Lauren Sanchez Bezos Reveals Her Last-Minute Weight Loss Method for Met Gala 2026: ‘It Was Bananas’
Lauren Sánchez Bezos went to extreme lengths to achieve her snatched look on the 2026 Met Gala red carpet.
As the annual fundraiser’s honorary chair and lead sponsor alongside husband Jeff Bezos, Lauren, 56, shared details with Vogue about how she spent the weekend before the Monday, May 4, event at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
“I went to visit the New York Fire Department and did their training,” she told the outlet. “It’s probably the most unique Met prep ever.”
According to Vogue, Lauren was put through the wringer as she sported fire department gear, crawled through a smoke-filled obstacle course and practiced how to save a life.
“It was bananas, but I loved it,” she said. “I probably lost about two pounds doing it.”
On fashion’s biggest night, Lauren showed off the results of her weekend workout, flaunting her hourglass figure in a navy Schiaparelli dress with a plunging neckline, pearl and crystal straps and a corset. In keeping with the “Costume Art” theme of the evening, the design was inspired by John Singer Sargent’s 1883 Madame X portrait, which depicts French socialite Virginie Amélie Avegno Gautreau in a black gown, with one of its straps slipping off her shoulder. At the time, the detail was so controversial that Sargent repainted the strap on her shoulder.

With the portrait now hanging in The Met, Lauren reflected on “how a small detail, like the fallen jeweled strap, once sparked such a strong public reaction.”
“When you stand in front of it now, you see a beautiful woman,” she told Vogue. “For me, the image represents how fashion and cultural standards can shift over time. Today, a strap is a strap, but back when Madame X was painted by Sargent, a strap was a scandal.”
Lauren faced similar backlash when she and Jeff, 62, were announced as the lead sponsors and honorary chairs of this year’s Met Gala, with some critics accusing them of trying to buy influence among the fashion industry’s elite. Although the couple—who tied the knot in June 2025—have not directly addressed the controversy, she emphasized her appreciation of the annual event while speaking to Vogue.
“I would always linger in the Costume Institute galleries [when I visited The Met] because I really do believe that fashion is art,” she said. “The Met is one of the few places that really treats it that way. So it feels so special that this year I get to help in some small way.”
On the red carpet, Lauren notably posed solo as Jeff opted to stay behind the scenes despite their joint roles as chairs and sponsors. The two previously made their Met Gala carpet debut as a couple in 2024.
In the months leading up to the Met Gala, Anna Wintour reacted to the backlash surrounding Jeff and Lauren’s sponsorship of the 2026 event, telling CNN in November 2025 that Lauren is a “great lover of costume and obviously of fashion.”
“We’re very grateful for her incredible generosity,” Wintour, 76, added, “so we’re thrilled she’s part of the night.”
This Soap Opera Debuted 62 Years Ago — and Fans Are Still Outraged It Was Canceled
Sudsers still on the air these days include The Young and the Restless, General Hospital, and The Bold and the Beautiful.
Just before the millennium struck, fans were also enjoying Another World, which had been on TV for a whopping 35 seasons. That is, until NBC canceled it in 1999.
Monday, May 4 marks 62 years since Another World premiered on the network. Created by Irna Phillips, the Procter & Gamble-run show came onto the scene in 1964 as the first soap opera to tackle abortion, Soaps.com reports.
It was also also the first sudser to do a crossover, with a character from Guiding Light — which was also created by Phillips — coming from Springfield to the show's setting of Bay City.
For those not yet familiar, Another World centers on life in a Midwestern (and fictional) town — as well as "the love, loss, trials and triumph of its residents, who come from different backgrounds and social circles," per IMDb.
Big names landed roles early on in their careers, such as Kelsey Grammer, Morgan Freeman and the late, great Ray Liotta — the latter of whom was able to launch his career thanks to the soap.
Then, after three and a half decades on NBC, the sprawling program was axed as part of a reported shakeup of the network's daytime and early-morning schedules. Decades later, folks are still talking about the controversial cancellation.
A Reddit thread launched last year, for example, that centered on the 1999 conclusion of Another World, with plenty of fans chiming in. "Stupid mistake by NBC. Replaced it with that trash Passions," wrote one Redditor, while another user commented, "I miss this soap and characters like Rachel, Felicia and Cass who were so complex and compelling to watch."
What's your favorite sudser these days? Days of Our Lives is another one that is still alive and well these days, while we're on the topic...
Bad Bunny Looks Unrecognizable During His Fifth Met Gala Appearance
Bad Bunny showed up to the Met Gala on Monday evening looking twice his age.
The Puerto Rican rapper, who made his fifth appearance at fashion's biggest night on Monday evening, arrived at the iconic Met steps as an aged version of himself. According to Vogue, the prosthetic-fueled beauty look is meant to portray the aging bodies explored as part of the Costume Institute’s 2026 exhibition. This year's theme was "Costume Art," highlighting the central role of fashion, with the official dress code being "Fashion is Art."
Born as Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, the singer wore a custom all-black tuxedo that he designed himself with Zara, along with a large bow on his neck that references Charles James' 1947 "Bustle" gown. Prosthetics were created by artist Mike Marino, and every single detail was sculpted by the makeup artist after a conversation with Ocasio about the passing of time.

