Doberman ‘Combs Mom’s Hair’ As if He’s Eating Spaghetti

Fri, 02/13/2026 - 10:00am

My dogs are absolute menaces. I haven't had a moment of peace in several years, but I must like it that way... I went from one to three of them. Willingly. I think I've lost it.

At least they don't like to comb my hair with their mouths. One Doberman recently got caught on camera combing his mom's hair with the grace of somebody eating spaghetti! He's got some work to do if he ever wants to open up a salon:

@loyalthedoberman

Yall is it the same or is my Doberman broken😆😆 #westministerdogshow #westministerdogshow2026 #dobermanpinscher #doberman #dobermanpuppy

♬ AnySoundEffects Monkeys Spinning Monkeys - Any Sound Effects

Loyal the Doberman has his mom saying, "This can't be the same breed that won the Westminster Dog Show." That's so funny because it definitely is; I bet those pups are obnoxious at home, too!

Loyal just wanted to take a little off the top. His mom's hair is very soft and shiny, so he just wanted to pet her! And then her hair got a little tangly from the petting, so of course, he had to comb it out...

Related: Belgian Malinois Can’t Contain Her Excitement at Westminster Dog Show and Becomes the Star

Loyal is many things for his mom, including:

  • Her snuggle buddy.
  • Her son.
  • Her motivator.

Now, he's her hairstylist, too. People in the comments who also have Dobermans who are a little bit bad only have one thing to say about Penny, who won Best In Show this year: "She's AI!" Of course, that's just a joke; Penny is a very real, well-behaved pup. She deserved her win!

Dobermans Have a Silly Side

I bet Penny is bad when she's at home, too. That's part of having a show dog: if you don't let them be themselves at home, they may act out during the show. Humans need a work-life balance, and so do dogs.

Dobermans, in particular, are very goofy dogs. They live for attention and have lots of extra energy, which often results in:

  1. Mouthing off.
  2. Playful biting.
  3. Zoomies.
  4. Rolling around on their backs and whining.
  5. Trying to escape.

They're goofy, but Dobermans are also tough to handle; they won't be right for every family. If you're looking for a haircut, though, they might be exactly what you need!

Golden Retriever Smiles in His Sleep and It's the Sweetest Sight We've Ever Seen

Fri, 02/13/2026 - 9:57am

Some dogs chase rabbits in their dreams. Wally the Golden Retriever? He's apparently living his best imaginary life, and his face can't hide it.

A viral TikTok from @Wally.Meets.World shows this absolutely adorable Golden Retriever slumbering peacefully on a throw on the sofa, sporting the sweetest smile while deep in dreamland. Posted with the caption "What do you think he's dreaming about?" and asking the obvious question, "Is it just me or is my dog smiling in his sleep?" The video captures a moment of pure unbridled canine joy.

And yes—Wally is absolutely, undeniably smiling.

@wally.meets.world

What do you think he’s dreaming about? #goldenretriever #dogsoftiktok

♬ The Winner Is... - DeVotchKa Version - DeVotchKa

The comment section immediately started speculating about what could inspire such blissful sleep smiles. "Wally is finally stress-free 🥹" observed one relieved viewer.

Several fans had very specific theories involving a beloved grandma figure. "Grandma with a Marshall's bag ❤️" wrote one commenter, apparently familiar with Wally's shopping-savvy grandmother.

"He's either enjoying the biggest pup cup of his dreams or having fun with grandma 😁" guessed another fan, covering the most important Golden Retriever priorities: treats and favorite people.

One fan offered a heartwarming alternate theory: ""Dad will be home when I wake"....drool drool drool"

Related: Golden Retriever Sisters' Epic Cuddle Puddle Might Be the Cutest Thing on the Internet

The emotional impact was real. "Smiling just like I do every time I see Wally 🥰" confessed one devoted follower.

The verdict was unanimous: "100% smiling ☺️."

Golden Retrievers Are Known for Their Characteristic Smiles and Happy Expressions

Wally's sleep smile reflects a well-documented Golden Retriever trait. These naturally happy dogs are famous for their beaming grins, which serve as direct expressions of their happiness and contentment.

Golden Retrievers smile for many reasons: expressing joy, showing social connection with their families, and even imitating human emotions they observe. Their highly perceptive nature means they pick up on their humans' expressions and mirror them.

The "Panting Smile"—which Wally appears to be displaying—is a genuine expression of happiness and comfort. It's typically accompanied by relaxed body language and an overall peaceful demeanor, which perfectly describes a sleeping Golden Retriever dreaming about grandma's Marshall's hauls and unlimited pup cups.

These smiles can also result from positive reinforcement. If Wally's been praised for his adorable grins before (and let's be honest, he definitely has), he's learned that smiling brings joy to his humans.

Whatever Wally's dreaming about, one thing's certain: it's making him very, very happy.

Sweet dreams, Wally. May your slumber always include grandma, toys and endless treats.

Golden Retriever Strutting to Mom With a Special Delivery Is Everything

Fri, 02/13/2026 - 9:55am

Having dogs means you're always in for a treat when they find something they'd like to show us. One day, it could be a cool stick they found outside, and the next, it might be a garment from the dirty laundry. Part of what makes them such amazing companions is their ability to do something to lift us up exactly when we need it.

