‘Family Affair’ Star Kathy Garver Is 80 and Stunning on the Red Carpet 55 Years After the Series Ended

Fri, 02/20/2026 - 8:33am

Kathy Garver has seen her fair share of red carpets over the years, but she's hit her stride at 80.

The accomplished actress is best known for her role on Family Affair, the CBSsitcom that ran from 1966 to 1971. The series followed a wealthy bachelor as he raised his brother's orphaned children in New York City, and became a favorite with viewers. Garver was known for her role as the teenage Cissy. Of course, she also earned her acting chops in The Ten Commandments after being pulled from a role as an extra and written into the movie by director Cecil B. DeMille himself.

These days, Garver is doing better than ever. The beauty attended "This Joint Is Jumpin, Celebration Of Black Entertainers From Film, TV And Song Honoring Black History Month," at The Hollywood Museum this week, and looked every bit the glamour queen on the red carpet. With a chic white bob and red lips, it's safe to say this Hollywood staple is thriving.

Earning a Grammy Nomination

Garver is showing no signs of slowing down at 80. In fact, she recently earned her first Grammy nomination!

The Recording Academy recognized Garver in the Best Audio Book, Narration & Storytelling Recording category for her narration of Elvis, Rocky & Me: The Carol Connors Story, written by Carol Connors with Steve Bergsman, Parade previously reported. Unfortunately, she lost out to the Dalai Lama.

While she didn't take home the award, Garver kept a sense of humor and gratitude about the Grammy experience, and looked absolutely stunning as she worked the Grammy red carpet.

"I want to thank all my friends and family who cheered me on to win the Grammy nomination for the best audiobook, narration, storytelling, and recording 2026. Although the Dalai Lama, who was also nominated, edged me out with his lamentations, we all stood strong with the good grace of a job done well for Elvis Rocky and Me. I received that lovely gold medallion worn around my neck from Tiffany’s and the recording academy and my certificate is in mail. I love you all so much for taking your time your spirit and your empathy to be with me during the exciting process. I applaud you all and appreciate you! Thank you," she shared on Facebook.

Wuthering Heights Book, $5 at Five Below

Five Below

First published in 1847, Wuthering Heights is known for its dark mood, wild setting and unforgettable characters. The story follows Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff through a stormy relationship filled with love, jealousy and revenge. It is not your typical sweet romance. In fact, many readers say it feels intense and even shocking at times. Some people love it for its deep emotions and poetic language. Others find the characters messy and dramatic. Either way, it sparks strong feelings, which is part of why it has lasted for nearly 200 years.

The new movie has brought fresh attention to the story, and many viewers are curious to see how the book compares to the film. Reading the original novel lets you dive deeper into the characters' thoughts and motivations.

What makes this Five Below find such a smart buy is the unbelievable price. Classic novels can sometimes cost $10, $15 or even more at other retailers. Getting a copy for just $5 feels like an absolute steal. Whether you are a student, a movie buff or just someone who loves a good dramatic read, this is an easy add to your cart.

Only $5 for a piece of literary history? That's a deal worth grabbing before it disappears from shelves.

Eric Dane’s Childhood Tragedy Left Him With a Fear He Couldn’t Shake

Fri, 02/20/2026 - 8:21am

Long before fame and his ALS diagnosis, Eric Dane learned how suddenly a life could end when his father died at a young age — and years later, the Grey's Anatomy actor revealed he often worried history might repeat itself.

Dane died at 53 on Feb. 19. After receiving his diagnosis, he said he felt "angry" at the thought that his daughters might endure the same pain he experienced as a boy. "I'm angry because, you know, my father was taken from me when I was young," he told Good Morning America. "And now, you know, there's a very good chance I'm going to be taken from my girls while they're very young."

Dane’s father, a Vietnam veteran, died from what the family believed was either an accidental or self-inflicted gunshot wound when the actor was just 7 years old, a loss that haunted him especially once he became a father.

"When you don't have too many memories [of him] and I was 7 at the time and for a long time I sort of passed that off as when anybody would ask me what it was like to have your father die when you were 7 I'd say well I was young I don't remember much," Dane recounted to Huffington Post long before his diagnosis. "It was probably no big deal, and that was just me kind of dealing with it and coping that way. But I have two children of my own now. I have two daughters. I see how attached the 3-and-a-half-year-old and the 5-year-old are to me. They know me intimately, and they're aware of my existence."

Dane continued: "Looking back on myself at 7, I could only imagine how devastating that must have been for me, how really attached I was to him. So the old, 'I didn't know much about him' thing really didn't play anymore. And having and seeing that in my own children and the love they have for me, it just constantly makes me think, God, I must have been crushed."

King Charles’ Body Language Raises Eyebrows Amid Royal Turmoil: Expert

Fri, 02/20/2026 - 8:18am

Hours after the arrest of his brother Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, King Charles carried on with a public engagement that, according to a body language expert, revealed signs of tension amid royal turmoil.

The Daily Mail shared commentary from body language expert Judi James, who believes the king struggled after learning the news that Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested on charges of suspicion of misconduct in public office. She believes there were several telltale signs that Charles was under stress. His wife, Camilla Parker Bowles, also displayed similar signs in a separate scheduled public appearance on February 19, 2026.

