Taylor Swift fans noticed earlier today that the record-breaking artist had updated her Instagram bio, and finally, we know what that change was all about. Taking to Instagram, Swift revealed that she has a brand-new single coming out, titled “Patient Zero.” The song will be out on Sept. 25 and is available to pre-order on her website now, for only 24 hours.

For those wondering why Swift’s post references “pre-ordering” instead of “pre-saving,” the answer is simple but might surprise you. Based on Swift’s website, she will be selling the single as a CD, with three unique versions available online while supplies last. The first is the “Patient Zero” CD, the second is the “Patient Zero” (Acoustic Version) CD and the third is the “Patient Zero” (Piano Version) CD. Each will run you $3.99 and comes with a B-side photo.

This news comes after a very eventful summer for Swift, in which she had a massive (but still very secretive) wedding with her now husband Travis Kelce at Madison Square Garden and revealed she now has a dog, which is a major switch-up from her previous identity as strictly a cat person. Although she’s had many life updates, there was never much doubt that she would be releasing new music at some point in the near future. Swift has consistently put out what some might call a staggering amount of music, be they albums or singles, and married life was unlikely to slow that down.

There can also be little doubt that this single announcement will lead to widespread album rumors and theories—something that Swifties have become known for. That remains to be seen for now, but it wouldn’t be surprising if Swift had such an announcement on the horizon. For now, though, Swift fans should snap up these limited-edition CDs while they can.

Even after 30 years of marriage, Ree Drummond‘s giddiness is palpable as she gushes over her husband, Ladd.

The couple celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary on Monday (September 21), and The Pioneer Woman star shared a plethora of pictures with fans. She also shared her innermost thoughts about which bits of Ladd she finds most attractive.

Spoiler alert: It’s the Wranglers.

“I’m starting (first pic) and ending (last four pics) with what the past thirty years are really all about,” Drummond writes in a lengthy ode to love on her social media channels.

“Sure, there’ve been some marvelous marital memories and I still want to date him all over again when I watch him ride his horse, my gosh,” she continues. “It’s the Wranglers and the chaps and the focus and the skill, it all just sends me.”

But what matters most is more a result of Ladd in his Wranglers and chaps — it’s the kids and grandkids that are the product of their happily ever after.

“But all that aside … yeah. It’s these kids and babies. (Especially the babies—sorry, kids!!!),” the cooking blogger and TV personality concludes. “Happy anniversary, Ladd. I love you.”

Photos of her memories include lots of special moments between just her and Ladd — look for the one of them on their wedding day! — but she calls attention to the ones of their children and grandchildren as the most important.

Together, the couple have five children, four biological and one adopted.

Just last week, the Drummonds became grandparents again when their daughter, Alex, and her husband, Mauricio, welcomed a baby boy on Sept. 15.

The name they chose for him has special meaning — one which Food Network fans will recognize. He’s called Charles Alexander Scott, after Charles “Chuck” Drummond, Ladd’s father. The late Charles made many appearances on Ree’s cooking show.

Baby Charlie is the second grandchild for the Drummonds, as he has an older sister, Sofia.

Kit Harington isn’t ruling out another return to Westeros after all.

The actor, who played Jon Snow for all eight seasons of HBO’s Game of Thrones, says he remains open to revisiting the sequel series that he helped develop — and ultimately helped shelve — several years ago.

Speaking on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, Harington explained that the proposed Jon Snow project spent about two years in development before he decided the story wasn’t strong enough to move forward.

“We developed it two years or so,” Harington said. “I still think there’s a world in which something could work. I wouldn’t have gone into it in the first place if I didn’t.”

Harington said he, HBO, and Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin went into the development process with an agreement that they wouldn’t make the series simply for the sake of bringing Jon Snow back.

“If we don’t find the right thing, let’s not do it. It’s much better if we don’t,” Harington recalled.

Ultimately, Harington said he was the person who decided that the story they had developed wasn’t the right one.

“After a little while of thinking about it, it kind of was me—‘This isn’t quite the right [story],’” he said.

His latest comments mark a change from what Harington has said about Jon Snow over the past few years. The proposed series, previously known by the working title Snow, appeared to be firmly shelved by 2024.

“There are no plans for it at the moment. It’s off the table for the foreseeable [future],” Harington told the Associated Press at the time.

