Many children are known for being picky eaters. Heck, so are many adults.

And apparently so are some dogs, especially when it comes to their favorite treats.

In a new video from influencer Abby Baffoe, she explains that her 1-year-old Dachshund, Lady, is a very picky eater.

In the video, she tries giving her dog many different treats, and Lady rejects them all.

Finally, Baffoe thinks she has found Lady a winner as she holds it in her mouth, but alas, no, as the pup drops it on the floor.

"Lady, some dogs are homeless and live on the streets and have no food," Baffoe tells Lady, who looks at her like she understands.

Baffoe tells her she has to pick one, and Lady finally concedes, takes a treat, and eats it. "Good girl," Baffoe says, and then quietly under her breath, she jokingly says, "Brat."

Daily occurrence- raising a diva

Though many dogs are picky eaters, the Dachshund breed is notoriously known for their selective eating habits.

There are a few reasons that explain their picky eating habits.

Breed predisposition is one of the reasons for their eating patterns. They were once bred to be badger hunters, giving them a real sense of independence as well as fearlessness.

This could mean they are not so into a mealtime schedule and only want to eat when they want to eat.

Dachshunds also have a high metabolism, which can make them hungrier and not love the food they are served.

Finally, these little dogs have very small stomachs, so they will most likely do better with small meals throughout the day instead of one big meal at the end of the day.

If they are only getting one big meal per day, they may be picky about it.

So Lady's pickiness isn't the easiest, but it is understandable!

The hilariously bizarre video, shared on the TikTok account @cutie.collector1, shows a Golden Retrievercompletely dialed into a game called Jolly Dog.

The setup is simple, but apparently the most fun ever, at least to this doggo.

A little animated object that looks like a mechanical fish pops around the screen, making a “boing boing boing” sound, and every time the dog taps it with his nose or paw, it explodes into stars.

Which is all the motivation he needs to keep going forever.

He is tapping. He is focused. He is thriving.

Meanwhile, I have three cats who barely acknowledge the existence of Pet TV, let alone attempt to participate in it. Meatball once watched a bird for six seconds and then fell asleep mid-stare, so this level of engagement feels… advanced.

The comments section immediately turned this into a full parenting debate.

“Wait, so now we’re raising iPad dogs!?!”

“I think there is no issue here as long as he’s done his homework.”

“Are his chores done?”

Others were fully enabling the behavior.

“He needs a gaming chair and headphones.”

And honestly, same. I hate to admit it, but now I kind of want to try Jolly Dog with my own pets just to see if anyone suddenly develops a gamer addiction.

Dogs, especially intelligent and active breeds like Golden Retrievers, need regular mental stimulation to stay happy and healthy. Without it, they can become bored, which often leads to behaviors like chewing, digging, or general chaos that somehow always happens when you leave the room for two minutes.

Interactive toys, puzzle feeders, training games, and even certain screen-based activities can help engage a dog’s brain and burn off some of that mental energy.

That said, balance is key. While games like this can be a fun enrichment tool, dogs still need physical exercise, real-world interaction, and plenty of time doing normal dog things like sniffing, exploring, and being slightly dramatic about nothing.

It's been a while since I've had any adorably tiny kittens in my house, so when I get the itch to adopt one, I first scour the web to get my fill. These funny, snow-colored babies come from resident cat mom, Josie, and the cute little family rounds itself out with the graceful presence of grandma Summer (a fan favorite). In a house full of beautiful, cute, stunning, and doll-faced cats, it seems like it'd be hard to leave a mark.

Somehow, Pearl manages to have some of the most memorable kitties of all time, every time. There's one clear standout if you can't tell, and it's because he's a little mouthy! Mr. Uno is an extra-spicy, "chonky" fellow who likes to complain and scream if it gets attention. #relatable.

As perfect as Uno, Usher, and Unicorn are with their gorgeous snow-cloud coats, Ragdoll cats have a wide variety of colors.

America has spoken — and once again, it’s all about the Frenchie.

The American Kennel Club just released its 2025 most popular dog breeds (based on registrations), and while a few familiar favorites held steady, there was one notable shake-up in the top five.

On Wednesday, March 18, Brandi Munden, vice president of communications and public relations at the AKC, stopped by the TODAY Show to exclusively reveal the five winners, accompanied by some charming canines ready to represent each beloved breed.

Taking the No. 1 spot (for the fourth year in a row) is the lovable French Bulldog (repped by Auggie!) — a compact, affectionate companion that’s as happy lounging at home as it is keeping a watchful eye on things. Right behind him is the Labrador Retriever (Hola in the house!), still a go-to for families thanks to its friendly, easygoing nature and love of being in the middle of everything.

The Golden Retriever (smiley Griswold!) holds onto third place, continuing its reign as one of the most beloved, kid-friendly breeds out there — equal parts sweet, social, and eager to please. The German Shepherd (sweet Eamonn) remains firmly in fourth, known for its intelligence, versatility, and ability to switch between working roles and family life.

And rounding out the top five this year is the Dachshund (Pretzel!), which nudged its way onto the list with its big personality, clever instincts, and unmistakable long-and-low silhouette.

The only real change? The Dachshund bumped the Poodle out of the top five — proof that even in a list of long-standing favorites, there’s always room for a little movement.

According to Arizona’s Family, Alyssa rescued Jax from a shelter in 2020, and he had been her emotional support dog for years. In April 2025, she came home to find her front door open and Jax gone. She searched relentlessly, posting across multiple platforms and refusing to let hope go. More than 11 months later, a social media tip helped Scottsdale police locate Jax at a hotel, where officers also found Alyssa’s ex-boyfriend. Police said he was later booked on a second-degree burglary charge. 