James cited Charles' adjusting the button of his overcoat as he arrived at a London Fashion Week event suggested a "desire to self-protect and self-comfort." The monarch was attending a London Fashion Week event.

Camilla also appeared to fidget when arriving at an engagement at Sinfonia Smith Square Hall. James said she "mirrored" Charles by adjusting her coat's belt.

"Both rituals had no practical use, but they imply a desire to self-protect and self-comfort. For the royals, who can't greet the world with crossed or folded arms, these truncated rituals are a strong hint of inner anxieties," James told The Daily Mail.

The body language expert added that Charles appeared stressed during the scheduled event. "His lips were held into a rigid smile of resilience and stoicism as he was greeted by his host, but his brows were puckered in a steeple of anxiety, and his eye expression suggested sadness."

Before his engagement, Charles released a statement about his brother's arrest, as shared by the BBC. The king’s statement is reprinted in full below.

“I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office. What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities.”

The statement continued, “In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation. Let me state clearly: the law must take its course.”

It concluded, “As this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter. Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all. Charles R.”

King Charles has not shared any further remarks on Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's arrest. The New York Times reported that the former Duke of York was released from custody in the evening hours of February 19, his 66th birthday.

Patrick Stewart Said No—Then One Bottle of Wine Saved a 'Star Trek' TV Reunion

Fri, 02/20/2026 - 8:15am

Terry Matalas walked into Patrick Stewart’s home with a couple bottles of wine and a somewhat desperate pitch. It sounds like a setup to a joke, but it's actually how one of the best sci-fi reunions got put into motion.

On a recent episode of Katee Sackhoff’s podcast, the Star Trek: Picard showrunner revealed the moment he decided to ask Stewart to do the one thing the actor had publicly resisted: reunite the entire Star Trek: The Next Generation cast for Picard’s final season.

The answer from the studio had already been clear. If he wanted it, he’d have to get Stewart on board.

'Look, if you can convince Patrick, then we’ll consider this,' Matalas recalled being told.

That was no small task. When Picard was first conceived, Stewart had made his intentions clear. 'I don’t want to be sitting in a captain’s chair and in a Starfleet uniform and doing the thing,' Matalas said, summarizing Stewart’s stance. The actor wanted 'something very, very different, more personal story.'

By the time Season 3 started taking shape, Matalas knew exactly what he wanted to see. 'I want to bring back the cast of Star Trek: Next Generation,' he said he told producers.

Related: As 'Star Trek' Nears 60, Showrunners Say It Must 'Bring Something Back'—Here’s What They Mean

So he sat down with Stewart. 'I brought him one or two bottles of wine,' he said. The timing also helped. Jonathan Frakes and Marina Sirtis had already appeared in earlier seasons. Those returns had sparked something in Stewart. Matalas recalled Stewart admitting, 'one by one I’d like to have them all eventually.'

Matalas pushed. 'What if that was this season?'

He laid out a plan quickly, including one big swing: reintroducing the Enterprise as the final returning character. 'The Enterprise is as much a legacy character as anybody else,' he said he told Stewart, describing a reveal that would unfold through a museum setting before the full reunion.

By the end of the conversation, and about a bottle and a half in, Stewart gave him the answer he needed. 'Yeah, let’s do it. Let’s do it.'

'I raced out of his house,' Matalas said. 'It was like I had stolen a suitcase of money… He said yes. We’re going to do it.'

The phone calls that followed were just as emotional. When he told LeVar Burton they were bringing back the Enterprise, 'he started to cry and I started to cry,' Matalas said.

But the reunion couldn't be just fan service. Directing the Enterprise bridge episode carried a lot of weight. 'If I screw up this moment, I’ve ruined it for legions of fans, including myself,' he said. 'This is the last time possibly that we’ll ever see these characters.'

The schedule was brutal. '18-hour days… eating dinner at midnight,' he said. And he admitted he promised himself he would 'never go that hard again.'

All that work left an impression. 'That cast is a family,' he said. Holiday invitations, group texts, and he even found himself included. 'I was part of the family and didn’t know that.'

The reunion almost didn’t happen. It took persistence, timing, and enough wine to change Patrick Stewart’s mind to actually 'make it so.'

Jennifer Garner Says Alias ‘Leveled Me Up’ — And Reveals the Iconic Roles She’d Love to Revisit (Exclusive)

Fri, 02/20/2026 - 8:02am

This year marks 25 years since Alias first premiered. Jennifer Garner rose to fame playing double agent Sydney Bristow in the spy series created by J.J. Abrams, which ran for five seasons from 2001 to 2006. The ABC show was a learning experience that admittedly made the Golden Globe-winning actress "level up" in every way.

"Alias taught me so much. It was like acting boot camp," Garner tells Parade in an exclusive interview. "I learned how much I could handle in a scene. I learned I could handle props and fight and another language and all of these things and camera angles. All at the same time."

"And I just had to," she adds. "I had to level up in every possible way."

