What Was the No. 1 Song on February 20, 1974?

Fri, 02/20/2026 - 5:33am

Memories…

When Barbra Streisandknocked Ringo Starr's "You're Sixteen" off the top of the Billboard Hot 100 on February 2, 1974, she finally achieved something that had eluded her for over a decade in the music business—a number one hit. "The Way We Were," the achingly beautiful ballad from her romantic drama of the same name, claimed the top spot and held strong through February 20, 1974, nestled between Love Unlimited Orchestra's "Love's Theme" and Terry Jacks' "Seasons in the Sun." The song would spend three weeks total at number one that year and went on to become Billboard's top single of 1974.

"The Way We Were" was an instant hit when it was released on Feb. 20, 1974.

What made this particular ballad resonate so deeply with audiences? Well, for starters, it served as the love theme for one of the year's biggest movies—a sweeping romantic drama (some say melodrama, meant in the deragotory sense!) directed by Sydney Pollack that paired Streisand with a swoon-worthy Robert Redford. The film told the bittersweet story of Katie Morosky, a passionate Jewish political activist, and Hubbell Gardiner, an easygoing WASP writer. The two meet in college during the 1930s, reconnect after World War II and fall into an intense romance despite being complete opposites. Their relationship unfolds against the backdrop of Hollywood's Red Scare and the blacklist era, with their fundamental differences ultimately proving too much to overcome. It's both hearthbreaking and a lil' cheesy.

The role of Katie was written specifically for Streisand by playwright Arthur Laurents, who adapted his own 1972 novel for the screenplay. Getting Redford on board proved more difficult—he turned down the role twice before finally agreeing, and Streisand later credited his initial reluctance with ultimately making the character more interesting. But enough about the movie—we're here for the music!

All About the Making of the The Way We Were

The song (written by Alan Bergman, Marilyn Bergman and Marvin Hamlisch)  was developed specifically with Streisand in mind. “You are tailor-making a song for an artist,” said composer Hamlisch. “And if it's Barbra Streisand it has to fit her until she's comfortable.”

The singer also had some say in the song itself, too. Hamlisch originally wrote the lyrics beginning with "Daydreams light the corners of your mind," but Streisand made a suggestion: change it to "Memories."

Recording the track wasn't easy either. Legendary session bassist Carol Kaye, who played on the song, said the richly orchestrated number required 33 takes to get right. Yes, 33. Streisand recorded it live with a full string section and members of the Wrecking Crew backing her up on September 12, 1973. Producer Marty Paich worked through the night—four hours of recording followed by four hours of mixing!—to complete what he knew would be a hit.

The song almost didn't make it into the film at all. According to Hamlisch, "The Way We Were" was cut from the original version of the movie. But after a disappointing screen test, he lobbied hard to rescore the final scene with the ballad. When audiences saw the finished film with the song included, they wept. The song stayed.

The Way We Were Became a Cultural Phenomenon

The accolades poured in. Hamlisch and the Bergmans won the Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 46th Academy Awards.

For Streisand, the song marked a pivotal moment in her career. She'd been a star since her Broadway debut at age 19 and had conquered stage, screen and albums—but a number one pop hit had remained elusive. "The Way We Were" changed that, selling over two million copies and earning platinum certification. The album of the same name, hastily assembled by producer Tommy LiPuma to capitalize on the single's success, also hit number one.

So on February 20, 1974, when you turned on the radio, you were hearing Barbra Streisand at the absolute peak of her powers, delivering a performance that would define her career and become a permanent part of the American songbook.

Kelly Ripa Hints at Leaving 'Live with Kelly and Mark'

Fri, 02/20/2026 - 5:25am

Kelly Ripa is speaking candidly about how long she plans to remain on Live with Kelly and Mark.

In an interview with Decider, Ripa opened up about the hosting role she has held for 25 years, as well as her future on the show. She reflected on the series' longevity and hinted at how much longer viewers can expect to see her behind the desk.

"I always say this job and this place is so special, that I really do believe in this show as a franchise. It’s a franchise show," she began.

