Golden Retriever Puppy’s Attention Tactics Are Annoying, but Impossible To Resist

Wed, 02/18/2026 - 8:55pm

Have you ever wanted someone's attention, and it seems like no matter what you do, it's not working? There are some people who are really good at getting eyeballs on them whenever they want, and there are some puppies who are experts, too.

In one video, we meet a Golden Retriever puppy who is on a mission to get his parents' attention, and he doesn't want to be gentle or subtle about it at all. He knows exactly what to do, and at such a young age, already knows that the more annoying the tactic, the more impossible it is for his parents to ignore. But he somehow manages to make that annoyingness really, really cute, too.

TikToker @george_thegoldenboy shared a video of their charming Golden Retriever, George, who wants his mom's attention. He has no concerns about her personal well-being or patience level, and he decides when she's "already overstimulated," now is the best time to demand cuddles and pets.

It's not clear what George wants from his mama; whether he wants to play, because he's having fun tugging on her pants and putting his paws on her legs. Or if he wants to cuddle because he's trying to jump onto her lap. In reality, George is likely just looking for someone who can play a little rough with him, and he's probably teething a little, too. But he loves to test his mama's patience, and he is just so adorable hopping around with his fuzzy coat and happy tail.

In the comments, others found this video of George just as charming, probably because we're not the ones being annoyed.

One person wrote, "I have scars everywhere on my body, and all my pants and socks are ripped. But I still give him my hand to chew."

Another shared, "I have biting scars everywhere on my hand, and she ripped all my pants."

Someone else added, "I just followed you, Georgie, he's so cute [for real].

Other comments included, "I’ve got scars all over my hands," "Good thing he's adorable," "Hands and cuddles," "I’d do anything for a cuddle with Georgie," and "He looks exactly like my puppy."

When Do Puppies Start Teething?

Just like with human babies, when puppies start to have their teeth grow in, they go through a phase called "teething." This is when their baby or puppy teeth fall out, and then their adult teeth come in, usually around the 12- to 16-week mark. With their adult teeth coming in, pups find comfort from the pain in chewing on things to put pressure on the gums and relieve the ache.

That's why pups this age tend to bite and chew on shoes and other stuff you'd rather them not get their teeth into, the American Kennel Club explains. Offering safe chew toys is one way to keep your dog from chewing your stuff to a minimum. This phase is typically done by the time a pup is 6 months old.

So if your doggy is acting like cute George, it won't last too long. Hang in there!

Golden Retriever's Pure Embarrassment After Burping Is LOL Funny

Wed, 02/18/2026 - 8:43pm

You ever burp in public and try to play it off like nothing happened? This Golden Retrieverjust got caught doing exactly that on camera, and his recovery attempt is absolutely sending people.

There's a TikTok going around where Canelo the Golden gets filmed right as he lets out a burp. The caption asks people to "⭐️rate his burp (1-10)⭐️" but honestly, the burp isn't even the best part.

It's what happens after.

The second he realizes he got caught on camera, this dog gives the most subtle, coy side-eye you've ever seen. Then he gets shy. Like actually shy. He barely acknowledges what just happened and tries moving on with his life as if we didn't all just witness that moment.

@canelothegolden

⭐️rate his burp (1-10) ⭐️ follow for more!

♬ original sound - neloooo

People in the comments are obsessed.

Someone gave a very official breakdown: "Burp 9.0, Golden awkward side eye 10.0." Which feels accurate.

Another commenter tried reassuring him: "Nothing to be embarrassed about." But clearly this Golden disagrees.

The winner though? "Rating it at 11 since seeing the little cheeks puff up made my day 🥰" Because yes, his cheeks did puff up, and yes, it's adorable.

Do Golden Retrievers Actually Feel Embarrassed When They Get Caught Doing Something?

Here's where things get interesting. Can dogs actually feel embarrassed? Scientists aren't totally sure.

Dogs definitely have emotions—we can see happiness, fear, surprise, anger. A happy Golden wags everything, not just the tail. A scared dog demonstrates it through body language. Those are straightforward.

Related: Golden Retriever's Sadness Over Little Human Sibling Going to School Is So Bittersweet

But embarrassment? That's trickier. Feeling embarrassed means you're aware of what someone else thinks about you. It's a self-conscious emotion that requires understanding social judgment.

What we do know is dogs are incredibly tuned into us. They read our moods, pick up on our reactions, notice when we're not happy with them. So when this Golden gives that awkward side-eye, is he embarrassed? Or is he just reacting to being watched and filmed?

A Dutch study found that people regularly attribute complex emotions to their pets. We assume they feel what we'd feel in that situation. If we'd be mortified getting caught burping on camera, we figure our dogs would be too.

That's called anthropomorphism—projecting human feelings onto animals. It helps us feel connected to our pets, which isn't bad. It just might not reflect what's actually happening in their heads.

So this Golden's shy reaction after burping could be genuine embarrassment. Or he might just be picking up on the fact that his human found the whole thing hilarious and is now acting weird about it.

Either way, that side-eye is comedy gold. Burp rating: 9.0. Recovery attempt: 11/10.

Dachshunds' Epic Race at Hockey Game Is a Complete Adrenaline Rush

Wed, 02/18/2026 - 7:55pm

Hockey games are already a huge adrenaline rush, but throw in a Dachshund race, and your heart is never going to stop pounding.

That is what happens in this new video shared by Sports Illustrated, which takes place during a professional hockey game, either before the game or during a break between periods.

It's an official race with all the Dachshunds lined up on one side with one of their parents, and then another parent or friend waiting for them pass the center line (and yes, they are allowed to entice them with toys at the other end!).

There looks to be about a dozen or so Wiener dogs at the starting line.

Then the announcer says, "On your marks. Get set. Go!" and the Dachshunds take off, all wearing navy blue jerseys.

Some of these little guys are quite fast.

One even decides they are ready for a second lap, runs to the one parent, and heads back to the starting line!

