Savannah Guthrie's Mom: Who Is Carlos Palazuelos?

Wed, 02/11/2026 - 7:58am

Carlos Palazuelos is the person who was detained in connection with the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie. A family member first confirmed his name while he was being detained, and it was later confirmed by Palazuelos himself after he was released.

On Tuesday, Feb. 10, law enforcement detained an individual for questioning during a traffic stop in Rio Rico, Arizona — a city about 60 miles south of Tucson and near the United States/Mexico border.

TMZ later confirmed the individual is "not a member of the Guthrie family.”

That same night, CNN spoke to a woman in the area who said her name is Josefina and that the person detained is Palazuelos, who is her son-in-law.

However, she claims he had nothing to do with the 84-year-old’s disappearance, saying Palazuelos is a “good guy,” who does not have a criminal record or history of being violent.

“They had somebody give a tip that the lady was in my house,” she said. “I told them you can go in and search my house; there is nobody there. I have nothing to hide.”

She also said she was “positive” her son-in-law was at home during the time Nancy was abducted.

Earlier on Feb. 10 the FBI released photos and videos of the alleged kidnapper that were taken by a camera on Nancy's front door the morning of her disappearance on Feb. 1.

Who Is Carlos Palazuelos?

NewsNation's Brian Entinreported that Palazuelos was working as a delivery driver for DoorDash when he was pulled over and detained but authorities.

Josefina, for her part, said on CNN that her son-in-law works as a delivery driver in Tucson, but that the company he works for is FedEx. She added that Palazuelos and her daughter are living in her home after being evicted and are awaiting their tax refund to have enough money to move out.

Upon his release, Palazuelos spoke with reporters outside of his home, claiming he was held against his will and wasn't read his rights.

RELATED: Law Enforcement Believes Nancy Guthrie’s Kidnapper Is From Tucson

Nancy Guthrie has not yet been found and the FBI urges anyone with tips or leads to call 1-800-CALL-FBI in addition to the Pima County Sheriff’s Office number, 520-351-4900. A $50,000 reward is currently being offered to anyone with information leading to Nancy or the arrest of her kidnapper.

Correction: A previous version of this article stated that a person with the same name from the same area of Arizona was convicted of sexual abuse in 2005, citing a report from Nogales International. After being released from detention, Palazuelos identified himself to reporters and his photo does not match the individual referenced in that report.

Did Hilary Duff Just Tease 'A Cinderella Story 2'? Her Cryptic TikTok Has Fans in a Frenzy

Wed, 02/11/2026 - 7:49am

A Cinderella Story turned Hilary Duff and Chad Michael Murray into the ultimate Y2K dream couple when it hit theaters in 2004.

Made on a modest $19 million budget, the modern fairy tale went on to gross more than $70 million worldwide, opening at No. 4 behind I, Robot, Spider-Man 2, and Anchorman. Critics weren’t exactly charmed — the film holds an 11% on Rotten Tomatoes — but audiences couldn’t have cared less. It earned five Teen Choice Award nominations, won Duff a Kids’ Choice Award for Favorite Movie Actress, and has since become one of the most enduring comfort classics of the 2000s.

So when the 38-year-old “Come Clean” singer dropped a cryptic TikTok with a very deliberate nod to the film, the internet collectively lost its mind.

On Tuesday, February 10, Duff shared a short clip of herself lip-syncing to one of the most recognizable lines from A Cinderella Story: “Sweetheart, now that you're old enough, there's something I've always wanted to tell you…” The video then cuts to a black screen displaying “2/12” in purple. “I promise it’s very pretty and it’s very bright ✨,” she captioned the post.

That was all it took for fans to spiral in the comments section.

“Holy sh*t!!! A Cinderella Story 2??? 💕🌸,” one person wrote.

“PLEASE BE ANOTHER CINDERELLA STORY,” another begged.

“Wait!?!?!? A Cinderella Story 2?!?!?!?! Please please please!!!!!” chimed in a third.

“If y’all give us another Cinderella story I will lose my mind,” someone else added.Even BuzzFeed couldn't resist jumping in, commenting, "does anyone have eyes on jennifer coolidge?? this is NOT a drill."

While fans are clearly holding out hope for a sequel, what we do know paints a slightly different (but equally exciting) picture. Duff is in the middle of a major musical comeback. Her sixth studio album, Luck… or Something, drops February 20, marking her first new music in more than a decade.

She just wrapped her sold-out Small Rooms, Big Nerves mini-tour, her first headlining run in over 10 years — and at the final stop at Los Angeles’ Wiltern on January 29, she pulled fans onstage and handed them T-shirts that spelled out “WORLD TOUR LOADING…”.

Shortly after, Duff’s official website went live with the name of her new album and a countdown clock ticking toward — you guessed it — February 12. In other words, her mysterious TikTok teaser might not be hinting at a Cinderella Story sequel at all, but rather the next step in her new music era, with many fans expecting a tour announcement.

Of course, fans won’t know for sure until the countdown hits zero. Still, the sequel chatter isn’t entirely out of nowhere. Murray previously revealed he already has the perfect sequel pitch ready, even calling out to Duff directly: “Here you go, Hil. From me to you, let’s do it.”

'Bad Bunny' Is Now a College Course — Here’s What Students Are Learning

Wed, 02/11/2026 - 7:42am

Even if you thought Bad Bunny was everywhere you turned - chart-topping music, multiple awards, Super Bowlhalftime show - there was one place you probably didn't expect. That place? The classroom.

San Diego State University is offering a college course focused on Bad Bunny’s music, cultural influence, and political engagement, making the Puerto Rican musician the subject of formal academic study.

The course, titled Bad Bunny: Perreo, Performance and Pop Culture Politics, examines his work beyond the well-known chart success. Students analyze lyrics, music videos, and public appearances to understand how Bad Bunny blends reggaeton, Latin trap, and global pop to comment on identity and social issues. The curriculum also considers his role in shaping modern Latin music globally and his influence on the mainstream perception of Latin culture.

The class illustrates the increasing role of popular music as a method for social analysis. Contemporary artists, including those in hip-hop, K-pop, and Latin music, are now studied for their contributions to cultural discourse. The class says that students will explore how Bad Bunny's fashion choices, public statements, and advocacy work intersect with his music to influence perceptions of masculinity, race, and social justice.

Bad Bunny’s trajectory from a YouTube performer in Puerto Rico to a cultural figure studied in American universities highlights the significance of popular music. His work demonstrates the capacity of contemporary music to reflect social change and influence cultural conversations. The course offers examples from his most influential albums and performances, including collaborations with other international artists.