"Before me, there was Regis [Philbin] and Kathie Lee [Gifford]. And before Kathie Lee, there was Regis and a myriad of other hosts."

Ripa continued, "I believe this show will continue on for as long as linear television exists. I believe that there are too many talented people out there that really deserve the opportunity to find their own audience and grow the audience the way they see fit. Because I don’t intend to work for the rest of my life. I really do not."

"I think we’ll all make that decision when the time comes. I think there’s a way to sort of get new people on board and have them test co-hosts, and get the audience used to other people. I think it’s important. I love this show too much to see it sort of ever end with us," Ripa concluded.

Ripa first auditioned for the role in 2001 after then-host Philbin invited her to test as a potential replacement for Gifford. During her episode, Los Angeles-based psychic Char Margolis made a statement that likely cemented Ripa's future with the series, as reported by the Toronto Sun.

https://www.youtube.com/live/i4eAB4_2NkI

During the segment, Margolis shared messages about Ripa’s late grandmother and spoke about the matriarch’s continued presence over the family. The emotional moment deepened when Margolis added that the grandmother would also be watching over Ripa’s soon-to-arrive baby.

"It's soon, it's not far away," the psychic said. "You're not pregnant yet, are you?"

"Excuse me," Philbin asked. "Are you expecting?"

Ripa started to laugh nervously before admitting, "I haven't told my boss yet," about her second pregnancy with daughter Lola Consuelos. At the time, she was working on the daytime soap opera All My Children and was already a mother to Michael with husband Mark Consuelos, and the couple would later welcome a son, Joaquin.

However long Kelly Ripa remains at the helm of Live, she says she’s committed to delivering the upbeat, feel-good programming viewers have embraced since the show first premiered in 1983.

The 2025 Daytime Emmy winner told Decider, "Our job when we come on the air, we are fully cognizant that the viewers at home have had five hours of news programming. So we try to bring them a lighter, less anxiety-inducing side of what the headlines have to offer."

Live with Kelly and Mark airs weekday mornings in syndication. The series is filmed in New York City.

9 Subtle Self-Defeating Habits You Might Not Even Realize You're Doing, a Psychologist Warns

Fri, 02/20/2026 - 5:06am

Healthy habits—such as logging at least seven hours of quality sleep per night and 30 minutes of exercise on most days—can transform our lives. That's science, not hyperbole. Yet one psychologist warns that certain behaviors can hold us back, leaving us constantly playing catch-up. We don't mean in a toxic productivity way where every minute must be optimized, or we'll never meet an already unreachable target. Rather, some subtle, self-defeating habits can sabotage our abilities to even show up as the full, perfectly imperfect humans that we are.

"Self-defeating habits are behaviors that have become automatic, so much so that we don’t even think about them," Dr. Craig Kain, Ph.D., a licensed psychologist, tells Parade. "We just do them, and that’s the problem. Mindlessly repeating a self-defeating behavior can severely negatively impact all areas of our lives: our relationships, our career and our physical and emotional health."

He doesn't say any of the above or below to shame you. Self-defeating habits often have perfectly logical triggers, like childhood caretakers who expected perfection, and developed over time. They can be hard to break.

"In neurobiology, there is a saying that 'neurons that fire together, wire together,' which means the brain strengthens a system of neural pathways that are most repeated, thus forming a neural superhighway," Dr. Kain shares. "Since habits are repeated behaviors, our brains reinforce them each time we repeat them."

Reinforcement is great when it comes to sticking to the Mediterranean diet or putting your phone to bed two hours before you hit the hay. However, you'll want an off-ramp from the neural superhighway if you have any of these seven subtle self-defeating habits you might not realize you're doing. Dr. Kain also shares tips on how to move into the exit lane and break those self-defeating behaviors that are standing in the way of your own success.

7 Subtle Self-Defeating Habits, According to a Psychologist

Klaus Vedfelt/Getty Images

1. Underestimating the time it takes to do something

Dr. Kain says humans are notoriously prone to believing they can get something done more quickly than they realistically can.

"We fail to include all the needed steps in our estimations, [such as] forgetting how long it may take to find parking when meeting a friend for dinner," he shares. "When we do this once, we are late for dinner. When we perpetually do this, we become someone who has a bad habit of always being late."