On the other hand, there is one Dachshund who did not feel compelled to run the race, but instead, took it at their own speed and just trotted leisurely.

Gotta love a dog for doing their own thing!

It's hard to tell who exactly won the race, but they are all winners to us!

However, according to the original poster of the video, NHL host Jonny Lazarus, a Dachshund named Simon, was the official winner of the race!

You may not think Dachshunds are the fastest dogs with their little legs and long torsos, but actually, they are relatively able runners with a lot of strength to back them up.

According to Dachshund-Central.com, on average, this breed can achieve an average top speed of 15 to 20 miles per hour.

Dog Dad Gets His Dream Golden Retriever Puppy, and the Surprise Is Pure Joy

Wed, 02/18/2026 - 7:17pm

Have you ever spotted a dog while you were out and instantly felt drawn in? If you love animals, it happens more often than you can count. But for one dog dad, a quick stop in a parking lot turned into a moment he will never forget.

As he pulled in and noticed a tiny Golden Retriever Puppy nearby, he casually announced he was “going to pet that dog.” What he didn’t realize was that the puppy he was admiring was actually waiting just for him. The sweet boy was his Valentine’s Day surprise.

In a reveal that feels almost too perfect to script, this new dog dad met his dream puppy, Jupiter. The moment he finally understands the adorable boy is his is pure joy in real time.

Check out the unforgettable surprise in this February 16 TikTok from @jup.the.golden:

At first, he seems simply delighted to greet the fluffy puppy, crouching down with affection. When he’s told the puppy is his, disbelief flashes across his face. It takes a few seconds and a bit of reassurance before the realization sinks in. Then the moment lands. He scoops Jupiter into his arms, still smiling in shock.

As the excitement settles, you can see the emotion catch up with him. What started as a quick hello became something life-changing. And the surprise didn’t stop with one new puppy.

Jupiter and his sister will train as therapy dogs and eventually work in a nursing home alongside their parents, where their calm presence and affectionate nature can bring comfort to residents. Therapy dogs are widely used in senior care settings to help reduce loneliness, encourage interaction, and provide emotional support.

A second TikTok shows the two puppies on their first shopping trip together, navigating the world side by side.

Golden Retrievers are among the most common breeds used in therapy programs because of their gentle temperament, intelligence, and strong desire to connect with people. According to the American Kennel Club, the breed is known for its friendly disposition and eagerness to please, traits that make them well suited for roles in hospitals, schools, and senior care facilities. Their calm presence and predictable behavior help create a sense of comfort and emotional safety for the people they visit.

Knowing Jupiter’s future makes the surprise even more meaningful. This wasn’t just a gift. It’s the beginning of a partnership that will eventually bring comfort to others.

And if the look on this new dog dad’s face is any indication, Jupiter has already started what looks like a long career of melting hearts.

Adorable Rescue Cat Saying 'First Words' in 2 Years Has Everyone Swooning

Wed, 02/18/2026 - 6:55pm

Not all cats love a good yap. Of my three felines, it's only the two gals who use their voices as often as possible, while my boy maintains a quieter presence. The funnier thing about the girls is that the younger one didn't "speak" much until the eldest taught her how, and now, between the two, we have meowing almost constantly!

One rescue cat named Telly has never been very chatty. You can imagine Mom's surprise when all of a sudden, the gray kitty had a whole lot to say. Maybe she also picked up a few things from my vocal feline!

@lookitstelly

Did she learn words from Grover?!People have asked if she meows. The answer is always "rarely" and so quietly that I've only heard it a few times in response to me preparing her food. Today is the first time she just randomly and deliberately meowed at me and I can't believe it. #cattok #greycat #polydactylcat #catsoftiktok

♬ original sound - TellyBeans

Telly's little voice may require more volume to fully hear it, but as Mom noted in the caption, she's only rarely meowed in two years and "so quietly that I've only heard it a few times in response to me preparing her food."

She added, "Today is the first time she just randomly and deliberately meowed at me, and I can't believe it." The first guess is that the other resident cat, Grover, may have shown Telly how to talk—just like my two—and because cats are so smart, that's probably accurate.

Related: Wobbly Rescue Cat Topples Over With Excitement Over First Meows

Known to her fans as the rescue girl with extra toe beans, Telly is more than special. Obviously, she's adorable as all get out with that overbite, but have you seen her huge "rabbit feet" paws? They're incredible.

Telly is true prima donna perfection, whether she knows it or not, and she's been that way from her rough beginnings, as shown in another post. Look how small and cute she was.

@lookitstelly

Replying to @ales.main.reincarnated She was the best thing I didn't realize I needed. #greycat #catsoftiktok #polydactylcat #cats #cattok

♬ The Kite Luisa Marion and Noah Floersch - luisa.marion.music Not All Cats Meow

Though it seems all felines should meow, that's not the case. Meowing isn't in the nature of all cats, like the quiet, shy, or less vocal breeds, such as my boy (a Ragdoll) or British Shorthair cats.

Unlike Siamese babes, who are known to be talkative, others don't do it, because it's primarily meant for communicating with humans—not each other—so they might prefer using nonverbal means instead.

If you ask me, it's diabolical how intelligent kitties really are. They teach each other how to "talk" through roaring meows, so they get us to give them things, which is pretty awesome. So if Telly has something to say, we're going to listen!

Lindsey Vonn Pens Heartbreaking Goodbye to Beloved Dog Leo

Wed, 02/18/2026 - 6:10pm

Gold medalist Lindsey Vonn endured an Olympic heartbreak when she broke her leg in the women's downhill alpine skiing event on Feb. 8 in the 2026 Milan Cortina Games. Vonn had already suffered an ACL injury during a practice just a week before the Games began and had hoped to fight through it to contend for the Gold. She has already undergone four surgeries and will most likely have more scheduled.

Unfortunately, Vonn also lost her beloved dog Leo just one day after her crash and recently posted a tribute in his honor.