"Really is this bad bunny," a user asked.
"Abel inspiration," a fan joked, referring to Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, better known as The Weeknd, and his fifth studio album, Dawn FM, which shows the R&B singer as a heavily prosthetic-aged version of himself with gray hair and a beard. Released in January 2022, the cover art represents the record's themes of aging and death.
One fan pointed out, "He followed the theme. Art of growing old."
"This can't be bad bunny????" another user questioned.
"The most underrated thing about Bad Bunny at the Met Gala is that he actually studies the theme and delivers every single time," a user wrote on X. "Five appearances deep and he has never once played it safe or showed up in a generic designer suit just to say he was there. When the dress code is Fashion is Art and Bad Bunny is on the guest list, you already know he is going to be in the best dressed conversation before he even hits the top step."
"The theme is costume art and I couldn’t recognize him there for a second," AllStars Hub, a celebrity news X account, posted. "This is something."
"32-year-old Bad Bunny dressing like a 70-year-old grandpa could be the funniest thing at this year's Met Gala," one user quote-tweeted. "The costume is nice though."

This Met Gala marks Bad Bunny's fifth Met Gala appearance in a row, since making his debut in 2022. In 2024, he served as one of the official co-chairs alongside Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez and Chris Hemsworth. Just last February, Bad Bunny made history at the Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show, drawing massive viewership and celebrating Latin culture on one of the world's biggest stages.

1978 Yacht Rock Breakup Anthem Became a 'Sweet, Sad' Ode to Lost Love
While there are plenty of breakup-themed songs out there that are perfect for listening to when you're feeling hurt or angry or nostalgic, there aren't quite as many from the perspective of someone who's simply ready to move on...but still wants to stay in touch.
One notable exception is Todd Rundgren's 1978 hit "Can We Still Be Friends," which was the first single from his album Hermit of Mink Hollow.
According to American Songwriter, the multi-instrumentalist and singer had recently separated from his girlfriend, model Bebe Buell (mother of Liv Tyler), when Hermit of Mink Hollow was made. However, in the years since, Rundgren has denied that "Can We Still Be Friends" is about his breakup with Buell (or any other specific ex, for that matter).
Ultimately, it doesn't really matter who the song is about, because the story it tells is so relatable for so many people. In the first verse, Rundgren tries to gently introduce the idea of splitting up to his partner:
"We can't play this game anymore / But can we still be friends? / Things just can't go on like before / But can we still be friends?"
The lyrics go on to point out that while the couple had "something to learn," it's now "time for the wheel to turn." And even though they "made a mistake," he wants to remain on good terms.
The remaining verses are a bit less optimistic, acknowledging how painful things have become:
"It's a strange, sad affair / Sometimes seems like we just don't care / Don't waste time feeling hurt / We've been through hell together"
"We awoke from our dream / Things are not always what they seem / Memories linger on / It's like a sweet, sad old song"

A new generation of fans was introduced to "Can We Still Be Friends" when Rundgren scored the classic 1994 Farrelly Brothers movie Dumb and Dumber. The track was featured prominently in the film, which famously starred Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels as a pair of road-tripping buddies.
The song was also included on the 2001 soundtrack for Vanilla Sky, starring Tom Cruise. And over two decades later, fans are still listening: At the time of this writing, "Can We Be Friends" has been streamed 19,709,201 times on Spotify alone.

Margot Robbie’s Met Gala Dress Took 761 Hours To Complete
Margot Robbie returned to the Met Gala red carpet in a painstakingly detailed gold gown. The strapless gold dress gave the actress a classic silhouette from the front during fashion's biggest night, but had an extravagant back. Unsurprisingly, the Chanel ambassador was wearing a dress from the French fashion house.
The shiny gold dress was outfitted with a cascading train of flower petals, and according toVogue, it took Chanel 761 hours to complete the look, which included nearly 1,100 pieces of embroidery. This year's Met Gala saw designer Matthieu Blazy make his Chanel debut after debuting his first couture collection for the fashion house earlier this year.

