Walmart Is Selling a Stunning $42 Boho-Chic Tiger Rug That Looks Way More Expensive Than It Is
Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.
While minimalist rugs definitely have their place, sometimes your space calls for something with a little more personality. A bold area rug can instantly anchor a room, add warmth, and bring in color or pattern without the commitment of wallpaper or large furniture. It’s also one of the easiest ways to show off your style in a way that feels intentional.
Luckily, you don’t have to spend a fortune to find a rug that makes a statement. The Moynesa Washable Tiger Area Rug is a standout option, and right now, it’s 44% off at Walmart. That brings the price down from $75 to just $42, which is a major steal for something that can completely transform your space.
Moynesa Washable Tiger Area Rug, From $42 (was $75) at WalmartC
The rug comes in two sizes, 5 by 7 feet or 8 by 10 feet, making it easy to fit into bedrooms, living rooms, or even dining spaces. While the green tiger version is the showstopper, there are four other designs to choose from, including a snake print in black or green and tiger styles in burgundy or camel. The low 0.2-inch pile works well in high-traffic areas and slides easily under rolling chairs or doors. It’s also made from faux wool, so it feels soft and cozy underfoot.
This rug is especially great for homes with kids or pets thanks to its non-slip backing and machine-washable design. You can vacuum it regularly, toss it in the wash when needed, and not stress about everyday messes. It ships folded, so you may notice some creases at first, but those smooth out quickly with time, light steaming, or a low-heat iron.
Design-wise, the green tiger rug features a tiger stretched out in a symmetrical pose, set against a deep emerald background. The rich green base makes the orange, cream, and black tones pop, giving the rug a luxe, artistic feel rather than a literal animal print vibe. It feels bold yet curated, which is perfect for spaces that lean boho, eclectic, or slightly vintage-inspired.
When it comes to styling, don’t be afraid to lean into the drama. Layer it with velvet furniture in jewel tones like mustard or rust to pull the colors upward. Add brass or gold accents for a glam touch, and mix in leafy plants to soften the look and create that cozy, collected feel. Pattern mixing also works beautifully here, especially with geometric pillows or textured throws.

Jon Hamm Reflects on Legendary 'Mad Men' '60s Ads as Super Bowl Spots Debut (Exclusive)
He may be stealing the show in more recent series these days, but Jon Hamm's claim to fame will always be Mad Men.
Hey, it's the project that brought the versatile actor, 54, his first and only Primetime Emmy to date — but there's still time. Hamm is keeping busy with other starring vehicles of late, and time sure does fly when you're having fun.
It's hard to believe Mad Men took its bow on AMC more than 10 years ago, and its award-winning star recently opened up to Parade about his experience on the iconic show and how it enlightened him about the world of advertising — especially since Hamm himself has starred in a number of high-profile commercials since.
"I personally learned a lot in playing [Don Draper] for so many years, and as I started performing in commercials, it’s been fascinating to watch how modern-day brands approach their ads," he told Parade exclusively. "Marketing platforms have changed so rapidly, but the heart of great advertising stays the same. Crafting something that hits home for people, whether it’s through nostalgia, humor, or just a really compelling idea, will always lead to a winning ad."
On that note, check out his latest "winning ad" below — which is set to air during the Super Bowl this weekend. Courtesy of your favorite cracker brand, Hamm stars alongside Bowen Yang and Scarlett Johansson in a spot that sees the big names seeking the thrills of a so-called "RITZ Island."
"Getting to work with my co-stars, who are both wildly talented and hilarious, made it such a joyful experience," Hamm told Parade. "There’s just something special about being on set with people who can riff with you and keep you laughing between takes."
The Emmy winner continued, "RITZ is one of those classic brands that everyone knows and loves. They’ve been around forever, and yet still find a way to feel fresh and relevant. Having the opportunity to be a part of that legacy while also giving it a playful, modern, and salty twist, is something I’ll always say yes to."
‘90s Country Legend, 67, Suffers Injury During Ice Accident, Forced to Postpone Shows
Marty Stuart is recovering from an unfortunate winter-related accident that has temporarily sidelined him from performing on stage. The country music icon and Grand Ole Opry member announced the news in a post on social media on Tuesday, Feb. 3.