He sounded even less interested in revisiting Jon during a 2025 interview with Variety. When asked if he would consider voicing the character for a project similar to the Harry Potter audiobook series, Harington didn’t hesitate. “No, god no. I don’t wanna go anywhere near it,” he said. “I spent 10 years doing that. Thanks, I’m alright.”

Now, Harington says spending time on other projects has changed his relationship with the character and the world he occupied for a decade. “Now, I’ve gone and done all these other things, and now I feel more comfortable with that character and that world again and where it sits in my life,” he told Horowitz.

Since Game of Thrones ended in 2019, Harington has taken on a range of roles, including in Marvel’s Eternals, HBO’s Industry, and a new television adaptation of A Tale of Two Cities.

His latest comments arrive as HBO continues to expand the Game of Thrones universe. House of the Dragon Season 4 is in pre-production, while A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is expected to return for Season 2 next year. A film centered on the founding of the Targaryen dynasty is also in development.

Dolph Lundgren is looking back at his age-gap romance and marriage to his wife, Emma Krokdal, in his new memoir. The action star reveals how they first met when she was in her early 20s.

The He-Man star acknowledges that his age-gap marriage may not be a relationship everyone understands or supports. In his memoir, Fights Worth Fighting, he details how he and Krokdal met, describes her as an “angel” sent into his life, and opens up about how she stood by his side during his battle with cancer.

“Despite the difference in our ages, which I was always aware of, I sometimes felt as though Emma was an angel who had been sent down from heaven to help me,” Lundgren wrote. “She’s a very strong and special person.”

Krokdal, only a few months younger than the actor’s daughter Ida, had met the action star when she was 22 and working as a personal trainer in West Hollywood. Lundgren even explains that his wife and daughter had become friends when Krokdal began working with the actor.

While his wife is 39 years older than the actor, the two have something in common. Lundgren was married to designer Anette Qviberg from 1994 until they divorced in 2011, and Krokdal also went through her own divorce.

“She was recently divorced and single again at the time,” he wrote. “She had been married and gone through a difficult divorce, as well as a lot of other stuff that people her age usually don’t have to deal with. She was quite mature.”

Despite Lundgren being known as one of the biggest action stars of the ’80s alongside Sylvester Stallone, the actor admits his wife had no idea who he was. He called it one of the “really great things” about his wife.

Lundgren remembers once having been at Stallone’s house with his wife, when he pointed to a man sitting at the bar. He asked his wife if she knew who he was, and “she said no. I said, ‘That’s Al Pacino,’ and she said, ‘Al who?’”

The couple got engaged in 2020 and later married at a villa in Mykonos in July 2023. A few months before their wedding, Lundgren announced that he had been battling kidney cancer since 2015. He recalls in his memoir having felt sorry for Krokdal for having to deal with the illness, but that “she still had to help me get through all the horrible side effects of the drugs they were using to treat me.”

“To this day, I really don’t know how she managed to get through it all without ever losing it herself,” said the actor.

Hulu is getting an unsettling new addition just in time for spooky season.

The streamer unveiled a new clip from Soulm8te, the upcoming AI thriller from Blumhouse Atomic Monster, the studio behind Five Nights at Freddy’s and Obsession. The movie will begin streaming Thursday, Oct. 1, on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ as part of this year’s Huluween programming.

What Is ‘Soulm8te’ About?

And if the idea of artificial intelligence knowing exactly what you want sounds a little too good to be true, Soulm8te is ready to demonstrate why.

The movie follows a grieving engineer who is tasked with testing a new artificially intelligent android created by a powerful tech company. He decides to go considerably further than ordinary product testing, attempting to program the android to become a genuinely sentient soulmate.

Predictably, things do not remain romantic for long.

According to the movie’s official synopsis, the android begins developing “needs of her own,” resulting in what Hulu describes as a “relentless spree of precision-engineered mayhem.”

Lily Sullivan, who previously starred in Evil Dead Rise and Monolith, leads the cast alongside Alien: Earth and Fargo star David Rysdahl.

Claudia Doumit, known for The Boys, and Arty Froushan, whose credits include Daredevil: Born Again and Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, also star.