She also wore a Lion Emblématique Ring and a Golden Braid Ring to accessorize her red carpet look.
This saw the first time Margot had appeared at the Met Gala since 2023, having made her debut in 2014. The Suicide Squad actor has become a staple on the best-dressed red carpet lists thanks to her dramatic looks and close work with stylist Andrew Mukamal while promoting Wuthering Heights and her Barbie-themed outfits in 2024.
This year's gala is celebrating the Met’s Costume Art exhibition, which “explores the ‘centrality of the dressed body’ through depictions and interpretations of the human form in the Met’s extensive collection.” The dress code for this year's star-studded red carpet was “Fashion is Art”, with the co-chairs for the gala being Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and former Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour walking the carpet.
Mike Durrant Reacts to His Shocking ‘Below Deck Down Under’ Firing: ‘I Wasn’t Working Hard—I Was Playing Hard’
“I don't think I did anything wrong,” were deck/stew Mike Durrant’s final thoughts after he was fired on Below Deck Down Under. But months later, his perspective has shifted—dramatically. Watching himself back, Mike admits to Parade, “I hold more accountability in being like, OK, now it's actually time to rein it in.”
In a not-so-surprising turn during tonight's episode, Chief Stew Daisy Kelliher finally had enough of Mike’s antics, and Captain Jason Chambers fired him. The final straw? Mike started needling the crew during their night out by “jokingly” insisting that he was the true head of the department.
This came after revealing a huge guest secret and relentlessly trolling stew Alesia Harris—something he now describes as a brother-sister dynamic he “thoroughly enjoyed,” explaining, “I felt like for me it wasn’t like when I woke up in the morning I'd be like, right, how am I gonna wind Alesia up today,” he explains.
Mike pushed Daisy and Second Officer João Franco to the brink this season, leaning hard into that so-called “HOD” moniker and constantly badgering the interior team. After telling Jenna Woudberg he was the “MVP” and that Alesia would make a better second stew, Jenna hit her breaking point, telling Daisy, “I can't work with Mike anymore.”
View this post on InstagramCaught in yet another moment of “winding people up,” Daisy confronted Mike before ultimately removing him from the boat. “What did I say about winding people up?” she asked, as Mike insisted he “didn't say anything.” When Daisy told him he’d be working until 9 p.m., Mike muttered, “We'll see about that”—a line he now regrets.
“You know what, that was exactly the reaction I had,” Mike says, admitting he regretted those words the minute he said them. “In my head, it was more like I'm winding her up, but… that was actually probably worse than what I meant it to be… it was definitely out of order to speak to somebody like that.” He adds that Daisy “remov[ing] me from the boat was the right choice, and I agree with that decision.”
That moment sealed his fate. Soon after, Captain Jason called Mike to the bridge and didn’t hold back. “There's a toxicity on board, and you're the source,” he said. “I won't tolerate it. I need you to leave the boat today.”
Again, Mike completely understands Captain Jason's perspective. "So, of course, for Jason to have that mindset of Mike being toxic, then especially for a working environment, I agree. And for me, I feel like if I'd have just put that little bit more effort into actually trying to help the interior side, because I feel like for me, I learned early on that the interior was probably a little bit more difficult for me, and it was one of those things where I was having to put myself into— it was a bit more attention to detail."
At the time, Mike maintained his stance. “This isn't the first time I've been sacked… for being the class clown,” he said in his final confessional. “The thing is, I can never change who I am.”
But now? He sees things differently. “I do feel like I made mistakes,” he says. “It wasn't the work hard, play hard—for me it was like I wasn't working hard, but I was playing hard.” He admits that while he focused on entertaining guests, it came at the expense of his actual duties: “Sometimes your best pro also might be your best con… you're sort of letting the rest of the team down.”
Mike also acknowledges that his behavior created tension, especially with Alesia. “Of course, from her side she's thinking… not only is he winding us up… she's having to put the graft in,” he says, referring to her having to work harder. “So I do understand where she was coming from.”
Even one of his more serious slip-ups—spilling a guest’s request for a makeup artist—could have ended things earlier. “I got away heavily with that, if I'm being honest,” Mike says now. “I was very lucky.”
Still, he insists there was no bad blood with the crew (or any of the guests) after filming. “I never left and was like, I don't like this person, I despise that person,” he says, adding that he’s stayed in touch with his castmates. “They were just like, he is a wind-up merchant, and that's all he is.”
Ultimately, Mike says the experience forced him to confront his long-standing habits. “Back in various other jobs, I could never watch myself back… and I never really took accountability,” he admits. “But watching myself back on this now… it's actually time to rein it in.”
As for what’s next, Mike is focused on growth. “I can't change the past, but I can change the future,” he says.

1956 Rockabilly Classic, Originally a B-Side, Was the Song John Lennon Sang the Day He Met Paul McCartney
Seventy years ago today, the song that became one of the cornerstones of early rock 'n' roll was cut at a Nashville studio in a single afternoon.
Gene Vincent and His Blue Caps recorded "Be-Bop-a-Lula" at Bradley Studios on May 4, 1956. It was originally released as a B-side to a song called "Woman Love." The song reached No. 7 on the Billboard pop charts after radio DJs started flipping the single themselves, ignoring the A-side. It sold more than 2 million copies in its first year.
The Beatles Connection That Changed Music HistoryThe song's biggest cultural moment came a year later. On July 6, 1957, John Lennon sang "Be-Bop-a-Lula" with his skiffle group, the Quarrymen, at a garden fete at St. Peter's Church in Woolton, Liverpool. That same day, he met a 15-year-old named Paul McCartney for the first time.
Lennon never let go of the song. He opened his 1975 covers album Rock 'N' Roll with his own version of Vincent's recording. In his final interview before his death in December 1980, Lennon called it one of his favorites and said he still had the original record.