View this post on Instagram

In the Instagram post from @lindseyvonn, the Olympic champ announced the news alongside a carousel of photos highlighting her special moments with Leo. Vonn also referenced her late dogs Lucy, who passed away last year, and Bear, who died in 2022.

"Leo Vonn ✝️🤍 2013-2/9/2026 — Leo has passed away and joined Lucy and Bear up in heaven," she wrote. "I still have not come to terms that he is gone…"

The professional skier shared Leo's cause of death and how it coincided with her own injuries.

"The day I crashed, so did Leo," Vonn explained. "He had been recently diagnosed with lung cancer (he survived lymphoma a year and a half ago) but now his heart was failing him. He was in pain and his body could no longer keep up with his strong mind."

Leo and Vonn Were Together for 13 Years

Vonn had to say her goodbyes to Leo while she was in the hospital in the midst of dealing with her injuries that ended this Olympic run. She praised the precious pooch for sticking by her side through previous difficulties.

"As I lay in my hospital bed the day after my crash, we said goodbye to my big boy," she posted. "My boy has been with me since my second ACL injury, when I needed him most. He held me on the sofa as I watched the Sochi Olympics. He lifted me up when I was down. He lay by me, and cuddled me, always making me feel safe and loved. We have been through so much together in 13 years."

Vonn took comfort in knowing that Leo was now at peace with her dogs, Lucy and Bear, as well as her mom and grandparents.

"There will never be another Leo," she revealed. "He will always be my first love. I will love you forever, my big boy."

Adorable Dog Crashes Live Weather Report and TikTok

Wed, 02/18/2026 - 5:48pm

A live weather report usually follows a predictable script. The meteorologist stands in front of a snow-covered backdrop, explains incoming systems and tracks temperatures for the week ahead. Viewers expect maps, numbers and timing. They do not expect a dog to enter the frame.

And during a recent broadcast, that is exactly what happened. As the meteorologist delivered the forecast, a dog in the background began rolling enthusiastically in fresh snow. The camera remained wide, so viewers could see the animal wriggling on its back while the forecast continued uninterrupted. The contrast between the calm delivery and the dog’s full-body celebration made the TikTok video spread quickly online.

Moments like this work because they are unscripted. Live television leaves little room for control once the camera starts rolling. In this case, a golden retriever added a second storyline without saying a word.

@nbcconnecticut

♬ original sound - nbcconnecticut What Fans Are Saying About It

Fans instantly noticed one thing: the dog in the video is a golden retriever. Known as one of the friendliest dogs, they love snow and water. And the only thing they love more is both things at the same time. For golden retrievers, snow is a chance to express their playful behavior and enjoy sensory stimulation.

Related: Adorable Dog Destroys Family Snowman in a Surprising Carrot Heist

But most fans focused on the funny situation, commenting “this winter has been brutal. Dog: BEST SNOW DAY EVER,” “the camera man could have zoomed in so we didn't have to,” and “I didn’t hear a word she was saying I was distracted by the cuteness in the background.”

Why Do Dogs Roll in Snow?

Rolling in snow is common behavior, especially for dogs that encounter fresh snowfall after a dry period. There are several reasons behind it.

First and foremost is scent. Dogs explore the world through smelling and sniffing. Snow can trap and preserve scents from wildlife, other dogs or the surrounding environment. Rolling allows a dog to transfer those smells onto its fur. Dog behaviorists call it scent-marking or scent-masking.

Then, we have the physical sensation. Snow provides a new texture and temperature against the skin. For dogs with thick coats, such as huskies or malamutes, cold surfaces can feel stimulating rather than uncomfortable.

In the viral video, we can be sure that the dog was playing. His body language shows him repeatedly rolling and having fun, and it's clear he's enjoying his own special snow day.

'Unbothered' Lemur Soaking Up Sun Draws Comparisons to This Iconic Character from 'Madagascar'

Wed, 02/18/2026 - 4:18pm

Despite how cute they are, lemurs aren’t exactly a common household pet. Although us 90s kids grew up on Zoomboomafoo and likely fantasized about having one of our very own, the reality is lemurs are very much wild animals and should be treated as such. That means, unfortunately, we’ll have to leave the lemur care to the professionals and admire their adorable cuteness from afar.

Although we may not be able to keep them as pets, wildlife conservatories have unmitigated access to seeing these creatures up close and personal, and thanks to the magic of the internet, we can follow along with all their wild and wacky escapades, too.

As if we needed another reason to fall in love with the world’s oldest living primate, @dani_villarr shared the most adorable video we’ve ever seen of a lemur doing what lemurs do best. No, he wasn’t swinging from tree to tree by his tail or scurrying around foraging for food—instead, this little red ruffed lemur was soaking up some sun with his arms stretched wide to take it all in.

Lemur Basking in the Sun Draw Comparisons to King Julian from 'Madagascar' @dani_villarr

♬ original sound - dani_villarr

The video, which has garnered 9.2 million views and over 1.2 million likes to date, shows one of the rare moments when nature's “hype man” settles down and simply enjoys the warmth of the sun. Comments rolled in immediately, with almost everyone making the same joke that the crimson-colored fur ball looked just like King Julian from Madagascar. “Feel free to bask in my glow,” quoted one fan. “King Julian, is that you?” inquired someone else. Several other people shared memes showing LeBron James, Randy Orton and even SpongeBob in similar poses.

Why Lemurs "Worship" the Sun

Although the behavior might look hilariously uncharacteristic, lemurs actually practice “sun worship” for several biological reasons. For the most part, lemur populations are concentrated in the forests and jungles of Madagascar, and, despite how close it is to the equator, it can actually get relatively cold at night. To warm up in the morning, lemurs face their bellies to the sun and stretch their arms wide to warm themselves up. Additionally, it helps them conserve energy by using the sun's radiant heat to warm them rather than relying solely on their metabolism.

To further pile on the cuteness, lemurs typically make this a group activity to help strengthen their bond with one another. Maybe we can actually learn a thing or two from these lovable little primates. Unfortunately, this does absolutely nothing to calm our obsession with lemurs, but we’ll just have to settle for living vicariously through others.