Rocco, the Golden Retriever, sensed Mom might have been feeling a certain way. Ever since older pup brother Fred's health began to decline, the mood of the house changed, and he could tell. Lucky for Mom, Rocco knew what to do with his special delivery, and it's really the sweetest thing ever.

There's not a doubt in my mind that Rocco knew somewhere in his soul what would make his mom a little happier. In this throwback video, the pup didn't hesitate to strut on over with one of his most prized possessions in hopes of bringing a little joy.

This good boy is a huge fan of his stuffie, so offering it to someone in need was his way of saying "I love you," no words necessary. As you can see in the brief video, senior Golden Retriever Fred is having a nap on the lawn, trying to relax with his best gal. The awareness of dogs and their ability to feel our emotions with us and try to help is why we'll never deserve them!

2025 Was a Mixed Year for Rocco's Family

While some fans noted what a flex it is for Rocco to make this gesture of giving his stuffie to Mom, others left words of support in memory of "Grandpa" Fred, who passed in 2025.

The senior boy lived long enough to meet the newest member of the family, a Bernese Mountain Dog named Binky. Together, the trio seemed to be an unstoppable force to be reckoned with—and look how happy Fred was.

@thegoldenboysfredandrocs

I want to thank all of you beautiful people for watching us and liking our antics. It’s been a mixed year - gaining Binky and losing Freddie. Here’s to a wonderful 2026 for you all ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ #goldenretriever #bernesemountaindog #newyear #dogloversoftiktok #fypppppp

Golden Retriever Puppy's First Visit From the Tooth Fairy Is Pure Sweetness

Fri, 02/13/2026 - 9:30am

There are so many sweet milestones that come with raising a puppy. You get to witness most of their firsts as they explore the world with you by their side... and, just like human little kids, they do lose all those baby teeth to grow their adult teeth.

That doesn't mean that it's not hard to realize just how quickly they're growing up, though, as one Golden Retriever mom discovered when her puppy lost his first tooth.

@george_thegoldenboy

My baby is growing up way too quickly 😭 So happy we’ve managed to save his first tooth!! #goldenretrieverpuppy #newpuppy #puppytiktok #goldenretrieverlife #puppylife @ZIWI Pets

In this sweet footage shared by @george_thegoldenboy on Wednesday, February 11, we see George's mom discover that his baby teeth are starting to be a little loose... and then her excitement (and surprise) when one of them comes out in her hands.

In the caption, she shared that they decided to save his first tooth (you know, after the Tooth Fairy comes to give him his reward).

This little one is growing up so fast!

When Do Dogs Lose Their Puppy Teeth?

Part of raising a puppy is getting to see them lose their baby teeth and grow their adult, grown up dog teeth, which can definitely be a little bittersweet since it's more evidence that your baby is growing up!

But when can you expect this to begin happening? According to the American Kennel Club (AKC), their puppy teeth start coming in when they're about two to four weeks old — before most puppies are adopted by their forever families — and all 28 of them will have finished growing in by the time they hit six weeks.

The process of losing those teeth happens a lot faster for dogs than it does for humans, though. Sometime between the 12 to 16 week mark, they'll start losing those baby teeth, and you may end up finding some around the house, so don't be too alarmed!

By the time they're six months old, your dog will have a full set of about 42 adult teeth, which won't be quite as sharp as their puppy teeth were.

It shouldn't be a painful or upsetting process for your dog, but don't be surprised if you notice them chewing on their toys more during this time!

Corgi's Day as an NYC Tourist Knocks Him Out and It's Too Funny

Fri, 02/13/2026 - 9:20am

New York City is the city that never sleeps.

Bowie, the Corgi, did not get the memo.

“Twenty-something thousand steps, a thousand new smells, and one very tired dog on the bus back to the apartment,” Bowie’s pet parents share in an adorable TikTok clip as a very sleepy pooch rests on his papa. “We do want to note that we carried him in a backpack from time to time, especially since the MTA requires your dog to be in a carrier when riding public transportation.”

Fans couldn’t get enough of Bowie and had lots to share on TikTok.

"I love seeing people genuinely love their pets like their own children,” said a viewer. “Those people have the best hearts, man.”

“I love when there are puppies on my commute home,” added another person. “It makes my day.”

“The ears, OMG,” said someone else.

Bowie looks like the adventurous type, so I’m sure he had an amazing day uncovering lots of cool stuff in the city.

What Are the Best New York City Attractions for Families With Dogs?

Public parks with designated areas or dog-friendly spots are some of the best places for our four-legged friends to enjoy the city. Definitely make your way to Central Park!

Lots of cafes around the city welcome leashed dogs, too.

But for pups really looking to get their zoomies on, a reimagined version of the iconic Broadway show Cats is scheduled to run at the Broadhurst Theatre this spring. Maybe it's open to dogs?

I get the feeling that once Bowie got home, he slept for hours. Whenever I go to the city to sightsee, I walk several miles. I can only imagine how challenging that might be with short little Corgi legs.

Rest up, Bowie! I’m sure you have lots of really cool adventures to look forward to!

Grey Cat’s Massive ‘Green Alien’ Eyes Have Everyone Smitten

Fri, 02/13/2026 - 9:00am

Sometimes, I swear my pets have the prettiest eyes in the world. They're Boston Terriers, and they have very big, very beautiful brown eyes. However, evidently, there are certainly prettier eyes.