The Rest of Its Hall of Fame RunMcCartney picked "Be-Bop-a-Lula" as one of his eight selections on the BBC's Desert Island Discs in 1982 and recorded it again for his 1991 live album Unplugged (The Official Bootleg).
The song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999 and ranks at No. 103 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. Vincent himself was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998. His backing band, the Blue Caps, was retroactively inducted in 2012.
Vincent died in October 1971 at age 36, but the song he cut in Nashville at age 21 has now outlasted him by more than half a century.

1974 Rock Classic Became a No. 1 Hit 46 Years After Its Release
Sometimes, a hit song doesn't reach its full chart potential until not just years, but decades later.
"How Long," released in 1974 by Ace, became a defining soft rock track of its era. But its story didn't end there. More than four decades later, the song experienced a remarkable resurgence, eventually reaching No. 1 on Billboard's Rock Digital Song Sales chart 46 years after its original release.
Written and sung by frontman Paul Carrack, "How Long" is known for its laid-back groove, memorable bass line and deceptively upbeat sound. Beneath its smooth exterior, the song tells a story of betrayal within a band, inspired by a real-life moment when Carrack discovered a fellow member had been unfaithful, not in romance, but in loyalty.
When it was first released, the track performed well, reaching the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earning steady radio play. Its polished sound and relatable theme helped it stand out during a competitive era for rock and pop music.
"'75 was the year when it took off in the States," said Carrack in an interview. "We were on tour with Yes for about three months, quite a grueling tour. They played most nights. They were playing the arenas, 20,000 and we were just this bar band from London. They put us out in front of 20,000 Yes fans every night. We were very laid-back, casual, rough. We just about got away with it because we had that one big hit, but it was pretty tough."
Over time, "How Long" became a staple of classic rock and soft rock playlists, maintaining a quiet but consistent presence in pop culture. That enduring familiarity ultimately set the stage for its unexpected chart comeback decades later. The reason for the comeback? It was placed in an Amazon ad that made the rounds and gained listeners' attention.
"Over the years, I've done many versions of it. I don't get fed up with it," said Carrack in a 2020 interview. "It's a very simple little song. So for me, it never went away. Whatever situation I’ve been in, people say, "Can you do 'How Long?'" Recently, I did it with a big band, and they did an arrangement of it. I think it was shamelessly trying to jump on the bandwagon of this advert."
The song's delayed rise to No. 1 highlights a growing trend in the streaming era, where older tracks can find new audiences through playlists, social media and renewed cultural interest.
Today, "How Long" remains a timeless classic, one that proves a great song doesn’t have an expiration date. Even years after its debut, it continues to resonate, reminding listeners that sometimes a hit just needs a little more time to reach the top.

2010s Actress Makes Met Gala Appearance For The First Time in 9 Years
After nearly a decade away from fashion's biggest night, British actress Claire Foy made her striking return to the Met Gala on Monday.
The Emmy-winning actress, best known for portraying Queen Elizabeth for the first two seasons of Netflix's The Crown, stepped back onto the iconic Met Museum steps in New York City, marking her first appearance since 2017.
This year, the 42-year-old actress stunned in a black custom gown styled by Erdem, paired with a bedazzled Barbour jacket and black lace veil. Her makeup look was created by London-based makeup artist Kelly Cornwell, using a full face of lisa eldridge products.
Claire Foy attends the 2026 Met Gala celebrating "Costume Art" at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 04, 2026 in New York City. This year's Met Gala theme is "Costume Art," which highlights fashion as a central art form. The corresponding dress code is "Fashion Is Art," inviting guests to treat their outfits as masterpieces. This year's co-chairs include former Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman and Venus Williams.
"I knew I would love it before [Erdem] showed me the sketch – it felt both bold and classic," Foy told British Vogue prior to the event. Erdem and Foy have worked together before — she wore his work at the 2017 Golden Globes, and won Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Drama for her role as Queen Elizabeth II in The Crown.
When London-based designer Erdem Moralıoğlu heard about the 2026 show theme, his brain immediately went to John Singer Sargent's Portrait of Madame X, the famous and scandalous oil painting depicting socialite Virginie Amélie Avegno Gautreau.
"In a way, it pre-dates the idea of the exposure of the body and the overt sexuality in a dress,” the stylist said. “I loved the idea of interpreting that original dress in draped crush satin, paired with a Barbour jacket."

Foy began her career as an actress in 2008, with early roles in TV shows such as Little Dorrit and Upstairs Downstairs. She rose to international fame in 2016, portraying the young Queen Elizabeth II in The Crown, earning both an Emmy and a Golden Globe. After leaving the show after two seasons (Netflix switches the cast every other season to portray The Royal Family aging), she transitioned into film, starring in movies like First Man and Women Talking.
"My aim the second time around is to soak up as much of it as possible," Foy told British Vogue. The last time the actress was at the Met Gala was in 2017, where she also wore Erdem. "At the finish line, me and Erdem will be able to have a martini and a burger and a full debrief!"