Related: NFL Reacts to Bad Bunny's Super Bowl Halftime Show

The class, offered this spring, underscores the recognition of pop music as a valid academic subject. Students are expected to engage critically with his artistic output, examining how his lyrics and public persona interact with political and social narratives.

By studying Bad Bunny in an academic setting, the program highlights the artist’s enduring influence and demonstrates how contemporary music can inform understanding of identity, politics, and cultural trends.

Bad Bunny has become one of the most acclaimed artists of his generation. At the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, he made history when his album Debí Tirar Más Fotos won Album of the Year (the first entirely Spanish‑language album to receive the Recording Academy’s top honor). He also dominated the 2025 Latin Grammy Awards, where Debí Tirar Más Fotos took home multiple prizes including Album of the Year, Best Urban Music Album, and Best Reggaeton Performance. Beyond awards, Bad Bunny has consistently topped charts worldwide, broken streaming records, and expanded his cultural influence through historic performances such as the first all-Spanish-language Super Bowl halftime show.

Bad Bunny’s introduction into academic classes shows that he (and other pop culture figures) can provide a way to examine modern issues of race, gender, and representation in media, ensuring their pop influence will extend far beyond music charts.

11 Hand Creams That Make Crepey Skin Look Smoother

Wed, 02/11/2026 - 7:40am

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

If the skin on your hands looks increasingly thin, crinkled and fragile—almost like crepe paper—you're dealing with one of the most visible signs of aging. Crepey skin happens when hands lose collagen, elastin and the fat padding that once kept them looking plump and smooth. And because hands are constantly exposed to sun, weather, washing and daily wear, they tend to show these changes faster and more dramatically than other areas of your body, which has many of us looking for the best hand cream to use ASAP.

Here's what makes crepey texture so frustrating: it's not just about dryness. You can slather on regular hand lotion all day and still see that thin, wrinkled appearance staring back at you. That's because crepey skin reflects a deeper structural issue—a breakdown in the skin's scaffolding that requires more than basic moisture. You need ingredients that actively support collagen production, strengthen the skin barrier and provide the kind of deep, barrier-repairing hydration that helps plump and smooth thin, fragile skin.

The good news? While you can't completely erase crepey texture, you absolutely can improve how it looks and feels with the right hand creams and consistent use. We consulted board-certified dermatologists and skin specialists who treat aging skin to find out which hand creams actually deliver visible smoothing results. Here are their top picks for restoring resilience, hydration and a smoother appearance to dry, aging hands.

Top Hand CreamsWhat Is Crepey Skin?

Crepey skin is thin, wrinkled skin with a delicate, crinkled texture that resembles crepe paper.

Dr. Rachel Nazarian, board-certified dermatologist and founder of Nazarian Dermatology, explains the underlying cause. "Crepey skin is skin that has thinned and lost much of its collagen and elastin, making it wrinkled, similar to crepe paper, and super fragile," she says.

This type of skin can tear more easily with mild injury and often bruises very easily too. It can occur from natural loss of collagen due to aging or from environmental loss of collagen from exposure to ultraviolet radiation and other external factors.

Dr. Jodi LoGerfo from Orentreich Medical Group's dermatology practice adds important structural context, sharing that crepey skin occurs because of decreased collagen and elastin fiber production and decreased cell turnover, which causes the skin to be less supple. "Collagen and elastin are essential for maintaining skin firmness and elasticity," she explains. Fat also plays a role—it starts to decrease over time, which results in it becoming flattened out. The aging process causes the skin barrier to become compromised as the epidermis becomes thinner and less resilient, which is why the skin becomes fragile and paper-thin.

The bottom line? Crepey skin reflects a loss of structural support in the skin's deeper layers, not just surface dryness.

Can You Get Rid of Crepey Skin?

You can't completely get rid of crepey skin, but you can make it look a lot better with the right approach.

Dr. Dara Spearman, board-certified dermatologist, is straightforward about the reality. "You can't completely erase crepey skin, but you can significantly improve its appearance with consistent skin care and lifestyle changes," she says. Sun protection, moisturizers that support the skin barrier, ingredients that boost collagen like retinoids and peptides, and treatments such as lasers or microneedling all help strengthen and plump skin over time.

Dr. Nazarian is clear that multiple approaches work together to improve crepey texture. You can improve it through procedures with your dermatologist that stimulate new collagen fibers and reverse the thinning, which strengthens and repairs thin, aging skin.

"Topical ingredients like peptides, growth factors, and retinol can also stimulate the production of new skin cells and collagen, though they work a little more slowly over time and can improve the appearance of crepey skin with continued use," she explains, stressing the importance of being diligent about sun protection to preserve your skin, prevent future thinning and collagen loss, and slow accelerated aging that can lead to more crepey skin.

The takeaway? Crepey skin is manageable with consistent care, protective ingredients and daily sun protection—and the right hand cream is an essential part of that routine.

11 Best Hand Creams, Tested by DermatologistsBest for Dry Skin: CeraVe Therapeutic Hand Cream, $7

Amazon

Dr. Spearman calls this rich in ceramides and hyaluronic acid to restore the skin barrier and deeply hydrate even very dry, crepey hands. Dr. LoGerfo agrees, noting that the heavy-duty combination of ceramides and hyaluronic acid richly hydrates and repairs the skin barrier. The formula is specifically designed for severely dry hands and provides the kind of deep, barrier-supporting moisture that thin, crepey skin desperately needs. The non-greasy formula absorbs well despite its rich texture, making it practical for daily use.

Best Scent: L'Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream, $34

Amazon

This highly moisturizing shea butter has a subtle, classic scent that many patients enjoy, Dr. Spearman says. Dr. LoGerfo adds that it's hydrating with a subtle fragrance that doesn't overwhelm. The rich, luxurious formula contains 20% shea butter to deeply nourish and smooth rough, crepey texture while the light, pleasant scent makes application feel like a treat rather than a chore. The honey and almond scent is sophisticated without being overpowering, and the cream itself absorbs beautifully while leaving hands noticeably softer.

Best Fragrance-Free: Vanicream Moisturizing Skin Cream, $15

Amazon

Dr. Spearman specifically chose this as fragrance-free, non-irritating and excellent for sensitive or reactive skin prone to irritation from perfumes. The formula is completely free of dyes, fragrance, parabens and formaldehyde releasers, making it ideal for those whose crepey skin is also sensitive or reactive. Despite its gentle formulation, it provides serious hydration and barrier support. The thick, rich texture might feel heavy initially but absorbs well and provides lasting moisture for thin, fragile skin.