Wolfdog Crashes Olympic Cross-Country Ski Race and Totally Steals the Show

Wed, 02/18/2026 - 3:55pm

When watching the Winter Olympics, there are certain things you expect to see: elite athletes in aerodynamic suits, perfectly groomed snow and photo finishes decided by fractions of a second. But a wolfdog crossing the finish line alongside competitors? Not so much.

And yet, that’s exactly what happened during qualifying for the women’s cross-country team sprint at the Milan Cortina Olympics, when an unexpected four-legged guest burst onto the course mid-race.

A video clip shared by @nbcolympics shows the large dog sprinting behind the athletes as they powered toward the finish, delighting the crowd and even the commentators.

“The biggest cheer of the day is not for any of the skiers so far,” one commentator remarked. Then, when the broadcast cut to a replay close-up of the wolfdog charging down the course, he added, “Now that’s true speed, down the finishing straight—magnificent,” clearly (and hilariously) shifting his admiration from the athletes to the four-legged finisher.

The skiers crossed first, and the wolfdog crossed moments later. And in true dog fashion, after barreling through the finish area, he trotted up to one of the competitors and gave her an obligatory butt sniff.

Thankfully, the surprise appearance didn’t disrupt the competition or impact results, with Sweden ultimately claiming gold in the event.

Meet Nazghul the Wolfdog

The canine crasher was later identified as a Czechoslovakian wolfdog named Nazghul—yes, like the dark riders from Lord of the Rings, though far less ominous. According to reports, Nazghul had been out for a walk with his owner, who lives nearby, when he slipped away and found himself on the race course.

For those unfamiliar, a Czechoslovakian wolfdog is a breed that was developed in the 1950s by crossing German shepherds with Carpathian wolves. The result is a striking, wolf-like dog known for high intelligence, athleticism and stamina—all qualities Nazghul unintentionally showcased on the Olympic stage.

Athletes React to the Surprise Guest

For the athletes, the moment was equal parts surreal and slightly nerve-wracking. Croatian skier Tena Hadzic told NPR she briefly wondered if she was hallucinating when she saw the dog alongside her.

Others leaned into the humor. Greek skier Konstantina Charalampidou later joked that she suddenly found herself fielding interview requests, not about her performance, but about finishing with a canine co-star. She noted that Nazghul appeared to be chasing a moving camera that travels along the finish stretch and described him as cute and non-aggressive.

Nazghul’s owner later called him “stubborn but very sweet,” suggesting he likely just wanted to get attention from people he saw heading toward the venue that morning. Apparently, he decided the best way to do that was by joining the Olympics!

Tiny Deaf Dog's Beautiful Smile Is Making Hearts So Happy

Wed, 02/18/2026 - 1:34pm

You know what? Sometimes the internet gives you exactly what you need, and right now that's apparently a scruffy, little dog sitting on a couch with the biggest smile you've ever seen.

Meet Horchata. She's an adorable, tiny deaf dog whose TikTok just dropped with one goal: "Share this video of my tiny deaf dog smiling and make someone else smile."

You'll never believe what happened next? It worked.

The entire video basically consisted of Horchata adorably chilling on the couch looking ridiculously happy. She's a little unkempt (her grooming appointment's on Saturday, mom defensively notes in the caption), but honestly? Her messy look just adds to her charm. Little Miss Smiles-a-Lot sitting there grinning like she just won the doggie lottery.

@chatathedeafdog

No one come for me! Her grooming appointment is on Saturday 😂 we’ve never let it grow this long. #chatathedeafdog

♬ Oogum Boogum Song - Brenton Wood

Zero thoughts happening behind those eyes. Pure joy mode activated.

Fans were losing their minds over how cute Horchata is. "OMG what a lil doll" was one of the first comments, and honestly, where's the lie.

Another viewer immediately hit follow: "Instant follower! For the smile and the name, Horchata❤️" The name really is chef's kiss.
The reactions just kept coming. "So adorable 🥰," "Stole my heart," and "She's perfect!" One fact remains, the sentiment is overwhelming and conclusive, "this dog is unreasonably cute."

One person gave us the perfect description: "Stop, she looks like a little stuffie that came to life." YES. Indeed, Horchata looks exactly like someone's childhood toy suddenly came to life.

Related: Blind Elephant Gives Birth to 'Very, Very Big Baby' After Grueling 7-Hour Delivery

"Mission accomplished, made me smile," confirmed that Horchata's human succeeded in spreading joy.

Then the comments got goofier. "I love your little muppet!" wrote someone. While another fan asked, "How many edibles did that doggie have?" which is a fair question given her extremely chill vibe.

But my ultimate favorite comment is this one: "Nothing going on, just rainbows, gumdrops, and lollipops. I'm jealous." Adorable, happy Horchata's living in a care-free world where problems don't matter and everything's made of sunshine.

Deaf Dogs Can Live Full, Happy Lives With Proper Care and Training

Here's what Horchata proves without even trying—being deaf doesn't stop a dog from being happy.

5% and 10% of dogs deal with deafness in their lifetimes. Some are born that way because of genetics (certain coat patterns like merle or piebald are linked to it). Other dogs lose their hearing later in life from ear infections, aging, injuries, or health problems.

Dogs who were born deaf? They handle it perfectly because it's all they've ever known. They literally don't know they're missing out on anything. Sound was never part of their world, so they don't feel like something's missing.

These dogs figure out how to depend more heavily on their other senses. You train deaf dogs with hand signals instead of talking. Works just as well, honestly. Some deaf dogs even do dog sports and competitions. Deafness does not mean your dog can't live a full and happy life, as is evident from that lovable smile on her face.

🐶SIGN UP to get “pawsitivity” delivered right to your inbox with inspiring & entertaining stories about our furry & feathered friends🐾🐾

They just need humans who get their situation. You can't yell "come here" from across the yard—you have to go get their attention visually. Outside? Keep them on a leash because they won't hear a car coming.