For example, this grey cat. Her eyes are the kind of green that would send the Wizard of Oz into orbit. They're a lighter green, but the way the color takes up her entire eyeballs is just incredible:

I've been obsessed with Telly the Cat for a long time. She's weird, she's gorgeous, and she's a woman who knows exactly what she wants. Luckily, those green eyes make it very hard to tell her no.

Telly is really cool for a few reasons:

  1. She's the size of a kitten, despite being a full adult cat.
  2. She has some extra toes.
  3. Her green eyes make her fur look almost blue.

Telly is a rescue. Her mom picked her up when she was so young that she required bottle feeding. Telly's growth was stunted, unfortunately, but she lives a happy, full life regardless.

Telly has a few siblings she loves to play with, including two cats and a Chihuahua. Despite being the smallest of all of them, Telly is definitely the boss of the group; they do whatever she says.

Maybe it's the piercing eyes, or it could be the extra toes. They're great for swatting at anyone who steps out of line! Plus, her little teeth are so sharp:

@lookitstelly

Telly chompy throwback. One of the grandest of them all. #catsoftiktok #greycat #polydactylcat #cattok

♬ original sound - TellyBeans

She apparently loves to chomp, but rarely does it maliciously. At heart, she's a sweet girl who loves to snuggle!

Most Common Cat Eye Colors

Telly's eyes are green, and while they might feel rare because of how pretty they are, green is actually one of the most common cat eye colors out there! About 10% of cats have green eyes. They're most common in:

  • Grey cats.
  • Siamese cats.
  • Norwegian Forest Cats.

Other than green, there are a few other common colors: yellow and amber. Those colors can appear in any cat! Blue eyes, though common in white cats specifically, are rare for other types.

Telly is a Russian Blue, at least partly. Green is common for that breed, though they might not always be this stunning!

Adorable Dog Wins ‘Hero of the Day’ Award After Saving an Unlikely Friend

Fri, 02/13/2026 - 8:48am

For centuries, people have bred dogs to assist them in hunting birds. Sporting breeds like retrievers, pointers and spaniels were selectively bred to work alongside hunters in pursuit of game birds. And while many dogs instinctively see birds as prey, some see them as a friend in need.

Enter Archie: a goldendoodle who received a well-deserved “Hero of the Day” award.

In a recent Reddit post, the user OrderOutrageous6541 explained the whole situation and why Archie was such a hero.

My dog discovered a baby bird, gently checked on it, and now he’s officially “Hero of the Day.

He shared a picture of his dog sitting proudly on a chair, smiling with a framed certificate of appreciation next to him on a desk. The post also shows a second image of a tiny bird in the hands of Archie's owner with the pup looking up at the bird.

The owner explained the heroic actions of his dog. He said his dog discovered a baby bird, gently checked on it and then he called his owner to save it. The wholesome moment earned him the certificate of Hero of the Day.

Fans loved the moment, praising the dog’s behavior. While many dogs instinctively pursue birds, Archie is a friendly pup who just loves to help those in need.

What Redditors Are Saying

Archie not only won “Hero of the Day,” but he also won the hearts of many people on the Internet. His Reddit post received more than 50 comments and 2,000 likes.

Many heartwarming comments flooded the post praising Archie and his heroic behavior. “We need more heroes and good boys like Archie, thanks for sharing,” said one comment. Another Reddit poster said, “Ooooh my goodness. Great job Archie! You're the best boy and an absolute hero.”

One thing is certain: this dog definitely had his shining moment.

Can Dogs and Birds Live Together?

Despite their hunting heritage, many dogs and birds can live together peacefully in the same household. It's all about proper management and training. Many dogs learn to view indoor birds as family members rather than prey, especially if they were introduced during puppyhood. That is the period when all dogs have a naturally gentle disposition and can befriend any animal.

Training plays a role. Pet parents who want to have a bird and a dog have to teach their furry friends obedience commands like “leave it” and “stay.” Use the two commands to redirect your dog’s attention away from the bird if needed.

Understanding both animals’ body language and stress signals is crucial to creating a peaceful environment. In the Reddit post, we can see how even a dog that comes from the retriever family can live with a bird. Good job, Archie!

African Grey Parrot's Sassy 'British' Words for Mom Rival Teenagers Everywhere

Fri, 02/13/2026 - 8:20am

With three teens in my house (ages 19, 16, and 14), I've had my fair share of back talk, eye-rolling, heavy sighs/grunts, and slamming of doors. Some days, there's no avoiding it, and these things can pop up out of nowhere (even on a good day). With a 1-in-3 chance of encountering sass, I can't help but thank my three cats and two dogs for not adding to my grief.

Then I found Cruz, an African Grey Parrot with a British accent, who could be on the debate team of bird school if he had the opportunity. This funny boy—who's 100% a bold teenager in his heart—knows exactly what to say to get under Mom's skin, and it's hilarious. He'd definitely give my teens a run for their money!

Closeup of an African Grey Parrot playing with toys.

I love talking birds so much, but I always forget they can pick up words and phrases they shouldn't. And, being so smart, they know exactly what they're doing when responding in ways you could swear a teen might. Listen to Cruz giving Mom a talking-to and you be the judge!

The amusing video shows what these "menace" birds are capable of learning, which is a lot. Cruz not only has a big vocabulary, but he can differentiate which things to say at the perfect time. Like human teenagers, he's very much into rebelling if it gets Mom worked up!