Best Quick-Absorption: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hand Gel Cream, $9

Amazon

This lightweight gel-cream texture with hyaluronic acid that sinks in fast without a greasy feel, making it ideal for daytime use, Dr. Spearman says. The unique gel-cream hybrid delivers serious hydration from hyaluronic acid but absorbs almost instantly, so you can apply it and immediately get back to work, use your phone or continue your day without waiting for it to dry. It's perfect for those who need hydration throughout the day but can't tolerate the feeling of heavy cream on their hands.

Best With SPF: EltaMD UV Lotion Broad-Spectrum SPF 30+, $35

Amazon

This formula contains vitamin E and hyaluronic acid for hydration support, layers effortlessly and keeps the skin looking soft and balanced throughout the day. Dr. Spearman especially likes the daily hydration combined with sun protection which she says is important because UV damage worsens crepey texture. This is an essential product since hands are constantly exposed to sun damage.

Best Collagen Boosting: Sol de Janeiro Beija Flor Body Collagen Boosting Elasticream, $48

Amazon

Dr. Nazarian specifically recommends this for its collagen-boosting benefits, noting it contains polypeptides and bio-retinol and is clinically proven to reduce crepiness while providing intense hydration. The innovative formula works to actually improve the structural issues causing crepey texture by stimulating collagen production rather than just temporarily plumping the skin with moisture. The bio-retinol offers the benefits of traditional retinol without potential irritation, making it ideal for thin, fragile skin. The rich, luxurious texture feels indulgent while delivering serious results, and the brand's signature Brazilian Bum Bum scent makes application feel like a treat.

Best Intense Hydration: Eucerin Advanced Repair Hand Cream, $9

Amazon

Dr. Spearman calls this a very rich formula with ceramides and urea to lock in moisture and plump crepey, dry skin. It provides ceramide-supported hydration that restores dry, compromised hands, strengthens the barrier and softens surface texture. The formula is particularly effective because urea is a humectant that draws moisture into the skin while ceramides repair the barrier, giving you both immediate comfort and long-term improvement.

Best for Age Spots: Revision Skincare Lumiquin Brightening Hand Cream, $74

Amazon

Crepey texture and age spots often appear together on hands since both are caused by cumulative sun damage and aging. Dr. Spearman specifically chose this because it includes brightening agents like niacinamide and antioxidants to help fade sun-induced dark spots while hydrating. This formula addresses both concerns simultaneously; smoothing thin, crepey texture while working to even out discoloration and fade dark spots. The hydrating base ensures your skin doesn't become dry or irritated during the brightening process.

This formula is moisturizing but absorbs without a heavy residue, making it great for everyday wear. Dr. LoGerfo likes that it moisturizes intensely without feeling too greasy. The formula delivers serious hydration and barrier support for crepey skin but absorbs quickly and leaves hands feeling soft and smooth rather than slick or shiny. It's ideal for those who need therapeutic-level moisture but can't stand the greasy feeling many rich hand creams leave behind.

Best Inexpensive: O'Keeffe's Working Hands Intensive Repair, $18

O'Keeffe's Working Hands Intensive Repair

Dr. Spearman recommends this thick, occlusive cream best used at night with cotton gloves to maximize hydration and support repair while you sleep. The concentrated formula creates a protective barrier that prevents moisture loss overnight, allowing the intensive hydration to penetrate deeply into thin, crepey skin. Or, if you're particularly dry during the day, it's a good one to have on hand (pun intended, of course).

Best Overnight: SkinBetter Science AlphaRet Body Overnight Cream, $145

Skinbetter

Dr. Nazarian specifically chose this for targeting age spots and crepey texture simultaneously. The innovative formula blends retinoid and alpha hydroxy acid technology to support skin renewal, improve surface texture and address discoloration. It works overnight to fade sun spots while improving the thin, crinkled texture of crepey skin; making it ideal for hands showing multiple signs of aging. The gentle yet effective formulation delivers visible results without the irritation that can sometimes accompany retinoid products, especially important for thin, fragile skin that's already compromised.

Both bands have built loyal fanbases in the alt-rock and pop-rock scenes, making them natural fits for The Maine’s audience.

The Maine’s 2026 tour begins March 24 in Las Vegas at Brooklyn Bowl and wraps May 2 in Dallas, Texas. Major stops include Chicago, Brooklyn, Toronto, Atlanta, Nashville, Houston and Austin.

The headline trek marks the band’s first in nearly two years. When the tour was first announced, The Maine described it as a celebration of their longtime supporters.

“It’s time to celebrate the fact that you’ve chosen our band for the past 19 years,” the band shared. “We’re back for our first headline tour in two years, and we can’t wait to hear your voices singing the songs that have brought us all together. Long live The Maine. Long live 8123.”

The special guest announcement comes as The Maine prepare to release their 10th studio album, Joy Next Door, arriving April 10, 2026. The album begins a new era for the Tempe, Arizona band, which formed in 2007 and has kept the same five members throughout its career; John O’Callaghan, Kennedy Brock, Garrett Nickelsen, Jared Monaco and Pat Kirch.

Lead single “Die To Fall” introduced the project earlier this year. Fans can likely expect new material in the setlist alongside longtime favorites such as “Everything I Ask For,” “Black Butterflies and Déjà Vu,” and songs from 2023’s self-titled album.

Over nearly two decades, The Maine have transitioned from early pop-punk roots to a mature alternative rock sound, all while operating independently through their label 8123.

Now, with Nightly and Grayscale officially confirmed as tour support and multiple cities sold out, the 2026 headline run is entering its most in-demand phase. For fans still planning to attend, the clock may be ticking.

Savannah Guthrie's Mom: Carlos Palazuelos Released by Authorities, Says He Was 'Held Against' His Will

Wed, 02/11/2026 - 7:15am

Carlos Palazuelos has been identified as the person who was detained by authorities in connection with Nancy Guthrie's disappearance on Tuesday, Feb. 10.

Within hours of the FBI releasing photos of a subject they believe may have knowledge of what happened to Guthrie when she went missing on Sunday, Feb. 1, authorities raced to Rio Rico, Arizona, where they detailed Palazuelos and questioned him. After about two hours, he was released—and he spoke to the media.

This is Carlos who says he was pulled over by police and was accused of kidnapping #NancyGuthrie.

“They held me against my will,” Palazuelos told reporters outside his home. “They didn’t even read me my rights until two hours later." He went on to show reporters his wrists, which he said were "swollen" from being in handcuffs.