Look at little Horchata sitting there on that couch. Does she look like she's suffering or missing out on life?
She looks like the happiest dog on the planet. She's got a comfy spot, she's loved, and apparently the vibes are immaculate.

That's really all most dogs want anyway. The hearing thing? Turns out it's optional. The smiling and being happy part? That's what matters.

Penguins All Dressed Up for Chinese New Year Is Legit the Cutest Thing You'll See All Day

Wed, 02/18/2026 - 1:17pm

Lunar New Year preparations apparently included penguins this year. At a zoo in China, the birds waddled around in miniature outfits and accessories, and viewers can’t get enough of the tiny details. Keepers dressed them in traditional fur-lined (and we assume custom-made) cheongsams, red bow ties, festive collars, and the cutest backpacks we've ever seen. The birds paraded proudly for an audience of phone-wielding zoo-goers who could not have been more delighted with their attire.

Honestly, it’s impossible to pick a favorite detail — it might be the backpacks for me and plenty of other people in the comments.

One said it best, "The backpack is SO ADORABLE!!"

While another just loved it all, "So stylish, I’m obsessed!"

One fan had a pretty viable business idea: "Literally did not think penguins could get any cuter. Need a Chinese New Year penguin stuffie now!!!!!!" Same, friend. Same.

The burning question for me, however, is exactly who (or whom) was responsible for dressing these birds? I'd like to see some BTS footage of that exercise.

What is a Fire Horse?

While it might seem like it's a celebration of the penguin, 2026 is very much equine-focused: It's the Year of the Fire Horse, to be more precise. But what does that mean?

Every Lunar New Year comes with its own personality, thanks to the Chinese zodiac. The calendar runs on a 12-animal cycle paired with five natural elements (wood, fire, earth, metal, and water). When those combine, you get a specific energy for the year — and one of the most talked-about combinations is the Year of the Fire Horse.

Why the buzz? Because it’s rare. The Fire Horse only comes around once every 60 years, which already gives it a bit of mystique.

The horse in the zodiac is associated with movement, independence, and confidence. Think momentum, adventure, and a strong desire to do things your own way. Add the fire element, and those traits get turned all the way up — symbolizing ambition, passion, big decisions, and major life changes. In astrology circles, it’s often described as a year when people feel motivated to act instead of waiting for the “right time.”

Most people view it as a vibe: a fast-moving, energetic period that favors boldness over caution. It’s considered a year for trying new things, making big plans, and stepping outside comfort zones, which, if we take our cue from these penguins, could mean taking fabulous fashion risks that certainly pay off.

Chocolate Brown Oriental Shorthair Kitten Shows off the Tiniest Vampire Fangs

Wed, 02/18/2026 - 12:55pm

There are cute kittens… and then there are kittens who look like they clock in at a haunted castle after dark. This chocolate brown Oriental Shorthair kitty named Dexter is firmly in the second category. He’s just sitting there. Not plotting. Not hissing. Not doing anything remotely dramatic. And yet those two tiny, perfectly placed fangs are doing all the heavy lifting. I beg your finest pardon, sir, but are you aware you look like you just left a vampire club meeting?

The clip is simple. Dexter sits. He stares. His little ivory fangs peek out like punctuation marks. That’s it. That’s the content. And somehow it’s everything.

@toocuteanimal

Dexter is feeling spunky today 😅 #orientalshorthair

♬ So Easy (To Fall In Love) - Olivia Dean

TikTok user @toocuteanimal introduces Dexter as a lively, spunky Oriental Shorthair known for his playful spirit and affectionate personality. But honestly? The personality may be lively. The vibe, however, is Count Chocula meets Dobby the House Elf with a side of bat energy.

Related: Maine Coon Kitten's 'Face of Pure Shock' Shows off Adorable Vampire Fangs

One viewer wrote, “Vampire by night, Dobby House Elf by day!” Another added, “That is full-on Count Chocula energy.” Someone else called him a “catbat,” which frankly feels medically accurate. One fan declared, “Love Oriental cats, but this one is a Vampire Oriental.” And another simply said, “Dexter is so adorable… oh my goodness.”

I am not immune to his toothy charms. I would absolutely love to have an Oriental Shorthair. And by love, I mean I would dramatically rearrange my entire household and then pretend I did not. But if I brought one home, I am fairly certain my Maine Coon Meatball would file an eviction notice. He already acts like he pays the mortgage. The Pomeranian would panic. The other cats would form a committee to get rid of the new cat. It would be chaos. The fun kind, but still.

There is something about those long faces and oversized ears that feels slightly animated, slightly alien, slightly royalty-from-another-dimension. And then the fangs. Just sitting there. Menacingly. But politely.

Like he wants to bite you. But like, lovingly. While purring.

How Much Do Oriental Shorthairs Cost? @emporium_orient

♬ Golden Lights (Bonus) - Lofi Spider

Oriental Shorthairs are a sought-after breed because of their striking appearance, intelligence, and social personality. If you purchase from a reputable breeder, prices often range from about $500 to $1,000, depending on location and whether they are a show-quality cat.

However, it's always better to adopt when possible. Purebred cats, including Oriental Shorthairs and mixes, do sometimes end up in shelters or breed-specific rescues. Checking your local shelter, rescue groups, and breed networks can help you find a wonderful kitty while giving a cat a second chance.

Oriental Shorthair cats are known for being highly vocal, deeply affectionate, and extremely attached to their people. They do not do "independent background cat." They do "center of your emotional universe." So if you want a quiet, aloof feline… this is not that.

But if you want a dramatic little vampire who supervises your life choices from the arm of the couch?

Dexter has set the standard.

Ragdoll Cat Who's 'Not a Fan of Wind' Is the Fluffiest Little Cotton Ball

Wed, 02/18/2026 - 12:20pm

My sweet Ragdoll cat, Milo, is a timid boy with so much fluff, it's almost impossible to see his cute face at times. He's not the kind of cat who dreams of escaping to the outside jungle like his older sister Feathers does, and if he somehow made it out, it'd be he and his singular brain cell against the world.