For an African Grey Parrot who gained popularity for saying "WOT," Cruz is the master of a clap back Mom won't expect, and we thank him for his service! Making it even more ridiculously cute is that he speaks with a British accent, which I'm confident can't be outdone by any other.

With more than 245k TikTok followers obsessed with what he'll say next, Cruz lives for the spotlight. I'm not sure if he's even aware of how funny he really is or if he's just blurting out whatever feels good at the time. Either way, there's no one else like him, and this hilarious viral video shows why!

Dog Parents Swear By This Cute and Useful Puzzle Toy on Chewy for Beating Boredom

Parade Pets aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Any dog parent knows that look. The one where your pup stares at you like you’re personally responsible for their entertainment schedule. The sigh. The dramatic flop onto the floor. The unmistakable “OK…what’s next?” energy.

For moments like that, pet parents say the Nina Ottosson by Outward Hound Puppy Hide N’ Slide Treat Puzzle on Chewy is super helpful. Reviewers describe it as an easy, effective way to keep dogs mentally engaged, whether you’re hopping on a work call, making dinner or handing it over as a distraction before heading out the door.

This Level 2 puzzle offers an approachable challenge, making it a great fit for puppies, beginners or smart pups who like quick puzzles.

Nina Ottosson by Outward Hound Puppy Hide N' Slide Treat Puzzle, $22.99 at Chewy Dog treat puzzle toy

Chewy

How It Works (and Why Dogs Love It)

The puzzle features multiple treat compartments hidden beneath sliding blocks and swiveling flippers. Dogs use their noses and paws to move pieces around and uncover treats, tapping into their natural instincts to hunt and forage. You can adjust the challenge level, making it simpler for beginners or more challenging for seasoned snack detectives.

Puzzle toys like this one engage your dog’s brain, and that mental workout can help ease stress, refocus restless pups and curb boredom before it turns into mischief. And for dogs who tend to gulp down their food, it also works as a slow feeder, helping them eat at a slower pace

What Pet Parents Are Saying

While many reviewers admit it may not occupy dogs for long, they say it's still useful in many situations. As one Chewy reviewer put it, “This isn’t really a puzzle for my dog, but he loves eating from it and it keeps him occupied for a few minutes.” And sometimes those few minutes are all you need!

Additionally, many reviewers mentioned the sturdy construction. “Nina Ottosson puzzles may cost a few dollars more than other puzzle feeders, but they are built to last,” one reviewer wrote. Plus, it’s made of food-safe materials that are BPA-, PVC-, lead- and phthalate-free, and it’s easy to clean (a must for anything involving wet food or peanut butter).

Some pet parents say their cats love it too. “Our elderly indoor cat has become addicted to these puzzle games,” one reviewer shared.

The Bottom Line on This Puzzle Feeder

While advanced problem-solvers may breeze through it after a few rounds, many reviewers say it’s especially great for puppies or slower-paced dogs, and it works beautifully as a short enrichment session or distraction.

So, if your pup needs a little boredom buster (or just something to keep them busy for a few minutes), this sturdy brain game might be worth adding to your cart. Because a tired brain often equals a happier, calmer dog!

Memphis Zoo’s New Baby Giraffe Has Arrived—and His Name Has a Sweet Taylor Swift Connection

Fri, 02/13/2026 - 7:55am

There’s a new long-legged baby at the Memphis Zoo, and he’s already making a big impression (literally!).

A male reticulated giraffe calf was born on Feb. 5, marking a major milestone for the zoo. The baby boy is the 13th offspring sired by Niklas, a key member of the zoo’s giraffe herd. Reticulated giraffes are especially recognizable thanks to their bold, polygon-shaped coat patterns.

Memphis Zoo's Newest Giraffe Calf Is Here

At birth, the calf stood approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighed just over 130 pounds. (For context, giraffes are the tallest land animals on Earth, eventually reaching heights of 14 to 18 feet.)

His mom, Wendy, is an experienced mother who has now welcomed five calves at the Memphis Zoo. Animal care staff report she’s doing wonderfully as her newest little one gains strength and confidence.

The Sweet Meaning Behind the Name 'August'

The calf has been named August (this one’s for you, Swifties!). The giraffe care team, who proudly describe themselves as huge fans of Taylor Swift, chose the name for several meaningful reasons. August is Niklas’ 13th calf (a nod to Swift’s favorite number), Wendy celebrates her birthday in August and, of course, there’s Swift’s song August. It’s thoughtful, clever and just the right amount of pop-culture sweet.

August recently made his debut, stepping into the giraffe yard for the first time alongside Wendy. Guests may now catch glimpses of him exploring his surroundings, though he’s still sticking close to mom as he adjusts to his new world.

Why This Birth Matters for Giraffe Conservation

Beyond his undeniable cuteness and impressive size, August’s arrival marks a meaningful conservation achievement.

His birth is a success story for the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ Species Survival Plan (SSP), a science-based initiative designed to maintain genetically healthy and sustainable populations of animals in accredited zoos. The Memphis Zoo plays an active role in that effort, helping strengthen the future of reticulated giraffes through carefully managed breeding programs.

Related: DZCA Welcomes Jelly Bean-Sized Joey—and It’s a Big Win for This Endangered Species

In a press release shared by the zoo, Courtney Janney, the Chief Zoological Officer at Memphis Zoo, said, “The continued success of our giraffe herd is a testament to the dedication of our animal care team and the importance of our role in AZA’s Species Survival Plan. Niklas’ genetics are valuable to the future of this species, and we’re proud to contribute to a sustainable and thriving giraffe population.”

