Golden Retriever Crowned 'Pet of the Month' at Apartment Complex and the Photo Is the Best

Thu, 03/26/2026 - 9:09am

There are a lot of deserving pets in the world, but every now and then, one comes along who was clearly born for public recognition. That is exactly the case with Honey, a Golden Retriever who was once crowned Pet of the Month at her apartment complex and, judging by the photo, took the honor exactly as seriously as she should have.

The video begins with the caption, “That one time Honey was Pet of the Month at our apartment complex.” Already, incredible. Then the camera pans from Honey herself to the framed pet-of-the-month photo, and honestly, it is everything. Not good. Not cute. Perfect. The kind of picture that makes you stop and wonder whether this dog has a manager, a publicist, and a standing glam appointment every other Thursday.

@honeycertifiedgoodgirl

She was so proud 🥹 #petofthemonth #goldenretrieverlife #dogsoftiktok #therapydogsoftiktok #cutegoldenretriever

The post caption says, “She was so proud 🥹” and you know what, she absolutely should have been. Honey is not just sitting there looking nice. She looks like she understood the assignment, reviewed the criteria, and delivered an award-winning headshot with full confidence in her star power. One commenter nailed it with, “Omg how does she have a perfect pet of the month pic😭❤️” That is the question, truly. Some pets get caught mid-blink. Some get a blurry action shot. Honey apparently showed up with a finished portfolio.

And the more you know about her, the more it makes sense. The TikTok page intro reads, “Hi 👋🏼 🐾 I’m Honey, the certified therapy dog! You can just call me the certified ‘good girl’ though 🐶👑 I like going to work with my mom and treats!” I mean, come on. A certified therapy dog with a perfect pet-of-the-month portrait? That is not just a resident. That is the mayor of the building.

What makes this clip so shareable is that it is funny, wholesome, and weirdly aspirational all at once. Everyone wants to be as photogenic, accomplished, and effortlessly beloved as Honey. She's the kind of dog who does not just win Pet of the Month. She makes it feel like the award was created for her specifically.

And let’s be honest, Golden Retrievers already have a reputation for being walking sunshine. Add therapy dog status, apartment-complex celebrity, and a headshot that belongs in a lobby gallery, and you have the kind of content people cannot resist. Honey is not just a good girl. She is a decorated professional with community impact and a face card that never declines.

Celebrate the Good Dogs in Your Life

Part of why Honey’s moment hits so hard is because it taps into something people love, celebrating the everyday joy pets bring to shared spaces and daily routines. A dog who is friendly, comforting, and part of the community becomes more than just a pet. They become part of what makes a place feel warm. The AKC notes that dogs thrive on connection, routine, and positive interaction, and that is part of why little moments of recognition can feel so meaningful.

Honestly, Honey did not win Pet of the Month; Pet of the Month won Honey.

Rare Bengal-Maine Coon’s Outside Time Is Total Tiger Vibes

Thu, 03/26/2026 - 9:00am

Most cats really feel like they would not last even a few days in the wild. They just can't do anything on their own, it seems, and that's exactly how we like them. After all, they're our babies! We need them to need us! Independence means less snuggle time.

For some cats, though, it really seems like they were made for the wild. Just look at this Bengal-Maine Coon mix! He got to go outside, and he literally looks like a little tiger. He could definitely rule the jungle:

♬ Here Comes the Sun - Acoustic Duo

Neville the Bengal-Maine Coon is one of the most beautiful cats ever. Even beyond the fact that they're having outside time, and he looks like a wild animal, he's wearing a medium cat harness. He's almost outgrown it, and he's only 6 months old!

Neville is living in the UK with his mom. He's so beautiful! He's a mix of two very adventurous breeds, so he needs a lot of adventure to stay happy. Luckily, winter is just about over, and his mom loves taking him out! The world deserves to see how beautiful he is.

His favorite thing to do is go outside in the grass; there's so much to see and smell there. Plus, there are some trees he can climb. Since he's leashed up every time he goes outside, he can pretty much go wherever he'd like. Mom will be there every time:

How to Keep Bengal-Maine Coons Happy

Good luck getting your hands on a Bengal-Maine Coon: they're incredibly rare, and for good reason. These cats, if you're not careful, can be overwhelming and really tough to care for. This is a breed that needs a very experienced family.

If you have a Bengal-Maine Coon, you need to have several ways for them to get as much enrichment as possible. These things might include:

  • A wheel for them to run on during independent play.
  • Toys for them to chase.
  • Setting up foraging games with treats.
  • If possible, supervised, safe outside time.

Neville the Bengal-Maine Coon gets everything he needs and more. When you're that handsome, it's tough not to get what you want!

iShowSpeed Enters a Rare Bark-Off With a Corgi, and the Winner Is Hilarious

Thu, 03/26/2026 - 7:48am

Dogs have proven over and over again that they can be celebrities all on their own. When popular streamer iShowSpeed came up to a corgi at a stadium event, the hilarious encounter showed that the corgi became the star everyone wanted to see instead. What started as a joke with the celebrity streamer coming up to the corgi turned into a full-on competition.

Speed published the video on his own YouTube channel. In the video, we see how the popular influencer noticed a corgi barking. He moves toward it, and we see a corgi in a dog backpack giving his opinion.

🐾 SIGN UP to get “pawsitivity” delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾

Speed locks eyes with the dog and then barks back. The corgi doesn’t pull back. Instead, it turns into a barking competition. It stops barking when Speed noticed there was a corgi race and turned his attention toward it.

The video is just another example of how dogs are incredibly responsive to tone and energy. A loud, excited human doesn’t just get noticed. They invite interaction. That’s exactly what happens here. The corgi doesn’t hesitate. It matches Speed's intensity, turning a random moment into something playful.

What Are Fans Saying About It?

iShowSpeed is one of the most popular influencers in recent years, and he has plenty of fans. Some of his fans thought he won, saying, “Dog was humbled by speed” and “Once again speed proved.”