This isn't the case with another Ragdoll named Carol, who's a real nature girl at heart. One thing she does not like? The wind and it's winded windiness that threatens to blow the cotton ball-looking kitty over!

@caroltheragdoll

she’s legit scared of wind 🥺 #fluffycat #ragdollcat #funnycat #catsoftiktok #cattiktok

♬ Earth Song - user34878126117

This is a scene Milo would neverrr, but Carol's a legend for sticking it out—even if she's plotting vengeance. Being "legit scared" of the windy weather doesn't stop her from getting some fresh air and sunshine. Hats off to the brave girl for conquering her fears all in the name of freedom!

The big, fluffy girl captured the hearts of many with this post, and many of them had their own nickname for the elegant Ragdoll who sacrificed a good hair day for this.

"Makes sense: tumbleweeds do tend to dislike the wind," one person joked. "Ma’am, I don’t mean to alarm you, but your cotton ball has eyes," another added. Another stated, "The cloud is not amused," and yet, Carol endures!

Related: Tiny Ragdoll Kittens Trying To 'Bust Out of Jail' Are So Full of Sass

It's not only the weather that makes Carol such a mood. For one, I love all pets with human names because I think they're aware they're on another level. That's the exact energy Carol gives on the daily.

Even something as basic as a family member visiting turns this Ragdoll into an icon. She's not letting all that fluffy perfection go unnoticed, nor should she.

@caroltheragdoll

Iconic behaviour if you ask me 💅🏼 #iconic #fluffycat #catsoftiktok #cattiktok #funnycat

♬ L.Delibes, Sylvia - Pizzicato - AllMusicGallery Ragdolls Are Fun Companions

Cats Carol and my boy Milo are amazing companions to just about anyone for a slew of reasons. They're laid-back, gentle, affectionate, and typically quiet kitties, but also sociable and friendly felines. Their seemingly endless kittenhood makes them playful, curious, and too pure for the world around them (which is why they aren't good outside cats).

They're also easy to train, with playing fetch at the top of their list! Just beware: They need a lot of attention from their humans. That said, Carol may not be a fan of the wind, but she's got every other cool Ragdoll trait that surely makes other cats jealous!

Giant Saint Bernard Gains a Tiny Pug Sibling for the Most Adorable Imbalance of Power

Wed, 02/18/2026 - 12:02pm

There’s something about a big-and-small dog duo that can melt my heart.

The contrast alone is irresistible, but it’s the tenderness that really gets you. As a dog mom, I saw it firsthand with my 150-pound Rottweiler and a 30-pound French Bulldog mix. The gentleness my big boy showed wasn’t something he was trained for. It was simply who he was.

That same quiet sweetness was on full display when Chip, a tiny Pug Puppy, curled up beside his Saint Bernard sibling, Sam. Even though Chip is new to the family and smaller than one of Sam’s massive paws, the moment leaves no doubt that this little pup knows he’s safe and loved.

Check out the moment of pure sweetness in this Instagram shared by @ernestthepug on February 12:

View this post on Instagram

The cuteness here is almost too much to process. Chip stretches himself out beside Sam’s face as if he’s claiming the coziest spot in the house. When he inches closer, gently pressing his tiny paws into Sam’s cheek, the big dog doesn’t flinch. Sam stays perfectly still, calm and patient, like a seasoned big brother who understands that the smallest family members sometimes need the most reassurance.

Viewers couldn’t get enough of the tender moment.

@jenniferromaniuk wrote, “They are both so sweet!”

And @puggie_brothers added, “Cuteness overload.”

That easy acceptance might come from experience. Sam isn’t new to sharing his space. In addition to Chip, he has another Pug sibling named Ray, and the household also includes a few pig friends. If anything, this gentle giant seems fully at ease as the steady presence for a lively, mixed crew.

An Instagram shared last September offers a look at the full gang Chip has joined.

View this post on Instagram Saint Bernards Are Known for Their Gentle Temperament

Saint Bernards may be massive, but according to the American Kennel Club, they’re known for their calm, patient nature. Bred for alpine rescue work, they developed an unflappable temperament that helps them stay composed in stressful situations. That same steadiness often shows up at home, where many Saint Bernards are gentle with children and smaller animals. While their size can be intimidating, their personality is full of affection and devotion.

Watching Chip snuggle into Sam’s face makes that reputation feel entirely deserved. Sam’s stillness isn’t just patience. It’s reassurance. It tells the little pup everything he needs to know about his place in the family.

Chip may be tiny, but tucked beside his giant sibling, he looks completely at ease. And Sam, with that quiet acceptance, proves that the biggest dogs often have the softest hearts.

Dog Parents Are Loving Target's Super-Durable Rope Toy That's Built for Tug and Toss

Wed, 02/18/2026 - 11:55am

Parade Pets aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Playtime isn't just a luxury for our furry companions; it is a fundamental pillar of their physical health and emotional well-being. For many dog owners, the daily ritual of fetch or tug-of-war is the highlight of the day, but the joy of the game can be quickly dampened when the equipment fails to keep up. Having the right tools for the job matters immensely.

Regardless of your dog’s specific size or breed, finding a toy that strikes the perfect balance between engagement and durability goes a long way. Investing in high-quality gear saves you the perpetual frustration and expense of having to replace shredded toys every other week. This cycle of "buy, destroy, repeat" can become a significant hassle, particularly if you share your home with a larger, more powerful breed. And as a large-dog owner myself, I know the struggle all too well; it often feels as though no matter what material or "indestructible" brand you choose, your pup finds a way to ultimately dismantle it in minutes.