Garner's French from Alias proved useful for the second season of Apple TV's The Last This He Told Me. "Another language comes in really handy because I speak a lot of French this season, and I don't speak French, which anyone who does who watches this season will know very quickly," she points out. "But, I do know how to work really hard and learn my lines in another language and for that, I'm grateful."

22 years since 13 Going on 30

The new season of The Last This He Told Me reunited Garner with her former 13 Going on 30 co-star Judy Greer. It's been over 20 years since their beloved rom-com was released, a movie that Garner describes as "seminal" for the two of them.

"It was a big time in both of our lives, but it also just took on this life of its own, like we're now on like a third generation of people who love this movie and that's really fun. I don't think a day goes by that someone doesn't ask me about it," Greer tells Parade.

Garner adds, "But making it itself was so special, and something that really Judy, Mark [Ruffalo] and I, whenever we run into each other, we loved our director [Gary Winick] so much, and, yeah, a lot of special memories."

From dancing to "Thriller" to starring in a thriller series

The friends are "always" looking to work together, and have done so five times to date, Garner notes. They're now back together onscreen in Season 2 of The Last Thing He ToldMe, produced by 20th Television and Reese Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine.

"I just wanted to be in it from the second I read the first book because [Garner] told me she was doing it, Season 1. She was doing this mini series, it was based on a book," Greer recalls. "So I immediately read the book because I like to keep tabs on her and see what she's doing. And I loved it. And then I loved the first season, so I was really excited. It really didn't take much convincing, to be honest."

Originally billed as a limited series when it debuted in April 2023, The Last Thing He ToldMe was renewed two years before the release of Laura Dave's sequel novel, The First Time I Saw Him, which Season 2 is based on.

'The Last Thing He Told Me' streams on Apple TV. Reprising roles

Another season meant another opportunity for Garner to reprise her role as Hannah Hall in the Apple TV series. It's the latest character Garner has been able to revisit. The Alias alum returned as Elektra in 2024's Deadpool & Wolverine.

As for whether there is another role she's itching to play again? "All of them, really," Garner answers. "I love characters I've played before. I would love to revisit any of them. I really hope I get to play Hannah again."

Musing about a potential third season of The Last Thing He ToldMe, Garner jokes, "Maybe I would beat this one [Greer] up," to which Greer responds, "I would totally be beaten up by Hannah at the end of that."

Season 2 of The Last Thing He ToldMe premiered Feb. 20 on Apple TV. One new episode will be released every Friday through April 10.

The 11 Mascaras That Actually Lengthen Lashes, Tested by Pro Makeup Artists

Fri, 02/20/2026 - 7:55am

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

If you're seeking a long-lasting solution to short lashes, extensions are always an option, but lengthening mascaras are typically the easiest way to fake it. With that in mind, Parade consulted a few makeup pros to better understand what the popular product is capable of and get a list of the best lengthening mascaras for 2026.

In your trips down the beauty aisle, you've likely encountered several varieties of mascara ranging from waterproof and curling to volumizing and tubing. They all have their own unique superpowers, and it's always a good idea to keep a few varieties on hand. But we're particularly curious about lengthening mascaras, so we tapped the expertise of Catrina Breitweisera pro makeup artist with over 20 years of experience and the founder of Makeup by Catrina and MBC Cosmetics. We also chatted with Phillip Silvas, a makeup artist for Glamsquad, a company that provides on-demand, in-home makeup, hair and nail services.

Without further ado, here's everything you need to know about lengthening mascaras.

Top Lengthening Mascaras How Do Lengthening Mascaras Work?

Before we get into the best lengthening mascaras, it's important to understand how the product actually works its magic.

"Lengthening mascaras use lightweight fibers and film-forming polymers to extend each lash from root to tip, creating definition and visible length without added bulk or clumping," Breitweiser tells Parade.

Silvas adds that lengthening mascaras create the illusion of long lashes without "looking dense and thick."

"Most lengthening mascaras have fibers to coat the hairs for an extension look. It’s a more natural approach for your lashes with minimal to buildable volume," he says.

Best Way To Remove Lengthening Mascara

When the day is done and you just want to jump in bed and relax, you might be wondering if there's a special way to remove lengthening mascara. Silvas suggests giving micellar water a try.

"Take a cotton round and pour a generous amount. Close your eyes, soak the cotton round on your eye and press gently down to remove. Also soak your fingertips while looking down and emulsify your lashes with micellar water. Grab a cotton round to wipe it away. This is the safest way to remove mascara without the tugging from a makeup wipe," he says.

Adorable Video Of Eric Dane And His Daughter Goes Viral Following His Death

Fri, 02/20/2026 - 7:53am

Grey's Anatomy star Eric Danedied on February 19, 10 months after announcing his ALS diagnosis, and an old video of Dane playing with one of his daughters when she was younger has now gone viral on TikTok.

Dane had two daughters, Billie and Georgia, who are now 15 years old and 13 years old, respectively. This video, which was taken when the girls were much younger, shows Dane encouraging his daughter to jump to him and reassuring her, "I'll catch you."