But the dog had their own fan club as well. Fans said things like, “You gotta pet the dog after barking otherwise it is just rude” and “When you press the like button on the video, it becomes a paw print.”

One fan joked that Speed can talk with animals, saying, “Speed is the only one who can communicate with other animals.”

Are Corgis Friendly With Strangers?

Corgis are known for being social. They were originally bred as herding dogs, which means they’re alert, confident and quick to engage. Many corgis are comfortable around strangers, especially in lively environments, but they also tend to have strong personalities.

Their behavior often shows up in moments like this one. The corgi doesn’t shy away from a new person making noise. It responds, participates and holds its ground.

For herding dogs like corgis, early socialization is key. A well-socialized corgi is more likely to see strangers as something interesting rather than threatening.

What Makes This Moment Special?

This is more about a person barking at a dog. It’s the balance. The corgi isn’t overwhelmed. The human isn’t holding back. They meet in the middle, each reacting to the other in real time.

Underneath the humor, the video taps into something familiar. There is a strange, playful language that exists between humans and dogs, and sometimes, barking back just makes sense.

'Traumatized' Foster Dog Starts Coming Out of Her Shell and We're Melting

Thu, 03/26/2026 - 7:10am

Well-known animal advocate Isabel Klee recently found a forever home for her most recent foster dog, a Shih-Tzu named Raven. Never going a long time between fosters, Klee just took in an adorable pooch named Marmie, who is dealing with substantial trauma. With the help of her dog, Simon, Klee is getting Marmie acclimated to her new surroundings with gentleness and patience.

The foster mom's dedication is starting to pay off, as the canine cutie is finally letting her guard down.

In the TikTok from @simonsits, Klee was outside in her yard with Marmie and Simon with the onscreen text sharing, "The first day with our traumatized foster dog." While Simon relaxed under a chair, Marmie enjoyed a comfy lounger.

"She seems to be finding her inner zen — Are you relaxing a little bit?" Klee asked Marmie as she gently petted her head. "I can tell you're getting a little sleepy."

A few moments later, Marmie sat on Klee's lap and gave her some kisses. Klee was delighted at the affectionate gesture, knowing it was a good sign of Marmie opening up.

When they were all back in the house, Marmie gladly accepted more affection from Klee and even chewed on some toys. Klee petted Simon at the same time as Marmie to prevent any potential jealousy on the foster dog's part. As always, Simon was happy to share the spotlight. Marmie felt so relaxed, she rolled on her side so Klee could give her a belly rub.

Marmie Started To Feel at Home

Klee gave Marmie some medication to help her relax and noted the stress the little canine carried. The foster mom wasn't surprised that Marmie needed time and patience to get settled.

"I don't blame her for the state that she's in," Klee shared. "It is going to take time for a dog like this to feel safe and feel secure and let her guard down. But now anytime she hears a noise, she jumps out of her skin. She's just petrified."

When it was bedtime, Marmie "freaked out" when Klee tried to put her in her crate, but soon went back in and fell asleep.

The animal advocate was pleased with how Marmie progressed throughout the day. "You can literally see her get more and more comfortable by the hour," Klee shared in the caption.

With this seasoned foster mom and Simon by her side, Marmie is definitely on the path to a better life.

Golden Retriever Puppy Does the Cutest 'Tippy Taps' After Seeing His Reflection for First Time

Thu, 03/26/2026 - 6:26am

If you’ve ever had the experience of passing a mirror and mistaking your own reflection for someone else, you’re in good company. Dogs can’t recognize a reflection in a mirror as their own. Instead, dogs either ignore their reflection altogether or think their reflection is actually another dog. Reefy, a delightful Golden Retrieverpuppy, is the star of a social media video that just crossed our TikTok feed. The little guy does the cutest tippy-tap dance when he sees his reflection for the first time, and then the fun begins.

Keep reading to see Reefy’s reflection video and how the gorgeous Golden Retriever is tippy-tapping his way to social media stardom.

In a video shared to social media, Reefy can be seen happening upon a full-length mirror for the very first time. The Golden Retriever pup approaches his reflection with caution, not sure how another dog got in the house. Apprehensively, Reefy moves closer, even grazing the mirror, before tippy-tapping his way toward and away from it.

With each move, the Golden Retriever grows more wary, perplexed by the dog in his view. Reefy wags his tail in curiosity while growling at the unknown pup, confused as to why his reflection isn’t making any sounds and looks just like him.

Social media commenters are giving this precious puppy a digital round of applause, with one writing, “The tippy taps,” while another adds, “Okay, so this is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.”

Many commenters commended the dog’s “bravery.” After all, we humans may know the puppy in the mirror is harmless, but for Reefy, the unknown dog is as terrifying as it is handsome.

Thanks for making our day, Reefy.

6 Colors Dogs Secretly Hate and Why, According to a Trainer

Thu, 03/26/2026 - 5:10am

You may be over beige, gray and all the other dull, neutral tones that have dominated interior design over the years, which is why your home might now include bright, bold and vibrant colors. But if you’re a pet parent, have you ever wondered whether your color choices could affect your dog’s comfort, behavior, or mood? Or have you ever thought to yourself, "Do dogs dislike certain colors?" The answer is yes! Keep reading to discover 6 colors dogs secretly hate, why some shades can trigger dog anxiety, and why a professional dog trainer says this happens.

Experts note that some colors can be overwhelming for dogs that many pet owners are unaware of. “Some dogs are more sensitive to their environment and might dislike certain color contrasts, brightness, or highly stimulating colors,” says Annie-Mae Levy, CFBA, professional dog trainer at Woofz, a puppy and dog training app. Understanding which colors dogs find stressful or anxiety-inducing can help you create a more dog-friendly home that both you and your pup can enjoy.

Find out a dog trainer's advice on what colors you should avoid that can cause your dog stress and also learn a few colors that dogs love and makes them feel happy. You may be surprised to discover what they are. See if you have any of these hues in your home!

Can Dogs See Colors?