In his message to the fans, the 67-year-old country legend revealed that he took an unexpected spill on the ice while walking outdoors. The fall resulted in a hand injury and a sprained wrist, prompting him to postpone a handful of concerts as he can no longer play on his instruments as he had hoped he would.
View this post on Instagram“Well, there’s the slow hand – the Mojo Hand, the Winning Hand, the Unseen Hand, the Hard Working Hand, and then I fell down on a patch of ice and did an excellent job of hurting my hand and spraining my wrist, complete with a state-of-the-art hairline fracture. Good job, Marty!” the beloved artist captioned his post, showcasing his trademark sense of humor is still intact, despite having to deal with his injuries.
Marty Stuart Said His Condition Is Improving Each DayAlthough he is currently sidelined from performing, Stuart noted that he is improving with each day. He also mentioned that the most difficult setback of it all is that he has to refrain from playing on both his guitar and mandolin as he focuses on regaining his strength.
“It’s getting better by the day,” Stuart shared. “The worst part of it all is I can’t play the guitar or the mandolin, at the moment.”
Due to the ice-related fall, Stuart has had to postpone several performances and has asked fans for patience and understanding while he continues the healing process. He also promised that he and his longtime band, The Superlatives will “return in full force just as soon as possible.”
“Meanwhile, stay safe, everybody,” the “Tempted” singer concluded his message.
Marty Stuart Gave Fans Some More Guidance in the Caption Alongside His PostAlongside his post, Stuart included a caption to help concertgoers navigate the new changes to his schedule. Fans were advised that updates regarding February shows would be shared soon through social media and email. Those seeking refunds were encouraged to contact their original point of purchase for details.
“Updates for February shows are coming soon, please keep an eye out on socials and your email. For any refund information, please contact your point of purchase. Stay safe, everyone!” The captioned reads.
Currently, Stuart’s official website shows his next scheduled performance will be on Thursday, March 19 in Lexington, KY. For more information on his upcoming concert schedule, visit his webpage, here.

Iconic 2000s Rock Band Plays Fan-Favorite Song Live for the First Time in 20 Years
My Chemical Romance is currently on the Latin American leg of their Black Parade 2026 tour, and for their latest show, they pulled a fan-favorite song out of the vault.
The iconic 2000s era band is currently on tour to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their most successful album, The Black Parade. Each of their live shows features the groundbreaking album, played in full, with additional songs added to the setlist on each tour stop.
But the band's decision to play a deep cut from their breakout album, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, which was released in 2004, has fans excited. The last time My Chemical Romance performed "To the End" live was in May 2006.
At least that was the case until the Feb. 1 show in Buenos Aires, Argentina, when MCR played the Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge track live for the first time in 20 years.
When lead singer Gerard Way announced "To the End" was up next, the crowd roared. In the comment section of the YouTube video that captured the rare performance, fans called it "amazing" and others talked about how "jealous" they were of the Buenos Aires crowd.
My Chemical Romance will continue their way through Latin America until their final show for that leg in Mexico City on February 14.
Those hoping to see the band that made "Helena" famous back in the United States can grab tickets now for their return to the U.S. beginning May 10 with shows in Daytona Beach, Florida, and Columbus, Ohio. After that, they head to the UK to play several European shows that include stops in Italy and Spain.
MCR will return to the U.S. again on August 9 for a New York show before hitting several other stadiums in cities that include Nashville, Detroit, San Diego, San Antonio, and Hollywood, where the band will wrap up the lengthy tour with performances on October 30 and 31.
‘Superbad’ Star Goes Bald and Bushy for New Role
Gaining. Losing. Shaving. It’s all part of the job.
Acting, that is. And Hollywood’s favorite chameleon has just gone the extra mile once again for a movie role.
Jonah Hill, brother to one Beanie Feldstein, romantic partner to one Olivia Millar, and star of the raunch comedy that launched a thousand raunch comedies, is making headlines for another jaw-dropping transformation. This time, he’s baring it all – on top.