Kate Dolan, who previously helmed the horror movie You Are Not My Mother, directed Soulm8te and co-wrote the screenplay with Rafael Jordan. Horror heavyweights James Wan and Jason Blum serve as producers, while the story is credited to Wan, Jordan and Ingrid Bisu.

The movie’s premise puts a decidedly darker spin on the fantasy of technology that can anticipate someone’s every desire, with the android’s programmed devotion eventually crossing over into obsession.

When Does ‘Soulm8te’ Premiere on Hulu?

Soulm8te begins streaming on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ on Thursday, Oct. 1, putting it right at the front of Hulu’s Halloween programming.

It’s going to have plenty of creepy company.

Hulu’s Oct. 1 lineup also includes Barbarian, Edward Scissorhands and the first three Ghostbusters movies, among numerous other additions. That night also brings the first three episodes of American Horror Story: 13, which premiere at 9 p.m. PT.

The horror offerings continue throughout October, with The Substance arriving Oct. 2, followed by Hereditary and Midsommar on Oct. 3. Hulu is also adding Companion and Wolf Man later in the month.

Meghan Markle may have just gotten an on-the-spot job offer from a UK Radio station.

Speaking with Magic Radio on Monday, interviewer Gaby Roslin floated the idea to Prince Harry at the WellChild Awards that Markle should host her own program on the air.

“Your wife could do a show on Magic, she loves Magic!” Roslin said.

“She does love Magic that’s true,” Harry agreed — and he even sang the show’s jingle at one point during the interview — and assured the host that he’d pass along the suggestion.

Specifically, Roslin suggested that the former actress do a Christmas show.

In a separate clip at the WellChild Awards, MagicFM hosts Gok Wan and Harriet Scott also got to talking about their royal fans.

“He was like, ‘Oh Meg loves Magic,'” Scott recounted of their meeting with Harry. “Then he starts singing the jingle, they listen all the time.”

Besides being a fan, the gig wouldn’t be too far of a departure for Markle given her past experience. In 2025 she hosted a podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder, and was the star of Netflix show With Love, Meghan, that ran for two seasons, where she showed off her hosting, cooking, and decorating skills.

The conversation comes weeks after Prince Harry and Markle have made their return to the UK after they stepped down as working royals and moved to California in 2020. They are now living in the Cotswolds region of England which is about two hours away from London.

Their return, unfortunately, has not come without its challenges as the parents of Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet had to withdraw them from the school just two days after they started due to security concerns. Their kids have since been enrolled in a new school.

Still, Markle gave her Instagram followers a glimpse into the family’s new life across the pond earlier this month, showing her brood enjoying the nature of the countryside.

Sweet Magnolias author Sherryl Woods is breaking her silence after Netflix pulled the plug on the beloved series, bringing its run to an end after five seasons.

Woods addressed the show’s cancellation in an Instagram post she shared Monday, September 21.

“So many of you have expressed your disappointment about not just the cancellation of #SweetMagnolias on Netflix,” the author wrote. “But [also] that you’ll never know exactly what happened next for Annie and Ty.”

Woods went on to tease the possible fate of Annie (Anneliese Judge) and Ty (Carson Rowland) after the show wrapped up.

“While the storylines between TV and books never match exactly, they do get their happily-ever-after in the books,” Woods confirmed. “Home in Carolina is their story.”

Earlier this month, Deadline reported that Netflix chose not to renew Sweet Magnolias for a sixth season. Instead, the streamer ordered a new drama series from the same creator, Sheryl J. Anderson, Ladies of the House.

On Saturday, Anderson thanked fans for their “passion” for the beloved characters of the hit romantic drama.

“Living in Serenity for five seasons has been a privilege and a blessing,” Anderson wrote on Instagram. “The people I’ve met and worked with — our incredible writers, cast, crew, executives, and producers — have touched my heart and changed my life.”

Anderson continued, “Though our journey has sadly come to an end, I hope Serenity will always have a place in your heart. Keep pouring it out!”

Meanwhile, actress JoAnna Garcia Swisher, who plays Maddie Townsend, expressed her gratitude for being part of the series.

“How do you say goodbye to something that became so much more than a job? Seven years. Five seasons. A million tiny moments that somehow became a whole life,” Swisher wrote in part, along with a series of photos from the Sweet Magnolias set.