Police questioned Palazuelos after pulling over the car he was in with his wife. He explained that he worked in Tucson doing deliveries, but said he didn't know Guthrie.

According to NBC News, Palazuelos called the incident "terrifying."

"Something I didn't do. I felt like I was being kidnapped, bro. They didn't tell me anything," he said.

Palazuelos was asked by the media if he'd ever delivered a package to Nancy's home, to which he replied, "I don't know, it might have been a possibility. ... All I know is they showed my in-law a picture of somebody wearing a mask or something and it supposedly looked like my eyes."

Meanwhile, the search for Guthrie continues, now 11 days into the case. Authorities have not named a suspect or person of interest and no arrests have been made.

American Girl Celebrates 40 Years With Exciting New Releases

Wed, 02/11/2026 - 7:11am

American Girl turns 40 this year—hard to believe, we know. But it's true, and the company isn't letting it pass without some sort of bash, so to celebrate its milestone birthday, it's announcing several new releases for fans of all ages.

Since its inception in 1986, American Girl has promoted powerful characters and their stories of courage, compassion, loyalty, and resilience to connect with fans across generations. According to a press release shared with Parade, the brand has sold more than 36 million dolls and introduced over 50 characters across its expansive universe.

To commemorate four decades of storytelling, community, and empowerment, American Girl is launching a "bold" new line of collector dolls dubbed the Modern Era Collection (not to be confused with its recently released Contemporary Characters) and its first-ever novel for adult readers, titled Samantha: The Next Chapter. The brand is also walking fans through an "unprecedented" exploration of its history with a new archival book, The Making of American Girl.

All of this comes on the heels of two other fairly recent drops, American Girl's new Disney Princess line and KPOP Demon Hunters collection.

American Girl Drops First-Ever Adult Novel, New Line of Collector Dolls for 40th Anniversary Year

Today, American Girl is introducing six reimagined versions of historic American Girl personalities as part of its "bold" new line of 14.5-inch collector dolls, revamped through a contemporary lens.

American Girl's Modern Era Collection is available today for pre-sale, but only for AG Rewards Berry members. Pre-sale availability for all shoppers opens on Friday, Feb. 13.

Continuing with the theme of "growing up," Samantha: The Next Chapter explores a new era of Samantha Parkington. The upcoming novel "bridges old with new," and follows the historical character as a 25-year-old navigating adulthood in the 1920s. It was written by New York Times Bestselling author Fiona Davis and is currently available for pre-sale ($30), ahead of its Oct. 13 release in the U.S. and Canada, everywhere books are sold.

Samantha: The Next Chapter by Fiona Davis, American Girl's first adult novel.

American Girl

According to an official description, Parkington is working to educate women in New York about suffrage and to encourage them to vote in the presidential election that fall, when her large inheritance—including her childhood home in Mount Bedford—is stolen in a shocking scheme. Parkington then goes from socialite to shop girl overnight and experiences a very different side of New York City. Searching for clues regarding the theft of her inheritance, she infiltrates the business of a notorious criminal in New York City. Determined as ever, Samantha will do whatever it takes to find answers and save her family’s legacy.

The brand is also offering an "unprecedented exploration" of the American Girl archives with another upcoming American Girl Publishing title, The Making of American Girl. The book is arranged chronologically, starting with the first historical characters (Samantha, Kirsten, and Molly) and reviewing the early days of the American Girl magazine, as well as the development of more recent historical characters (Felicity, Addy, and Josefina), as well as the launch of the first American Girl Place in Chicago. It's due out on Tuesday, May 12.

The Golden Girls Café Is Coming—But It’s Not in Miami

Wed, 02/11/2026 - 7:10am

As a child of the ’80s—and one who often spent weekends at my grandmother’s house—there was one show that counted as true appointment viewing. It usually came with a frozen Sara Lee dessert pulled from the freezer and three generations planted on the couch.

The show, of course, was The Golden Girls—a sitcom about four silver-haired friends living together in a Florida retirement community. Somehow, even as an 8-year-old, their stage of life felt completely relevant. I can still hear Sophia’s voice in my head—“Picture it…”—and remember laughing along with my mom and grandmother at every sharp one-liner and cheesecake-fueled heart-to-heart.

So when I heard that a Golden Girls-themed café was opening—and that it wasn’t just a novelty photo op, but a fully immersive experience—I immediately put it on my calendar.

Related: A New Barbie Experience is Catching Attention in Las Vegas

View this post on Instagram

Beginning February 19, The Golden Girls Kitchen is popping up at Pullman Yards in Atlanta for a limited run, bringing fans straight into the pastel-hued, Miami-inspired world of Dorothy, Rose, Blanche and Sophia. Created by Bucket Listers—the team behind nostalgic hits like Saved by the Max and The Malibu Barbie Café—the experience leans hard into what fans actually love about the show: humor, comfort food and the joy of feeling instantly at home.

This isn’t a casual walk-in café. Every ticket includes a reserved seat and a timed window to soak it all in, along with a cocktail or mocktail, an entrée, and—non-negotiably—cheesecake. The menu pulls directly from the show’s spirit, with playful nods that longtime fans will catch immediately. There’s Sophia’s Lasagna Al Forno (available with meat or as a vegan option), a Miami-style Cuban sandwich called The Lanai, Blanche’s Georgia Style Cookie and a Bacon Lettuce Potato Sandwich (say it fast). Cheesecake comes in multiple flavors, because of course it does—no Golden Girls gathering is complete without it.

Related: This Las Vegas Attraction is Part Art Space, Part Theme Park—And It’s Expanding in 2026

Beyond the food, the experience is designed to feel like you’ve stepped onto the set. Guests can sit around the kitchen table, pose on the Lanai or snap photos against the instantly recognizable banana leaf bedroom wallpaper. There’s also a merchandise shop stocked with exclusive Golden Girls gear, plus themed events sprinkled throughout the run—including drag brunches, trivia nights, and sing-alongs that lean into the show’s campy, inclusive legacy.

The timing feels especially fitting. The series celebrated its 40th anniversary in September 2025, and all seven seasons are now streaming on Hulu, introducing a whole new generation to the wit, warmth and emotional honesty that made the show iconic in the first place. What once felt like a sitcom “for older people” has aged into something else entirely: a cultural comfort object, endlessly quotable and surprisingly timeless.

For fans who grew up watching alongside parents or grandparents—or for anyone who discovered the show later and instantly understood the appeal—The Golden Girls Kitchen isn’t just a pop-up. It’s a chance to step inside a world that still feels familiar, funny, and welcoming decades later. Cheesecake included.