Even though you've probably heard that dogs are colorblind, Levy says that is not exactly true. She explains that the way dogs perceive color is different from humans, which is why certain colors may cause stress or anxiety in dogs more than others. “Dogs are dichromatic, meaning they have fewer color-detecting cells than the human eye,” Levy reveals. "This means they see blues and yellows similarly, whereas reds and greens appear more brownish to them.”

Colors That Trigger Anxiety and Stress in Dogs A dog feeling stressed because of the colors in a blanket.

So, do dogs dislke certain colors? Levy says dogs may be a bit more sensitive to certain hues, which can cause them stress or to be uncomfortable if a space is completely that shade. Knowing this information can help you curate your home so you and your pet both adore it. If you're concerned your pup gets easily overstimulated, you may wish to avoid these colors dogs secretly hate. Find out what they are below!

1. Red

For humans, red can be jarring and signal power, passion or that it's time to stop. However, dogs see this color differently. "Dogs are unable to process the color red in the same way as we are," Levy explains. "This appears as more of a brown to them."

Even this muted hue can stress dogs out or cause anxiety when it contrasts sharply with other colors. For example, a bright red throw pillow on a violet comforter may create a stark contrast that disorients a dog—even if we love the way the colors look together. Such high-contrast colors can trigger dog stress, making them uneasy in the environment.

2. Bright Orange

What colors stress dogs out? Bright orange is one! This is one color that many dogs dislike or that can cause anxiety in dogs, similar to red. It may be an issue around Halloween, in the fall (if you're covering your home in foliage-style decorations) or if you're a massive fan of Clemson or Syracuse.

"Orange for dogs would be a slightly lighter shade of brown than red," Levy says. Even so, bright orange can be distracting or stressful for dogs, especially when paired with cooler colors. For dogs who are sensitive to high-contrast color combinations, these bold hues may trigger dog stress or unease in the environment.

3. Bright Green

Bright green can appear to dogs as a yellowish tone, which may make it stand out more sharply against duller shades or muted colors. "It could contrast with other duller shades and colors more dramatically," Levy explains. “For some dogs who are sensitive to color contrasts, this might be slightly aversive."

Still, Levy cautions that the sensitivity isn't 100% accurate, so consider other aspects of a pet's environment, like a dish that's harder to reach because you moved a couch. Recent changes, such as a new person in the home or health issues, can also cause behavioral shifts.

Related: A Trainer Reveals 8 Signs Your Dog Feels Relaxed, Happy and at Peace With You

4. Black and White Contrast

It may surprise you that black and white make the list of colors dogs dislike. For starters, it's such a timeless combination. Also, black and white is one of the most engaging contrasts for human babies. But alas, pets are not actually our human babies (we may just dote on them as if they are!).

Levy says the issue here is with the stark contrast of the colors, which dogs can find stressful or anxiety-inducing. "Any kind of color contrasting pattern for most dogs is likely to blend into the background of their everyday life," Levy explains. "It might be possible for some dogs to be more sensitive to this than duller, continuous colors."

For dogs who are sensitive to high-contrast colors, such patterns can trigger stress, whch is why understanding how color affects dog behavior can help pet owners create a calmer environment for ther furry family member so they feel happier and more calm.

5. Neon Pink/Fluorescent Pink

Neon or fluorescent pink can make a bold statement in your home—but for some dogs, these bright, high-intensity colors can be anxiety-inducing. In fact, dog often prefer more muted tones, and extremely vibrant colors may feel overwhelming or disorienting to them.

"Some people suggest that a pastel pink or duller shade of this color might be more calming for dogs than the brighter alternative, Levy says. "Ultimately, we can’t know for sure at the moment, but this might be an interesting new area of research in the future."

For dog owners, choosing calmer, softer colors can help create a more relaxing environment.

6. Fluorescent Yellow

When it comes to colors dogs don't like, experts say yellow is one. While bright colors can be fun for humans, fluorescent yellow may be one of the most stimulating colors for dogs—and for some, even stressful to be around. Why? "Dogs can actually see yellow very clearly," Levy reveals. "It’s possible that this is one of their most stimulating colors, as it would appear bright to them."

Some dogs may enjoy yellow more than others, but high-intensity yellow can be overwhelming or disorienting, especially for dogs sensitive to bright, high-contrast colors. Pet owners should observe their dog’s reactions and consider other environmental factors that may contribute to dog stress or anxiety, such as recent changes in the home or health

Dog-Friendly Colors That Can Reduce Stress and Anxiety

Choosing the right colors in your home isn’t just about style, it can also influence your dog’s mood and comfort. Certain calming colors can help reduce stress and anxiety in dogs, making your space feel more relaxing and safe for your furry friend. So, what colors do dogs like? Below are a few to consider.

Soft Blue

What's a color dogs like? Soft blues! Dogs like blue tones because they are soothing for many dogs and can help create a relaxing home environment. Blue is one of the colors dogs see well, making it less likely to cause stress or anxiety.

Muted Green

Muted greens are another color dogs like since they mimic natural outdoor environments, which can make dogs feel safe and comfortable. This color is less stimulating and can help reduce dog stress in busy or brightly decorated rooms.

Lavender

IIf you want ot add color to your home and you have a dog, consider gong with a soft lavender or light purple tones as they are calming and gentle for dogs. These shades are visually subtle, reducing the likelihood of high-contrast stress or anxiety, and can help create a peaceful home environment.

This Cat’s Dreamy Aqua-Teal Eyes Have Everyone Mesmerized

Wed, 03/25/2026 - 9:55pm

I’d argue that every cat is cute and beautiful in their own way. But then there are cats like this one, who stop you mid-scroll and make you do a double-take.

A white cat named Looney Tunes is currently capturing hearts over on Reddit after her photos were shared in the community r/SupermodelCats—and it’s not hard to see why.