While giraffes may seem abundant, conservationists have warned of a “silent extinction.” According to the press release, wild giraffe populations have declined by about 40 percent over the past three decades due to habitat loss, poaching, climate change and human-wildlife conflict. That’s why each healthy birth carries real weight.

For now, though, August is simply a baby finding his footing—one wobbly step at a time.

Golden Retriever Chooses Unlikely Item to Snuggle With in Dog Bed and We Have Questions

Fri, 02/13/2026 - 7:10am

My senior Dachshund has a favorite spot in a bedroom closet. She loves to just get into the corner and have some space from the world. Since she goes in there so often, we put a dog bed in there to make it really comfortable for her. It's basically like her own little apartment. She's even started collecting objects to bring in with her to keep her company. I've found a treasure trove of plushies, balls, and socks that she's hoarded in there — soon I'll have to buy her shelves.

Duke the senior Golden Retriever has the same penchant for accumulating items, but recently picked one that most people touch only if absolutely necessary.

In the TikTok from @lifewithduke2025, the gorgeous Golden trotted toward his dog bed carrying an object with a very long handle. Duke got to his dog bed and revealed he was holding a toilet plunger in his mouth.

"This is new," the onscreen text read.

His mom was stunned — and a little horrified — at Duke's choice. "Oh no!" she exclaimed. "He took the plunger!"

Duke seemed fond of his latest find and wanted to keep it close. His mom knew she had to take the bathroom tool away from him, but Duke wasn't letting go without resistance. When his mom grabbed the handle, the plunger-loving pooch held onto it with his mouth and gave a warning growl.

"I'm sorry," his mom said. "I don't mean to get ugly here but this has to go."

The post's caption assured viewers that the plunger had been sterilized, noting, "I throw bleach in and wash the plunger when I’m finished with it."

Duke Is a Collector

Duke has baskets of toys and even his own bookshelf. The canine cutie obviously likes to transport items to his dog bed, since there were several already there before he added the plunger.

A candle, a gravy boat, and some cloth material were a part of his dog bed collection. Maybe Duke thought a plunger would make a great addition? It's hard to tell. Followers wondered if he might have professional plans for the future.

"He’s starting a career as a plumber," one noted.

"Add plumber to Duke's résumé," another remarked.

"He's tasted worse things outside. He'll be fine and this clearly means a lot to him," someone pointed out.

Duke clearly has eclectic taste, but hopefully he'll pick something a little more sanitary next time.

Baby Girl's Fit of Giggles Upon Seeing Her Golden Retrievers Will Make You Go 'Aww!'

Fri, 02/13/2026 - 6:55am

If ever there was a perfect duo whose sole job was to make the world smile, no doubt it's a baby and dog pair. On their own, each is already equipped with just the right amount of snuggle-filled joy, but together they're unstoppable.

One adorable baby girl named Georgia has not one, but two (!) Golden Retriever siblings who've happily accepted the job as "resident comedians" and little Georgia's a HUGE fan!

Whatever you're doing in your life right now, stop, turn up the volume, and watch all your worries fade away by the sound of Georgia's laughter. You're welcome in advance.

These two Goldens seem to know they're making little sister happy, and they're hamming it up on her behalf. She makes for the best audience because they're literally just existing, and she's over the moon!

It's not only Georgia who needed a daily dose of happy dogs. Fans swarmed the post to share that this scene is exactly what they needed (same).

"And just like that, my day got better," one fan commented. "Baby laughs and dogs = day made," another wrote. "Confirming this made my day," another added.

Golden Retrievers Are the Perfect Companion for a New Baby

There are more than a few good reasons that adopting Golden Retrievers makes sense in households with families, particularly those with young ones like Georgia.

Known as faithful, devoted, and playful companions to just about anyone, Goldens are a tried-and-true breed beloved for their intelligence, friendliness, and trainability. This genetic recipe means these dogs love to be of service, making them amazing search-and-rescue, therapy, and guide pups.

Golden Retriever Stops in His Tracks After Seeing Photo of Brother Who Crossed the Rainbow Bridge

Fri, 02/13/2026 - 6:44am

The first time I watched Oakley freeze in front of the TV, I had to pause and breathe. One minute he’s padding through the living room like any other day, and then he sees it: a photo of his brother Finley, the GoldenRetriever who crossed the Rainbow Bridge in 2025. Oakley’s whole body goes still. He eases himself to the floor, eyes locked on the screen, and you can almost feel the air change around him.

If you’ve ever loved more than one dog, you know their relationships are their own love stories. My Heeler mix Lola still looks for my late dog Emmie sometimes, and after Emmie passed, it took her months to fully relax again. Watching Oakley sit in front of the TV, clearly recognizing Finley, brought all of that right back.

@cbonecutter10

Immediate tears. He misses Finley so much 😭💔 #petloss #rainbowbridge #dogsoftiktok #goldenretriever #missyou

♬ original sound - Cassidy Bonecutter

What gets you is how quiet the moment is. There’s no dramatic music, no big reaction, just a dog who suddenly looks small in front of a glowing screen. The caption says, “When your dog sees a picture of his brother who passed away,” but Oakley doesn’t need the words. The way he folds into a sit says everything: I remember him. I miss him. Where did he go?

Behavior experts say dogs absolutely can grieve the loss of a companion. They may search the house, cling to their humans, act restless, eat less, or just seem… dimmed.