♬ original sound - Eric Dane

The video was actually posted a month before Dane's death, on January 17, but it has begun making the rounds once again following the actor's passing and currently sits at just under two million views. The comments are flooded with messages now referencing his recent death.

One commenter wrote, "may he rest in peace🕊️" and another, more emotional comment reads, "THIS IS NOT THE TIME TO SEE THIS OMG💔." Another comment says, "It 5 o’clock in Seattle," a reference to the episode of Grey's Anatomy in which Dane's character, Mark Sloan, or "McSteamy," dies.

The creator who posted the video also wrote in the comments since Dane's death, asking whether, as a fan page, it would be right to continue with the account. Many of the comments encouraged the creator to keeping going, saying things like, "yes Eric will live on" and "Of course! Keep his memory alive. Him and family would love that ❤️."

Unsurprisingly, social media is currently flooded with tributes to and edits of Dane in his various roles or walking the red carpet. Tributes have come in not only from fans but from major news outlets and Dane's fellow stars as well, including Alyssa Milano, Dane's Charmed co-star, and Patrick Dempsey, who played best friend to McSteamy in Grey's Anatomy, Derek Shepherd/"McDreamy."

With the news of Dane's passing coming later in the evening (EST) on February 19, there's little doubt that more tributes from Dane's many co-stars will continue being shared in the coming days.

67 Years Ago Today, Rock’s 'Greatest Guitarist' Took the Stage for the First Time

Fri, 02/20/2026 - 7:23am

On February 20, 1959, a 16-year-old named Johnny Allen Hendrix played his first live gig in the basement of Seattle's Temple De Hirsch Sinai synagogue. He didn't make it to the second set.

The musician who would become Jimi Hendrix was apparently too much for the time. His wild playing and show-off style (dropping to his knees, sticking out his tongue, flailing his arms) got him fired before the second set. According to biographer Charles R. Cross, Hendrix's then-girlfriend Carmen Goudylater recalled that during the performance, 'he did all this wild playing, and when the spotlight was on him, he played even wilder.' When she suggested he tone it down, Hendrix refused: 'That's not my style,' he insisted. 'I don't do that.'

It was a line he would repeat many times before the world caught up with him.

Born November 27, 1942 in Seattle, Hendrix grew up in poverty. His obsession with the guitar was obvious from an early age. He played imaginary guitar on a broom so often that a social worker told his father it might cause him 'psychological damage' not to have a real one. He had a revelation in 1957 when he saw Elvis Presley perform at Sick's Stadium. Lacking the $1.50 for even a nosebleed ticket, he watched from the top of a nearby hill, and even from that distance, Presley's flamboyance memorized the 14-year-old. At 15, he procured his first electric guitar: a $5 Supro Ozark. He'd been playing seriously for only about a year when the Temple De Hirsch gig happened.

Related: 60 Years Ago Today: The Recording Session That 'Rewrote the Rules' of Pop

His early career was a long string of sideman work. He backed Little Richard, the Isley Brothers, and others, repeatedly overshadowing the acts that hired him. He enlisted in the Army and was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division, receiving an honorable discharge within a year. He then ground out years on the 'chitlin' circuit', developing technique with very little recognition.

A lucky run-in with Linda Keith (girlfriend of Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards) changed everything. Keith introduced Hendrix to Chas Chandler, who wasted no time asking him to come to London. There, Hendrix formed the Jimi Hendrix Experience with drummer Mitch Mitchell and bassist Noel Redding. The band's 1967 debut, Are You Experienced, exploded rock norms. Hendrix played a right-handed Stratocaster upside-down and left-handed, pulling crazy feedback and distortion from the instrument. His performance at the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival made him a star overnight, mostly because of the same wild playing that had gotten him fired from a synagogue basement eight years earlier.

Rolling Stone critic David Fricke, who compiled the magazine's landmark list of the 100 greatest guitarists, put it plainly: Jimi Hendrix was Number One in every way; the other 99 were all Number Two.'

He released three studio albums before his death on September 18, 1970 in London, at 27. The band that fired him at Temple De Hirsch has never been identified. Their names are gone. Jimmi's live on.

Are Pedro Pascal and Rafael Olarra Dating? Here’s What’s Confirmed

Fri, 02/20/2026 - 7:05am

Pedro Pascal and Rafael Olarra spent Valentine’s weekend strolling New York City, going to the movies, and grabbing some grub.

According to TMZ, which was first to share paparazzi photos of the Last of Us actor and the Faena Hotels creative director, the two were spotted walking around NYC’s Lower East Side before they “got cozy” in a movie theater to watch Wuthering Heights, Emerald Fennell’s glossy Gothic rendition of Emily Brontë’s 10th-century novel, starring Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie. Just Jared snapped the pair signing autographs and taking pics with fans the following evening.

View this post on Instagram

Olarra, 42, an openly gay man, was born in Argentina and studied at the Universidad del Cine in Buenos Aires, per Queerty. He was last linked to actor/singer Luke Evans (Nine Perfect Strangers). The two went Instagram official in February 2020, per People, then announced their breakup in 2021 after a year together, per Out magazine.