🐶SIGN UP to get “pawsitivity” delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾🐾

Those eyes are something else. Described by commenters as “aqua-teal,” “jade” and “fairy-like,” Looney Tunes’ eye color sits somewhere between green, blue and a tropical ocean on its best day. It’s the kind of shade you don’t just notice, but find yourself almost unable to look away from.

People Are Mesmerized

Redditors quickly took to the comment section to express their amazement at Looney Tunes' beautiful eye color.

One commenter said, “Wow, those are the most beautiful eyes I've seen on a cat and I'm biased because I think both of my cats have beautiful eyes. Just gorgeous!!”

Others were equally captivated, with one writing, “The color is stunning 😍 I would spend my days taking pictures 📸📷.”

And apparently, that’s exactly what their human does. The original poster replied, “Lol I do! I spend my days making more and more unhinged noises so that she looks at me. I've desensitized her to the pspspsppsspss. (Relatable.)

What's more, the personality behind those eyes sounds just as charming. When another commenter called the cat “gorgeous,” the cat's parent responded: “She knows it too…she’s the princess of my house and snuggle queen.”

Beautiful, a diva and a cuddle bug? Elite combo.

Between the soft white coat, pink nose and those glowing ocean eyes, it’s no surprise Looney Tunes fits right in with the “supermodel” crowd online.

Is This Eye Color Common for Cats?

This eye color is not common for cats, and that’s part of what makes this kitty so striking.

Most cats have eye colors that fall into familiar categories like yellow, amber, green or blue. But sometimes, lighting, pigmentation and genetics combine to create shades that look more unusual, like this aqua-teal tone.

In white cats especially, eye color can appear more vivid or unique because there’s no darker fur to contrast or “dull” the effect.

Looney Tunes' eye color is just one of those rare combinations that makes a cat feel a little extra magical.

Happy Akita Shows Off Hilarious Running Form and Everyone Loves It: 'He's Got His Own Style'

Wed, 03/25/2026 - 8:41pm

The thing about dogs that’s just entirely too difficult to get over is how dang cute and funny they can be. Whether they’re the type to express their personality with no filter or let little quirks slip out over time, chances are when it happens you’ll wish you had your phone ready to record.

That’s exactly what happened when one ecstatic Akita pup decided to put its unusual running form on full display, trotting up a driveway toward the cameraman. With a series of head-scratching front leg movements and an almost skipping stride as it made its way to its owner, you can’t help but wonder where in the world this adorable pup learned how to run.

This Pup’s Stride Has Everyone Cracking Up

“Who taught you to run this way?” u/Josee_888 captioned their Reddit pos, which quickly racked up over 1,200 upvotes as delighted viewers chimed in about just how funny the pup’s running style is.

“He’s got his own style,” one person wrote. “Is this how dogs skip?” another joked.

Some viewers even offered their own theories. One noted that their own Akita “used to high step it like this when the ground was wet,” adding, “he hated getting wet, lol. I think that’s what this little guy is doing.”

And they might be onto something. The video, only 15 seconds long, doesn’t show what happened before the cameraman hit record, but the driveway is clearly littered with puddles. Knowing the quirky personalities Akitas are known for, it’s easy to believe this unorthodox running style was simply an effort to keep those cute little paws dry.

“Love how he stops and changes direction to avoid the puddle,” another viewer chimed in. “Prance prance prance prance prance ‘oops, puddle puddle puddle, okay!’ prance prance prance,” another narrated. “I love this dog breed. They are so smart and so goofy at the same time.”

If You Know Akitas, This Kind of Quirk Isn’t Surprising

While Akitas aren’t your typical goofy, always-on dogs, don’t let that fool you, they certainly have a way of letting their quirks run free. Generally known for being calm, reserved and incredibly loyal, Akitas often form strong bonds with their families while still remaining a very independent breed, which can lead to some pretty unexpected moments of personality.

In fact, it’s that independent streak that’s responsible for many of their quirks. Akitas are super smart and strong-willed, which means they’ll play, run or simply respond to you in ways that feel uniquely their own. Sometimes stubborn, sometimes unexpectedly funny, it’s a “you get what you get” type of situation that varies from pup to pup, and moments like this—with a hilarious Akita trotting up a wet driveway—are when that personality really shines.

If you liked this video, watch this cute Frenchie refuse to back down from a fight with a hose. And while you’re at it, check out this silly pup’s mall showdown after swiping a toy from the store.

Tabby Kitten Steals an Entire Pound Cake Like a Tiny Cat Burglar

Wed, 03/25/2026 - 8:20pm

You think you know what your cat is capable of until you leave something out for 5 seconds and suddenly it becomes a full heist situation. Not a nibble. Not a polite investigation. A full commitment.

Because once the idea enters their brain, it is already over.

@miameema

♬ Monkeyshine-JP - Lt FitzGibbons Men

TikTok user @miameema shared the crazy moment their tiny Tabby kitten somehow gets his whole mouth around an entire plastic container of cake and just… goes for it. No hesitation. No plan. Just vibes and poor decision-making.

He grabs it, lifts it, cannot see where he is going, and still commits to the journey, anyway. At one point, he drops it, regroups, and continues like this is a completely reasonable thing to be doing with his day.

Related: Great Dane and Tabby Cat Are the Cutest Snack-Stealing Partners in Crime

People in the comments were deeply entertained and also a little impressed by this Tabby kitten. One person asked, “What does he even plan to do with that?” which is a great question because there is no world in which this ends neatly.

Another wrote, “I love when cats grab something so big they can’t see in front of them and they just kinda glitch,” which is exactly what is happening here. Just a full system overload, but still moving forward.

Some people fully supported the mission, like, “You know what, I DO deserve a little sweet treat,” and “God forbid someone wants a snack,” which honestly feels like the kitten’s internal monologue.

Others related a little too hard, with comments like, “My cat will eat bread from the toaster,” and “ANGEL FOOD CAKE?! My cat goes CRAZY for angel food cake, and I never thought I would see another one,” which is both comforting and slightly concerning.

And then there was, “When the catnip munches kick in,” which… yeah, that tracks.