The 22 Best Five Below Candy Finds, According to a Superfan

Wed, 02/11/2026 - 7:05am

As a mom of six, I’m always on the lookout for stores that are fun and affordable, and Five Below is one of my favorites. I started shopping at the fan-favorite discount store around 2017, and now I go weekly, sometimes for specific items and other times just to browse.

It’s one of my favorite spots to shop for trendy toys, last-minute gifts, craft supplies, phone accessories, cute t-shirts and seasonal finds, all priced at $5 or less (with a few slightly higher-priced items sprinkled in). It’s the kind of store where you run in for one thing and leave with a bag full of "treasures" you didn't know you needed.

What doesn’t get talked about as much, though, is the Five Below candy selection. And at first glance, it’s easy to overlook. These sweet treats aren't the store’s main draw, and it doesn’t present itself like a traditional candy shop, but after enough trips (often with kids in tow), it's become one of our favorite spots to grab something sugary.

Because of the variety and the prices, it's an especially good place to buy candy for groups (or six kids). I like to hit Five Below for birthday party favors, movie nights, holiday baskets or road trips. The selection is playful and unexpected, with a mix of recognizable brands, fun packaging and throwback favorites.

The wide selection can also be a little overwhelming, which is where I come in. Here’s what to know before you start filling your basket, straight from a superfan who makes this shopping trip often.

Where Is the Candy Located in Five Below Stores?

When you walk into a Five Below, there will be a large display of 15-cent candy, usually in the main aisle, and in that section behind this display is where you'll find most of the other candy. But that isn't the only place. The candy is spread across a few areas, including near the checkout, along the walls or mixed into seasonal displays, so just keep an eye out while you're shopping.

What Kind of Candy Does Five Below Carry?

Courtesy Angel Albring

Five Below’s candy selection is eclectic. You’ll find a mix of well-known brands and novelty items, including gummies, chocolate, sour candy and nostalgic throwbacks in vintage-style packaging. There are often oversize boxes or bags meant for sharing, along with themed candy tied to seasons or holidays. Five Below is also the place to look for trending candies, like freeze-dried candy, Swedish candy or the fan-favorite Peelerz (see #2 below).

Another reason I'm a fan of Five Below sweets? They have so many whimsical options. Many items feel designed to be fun first and candy second. The treats come in bright colors, unexpected shapes and packaging that practically begs to be picked up by curious kids (and adults).

22 Best Candy Finds at Five Below

Ready to get shopping? These are some of my family's favorite candy finds from Five Below, in no particular order.

1. Pickle Dum Dums, $1.50

Courtesy Angel Albring

If it’s pickle-flavored, I’m interested. These Dill Pickle Dum Dums are sweet, salty and tangy, and they’re just one of many pickle finds I’ve grabbed from Five Below. They’re weird, but I love them!

2. Haribo Peaches, $1.50

Courtesy Angel Albring

Five Below has an entire wall of gummy candies, from classic mixes to animal shapes, and almost any flavor you could want, but Haribo Peaches are a forever favorite. It’s a bag of Haribo’s best flavor: soft, juicy peach gummies with that perfect sweet-tart balance.

3. Peelerz, 3 for $5

Courtesy Angel Albring

Peelerz are chewy gummy candies with a peelable outer layer and a soft center, which makes them way more fun than your average gummy. Five Below really shines here because they carry Peelerz flavors you don’t usually see elsewhere, like caramel pudding. My 10-year-old is absolutely obsessed, so these are go-to pick for birthdays, holidays and special treats.

4. Gupperz, $4

Courtesy Angel Albring

Think Gushers, but bigger and juicier. Gupperz are soft gummies filled with liquid candy, and my kids love them because there’s more "juice" in the middle and more candy in each pack. They feel like a leveled-up version of a childhood classic.

Related: Are You Pronouncing Reese’s the Wrong Way?

5. eFrutti Gummy Candy, $3

Courtesy Angel Albring

These gummies are all about fun. From mini bags of popcorn to tiny pizzas and burgers, eFrutti wants you to play with your food. The flavors are familiar and sometimes basic, if I am being honest, but the real joy is in the creative shapes and variety. These are perfect for movie nights, game nights or candy boards.

6. Pez, $2.50

Courtesy Angel Albring

Five Below goes big on Pez, with tons of character dispensers and flavor options. It’s nostalgic, collectible and still just as fun to pop candy bricks out of a dispenser as it was when you were a kid.

7. Old-school candy boxes (Runts, Bottle Caps, etc.), $1.50

Courtesy Angel Albring

This might be my favorite category. These little boxes instantly take me back to being a teenager and having movie nights with friends or stopping at the concession stand during high school football games. Five Below makes it easy to relive those memories and they still taste exactly as you remember.

8. Classic candy bars, $2.99

Courtesy Angel Albring

Five Below's candy bar selection is impressive, especially when it comes to specialty flavors. Think unique Twix, Snickers and Reese’s varieties you don’t always see at regular grocery stores, like this the Reese's Oreo mashup, all in one place.

9. Lollipops, $3

Courtesy Angel Albring

If you want a full candy-store experience, what's better for that than lollipops? Five Below delivers with huge, colorful lollipops in all shapes and sizes. It's a little hard to tell from the photo, but the ones below are about the size of a golf ball.

10. Krabby Patties gummies, $4

Courtesy Angel Albring

You don't have to go under the sea to get a Krabby Patty! These SpongeBob-inspired gummies are a big hit with my 10-year-old. The soft, stacked gummies are burger-themed, and Five Below carries a huge variety in different colors, sizes, styles and themed packs (such as the "combo meal" in a cute box) that make them extra fun to collect and eat.

Related: I Tried the Viral Brownie Cookies and They're My New Favorite Anytime Dessert

11. Zagnut and Peanut Chew, $2.99

Courtesy Angel Albring

When’s the last time you had one of these? Five Below keeps old-school favorites like Zagnut and Peanut Chew on the shelves, making it easy to rediscover candies you don’t see very often anymore.

12. Satellite Wafers, $3

Courtesy Angel Albring

These pastel flying-saucer candies are crunchy on the outside with fizzy candy beads inside. They’re light, sweet and totally retro. The texture alone brings me back, and my kids enjoy them, too.

13. Fun Works edible paper and pen, $4

Courtesy Angel Albring

Candy that doubles as an activity is always a hit with kids. You can write or draw with the "gel" pen, then eat the paper when you’re done. It’s silly, interactive and endlessly entertaining for kids. Five Below has several candies like this, but this is the one my kids like the most.