Pascal, 50, maintains a more private personal life, keeping his sexuality and romance endeavors under wraps. Per Queerty, the Chilean-born actor is a staunch LGBTQ+ ally. Earlier this month, Pascal was onstage with Carol G, Cardi B, and Jessica Alba, jamming to Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Halftime Show.

So, the question on everyone’s lips: Are the two dating? Neither Pascal nor Olarra has confirmed or denied anything, allowing the rumor mill to mill. What is confirmed, however, is that two very handsome, very well-dressed men went sightseeing in the Big Apple, enjoyed an apropos holiday movie -- at the theater (props for that!) -- and drew a lot of attention while doing it.

1976 No. 1 Hit Soft Rock Song Got Its Title in a Truly Unexpected Way

Fri, 02/20/2026 - 7:02am

In 1976, the Starland Vocal Band topped the charts with the one-off hit “Afternoon Delight.” The "skyrockets"-fueled soft pop-rock song hit No. 1 on theBillboard Hot 100 on July 10, 1976, just in time for the Bicentennial, and remained in the top spot for two weeks. It charted on Billboard’s Hot 100 for 20.

The Starland Vocal Band quartet featured couples Bill Danoff and "Taffy" Nivert and Jon Carroll and Margot Chapman. Their song "Afternoon Delight" was filled with double entendres hinting at a midday rendezvous, but in reality, it was inspired in an innocent way—from a restaurant menu.

According to GQ, Danoff was dining at a Georgetown, Washington D.C. restaurant, when he spotted a happy hour menu called “Afternoon Delights.” He felt the words on the menu made a good song title, and he wrote the future hit “while imagining how it would sound with four voices.”

In September 1976, Rolling Stone noted that Nivert explained, "Bill wrote this after having lunch at Clyde's in Washington, D.C. It seems Clyde's has a menu called 'Afternoon Delight' with stuff like spiced shrimp and hot Brie with almonds. So Bill ate it — the food, that is— and went home and explained to me what 'Afternoon Delight' should be."

“Afternoon Delight” won the Starland Vocal Band two Grammy Awards, one for Best New Artist and one for Best Arrangement For Voices (Duo, Group Or Chorus).

The all-American couples also scored a CBS summer replacement variety show. “The fact that we were clean-cut and didn’t look like the Grateful Dead, CBS thought that was good. But we didn’t want it,” Danoff told GQ of the short-lived series.

The Starland Vocal Band broke up in 1981, and both couples divorced.

Danoff wanted to write a ‘fun’ song

In an interview with The Los Angeles Times, Danoff revealed that he “didn’t want to write an all-out sex song when he penned “Afternoon Delight.”

“I just wanted to write something that was fun and hinted at sex,” he explained to the outlet, per American Songwriter. “It was one of those songs that you could really have a good time writing. If the song had been banned, it would have been a real injustice. The lyrics are subtle and sophisticated and not at all raunchy. It might have been banned years ago, but not today.”

RELATED: ‘70s Teen Idol Opens Up About Carrying the Torch for His Legendary Family

Starland Vocal Band member Jon Carroll once addressed “Afternoon Delight’s" reputation as a cheesy sex song.

“I'm as proud of ‘Afternoon Delight’ as if I'd had to live it down,” he told Songfacts in a 2018 interview. “I'm very proud of it, and all the folks who love that record love it up and down. I'm so happy that it is the one that was a hit because it was always fun to sing it. We never got tired of singing 'Afternoon Delight.'"

"But 'Afternoon Delight' is not the kind of record for someone who wants to be perceived as a bad-a-- rock and roller," he admitted. "It's not cool to like that record, right? I was 18 when we recorded it, and it came out and I couldn't believe that they chose it as a single.’”

Of the song’s longevity, the Starland Vocal Band keyboardist and guitarist added, “They're still playing ‘Afternoon Delight’ but they're not playing ‘Moonlight Feels Right’ [by the band Starbuck]. I don't mean to deride anybody's record because I love ‘Moonlight Feels Right.’"

Before Eric Dane’s Death, Rebecca Gayheart Said She Was Focused on One Thing for Their Daughters

Fri, 02/20/2026 - 7:01am

Before Eric Dane’s death, his wife Rebecca Gayheart made one thing clear about what she wanted their two daughters to carry through his illness: peace.

Speaking on Broad Ideas with Rachel Bilson and Olivia Allen in November 2025, Gayheart, 54, reflected on the values she hoped to model for Billie, 15, and Georgia, 13, as their father battled ALS. “We show up for people no matter what. He is our family. He is your father,” she said. “We will get through it the best we can.”

Though she described the situation as “super complicated”—she and the Grey’s Anatomy star had been separated for eight years—Gayheart said her focus wasn’t on perfection. “I don’t know if I’m doing it well or if I’m doing it the wrong way or the right way,” she admitted. “I’m just showing up and trying to be there for them. I guess time will tell.”

More than anything, she said she wanted to protect her daughters from future regret. Gayheart explained that she worked to make sure the girls had opportunities to spend time with their dad, so they would never look back and think they missed out on time with him.