In the first-look images for Outcome, the upcoming Apple TV film Hill co-wrote and directed, Hill trades his natural curly top and smooth complexion for a bald head and thick gray beard.
View this post on InstagramThe new do follows Hill’s significant weight loss he achieved for Cut Off, another film he wrote and directed -- this one about a pair of bros who have been cut off by their parents, co-starring Kristen Wiig, Nathan Lane, and Chelsea Peretti.
Conforming to character aesthetic is nothing new for Hill. See his veneered Donnie in The Wolf of Wall Street, his stocky Efraim in War Dogs, and his Slim Shady homage in 21 Jump Street.
According to Apple TV, Outcome follows “Reef Hawk (Keanu Reeves), Hollywood’s poster child since age six,” who is not OK. “When he learns about an extortion plot tied to a mysterious video, Reef preemptively sets out on a redemption tour to make amends, confront his demons, and avoid getting canceled.” Hill plays Reef’s lawyer, Ira.
Further cast members include Cameron Diaz, Matt Bomer, Laverne Cox, David Spade, and Kaia Gerber, and Susan Lucci.
Outcome releases on the streaming platform April 10.

Reba McEntire Reveals the Real Reason Her Wedding Has Been Postponed
Singer and actress Reba McEntire says there's been a delay in her and her fiancé Rex Linn's wedding.
In a February 1 E! News interview during the 2026 Grammy Awards, McEntire explained that they are focused on their careers, rather than their wedding plans. She referenced that she and Linn co-star as Bobbie and Emmett on the NBCsitcom, Happy's Place, which is getting a new season.
“We're still waiting on a third season pickup from Happy’s Place. And Rex got picked up on Stick with Owen Wilson, so that pushed the wedding back. [Linn] says, ‘Work comes first,'" said McEntire to the publication.
McEntire shared that she and Linn, who have been in a relationship since 2019, have been enjoying wedding planning in a December 2025 interview on The Drew Barrymore Show. She also suggested that she and Linn didn't have an exact date for their nuptials in mind.
"People say, 'When are you going to get married?' And we don't know," said McEntire, who was previously married to Charlie Battles and Narvel Blackstock. "We're loving being engaged. We love planning. So whenever we get to a point where we can take that time and be relaxed about it and plan the wedding, we'll be fine with that, too."
Reba McEntire Explained Why She Didn't Immediately Announce Her EngagementIn a November 2025 interview on The TODAY Show, McEntire shared that she and Linn unintentionally hid their engagement for several months. She explained that Linn, whom she met in 1991, proposed in December 2024. However, she and Linn decided it was not appropriate to announce their engagement amid the destructive Southern California fires in January 2025.
She then said she ended up revealing she was engaged after a reporter referred to Linn as her fiancé during the 2025 Emmy Awards in September 2025.
"She just announced it. I didn't correct her," said McEntire.
In addition, McEntire shared what she and Linn want their upcoming wedding to look like.
"A Reba-Rex wedding is going to be very different. It's going to be low key, lots of fun. Lots of people. Lots of food. Just fun," said McEntire during her interview with The TODAY Show.
Sydney Sweeney Announces Early Access for SYRN's Romantic Lingerie After the Instant Seductress Sellout
Sydney Sweeney’s latest venture into lingerie is proving just as magnetic as her on-screen presence. Last week, the actress's SYRN launch went live, and the Seductress category sold out almost instantly. The sell-out signals major momentum for the brand and a clear appetite for its confident, sensual aesthetic. Now, Sweeney is keeping that energy going by announcing early access to SYRN’s Romantic category, which is set to open tomorrow, February 4 at 8 a.m. PT.
Related: Meet SYRN: Sydney Sweeney’s Sultry Lingerie Line Is Now Live
The rapid sellout of the Seductress category marked a pivotal moment for SYRN, positioning it as more than a celebrity-backed passion project. Fans and shoppers alike snapped up the pieces within hours, with many items disappearing almost as soon as they went live. The response "broke the internet," according to some social media users. It underscored the brand's ability to tap into a market that values lingerie as a form of self-expression rather than just an underlayer.