Also, quick aside, Meatball (my Maine Coon cat) once tried to drag an entire loaf of bread off the counter and looked personally offended when I intervened, so this feels very on-brand for the species.

How To Keep Cats off Kitchen Counters Maine Coon on a kitchen counter.

Image Via: Pixel-Shot/Shutterstock

If your cat has decided your kitchen counters are their personal playground, you are definitely not alone. Kitties are naturally curious and love high places, especially when those places involve food or interesting smells.

Training them to stay off counters takes consistency and a little patience. One common method is using deterrents like double-sided tape or aluminum foil on surfaces, which many cats dislike walking on.

Some pet parents also use a spray bottle as a quick correction, though it is important to avoid creating fear and instead redirect your kitty to acceptable spaces like cat trees or designated perches.

Keeping counters clean and free of food can also reduce the temptation, although, as this Tabby cat has proven, sometimes the curiosity alone, plus a delicious cake, is enough.

Newfoundlands Frolicking in a Field Look Just Like Clumsy Toddlers

Wed, 03/25/2026 - 7:55pm

Not all dogs are beauty and grace, and that's OK. I think the ones who are silly, goofy, and a little chaotic have an uncanny ability to remind us not to take life so seriously all the time. And the bigger the breed, the funnier some of their "athletic" attempts become.

One Newfoundland crew is the epitome of giving it your all, even if you're a little clumsy!

When you're a gentle giant who's "100% speed and 3% coordination," you're bound to trip over yourself once in a while. The video shows one sweet Newfoundland so excited to frolic in the field that he trips over his own paws, does a hilarious gymnastics tumble, and plays it off like nothing happened. I don't think I could look nearly as cool as this, so well played!

The clip resonated with a few of the family's devoted fans, with some noting how relatable the whole scene feels.

"We've all been there," one fan wrote. "Just laughed so hard, literally my life right now," another joked.

When it comes to coordination and agility, it probably won't surprise you to know that the clumsy toddler comparison is a real, everyday thing. The big, tender-hearted pups try their best, but there are some things they can't seem to nail—but they're all the more adorable, anyway!

Every Newfie I've seen has had at least one clumsy moment, and as it turns out, it's a breed thing. These big cutie-pies have a lot going for them. They're affectionate, devoted, and docile guardians, but coordination isn't one of their best traits.

Newfoundlands are slow to mature, with puppyhood lasting until around 3 years old. That means their bodies get bigger before they're mentally in the same place. With their epic zoomies and random bursts of energy, don't be surprised if they knock things over or trip on their own paws!

All of that said, you couldn't ask for a better companion for families with children. These "nanny dogs" will be their best friends and your favorite furry comedians. Is there anything funnier than watching the clumsy ones fumble and recover like a pro (no)?!

German Shepherd-Chow Chow Mix Looks Like a Living Stuffed Animal With Toffee-Caramel Fur

Wed, 03/25/2026 - 7:20pm

Every once in a while, you see a dog, and your brain immediately goes… wait, that’s real? Because Dottie here looks less like an actual dog and more like something you would win at a carnival and refuse to put down for emotional reasons.

Her fur is this perfect toffee-caramel swirl situation, all fluffy and soft-looking, like if a scoop of ice cream became sentient and also had opinions. 10/10 would cuddle.

The adorable video was shared by the TikTok account @ohmydottie, where Dottie’s dog mom explains that for the longest time, they were not exactly sure what breed she was.

They had guesses. Suspicions. A vague sense that she might be a little bit of everything.

But then one of Dottie’s brothers from the same litter got a DNA test, and suddenly everything made sense.

German Shepherd. Chow Chow. That’s it.

No mystery third breed. No secret ingredient. Just two already iconic dogs combining forces to create this fluffy, slightly confused masterpiece.

At one point, her mom looks at her and asks, “Are you happy?” and Dottie just stares back with that classic German Shepherd side-eye like… I will not be answering that at this time.

The comments were exactly what you would expect.

“She’s 100 percent adorable.”

“And literally the cutest dog I’ve ever seen!”

“Well, she’s got the German Shepherd side-eye down!!”

And yup, yes. The side-eye is doing a lot of work here.

Here's What a German Shepherd-Chow Chow Mix Could Be Like @csantana0603

♬ Holy Crap, It's Snowing! - The Cog Is Dead

A German Shepherd-Chow Chow mix brings together two very distinct personalities and physical traits, which is why dogs like Dottie can be so unique.

German Shepherds are known for being intelligent, loyal, and highly trainable. They often form strong bonds with their families and tend to be very aware of what is going on around them, which is where that iconic side-eye comes in.

Chow Chows, on the other hand, are famous for their thick, plush coats and more independent personalities. They can be a bit reserved, sometimes even described as cat-like, but are deeply devoted to their people in their own quiet way.

Put the two together, and you often get a dog who is loyal but a little selective, affectionate but also slightly mysterious, and very, very fluffy.

And if you are lucky, you also get that unbelievable toffee-caramel coat that makes people stop doomscrolling and go… hold on, I need to look at that again.

Rare 'Two-Faced' Ragdoll Cat Is the Prettiest 'Girly Girl' Around

Wed, 03/25/2026 - 6:55pm

When you're a girly girl, you can appreciate the finer things in life. Self-care looks like a luxurious spa day, a trip to the salon, and maybe even enjoying a little catnip!

Pebbles can confirm that it's important to make time for yourself with a little grooming sesh. The ultra-rare chimera Ragdoll loves it when Mom joins in the ritual of brushing her fur, resulting in a spontaneously bonding activity!

The 5-year-old's unique split-face coloring blows other cats out of the water. Between the tangerine tint speckled with black "face paint" on one side, and more of a solid ebony on the other, she looks like two completely different cats in one! She's a real stunner and other kitties should be jealous (I am)!

And don't even get me started on her crystal-blue eyes. How can one feline be so lucky in the genes department?! What a blessing Pebbles is for all of us to admire!