View this post on Instagram

But Oakley’s video reminds us that grief is not just something dogs “get over.” It is love with nowhere to land. When that photo of Finley pops up on the TV, Oakley finally has somewhere to send it for a moment. He can sit with his brother again, even if it’s only a few pixels wide.

If your own dog has lost a furry best friend, you can honor that bond by slowing down with them: lingering on the couch a little longer, talking to them about the dog who’s gone, and keeping favorite toys or beds around if they seem comforting.

When Dogs Grieve, They Need Our Help Too

Moments like Oakley’s are a nudge to treat our dogs’ grief as real, not “cute” or dramatic. Extra walks, steady routines, and quiet time together in the spots they used to share with their friend can help both of you breathe again. You cannot explain where their buddy went, but you can keep showing them they are safe, loved, and not alone.

The AKC’s guide on how dogs grieve other dogs offers gentle, practical ideas for helping them cope while you’re grieving too, and it’s a reassuring reminder that you’re not imagining the depth of what they feel or what you feel.

Golden Retriever Chatters With Joy Carrying a Bag of Meatballs Like She Hit the Jackpot

Fri, 02/13/2026 - 5:40am

Dogs never hold back their feelings, especially when it’s something they’re excited about.

For many dogs, that excitement revolves around food, and for Bailey the Golden Retriever, there’s no question she’s a big fan. Her enthusiasm has been seen before when she proudly carried bags of chicken, but this time her dad revealed the dinner surprise was meatballs. Bailey’s reaction was about as excited as anyone could get.

You can see her happily chattering with joy in this TikTok shared by @baileycarriesthings on February 8:

If meatballs smell good to us, it’s easy to imagine how irresistible they must be to a dog with an incredibly powerful sense of smell. Between the savory meat and aromatic spices, Bailey’s teeth chattered with uncontrollable anticipation. Just as endearing is the way she looks up at her dad, patiently waiting for him to open the door so they can head inside and enjoy dinner together.

And @Theron added, “Why does it sound like the washing machine when it’s loaded uneven and on spin cycle?”

While @Dabzy joked, “You can generate electricity with that!”

♬ Only Time - Enya Reasons Dogs May Chatter Their Teeth

According to Pooch & Mutt, dogs can chatter their teeth for many reasons, including excitement, anticipation, or heightened emotional stimulation, especially when something like food captures their attention. Dogs often express those feelings through physical responses, and chattering can simply be an outward sign of enthusiasm. This type of reaction is more commonly seen in food-motivated breeds like Golden Retrievers, which are well known for expressing their eagerness in very visible ways.

Scent can play a direct role in triggering this behavior. Dogs have a specialized sensory system in the roof of the mouth called the vomeronasal system, or Jacobson’s organ. It helps them detect pheromones and analyze certain smells more deeply. When a dog becomes intensely focused on an especially interesting scent, that extra sensory processing can sometimes result in teeth chattering.

In other situations, teeth chattering may be related to feeling cold, mild anxiety, or even dental discomfort, which is why context matters. If the behavior happens alongside relaxed body language and clear anticipation, like Bailey showing interest in food, it is usually harmless. However, if chattering is accompanied by signs of distress, veterinarians recommend checking for underlying medical or dental issues to rule out pain or sensitivity.

8 Ways Your Dog Shows They Love You, According to a Trainer

Fri, 02/13/2026 - 5:10am

February has love in the air, and while roses and chocolates get all the attention, your dog may already be showing their devotion to you in far sweeter ways. The downside is, you just might not notice how your dog shows affection because dogs communciate in different ways than people do, which makes figuring out if your dog loves you tricky at times. After all, instead of talking, dogs express themselves through their body language. So, if you’ve ever wondered just how deep your pup’s feelings run, you’re not the only pet parent. However, you're in luck because we rounded up 8 signs your dog is head over heels for you, according to a professional trainer.

Once you start to recognize your dog's behavior, you'll be able to see how connected they are to you. In fact, Shannon Kenny, CPDT-KA, a professional dog trainer with Woofz, reports that there is something special about the human-canine bond. "Dogs have evolved alongside people for thousands of years in relationships that are quite strong and complex," Kenny says. "Humans can provide safety, resources, predictability and social interaction, all of which are extremely reinforcing to dogs."

These things can cause a dog's bond with a person to evolve into love over time. "As a dog begins to trust their human, they learn to associate them with comfort, positive experiences and stability," Kenny says. "This strong attachment can look and feel a lot like love." To find out more about dog love signs and how to know if your dog is attached to you, keep reading! From subtle dog body language to over-the-top excitement when you walk in the door, these actions aren’t just cute—they’re clear signals of trust, affection and a strong bond.

Warning: Noticing signs that your dog is head-over-heels for you may cause your heart to explode with sunshine. Kenny shares telltale clues that your dog is secretly giving you the heart-shaped eyes emoji that you may not be noticing since how dogs show love can be more subtle.

1. They choose to stay close

If you've ever though to yourself, "Does my dog love me?" pay attention to if they follow you around your home or not. After all, dogs don't join just anyone in the bathroom. When they do this, it means they have an emotional attachment to you. "If your dog tends to settle or relax in the same space as you without being called or constantly rewarded for it, it typically shows that they feel comfortable and safe with you," Kenny says. "While close proximity is a natural social behavior in dogs, choosing to be close without obvious external motivation suggests a strong bond."