Sweeney's hands-on involvement has been a key part of SYRN's appeal. She has spoken openly about wanting to create lingerie that feels empowering, comfortable, and inclusive—designed for real people and real moments. That ethos seems to be resonating, particularly with consumers who are seeking bras with broader sizing, such as SYRN. Bra sizing is available in 44 sizes, ranging from 30B to 42DDD, with "enhanced sizing" and "sister sizing" available for those who have smaller frames but bigger busts.
SYRN consists of four customer personas: The Seductress, the Romantic, the Playful, and the Comfy. The Romantic category's "Somewhere Only We Know" collection is expected to lean into softer, more intimate design cues than the sultrier Seduction category, offering pieces that balance allure with wearability. Think: delicate fabrics and flattering silhouettes.
"Somewhere Only We Know," Sweeney posted on an Instagram video donning the lacey lingerie and white gloves, clipping rose bushes in a green garden. "The first drop from the romantic world is arriving 2.4.26 at 8 a.m. PT for early access. Sign up today at syrn.com."
View this post on InstagramBecause the Seductress sold out so quickly, Sweeney is suggesting that those interested sign up for the Romantic's early access. After all, SYRN has been promoting the category—which it has called "a little daydream"—on Instagram over the last 48 hours, teasing that "romance is in the air…" and it's "all yours very soon." And the anticipation is already sky-high.
"Ready to fall in love with the first Romantic drop?" SYRN asks on Instagram.
Early access opens at 8 a.m. PT. General access opens at 9 a.m. PT. Sign up here.
Legendary '70s Band Announces New Show Dates 54 Years After Forming
Flyte Tyme is heading to the Las Vegas strip!
The legendary '70s R&B/funk band, known as a foundation for the "Minneapolis sound," announced this week that they're gearing up to play a limited residency at the Venetian Resort this spring.
Group founders/super-producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis—who've earned a whopping 42 No. 1 Billboard hits over the years and five Grammys—are taking their talents to the stage to present the Nothing But Hits concert series, kicking off on April 17, 2026. The duo is bringing two special guests along for the ride: American Idol Season 2 winner Ruben Studdard and popular '90s songstress, Shanice Wilson.
Taking to Instagram on Monday, Feb. 2, the special shows were announced. "We’re bringing the music, the memories, and the magic to the stage," the caption of the post read. The promo image revealed they're currently slated to perform six shows from April 17 to 26. Tickets are available online now.
View this post on Instagram Fans 'Can't Wait'On social media, longtime fans reacted to the exciting show news.
"I already have my tickets for 3 shows! Looking forward to it!" one confirmed of their planned attendance for multiple concerts, while another said, "This is going to be next level! 🔥."
Several more had the same sentiment, admitting that they "can't wait" to see the musical performance.
Additional fans came by to drop things like, "I AM NOT MISSING THIS!!!!!" "Ooh this gon be goood👊🏽," "BUYING MY TICKETS NOW," "Heeeeyy alright now! 👏🏽," "Congratulations ICONS! My favs," and "I'm there!"
Flyte Tyme's Early Career SuccessFlyte Tyme formed in the early 1970s as a Minneapolis funk band co-founded by Jimmy “Jam” Harris III and Terry Lewis, eventually evolving into the group that Prince rebranded as The Time—a key act in the Minneapolis music scene. Early on, Flyte Tyme helped launch the careers of musicians such as Cynthia Johnson and Alexander O’Neal and contributed to the vibrant local blend of funk, soul, and R&B that was emerging at the time.
Although the band itself never achieved mainstream chart success, its members’ later work and the sound they cultivated—energetic, synth-driven funk rooted in soul traditions—played a foundational role in shaping what became known as the Minneapolis Sound, a hybrid of R&B, funk, pop, and electronic elements that influenced many 1980s artists.
After departing from The Time in the early 1980s, Jam and Lewis resurrected Flyte Tyme as a production company and studio, quickly establishing themselves as influential producers in soul, R&B, and pop music. Their breakthrough came with hits like the S.O.S. Band’s "Just Be Good to Me," and they later crafted a string of classic records for artists including Cherrelle, Cheryl Lynn, and most notably Janet Jackson, whose Control album helped redefine contemporary R&B with its fusion of funk rhythms and polished pop production.