1980 Soft Rock Ballad Flopped—Then It Became a No. 1 Hit 5 Years Later
Not every song that flies under the radar the first time it's released ends up doomed to obscurity. Sometimes, another artist finds another way of presenting a tune that hits with listeners in a different, more chart-topping, kind of way...like Paul Young's cover of "Everytime You Go Away," which was originally recorded by Hall & Oates.
Written by Daryl Hall, "Everytime You Go Away" originally appeared on Hall & Oates's 1980 studio album, Voices, but it wasn't released as a single and didn't make much of an impact. When British soul singer Young got ahold of the tune, though, it was a different story.
Young's cover (recorded for his 1985 studio album The Secret of Association) was a slicker affair, featuring John Turnbull on electric sitar and acoustic guitar. The love-gone-wrong song shot to the top of the charts during the summer of that year, landing at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 on July 27 and staying there for one week.
Interestingly enough, initially Young didn't even want to cover "Everytime You Go Away," which would end up being his only #1 hit.
"I almost passed on the song because I was getting into the relatively darker material (darker than my first CD) that was making up the album," the singer explained in a 2011 interview with the Kickin' It Old School blog.
"But when we compiled what we’d got, my manager suggested we lighten up a little," he continued. "So we went back to the cassettes of songs that we’d saved as 'likers' and what do you know? Both 'Everytime You Go Away' and 'I’m Gonna Tear Your Playhouse Down' were on the same tape from the same publisher."
"We did feel we had something special, in fact by the time we knew it would get a U.S. release, my keyboard player predicted a U.S. #1," Young added.
Daryl Hall was surprised by Paul Young's cover of 'Everytime You Go Away'As Hall explained in an interview with Music Connection, Young's version of his song went beyond what he thought was possible for the tune.
"I never thought of it any other way than the way it was 'til Paul Young did it," he admitted, per Songfacts.
"I was just doin' a kind of gospel/soul song; that was all I had in mind for it," Hall continued. "I was really surprised to hear the production they did because it kept the elements but commercialized it — made it sound like a pop record."

Nicks celebrated the annual charity fundraiser for The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute with the one-of-a-kind Zara dress designed by JohnGalliano.
The Fleetwood Mac front woman embraced the Met Gala’s theme “Costume Art” and the “Fashion Is Art” dress code with her embroidered overlay skirt featuring tulle and chiffon roses. She completed the voluminous outfit with a velvet jacket and a black top hat decorated with a gray feather, created in collaboration with milliner StephenJones.
She walked the red carpet (or green carpet) with glittering Tiffany & Co. jewelry, including diamond earrings, rings, and a sparkling necklace from the label’s recent Blue Book collection. The crystal opal statement piece is in platinum and yellow gold, with unenhanced crystal opals and diamonds.
The Go Your Own Way singer kept her makeup simple with a light smoky eye and wore her iconic long, blonde curls down.
Zara and Galliano were also behind Inditex chairwoman Marta Ortega Perez’s outfit. She sported a blue bias-cut silk dress with a matching cape and Manolo Blahnik shoes.
Galliano dressed in a tuxedo from Saville Row tailor Anderson & Sheppard. Earlier this year, the designer announced he will release a collection for Zara. Both Met Gala looks are custom and designed especially for the event.
The annual Met Gala typically coincides with the opening of the spring fashion exhibition. This year, the Met is welcoming a new 12,000 square foot Condé M. Nast Galleries. The addition will pair 200 garments with 200 artworks from the museum’s collection.

This 'Italian Ice Cream' Costco Food Court Hack Has Shoppers Raving
A simple upgrade at the Costco food court is turning a basic dessert into something that tastes much more indulgent. Shoppers are mixing a standard ice cream cup with a specialty topping and calling it a budget-friendly take on Italian ice cream that transports you to Europe. I need to try this.
This brilliant dessert hack utilizes the beloved $2 ice cream cup from the Costco food court. Customers can choose vanilla, chocolate or a swirl. Many say vanilla works best for this specific hack because it blends well with the topping and keeps the focus on flavor.
The Costco Food Court Hack That Tastes Like Italian Ice Cream @photogamiCostco Italian ice cream hack 🇮🇹🍒 wow #costco #costcofinds #foodreview #thesushiguy #italianfood
♬ original sound - The Sushi GuyThe key ingredient in this Costco food court hack, courtesy of user @photogami, is Fabbri Amarena wild cherries in syrup. These cherries are known for their sweet-tart flavor and soft texture. They are often used in desserts like gelato in Italy, which is why many people compare this combination to Italian ice cream.
The cherries are typically sold in specialty jars and can cost around $10, depending on location. Even though they are not part of the standard Costco food court menu, some shoppers bring them in or purchase them separately to create this summer dessert hack.
When added to the ice cream cup, the cherries change the flavor in a big way. One person who tried it described the experience as a flavor bomb with sweetness, tartness and a soft bite all at once. They rated the dessert a perfect 10.
Fabbri Amarena cherries are not like regular maraschino cherries. They are semi-candied wild cherries preserved in syrup, made using a traditional Italian recipe dating back over a century. The flavor is more complex and less sugary, which helps balance the simple sweetness of the Costco ice cream.