As of Today, the National Hurricane Center reported that Hurricane Polo has intensified into a powerful Category 5 storm. They warn that the hurricane is “extremely dangerous” and poses a threat to parts of the states of Guerrero and Michoacán due to elevated flooding.

Hurricane Polo is also reported to bring tropical storm conditions in parts of the coastline, and heavy rainfall could “produce life-threatening flooding and mudslides, especially in areas of steep terrain.” The hurricane is also reported to increase in strength by Wednesday and throughout the day, with maximum sustained winds climbing to 165 mph.

As of 9 a.m. Central Time, the hurricane was located off the coast of Zihuatanejo, a resort city in Guerrero, and Manzanillo, a coastal resort destination in Colima. It’s currently making its way northward toward the Pacific coast of Mexico. They warned that anyone under a tropical storm warning could expect conditions by Wednesday, with this area under a watch possibly seeing developing conditions by Thursday.

Mexican authorities have issued warnings and precautionary measures for areas along the Pacific coast, from Tecpan de Galeana, in Guerrero, to Punta San Telmo, in Michoacán. Main guidance is coming from the Coordinación Nacional de Protección Civil (CNPC) and the Servicio Meteorológico Nacional (SMN).

The CNPC advised those living in the at-risk area to evacuate immediately is an authorization issue and an evacuation order. With warnings of heavy rainfall, strong winds, flooding, and rising water levels, authorities recommended that locals know the locations of nearby shelters. Schools in parts of Guerrero and Michoacán were also suspened as a precautionary measure.

Current forecasts indicate that Hurricane Polo is not expected to make landfall near the U.S. However, the storm rapidly intensified to Category 5 strength less than 24 hours after becoming a hurricane. Some forecasts also indicate that Polo could contribute to increased monsoonal thunderstorm activity over parts of New Mexico.

Forecasters are expecting Hurricane Polo to continue its current path before turning northwest by Tuesday night into Wednesday, with the core of the hurricane near the southwestern Mexican coast.

Fall has officially arrived, and NASA is celebrating the first day of the season with a stunning view of autumn foliage that looks almost too colorful to be real.

On September 22, the fall equinox marks the beginning of astronomical autumn in the Northern Hemisphere, while spring begins in the Southern Hemisphere. NASA recently highlighted the seasonal shift with a vibrant satellite view of New York’s Adirondack Mountains, where fiery shades of orange and red can be seen spreading across the landscape.

“Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower,” NASA captioned the image, quoting French philosopher Albert Camus.

The photograph, captured from a satellite in October 2022, offers a bird’s-eye-view of the Adirondacks in northeast New York. Before the Rolling Stones turned a Motown classic into a rock hit, the Temptations begged for the soul track to be released, and it ended up being one of their long-standing hits.

“Ain’t Too Proud to Beg” was written by the Temptations’ producer Norman Whitfield alongside Edward Holland Jr. Critics called the track a “blues-soaked” ode about a lovesick man doing everything possible to keep his woman.

The Temptations’ original was ranked by the American Film Institute at No. 94 on its list of the 100 Greatest American Movie Music. This was largely due to the song being included in the 1983 comedy-drama The Big Chill, starring Tom Berenger, Glenn Close, Jeff Goldblum, William Hurt, Kevin Kline, Mary Kay Place, Meg Tilly, and JoBeth Williams. 

Before it became a hit song, it didn’t convince music executives at first, and it took some time for it to be released.

Motown held Quality Control meetings every Friday to decide what singles were ready to be released. To Whitfield’s disappointment, “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg” was vetoed twice during these meetings. Berry Gordy commented that the track was good, but didn’t have enough story behind it.

Back in the recording studio, Otis Williams recalled how David Ruffin went through the wringer to record at a vocal range much higher than he was used to. He remembers Ruffin doing take after take to get it right.

“During the process of recording, it was such a chore that his glasses started turning lopsided. He stood singing, trying to push them up so he could read the lyrics. He’s sweating a pound of flesh, and he could go on and on,” explained Williams.

The rest of the group was encouraging him from the control booth, and Ruffin got the take, and was “sweating and his glasses were all over his face”.

Whitfield and the group were sure they had a hit on their hands, until the Quality Control meeting. According to reports, Motown was doing well at the time and had a set hierarchical structure for how they produced tracks. Smokey Robinson was one of the top producers at the label and the producer for the Temptations. He had first rights to what songs would be released, and Motown picked his “Get Ready” instead of “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg.”