♬ Only You X Playdate - 𝖈𝖆𝖊𝖗⛧ How Rare Are Chimera Cats?

Pebbles is a chimera Ragdoll, referring to the "split-face" color palette. These very rare felines are only 1% or less of the entire cat population! I guess you could call them the lucky charms of pets.

But what causes this gorgeous bicolor color "accident?" As experts explain, it happens when two separate embryos fuse together in the womb. Pebbles has a more obvious coloring, but there are plenty of kitties who are considered chimera with more subtle markings. It can only be officially confirmed with genetic testing.

None of this affects a cat's health, so don't worry. And if you have a male Tortie or Calico, they could very well be chimera, but only 1 in every 3,000 of these boys is truly chimera.

Regardless of what other felines look like, Pebbles is the gold standard for beauty, and no, she will not be doing autographs at this time!

Fluffy Mini Cow Excitedly Gallops Outside As He Enjoys the First Days of Spring

Wed, 03/25/2026 - 6:31pm

Even if winter is still lingering where you live, there are signs of spring everywhere. The days are getting longer, the sun is beginning to thaw the freeze of this seriously cold winter, and spring is in the air. If you’re like us, you can’t wait to get outside at the first signs of spring. Even if it’s still chilly, it feels so good to get out on a crisp spring day. Animals, like Highland Mini Cows, are no different. When spring is in the air, animals want to get outside as soon as possible too.

In a seriously adorable video that crossed our TikTok feed, posted by Circle of Highlands in Tennessee, one ebullient Mini Cow named Sprinkles can be seen making the most of the first signs of spring. Galloping like a horse, Sprinkles clearly has spring fever. The post is captioned:

“Sprinkles, the adorable Mini Highland Cow, is having a fantastic time basking in the warm Tennessee sunshine. Known for their sweet disposition and fluffy coats, Mini Highland Cows like Sprinkles are a delightful addition to any farm. Sprinkles loves to explore the lush green fields and bask in the sun, showcasing the simple joys of farm life.”

Known for its long shaggy coat and impressive horns, it is incredibly resilient to harsh climates. These animals are famous for their gentle temperament and iconic appearance. Because they enjoy interacting with people, they are often described as “dogs in cow form.” The long fringe that falls over their eyes is called a “dossan,” which helps protect them from wind, rain, and insects. Noodle the Frenchie Has the Cutest Habit for Bath Time Anxiety, and We’re Obsessed

Wed, 03/25/2026 - 4:48pm

Some dogs panic when they enter the bathroom for bath time. Sure, some dogs enjoy it, but others may have to find ways to deal with the anxiety it brings up. For any pet parent with an anxious dog, it's a win just to get through bath time.

In a video shared on the social media platform Reddit, we see a French bulldog who clearly is not a fan of bath time. He is not thrilled about it, that much is clear. However, he copes in a way that keeps him calm, present and manageable—and it's adorable.

In the video, we see the Frenchie trying to lick the drops of water on the shower glass. It is a small moment, but it shows that sometimes dogs find their own unique way to cope with something they may not be entirely comfortable with.

What Are Fans Saying About It?

Fans loved how calm and relaxed Noodle looks in the video. One person commented, “Licking his anxiety away.” One fan jokingly said Noodle might have seen a video about a lick mat and tried to do it too. The commenter wrote, “I think he saw a tik tok where people put peanut butter on the glass.” In this case, there was no lick mat, but Noodle licked anyway to calm himself down.

A couple of fans commented on how beautiful he is, saying, “Oh that tongue! Love it! Your baby is so adorable.”

One fan wanted to try this shower trick with her own pup. She said, “Omg my girl hates baths so much maybe I should try showering her!” Noodle’s dad explained that his French bulldog was never a fan of baths, but enjoyed the shower.

Why Do Dogs Hate Bath Time?

For many dogs, baths feel unnatural from the start. Water changes how their fur feels and moves. The sound of running water can be loud and unpredictable. The tub itself is slippery, which makes it hard for them to feel stable. Add in unfamiliar smells from shampoos and soaps, and the whole experience can quickly become overwhelming.

We also have to take into consideration past associations. For example, a rescue dog might link bathing with stress from earlier experiences. Even if nothing bad is happening now, their body remembers the feeling.

How to Help Dogs Cope With Anxiety During a Bath

Small adjustments can make a big difference. You can transform the bathroom from a place of fear into a place of rewards with a few environmental shifts.

For starters, you can use a non-slip rubber mat to help dogs feel secure and safe on their feet.

A nifty trick is smearing a small amount of dog-safe peanut butter on the wall or a lick mat. Dogs lick it and do not pay attention to the bath. For dogs, licking is a natural soothing behavior, and peanut butter may do the trick.

Another way to help a dog is to keep the water pressure low and avoid spraying the dog directly in the face. For many dogs, that type of spraying doesn't feel good.

Lastly, introduce your dog to the dry tub several times per week with treats. This helps them associate the room with something good, not with getting wet.

Mini Dachshund Snoozes on Mom's Shoulder for the Ultimate Car Ride Nap

Wed, 03/25/2026 - 4:31pm

Okay, you adore your Mini Dachshund, but you’re not sure if it’s healthy for your dog to want to be around you this often. Truth be told, you love the company. What could be cuter than a Mini Dachshund as a shadow? We’ll wait… nothing. Maybe your other furry friends are more aloof or take a while to bond, but your Mini Dachshund is always around, especially when it’s bedtime. You’re cool with it, but just want to make sure it’s typical for the breed.

There’s a reason why Dachshunds have earned the nickname “Velcro Dogs.” This breed loves company, especially when they sleep. Big fans of co-sleeping, Mini Dachshunds crave companionship at bedtime, helping them feel safe and secure. Pack animals by nature, Dachshunds and Mini Dachshunds find comfort in bedtime cuddles and knowing someone or something else is nearby while they sleep.