Why This Costco Summer Dessert Hack Is Going ViralPart of what makes this Costco hack so popular is how easy it is to recreate. The Costco food court already offers a cheap ice cream base, and adding cherries turns it into something that feels more like a dessert you would find at an Italian eatery.
Shoppers say the contrast between cold creamy ice cream and soft tart cherries makes each bite more exciting. It is also a flexible summer dessert since you can control how many cherries you add or switch between vanilla, chocolate or swirl.
While it is not an official menu item, the Costco food court hack shows how creative shoppers can be. With just ice cream and a jar of cherries, a basic treat becomes something that feels closer to a premium Italian ice cream experience without the high price.

Psychologist Says if You Instantly Hide When Someone Knocks on the Door, You Likely Have These 9 Traits
For some people, knocks are no joke. Instead of readily answering the door for the Amazon or Instacart delivery person, or greeting a neighbor with a smile, they might just hide. Ditto for likely solicitors—in fact, strangers and unexpected "guests" may (understandably) illicit a more fearful or avoidant response.
If you're a person who instantly hides when someone knocks on the door, you might think something is wrong with you. But one psychologist wants you to know that you are not alone.
"Honestly, it is more common than most people admit," explainsDr. Crystal Saidi, Psy.D., a licensed psychologist with Thriveworks. "It is not necessarily a problem, but if it’s a consistent automatic pattern, then it may be worth understanding."
Zooming out, Dr. Saidi says this advice applies to any habit or consistent behavior—whether it's hiding when someone knocks on the door, letting people cut you in line at the grocery store or saying "sorry" reflexively.
"Habits shape both your internal patterns and external identity," she tells Parade. "When you understand them, you gain more control over your behavior, reduce unintended consequences and become more intentional in how you show up for yourself and how others experience you."
People with certain traits are more likely to have specific habits. For instance, Dr. Saidi says that people who instantly hide when someone knocks on the door often share these nine traits. Read on to find out more. And sound off in the comments: is this something you do?

The Psychology of Hiding When Someone Knocks on the DoorDr. Saidi says that hiding when someone knocks on the door is often an avoidance reaction triggered by your nervous system scanning for safety and reacting to it.
See, your nervous system is always at work reading the room. One of its key functions is to use neuroception—a subconscious safety scan—to flag environmental, internal or social cues as potentially dangerous.

If the "danger" alarm goes off, your sympathetic nervous system will trigger a fight-or-flight, freeze or fawn response. Past experiences will often drive your personal response. Hiding at the knock of a door is an example of a "flight" response; you're fleeing danger like you're one of your ancestors running from a bear. It's an avoidance reaction to protect yourself from danger, even if the person is a friend popping in to say hi because they're in the area.
"Hiding when someone knocks is usually less about the person at the door and more about your internal state," Dr. Saidi explains. "It can be tied to heightened threat sensitivity, strong preference for control or predictability or learned patterns where unexpected interruptions felt unsafe."