READ MORE: Eric Dane’s Wife Rebecca Gayheart Withdrew Divorce Filing After His ALS Diagnosis  — Here’s Why

“I just want to make sure I provide them with the opportunity to spend time with him so that they don’t ever look back and go, ‘I wish I would have spent some time with my dad’ or ‘I wish I would have, you know, said this to him or ask him these questions or been there,’” Gayheart confessed.

She also shared a personal gauge that guided her decisions: when her “head hits the pillow,” could she live with how she handled things? That nightly question, she said, helped her navigate what she called an “uncharted” chapter.

Gayheart and Dane married in 2004, and she filed for divorce in 2018 after 13 years of marriage. But after Dane publicly revealed his ALS diagnosis in April 2025, she withdrew the petition, later explaining that the decision was rooted in family.

Dane passed away on Thursday, February 19 just 10 months after revealing his devastating diagnosis with the world. “With heavy hearts, we share that Eric Dane passed on Thursday afternoon following a courageous battle with ALS,” his rep revealed in a statement to Parade. “He spent his final days surrounded by dear friends, his devoted wife, and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world.”

Dane was 53 years old.

Taylor Swift is the Secret Weapon Behind Students’ Good Grades

Fri, 02/20/2026 - 7:00am

There’s a new kind of school supply making the rounds on students’ study playlists. It’s pop music, led by none other than Taylor Swift.

According to a recent survey of more than 1,000 parents, Swift, 36, tops the list as the most popular artist kids listen to while studying, outranking other major names like Morgan Wallen and Drake. Parents also report that students who regularly study with music tend to perform better academically, especially when tunes help reduce stress and make the work feel less intimidating.

So why do students turn to music like Swift’s during homework time? Research suggests that music can play a real role in shaping the study experience. A majority of parents in the same survey said music helped their children focus longer, stay motivated, and feel calmer while tackling assignments. Pop music (the genre Swift represents) was the most commonly cited choice, followed by rock and hip‑hop.

Studies on the effects of background music also point to a mood‑boosting benefit: when students feel less anxious, they’re more likely to settle into their work and stick with it. Music can act as a sort of emotional buffer, making long study sessions feel less stressful and more manageable.

Of course, not all music affects every student the same way. Some learners prefer instrumental or lo‑fi tracks to help with focus, while others might find lyrics distracting. But Swift’s popularity across all grade levels suggests there’s something about her sound that resonates with students, whether it’s the familiarity, the comforting vocals, or simply the fact that research shows enjoying the music you choose can make study time feel just a little easier.

So if you find the kids, grandkids, or even yourself cracking open a textbook, put Swift on in the background to see if she helps you power through!

Cindy Crawford Gets 'Riled Up' When People Say This About Her Daughter

Fri, 02/20/2026 - 7:00am

Cindy Crawford has graced hundreds of magazine covers and walked for top designers like Gianni Versace, Dolce & Gabbana and Ralph Lauren. But she’s not just an iconic supermodel. She’s also a role model to her two kids.

"The greatest thing about having kids is you just...instantly know your priorities," Crawford said on Today. "You know it's always family first."

She went on to recall a time when, as a small child, her son was asked what his parents did for work. “[He] told [his] preschool teachers that I didn't work,” she shared. “And I was like, wow, that means I'm doing a great job, because he doesn't feel my absence so much.”

Keep reading to learn more about Crawford’s kids, how they’re following in her footsteps and why her firstborn got a shocking face tattoo.

How many biological children does Cindy Crawford have?

The runway legend is mom to son Presley, 26, and daughter Kaia, 24, both of whom have pursued modeling careers of their own.

“Kids don’t always listen, but they are always watching what you do,” she told Town & Country when asked how she taught her kids to care about more than external beauty. “If you’re polite to people, they learn to be polite. If you make family time a priority, they don’t even question spending time together. If I’m constantly berating myself in front of them — I look old, I have more wrinkles every year, I can’t have that dessert because I’ll get fat — then they learn to do the same thing. You lead by example.”

Crawford shares her children with former model and entrepreneur Rande Gerber, whom she met in the early 1990s at an agent’s wedding. Their relationship didn’t turn romantic until several years later, after she divorced her first husband, actor Richard Gere. She and Gerber tied the knot in May 1998.

"I wore John Galliano off the rack because the wedding was supposed to be secret,” she told Harper’s Bazaar. “We married in the Bahamas in front of our friends and family and it was so special — it was different for my second wedding. We walked each other down the aisle."

They welcomed their first child, son Presley, a year later.

Celebrating Father’s Day in 2024, Crawford wrote on Instagram, “Watching your devotion to our children has been one of the great joys of my life! I don’t know what any of us would do without you. Thanks for taking such great care of your family — we love you.”

Presley Walker Gerber (b. July 2, 1999)

Crawford and Gerber welcomed son Presley on July 2, 1999. Following in his parents’ footsteps, he walked his first runway in 2016, when he was just 16 years old, for the luxury fashion brand Moschino. He went on to work for labels including Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger.

Presley has also been candid about his mental health struggles, which caused a tabloid frenzy in 2020 when he got a face tattoo that reads “misunderstood.”