2. Trying too hard to do something someone else’s way

We often hear about how copping a my-way-or-the-highway attitude can sabotage growth. Yet it's possible to overcorrect, and it's better to find a reasonable middle lane instead.

"There is nothing wrong with seeking out help and advice," Dr. Kain notes. "Sometimes it can be very useful, but how things are done is not 'one size fits all.' If we keep wearing a hand-me-down pair of shoes that’s a size too small, we get a blister."

He says it's also possible to develop "emotional blisters."

"We feel lousy about ourselves, wondering why we can’t do what others can," he explains. "Social media does a lot to reinforce this self-defeating habit. It’s easy to go from one influencer’s cure for whatever ails us to the next, to the next, without giving ourselves space and time to pause and consider what will really work for us."

3. Not sleeping on it

Dr. Kain warns that this subtle, self-defeating habit doesn't account for the fact that we humans sometimes fall into traps of giving automatic responses and behaving impulsively.

"Acting this way over and over reinforces this behavior until impulsiveness becomes habitual. Sometimes a snap decision can be great," Dr. Kain reports. "Oftentimes, especially when decisions have significant consequences, not taking the time to consider all of the consequences of our responses can have lasting negative results."

4. Not writing things down

Dr. Kain explains that memory is tricky.

"There are lots of things that influence our ability to hold on to information," he says. "Sometimes we are perfectly capable of recalling something important. Other times, it is nearly impossible."

Sounds logical. The issue is that because we remember some things, we convince ourselves we remember everything without writing it down, he notes. So we repeatedly don't.

"This habit often results in our inability to remember facts and details that can greatly affect our lives, particularly our relationships," he shares.

5. Avoiding doctors’ (and other important) appointments

You're busy. Doctors' offices and the possibility of red-flag lab results are scary. Still, it's vital to overcome these hurdles and avoid rationalizing self-defeating behaviors. It's tempting to think, "What I don't know won't hurt me," but that's simply not the case with your health.

"The outcome of so many health issues depends on early detection, and yet, most of us habitually postpone or delay doctor’s appointments until we absolutely have to go or just feel too guilty to put it off any longer," Dr. Kain highlights. "This habit is built around the notion of short-term gain at the expense of long-term benefits... but the cost of this habit can be enormous."

6. Telling ourselves scary stories

Dr. Kain shares that people can write stories. Some are entertaining, but others are frightening and self-defeating.

"Our brains have a difficult time distinguishing fact from fiction, so we believe our scary stories," he explains. "These are typically about the future and often include some type of catastrophic thinking, reinforcing the belief that something terribly wrong will happen."

He shares that it's important to recognize whether this behavior is becoming chronic, as it can wear you down over time.

"At first, we might question the validity of these stories, but as we repeat them over and over, they become more familiar, the act of telling them to ourselves more habitual, and believing them more compelling," he states.

7. Believing we can read other people’s minds

Spoiler alert: it's not possible.

"If we assume people are only thinking positively about us, this habit might prove advantageous," Dr. Kain says. "However, most of us assume that what others think of us is negative. Once this belief becomes firmly embedded in our psyche, our behavior changes. We lack self-esteem. We avoid people. We become socially isolated."

8. Doing too much, when less is more than OK

Even high-intensity interval training workouts give you a break from all-out, maximum efforts. Extend the same courtesy to yourself in other areas of your life.

"Doing more when less will do is not an easy habit to break, as we live in a society that rewards overachieving," Dr. Kain concedes. "But more isn’t always needed. Sometimes 'good enough' will do. Lots of things in our lives are 'pass/fail,' and working to get an A+ is not a productive use of our time and energy."

Related: If You Have Imposter Syndrome, You Likely Live With These 9 ‘Unspoken Fears,’ a Psychologist Says

9. Should-ing all over ourselves

Real talk: "Telling ourselves how we should be acting, what we should be doing and what we should have done is an extremely self-defeating habit," Dr. Kain explains. "No one likes being told what to do."