Over the following decades, Flyte Tyme Productions was associated with dozens of Top 10 hits and numerous Grammy awards, leaving a lasting imprint on the sound of modern R&B and soul and influencing generations of producers and artists.

'NCIS: LA' Alum Daniela Ruah Gets Her Next Big Break
Daniela Ruah got her first big break in the U.S. when she was cast in the role of Special Agent Kensi Blye on NCIS: Los Angeles. It made her a household name. The CBS series also gave her the opportunity to make her directorial debut. She went on to direct six episodes of LA, one episode of NCIS, one of NCIS: Hawaii and an episode of Equalizer.
Now, the hyphenate is making her motion picture directing debut with Nowhere Boy, an adaptation of the novel by Katherine Marsh, Deadline was first to report.
The description is as follows: “The YA novel charts the story of a teenage refugee escaping conflict whose father dies on their journey to Europe. As an orphan alone in Brussels, his dream of reaching England fades. Instead, he finds himself hiding in a house where, upstairs, an American family — including a 13-year-old boy named Max — lives. Max finds Ahmed, and the two become friends, giving the latter new direction.”
But that’s not all she is adding to her resumé. Ruah is also taking on an acting role when she stars in the movie And Then She Was Gone. In the film, she will re-team with Natalia del Riego, who played her daughter on the CBS series. Again, it was first reported by Deadline.
Based on Karen McQuestion’s 2020 novel The Moonlight Child and written by Justin Kohlas, And Then She Was Gone follows 19-year-old Niki, a former foster child adjusting to a new way of life in the home of Sharon Lemke. When they notice a mysterious girl in the house next door, the duo investigates and reveal a haunting truth.
“I was immediately drawn to both McQuestion’s book and Justin’s screenplay — he has such a wonderful instinct for keeping us on our toes as the plot unfolds,” said Ruah. “Having worked together for over a decade, I’m very excited to continue telling great stories with Justin, this time in a new role.”

Newly Released 911 Audio Sheds Light on Nancy Guthrie's Health Prior to Her Abduction
More details are emerging about Nancy Guthrie's current state of health following the apparent abduction of Today anchor Savannah Guthrie's mother.
In newly released emergency radio traffic, originally obtained by Fox News, dispatch information provides a little more insight into some of the 84-year-old's health concerns, as it was previously reported that going without her daily medication could reportedly prove "fatal."
The clip appears to come from the dispatcher sending responding units a description of Nancy, describing her as "a white female, 84 years of age, 5’2”, medium build, brown over blue," presumably referring to her hair and eye color, before revealing that "Nancy has high blood pressure, [a] pacemaker and cardiac issues." In fact, police believe they were able to pinpoint the time of Nancy's abduction based on the time her pacemaker stopped syncing with her Apple Watch.
Despite her medical problems, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos emphasized in a press conference that Nancy is "as sharp as a tack,” with no chance of her having "just wandered off."
Nancy was reported missing on Sunday, Jan. 31, after one of her church friends took note of her unusual absence that morning. The friend contacted Nancy's family before heading to her residence in the Tucson, Arizona, area, where she found signs that something was wrong and called 911.
Anyone with any information about Nancy's disappearance can contact the Pima County sheriff’s department at 520-351-4900.Courtesy NBC
Authorities confirmed there are “suspicious circumstances” surrounding Nancy’s disappearance and that she is believed to have been “taken...against her will”. It was previously reported that Nancy has physical limitations that would have prevented her from leaving the area unassisted, with "very concerning" evidence located in the home that indicated she was harmed in the process—which police later confirmed included blood, though DNA results on it are pending.
While a suspect has not yet been identified, investigators are looking into registered sex offenders in the area and are reviewing camera footage from Nancy’s home, her neighbors, local businesses and traffic lights, as well as searching the area with the assistance of a helicopter, a plane, drones, search-and-rescue dogs and volunteers.
The latest update comes from an unverified ransom note sent directly to TMZ, which reportedly includes details about the state of Nancy's house following the abduction that only the person responsible could know. The note has been handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation.