Boots & Barkley 14-Inch Rope with Ball Dog Toy, $8.99 at Target

Target

Fortunately, we have reliable retailers like Target that seem to shine in every department, especially when it comes to catering to the specific needs of our "fur babies." Their pet section has become a go-to destination for quality at an affordable price point. And if you're looking for just that, you can currently find—featured on their website—the 14-inch Rope with Ball Dog Toy from the Boots & Barkley line, a product that is garnering significant attention for its resilience.

This toy highlights a thoughtful, modern design that isn’t just about aesthetics; it is engineered specifically for "toy destroyers." By combining the tensile strength of a heavy-duty rope with the density of a solid ball, it offers multiple textures for a dog to explore. It currently boasts a durability ranking of 5 out of 5, making it an ideal candidate for extreme play and aggressive chewing.

Related: Kong's New Waterproof Dog Toy Is Durable, Flexible and Ready for Hours of Energetic Play

Safety and satisfaction are clearly at the forefront of this product's design. Target explicitly advises shoppers that this toy is intended for dogs only, ensuring that the materials used are non-toxic and pet-safe. Perhaps the most reassuring aspect for a skeptical owner though, is the "guaranteed satisfaction or your money back" policy. In a market saturated with flimsy products, this promise creates a win-win scenario: either your dog has finally met their match, or you get your investment back. It provides a level of comfort that is rare in the pet industry.

The real proof, however, lies in the experiences of fellow pet parents. The review section on Target’s website is filled with glowing testimonials from people who were tired of watching their money get chewed to bits. One shopper shared their excitement, noting, "My puppy loves playing tug or fetch with this toy, very durable!" Another satisfied customer highlighted the sensory benefits, stating, "Sturdy and durable, the ball has different kinds of surfaces like cuts and nubs that are super entertaining for my pup."

When you combine professional engineering with the stamp of approval from the community, it’s clear that this toy is a top-tier choice for keeping your dog happy and your wallet intact.

Blind Elephant Gives Birth to 'Very, Very Big Baby' After Grueling 7-Hour Delivery

Wed, 02/18/2026 - 11:26am

Sometimes births go exactly as planned. And sometimes they turn into seven-hour nail-biters where the medical team starts wondering if they'll even be able to save the mom.

N'Dala's delivery was definitely the second kind.

This blind elephant at Beauval Zoo in central France went into labor on February 15, and what followed was an absolutely grueling ordeal that had zookeepers genuinely scared they might lose her.

Reuters captured the whole emotional aftermath on TikTok. The zoo staff is visibly relieved, explaining what happened: "It started very badly. We were losing hope. We just tried towards the end to save the life of the mother."

@reuters

♬ original sound - Reuters

But here's the thing about N'Dala—she's tougher than anyone gave her credit for. Seven hours later, she delivered a healthy baby girl.

And when the staff describes this baby, they can barely contain themselves: "The baby weighs around three hundred and thirty pounds. Very big, very, very big, very big, very, very big!"

330 pounds. That's not a typo. This newborn baby elephant is bigger than most full-grown humans.

One staff member captures the whole overwhelming relief perfectly: "It's a female baby. It's absolutely wonderful. Really, the elephants and all the team did a great job."

Elephant Pregnancies Last Nearly Two Years and Babies Are Born Massive

Honestly, it's incredible to imagine N'Dala carrying a baby for that long while being blind.

Elephants have the longest pregnancy of any land mammal. African elephants stay pregnant for about 22 months. Asian elephants carry their babies for 18-22 months. I've been pregnant a few times and it felt about three months too long. I wouldn't want to even imagine being pregnant for almost two full years.

Related: Newfoundland Surprising Grandma in a Tuxedo on Valentine's Day Is Giving Us the Feels

Elephant pregnancies take what feels like forever because these babies grow slowly in the womb but also, they're born with very advanced brain development. They need to be born understanding herd structure immediately and learn fast.

Baby elephants typically weigh upwards of 250 pounds at birth and stand about 3 feet tall. N'Dala's baby girl came in at 330 pounds, which explains all those "very, very big" comments from the staff.

Here's what's wild though—elephant herds don't stop moving just because someone's having a baby. Studies show herds maintain their normal pace even when a mother is pregnant or has just given birth. There is no special treatment for pregnant or new mom elephants. Moms slow down on the actual birth day, but otherwise they keep up with everyone else. Never any rest for moms, human or elephant.

Which means baby elephants are born ready to move. No lying around for weeks. You're born, you stand up, you walk. The herd's already moving. Catch up or risk being left behind.

N'Dala and her very, very big baby girl both made it through. After seven hours of everyone holding their breath, that's the ending we all needed.

First-Time Pug Mom Gently Teaches Her Only Puppy How To Nurse

Wed, 02/18/2026 - 11:20am

There is something universally tender about watching a brand-new mother try to figure things out in real time.

Winnie is a first-time Pugmom with one tiny baby girl—a singleton—and you can almost see the wheels turning in her head as she tries to understand what’s happening. Just watch this precious clip.

The clip, shared by @willow.dove.pugs, has the caption: “A first-time mother and her singleton baby girl. Winnie is a great mom,” and then adds, “First-time mom meeting her baby and figuring out how to nurse her.” And that’s exactly what we see.

Related: Tiny Runt Puppy Struggling to Thrive Gets Nursed Back to Health By Surrogate Mama Dog

The little puppy whimpers softly while Winnie hovers close, almost lying directly on top of her at first. She clearly knows the baby needs her, but she’s unsure how to position herself. There’s this sweet, careful hesitation. She rearranges. She stands up. She tries again.

Her dog mom gently laughs off camera and says, “Do you need help? Here, I’ll help you,” and guides the tiny puppy into place. Winnie settles on her side, and when the puppy latches, there’s a visible shift. A release. A soft sigh. One person added, “Her trying so hard not to lie on her baby.” Another wrote, “That sigh of relief when it latched, oh my goodness.”
Someone else commented, “First-time moms need help sometimes.” Another comment read, “She needed a lactation consultant, lol.”