2. They ask you on a playdate

Play isn't frivolous in the dog world. If your pet wants an impromptu playdate, consider it a love note from them to you as it’s a way dogs show affection. "Play invitations, such as bringing toys, offering a play bow or initiating a chase, can indicate comfort and happiness," Kenny shares. "Dogs tend to initiate play with people they enjoy interacting with and feel relaxed/safe around."

These play invitations are more than just energetic antics, they’re a sign your dog loves you and enjoys spending time with you. So, keep that in mind the next time your pup wants you to interact with them.

3. Your dog “checks in” during activities

One subtle dog love sign is when they check on you during the day. In fact, check-ins communicate love in your dog's language. "If your dog frequently chooses to glance back at you or offer their attention, it may mean that they feel safer with you around or just want to make sure that you’re still participating," Kenny notes. "This behavior can be trained, but it’s always a great sign if your dog is choosing to stay engaged with you."

4. They accept body handling

When a dog loves you, they show it through trust—and one of the clearest ways is how comfortable they are with you touching and handling their body. "While body handling and 'cooperative care' can absolutely be trained, dogs often show a naturally higher comfort level with familiar people that they trust," Kenny reports. "If your dog happily allows you to pet them, handle their paws, touch their ears, or look at their teeth, they are likely very comfortable with you." This relaxed acceptance is more than obedience, it’s a sign your dog adores you and considers you a safe, trusted companion.

5. Your dog greets you with happy body language

Dogs show their unconditional love by letting you know that reunions with you feel so good, even if you cut their morning walk short, screwed up at work and were only gone for five minutes. "A happy dog will typically look 'loose' and wiggly, with a wagging tail, relaxed face, and bouncy movement," Kenny says. "An excited greeting from your dog probably makes your day, and it can mean that your dog is just as happy to see you."

6. They seek you out when they’re uncertain or startled

"Does my dog like me?" is a typical question pet parents wonder about. However, if you notice that your pup turns to you when they are scared, that's a dog affection sign that you might not always notice that means they love you and they think of you as their hero in a way.

"If your dog looks to you or moves to be by your side during unfamiliar or scary situations, it can be a big sign of trust," Kenny explains. "This is especially true if they have learned that you will help them out of these situations when they ask. You’ve become a source of guidance and stability for your pup while they navigate the environment."

7. They enjoy physical contact with you

Another vet-backed sign your dog loves you is how much they enjoy physical closeness. "Your dog might choose to lean on you, rest their head on your lap, or respond positively to pets," Kenny states. "Not every dog likes to be pet 100% of the time, but it can be very rewarding and heartwarming to see your dog initiate this contact."

In terms of dog behavior, initiating or enjoying physical contact is a strong signal that your dog feels safe, comfortable, and deeply bonded to you. When your pup chooses to be close to you, it’s their way of showing that they love being around you and cherish your bond.

8. Your dog knows how to “communicate” with you

Dogs don't need words to communicate their love, needs and desires with you. "Over time, dogs learn which behaviors get a response from their specific person, such as sitting by the door when they need to go out or offering a look when they want something," Kenny reveals. "This type of individualized communication develops through repeated interaction and reflects a strong relationship."

Bedlington Terrier Looks Identical to a Paint Roller and We Can’t Unsee It

Thu, 02/12/2026 - 8:20pm

A Bedlington Terrier with the most perfectly rectangular head shape is going viral because people genuinely cannot figure out what they are looking at. The Bedlington Terrier’s curly coat and long, narrow face combine into a silhouette so perfect that viewers are comparing her to everything from a paint roller to a dust mop.

In the short clip, the Bedlington Terrier’s head is held in her dog mom’s hand, and that is when the confusion begins. Instead of reading instantly as “dog,” the shape registers as household object. The coat is fluffy but uniform, the muzzle slim and elongated, and the proportions are so clean that it almost looks manufactured. Just watch this, and you'll see what I mean.

That line alone is chaotic enough. But once you see it, you understand. The way her head sits in her mom's hand does look suspiciously like someone holding a hotdog. Or a paint roller. Or, as several commenters insisted, not a dog at all.

“I thought that was the paw and was so confused.”

“Thought you were holding a dustmop till I read dog.”

“I thought that was an arm.”

“Where is the rest of her?”

“Where are her eyes?”

“Why is it a perfect rectangle?”

Multiple people started posting photos of paint rollers and lamps shaped exactly like her head. Someone even said, “I don’t think that’s a dog…”

The Bedlington Terrier breed already has a famously unique look. With their lamb-like curls and narrow faces, they stand out in a crowd. But this angle somehow amplified everything. The fluff reads as solid. The muzzle reads as a straight line. The result is a dog who temporarily breaks your brain.

And honestly, I get it. The first time I saw a Bedlington Terrier in real life, I did a double take. My brain had to catch up. We are so used to round heads and obvious ears that something sleek and sculpted feels suspicious. Like most people are OK if our dogs look like, you know, dogs. Bedlingtons look like table lamps.

Once you see the paint roller comparison, though, there is no going back.