Fans and friends are rallying behind Savannah and her family as they search for Nancy, including her former Today colleague Kathie Lee Gifford, who is "bombarding Heaven" in prayer for the missing woman.

Out of Worcestershire Sauce? Here’s What To Use Instead, According to Chefs
Some ingredients don’t demand attention, yet quietly determine whether a dish succeeds or falls flat. Worcestershire sauce is one of these ingredients. It rarely headlines a recipe, but a few drops can deepen a stew, sharpen a marinade, anchor a burger blend or give a Bloody Mary its kick. When it’s present, everything tastes more complete, and when it’s missing, the absence is unmistakable.
That power comes from how hard it is to pin down Worcestershire. It isn’t just salty, sour, sweet or savory—it’s all of those at once, layered so seamlessly that it behaves more like a seasoning than a sauce. Instead of announcing itself, it amplifies whatever it touches. That’s why recipes so casually call for “a splash,” assuming a bottle is always within reach.
Of course, real life intervenes. Bottles run empty. Caps seize shut. A dinner guest is allergic to fish. You move and realize the Worcestershire never made the trip. Suddenly, you’re standing in the kitchen, recipe in hand, wondering whether anything in your pantry can replicate that specific, savory complexity.
As legendary TV chef and cookbook author Sara Moulton tells Parade, the sauce is “pretty unique, and there’s no exact substitute.” Worcestershire’s original recipe is famously secret and fiercely protected, making a perfect dupe nearly impossible. If you’re trying to replace it, you’re really chasing umami and salt rather than an identical match.
That perspective reframes the problem. Instead of searching for a single miracle substitute, chefs think in terms of rebuilding the sauce’s structure: savory depth, bright acidity, subtle sweetness and a hint of fermented funk. Once you understand what Worcestershire contributes to a dish, you can recreate its effect using everyday pantry staples—often without anyone noticing the difference.
Before exploring the 20 best Worcestershire sauce substitutes we got straight from some of our favorite chefs, it helps to understand what Worcestershire sauce is, how it tastes and why it plays such a big role in the kitchen despite being used in such small amounts. Let's dig in.

This condiment takes its name from Worcester, England, where it was first bottled in 1837 by chemists John Wheeley Lea and William Henry Perrins.
The exact formula has been closely guarded ever since. While proportions remain secret, the core ingredients are vinegar, anchovies, tamarind, molasses, onions, garlic, salt and a blend of spices and flavorings. The mixture is fermented and aged, a process that gives the sauce its distinctive depth and complexity.
What Does Worcestershire Sauce Taste Like?Worcestershire delivers multiple flavor notes in quick succession: salty and savory up front, tangy through the middle, lightly sweet on the finish and subtly funky from fermentation. The anchovies rarely register as fishy, but they provide a lingering savoriness. The tamarind brings tart fruitiness, vinegar sharpens the profile and molasses contributes body and sweetness. Together, these elements transform into a complex seasoning that tastes far richer than any single ingredient suggests.
Emmy- and James Beard Award-winning television host Andrew Zimmern describes Worcestershire sauce as “a dark, savory, tangy, slightly sweet, lightly funky seasoning that disappears into food and makes it taste more like itself,” and admits he goes through a bottle a month.

What Are the Best Uses for Worcestershire Sauce?“Worcestershire sauce is one of those quiet power players in the kitchen,” says chef Robert Irvine of Restaurant: Impossible. “You only need a few drops to wake up a dish and give it some real depth.”
It’s most commonly used to enrich meat mixtures like burgers, meatloaf and meatballs, but its reach goes far beyond that. It brings oomph to soups, stews, gravies and chilis. It sharpens dressings and sauces, especially classic preparations like Caesar dressing and barbecue sauce. Worcestershire adds richness to sauteed mushrooms and roasted vegetables, helping plant-forward dishes taste more robust and satisfying. And it plays a starring role in a Bloody Mary.
Keep in mind: A little Worcestershire goes a long way, and too much can easily overpower a dish.