14. Slime Licker, $3

Courtesy Angel Albring

This one’s a favorite with my 11-year-old. Slime Licker is a sour liquid candy you roll onto your tongue, and Five Below usually has several flavors. It’s very kid-approved!

15. Feastables candy bars, $3

Courtesy Angel Albring

These candy bars from social media star MrBeast are my 8-year-old’s top picks. Feastables bars come in several flavors and have become a must-grab whenever we’re in the store. You can find these in some grocery stores and Target locations, but they're consistently available at Five Below.

16. Swedish-style candy, $5

Courtesy Angel Albring

Swedish candy is having a major moment, thanks to its softer textures and unique flavors. Five Below makes it easy to try the trend without having to to to a specialty shop or gamble with an online option, and they have several flavors you can choose from.

17. Freeze-dried candy, $5

Courtesy Angel Albring

I'm obsessed with freeze-dried candy. It transforms familiar favorites, like Skittles, into light, crunchy, flavor-packed bites. Five Below was one of the first places you could find this trendy treat after it blew up on TikTok.

Related: I Tried 10 Popular Mountain Dew Flavors and the Winner Was Abundantly Clear

18. Willy Wallaby, $4

Courtesy Angel Albring

These licorice bites are soft, chewy and packed with flavor. Even people who say they don’t like licorice tend to make an exception for Willy Wallaby. They're softer than traditional licorice and the flavors are amazing! Watermelon is my favorite.

19. Kinder Joy Eggs, $2.50

Courtesy Angel Albring

If you're looking for Kinder eggs, the variety here is huge. From different characters to seasonal designs, Five Below is a great place to stock up without paying premium prices.

20. Jelly beans in unusual flavors, $5

Courtesy Angel Albring

Classic jelly beans are fun, but Five Below goes further with flavors like Krispy Kreme donuts. They’re playful, unexpected and perfect for taste-testing.

Related: I Tried 8 Popular Fast-Food Hot Chocolates and the Winner Won by a Landslide

21. 15-cent candy, 10 for $1.50

Courtesy Angel Albring

You can’t beat the thrill of grabbing ultra-cheap classics, like Now and Later, Smarties and Swedish Fish. It’s the perfect place to let kids pick out a handful because there's so much variety and you know it won't break the bank. This is the first stop my 6-year-old makes when we go to Five Below.

22. Candy in tins and fun containers (Prices vary)

Courtesy Angel Albring

Last, but certainly not least, are the candy filled novelty containers. Think Smarties- or Runts-style candy, but packaged in reusable tins. The candy is good, but the container is the real draw and kids love keeping them long after the candy is gone. These cute sweets also make great party favors or stocking stuffers.

Wendy’s Goes Big With 2 Fresh Takes on Fan-Favorite Items

Wed, 02/11/2026 - 7:01am

Wendy's is giving a few beloved menu items a "bold" reimagining, and this isn't a menu drop that fans will want to miss (unless they're opposed to dairy).

The fast food giant may have made a "Biggie deal" of its new value menu, but we have a feeling fans will make an even bigger deal of the two new entrées it's debuting as soon as they're officially part of its menus.

One of the newcomers refreshes a classic Wendy's menu item that's been around since the burger joint introduced it in 1982, its Bacon Cheeseburger, and the other offers an updated way to enjoy a more recent addition: its viral chicken tenders (which have lovingly been dubbed "Wendy's Tendys"). Read on to learn more about Wendy's new Cheesy Bacon Cheeseburger and Chicken Tenders Ranch Wrap.

Wendy's Adds New Chicken Tender Wrap, Extra Cheesy Bacon Cheeseburger to Menus for Limited Time

Starting with the why, Wendy's cited its dedication to "never stop innovating on fan favorites" as key inspiration for this latest update. The company also recognizes how protein-focused fans have become and wants to highlight its extensive selection of "protein-packed" fresh, never-frozen beef and juicy all-white-meat chicken.

Related: Wendy’s Celebrates Singles With the ‘Ultimate’ Deal

Wendy's new Cheesy Bacon Cheeseburger also taps into another rising trend: melty, liquid cheese sauce, which is already taking over menus at Applebee's and Taco Bell. It starts with a quarter pound of fresh, never-frozen beef, then is topped with American cheese, three strips of Applewood-smoked bacon, and an ooey-gooey cheddar cheese sauce, and is stacked on a premium toasted bun.

And when Wendy's says "premium bun," the company means premium—and that's by no means a criticism of the OG buns; they just wouldn't be able to support the weight of the melted cheese sauce as well as the fluffier, brioche-like bread it ultimately chose to pair with this sandwich.

Wendy's new Cheesy Bacon Cheeseburger.

Wendy's

The burger is certainly one that requires at least a lap napkin, given the melty cheese sauce that's ready to drip out its sides. However, its new Chicken Tenders Ranch Wrap is perfectly suited for on-the-go enjoyment.

Related: Wendy’s to Revive This Popular Sauce in 2026: ‘Not a Drill’

Wendy's Chicken Tenders Ranch Wrap may evoke memories of a competitor's popular menu item, but there are substantial differences to consider. Most notably, instead of being snack-sized, Wendy's version is made to be a more filling meal and features two full-size, crispy, crunchy, juicy all-white meat chicken tenders that are then wrapped in a soft flour tortilla and dressed with a healthy dash of cheddar cheese, fresh lettuce and Wendy's famous ranch.

Wendy's new Chicken Tender Ranch Wrap.

W

If you prefer your ranch or cheese sauce on the side, this is Wendy's, and almost anything can be customized when placing an order in the app (or, if you ask nicely at the front counter).

As for when fans can expect to find the new Cheesy Bacon Cheeseburger and Chicken Tenders Ranch Wrap on menus, the company said both will be available at participating Wendy's locations nationwide beginning on Monday, Feb. 16, but only for a limited time (prices may vary).

Nothing says love and romance like a timeless R&B ballad. This genre has perfected a blend of musicality and emotional storytelling, delivering personal and often relatable lyrics that speak directly to the listener’s heart.

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Billboard unveiled the top 50 Greatest R&B love songs of all time, with the 2005 classic claiming the crown.

"Queen of Hip-Hop Soul" Mary J. Blige led the rankings with her hit song “Be Without You.”

Part of the award-winning singer’s seventh studio album, The Breakthrough, it was the record’s lead single with the primary lyrics and melody written by Johntá Austin.

In a separate report by Billboard, Austin told the publication that unlike other tracks that took hours or even days to compose, “Be Without You” came quickly and naturally, almost like magic.