What Are Bedlington Terriers Like as Pets? @thefloranfaunacanines

Bedlington Terriers are an uncommon breed, ranked 149/200 AKC recognized breeds for popularity. They are notoriously called ‘Lions in Lambs Clothing’ but are not actively seen doing many dog sports or used for vermin anymore even though they are a great choice for both. It’s a bit sad to me to see this breed so underrated, although some like to say they’re the best kept secret in the dog world! Although I understand the want to keep a breed under wraps and away from bad breeders, but sometimes they deserve the spotlight! Bedlingtons definitely deserve the spotlight and I love sharing my Waltzy Boy with you all! This is just a small glimpse into our crazy life together, Waltz is maturing into a WONDERFUL Intact Male Terrier and I couldn’t be more proud. He’s got wonderful prey drive for moving quarry and I am still working on bringing out while he goes to ground. His speed and agile abilities are quite astounding and I would be lying if I said it doesn’t scare me a bit with his prior injury. He loves to work and I am having the best time exploring scentwork more heavily(not seen in reel) with my Bubba Boy and we’re getting such great feedback in our class and our constructor just ADORES my working boy. Hoping for the rest of the year to be filled with even greater adventures and showing off my boy more! The more out and about we can be, the better 😉

Bedlington Terriers are known for their distinctive lamb-like appearance, but their personalities are far from shy or delicate. They are energetic, intelligent, and surprisingly athletic dogs with strong Terrier instincts.

Despite their elegant look, Bedlington Terriers were originally bred for hunting vermin and even racing. They tend to be quick, playful, and confident. Many are affectionate with their families and enjoy being involved in daily life.

They do require regular grooming to maintain that iconic coat shape. Their curly fur doesn't shed much, but it needs trimming to keep its structure. That sculpted head shape people are comparing to paint rollers? That is partially the result of careful grooming.

Underneath the rectangle silhouette is a lively, loyal fur baby. Even if, at certain angles, you might briefly question whether you are holding a dog or a very stylish item to paint your living room with.

Teacup Poodle Swooning Over Dad's Kisses Will Make You Melt

Thu, 02/12/2026 - 7:55pm

It's an unfortunate part of life that we don't get a say in who our dogs choose as their favorite person. We can give them everything they want, be their biggest fan, and revolve our schedules around their "walkies," and they'll look you in the eye before skipping off to the other house human. It stings!

Pocky, a Teacup Poodle, has a clear winner when it comes to faves: Dad! Sorry to everyone else in the home, but she's made her decision and lets it be known!

Sweet Pocky is just a tiny girl in the world, hoping for Dad to notice her. Lucky for the pint-sized Poodle, he feels the same way about her. Watch as she melts into a puddle from her main man's kisses!

The precious clip shared by @margiemack501 is the same feeling as how a warm chocolate chip cookie straight from the oven tastes—or maybe even that smell in your Nana's sweater you breathe in when she embraces you. Whatever it is, Pocky and Dad are the picture of the true, unconditional love we all hope to have.

Some of the curly-haired cutie's biggest fans chimed in to say the scene made their hearts smile (same), while others left their mark with a slew of heart-eye emojis. The itty-bitty Poodle and Dad are the new "it" couple this Valentine's Day, so take notes!

Pocky's Love for Dad Is Too Pure

There could never be enough posts showing the deep bond with her favorite human, Dad, so I hope there are many more to come. In a previous video, you can see the level these two are on, as she plays a fun game on the couch.

This is the perfect ray of sunshine to boost your day, if only for 23 seconds, so take it all in, and try not to smile! Look at Pocky go, go, go!

Corgi Becomes Legit Sled Dog To Give Tot the Ride of Her Life

Thu, 02/12/2026 - 7:20pm

A vertically challenged Corgi may have what it takes to be the first of her breed to ever run the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race in Alaska!

OK, that’s a stretch, but Coco the Corgi definitely has some legitimate sled dog chops as she pulls her toddler sister in a plastic sled through a snowy residential street.

“Teaching our Corgi how to pull our daughter,” the pair’s proud mamma says in a heartwarming post on TikTok. “These are the moments I’ve dreamed of.”

these are the moments I’ve dreamed of 🫶🏻 nothing cuter than a corgi + toddler relationship! #corgi #toddlersoftiktok #corgisoftiktok #winter #momhacks

I have to admit, this is one of the most wholesome things I’ve ever seen on TikTok, and I spend A LOT of time on TikTok!

“She loves it,” Mom continues. “Nothing cuter than a Corgi + toddler relationship.”

Fans can’t get enough of this duo and had lots to share!

“In folklore, Corgis pull the sleighs of fairies, so she was born to do this,” said a viewer.

Ah, OK. While it’s hard to imagine Coco trekking 1,000 miles across the Alaskan wilderness as part of a sled dog team, I can see her pulling fairies across rainbows.

“Oh, to be a baby getting pulled in a sled by a Corgi,” added another fan.

“They both look so delighted,” said a third.

How Long Can a Corgi Spend Walking?

I did a little research and can confirm that Coco will not ever participate in the Iditarod.

For a healthy adult Corgi, 30 to 60 minutes of walking per day is about the right amount. Fit Corgis might be able to handle 2 to 3 miles. With a little conditioning, some can go longer, but they’re definitely NOT endurance dogs!

Coco’s pet parents are more than happy just to have Coco pull her sister through the neighborhood, and surely never thought about this pooch as a sled dog!

“Corgis love a job,” added another fan.

They sure do! And while racing 1,000 miles might not be in their wheelhouse, pulling toddlers in the snow (and fairies across rainbows) is the perfect gig for these little cuties!

Enjoy the rest of the winter, Coco!