And honestly? That last one made me laugh because I have never had a litter of newborn puppies in my house, but I have had three human babies. Learning how to mom is not easy. It’s instinct mixed with trial and error and a whole lot of: “Am I doing this right?”

Watching Winnie figure it out feels strangely universal. Gentle. Patient. A little unsure, but determined.

How Long Do Newborn Puppies Nurse? @frenchiesfrappe

She nursed 6 puppies for 6 weeks…her choice! This mom is a rock star! 🙌 #puppies #dogsofTikTok #momlife

♬ NOTHIN' TO IT - ON THE HUNT & Chandler

Newborn puppies typically nurse exclusively from their mother for the first 3 to 4 weeks of life. During this time, they rely entirely on their mother’s milk for nutrition and immune support.

Around 3 to 4 weeks old, puppies gradually begin the weaning process, transitioning to soft food while still nursing. By about 8 weeks old, most puppies are fully weaned.

In those early days, especially, first-time mothers may need a bit of help. As Winnie shows, sometimes all it takes is a little support and a quiet moment to figure it out together.

Foster Pittie Settles Into His Coziest Spot Like He’s Been Waiting His Whole Life

Wed, 02/18/2026 - 10:55am

Dogs who’ve been through change often show gratitude in the quietest, sweetest ways, and they always have the most tender heart, even when their backstory might give them every reason not to give people the benefit of the doubt. When a foster pup discovers comfort and safety in a new home, you can almost see the weight lift right off their shoulders, and it’s a healing moment for basically everyone who can see that magic.

We see this exact thing in a video of a foster Pit Bull puppy who has been through so much, but he’s finally in a home that helps him feel warm and comfortable. He’s found safety in a cozy blanket and is clearly overwhelmed by happiness. His relaxed body and joyful expression make it look like he’s been waiting for this moment forever, and it’s incredibly moving.

@we.three.pitties

This is his charging station ⚡️ I am convinced that all pitties get their energy from heat sources and Piglet is no exception. Whenever I can’t find him, he’s curled up somewhere warm - probably charging himself up so he can channel his inner PORK CHOP 👹 and rise from his slumber to wreak havoc 🤣 What would you do if you found Piglet curled up under your desk like this?! TikTok user We Three Pitties (@we.three.pitties) shared a video of a beautiful foster Pit Bull puppy named Piglet, who is learning to find calm in his loving foster home. And there's one place that his foster parents have discovered Piglet loves to hide out in when he needs a little break and some cuddle time. It's enough to make even the most non-dog person melt because look at how cozy Piglet is curled on this warm blanket!

His parents call this his "charging station" because it gives him a comfortable and warm place to take a nap and recharge his batteries for the day. It's so cute how happy he is when his foster mom talks to him. His tail is wagging so much, and he's just got the happiest face while cuddled into his warm, happy blanket nest.

Another shared, "He wanted to come give you kisses soooo badly, but he was just far too comfy cozy."

Someone else added, "The sweetest of the sweets!!! Ugh, that little army crawl/tippy-taps."

Other comments included, "Now you gotta crawl under there and pet him a little," "He’s just a baked potato," "Omg, he is gorgeous," "He's perfect," "He's just charging his battery," "Oh, he is just a tee tiny lil' guy," "I am obsessed with him!! How To Help Your Foster Dog Adapt and Adjust to a New Home

As people, we know that being in a new environment can be very unsettling and scary, so it shouldn't be too challenging to see that's the same for foster dogs, too. They tend to have a backstory that gives them some hesitation around people, so helping them feel comfortable and calm isn't easy, but it's incredibly important.

According to the American Kennel Club, there are a few things you can do to help your foster dog feel more at home, including creating a safe space just for them. Make it seem like a den, a quiet, small room or crate where they can retreat to when they need to feel more at ease.

Ideally, this is far from the hustle of the house and quiet and dark. From there, be sure to build a routine so your pup knows what to expect, which can also help them feel secure. Be patient with them and be intentional about your affection, paying close attention to their body language.

We're so happy this adorable Pit Bull named Piglet has a home where he's learning to trust and feel cozy. It's so special!

Shih-Tzu Mix Has Second Thoughts on Going to the Dog Park After 'Pep Talk' From Mom

Wed, 02/18/2026 - 10:10am

We've all been there. You have to walk into a party, the high school cafeteria, or some other social setting where everyone seems to know each other except you. Our fur babies go through these intimidating situations as well and need encouragement to face the canine crowd with confidence.

Judah the Shih-Tzu-Poodle mix got a motivational speech from his mom before heading to the dog park, but her little talk turned out to have the opposite effect.

In the TikTok from @asia.d7, Judah sat in the backseat of the car, ready to leave for the dog park. His mom wanted to give him some words of wisdom before heading out.

"I had to give my boy a pep talk before the park," the caption explained.

"Listen, we're going to the dog park, okay?" she began. "Don't let these people, don't let these other dogs bully you. I'm not playing."

Judah looked a little taken aback by what his mom was saying, but he gave her his full attention.

"If they try to bite you, you bite them back," she continued. "If you don't want to play, you don't have to play. Okay?"

The precious pooch seemed to ponder her instructions, almost like he wasn't sure if he wanted to go anymore.

"I'm going to bring your treats," his mom said. "I didn't bring any toys today but I'm going to bring your treats. I want you to be a good boy, okay? And if they bother you, you let Mommy know."

At that point, Judah's expression seemed to say, "Maybe this isn't a good idea."

Dog Park Was Closed

A follow-up post revealed that Judah never had to step one paw in the dog park since it wasn't open that day. His mom treated him to a Pup Cup instead, so his day went better than expected.

Followers felt for the fur baby and saw his concern over his mom's well-intentioned speech.

"I don't think he is built for the dog park life," one pointed out.

"He’s thinking he should have stayed home today," another remarked.

"Don’t think he wants to play after this talk," a follower noted.

"He looks like he is going to kindergarten for the first time," someone posted.

"This fur baby is not for the streets," a fan shared.

It may be a while before Judah wants to try the dog park again.