You may not even particularly like this habit if you do notice it.

"Ironically, most of us don’t like it when we become our own critical parent and tell ourselves what to do," he notes. "If we did have a highly critical parent, it is extremely easy to hear their voice in our heads, telling us what we should have done. This typically results in our habitually regressing to a teenage state, where we walk around irritated and angry with ourselves."

Related: 7 Common Things That Make You ‘Instantly Unlikable’ to Your In-Laws, According to Psychologists

3 Tips for Breaking These Common Habits1. Build awareness of self-defeating behaviors and patterns

We can't break habits we don't know that we have.

"One way to become more aware is to keep a journal in which self-defeating behaviors are tracked and recorded," Dr. Kain suggests. "Over time, patterns will become clear, allowing us to recognize self-defeating habits. If we find it difficult to observe our behavioral patterns, close friends are often very happy to point them out to us."

2. Pause

Dr. Kain shares that habitual behaviors can start to feel automatic and impulsive over time, so taking a pause is key. He suggests using the moment to (gently) ask yourself, "Am I going in the intended direction through behavior that supports me?"

"Sometimes taking a beat before we do anything can be enough to stop the cycle of automatic, habitual behavior," he says. "If we want to take things a step further, we can begin a regular mindfulness practice. With practice, mindfulness could become its own healthy habit."

Related: 6 Ways We Sabotage Our Own Authenticity Without Realizing It

3. Form new habits

As you move past self-defeating habits, Dr. Kain notes that you'll have a void. Filling it is an opportunity, though he says that people can fall into the hole of developing another self-defeating habit.

"We have to establish new habits to edge out and replace self-defeating ones," he urges. "One way to do this is to reward new behaviors. To break a self-defeating habit, we need to make sure that a new, more attractive [reward] awaits us."

Universal Just Made It Cheaper to Visit All Four Parks—Including Epic Universe

Fri, 02/20/2026 - 5:01am

If you've been trying to budget for a trip to Orlando lately, you know that access to the city's newest gate, Universal Epic Universe, has been famously complicated.

When the park first opened in 2025, it was strictly a standalone experience—meaning you had to buy an individual day pass (which could run as high as $199) with no option to visit the other parks on the same day.

Earlier this year, Universal loosened those restrictions by adding Epic Universe to its three-day "park hopper" passes, but even then, the logistics of a full week were still a puzzle.

This week, that puzzle finally got a lot easier to solve. Universal Orlando Resort has officially introduced an all-new weeklong ticket that bridges the gap between the legacy parks and the new world of Epic Universe.

Related: Universal Makes Epic Universe Easier (And Cheaper) to Visit in 2026

View this post on Instagram

The new offer gives U.S. residents six or seven days of "park-to-park" access to all four parks: Universal Studios Florida, Universal Islands of Adventure, Universal Volcano Bay and Epic Universe.

The biggest win for travelers is the price point: For a limited time, you can snag these six- or seven-day bundles for the same price as a standard five-day ticket. By essentially banking two "free" days of access, families can comfortably settle into an on-site stay for their entire vacation without feeling the pressure to split their time—or their budget—with other area attractions.

This extra time also solves one of the most common theme park dilemmas: the struggle to enjoy those resort amenities during the precious afternoon hours without feeling like you're "wasting" a park ticket. With these extended passes, guests finally have the freedom to mix and match their perfect vacation—whether that's a morning at Epic Universe followed by a lazy afternoon at the pool, or a late-night stroll through CityWalk—all on their own schedule.

Related: Luke Combs is Bringing a Massive 3-Story Bar to This Iconic Florida Spot

To sweeten the pot, the new ticket can be paired with a $300 dining credit for guests staying five nights or longer at select Universal Orlando hotels. This includes the retro-styled Universal Cabana Bay Beach Resort, the Universal Aventura Hotel, and the newest additions to the skyline, Universal Stella Nova Resort and Universal Terra Luna Resort.

Universal isn’t the only major player in Orlando trying to make a weeklong vacation more palatable for families this year. Just across town in Lake Buena Vista, Walt Disney World is also leaning into the "more time for less" strategy with its own competitive "Cool KIDS’ SUMMER" promotion.