"If I thought this was going to ruin my face or I didn't want this, I wouldn't have done it. I think that's a pretty obvious thing," he said on Instagram Live. "So, can you just move past that?" He later added, "It says 'misunderstood' because that's how I felt my entire life." He’s since had the tattoo removed.

“Presley is obviously going through a super rebellious phase right now,” a source told Us Weekly at the time. “He is trying to get out of the shadow of his family and find his own way and create his own identity.”

These days, Presley runs a weekly “Mental Health Mondays” series on his Instagram, discussing various mental health treatments, issues and more.

Marking her son’s 26th birthday, Crawford wrote on Instagram, “Wow—where does the time go? I am so proud of the man you are becoming but you will always be my little golden boy! Love creating new memories with you and look forward to seeing what’s next!”

Presley regularly gushes over his parents and sister, too. Honoring his mother on her birthday in 2024, he wrote. “Mom. Thank you. Thank you for all of the amazing support and love you have showed me. Thank you for being a role model. You are one of my greatest inspirations. From relationships to work you have taught me so much. I am grateful for you every day. I have infinite love for you.”

Kaia Gerber (b. Sept. 3, 2001)

Gerber, her mother’s mini-me, joined the family in 2001 and went on to become a hugely successful model, walking for Chanel, Saint Laurent, Prada and more.

“For me [modeling] wasn’t a foreign world to go into and I felt like I understood it,” Kaia told Vogue of how being Cindy Crawford’s daughter shaped her modeling experience. “I knew what I was kind of getting into. I’d been around it a lot … So for me it was, it was definitely less scary to go into. I have so much appreciation for women like my mom and for the other girls who come who don’t know anything.”

In addition to modeling, Kaia is an actress whose credits include Bottoms, Palm Royale and Overcompensating

She also makes headlines for her personal life: She’s currently dating fellow nepo baby Lewis Pullman and was previously linked to Pete Davidson, Jacob Elordi and Austin Butler.

Is Kaia Gerber the Gerber baby?

No. Although Kaia Gerber is a model, she is not the famous Gerber baby. That would be Ann Turner Cook, who died in 2022 at the age of 95.

What has happened to Cindy Crawford's son?

In 2019, at the age of 19, Presley was charged with a DUI and released without bail. "Presley Gerber takes this very seriously and is taking the necessary steps to address the allegations," his lawyer said in a statement (via TMZ). The incident seemed to be a turning point for Presley, who got a face tattoo that read “misunderstood” the following year.

“Presley feels like there’s a lot of pressure on him because his parents and Kaia are so successful, and Kaia is thought of as a ‘sweetheart’ and Cindy and Rande have such respected reputations in everything they do,” a source told Us Weekly. “He wants to do his own thing and find his own place in the world.”

He’s since tended to his mental health and is using his platform to help others who might be wrestling with demons of their own.

"Having struggled with mental health, depression and some other things that come along with that, I think that whether I help one person or a hundred people get out of that place that I was in at one point in my life, that's all I need to do," he said on the Studio 22 podcast.

"[Mental health] is an issue. It is such a big part of my life. It's a 24/7 job, and there's so much to it," he said. "That's really what I want to do: help people, whether you're depressed, you're struggling with something that is having a negative effect on your body. I mean it could be anything, and there's no judgment."

Is Kaia Gerber a nepo baby?

Yes, as Cindy Crawford's daughter, she is a nepo baby. But don't let her mom hear you say that.

“It was easier for Kaia to get a meeting or an appointment, but in the fashion industry, if you don’t have the right look, Vogue is not going to use you,” she told the outlet. “It doesn’t matter. It bothers me more than it bothers Kaia when people say, ’Oh, her mom bought her a career.’ Even if I wanted to, it would not be possible; there is no way that Karl Lagerfeld or Anna Wintour or Vogue...that is not how the industry works. …She is comfortable in front of a camera, she works hard, and for that to be dismissed riles me up. Time will tell the truth.”

Des Awosefo, a personal style strategist and content creator with over 122,000 followers on TikTok and 86,000 followers on Instagram, agreed that capsule wardrobes reduce the stress of deciding what to wear rather than having a plethora of options to choose from. “Its true beauty lies in the way it makes you look more put together and intentional, while owning less,” Awosefo said.

Here are a few helpful tips that experts suggest when picking out pieces for your capsule wardrobe:

  • “For color palette, stick to solid neutrals. Black, brown, navy, white, beige, gray, and olive,” Mensch said.
  • She also added, “The test for whether a piece belongs is straightforward: could it sit next to anything else in your closet and not clash?”
  • Awesefo says that there isn’t a specific guideline for the number of clothing items, shoes, and accessories. “The key to a successful capsule is less about the exact number of items you own, but more about the extent to which it's aligned with your actual life and tastes,” she explained.

If you’re ready to start curating a capsule wardrobe, read on for 15 specific pieces that experts believe are essential. We’ve rounded up some styles below from various fan-favorite retailers, and they just start at $7.

Medium or Dark Wash Jeans

According to Mensch, a good rule of thumb is to start with the bottom and work your way up. “They set the tone for everything layered on top,” she explained. “Straight-leg jeans in a medium or dark wash are the foundation.”