A Mini Dachshund’s need for anxiety-reducing sleep habits might explain the adorable video that just crossed our TikTok feed. Little Olivia, the Mini Dachshund, nuzzles her head into Mom’s neck and rests comfortably on her human’s shoulder, the motion of the car lulling this precious pup into a blissful nap.

Mom keeps the car ride safe by not letting the snoozing dog obstruct her arms or visibility, and the dog appears to be deep in dreamland as Mom drives down the road.

Other Mini Dachshund lovers were quick to jump into the comment section, sharing their own pup’s car ride nap habits, with one writing, “Mine does that too, but only in the car.” Another added, “My baby loves to do that. Is it like a Dachshund thing or something else?”

Other family members of Mini Dachshunds shared photos of their own dogs sleeping on their shoulder, leg, or neck during car rides as well. A few commenters even shared photos of their dogs napping similarly, despite being a different breed.

Dachshunds may be known as Velcro Dogs, but many dogs love to stay close to a human or another pup while snoozing. Consider it a compliment, and by all means don’t move. A dog napping on a human’s shoulder is one of the most heartwarming things we’ve seen all day.

35% of Americans Want to Adopt Large Dogs, But This Common Barrier Is Fueling Shelter Overcrowding

Wed, 03/25/2026 - 3:50pm

Shelters are full of dogs of all sizes looking for loving homes. However, large dogs disproportionately spend longer in shelters than their smaller counterparts.

According to a new report, 35 percent of Americans would prefer to adopt a large dog. However, housing restrictions, economic factors and rental agreements stand in their way, leaving these dogs to sit in shelters.

Big Dogs Sit in Shelters Longer Stray dogs await adoption at a shelter.

Evgenii Bakhchev via Shutterstock.com

Overcrowding is one of the biggest challenges currently facing our shelters. Between dogs being dumped in the streets, unplanned litters and surrenders, shelters cannot adopt pups out as quickly as they are coming in. Adoption specials and redistributing pups to neighboring shelters aren't making up the difference either, especially when it comes to pups that are a little bit on the larger side.

According to the ASPCA's 2025 Shelter Animal Count Report, 5.8 million dogs and cats were taken in by rescues and shelters nationwide. Of that 5.8 million, 2.8 million were dogs. Thankfully, 2 million of them found new homes by the end of 2025, with a carryover of 147,000 dogs. However, although large dogs account for only 26 percent of intakes into rescues and shelters, they have longer stays than small and medium dogs.

Hill's Pet Nutrition recently compiled its 2026 State of Shelter Pet Adoption Report, which details why larger dogs spend longer in shelters and what can be done to help them find the loving homes they deserve more quickly, with the ultimate goal of alleviating the overall toll on dogs and shelters. Large dogs are classified as those weighing 61 pounds or more.

“The 2026 State of Shelter Pet Adoption Report uses data-driven insights to help the animal welfare community identify and quantify the unique challenges affecting large dog adoption,” said Meghan Lehman, Senior Manager, Brand Engagement for Shelters at Hill's Pet Nutrition in a press release. “By understanding and identifying the root causes of adoption hesitancy, we can empower the sheltering community to develop effective strategies that reduce barriers and improve outcomes.”

State of Shelter Adoptions Report Identifies Hurdles

The report covers the results of a sample size of 2,000 Americans. While it is a small sampling, the findings are eye-opening and could have wider implications. A little over a third of the sample said they would ultimately like to adopt a larger dog, while 19 percent were open to any dog size.

One of the factors that deters the majority of Americans sampled from considering larger pups is a lack of confidence in their ability to care for and handle a bigger dog, something I can completely understand as an owner of a 70-pound German shepherd. That concern is amplified when you have a larger dog with a high prey drive; you tend to wonder what will happen if all that time you spent training fails and your dog decides to chase down that squirrel or, in my case, a deer. Fortunately, I am fairly confident in my handling abilities and have never had an issue, which puts me in line with the 89 percent of those surveyed. But those who weren't likely to adopt a large dog said they had only 33 percent confidence in their handling abilities, which steered them toward smaller dogs.

Pet ownership is expensive, and the bigger the pup, the more they eat, the more expensive their vet visits are and the more expensive it is if something goes wrong. Larger dogs are also more expensive to adopt and more expensive to fix. It's no surprise that the biggest factor in the battle of small versus big dog is the financial cost. Many programs focus on making initial pet ownership more affordable by offering lower adoption fees or big-dog specials, but not all. Potential adopters would be more motivated if there were free or discounted training, low adoption costs and financial assistance to get the basics needed to bring home a new dog.

While younger generations are 30 percent more likely to bring home a big pup over a small one, they face different challenges than the 16 percent of Gen X and Boomers who say they would want a bigger four-legged friend. Fewer Millennials and Gen Z own homes, and many apartments or condos have size restrictions for pets, often favoring pups under 30 or 40 pounds. So while they may be more willing than the older generations to adopt a larger dog, they have a barrier standing in the way of them and their ideal companion.

"The challenges facing large dogs in shelters are not isolated to any one community — they are national in scope and require shared understanding,” said Jim Tedford, President and CEO at The Association for Animal Welfare Advancement, in a press release. “This report equips shelter leaders with timely, relevant data that can help guide conversations, shape programs, and strengthen outcomes for pets in need.”

This is the fourth edition of the Hill's report. Hopefully, it can continue to provide actionable information that will eventually help more large, lovable pups find their way into new homes a little faster every year.

Amazing Dog Riding a Onewheel Is 'What the Internet Was Made For'

Wed, 03/25/2026 - 2:38pm

Greyson really gets around. The Pit Bull mix has the extraordinary ability to control a one-wheeled skateboard like an absolute pro. He rides around town, turning heads and garnering so much praise online that one commenter claims the internet exists solely to showcase unique talent such as his.

Video after video on Greyson's account documents his amazing skill, but this one in particular shows the free-wheeling pup maneuvering his Onewheel around the park, tail wagging happily. His human can be heard assuring spectators that the dog is, in fact, steering his own board. At one point, a man moves off the path to make room for Greyson, and we can see the amazement on his face as he watches the dog zip by.