9 Traits of People Who Instantly Hide When Someone Knocks on the Door, According to a Psychologist1. Hypervigilant tendenciesIf you flee at the first knock, you may be constantly scanning your environment, even in your own home—supposedly a haven.
"A knock feels like an intrusion, and your system reacts before your mind has time to assess," Dr. Saidi says.
2. Startle-sensitiveDr. Saidi shares that you may notice that unexpected sounds hit your nervous system hard.
"The knock feels jarring and almost as though your body is being alerted to something urgent," she says.
You may also be the person who hates being snuck up on if you're startle-sensitive.
3. Control-orientedAll surprises could be unpleasant if you're someone who prefers control. Dr. Saidi shares it's possible that you like knowing what (and who) is coming and when if you're the type of person who hides ASAP when someone knocks on the door.
"An unannounced knock disrupts that sense of control, so avoidance can restore that feeling of control," she reports.
4. Privacy-protectiveYou could absolutely consider your home your safe bubble, but that can burst the moment you hear a knock, especially if it's unexpected.
"Someone showing up uninvited can feel like a boundary violation even if logically you realize it is harmless," Dr. Saidi shares.
5. Socially-selectiveYou're not "anti-social" if surprise pop-ins aren't your jam and make you head for the hills (of bed covers).
Real talk: "It is not that you dislike people, you just prefer interaction on your own terms," Dr. Saidi explains. "A surprise interaction feels draining before it even begins."
6. Overthinking tendenciesYour brain may work even faster than your feet when someone knocks at the door—in fact, your brain drives your feet. Here's what could be going on inside your head if you hide when someone knocks at the door:
"Your brain quickly runs hypothetical scenarios, like, 'Who is it? Why are they here?'" Dr. Saidi reports. "The mental spiral can make hiding feel like the easiest option."
7. Conflict-avoidantEven if the guest isn't on your doorstep with an intention to fight, you may find their mere presence out of alignment with your current state or social preferences.
"Even small interactions can feel like potential obligation or awkwardness," Dr. Saidi explains. "Avoidance becomes the way to hide from discomfort altogether."
8. Easily overstimulatedLife gets hectic, and the last thing you may wish to do is entertain after a long day (which may be every day in your current season). You might be currently overstimulated or experience those emotions easily.
"If your day is already busy, a knock can feel like one more demand," Dr. Saidi explains. "Hiding becomes a way to protect your mental bandwidth and your peace."
9. Safety-drivenDr. Saidi shares that knocks on the door can feel unsafe.
"This is ultimately about protection, especially in this day and age," Dr. Saidi explains. "Your brain prioritizes minimizing risk even when the actual threat may be low."
How To Stop Hiding When Someone Knocks at the DoorStart with awareness, not judgmentSometimes, we're our own biggest critics. If you instantly hide when someone knocks on the door, you may lambast yourself to "snap out of it" and "get over it." Dr. Saidi suggests a different, gentler approach.
"Notice the reaction without labeling it as 'weird,'" she recommends. "When you understand why your brain is doing it, the urgency starts to soften."
Practice controlled exposureThis one sounds clinical and fancy, but controlled exposure is actually a small but significant step you can take toward feeling more comfortable when someone knocks.
"Answer the door occasionally on your terms," Dr. Saidi advises. "Even small wins help retrain your nervous system that not every knock equals a threat."
Create a bufferYour eyes are a tool to calm your nervous system. Dr. Saidi suggests using a Ring or other security camera, a window or a peephole to see precisely who is at the door.
"You are teaching your brain that you can gather information without committing to interaction," Dr. Saidi says.

Final TakeawaysHiding when someone knocks is a behavior that may provide clues into your traits and mental state. Here's what to keep in mind:
- It's common to hide when someone knocks. Other people may not discuss how they react when someone knocks, but Dr. Saidi says it's common to hide. It's not necessarily a problem, but it's worth investigating if it's automatic (and negatively affects your life).
- Your nervous system is always scanning for safety. If it perceives danger, one potential stress response is "flight" (think running from a bear). Hiding when someone knocks is a "flight" response to stress.
- People who hide when someone knocks often share certain traits. Control orientation, conflict avoidance and hypervigilant tendencies are among the traits common in people who run and hide at the knock of a door.
- You can work on this behavior. Dr. Saidi advises against shaming yourself or labeling your habit "weird." Instead, notice that it's happening. Controlled exposure—answering the door on your terms—can build muscle to view knocks as safe, and can also help. Peephole and security cameras can take the guesswork out of whether the person at the door is a stranger, an unwelcome guest or a loved one, relieving stress.

Best-Selling Artist Just Skipped Her 9th Straight Met Gala Since Co-Chairing in 2016
She didn't show.
Taylor Swift was not on the 2026 Met Gala guest list when the carpet rolled out Monday night in New York. It marks her ninth straight Met Gala miss since she last walked the steps as a co-chair in 2016.
The "Cruel Summer" singer headlined the 2016 event alongside Idris Elba, Anna Wintour and Apple's Jonathan Ive, fronting the "Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology" theme. She has skipped every Met Gala since, including last year, when Travis Kelce also turned down his invite. The 2020 ceremony was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A Reportedly Sweet Reason for Sitting OutSwift and Kelce, who got engaged in August 2025, are reportedly deep into planning their summer wedding. According to multiple reports, the ceremony is set for July 3 in New York City, with save-the-date cards reportedly circulating among friends and family. Neither Swift nor Kelce has publicly confirmed the date.
The pair has kept their wedding plans tightly guarded. Sources told outlets the couple is also balancing busy schedules, with Kelce in NFL offseason mode and Swift wrapping the cultural fallout from her record-breaking Eras Tour.
Last Year's Skip Set the PatternThe duo also passed on the 2025 Met Gala. Sources told People at the time that they were "taking a break from the spotlight." That break has clearly continued through 2026.
Swift's earlier Met Gala run included appearances in 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2014, often in pastel-toned designer looks before her image overhaul around the Reputation era. She has not returned since the 2016 co-chair moment, now a decade ago.
Tonight's gala saw co-hosts Beyoncé, Nicole Kidmanand Venus Williams lead the carpet under the "Fashion Is Art" theme. Swift was not seen on the carpet or in any reported guest sightings as of press time.
'80s Pop Icon's 2016 Outfit Among 'Worst Met Gala Looks of All Time'
With the 2026 Met Gala back in full swing today, attention isn't just on the best-dressed stars. Madonna’s daring 2016 red carpet look remains among the most controversial in the fundraising gala’s history.
It was remarkable that the Queen of Pop’s ensemble has been frequently cited among the worst looks ever to grace the Met Gala red carpet.
As the biggest fashion event unfolds today, let’s look back at the music icon’s headline-making appearance that divided fans and critics.
Madonna’s 2016 Red Carpet Outfit Ranked Among the ‘Worst Met Gala Looks of All Time’In a list shared by Business Insider, the “Like A Virgin” hitmaker was included as one of the “worst Met Gala looks of all time,” with the outlet calling it “daring, but distracting.”
With the theme “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology,” the award-winning singer strutted down the red carpet in a custom Givenchy Haute Couture design by then-creative director of the French luxury fashion house, Riccardo Tisci.
Madonna’s outfit featured a body-hugging black lace dress with cutouts that showed off a lot of skin, paired with leather thigh-high boots.
Madonna attends "Manus x Machina: Fashion In An Age Of Technology" Costume Institute Gala at Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 2, 2016 in New York City.At the back, the ensemble took a risqué turn with a cutout design that exposed her buttocks.
In addition, the outfit featured a silver body chain and a jeweled headpiece, while the wraparound elements were reportedly inspired by therapeutic kinesiology tape, which the singer used to support her muscles while on tour.
As for her look, her glam team opted for long, tousled, beach-wave hair inspired by Game of Thrones fan-favorite, Khaleesi, while keeping her makeup minimal.
Unfortunately, Madonna’s red carpet look received mixed reactions from the public and the media.
Some praised the ‘80s pop icon for her bold and powerful statement-making red carpet look, while others criticized her for being over the top and scandalous for a woman her age.
However, Madonna, who is no stranger to controversy, clapped back at the negative comments regarding her Met Gala ensemble, pointing out that it was a “political statement as well as a fashion statement.”
“The fact that people actually believe a woman is not allowed to express her sexuality and be adventurous past a certain age is proof that we still live in an age-ist and sexist society. I have never thought in a limited way and I’m not going to start. We cannot effect change unless we are willing to take risks, by being fearless and by taking the road less traveled by,” she captioned her now-deleted Instagram post as cited by Billboard.