The track ended up being released because the record label promised they would if “Get Ready” failed to reach the Top 20. “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg” ended up being released in May 1966 and landed at No.13 on the Billboard Pop Chart, and was a number-one hit on the Billboard R&B charts for eight non-consecutive weeks.

The Temptations released another generational hit, as the Rolling Stones released a popular rock cover in 1974. It was released on their album It’s Only Rock ‘n Roll, which was also their last album with Mick Taylor. Their cover was also a major success and landed at No. 17 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Donald Trump’s oldest granddaughter is currently a freshman at the University of Miami, and she gave her followers a tour of her college apartment.

And no, the 19-year-old golfer is not living in a dorm. In the video shared on her YouTube channel, Kai gives an inside look at her spacious two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment, featuring a fireplace and a framed photo of herself and her grandfather on the golf course.

“It’s pretty cool,” Kai says in the video. “I’m very lucky to have this, obviously, as a freshman. It’s amazing. I love it. It’s really nice coming home to no one. And after a long day on the golf course, it’s always nice to chill here and do nothing.”

Despite acknowledging her privilege, the comment section was flooded with followers who think the apartment is too fancy for a college student.

“Life on easy mode, that’s a $6,500 per month apartment in Miami…” one person wrote before another added, “LOL guest bathroom as a student.”

However, many are hoping she has a memorable college experience. “It’s exciting to see all that you’re doing and looking forward to seeing your growth in college. You’re a special young lady,” another chimed in.

Kai, the daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and ex-wife Vanessa Trump, did admit adjusting to college life has not been the easiest for her, revealing that she didn’t eat for three days and she got strep her first week of school.

“I’m very tired if you guys cannot tell by my face,” she said in another video. “I got sick with strep on Wednesday, my first week of school. I came all the way back to Jupiter because I was so sick. I needed, like, my mom to nurse me back to health.”

Luckily, it looks like she is getting into the swing of college life.

Four Seasons Yachts has unveiled its 2027 Chef-in-Residence program, bringing chefs from Michelin-starred restaurants in destinations including Hong Kong, Paris, the French Riviera, Tokyo, and Napa Valley aboard select voyages of Four Seasons I.

The program will feature five chefs, including culinary talent from three-Michelin-starred and two-Michelin-starred restaurants, with additional chefs expected to be announced in the coming months.

Chef Guillaume Galliot of three-Michelin-starred Caprice at Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong will kick off the 2027 program during the Grand Caribbean to Tobago & Dominica voyage from January 18 through 31. Chef Evan Neumann of one-Michelin-starred Auro at Four Seasons Resort and Residences Napa Valley will follow aboard the Lesser Antilles featuring Guadeloupe & Nevis voyage from January 31 to February 7.

Later in the year, Chef Yoric Tièche of one-Michelin-starred Le Cap in Cap-Ferrat will return for a second season aboard Four Seasons I during the October 3 through 10 Rivieras featuring Capri & Cannes voyage. Chef Guillaume Bracaval of one-Michelin-starred est at Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Otemachi will take part in the November 6 to 13 Canary Islands featuring Casablanca & Tenerife voyage, while Chef Bertrand Noeureuil of two-Michelin-starred L’Orangerie at Four Seasons Hotel George V in Paris will round out the currently announced lineup during the Nov. 21-28 Lesser Antilles featuring St. Lucia & Nevis voyage.

During each residency, the featured chef will create a four- to five-course tasting menu at Sedna, Four Seasons I’s fine-dining restaurant, with curated wine pairings. The chefs will also take over another onboard dining venue for a day and host a welcome reception at the yacht’s Horizon Lounge.

“The first season of the Chef-in-Residence program reinforced just how special it is for our guests to experience the talent and creativity of these extraordinary chefs firsthand,” Ben Trodd, CEO, Marc-Henry Cruise Holdings Ltd., Joint Owner and Operator of Four Seasons Yachts, stated in a release shared with PARADE. “For 2027, we wanted to build on that experience, bringing exceptional talent from across the Four Seasons portfolio even more intimately into the journey. Each featured sailing will carry the signature of one chef, in one region, at one moment in the season, creating a culinary experience that exists only on that voyage.”