How To Pronounce Worcestershire SauceIf the spelling gives you pause, you’re not alone. Despite appearances, it’s pronounced “WU-stuh-sher sauce.”
20 Best Substitutes for Worcestershire Sauce, According to ChefsRather than hunting for a perfect replica, chefs recommend thinking about what Worcestershire contributes to a dish—umami, acidity, sweetness and fermented depth—and choosing a substitute that hits as many of those notes as possible. If you’re in a hurry, a single ingredient may get you close enough, but layering a few pantry staples delivers better balance.
Here’s how 20+ foodies approach the old switcheroo, from the simplest swaps to multiple-ingredient mashups.
1. Fish sauceAmazon
Because Worcestershire contains anchovies, fish sauce mirrors that fermented depth more directly than most other alternatives. Top Chef alum Nini Nguyen calls it her go-to substitute “because it delivers the same deep umami backbone, especially in marinades, sauces and braises.”
Caution: Fish sauce is very concentrated, so a small amount goes a long way.
2. Soy sauce or tamariJoe Isidori (chef/owner of the Arthur & Sons restaurants in NYC) calls soy or tamari (which is gluten-free) an “umami bomb.” On its own, soy sauce lacks Worcestershire’s acidity and sweetness, but in many recipes, it still delivers enough depth to keep a dish tasting full and seasoned.
3. Miso pasteAmazon
Zimmern says that, in a competition setting, miso would be his one-ingredient choice, particularly for braises, soups and stews.
Food science consultant Edmund McCormick notes that miso and other fermented soy products can supply depth for cooks who avoid anchovies, though they won’t replicate Worcestershire’s tang or sweetness.

4. Liquid aminos or coconut aminosAmazon
Lisa Counts, chef/owner of The Chopping Block in Chicago, recommends this ingredient (which provides savory depth) as a flexible option for cooks avoiding gluten or anchovies.
5. Ponzu sauceDinners Done Quick founder Katie Vine likes this swap because “the soy component lends a similar umami flavor, while the citrus adds a bright tang that works well in marinades, soups and stews in particular.”
6. A1 Steak SauceFood blogger Nicole Johnson—who doesn’t use Worcestershire sauce because one of her children is allergic to fish—substitutes about half the amount of A1 steak sauce in recipes that call for it. It brings sweet-sour balance and complexity.
Other bottled condiments that work as single-ingredient Worcestershire swaps include Maggi seasoning, hoisin sauce, oyster sauce, teriyaki sauce, HP sauce and Marmite or Vegemite (diluted).
7. Soy sauce + ketchupVine uses “a 50/50 mix” of this duo to approximate Worcestershire’s sweet-savory balance.
8. Soy sauce + vinegar or citrus juiceIf you have two ingredients and 30 seconds, this is the most universally endorsed solution on the list. James Beard–nominated chef Shota Nakajima, Chopped Grand Champion Saba Wahid and food blogger Jessica Randhawa all rely on soy sauce or tamari paired with lemon juice or rice, sherry, apple cider or balsamic vinegar (“have fun experimenting,” Nakajima says).
Soy supplies umami and salt, while the acid from the vinegar or citrus juice restores the brightness that Worcestershire provides. Randhawa says, “It is not a perfect match, but it will provide a similar flavor profile.”

9. Soy sauce + vinegar or citrus juice + sweetenerAnother common swap builds on the above but adds something sweet to the mix, like molasses, honey, maple syrup or brown sugar. “The best substitutes aren’t just one thing, but rather a small stack that adds up to the qualities that Worcestershire possesses,” says Zimmern.
He recommends a tablespoon of soy sauce with a generous teaspoon of lemon juice or sherry vinegar and just a smidge, like a third of a teaspoon, of brown sugar or maple syrup. McCormick says this formula “is the closest one can get to recreating Worcestershire sauce.” Stephan Holland (executive chef at the Equestrian Manor in Ocala, FL) says the sugar “softens the sharp edges.” Food blogger Thérèse Buchanan concurs: “A touch of sweetness rounds it out so the flavor doesn’t feel sharp or flat.”