“I hate saying all my hits came quick, but 'Be Without You' was like a 20-minute session,” he told the outlet, adding, “I don’t think [Interscope Records co-founder] Jimmy Iovine was sure about putting the record out as a single. But I remember hearing the stories about [veteran A&R] Ron Fair vouching for the record. He went in to do additional touch-ups and produced Mary’s vocals.”

He also recalled hearing Blige perfectly hitting all the right notes. At the time, he knew they had created something special.

“I wasn’t in the studio with her, but I remember hearing it for the first time,” he mentioned. “When she hit that note at the end, it’s like “Woah, we got one!” It came out crazy and the rest was history! I knew it was going to be a hit, but not at the level that it went on to become.”

The 2005 song features a signature twinkling piano melody and lyrics that explore challenges in long-term relationships.

“Be Without You” took home notable accolades including Best R&B Vocal Performance at the 2007 GRAMMY Awards and Video of the Year at the 2006 BET Awards, not to mention an impressive 15 consecutive weeks at No. 1 on Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs.

On the other hand, with Blige’s classic track owning the top spot, the ranking also includes “Sure Thing” by Miguel, “Sexual Healing” by Marvin Gaye, “Snooze” by SZA, “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston, “Let’s Stay Together” by Al Green,

“We Belong Together” by Mariah Carey, “Fortunate” by Maxwell, “Let Me Love You” by Mario and at 10th place is Keyshia Cole’s “Heaven Sent.”

Saturn in Aries Begins a Karmic Three-Year Cycle—4 Zodiac Signs Are Most Impacted

Wed, 02/11/2026 - 6:11am

A historic astrological event will take place on February 13, 2026, when Saturn enters Aries. Unlike some of the other smaller planets, such as the moon and sun, Saturn only enters a new zodiac sign once every two-and-a-half to three years. However, you’ve already gotten a taste of what’s to come, since Saturn briefly entered Aries from May 24, 2025, to September 1, 2025. Astrologers say that Saturn in Aries marks the beginning of a karmic three-year cycle that will affect each zodiac sign. The zodiac signs will have different lessons to learn, so no two star signs will go through the same karmic cycle and lessons.

All 12 astrological star signs will experience Saturn in Aries in their unique ways; however, four signs will feel its karmic influence more intensely than the others. The cardinal zodiac signs—Aries, Libra, Cancer, and Capricorn—will be the most affected and are encouraged to approach life with heightened responsibility. Read on to discover what the next three years may hold for these impacted signs.

Keep reading to learn more about how Saturn in Aries is, what this transit means in astrology, and which zodiac signs will be most impacted with horoscopes.

Saturn in Aries, Explained

According to astrology, Saturn is the great malefic and teacherplanet, meaning it teaches hard lessons. These lessons typically correspond with Saturnian themes, such as timing, restrictions, boundaries, patience, maturity, responsibility, structure, and authority. Given that these are intense lessons to learn, Saturn has a notably karmic presence both in horoscopes and in one’s birth chart.

Saturn in Aries will be extra tough because Saturn is in its fall in Aries. “Fall” suggests that the planet—Saturn—is debilitated or weakened in a zodiac sign—Aries. Since Saturn in Aries has a weaker energy, the karmic lessons and cycle will be more profound. There might be additional setbacks, delays, and consequences because Saturn isn’t operating at its highest efficiency while in Aries.

This three-year period will center around Aries’ themes: leadership, ambition, rage, independence, instincts, impulsivity, and competition. Ultimately, Saturn in Aries will have a karmic undertone of action and reaction throughout the next three years. Saturn in Aries will encourage everyone to take their time, trust their instincts, and take charge if necessary. However, Saturn in Aries will also result in lessons if we fail to rise to the occasion, leap before looking, or fall short of seeing something through.

Aries

Not being true to yourself will have repercussions, Aries. For the next three years, Saturn will be in your sign, restructuring your first house of selfhood, identity, and appearance. Usually, you’re a confident fire sign; nobody can tell what to do. However, there might be some insecurities lying beneath your otherwise self-assured exterior. Saturn in Aries encourages you to become the person you want to be, even if this means facing hardship and setbacks. Some people may not understand your personality changes or dislike how you’ve changed your appearance. Others may try to hold you back from reaching your fullest potential. Don’t let them. Saturn in Aries will reward you with genuine confidence and individuality.

Cancer

Success won’t be handed to you on a silver platter, Cancer. If anyone knows how much work goes into being accomplished, it’s you. However, you still have something left to learn with Saturn in Aries, strengthening your tenth house of legacy, reputation, and career. As you go into this karmic three-year cycle, you may feel like there’s a ton of pressure to achieve major personal and professional milestones. Perhaps you wish to start a new career path or want to be known for something impressive. Regardless of what it might be, Saturn in Aries says there won’t be instantaneous success. Saturn in Aries will teach you to believe in your skills, talents, and ambition.

Libra

Remember that you’re allowed to have “me time,” Libra. Usually, you prefer being around others as a companionship-oriented zodiac sign. Being Venusian means you’re a lover. You can still be this way, but Saturn in Aries will caution your seventh house of commitment, contract, and marriage. The next three years will help you reconnect with your sense of selfhood and identity outside of your connections and partnerships. You may initially feel guilty about taking a step back to focus on yourself. There could even be backlash, fights, and unnecessary competition from people you consider yourself close to. Although stressful, Saturn in Aries will remind you of the importance of being independent and selfish while still remaining connected.

Capricorn

Remodel your private life, Capricorn. There might be some initial resistance once Saturn in Aries puts red tape all over your fourth house of foundation, home, and family. It’s time to be honest about your family dynamics and lifestyle. You may realize that you lack boundaries in your inner world. Saturn in Aries will probably make this clear through arguments, disagreements, and frustration. Although this could feel fiery and brash, you might be ready to step into this direct energy. Let Saturn in Aries help you reclaim your life by laying down the law with your family, housemates, and even yourself. You owe it to yourself to live the life you deserve.

This Young Love Song Hit No. 1 in 1975—14 Years After Its First Chart-Topping Run

Wed, 02/11/2026 - 6:10am

Few songs capture the innocence of young love quite like “Please Mr. Postman,” a sweet plea of young love that made chart history not once, but twice.

The Carpenters topped the Billboard charts in 1975 with their version of a classic tune originally recorded by The Marvelettes. Their Motown remake captured the youthful essence of the original 60s version, but with a more mature sound.

On January 25, 1975, the duo’s remake of a song about a young girl waiting for a letter from her "boyfriend so far away" topped the charts. "Please Mr. Postman" became Karen and Richard Carpenter's 11th Top 10 single in the United States, and their final No. 1 song, according to U Discover Music.