That deal offers a similar value proposition, giving guests two free nights and two free theme park days when they purchase a four-night room-and-ticket package. Between Universal’s new 7-for-5 deal and Disney’s summer incentives, it is shaping up to be a rare season where the biggest names in theme parks are actively competing to see who can offer the most "free" vacation days.

And for Universal super fans who found the initial "one park per day" rules too restrictive, this update finally makes Epic Universe feel like a standard part of the Universal experience. It’s a significant shift in strategy that makes a week in the parks both more flexible and, finally, a little bit cheaper.

Carrie Underwood’s Breakout Hit, Ranked Among ‘100 Greatest Songs of All Time,’ Almost Went To Another Singer

Fri, 02/20/2026 - 5:00am

Carrie Underwood’s “Jesus Take the Wheel” became an instant smash upon release, helping to solidify the singer as a vocal powerhouse with the promise of longevity well beyond her 2005 win on American Idol

The chart-topping song served as the now Idol judge's breakthrough hit, appearing on her debut album, Some Hearts. But, surprisingly, the spiritual-leaning country ballad about a mother who loses control behind the wheel in the dead of winter, and pleads through prayer for divine intervention, almost went to someone else.

The Song Was Nearly Cut by Lady A’s Hillary Scott

According to Taste of Country, “Jesus Take the Wheel” was originally pitched to Hillary Scott as a solo artist before she became known as one of the members of the successful country trio Lady A. At the time, Scott had a development deal with a Nashville record label.

Carrie Underwood Had Not Won American Idol Yet

“It was one of my favorites, and then that was all right in the time she was on American Idol,” Scott told the outlet of Underwood’s journey and the song’s trajectory. "She was a country artist on American Idol, which was amazing, and that song really spoke to her."

"She goes on to take it, and it’s a huge hit, and the message of the song is so beautiful," she continued of the tune’s major success. “It’s neat to have watched the journey — the journey of that song — because they all have their own."

Chart Success and Award Wins

Written by Brett James, Hillary Lindsey, and Gordie Sampson, "Jesus, Take the Wheel" became Underwood’s first No. 1 and a defining moment in her career. The song struck an immediate chord with fans, spending six consecutive weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, cracking the Top 20 of the Hot 100, and crossing over onto the Christian and Adult Contemporary charts.

The song’s impact extended well beyond radio, earning a handful of awards, including a Grammy for Best Country Song and Best Female Country Vocal Performance. Underwood also won an ACM Award for Single of the Year for the song.

In the years since, “Jesus Take the Wheel” has continued to resonate, landing on various “best of” lists, including Grand Ole Opry’s 100 Greatest Country Songs of all time, compiled in honor of Opry’s 100th anniversary year. The fan-voted ranking placed George Jones’ “He Stopped Loving Her Today” country classic at No. 1, putting Underwood in good company.

'90s  Music Icons Reunite for First Performance in 25 Years

Fri, 02/20/2026 - 5:00am

Fans of early-2000s pop and R&B witnessed a magical blast from the past as Mya and Lil' Kim took the stage together for the first time in 25 years.

The performance of the iconic hit “Lady Marmalade” at DJ Cassidy’s Pass The Mic Live! at The Kia Forum rekindled memories of the Moulin Rouge! soundtrack that once dominated the charts worldwide.

The performance, shared on Entertainment Tonight’s Instagram, had fans rejoicing and singing along to the classic French hook: “Voulez-vous coucher avec moi ce soir?”

The caption celebrated the reunion, noting, “It’s been 25 years but they’re still two [explicit] chicks from the Moulin Rouge!

The reunion sparked excitement across social media, with fans leaving heartfelt comments.

One fan wrote, “So Nostalgic 🥹✨.”

Another exclaimed, “TWO QUEENS. 🔥🔥 Mya still got that beautiful voice I loved from way back when.”

Others expressed hope for a full reunion, urging, “Christina Aguilera, Pink plzzzz let’s celebrate the 25th anniversary all together one more time 🔥🔥❤️🙌” and “We need all the ladies back!”