"I can't even get mine to come when I call, let alone put them on wheels," jokes one viewer.

"He drives better than I do," laughs another.

Others are simply blown away and question what it took to get him there.

"The amount of patience to teach him that," wonders one.

But how does one actually teach a dog to ride a skateboard so masterfully?

Related: Golden Retriever's Refusal to Leave the Park Is So Sad, It's Funny

Skateboarding Basics For Dogs

I couldn't find a post that showcased how Greyson was taught to ride his board, but the process was probably similar to what this article recommends. After all, teaching a dog to skateboard looks impressive, but it’s really just a series of small, very patient steps. The goal isn’t speed—it’s getting your dog comfortable and confident first.

Start with the basics: the right board matters. It should be sturdy, stable, and big enough for your dog to stand on without feeling cramped. From there, just let them get used to it—sniff it, stand near it, exist around it. No pressure.

Next, you build up slowly. First paws on the board, then all four paws, with the board not moving. Once they’re steady, you introduce a tiny bit of movement—very controlled, very slow. Treats and praise do most of the heavy lifting here.

Eventually, you work up to actual rolling, and then (the hardest part) getting them to push the board themselves (or in Greyson's case, teaching him to control the speed and direction of the electric board by shifting his body weight). That part takes time and repetition, and not every dog is going to master it—and that’s fine.

It's best to keep sessions short, positive, and low-pressure. If your dog seems unsure, go back a step and take extra time. This is one of those things where patience matters more than progress.

Adopting a new animal to add to the family can be a big adjustment for everyone (human and otherwise) in the household, but seeing how much you can change the life of your new pet just by giving them a loving home and family really is everything.

The prime example of this is Carmen the Cockatoo, featured in the TikTok video below. Now that he has joined his new family, he is thriving.

Sure enough, Carmen looks like he's living his best life in this video, busting a move all over the house and looking so happy the entire time. He deserves this!

How to Rescue a Cockatoo

Adopting a rescue Cockatoo is going to be a bit different than adopting a dog or a cat, and not just because we're talking about very obviously different animals. While rescuing a dog or cat can be as easy as visiting your local animal shelter or humane society, finding a Cockatoo in need of a loving home will be a bit more of a challenge.

Once you've decided to take the plunge and add a bird to your fam, a good place to start will be at local parrot and bird rescues since that's where these animals will receive the specialized care they need.

The well known Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Utah also has plenty of birds of all kinds available to adopt, so their website can be a good place to start as well.

It may take a bit of extra effort, but imagine making a bird as happy as Carmen is in this video. In the end, the extra effort will be totally worth it.

Mom Teaching Her Deaf Maine Coon Cat Sign Language Is So Beautiful To Watch

Wed, 03/25/2026 - 12:20pm

There are a lot of sweet pet videos on the internet, and then there are the ones that make you stop because something about them just feels different. This is one of those. A cat mamma is communicating with her deaf cat using American Sign Language, and the moment she asks a simple question, his entire energy shifts in the best way.

It is quiet. It is intentional. And then suddenly, it is chaos in the most joyful, cat way possible.

Just wait until you see his excited reaction when she asks him a simple question.

@huckleberry.cant.hear

I think he’s ready! 🤩 #catsoftiktok #deafcat #signlanguage #cattok #fyp

@huckleberry.cant.hear shared the beautiful video on TikTok, and in the clip, the cat mom signs to her stunning white Maine Coon, a beauty with heterochromia (one blue eye and one green eye) wearing a hot pink harness. She asks if he is ready to go for a walk, and before she even finishes, he absolutely launches across the room toward her like he has been waiting his whole life for this exact moment.

Related: Blind and Deaf Mini Dachshund Wearing Girly Blue Bows Is Melting Hearts

It's the kind of excitement that feels bigger than just “walk.” It feels like understanding. Like connection. Like this cat knows exactly what she is saying and is all in.

People in the comments were just as moved, and also a little obsessed with how smart and gorgeous he is. One person wrote, “I love how you learned sign language just for him,” while another added, “He’s so smart and handsome.” Someone else shared, “I sign food to my cat, and he understands,” which honestly opens a whole new door of possibilities I was not prepared for.

Others were just stunned by how striking he is, writing, “Whoa. One of the most beautiful cats I’ve ever seen,” and “Your deaf cat listens to you better than my fully hearing-abled cat listens to me,” which… fair. Very fair. And of course, there were the curious viewers asking, “I didn’t know cats could understand sign language?!”

A few people pointed out something really important here. Kitties may not “understand language” the way we think of it, but they are incredibly good at picking up on visual cues, patterns, and repeated signals. Over time, those signs become meaningful, especially when they are tied to something exciting like a walk.

Also, quick personal aside, Meatball (my Maine Coon) would absolutely learn exactly one sign, and it would be “snack,” and then somehow pretend to forget all others immediately.

Why To Adopt a Deaf Cat @tassiloedwards

I eat when I wanna eat! #cat #deaf #deafcat #deafcatsoftiktok #fyp #foryou #foryoupage #cutecat #catsoftiktok #catsofinstagram #cats #whitecat #foodie

♬ originalljud - Toffee & Tassilo

Deaf cats often get overlooked in shelters, which is honestly heartbreaking because they are just as capable of forming strong, loving bonds with their people. In many cases, they are even more visually attentive and tuned into their environment, which can make communication feel really special.

They can learn routines, hand signals, and visual cues surprisingly well, especially when those cues are consistent. Things like feeding time, playtime, or yes, even walks, can all be communicated without sound. It just takes a little patience and a willingness to meet them where they are.

Deaf cats also tend to be incredibly strong. They adapt in ways that are genuinely impressive, relying more on sight and vibration, and often forming deep trust with their humans because of that extra layer of communication.

This video is such a beautiful reminder that connection does not depend on hearing. It just depends on showing up, paying attention, and maybe learning a whole new way to say, “Ready for a walk?”