That alone would make this a huge story, but it is the reunion itself that really gets you. Alyssa described shaking and crying when she got the call, and when Jax finally recognized her, the moment turned into exactly the kind of happy chaos every pet lover understands. After everything, there he was, back where he belonged. It is hard not to get emotional thinking about the fear, the waiting, and then the sheer relief of finally holding your dog again. 

This is the kind of story that works because it carries both heartbreak and hope. Jax is not just a missing dog in a headline. He is a beloved little companion, an emotional support pup, and part of Alyssa’s everyday life. That is why people respond so strongly to reunions like this one. Well-known animal advocate Isabel Klee continues to care for her current foster dog, Raven. The Shih-Tzu is still recovering from some health issues, including a surgery that removed a major mass from her hind area. Still, Raven doesn't let these challenges slow her down, and she gets more energetic every day.

The precious pooch even created her own game that she greets Klee with each morning to start the day.

In the TikTok from @simonsits, Klee shared the special way that Raven says 'good morning' the minute she's out of bed.

"I literally woke up less than seven minutes ago," Klee explained. "I just have to show you my foster dog, Raven's, favorite game in the world. As soon as I wake up in the morning, she is attacking my feet and it is the cutest thing ever."

Klee walked toward Raven's dog bowls in maroon socks as the Shih-Tzu pranced around and playfully nipped at her feet. Raven's tail never stopped wagging as she continuously attempted to catch at least one foot or even just a toe.

The canine cutie stopped every few seconds to look at her foster mom adoringly, clearly enjoying their little morning ritual. Klee laughed in delight at Raven's silliness and had fun playing along.

Klee's dog Simon chose to sit back and watch the shenanigans as Raven and her foster mom danced around. The look on his face conveyed a little confusion, along with some mild annoyance at Raven's antics for such an early hour.

Followers got a kick out of Raven's feisty spirit and noted her improvement since her surgery, as well as Simon's apathy for the game.

A recent post on Reddit showed the most adorable yet practical way to keep newborn lambs safe and warm.

In the post, we see two young lambs curled up next to their mother. But while their mother provides warmth and heat, they are also wearing the cutest jumpers. The colors pop up instantly, with the red and violet looking adorable on their white wool coats.

While cute, there is also a practical reason why these lambs wear jumpers: they need to be warmed to a certain point to be able to nurse.

Farm animals in cute outfits is something fans always love. These tiny lambs are definitely adorable, and fans are loving it. For many newborn lambs, mothers provide warmth and protection, but wearing a jumper doesn’t hurt as well.

Unlike adult sheep, newborn lambs don’t have much insulation. They’re born with limited fat reserves, and their ability to regulate their body temperature is still developing. In cold or wet conditions, they can lose heat faster than they can generate it.

The dog gently and politely stands their ground, clearly communicating, this is where we need to be.

The man in the seat immediately picks up on the situation. Without a second thought, he stands up and even places a hand on the seat to keep it from folding up, making sure it’s ready and accessible.

Moments later, the handler reaches forward, feels for the seat their dog has located, and sits down. Mission accomplished.

The adorable cherry on top? As soon as the man is seated, the dog tucks in between his legs and glances back at his person, as if making sure he’s settled in comfortably.

The comment section quickly filled with praise—not just for the dog’s intelligence, but for the quiet teamwork between everyone involved.

“Love how gentle but assertive he/she is. ‘You there! You have been selected to move,’” one person joked in the comment section.

Another added, “Dog politely says, ‘Sir, I think you are in our seat.’”

Many people were also pleasantly surprised by the other man’s reaction: “I was expecting someone to begrudgingly move from the handicap seat, but he immediately looked up, clocked it and did the right thing.”

Sometimes, the most unforgettable dogs are the ones who don’t shine right away. And for one German shepherd dog living in the shelter, life has changed dramatically.

In a post recently shared on the social media platform Reddit, a dog mom shared the transformation of her German shepherd dog. In the first picture, the young dog was only eight months old. She looks anxious, with her tail tucked, standing in the corner with her toy.

But then a truly remarkable transformation can be seen in the second photo. The dog looks comfortable, confident and like a true German shepherd.

Her mom also shared a photo of the dog with her siblings in the comments. Now one year and nine months old, the German shepherd is living her best life.

Fans noticed the transformation of the dog, saying, “She certainly looks more confident, but also not terribly impressed with you,” “She beautiful. Crazy how dogs change into themselves when they feel the love,” and "You can just see how comfortable and confident she is now. Way to go!”

The young girl is almost two years old now. And like another commenter said, we hope she has a long and happy life. One fan put it perfectly: “I hope you guys get many years of happiness, tail wags, and long pleasant walks.”

We tend to focus on the dramatic visual change when we see dogs leave a shelter and enter a happy home. Sad to happy. Scared to confident. Before and after. But what’s actually happening underneath is quieter and far more complex.

We always think of Golden Retrievers as the ideal family pet. They're adorable, super friendly, and good with children.

After I first brought my daughter home from the hospital after she was born, she and our two cats clicked immediately. Not only did they somehow know that she was a delicate newborn and approached her carefully, but my kid mostly ignored them at first, which gave them time to get used to their new roommate before she eventually began actually interacting with them.

PetPlanUK explains that Golden Retrievers are known for a "lustrous double coat." Because their coats have a very thick undercoat with a water-repellant top layer, Goldens need regular grooming, mainly brushing. The site suggests daily brushing and using a de-shedding tool to thin out the undercoat, which is especially important during typical shedding times—around autumn and spring. 

The site also says that your Golden is likely to need a regular bathing schedule with pet-friendly shampoo, and that a shorter haircut during the summer is sometimes preferred for pups.