View this post on Instagram

The crowd’s energy and the performance’s flawless delivery were proof that Mya and Lil' Kim still command the stage after two and a half decades. Fans were treated to the same bold and empowering vibe that made the 2001 release unforgettable.

This highly anticipated appearance marks the first time Mya and Lil' Kim have performed the song live together since the original recording, which famously featured Christina Aguilera, P!nk, Mya and Lil' Kim, produced by Missy Elliott and Rockwilder for Baz Luhrmann’s 2001 film Moulin Rouge!.

“Lady Marmalade” became a cultural phenomenon shortly after its release on March 10, 2001. The song reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for five consecutive weeks and topped charts in over 15 countries, including the UK and Australia. It was the top-selling single of 2001, surpassing five million copies sold worldwide, and won a Grammy in 2002 for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals.

The original collaboration wasn’t a formal girl group but a supergroup created solely for the film’s soundtrack. Each artist brought her own signature style to the track: Christina’s powerhouse pop vocals, P!nk’s soulful rock edge, Mya’s sultry R&B tones and Lil' Kim’s bold hip-hop rap verse. Missy Elliott contributed her iconic intro and outro rap, ensuring the track’s enduring appeal across genres.

Mya recently reflected on the experience, emphasizing that the supposed tension between members never affected the project.

“I personally never witnessed any catfights, nothing,” Mya told PEOPLE in 2025. She recalled the camaraderie during rehearsals, where the four women learned choreography together and even enjoyed a lunch break at a Mexican restaurant, bonding outside of work.

“It was really cool, campy, chill vibes,” she said.

Mya has also teased the possibility of a full reunion with Christina Aguilera and P!nk, saying in prior interviews that she hopes all four women can come together to perform the track again.

“All I can say is fingers crossed,” she told PEOPLE.

As one fan captured it perfectly, “This is iconic 🔥❤️ eternal Moulin Rouge 💃🏽.”

For long-time fans, the performance at The Kia Forum was a nostalgic trip and a promising glimpse of more to come.

No. 1 Sitcom Ranked ‘Best TV Show of the ‘70s’ Featured One of the Longest Audience Laughs in History

Fri, 02/20/2026 - 4:55am

In early 1976, All in the Familywas the top-rated series on television. Created by Norman Lear, the CBS comedy starred Carroll O’Connor, Jean Stapleton, Sally Struthers, and Rob Reiner as a working-class family living in Queens, New York.

All in the Family ran from January 1971 to April 1979 and was one of the first TV sitcoms to address controversial topics such as racism, abortion, and draft dodging. The series also spawned multiple spinoffs, including Maude, The Jeffersons, and Archie Bunker's Place.

In December 2025, TV Line ranked All in the Family as the best TV show of the 1970s. The classic comedy beat out Happy Days, The  Mary Tyler Moore Show and even M*A*S*H for the top spot. The outlet noted that the nine-season story arc for O’Connor’s Archie Bunker “encapsulated the changes in viewpoints and voices rising nationwide during the show's run, never quite redeeming Archie but softening his stance somewhat.” TV Line described All in the Family as “both a comedy classic and a groundbreaking piece of television Americana.”

The longest laugh

One of the most memorable All in the Family episodes aired nearly 55 years ago. The Feb. 19, 1972, episode, titled “Sammy’s Visit,” featured Archie Bunker moonlighting as a cab driver. Guest star Sammy Davis Jr. showed up at the Bunker’s door on Hauser Street after leaving his briefcase in Archie’s cab. Following an exchange about Archie’s prejudice—Davis told him, "You ain’t better than anybody”— the legendary singer insisted the two pose for a photo together.

After a countdown to three, Davis planted an unexpected kiss on Archie's cheek, and the All in the Family patriarch’s stunned face prompted a laugh from the studio audience that was so long, producers had to cut some of it from the final show.

In an interview with the Television Academy Foundation, All in the Family producer John Rich recalled that the original ending to the famous episode was “weak.”