10. Soy sauce + fish sauce + balsamic vinegariStock
“Ironically, having grown up 10 minutes from Worcester, MA, I rarely use Worcestershire sauce,” admits chef and cookbook author Lisa Steele. Instead, she whisks these three ingredients to achieve that salty-sweet umami profile.
11. Miso + fish sauce + rice wine vinegarFood Network contestant Chef Brittney “Stikxz” Williams says this combination “brings that umami punch along with more depth and complexity.”
12. Anchovy paste + soy sauce + vinegar or citrus juiceFor Nick Pescatore (executive chef of That Pasta Club and That Supper Club in New Jersey), Worcestershire is fundamentally about the anchovy. He rebuilds the flavor by using anchovy paste or finely chopped anchovies along with soy plus vinegar or citrus. “Worcestershire isn’t just one flavor—it’s balance—but without that anchovy-driven umami, it never quite hits the same,” he says.
13. Fermented mushroom garum + vinegar + tamarindFor Worcestershire’s layered complexity without seafood, Irvine turns to fermented mushroom garum (a plant-based seasoning made by fermenting mushrooms with koji and salt). “It delivers that savory backbone from a different place,” he says. Then he fine-tunes it with acid and a touch of sweetness. “Different ingredients, same philosophy,” he says.
14. Soy sauce + rice wine vinegar + ketchup + molassesiStock
Thomas Perone, the chef/owner of Brooklyn Roots Italian and The Corner in Brooklyn, NY, uses a mixture of soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, ketchup and a touch of molasses. “The saltiness of the soy sauce mixed with rice wine vinegar gives it a slightly salty, acidic flavor that mimics the taste of the original,” he says. “The ketchup and molasses add sweetness to round it all out.”
15. Soy sauce + apple cider vinegar + molasses + liquid smokeCowboy Cook Kent Rollins, who says he tries “to never run out of Worcestershire,” combines soy sauce with apple cider vinegar, molasses and even a drop of liquid smoke. “Works like a charm,” he adds.
16. Soy sauce + apple cider vinegar + honey + mustard powderWhen she doesn’t have Worcestershire on hand or is omitting it for dietary reasons, food blogger Emmy Clinton makes this simple blend that she says, “mimics Worcestershire beautifully." To make it yourself, mix 1 tablespoon of soy sauce or tamari, ½ tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, 1 tablespoon of honey and ½ teaspoon of mustard powder.
17. Miso or soy or dried mushroom powder or nutritional yeast + pulverized capers + vinegar + sweetener + garlic powderChef and cookbook author Cara Mangini recommends pantry staples that will bring some of Worcestershire’s intense umami and tang. Think miso (“ideally red miso for richer flavor, but white is fine”), soy, dried shiitake or porcini powder, or nutritional yeast for the umami; and pulverized briny capers to stand in for the anchovy flavor. “A splash of vinegar, the addition of brown sugar, maple or molasses and some garlic powder and you have a quick DIY sauce,” she says.
18. Soy sauce + apple cider vinegar + brown sugar + onion powder + garlic powderCookbook author Rachel Farnsworth’s go-to is 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar, ¾ teaspoon soy sauce, ½ teaspoon brown sugar and a pinch of both onion powder and garlic powder. “This substitution will cover the basic flavor profile that gives a quick flavor boost to whatever it is you are cooking,” she says.
19. Soy sauce + red wine vinegar + ketchup + brown sugar + colatura + cayenneNYC chef Franklin Becker of Point Seven builds his version using soy sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, red wine vinegar, colatura (Italian fish sauce) and cayenne. He notes, “There are always workarounds for everything. If the fish sauce is an issue, omit it. If soy is an issue, replace it with coconut aminos.”

20. Soy sauce + lemon juice or sherry vinegar + brown sugar or maple syrup + mustard + hot sauce + fish sauceGetty Images
“If you want to get even closer,” Zimmern says, “add a teeny dab of Dijon mustard, a drop or 2 of hot sauce, and a few drops of fish sauce” to the soy, acid and sweetener combo he mentioned earlier. “Then you have the fermented anchovy, the tamarind tang, the molasses, sweetness and the general shape of Worcestershire without trying to cosplay it.”