The brother-and-sister duo had a huge catalog of original hits, but along with those came many unforgettable covers. These songs included covers of Ticket To Ride (The Beatles), "Superstar" (Leon Russell), "Solitaire" (Neil Sedaka) and "There's a Kind of Hush" (Herman's Hermits).

It was no surprise that "Please Mr. Postman" continued to retain its popularity over a decade after its initial release. When the song first hit the charts in 1961, it was not only a pop classic but also achieved another, more significant milestone.

American Songwriter reported the singing group The Marvelettes notched Motown’s first No. 1 hit on the Billboard charts in December 1961. The tune was wildly popular, remaining on the charts for six months thereafter.

Gladys Horton, Katherine Anderson, Georgeanna Tillman, Juanita Cowart, and Georgia Dobbins made up the teenage singing group. The website Classic Motown reported that the song's music and lyrics were written by William Garrett, Dobbins' friend.

Dobbins reworked the song’s lyrics, drawing from personal experience. In the book The Original Marvelettes: Motown’s Mystery Girl Group, she revealed that she was anxiously waiting for the mail carrier to deliver a letter from a young man serving in the Navy, which became the real-life inspiration for the song.

She left the group before their breakout success. Dobbins was replaced by Wanda Young before the group hit No. 1 on the charts.

Decades later, “Please Mr. Postman” remains a timeless classic, beloved for its catchy melody and relatable story of young love. Its rare achievement of topping the charts twice shows just how enduring a simple, heartfelt song can be.

’90s Boy Band’s Historic Las Vegas Sphere Run Is Coming to an End

Wed, 02/11/2026 - 6:10am

For more than two decades, the Backstreet Boys have built a career on comebacks that somehow feel bigger than the last. From sold-out world tours to festival headlining slots and surprise residencies, the group has never really leaned into nostalgia for nostalgia’s sake. Instead, they’ve consistently found ways to reintroduce themselves—often to multiple generations at once.

That instinct is exactly what made their Into the Millennium residency at the Las Vegas Sphere feel like more than a throwback. Revisiting Millennium—the album that helped define late-’90s pop—inside one of the most technologically ambitious venues ever built was always going to be ambitious. What no one fully anticipated was just how quickly the shows would sell out, how dramatically resale prices would climb, or how firmly the residency would position itself as one of the Sphere’s defining early runs.

For the band, the decision to bring Millennium to Sphere was about pushing themselves into unfamiliar territory. “We’re always looking forward to what’s next,” Nick Carterpreviously told Parade. “Sphere was going to elevate our show to this next stratosphere, so to speak, and every single time we get up on the stage, we’re like, ‘Wow, this is incredible!’”

Howie Dorough echoed that sentiment, reflecting on how far the group’s Vegas journey has come: “Planet Hollywood was our first residency, and we were so honored. For us to come to Vegas was amazing the first time. And so for us to think about coming back to Vegas, there was always an underlying thought, like, ‘How do we top what we did before?’ And I don’t think we get any better than doing the Sphere.”

The Sphere itself has quickly become a modern proving ground for legacy artists willing to rethink what a live show can be. In 2026 alone, the venue is stacked with residencies and limited runs from some of the biggest names in music. The Eagles continue their extended Sphere run into early 2026, while pop icons likeJennifer Lopez and rock veterans including No Doubt are set to bring their catalogs into the immersive space later in the year. What began as a curiosity is quickly becoming one of the most prestigious stages in live entertainment.

That context makes the Backstreet Boys’ latest announcement land with extra weight. The group has confirmedfour final Sphere shows—February 11, 13, 14, and 15, 2026—officially bringing their Millennium residency to a close. Rather than stretching the run indefinitely, the band is ending it while demand remains sky-high, cementing the residency as a moment rather than letting it fade into routine.

Inside the venue, the show has leaned fully into the Sphere’s strengths. The band performs Millennium in full, surrounded by massive, custom visuals that wrap the audience, before launching into a run of fan favorites like “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back),” “The Call" and “As Long As You Love Me.” It’s part nostalgia, part spectacle—and a reminder that pop acts from the ’90s don’t need to scale down to stay relevant.

The Sphere farewell doesn’t mean they're slowing down anytime soon. After wrapping in Las Vegas, the Backstreet Boys will headline the BottleRock Napa Valley over Memorial Day weekend, bringing their catalog to one of the country’s most high-profile festival stages. Later in 2026, they’ll head to Europe for Into the Millennium HOMECOMING, a limited German residency that marks their first shows in the country that embraced them before the rest of the world caught on.

For fans, these final Sphere dates aren’t just another concert announcement. They’re the closing chapter of one of the most talked-about residencies of the venue’s early era—and a last chance to see a defining ’90s pop group fully reimagined inside one of the most groundbreaking music spaces ever built, before they move confidently into whatever comes next.

Angelina Jolie Opens up About Scars From 2013 Double Mastectomy: ‘I Love My Scars'

Wed, 02/11/2026 - 5:57am

It's been over a decade since Angelina Jolieunderwent a double mastectomy and she says she's come to love the scars that were left behind.

The iconic actress and philanthropist, 50, underwent the surgery in 2013, several years after her mother, actress Marcheline Bertrand, died amid her battle with cancer. For Jolie, who was at high risk of developing breast cancer due to the BRCA1 gene, the surgery gave her the chance to live a long, fulfilling life.

Although it was a challenging moment in her life, Jolie now says the scars from the surgery represent her strong will to live and be there for her children for years to come.

"I've always been someone more interested in the scars and the life that people carry. I'm not drawn to some perfect idea of a life that has no scars," she shared in an interview with French Inter published on Monday (Feb. 9).

🎬 SIGN UP for Parade’s Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬

She continued, "I see my scars are a choice I made to do what I could do to stay here as long as I could with my children. I love my scars because of that, you know, and I'm grateful that I had the opportunity to have the choice to do something proactive about my health. I lost my mom when I was young, and I'm raising my children without a grandmother."

Jolie went on to reflect on how the different scars that people gain throughout life represent a life full of different experiences and challenges that were overcome.

"I think this is life. And if you get to the end of your life and you haven't...made mistakes, you haven't made a mess, you don't have scars, you haven't lived a full enough life, I think," Jolie concluded.

Back in December 2025, Jolie showed off her mastectomy scars for the first time while advocating for breast cancer awareness.

“I share these scars with many women I love,” she told TIME France. “And I’m always moved when I see other women share theirs.”