“When we read the text the first time around the table, it had a very weak finish,” he said. “The finish was that a neighbor came from next door and wanted to take a picture, and Archie said, ‘No, no  pictures,’ and Sammy said, ‘No, no I want a picture, but you and me together, I want to remember this day or whatever that was.’ And they took the picture, and then he said goodbye.”

Rich said he took Lear aside and told him the episode needed a stronger ending.

“I said, 'I have an idea… I  want Sammy to kiss Archie,'" he shared, noting that Lear was not “keen” on the idea at first. “He finally said, ‘Yeah, let's try it,’” Rich added. “And of course it was one of the great laughs in show business…  We went in and Archie took that look of surprise, and then the audience just went berserk. We had to cut the laugh. I mean, it was so long, it went on for over a minute.”

Gold Derby described Davis’s iconic kiss on Archie Bunker’s cheek as “one of the most memorable moments of the medium.”

Walmart's $46 16-Cube Organizer Is 'Perfect for Lightweight Storage' and Comes in 4 Colors

Fri, 02/20/2026 - 4:10am

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

If you’ve been looking for a flexible storage solution that doesn’t take up half the room, the Songmics 16-Cube Storage Organizer is now $46 at Walmart in the brown colorway, down from $93. It comes in four colors: brown, black, gray, and white. While black is currently priced at $38 and gray and white are $46, brown offers the largest discount relative to its original $93 price.

The bookcase includes 16 cubes, each measuring 11.8 inches long, 11.8 inches wide, and 11.8 inches high. The full unit stands 48.4 inches tall and is constructed from plastic panels supported by a metal wire frame with plastic connectors. Each cube holds up to 22 pounds. The panels are waterproof and easy to wipe clean, and a rubber mallet is included to help you put it together. Plus, because of its modular design, the cubes can be rearranged into different shapes to fit a closet, a bedroom wall, or an entryway, or to serve as a low divider.

Songmics 16-Cube Storage Organizer, From $46 (was $93) at Walmart

Instead of committing to a single fixed bookshelf layout, you can build it vertically, horizontally, or split it into smaller sections. It works for shoes, folded clothing, towels, bags, and toys. Being able to customize the shape makes a huge difference, especially when working around tight corners or sloped ceilings in smaller apartments or dorm rooms.

Shoppers described it as “perfect for lightweight storage,” noting that it’s “easy to build and very sturdy.” Others said it’s “perfect for a small room” and mentioned that it “fits so much.” Several said that it works especially well for shoe storage, jewelry displays, yarn collections, and bathroom organization, thanks to the waterproof panels.

For under $50, you’re getting 16 compartments that can each support up to 22 pounds, plus the ability to reconfigure the layout over time. It’s lighter than traditional wooden bookcases, making it easier to move if you rearrange your space. You also have more placement options, as its waterproof design can withstand damp environments — unlike real wood, which can warp.

Now is the perfect time to pick up the Songmics 16-Cube Storage Organizer while the brown colorway is still discounted at $46 at Walmart. With four colorways and a variety of construction options, it’s a practical choice for closets, bedrooms, and small spaces.

Fashionable sneakers will never go out of style, so you might as well invest in a few pairs that will last you. Some of my top casual sneakers stem from Reebok, Skechers, New Balance, and, lately, Walmart, as the retailer has been hitting out of the park with amazing deal finds. We just found these Dolce Vita Joque Lace-Up Sneaker for up to 51% off at Walmart, and they'll become your new everyday shoe.

The sneakers, which initially cost $70, have been reduced to as low as $35 in the beige and navy colorways. You can shop the burgundy hue on sale for only $41, and the red hue for $47. Sizes range from 5 to 11, including half sizes, at a medium shoe width. It's noted in the product description that they run small, so you may want to consider sizing up. Nearly every color and size combination is in stock right now, but, because these are on clearance, we don't expect that to last for long. Therefore, you'll want to add them to your cart now!

What we like about these polyurethane sneakers is that they're decorated with multiple colors. For example, the beige offering features additional white and black hues on the sides of the footwear, allowing them to become a fun fashion statement with any outfit. They have a simple lace-up design that makes them easy to take on and off. There's a rubber outsole with minimal traction and slight platform, so we recommended avoiding strenuous terrain.