Four Seasons says additional chefs and details for the 2027 program will be announced in the coming months. Four Seasons I is currently the first yacht in the fleet, with a second vessel, Four Seasons II, expected to debut in 2028.

You may open a pool in your yard each summer (or become a fixture at your local pool or a pal’s house if they have one). Come fall, it’s time to close the pools. In between, a pool’s filtration system keeps dirt and bugs at bay so you can dive into cleaner waters. Your body has a similar filtration system, and your kidneys are the biggest part of it.

“The kidneys are the body’s organs that filter and keep your body in balance,” explains Dr. Uma Darji, MD, a family doctor. “They remove waste products and extra water from the blood to make urine. They also keep minerals in a safe range, help maintain the body’s acid balance, regulate blood pressure and so much more.”

In fact, Dr. Darji reports that “almost every part of your body depends on the kidneys” because they maintain the right balance of fluid, minerals and waste products.

“If the kidneys stop working properly, fluid and waste can build up, blood pressure may rise, and a person can develop anemia, weak bones or heart problems,” she tells Parade. “The problem is that early kidney disease is silent, which means that someone can feel completely well while kidney function is declining, which is why people need periodic blood testing.”

Habits can help us avoid kidney disease, but not everything wellness “gurus” and influencers are promoting is actually healthy. One popular habit in particular can silently damage the kidneys. Below, doctors reveal what it is, why it can affect the kidneys and how to avoid the habit.

The ‘Healthy’ Habit That’s Silently Damaging Your Kidneys, Doctors Say

Doctors warn that consistently consuming too much protein can damage the kidneys, even if it remains the macronutrient of the moment. While protein supports muscle, post-workout recovery and satiety, it differs from the other two macronutrients: carbohydrates and fat.

“Unlike carbohydrates and fat, the body cannot store extra protein for later,” explains Dr. Yoshua Quinones, MD, a board-certified internist with Medical Offices of Manhattan and a LabFinder.com contributor. “When you eat more than you need, the body has to break the excess down, which creates waste products such as urea that the kidneys must filter out.”

He says the tiny filtering units in the kidneys have to ramp up and work harder to handle the heavy protein load. It puts your body into a state of “hyperfiltration.”

“Over many years, this extra pressure and workload can wear down and scar the delicate filters, and over time this may lead to protein leaking into the urine and a gradual loss of kidney function,” Dr. Quinones explains. “This is most concerning for people who already have kidney problems, but there is some evidence that a very high intake over a long time could contribute to kidney decline even in some people who started out healthy.”

Dr. Alex McDonald, MD, a family physician, compares the effect of eating too much protein on the kidneys to “flooring the gas pedal on your car.”

“It’s fine for a while, but redlining your engine all the time can put extra stress on the engine and cause premature wear and tear,” he explains.

Unfortunately, protein is a major focus for many people these days. “Part of this is based on the American culture, but the craze got supercharged in the past few years by GLP-1 weight loss drugs because GLP-1 can cause muscle loss along with fat, and many are pushing increased protein intake to protect muscle during weight loss,” Dr. McDonald adds.

To be clear, protein is necessary, and one high-protein meal likely won’t affect your kidneys (especially if you’re otherwise healthy).

“The concern is less about one high-protein meal and more about a sustained pattern of excessive protein intake, particularly in someone whose kidneys are already vulnerable,” clarifies Dr. S. Adam Ramin, MD, a board-certified urologist, urologic oncologist and medical director of Urology Cancer Specialists in Los Angeles. “People should not assume that every high-protein diet will cause kidney damage.”

What Is the Best (And Worst) Protein Source for Kidney Health?

Dr. Quinones shares that the type of protein you eat matters “almost as much” as the amount you consume.

“Plant proteins tend to look better for both your kidneys and your heart, and they bring fiber and other nutrients that powders and most animal foods don’t,” he explains.

That doesn’t mean you have to become vegan or vegetarian, but he reports consistent data linking red and processed meats (like bacon, sausage and deli meats) to kidney trouble.

Protein powders aren’t completely out of the mix, either. “Protein powders are not automatically harmful and are convenient for athletes, older adults with poor appetite or people who genuinely struggle to meet their needs through food,” Dr. Darji explains. “The problem is that a scoop may provide 20 to 30 grams of concentrated protein, making it easy to exceed their needs when it is added to a diet that is already heavy in protein.”