The 1988 Dutch Movie Stanley Kubrick Called 'The Most Terrifying Film He Had Ever Seen'
Stanley Kubrick is no stranger to fear.
The American director is widely considered to be one of the greatest filmmakers of all time, with works across the entire spectrum of genre. He has stepped into comedy with Dr. Strangelove, Sci-fi with 2001: A Space Odyssey, War films with my personal favorite of his Full Metal Jacket, and horror, with arguably his most popular film, The Shining.
The Shining remains a cornerstone of the horror genre, capturing a sense of existential dread that still terrifies me on rewatch after rewatch. The lines between fiction and reality bleed seamlessly together like watercolor as the film goes on, creating an oppressive, mind bending experience that hits just as hard more than 40 years later.
I would consider Kubrick an authority on terror, which is what drew me to Spoorloos, or its English title, The Vanishing. It was a film I had never heard of before, but was incredibly intrigued by. For starters, the poster was incredibly haunting. I was immediately interested, and Kubrick's relationship to the film had me even more invested.
The way the story goes, the director of the film George Sluizer received a phone call from Kubrick. Kubrick at that point had watched the film 10 times, and he called Sluizer to tell him that it was "most terrifying film he had ever seen." He had great things to say about the structure and ending of the film, and went as far as to offer lead actress Johanna Ter Steege a role in his unmade film Aryan Papers.
Sluizer was flattered, and was quoted with saying to Kubrick "Well, you directed the The Shining, haven't you seen that?" Kubrick's response was "Yeah, but that was child's play compared to this!"
So what is 'The Vanishing (1988)?'I'm going to keep my statements brief as this is a film best experienced blind, but here is the basic idea:
A man and his girlfriend are vacationing in the French countryside when they stop at a gas station. While the man is waiting outside, his girlfriend vanishes without a trace. That's all I will really say about the plot.
The film was made with a very small budget, sitting somewhere around 165,000 USD, which is about 489,000 in today's money. The shoot was fairly smooth, save for some clashes between actors and crew members. For such a small, simple production, Sluizer really manages to craft something terrifying that will sit with you long after you watch it for the first time.
The film has had critical acclaim for years, being touted by many other famous figures as an amazing work. Sluizer also directed a 1993 English language version of the film starring Kiefer Sutherland and Jeff Bridges, which was not received as well as the original.
I personally believe there was no exaggeration from Kubrick. This is a phenomenal film that taps into some of the most primal fears and emotions people can experience, and I highly recommend it to anybody reading.

Whether you have a sprawling backyard, a cozy suburban deck, or a compact urban balcony, the right furniture acts as the foundation for relaxation and social gatherings. However, outdoor environments present unique challenges that indoor environments do not. Exposure to fluctuating temperatures, moisture and intense sunlight can quickly degrade lower-quality materials, leading to furniture that looks weathered and worn after just one season.
Modern design trends favor clean lines and monochromatic palettes that blend seamlessly with both natural greenery and contemporary architecture. Beyond the look, functionality is paramount; furniture that is difficult to clean or takes up too much storage space during the off-season can become a burden rather than a luxury.
