. Their knowledge seems endless, which makes me wonder if one day we'll be living in our very own Planet of the Apes, but with gangster Cockatoos taking over.
Related: Cockatoo Who Loves Attention Becomes His Town's 'Prime Entertainment' Source
No matter what Preston is doing, he's pure entertainment. I feel like he was born knowing how to get under his mom's skin because he's a little too good at it, mimicking her laughter like a regular comedian.
@monkeyseemonkeydoranchCan you believe Preston loves the drama this much? #monkeyseemonkeydoranch #funnyanimals #ranchlife #fyp #prestonthecockatoo
♬ 滴下 - yasuhiro soda How Smart Are Cockatoos? You can scroll through all the Cockatoo content on the web, and you'll find they're all pretty smart. Their cognitive abilities have been compared to human toddlers, and ironically, primates (!), so the chances of them taking over are pretty high!
Their advanced problem-solving skills, emotional intelligence, and ability to learn complicated tasks (even with tools) and remembering patterns put them a step above your basic bird. If you give a boy like Preston a puzzle, he'll complete it faster and better than me—that's the truth!
Because this Parrot species is highly social, learning from watching others, that means they're also learning from their pet parents, too. So, if Mom doesn't want Preston letting the dog in, tough cookies—he's got the know-how and the audacity to do anything he wants... and he does!

Super Smart Cockatoo's Fancy Spins Can't Be Beat
Cockatoos are the silliest. I think of all my dream pets, a Cockatoo is the one I want the most... And the one I'm the least likely to actually get. I do not think I could handle a feathered toddler who's still somehow smarter than me.
One Cockatoo is both of those things and, most importantly, she's really fancy. She's great at spinning around, and she loves to show it off to her adoring fans... Always in exchange for a treat. She is a lady with standards, after all:
@gulfbreezezooKeeper Hailee working with Sunshine today ☀️ Training sessions like this help keep our animals mentally stimulated while also giving keepers a chance to check on their health. #sunshine #gulfbreezezoo #cockatoo
♬ original sound - Badgirl1andBadboy1The Gulf Breeze Zoo is home to lots of animals, but Sunshine the Cockatoo takes the cake. These aren't just her tricks; these are her training sessions. She's such a smart girl, and a fast learner to boot.
Sunshine lives at Gulf Breeze Zoo, which is also located in the Sunshine State! It's not exactly Australia, but it's as close as she's going to get, and she's thriving. She loves it there, and she especially loves Keeper Hailee, who works closely with her!
Related: Wild Cockatoos 'Choose New Mom' and It's Amazing
Sunshine the Cockatoo Is Learning TricksThe caption tells us this is a training session, but even if it didn't, you can tell. Typically, when someone gives an animal a treat after they do a trick, it's because they're working on it! Sunshine is most likely going to be spending some time out of her cage, which is why she needs training for tricks!
If she's going to be around people, and especially paying patrons who need to stay safe, she needs to know how to handle herself. Cool tricks like spin are awesome, but she's probably also learning the basics: step up, stay, things like that.
Should You Teach a Cockatoo Tricks? Now, a zoo has a bigger obligation to make sure their animals are trained and interesting than a human would. They want to teach their animals to do cool stuff so we can look at it. Regular pet Cockatoos don't technically need to know tricks, but they do need training.
Curious Cockatoo standing on a deck.Image via Shutterstock / caseyjadew
Learning complex tricks is beneficial for a Cockatoo since it's mentally stimulating, but it's not necessary. Your pet Cockatoo needs to be tamed, if only so you can take care of them. They'll need basic skills, like:
- Step up (to step onto your hand).
- No biting.
- Stay put.
Luckily, these basic skills tend to come pretty easily to these intelligent birds, so long as you interact with them regularly. They need to trust you to learn from you, and in time, you can definitely teach them more complex tricks, too!