A classic and timeless piece, straight-leg jeans in a darker hue are the foundation for any casual outfit. Mensch said, “They go with every color. Not most colors. Every color.” She added that you can opt for any waist height, whether it be high-rise, mid-rise, or low-rise. Anything that feels right for your body.

Dianne Boyer, a certified personal stylist and owner of Dianne In Style, said that “the key thing is to build a capsule wardrobe that works for where you are today.”

Depending on your lifestyle and occupation, there may be occasions when jeans simply aren’t a fit. If you work in an office where you need dressier attire, Mensch said that “wide-leg trousers give you a dressier lane when jeans won't cut it,” and “tailored pants handle workdays.”

Lee Ultra Lux Comfort Trouser Pants, From $17 (was $43) at Amazon Jwd High-Waist Wide-Leg Trousers, $20 (was $29) at Walmart Max Studio Ponte High-Waist Wide-Leg Pants, $30 (was $118) at Nordstrom Rack Midi A-Line Skirt

For the warmer months, you may want to include a skirt in your daily rotation, and Mensch noted that an A-line shirt is the “safest entry point” as it’s a silhouette that complements everyone.

Now that we’ve completed the bottoms, it’s time to decide which tops belong in your curated collection. Mensch said that most tops should be a light neutral tone. Her first color choice is white, followed by oatmeal and beige. The tops in your closet will vary depending on season, and Mensch stressed the importance of fabric weight and sleeve length.

“Every piece here earns its spot by playing well with everything else, which means nothing too specific in cut or color. Neutral, clean, done,” she said.

White Crewneck Tee

Boyer and Mensch both agree that a capsule wardrobe should include a white crewneck T-shirt. Boyer explained why the pieces she deemed to be necessary capsule wardrobe items are essential. “They can give you an all-around polished look and are always in style,” she said. A classic plain white tee is no exception.

Mensch included a long-sleeve tee as an essential. It’s ideal for chilly months and transitioning weather, as it can either be worn alone or layered under bulkier pieces.

For the sweltering summer months, a tank or cami is a must-have. When choosing one that you’ll wear on repeat, Mensch suggested one made of silk or satin. “They always make any outfit more expensive and transition from your office (layered under a blazer) straight to dinner without a change,” she explained.

According to Mensch, you should have two sweaters in your wardrobe that don’t feel interchangeable. These sweaters should be of different textures and necklines — one fitted crewneck and one with more volume. “They should feel like entirely separate garments when you put them on,” she said.

Boyer noted that a sweater made from cashmere is a good option. It’s a high-quality fabric that’s about three times warmer than wool while still being breathable and lightweight.

“A blazer that fits properly does more heavy lifting than almost any other single piece,” Mensch explained. It’s a piece that can elevate nearly any outfit and make any look feel polished and intentional. Mensch advises avoiding one that’s oversized, too structured, or double-breasted, and rather look for a blazer that’s clean through the shoulders.

All you need is one casual jacket. When choosing which jacket belongs in your capsule wardrobe, you aren’t limited to a specific style. Depending on your preference, you could go for a leather jacket, barn coat, a leather jacket, bomber jacket, or denim jacket.

“The real question is which one you'd throw on for a Saturday errand run without a second thought-that's your jacket," Mensch said. "If it's going to live on the hanger untouched, skip it and spend that money on something you'd grab weekly.”

Of course, you’re not limited to just a jacket. When winter rolls around, you’ll need something thicker and heavier to keep you warm. Both Boyer and Mensch noted that a classic wool coat is the way to go. Warm, timeless, and classy, it’s a must-have winter layer.

Moving on to footwear, there isn’t a set number of pairs that you should own. However, you should be selective and curate the shoes in your collection that are tailored to your lifestyle.

Flats

Dressier than sneakers but more comfortable than pumps, flats are a must-have for anyone always on the move and likes to dress to impress. While there are so many different types to choose from, Mensch suggested going with a pointed-toe silhouette. “They sharpen the whole look and make legs appear longer,” she said.

Of course, this all depends on style preference. You can also opt for a pair of round-toe or square-toe flats — whatever feels most comfortable for you.

The cold-weather shoe. Mensch said that you should own boots in two shaft heights: knee-high and ankle. Heel height and type don’t matter as much. When deciding, choose “whatever heel situation lets you forget about your feet by hour three,” she said. You can go for flat, block, or kitten heels.

You can’t go wrong with a pair of white sneakers. They’re all-around shoes that are classic, versatile, and comfortable. Mensch noted that a clean pair of white sneakers balances out your closet for casual days.

While many consider collecting purses to be a hobby, you really only need two: a tote bag and a shoulder bag. “Two bags handle pretty much every scenario,” Mensch explained.

Tote Bag

For convenience, a tote bag or structured satchel is the ideal choice, especially when you need something roomy.

When you’re traveling lighter, Mensch suggested carrying a smaller crossbody or shoulder bag. She especially recommended a crossbody. “Hands-free is just objectively better when you're navigating the world,” she said.