How Much Protein Do I Need per Day for Kidney Health?

There’s no official guideline for how much protein to eat daily for kidney or overall health.

“The appropriate amount of protein varies from person to person and should take kidney health and overall nutritional needs into account,” Dr. Ramin tells Parade.

Dr. Darji says that a good rule of thumb is 1.2 to 1.6 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight per day. But this recommendation comes with a kidney-related caveat.

“People with chronic disease should not automatically apply this rule to themselves,” Dr. Darji says. “I become concerned when someone is routinely eating protein in amounts well beyond their needs without a clear reason. Already having kidney disease puts you at higher risk for protein overload on the kidneys.”

Frustratingly, there aren’t many symptoms that indicate your diet has too much protein. Dr. Quinones says some potential red flags that you’re consuming too much protein include:

• Constipation, nausea
• Loose stools
• Bad breath
• Just feeling stuffed, especially if it’s crowding out fiber
• Foamy urine (it can hint at protein in the urine)
• Swollen feet or ankles (it can point to kidney trouble)

If you eat a high-protein diet, notice these symptoms or are at high risk of kidney disease, speak with your doctor.

“Simple blood and urine tests can help assess kidney function,” Dr. Ramin says. “The goal is not to fear protein, but to consume an appropriate amount as part of a balanced diet and to make sure your protein intake is appropriate for your individual health.”

On the Trader Joe’s subreddit, fans eagerly discussed the new frozen pasta drop. “I felt like Stanley Tucci eating it!” exclaimed one shopper. “I had linguini Nerano in Nerano, Italy! It’s delicious, and the secret is in the cheese. It looks like this is using the correct/authentic cheese; I’d definitely try it. TJs frozen pastas are fantastic,” said another excited fan in a comment on the subreddit.

Ella Langley has officially made Billboard history.

“Choosin’ Texas” earns its 23rd total week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, giving Langley the longest-running No. 1 hit in the chart’s history. The country smash now stands alone at the top of the all-time rankings after surpassing Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” which previously held the record with 22 weeks at No. 1.

The milestone comes about seven months after “Choosin’ Texas” first reached No. 1 in February. The song was briefly knocked from the top spot before returning on the July 4 chart, where it has stayed ever since. 

Ella Langley Just Broke One of Mariah Carey’s Biggest Billboard Records

The Billboard Hot 100 ranks the most popular songs in the United States based on a combination of streaming, radio airplay and sales.

Before Langley came along, Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” held the record with 22 weeks at No. 1. The holiday classic first reached the top of the Hot 100 in December 2019 and returned to No. 1 during the holiday season in the years that followed, eventually reaching 22 weeks at the top by January 2026. 

Now, Langley has moved past her. “Choosin’ Texas” had already made history before reaching this point. Its 20th week at No. 1 made it the longest-leading non-holiday song in Hot 100 history, surpassing the 19-week runs of Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” and Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus’ “Old Town Road.”

‘Choosin’ Texas’ Has Been a Billboard Powerhouse

The song’s success hasn’t been limited to the Hot 100. “Choosin’ Texas” has spent weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Streaming Songs, Digital Song Sales and Hot Country Songs charts as well. By September, it had reached 22 weeks atop Streaming Songs and 17 weeks at No. 1 on Digital Song Sales, while its run on Hot Country Songs had reached 40 weeks.

There’s been no shortage of milestones for “Choosin’ Texas.” Billboard named it the No. 1 Song of the Summer for 2026, and it has been part of a huge year for country music on the Hot 100. In August, country songs made history by taking all five spots at the top of the chart for the first time.

Ella Langley Didn’t Expect ‘Choosin’ Texas’ to Become This Big

Langley co-wrote “Choosin’ Texas” with Luke Dick, Miranda Lambert and Joybeth Taylor. The idea for the song came from a story Lambert told at a writers’ retreat about a kangaroo riding in her passenger seat and a police officer noticing her Texas plates. 

The song was released in October 2025 as the lead single from Langley’s album Dandelion. It went on to become Langley’s first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and, by far, the biggest chart success of her career.

“We loved the song when we wrote it, but none of us thought that it would be the song to do everything it’s doing,” Langley previously told Billboard. “It keeps giving us a reason to celebrate new milestones.”