The sneakers have nearly a perfect five-star rating, with one Walmart shopper citing the style as "perfect." While reviews on this shoe are a bit soft on Walmart, over at Macy's the shoe has over 200 five-star ratings. Shoppers said the "excellent" style is "very comfortable," "gorgeous," and "stylish" for dressing up or down.

Despite the unique design, we think that the footwear would pair swimmingly with nearly any pants, especially jeans, leggings, and even certain skirts. Considering they're fairly lightweight, they're also ideal to wear year-round.

Eric Dane Is Remembered as a ‘Light’ in an Emotional Tribute From His ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Co-Star

Thu, 02/19/2026 - 11:50pm

Following the tragic news of Eric Dane’s passing on Feb. 19, the Grey's Anatomy community is publicly grieving the loss of a former cast member.

Actress Kim Raver is the latest co-star to share a public reflection, posting an emotional tribute to the late actor on social media.

Dane died on Thursday at the age of 53 following his battle with ALS.

Raver, who starred alongside Dane as Dr. Teddy Altman, took to Instagram to remember the man behind the popular character Dr. Mark Sloan. The actress shared two photographs with her followers. The first image featured Raver and Dane in character, dressed in blue hospital scrubs while filming a scene. The second image captured a personal memory off set, showing Raver, Dane and his wife Rebecca Gayheart smiling together in formal wear at the Chrysalis Butterfly Ball.

View this post on Instagram Remembering a Bright Hollywood Light

In her caption, Raver highlighted Dane's warm personality and his undeniable talent on the ABCmedical drama set.

"Eric was a light," Raver wrote. "You'd see it effortlessly shine from him on the set of Grey's as well as when he was with Rebecca and the girls."

She continued to praise his abilities as an actor, specifically noting his sharp comedic delivery.

"During filming he'd get this twinkle in his eye and with a mischievous look, he would deliver with perfect comedic timing, a line of dialogue that would floor you," she shared. "You will be missed."

Raver concluded her message by extending her deepest condolences to his family.

"My love and thoughts go out to Rebecca and their girls. We love you," she added.

A Defining Era at Seattle Grace

Raver and Dane shared the screen during a highly rated era of the television series. Dane originated the role of Mark Sloan in the show's second season, quickly evolving from a guest star into a central figure. Raver joined the cast in Season 6. The two actors worked closely together navigating complex hospital storylines until Dane departed the series early in Season 9.

Dane’s final year was defined by a strong commitment to medical advocacy. Following his April 2025 diagnosis, he utilized his public platform to push for increased federal funding for ALS research. He is survived by Gayheart and their two daughters, Billie and Georgia.

You don’t need a full closet overhaul to make your wardrobe feel ready for spring. All it takes is one fresh accessory to shift the mood — something colorful, cheerful, and just a little bit playful. As heavy layers start to disappear and lighter fabrics take their place, adding a floral accent can instantly brighten your everyday rotation. One easy way to do it? A statement bag from Kate Spade Outlet that carries your essentials and your outfit at the same time.

Right now, the Madison Floral Willow Mini Crossbody is marked down to just $60, a jaw-dropping 80% off its original $299 price. Whether you’re hitting a weekend brunch, running errands, or taking an afternoon stroll, it’s a simple way to add color, style, and a wink of whimsy to your spring wardrobe.

Bright, bold, and unapologetically cheerful, this petite purse instantly elevates even the simplest outfit into a spring-ready ensemble. Despite its compact dimensions of 8 inches long, 4.92 inches high, and 2 inches wide, it’s surprisingly roomy for all your essentials, including the largest iPhone, and keeps everything neatly organized with thoughtful interior and exterior pockets.

The 24-inch adjustable gold-hardware chain strap allows for versatile wear, whether you sling it crossbody for hands-free ease or wear it over the shoulder for a touch of elegance. A secure snap closure keeps your belongings in place, while the metal Spade logo pinmount adds the signature Kate Spade finish. Playful yet polished, practical yet pretty, this bag demonstrates that even tiny accessories can carry big style.
